Parents Frustrated With Government School Failure Want Control

Frustrated with the failed bureaucracy that has left one local school operating less-than-satisfactorily, parents in the small desert town of Adelanto, Calif., have decided to take over the school and fix its problems themselves.
Through a 2010 California law, the parents are working up a petition that will allow them to do such things as fire the school’s principal, close the school and reopen it as an independent charter.
“We just decided we needed to do something for our children,” Doreen Diaz, a parent organizing the trigger effort told The Washington Post. “If we don’t stand up and speak for them, their future is lost.”
According to the newspaper, Diaz’s daughter attends Desert Trails Elementary where last year two-thirds of students failed the State reading exams, half were not proficient in math and 80 percent failed the science exam. The school has reportedly for the past six years been ranked among the bottom 10 percent of schools in the State.
If the parents are successful, they are seeking to get preschool classes, a longer school day, a computer lab, every teacher to have a master’s degree, a full-time librarian and clean, working restrooms, among other things at the school. The district school superintendent says the demands are impossible to meet because of financial constraints.
Parents in other school districts throughout the Nation have taken similar steps. The Florida Legislature is voting on a parent trigger this week, and at least a dozen other States are weighing similar measures this year, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.

I also feel if I had kids in school today, and I had to teach them what the teachers are getting paid to teach them during the day, I would take them out. If I have to do the job, I might as well not pay someone else to do the same thing who is not teaching them. Besides, the kids are being indoctrinated more and more these days, not to mention they are not being taught the true history of the United States, if they are taught it at all.
It's about time. Anyway, last night the news here on television non-the-less-reported that San Antonio Texas' school district had an incident at their basketball game-seems they won the championship. The disturbance was after the game they all yelled and chanted USA USA USA, etc. Now they are being disciplined for that!!!!!! I already wrote to the San Antonio School District and told them my kids would not be allowed to apologize because yelling USA--their country--is not derrogatory!!!! It is not racist either, which is what they are claiming. The school that won was white, the other school that lost was multi diverse--but I thought they were Americans too!!!! Since when is USA offensive in our own country!!!!!! Its about time that stop too and a lot of the communist teachers and administrators get canned!!!!!
parents should have control, if they get rid of the bloating, like the esl classes. they don't work I spoke to a kid next door and he is still speaking Spanish , my Spanish sucks but now i'm teaching him and his parents to learn English. they are not learning for what taxpayers are paying for a moron teacher who don't know English herself.
It would appear that teachers are first union members, then teachers.
If my kids were still in elementary school, I would seriously consider pulling them out and homeschooling them. I feel like the teachers don't want to teach anymore. They are now in high school and I feel they are on their own, with the help from the parents, if they want to learn anything.
Like a lot of you have said when the schools stop teaching basic Math, Reading, they do not even teach History anymore. Someone will be held accountable for this.
the problem i have with teaching, teachers, with all this crap. were falling away from logic. its simple! dont over think it. history is history,math is math. just teach the kids. do your jobs. with that said. then its easier to cull their herd. good teacher keep him, bad teacher see ya. keep the job basic. it is that simple.
Teaching our kids is one of the very most important things we can do and we keep saying teachers aren't worth what they're paid. There was even one duck-brained Alabama State Senator who said that increasing teacher pay was "unbiblical" while increasing State Senators' pay was not. I think that's exactly opposite of what it should be.
We need to pay teachers enough so that brand-new engineering graduates will earn about the same as starting teachers as they would starting in industry. We can winnow out the wheat from the chaff once they start teaching. But if we don't make teaching more attractive, we won't have any wheat to winnow.

It seems to me the MSM covers up every aspect of this except at the local level. When the truth comes out about the rampant pedophilia of the progressive teachers unions it will be ugly.
Add to the fact that only teach liberal/communist..Instead of math and reading.

They did away with the phonics method of teaching reading and instituted the "look-say" method. The parochial schools chose to stay with phonics method. This is why parochial school students are good readers while public school students are poor readers. Without good reading skills, how can anything else be learned? Separate the boys and girls into different sides of a building. That would help to control the hormones in the teens. Planned Parenthood was put in charge of a new sex education program. They are using filthy pornographic cartoons and illustrations showing the various sexual positions, and encouraging the students to try them. Go ahead, ask your children what they are being taught now. Ask to see the materials for the sex education program. The point of all of this is to turn out an easily controlled, immoral, poorly educated citizenry, Such a citizenry will not know about their country or patriotism or morals, and will simply be the workers for the Elites.
