Iran reports 2,336 cases of the new coronavirus,

at least 77 dead; MPs hit hard

by foxnews.com ~ Iran on Tuesday announced new measures to slow the spread of the new coronavirus and reported that the country has seen 2,336 cases and 77 deaths since the outbreak... An Iranian lawmaker reportedly has told colleagues to stop their contact with public as there are 23 cases of the new coronavirus among parliament members. That's according to lawmaker Abdolreza Mesri, who was quoted by Iranian state television's Young Journalists Club program. Iran’s supreme leader earlier on Tuesday ordered the Islamic Republic’s armed forces to assist its Health Ministry in combating the spread of the new coronavirus. The decision by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei comes as Iran has seen the highest death toll from the new virus and the COVID-19 illness it causes outside of China, the epicenter of the virus. After downplaying the coronavirus as recently as last week, Iranian authorities now say they have plans to potentially mobilize 300,000 soldiers and volunteers to confront the virus. Concern over the outbreak now stretches to Iran's top leadership — some of whom have fallen ill from the virus. An activist group also said Tuesday that Wikipedia's Farsi-language website appeared to be disrupted in Iran after a close confidant to the supreme leader died of the new coronavirus. The advocacy group NetBlocks linked the death of Expediency Council member Mohammad Mirmohammadi to the disruption, though Iranian officials and its state media did not immediately acknowledge it. Authorities face increasing criticism from the Iranian public over the outbreak amid concerns the number of cases from the virus may be higher than currently reported. The disruption raises fears of Iran potentially shutting off the internet entirely again, as it did for a week during economic protests in November. Iran separately has created its own so-called “halal” net of government-approved websites. Experts still worry Iran’s percentage of deaths to infections, now around 4.4%, is much higher than other countries, suggesting the number of infections in Iran may be far greater than current figures show. Saudi Arabia and Jordan meanwhile announced their first cases of the virus Monday...

US Surgeon General Pleads: 'Stop Buying Masks!'

They are best used for those with the virus, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Jerome M. Adams' office Twitter account tweeted: "Seriously people- STOP BUYING MASKS! "They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus, but if healthcare providers can't get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!" Instead of buying a face mask, the CDC website lays out the following suggestions: Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Stay home when you are sick. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe. Follow CDC's recommendations for using a facemask. CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19. Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings at home or in a health care facility. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the brainchild of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren (D., Mass.), has faced numerous legal challenges from businesses and lawmakers since it was created by the 2010 Dodd-Frank bill. On Tuesday, lawyers for Seila Law LLC will ask the Supreme Court to declare the agency's structure unconstitutional. Unlike many other executive branch officials, the CFPB director does not serve at the pleasure of the president. Instead, the director can only be fired for cause, which the statute defines as "inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance in office." Critics of the restriction say it is unconstitutional because it vests a single person, who is not accountable to the president, with significant executive power. "If the president lacks the ability to remove an agency's head, the agency is unaccountable and cannot be ‘entrusted with executive powers.' That is precisely what took place here," Seila Law argued in a brief. The dispute arose when the agency issued a civil investigative demand (CID) into Seila Law to determine whether the firm broke consumer protection laws by allegedly charging clients illegal upfront fees for debt-management services. Seila Law refused to cooperate on the grounds that the agency's structure is unconstitutional, making its investigative demand invalid. The agency has prevailed against the firm in both a California federal court and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. The Trump administration declined to defend the structure of the CFPB in court. The Supreme Court appointed lawyer Paul Clement to argue for the agency's constitutionality...

