. Nunes, Flynn and the Swirling Russia Story
By Todd Johnson: Watergate. Deep Throat. Those were just a couple of the loaded words thrown around in the media last week during the coverage of both Representative Devin Nunes, who is the chairman of the House intelligence committee investigating President Donald Trump's alleged ties to Russia, and Lieutenant General (Ret.) Mike Flynn, whose attorney asked the FBI and congressional investigators to provide criminal immunity to his client in exchange for testimony. However, in their rush to make a judgment on individual motives, much of the fourth estate missed the fact that the American government has a problem with safeguarding intelligence, as well as a perceived inability to avoid incidental collection on its citizens.
Before diving into the federal challenges with protecting classified information, it's important to acknowledge up front that both Nunes' and Flynn's activities over the last few weeks have been at best, aleatory, and at worst, duplicitous. Nunes' statements have not been forthright and he hasn't been upfront with his colleagues on the committee that he chairs. His tendency to obfuscate when asked probing questions has not only hurt his individual reputation but the institution in which he currently serves. He's supposed to be leading the congressional investigation of Donald Trump's ties to Russia, but is acting almost as a Trump surrogate.
Flynn, unlike Nunes, has been off the public radar since he was fired from the National Security Advisor position by President Trump when it was leaked that Flynn lied to Vice President Mike Pence about contacts that he had with the Russian ambassador during the transition period. Flynn's trustworthiness has continued to be questioned since his removal, most recently when it was discovered he failed to disclose payments from Russian related entities in 2015.
While both men's objectionable behavior leaves much to be desired, the media are missing the more important story. Rather than focusing on Nunes' and Flynn's transgressions, they should be devoting resources to why the federal government's intelligence reports are being leaked and how information from foreign collection is being distributed through the White House.
The House Intelligence investigation into Russia's attempts to influence the 2016 presidential election and whether there was inappropriate monitoring of the Trump campaign by Barack liar-nObama's administration marks an important inflection point in our nation's history. It marks the first time in the 21st century that the federal legislative branch is devoting significant amounts of time and resources to determining whether a foreign adversary tried to influence a national election. But, more importantly, this could determine whether a sitting president's administration leveraged information collected on U.S. citizens through the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) to adversely affect an incoming administration.
The FISA program has been around since 1978 and it has been amended over the years, most substantively in 2008. A significant section of FISA, Section 702, is set to expire by the end of the 2017 unless Congress takes action. A debate is starting to brew between staunch advocates of the program and those who feel it cuts at civil liberties. Backers in both the intelligence community and federal government laud FISA as an indispensable tool against those who would do harm to the United States. Proponents argue that this program has made the homeland more secure from attack, but at what cost?
Abuses have occurred, most recently in 2015, when members of Congress were caught up in the National Security Agency's surveillance of Israeli government officials during the U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations. Last week, syndicated columnist Eli Lake noted that this experience enabled the liar-nObama administration to "learn about the strategy of its domestic political opposition through legal wiretaps of a foreign head of state and his aides."
Hence the reason why Nunes has tried to determine if the same thing happened to Trump and his associates during the transition period. Additionally, Nunes wants to ascertain who leaked Flynn's name and the contents of his phone call to the Russian ambassador.
While Nunes insists he has seen evidence that the liar-nObama administration surveilled Trump's incoming administration, he hasn't been able to back up his claims. Only time will tell what facts will be uncovered. That's why it is imperative that Nunes and his colleagues be given the opportunity to explore all avenues to ascertain whether any criminal activity took place in the last days of Barack liar-nObama's presidency. ~The Patriot Post

Reality on Israeli Settlements

Media outlets CNN, BBC and the NY Times wasted no time publishing stories that distort the truth, if not outright lie... These mistakes range from offering a false impression of reality to actually getting facts wrong. Such elementary mistakes expose the disconnect between mainstream media outlets and basic truths of the Israel-Palestinian conflict. For example, CNN wrote that this is Israel’s ‘first new settlement in Palestinian territory in more than 20 years’. The first part of the sentence is misleading and the second part is false. Israel has not built new communities in Judea and Samaria because it has given numerous chances for the Palestinian leadership to come to the table and reach an agreement. The second part of the statement asserts that Israel is building in Palestinian territory. Strong Arm Needed For Abortion

