Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told Fox News on Wednesday night that President Trump is "brilliant" to stake out "middle" ground in his quest for wall funding... while House Speaker Nancy Pulosi (D-Calif.) is alienating some in her own party for her inflexible stand against wall funding. "President Trump made a brilliant political move, and good for the country, to go to the middle -- wall plus DACA plus TPS. I've had more Democratic senators talk to me in the last two days than talk to me in the last 30 days," Graham said. "The harder Nancy Pulosi goes left and the more Trump goes to the middle, we're going to get this thing solved."The Senate on Thursday will take up two measures, neither of which is expected to pass. One, proposed by Democrats, would temporarily reopen those government agencies that are partially shut down, giving both sides time to negotiate border security while allowing federal workers to get paid. The other is President Trump's proposal -- a resumption of government funding in exchange for wall money and other border security measures as well as a three-year extension of legal status for DACA recipients and people with Temporary Protected Status (TPS). Package Despite Ongoing Shutdown

{thepoliticalinsider.com} ~ Speaker of the House Nancy Pulosi is reportedly preparing a spending package for border-security measures despite the ongoing government shutdown... Pulosi is considering this spending package despite vowing to not negotiate on any border-security measures until the current shutdown is ended. Here’s what she said in a recent statement regarding Trump’s latest proposal to reopen the government and build a border wall in exchange for offering a safety period to so-called DACA recipients: “Democrats were hopeful that the President was finally willing to re-open government and proceed with a much-need discussion to protect the border. Unfortunately, initial reports make clear that his proposal is a compilation of several previously rejected initiatives, each of which is unacceptable and in total, do not represent a good faith effort to restore certainty to people’s lives.” Pulosi is playing hardball, refusing to acknowledge or consider any deal that would give Trump anything he wants on border security in order to open the government. But, it appears, that may be changing. Politico reports this morning that Pulosi is considering a border-security spending measure in order to entice Trump into reopening the government. SPEAKER NANCY PELOSI (D-CALIF.) and her Democratic leadership are cobbling together a $5-billion-plus border security offer — a big step for a party that said it wouldn’t negotiate with the government closed. Lowey, the chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee, appeared on MSNBC to discuss the government shutdown and highlight Democrats' push to fund the rest of the government before negotiating border security funding. "There's a new offer that will be coming from the Democrats that includes potentially up to $5.7 billion or more for border security, including funding for a smart wall. Can you tell us exactly what a smart wall is?" Host Katy Tur asked. Lowey said the proposal that Tur mentioned was "interesting" but said there was "no consensus" currently. She added, "When the government is open, we will work together, hopefully in a bipartisan way. And I want you to know as an appropriator, I always work across the aisle. And then we'll come up with a plan that makes sense." House Democrats announced on Wednesday that they were readying a funding counteroffer to President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly asked for $5.7 billion to fund the border wall. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D., Miss.), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, told reporters they would "meet or exceed" $5.7 billion for border security, but they wouldn't provide money for a physical wall... Fact Checker After Receiving ‘Three Pinocchios’

{freebeacon.com} ~ Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.) on Thursday slammed Glenn Kessler, a columnist for the Washington Post‘s "Fact Checker," after he gave her a "Three Pinocchio" rating... Kessler published a fact check Thursday morning in response to commie-Ocasio-Cortez's comments earlier in the week about minimum wage and a living wage. He rated it false, but commie-Ocasio-Cortez blasted the research he used in the fact check. "If the point of fact-checking is to enforce some objective standard, why would @GlennKesslerWP use a Walmart-funded think tank as reference material for wage fairness?" commie-Ocasio- Cortez tweeted. "That’s like citing the foxes to fact-check the hens."The author of the study that commie-Ocasio-Cortez implied was corrupted by corporations is former President scumbag/liar-nObama's chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, Jason Furman. Kessler pointed this out in a pair of reply tweets that added further information....
Pulosi's SOTU Shutdownby Nate Jackson: “Trump caves.” “Pulosi wins.” Those are the types of headlines circulating today after President Donald Trump announced Wednesday night, “As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pulosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address. I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative — I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over. I am not looking for an alternative venue for the SOTU Address because there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber. I look forward to giving a ‘great’ State of the Union Address in the near future!”
This back and forth has now continued for more than a week as the two continue to tussle over the 34-day-old partial government shutdown, now the longest in history. (Meanwhile, 800,000 government workers will almost certainly miss another paycheck Friday.) Trump sent Pulosi a letter announcing his intent to accept her original invitation to give the SOTU on Jan. 29. She responded with a letter denying the president access to the House chamber.
Trump’s concession was, for him, remarkably magnanimous. He entertained suggestions to give the speech from the Oval Office, the Senate chamber, the border, or some other venue — any of which arguably would have elevated the address by setting it apart from the increasingly pompous spectacle it has become. What better way to “drain the Swamp” than to blow up an unnecessary and vacuous tradition? It would seem, however, that Trump the Showman determined that conceding this battle may help him win the war.
Yet how that victory will come is not at all evident. Democrats are reportedly ready to reopen the government and give Trump $5.7 billion for border security with one huge caveat: The money isn’t for a wall. Given that Democrats have already rejected Trump’s concessions on Dreamers, it’s clear they’re negotiating in bad faith. Perhaps Trump is calculating that the more disruption is caused by the shutdown — like no SOTU — the more likely Democrats are to eventually cave. But Pulosi has called the border wall “immoral” and we’re inclined to think she’d rather not sit behind Trump sucking her teeth in defeat while he exults in his triumph at the podium. So where this goes from here is anyone’s guess.

I do believe Trump will call a Nat emergency and I also know the dems will sue. They think they know everything but they are wrong if they do.
Our school system has been going down hill since the 60s no matter how much money we put in. But I do hope that it will improve.
