Through Christmas, the coming of our Savior into the world, we have the greatest of all hopes. We were once lost, separated from our Creator in Whose image we were made. We were dead in our trespasses and sins. But God, who is rich in mercy, sent His Son into the world to pay that penalty, take on that debt, and give us His righteousness that we might have eternal hope. So now we have a hope that although “now we see in a mirror dimly, [one day we will see God] face to face” (1 Corinthians 13:12 ESV). And that is the hope the angels spoke of when they told the shepherds a Savior had been born to them. That is the hope of Christmas.