The Department of Health and Human Services issued a statement regarding its efforts to address concerns about the virus testing kits, according to Axios. “HHS has launched an investigation and is assembling a team of non-CDC scientists to better understand the nature and source of the manufacturing defect in the first batch of COVID-19 test kits that were distributed to state health departments and others,” an HHS spokesperson said. “HHS/CDC have been transparent with the American people regarding the issue with the manufacturing of the diagnostic and will be transparent with the findings of this investigation.” According to Axios, concerns about the lab emerged after a visit from Timothy Stenzel, director of the Office of In Vitro Diagnostics and Radiological Health for the Food and Drug Administration. Axios, quoting a source it did not name, said Stenzel was “alarmed by the procedures he witnessed in the Atlanta laboratory and raised concerns with multiple CDC officials.” Politico reported that it was told by an unnamed HHS official that “there was an problem with lab test cleanliness that affected the rollout of the coronavirus tests.” As a result of the concerns, an inter-agency discussion ensued. Since then, FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn said the agencies are resolving the problems. The HHS spokesperson said about 75,000 people will be able to be tested this week. That compares against about 3,600 who have been tested overall since the outbreak of the virus. “Upon learning about the test issue from CDC, FDA worked with CDC to determine that problems with certain test components were due to a manufacturing issue,” Hahn said in a statement. “We worked hand in hand with CDC to resolve the issues with manufacturing. FDA has confidence in the design and current manufacturing of the test that already have and are continuing to be distributed. These tests have passed extensive quality control procedures and will provide the high-level of diagnostic accuracy we need during this coronavirus outbreak,” he said...

Pittsburgh County Sued Over Dead,

Duplicate Registrants on Voter Rolls

The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), an election integrity group, filed suit last week against Allegheny County's manager of elections and three members of its board of elections. The group says election officials failed to reasonably maintain the county's voter rolls in accord with federal and state law. The suit alleges that the rolls contain nearly 1,600 dead registrants and 7,500 registrants with erroneous information, among thousands of other discrepancies and illegal registrations. The lawsuit, which comes less than eight months before the 2020 elections, concerns a heavily Democratic county in an important battleground state. Donald Trump won Pennsylvania by 44,000 votes out of the 5.9 million votes cast in the state less than 1 point during the 2016 election. scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton and other Democratic leaders have attributed high-profile Democratic losses to "voter suppression," but PILF has found tens of thousands of ineligible registrations in battleground states. "We want two things for the citizens of Allegheny County," said Logan Churchwell, communications director for PILF. Smith and Henry introduced the segment with a clip from earlier in the show, when McDaniel had suggested that a contested convention could lead to attempts by the party establishment to undermine and push out Independent Vermont Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders. “It is leading towards potentially a brokered convention, which will be rigged against commie-Bernie if those superdelegates have their way on that second vote,” McDaniel said. Smith turned the question to Brazile then, asking what she made of McDaniel’s assessment. “First of all, stay the hell out of our race. Stay the hell out of our race,” Brazile began, addressing Republicans in general. “I get sick and tired, Ed and Sandra, of listening to Republicans tell me and the Democrats about our process. First of all, they don’t have a process. They are canceling primaries. They have winner take all. They don’t have the kind of democracy that we see on the Democratic side, and for people to use Russian talking points to sew division among Americans — that is stupid.” Brazile then turned her ire directly on McDaniel, adding, “So Ronna, go to hell. President Trump’s White House press conference Wednesday was a striking contrast to the left’s carping and its attempts to politicize the coronavirus. The left politicizes everything — tornadoes, hurricanes, forest fires — so it’s no surprise that it is trying to score cheap political points with a virus.

For example, one reporter pressed the president to justify his appointment of Vice President Mike Pence to direct the government’s coronavirus response when he had previously suggested that a “virus czar” wasn’t necessary.

Really? That’s the most pressing question on her mind? She was more interested in trapping the president with a “gotcha” question than reporting news.

Suffice it to say that the president was there with top experts doing their best to protect the country, while there were plenty of reporters doing their best to divide the country.

Trump Takes Charge

At Wednesday’s press conference, President Trump and top officials from the Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control reassured the American people that we are prepared and taking all necessary actions. As I just noted, Trump also announced that Vice President Mike Pence would coordinate the government’s response efforts. (See next item.)

The American people should be reassured by this move. The vice president is a workhorse who knows how to inspire people. As governor of Indiana, Pence dealt with the first case of MERS in the United States, another form of coronavirus that originated in the Middle East.

Pence also has a strong relationship with HHS Secretary Alex Azar, a former top executive at Eli Lilly, a major U.S. pharmaceutical company headquartered in Indianapolis.

Yesterday, Pence announced that he will be assisted by Ambassador Debbie Birx, an expert in immunology who has led America’s global effort to combat the AIDS epidemic.

During his remarks, Trump repeatedly stressed that not one person in the United States has died from the coronavirus. In contrast, the flu kills anywhere from 25,000 to 70,000 Americans every year.

