Trump Aims to Set the Immigration Record Straight
Nate Jackson: As we noted back in August, Donald Trump's immigration plan was exactly why he was so appealing to Republican primary voters. Here was an outsider who promised to do what the establishment wouldn't — secure the border and deport millions of illegal aliens. Then came the general election, and Trump appeared to soften his stance. On Wednesday, however, he worked to set things straight with a significant speech on the subject. The question, then, is which Trump would take office and set policy?
Trump began the day with a huge gamble — making a visit to Mexico to meet with its president, Enrique Pena Nieto. We say gamble because it could have gone very badly for Trump if Nieto publicly repudiated him or if Trump failed to appear "presidential." But it paid off. The meeting was cordial, and Trump both appeared presidential and elevated a sense of cooperation with our southern neighbor. Such cooperation is essential to solving the immigration problem for both countries.
On the subject of deportations, Trump said yesterday, "According to federal data, there are at least two million criminal aliens now inside the country. We will begin moving them out day one, in joint operations with local, state and federal law enforcement. Beyond the two million, there are a vast number of additional criminal illegal immigrants who have fled or evaded justice. But their days on the run will soon be over. They go out, and they go out fast. Moving forward, we will issue detainers for all illegal immigrants who are arrested for any crime whatsoever, and they will be placed into immediate removal proceedings. We will terminate the nObama administration's deadly non-enforcement policies that allow thousands of criminal aliens to freely roam our streets."
He thus definitely softened his previous pledge to deport all (estimated) 11 million illegals as quickly as possible.
First deporting illegals guilty of other crimes is to us the common-sense position. But it also happens to be the position held by most of Trump's rivals for the nomination, including Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, whom Trump and his supporters derided as "globalists" supporting "amnesty." Trump also scoffed at Mitt Romney's 2012 plan to enforce employment law in such a way as to encourage self-deportation. Now that's also part of Trump's plan, as is waiting until enforcement works before deciding what to do with "those who remain." It's good to see him come around.
Trump very effectively made his case for deporting criminals by telling the stories of five people killed by illegals. "Countless Americans who have died in recent years would be alive today if not for the open border policies of this administration."
He also clearly set the terms of the debate, while rejecting the premise of the Left. "The central issue is not the needs of the 11 million illegal immigrants," he said. "Only out of touch media elites think the biggest problem facing American society today is that there are 11 million illegal immigrants who don't have legal status. To all the politicians, donors and special interests, hear these words from me today. There is only one core issue in the immigration debate and it is this: the well-being of the American people."
In short, his position as stated yesterday is essentially the — or at least an — orthodox Republican position. So back to our opening question: Which Trump would take office? By that, we mean to ask why he let the debate over his shifting stance simmer for the last two weeks, when the overall effect of this speech was to reiterate that he'd be the toughest president on immigration in a long time. That's what matters to voters. Trusting Trump (or any politician, for that matter) to follow through is another story.
And a parting thought from Trump, just this morning, after the speech: "Oh, there's softening. ... I think you're going to see there's really quite a bit of softening." ~The Patriot Post

OPINION IN BRIEF
Jeff Jacoby: "Political ambition and a taste for power exist in every society and era. But the insanity of marathons for the White House that last nearly two years is uniquely, humiliatingly American. I'm as ardent an American exceptionalist as they come, but not everything we do is an improvement on the way others do it. ... Canada's recent election campaign ... lasted a grand total of 78 days — the longest in Canadian history, but a blink compared with what Americans must endure. In Mexico, an election season lasts 150 days, start to finish. Britons are accustomed to election campaigns that consume five or six weeks. The preposterous duration of U.S. campaigns might be justifiable if it generated off-the-charts enthusiasm and voter participation. But it does just the opposite. Long before election day, Americans tell pollsters that they are sick and tired of the whole thing. And when the time to cast a ballot finally arrives, U.S. voter turnout is among the lowest in the world. Pretty much everything that's rotten with presidential campaigns ... is a function of their interminable length. Presidential campaigns weren't this endlessly exhausting in the past, and they don't have to be in the future." ~The Patriot Post

