House prepares for telework scenarios
amid coronavirus threat
By Chad Pergram & Louis Casiano
{ foxnews.com } ~ A memo regarding congressional operations and the coronavirus threat sent to all House offices by the House Administration Committee on Friday signals... the House is seriously preparing for scenarios where staff may have to telework “in light of the unique and unusual circumstances presented by the coronavirus." The memo obtained by Fox News indicates House offices may allocate unused funds to purchase telework equipment, such as computers and additional phones. On March 9, the House will set up a special center to prepare the infrastructure for telework scenarios. "This will provide the opportunity for staff to receive technical assistance they may need to be prepared to work remotely," the memo states. "Training will also be provided on how to remotely connect and access your office data and resources. "All of these measures will help House offices improve their emergency preparedness in general and we urge offices to take advantage of the types of assistance highlighted below," the memo continued. The announcement comes as Washington lawmakers who attended the American Israel Public Affairs Committee's (AIPAC) annual policy conference were warned by the organization Wednesday that a group of attendees had potentially been in contact with a person from New York who had contracted coronavirus. More than 18,000 people from across the United States attended the conference, including Vice President Mike Pence, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. Nearly two dozen Democrats also attended, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck scumbag-Schumer, D-N.Y. In its email, AIPAC said no attendee of the conference has tested positive for the virus. A letter from the HAC to lawmakers said that the Office of Attending Physician at the Capitol has advised that being at the conference only constituted as an "indirect exposure" to coronavirus.

Group Holds Pro-Iran Rally Outside
of White House in Support of Terrorists
by steadfastclash.com ~ For the life of me, I don’t think I’ll ever figure this out. I honestly think that young people badly want to be someone and do something to stand out and make a difference and honestly feel important, so they’ll go along with anything... That must be why a group of Communist pro-Khamenei protesters gathered around the White House Saturday and held a protest SUPPORTING Iran! These people have no real concept of reality.First of all, they’re Communists which means that they are in favor of theft and tyrannical government. Don’t they know that Communism does not work? It never has, it never will. Secondly, how can they willingly say that they support a country and a culture that hates us, wants to kill us, and is everything they gripe and complain about in the U.S? These nutjobs hate Trump for a number of reasons, but one of them being that he is supposedly “anti-gay”. Do they know that Iran executes homosexuals in violent ways? People here think that they can sleep with whoever they want. Do they know that they’d execute you for that as well? Decide to convert out of Islam and exercise a freedom of religion? Sorry, you’re getting executed for that also. And they are protesting because we retaliated and took out a known terrorist who recently attacked the U.S. and has killed over 600 Americans. Is this really the guy you want to be defending? Democrats in Washington expressed concerns that Iran could tap its international network of proxies, which Soleimani was in charge of directing and launching attacks on the U.S. or American interests across the globe. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei responded by vowing “harsh retaliation” over the attack. The Trump administration has defended the strike against Soleimani, who oversaw groups that have clashed with U.S. troops in Iraq since the 2003 invasion, saying he had American blood on his hands and was planning another imminent attack. (MSN) Look I get it, no one wants war with Iran. I definitely don’t. But pacifism gets you nowhere.

U.S. Jewish Community Takes Precautions
to Avoid Coronavirus
By ZACHARY LESHIN
{ jewishjournal.com } ~ In response to concerns regarding the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Jewish communities in the U.S. are taking precautions to reduce the potential of the disease spreading further... A Jewish lawyer who lives in New Rochelle in New York’s Westchester County and works at a law firm in Manhattan tested positive for COVID-19 despite no recent travel to any of the countries heavily impacted by the virus. The man, who has the second confirmed case of COVID-19 in New York, is currently hospitalized in New York-Presbyterian /Columbia University Medical Center in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, while his wife and children are under self-quarantine at home. The man had an underlying respiratory condition when he became infected. A number of Jewish institutions in the greater New York City area have closed out of concern that COVID-19 might spread among those who have come into contact with the family, and there are other Jewish institutions that are taking precautionary measures. The son of the initial Jewish patient, who is a student at Yeshiva University, also tested positive. Yeshiva University canceled all classes on their campuses in Washington Heights and Midtown until after Purim March 10, including undergraduate and in-person graduate courses and the boy’s high school. Yeshiva University also postponed all social events on those campuses until further notice, and is discouraging people from congregating in common areas. Two students who were considered high risk for exposure due to close contact with the infected student, including the student’s roommate, were tested and came up negative for the virus. Several synagogues and day schools in and around New Rochelle have temporarily closed. Young Israel of New Rochelle, where the initial Jewish patient attended services on February 22 and 23, has canceled davening through March 8. Salanter Akiba Riverdale High School in the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx will be closed through March 10, while it’s lower school, Salanter Akiba Riverdale Academy, where the daughter of the initial Jewish patient is a student, will be closed through March 9. Too Much Economic Dependency on ChinaLewis Morris America’s dependence on China for goods in many ways has been a drag on our economy for decades, and if this wasn’t clear to us before, the coronavirus ought to help put it into perspective.
China played a rigged game for the better part of 40 years to tilt the worldwide economic balance of power in its favor. Manipulating its currency, engaging in illegal trade practices, industrial espionage, and other dirty tactics should have isolated the totalitarian regime from global trade. Instead, China was rewarded by convincing many major American and European manufacturers to set up shop there. Furthermore, it used low-paid and sometimes prison labor to manufacture and sell goods in the American market and elsewhere so cheaply that other countries simply couldn’t afford to compete at that level and remain in business.
It wasn’t until Donald Trump became president that the United States finally acted against China’s underhanded tactics. But it will take more than some strategic tariffs to undo the damage done by the communist regime — and previous administrations.
The coronavirus outbreak — which followed China’s three-week New Year break — has all but brought Chinese manufacturing and exports to a halt. U.S. businesses reliant on components from China are facing long wait-times for delivery that range from six to 15 weeks. These major disruptions to the global supply chain will cost American businesses billions of dollars as they work to reschedule construction projects, adjust product orders, and attempt to belay investor concerns. Global tech giants Microsoft, Apple, and Nintendo are all already looking at reduced second-quarter earnings.
One particularly unhealthy aspect of our dependence on China is that country’s dominance of the medical supply chain. Large portions of major American pharmaceuticals are manufactured in China, and we could face a shortage of these products.
Goldman Sachs predicts stagnant earnings growth for the rest of 2020, and best estimates put current investment losses tied to the coronavirus at $2 trillion. Cooler heads on Wall Street still maintain that the stock market is experiencing a course correction and not taking a dive. Of course, Democrats and their Leftmedia propagandists are fanning the flames of panic. They would love nothing more than to see a ravaged American economy because that is the surest way to defeat Trump in November.
It could be, though, that the coronavirus outbreak that has been symbolic of our economic dependence on China could also be the thing that ultimately breaks that hold. Researchers have noted that the virus outbreak comes at a time when China is facing a series of challenges to its economic power. Its economy has been slowing for several years, the country has saturated global markets to the point that expanding exports is quite challenging, and the Trump tariffs dealt it a severe economic blow. And let us not forget that China is a totalitarian regime oppressing its people and seeking hegemony by means of force; it’s not generally considered a model for long-term economic success.
This doesn’t mean that the U.S. has to stand by and wait for China to fall by the wayside, because it may not. Instead, our great nation needs to be more proactive by not only diversifying overseas investments and manufacturing but pushing hard to invest in America First. The United States should lead the world in manufacturing, and moving toward such leadership and care for our own citizens should be paramount in the minds of America’s leading corporations and its elected leaders.