So far this year, at least 10,000 Americans have died from the flu. Tragically, many more children in America (105) have died from the flu this year than there are known coronavirus infections.

But our hysterical media and the political left are accusing the president of moving too slowly. It is absolutely astonishing that this has become such an absurd controversy.

Speaking of absurd, Sen. Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren is demanding that funding for the border wall be diverted to efforts to fight the coronavirus. What dinky/liar-Warren doesn’t understand is that the border wall is protecting us from the coronavirus.

As we have told you, there was a surge of Chinese nationals coming across the southern border just a few months ago. The last thing you want to do is slow down efforts to secure the southern border.

Coronavirus is now in Brazil. If there is a major outbreak in Central America, there will be caravans of “medical refugees” headed north, especially with progressives like dinky/liar-Warren and commie-Bernie Sanders promising free healthcare for illegal aliens.

Pence at CPAC

Vice President Pence addressed the annual Conservative Political Action Conference yesterday. He began his remarks by expressing the administration’s commitment to combatting the coronavirus. Here are some excerpts of his remarks:

President Donald Trump has no higher priority than the health, safety and well-being of the American people. Last month, following word of the outbreak of the coronavirus in China, President Trump took unprecedented action to protect the health of Americans.
He declared a public health emergency. He suspended travel to the United States from China. He initiated quarantine efforts for American citizens returning, and he established the White House Coronavirus Task Force, which has literally met every single day…
Yesterday, President Trump directed me to lead a whole of government approach to address the coronavirus in this country. And I promise you: We will continue to bring the full resources of the federal government to bear to protect the American people…
We’re all in this together. This is not the time for partisanship… This president will always put the health and safety of America first.

More Winning

As you know, the Trump administration is working hard to fight the left’s radical open-borders agenda. A key part of that agenda is the insane “sanctuary” movement where left-wing jurisdictions shield criminal illegal aliens from federal law-enforcement officials.

The Trump administration moved aggressively in its first days in office to confront this radical policy by cutting off federal grants to cities and states that refuse to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Predictably, Obama-appointed judges issued injunctions blocking the Department of Justice from punishing sanctuary cities.

Wednesday, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously affirmed the administration’s authority to suspend federal dollars to sanctuary cities.

This is a huge victory for President Trump, American taxpayers, and common sense. If progressive cities refuse to cooperate with federal law-enforcement officers, they should not get federal law-enforcement dollars!

Religious Broadcasters Honor Israel

I was honored to address a breakfast Wednesday at the National Religious Broadcasters annual convention. The breakfast, dedicated to honoring Israel, was sponsored by the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, Combat Anti-Semitism, and NRBTV. The audience was comprised of hundreds of Christians and Jews, Americans and Israelis.

My remarks were interrupted several times by applause from the enthusiastic audience. While gratified by the reaction, I was particularly encouraged by the number of radio-station managers and owners who told me how popular my daily radio commentary is in their communities.

A Ray of Hope?

The latest poll from the Sunshine State offers a ray of hope for loose lips liar-Joe Biden.

Previous polls showed Mike Bloomberg leading in Florida after a $50 million ad blitz. But now loose lips liar-Biden is once again in the lead with 34% to Bloomberg’s 25%. commie-Bernie Sanders is a distant third with just 10%. No other candidate received double-digit support.

The poll is likely evidence of commie-Bernie’s self-inflicted wound in a state where many people have escaped the evils of communism, and it seems to be evidence that loose lips liar-Biden is getting a second look from many voters after Bloomberg’s disastrous debate performances.

But this presents a potential nightmare for Democrats.

Billionaire Bloomberg won’t go away. He’s now run more ads than scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton ran during the entire 2016 campaign! Meanwhile, on America’s Left Coast, commie-Sanders appears to be consolidating his hold on California. Sadly, commie-Sanders’s defense of Cuba’s communist regime, while a burden in Florida, apparently isn’t a big deal to many Democrats elsewhere in the country.

If Bloomberg and loose lips liar-Biden keep battling it out, the anti-commie-Sanders vote will be split, allowing commie-Bernie to continue coming out on top, increasing the chances of a contested convention.

By the way, the Trump campaign is making an unprecedented bid to attract black voters. It’s opening up 15 Black Voices for Trump Community Centers in key battleground states, including five in Florida alone.