ISIS Terrorists Infiltrating Canada,
May Use for Entry to US
by Eric Mack
{newsmax.com} ~ The Mexican border might be getting a lot of the attention because of Donald Trump’s wall proposal, but terrorism threats coming to and from Canada can be a cause of concern as well... The Canadian government issued a public safety report in August, detailing its threat level as "medium" — "meaning a violent act of terrorism can occur in Canada" — and reporting 180 people traveling from Canada abroad have been "suspected of engaging in terrorism-related activities and another 60" extremist travelers had returned to Canada by the end of 2015. "They may have skills, experience and relationships developed abroad that could be used to recruit or inspire individuals in Canada. They may also engage in terrorist financing, helping others to travel, or even planning attacks in Canada."...

“I’m One Of You” – Jihadi Jeh Johnson
Tells Islamic Society Of North America
by Rick Wells
{rickwells.us} ~ No one who have been watching the mad rush to import as many Islamists as possible by this regime, the proclamations that Islam has nothing to do with Islamic terrorism and the CVE Islamic hand outs to terrorist incubating mosques will be surprised by the events of last Saturday... Homeland “Security” Secretary, chief dismantler of our national defensive capabilities and invasion facilitator, Jihadi Jeh Johnson spoke to the annual meeting of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). He delivered his speech at their conference in Chicago, declaring himself one of them and pledging his allegiance in their fight against American “injustice.” Johnson drew connections between himself, all black Americans and the Muslims intent on taking over our nation, referencing similar experiences with abuse, discrimination and disrespect delivered at the hands of the white devils...Johnson is one sick person.

liar-Clinton Turned Away High-Level
Chinese Defector to Assist Beijing Leaders
by Bill Gertz
{freebeacon.com} ~ Former secretary of state liar-Hillary Clinton turned away a high-ranking Chinese defector who sought political asylum after the communist police chief sought refuge in a U.S. consulate in southwestern China four years ago... Critics say liar-Clinton’s handling of the defection of Wang Lijun, a close aide to a regional Communist Party leader, was a blunder and lost opportunity for U.S. intelligence to gain secrets about the leaders of America’s emerging Asian adversary. Instead of sheltering Wang and granting him political asylum, liar-Clinton agreed to turn him over to Chinese authorities in Beijing. However, the defector’s case highlights liar-Clinton’s policy of seeking to preserve U.S. ties with China’s communist leadership instead of pursuing much-needed intelligence gathering on China at a time when Beijing is emerging as an increasingly threatening power... http://freebeacon.com/national-security/clinton-turned-away-high-level-chinese-defector-assist-beijing-leaders/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=604e503397-WFB_Morning_Beacon_09_06_169_5_2016&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-604e503397-45611665

liar-Clinton “Ignorant” About Server Scrub...
by Rick Wells
{rickwells.us} ~ The problem liar-Hillary Clinton will be facing now that she’s got the press accompanying her on her campaign plane is that they are much harder to run away from... They have microphones and cameras and sometimes will even ask questions and expect an answer. Today she was asked, deflected and asked in a follow up about her aides and her attorney David Kendall using bleach bit to get rid of any incriminating evidence on her bootleg illegal home server. As a stern-faced liar-Clinton stared on, the reporter noted, “Your aides used a method called Bleachbit to get rid of your emails 23 days after reported you had a private email server.” She asked, “Why did they do that and does that contribute to people’s suspicions about your email server?” liar-Clinton adopted her typical response, saying, “I don’t know anything about that. That was not something that I was aware of and I think the facts point out that there was no connection.”...

As the Cultural War rages, can we live together?
by Star Parker
{aim.org} ~ Religious liberty concerns continue to weigh heavily on church-going Americans. In a recent survey from Pew Research, 40 percent of those who reported attending church in the last few months said that clergy spoke about religious liberty... No other issue received more attention from clergy. And not surprisingly so. The aggressive growth of secularism in our nation, along with the natural outgrowth of this, the tendency of secularists to turn to big government to define and implement what they perceive as fair, is on a collision course with religious liberty... http://www.aim.org/guest-column/as-the-cultural-war-rages-can-we-live-together/?utm_source=AIM+-+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=email090616&utm_medium=email

