Capital One Says ‘No’ to Democrats

This time they are targeting his bank records. As reported by SaraACarter.com, last month three top House of Representatives democrats, Rep. scumbag-Elijah Cummings (D-MD), Rep. scumbag/mad-Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Rep. scumbag-Adam Schiff (D-CA) requested documentation from Capital One Bank related to the President’s business holdings. Capital One responded that they are preserving the records but “given the confidentiality obligations we have as a financial institution, including under state and federal law we respectfully request that any production of materials be made pursuant to a subpoena rather than an informal request.” House Oversight Committee Member Rep. Harley Rouda (D-CA) reacted on the Capital One response saying that it was a reasonable response from that company and that this is now part of an ongoing investigation. “We need to use subpoena power if those are the records that we Democrats want to bring in into investigation,” said Rep. Attorney General William Barr Hits Back Against Criticism of dirty cop-Mueller Report Handling

by westernjournal.com: Attorney General William Barr is defending his handling of special counsel dirty cop-Robert Mueller’s report on the Russia investigation... saying the confidential document contains sensitive grand jury material that prevented it from being immediately released to the public. The statement Thursday came as Barr confronts concerns that his four-page letter summarizing dirty cop-Mueller’s conclusions unduly sanitized the full report in President Donald Trump’s favor, including on the key question of whether the president obstructed justice. House Democrats on Wednesday approved subpoenas for dirty cop-Mueller’s entire report and any exhibits and other underlying evidence that the Justice Department might withhold. The disparity in length between Barr’s letter and dirty cop-Mueller’s full report, which totals nearly 400 pages, raises the likelihood of additional significant information that was put forward by the special counsel’s office but not immediately shared by the attorney general. In Thursday’s statement, Barr defended the decision to release a brief summary letter two days after receiving the report on March 22. He has previously said he did not believe it would be in the public’s interest to release the full document in piecemeal or gradual fashion, and that he did not intend for his letter summarizing dirty cop-Mueller’s “principal conclusions” to be an “exhaustive recounting” of the special counsel’s investigation. Barr is now expected to release the entire report, with redactions, by mid-April.“Given the extraordinary public interest in the matter, the Attorney General decided to release the report’s bottom-line findings and his conclusions immediately — without attempting to summarize the report — with the understanding that the report itself would be released after the redaction process,” the Justice Department statement said. Assessing US policy priorities in the Middle East

If I may, I’d like to suggest an amendment to the question you pose in this hearing: You ask, “What are US policy priorities in the Middle East?” That question cannot be answered without asking what the United States seeks to achieve in the region. If our only interest is the immediate suppression of ISIS, our leaders should feel free to declare “Mission Accomplished” for the few weeks or months in which that mission will, briefly, have been done. But for those of us who recognize that ISIS is the fourth iteration of al Qaeda in Iraq, and that, because of the current shape of the resolution of hostilities in Syria, it will be back in one form or another, sooner or later, the truth is that our mission is far from accomplished. Indeed, it seems right to question what our mission actually is, not just in Syria, but throughout the region. The real question before us is “what is the just and lasting endgame for the United States in the Middle East?” We can talk about Syria, or Iraq, or Iran, or Yemen or Saudi Arabia in endless detail. And your members can offer more legislation disincentivizing terrorism or incentivizing cooperation with US allies, or arming good guys and sanctioning bad guys; but without an end game, our policies are nothing more than this year’s tactics. Every single president of the United States since the end of World War II has been entangled in a crisis in the Middle East for a crisis he did not expect when he was elected. { jihadwatch.org } ~ An Albanian national who talked about joining ISIS and attacking random people to avenge a shooting at a New Zealand mosque was arrested at a gun range in Montana... authorities said Thursday. Fabjan Alameti, 21, appeared before a U.S magistrate judge Thursday on charges of possession of a firearm by an unlawful user of a controlled substance and making false statements involving international and domestic terrorism. U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeremiah Lynch ordered him detained for further proceedings. Alameti’s federal public defender, John Rhodes, did not immediately return a call for comment Thursday. The FBI had been tracking Alameti since he made pro-ISIS comments on Facebook in 2018, FBI Special Agent Matthew Duermeier said in a sworn statement filed with the court. Starting in January of this year, Alameti spoke with a federal informant about fighting with the terrorist organization in Iraq and plotting an attack in the U.S. against a military facility, recruitment center, government building, “gay club” or Jewish temple, Duermeier said... March Jobs Numbers Bounce Back Bigly

Thomas Gallatin: Following February’s lackluster jobs report, many economists surmised that it was merely a minor blip on an otherwise booming economy. Given the March jobsnumbers, it appears that assessment was accurate, as the U.S. economy added a healthy 196,000 jobs last month. This marks the 102nd consecutive month of job gains, which have ramped up precipitously following President Donald Trump’s election. The current headline unemployment rate held steady at 3.8%, as did the fuller measure at 7.3%. The average hourly earnings rate is 3.2% higher than a year ago, and wage growth has now more than doubled the annual inflation rate.

The nation’s future economic outlook is bright. The New York Times reports, “The number of people filing for unemployment benefits for the first time has declined to lows not seen in decades, and recent surveys of the construction and manufacturing industries did not suggest that employers were pulling back.”

All this economic news it good for Americans, and it’s good for Trump as well. But good economic news is usually bad for Democrats. Assuming the economy doesn’t take an unforeseen dramatic downturn prior to the 2020 election (and we do have a long way to go), Trump will be difficult to defeat for any Democrat challenger. Since 1933, only three presidents have lost their reelection bids — Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and George H.W. Bush. What did all those presidents have in common? Well, as James Carville famously opined, it’s “the economy, stupid.” They all faced significant economic downturns on their watch.

As for Trump? The Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein notes that he “can boast of having presided over the lowest recorded average unemployment rate of any of his predecessors at this point in their presidencies.”

So, while the current polling numbers show Trump seemingly underwater with an approval rating hovering in the low 40s, history shows that in a good economy voters almost always opt for staying the course rather than seeking change. That’s good news for Trump and bad news for Democrats.

It appears that many in the current field of Democrat presidential candidates have recognized this reality, which explains why they’re busy spinning the good economy as somehow bad. The problem is the economy is doing so well that even The Washington Post refuses to go to bat for them and instead has called out several Democrats for their “flat-out falsehood.” Here’s hoping the good economy keeps on chugging along. ~The Patriot Post
