I don't enjoy shopping as most females do. If I can't buy it online, then its probably not worth buying. I did encounter something Thursday, that I was forced to just shake my head at. I saw an advertisement for a company called displayed in their title, "Proud Americans". I wanted to order a new stand for my Ipad, and they happened to have one that appealed to me. I attempted to place the order on line, which is nothing out of the ordinary for me, I do this often, and with no problems. However during the checkout process, I got a messesge, not once, but 3 times that read "error during checkout, not successful". Considering I am not a patient person, I went to another site and place the order. Later that day, looking at my bank account on line, I saw the first company did in fact charge me for the transaction. No big deal, I attempted to contact them via email, (got another error msg) then by phone. I called the 800 number, guess who answered? I don't actually know because I could not understand them! I do what I always do in this case, and ask for someone that speaks English. I was finally routed to a man that spoke poor English, but at least I could understand it. I ultimately posed the question to him, "where is your company located", answer, "India". I mentioned the American owned information on the website, and Abu told me, he did think the company had a Canadian ower. Hardly American!  Needless to say, I stopped the charges.  Watch who you buy from.

  • The Bill of Rights is Part of the Constitution.

As to the rest, Again Good Luck.

I agree the U.S. has nothing to be sorry for. Some of the rest of America may have, but we, The United States if America, do not.

  • Good Luck!

Have you published a Mission Statement yet?

  • OR TO PERISH!!
  • Yes! It is UP TO US TO FIX IT!
  • You are saying nothing new, Leah.
  • The problem lies with the political system. Not that the system itself is bad, but how it is being manipulated by the "Powers That Be". This includes BOTH PARTIES. It started with the Damocryts and has spread, like a plague, to infest the Republ I Can'ts. There are a few that still hold faith with the U.S. Constitution and the U.S. Americans, but they are getting fewer and farther between with each succeeding procession.

And, if you would care to take a look, you will find that it was with the ratification of the 16th Amendment, income taxes, that the value of the U.S. Dollar started to decline. Then divorcing it from the Gold Standard and the creation of the Fed, followed by eliminating even the Silver Standard, have simply hastened the process.

It is not the cost of goods and services but, as you so rightly pointed out, the falling value of the U.S. Dollar, as well as excessive taxation, that are destroying our Economy and our Nation. Couple this with the invasion by Foreign Citizens entering this Nation illicitly and illegally stealing jobs from U.S. Citizens who then become virtual Wards of the State and further burden our system by consuming tax dollars that could be better spent, and you have a recipe for disaster.

As to "Who IS AT FAULT?" That is US! WE have allowed this crap to happen! And it is up to US to fix it or perish!

  • Aside from the "price fixing", what you are referring to as "wage cuts", which was a proven failure in Germany in the 1930's and again in the U.S. in the 1970's, and everywhere else it has been tried, you almost repeated what I said; only with specifics to make it sound more inclusive.

We are in essential agreement, Leah. I just believe it is better to grow the economy than to place it into a stranglehold. On all of the rest we are saying the same thing but using different words.

  • Well, you got real close there Leah.

I just have a small disagreement with that final comment. It is time to cut frivolous Federal spending: reduce the waste, drop the incentives for able bodied U.S. Citizens to sit at home on their butts, for young women to turn into baby factories, and eliminate the incentives for Citizens from Foreign Nations to invade our Nation and STEAL jobs that U.S. Citizens should rightly have. Once we have done these things, and similar others, we can relieve the oppressive yoke of excessive taxation.

This will help reinvigorate the U.S. Economy and strengthen the U.S. Dollar. Then those companies that have found the "overseas" market so enticing will be beating each other to return here.

The wage of the U.S. worker is not the problem. It is the Value for the Expense. And right now that value is being plundered by our own Lawmakers on Capital Hill.

  • That is a horse of a different color.

    "Made in U.S.A."

Oh, wait a minute here. you wrote "made in USA". HMMMM

When I was growing up, we were heavy into the starting phases of importing small items from Japan, and they had not yet proven themselves to be worth the money. My parents cautioned me to look carefully at the label.

Watch out for those marked "made in USA". If the label did not say "Made in U.S.A." then it might have been made in "Usa", Japan.

I thought it was some hind of a joke, but there really is a Usa Prefecture in Japan.

I don't know Susan. Check them labels.

    All in fun.

But that was a true story. As to the call center being in India? Outsourcing, pure and simple. That is another reason I tend to avoid shopping on-line whenever possible.

    Have a Good Day

    Doug

  • OK Doug, point well taken.  However I should have elaborated on the fact that this website said "made in USA", and displayed our flag, not Canada's.  You must admit, it is at least very misleading, not to mention they are actually working out of India, at least for their call center.