Iran's nuclear timetable ... right now!
by Jerome R. Corsi
{wnd.com} ~ Amid the disclosure this week that the Obama administration has allowed Iran to continue secret efforts to enrich uranium and stockpile the heavy water needed to produce a plutonium nuclear weapon... a leading expert on the Iranian nuclear program remains concerned that Tehran could build a deliverable atomic bomb now. “We know for a fact that Iran already has the nuclear-capable missiles, including nose cones configured to carry nuclear weapons,” she said. “We also know that the IAEA years ago reported that Iran was working on forming the hemispheres of a bomb, as well as experiments testing the explosive charges required to set off a nuclear reaction implosion sequence.”... http://www.wnd.com/2016/09/irans-nuclear-timetable-right-now/

Muslims complain about town's 9/11 memorial
by Todd Starnes
{foxnews.com} ~ A group of New York Muslims has taken offense at a small town’s new memorial honoring those who died in the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks... The Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier fired off a letter to city leaders in Owego – alleging that words engraved in the granite memorial would encourage hatred toward Muslims. The memorial, which will be dedicated on Saturday, identifies those responsible for the attacks as “Islamic terrorists.” That’s a problem for the Islamic Organization of the Southern Tier, based in nearby Johnson City, N.Y. ... http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2016/09/06/muslims-complain-about-towns-911-memorial.html?cmpid=NL_tadspth

liar-Hillary in her own Words
by Alice Greene
{punchingbagpost.com} ~ This video clip shows Secretary of State liar-Hillary Clinton condemning security breaches following a massive release of confidential government information in November 2010... liar-Hillary says that such disclosures represent “an attack on the international community” and promises that such a breach will never happen again. Remember that while she was condemning the release of State Department cables by Wikileaks, she was leaking classified information to Russia, China, Al Quaida and whoever else, in her unsecure email service. “The United States strongly condemns the illegal disclosure of classified information. It puts peoples lives in danger, threatens our national security, and undermines our efforts to work with other countries to solve shared problems,” says liar-Clinton...Its forgotten or ok if she does it.

Impeach liar-Clinton to Bar Her from
Holding Federal Office - It’s Constitutional.
by Andrew C. McCarthy
{nationalreview.com} ~ For months, I have been arguing that liar-Hillary Clinton should be impeached. It is all well and good to prosecute a former government official for any crimes she has committed... Indeed, the Constitution expressly provides for criminal prosecution in addition to impeachment. Nevertheless, for the Framers — and, if we had common sense, for us — the imperative was to deprive a corrupt person of any further opportunity to abuse government power. Whether the official should also be convicted and sent to prison was not unimportant but, in the greater scheme of things, decidedly secondary. Interestingly, the main pushback I received upon positing this argument was not that Mrs. liar-Clinton is undeserving of impeachment. That, of course, is a measure of the seriousness of her high crimes and misdemeanors: the e-mail scandal; the reckless mishandling of classified information that has surely exposed our national-defense secrets to hostile powers; the mass destruction of thousands of government records after Congress asked for them; the obstruction of government investigations; the serial lies to Congress and the public; the shocking failure to provide security for Americans stationed in Benghazi and the failure to attempt to rescue them during a terrorist siege; the lies to the American people and to the families of murdered American officials about the cause of the attack; the trumping up of a prosecution against the video producer scapegoated for the Benghazi attack; the Clinton Foundation corruption involving the sale of influence for donations, the favors done for shady benefactors at the expense of national security, and the use of the State Department as an arm of the liar-Clinton pay-to-play enterprise...She is getting away with murder. http://www.nationalreview.com/article/439715/impeach-hillary-clinton-congress-has-power-do-it&ct=ga&cd=CAEYBSoSNjg2MTYzMzEwMTcxMjI1MTQ4Mho1NjIzMWEyMzIyYWMxOGVkOmNvbTplbjpVUw&usg=AFQjCNEG-pjNJF4zjK_iIoJhf9zhWby0Rg?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Daily%20Trending%20Email%20Reoccurring-%20Monday%20to%20Thursday%202016-09-06&utm_term=NR5PM%20Actives