{tommclaughlin.blogspot.com} ~ “Calling them babies is creepy,” said Arizona abortionist Dr. DeShawn Taylor, referring to what she surgically removes from women. She admitted on a video released four weeks ago that she routinely did abortions on healthy babies up to 24 weeks. She also admitted that late-term babies born alive after her abortion attempts are sometimes killed, but that depends on who is in the room at the time.
Rather than dismember a late-term baby in utero, she tries instead to deliver it intact so as to salvage organs and other tissue for possible sale: “It’s not a matter of how I feel about it coming out intact,” she says, ”but I gotta worry about my staff and people’s feelings about it coming out looking like a baby.”
It comes out looking like a baby, Dr. Taylor, because it is a baby.
The investigative journalists recording Dr. Taylor said they wanted to buy baby parts for biomedical research and were interested in intact bodies not “mashed” by the usual abortion procedures. Dr. Taylor said she prefers to deliver the body intact because it requires a lot of strength to tear off pieces. Here’s how she described it: “I remember when I was a [Family Planning] Fellow and I was training, I was like, Oh, I have to hit the gym for this,” because ripping off legs and other parts required strong biceps in the arm holding the forceps.
She was laughing as she said this. I was horrified, as anyone with an ounce of humanity left in them would be. The video is politically explosive. Though it was released four weeks ago, you won’t see it on NBC, CBS, ABC, or CNN. Formerly medical director for Planned Parenthood, Arizona, Dr. Taylor now owns her own abortion clinic in Phoenix, where she happily reports her “market share” is up.
Sometimes the baby is born alive in spite of Dr. Taylor’s attempts to kill it during the abortion. “In Arizona,” she said. “if the fetus comes out with any signs of life, we’re supposed to transport it. To the hospital.”

“Well, the thing is,” said Taylor, “I mean the key is, you need to pay attention to who’s in the room, right?” Then she laughed again. I cringed. She obviously implied that she kills the living child if no one who might object is present to see her. That’s murder — homicide — because once a baby is entirely outside its mother’s body, it’s legally a human being. Ask abortionist Dr. Kermit Gosnell. He’s serving life in prison for doing what Taylor laughs about.
Infanticide and conspiring to sell body parts are both felonies. So how did authorities react? Three weeks after releasing the video, the two investigative journalists who made it, David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, were indicted in California on fifteen felony counts. Attorney David French, writing in National Review, described the charges as: “recording alleged ‘confidential communications’ between complete strangers at public conferences and at public restaurants.”
French points out that animal rights activists secretly recorded conversations about the mistreatment of ducks at a California farm and reported it to authorities who then investigated the farm. In another case it was a secretly recorded conversation about mistreatment of chickens, and again California responded with an investigation. At no point were the animal rights advocates admonished for secretly recording conversations, much less indicted for it. I guess we can assume that ducks and chickens are more important than babies in California.
Pressured by citizens in Texas who watched Daleiden’s videos about similar Planned Parenthood practices in that state, Houston District Attorney Devon Anderson empaneled a grand jury to indict PP, which does 350,000 abortions a year nationwide. Since grand jury proceedings are secret, we cannot know what Anderson presented to jurists behind closed doors, but rather than indict PP for selling baby parts, they turned around and indicted Daleiden for exposing it. A year ago, I published a column documenting this. The charges were later dropped, but Houston’s Planned Parenthood still has not been brought to justice as of this writing.
See a pattern here? Daleiden’s investigative journalism exposed things so horrible, the left cannot bear to leave them out there unchallenged. They know their charges against Daleiden serve only to harass him, to cost him money and time, and to discourage him from doing any more investigating. Democrat Attorney General Kamala Harris raided Daieiden’s home and confiscated his computer, his hard drives, and the rest of his unpublished videos. Then she was elected to the US Senate. New Attorney General Xavier Becerra, also a Democrat, brought the charges. According the Washington Free Beacon, both received over $45,000 from Planned Parenthood and NARAL — the National Abortion Rights Action League.