Islamic Republic Seeking to Expand Global Reach,
Build Anti-US Axis in Latin America
by Barney Breen-Portnoy
American Foreign Policy Council Vice President Ilan Berman
{algemeiner.com} ~ Last year’s nuclear deal with world powers has emboldened Iran as it seeks to expand its global reach and build an anti-America axis in the Western hemisphere... an expert on the Islamic Republic told The Algemeiner on Tuesday. “The Iranians are really thinking big again,” Ilan Berman, vice president of the Washington, DC-based conservative think tank the American Foreign Policy Council, said. “They’ve always had a global vision, but for a long time they didn’t have the resources to capitalize on it. Now, as sanctions begin to fall away, their global vision is back front and center. They’re starting to think spatially, in terms of where they fit globally — in Europe, in Asia and in Latin America.” Iran’s relationship with Latin America, Berman said, began in the 1980s and its first significant act there was to help the Lebanese Shiite terrorist organization Hezbollah establish roots in the lawless tri-border area where Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina meet. This, Berman noted, resulted in Hezbollah developing the capability to carry out attacks in the Western hemisphere — which it did twice in Argentina in the first half of the 1990s... http://www.algemeiner.com/2016/09/06/iran-expert-post-nuclear-deal-emboldened-islamic-republic-seeking-to-expand-global-reach-build-anti-us-axis-in-latin-america-interview/#

Colorado's Anti-Fracking Crackup
by Michelle Malkin
{patriotpost.us} ~ If a pair of extreme green ballot measures fall in the Rocky Mountains and no one in the liberal media is paying attention, does the collapse make a sound?
This week, two anti-fracking initiatives backed by deep-pocketed environmental lobbying heavyweights, such as the Sierra Club and Greenpeace, failed to gather enough signatures. The more draconian of the efforts, Initiative 78, would have imposed a mandatory 2,500-foot setback around all oil and gas operations -- essentially halting drilling in upward of 95 percent of Colorado's energy-rich land area.
These drastic attempts to sabotage the oil and gas industry didn't just miss by inches. They missed by a mile high and wide.
Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams announced that supporters of the two measures surpassed the required signature threshold but not by enough to compensate for the number of signatures that were rejected during a random sampling. One of the initiatives garnered 77,000 signatures out of about 98,000 needed to qualify for the ballot; the other, 79,000. Every other state initiative campaign on issues ranging from primary election reform to cigarette taxes to assisted suicide this year hit the mark.
Worse for eco-activists, the secretary of state reported that the petition for the de facto fracking moratorium included "several potentially forged signature lines" and has been referred to the state attorney general for investigation. At least one hired signature gatherer told KUSA-TV that homeless men in Denver filled out forms with "bulls---."
Election fraud? What election fraud? Yep, that election fraud.
Despite massive funding from such dark money donors as billionaire hedge fund manager turned climate change warrior Tom Steyer, the big green propaganda machine keeps coming up short. The enviros failed to gather enough signatures for a similar measure two years ago. Skittish Democrats, including Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, have distanced themselves from the eco-radicals, as the energy sector generates thousands of jobs and billions of dollars to the state economy.
One thing the anti-frackers have been successful at: manufacturing self-serving excuses for their failures. They complained that their allies didn't spend enough on them. They carped that their opponents spent too much on opposing them. They whined that the secretary of state's office was "biased" against them for throwing out invalid signatures.
And they pouted when their phony attempt to con reporters into believing that their measures would get on the ballot blew up in their faces three weeks ago. A day after volunteers paraded into the secretary of state's office with dozens of boxes of signatures, an official noted that a large number of the boxes were half-full -- or half-empty.
Hypocritical save-the-planet soldiers who bemoan our dependence on foreign oil are hellbent on strangling the fracking revolution, which has doubled domestic U.S. oil output and helped drive gas prices down.
Here's what the job-killing fractivists just won't admit: Coloradans like their thriving energy sector, and they want to keep it.
Is liar-Hillary Clinton paying attention? She has vowed to her lefty voter base that despite reaping big bucks from fossil fuel campaign finance bundlers, she will ensure that there are not "many places in America where fracking will continue to take place." It's as clear a threat as President Barack nObama's campaign vow to make electricity rates "skyrocket."
Let's hope that as the anti-fracking crackup goes in the Rockies, so goes the nation.
