Resurrecting nObamaCare's 'Public Option'
Allyne Caan: Remember the early days of the nObamaCare debate, when many of us warned the Democrats' health care overhaul was the first step toward a single-payer system? Just as we predicted, leftists, including presumptive Democrat presidential nominee liar-Hillary Clinton, once again have taken up the banner of the so-called "public option," which is little more than a Trojan horse for single-payer health care. As predictable as each sunrise, Democrats always aim to expand government.
The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) recently published an article bylined Barack nObama, in which he revives the call for a public option: "[B]ased on experience with the ACA, I think Congress should revisit a public plan to compete alongside private insurers in areas of the country where competition is limited. Adding a public plan in such areas would strengthen the Marketplace approach, giving consumers more affordable options while also creating savings for the federal government."
Clearly, JAMA's peer-review standards have plummeted, as this statement was obviously written by either a professional prevaricator or a stand-up comedian.
For starters, nObama all but admits his signature health care law is a flop, as "based on experience" he now claims we need a public option. As Reason's Peter Suderman notes, "[T]he article ... serves as a tacit admission that the law is not working as intended. ... Naturally, it proposes further government intervention in the health care sector."
Point taken, though we'd argue the law is working exactly as intended. Democrats just lied about their intentions.
Another howler is nObama's punchline about how the public option would "compete alongside" private insurance, as if the government is just another capitalist enterprise in a free market. "Consumers do better when there is choice and competition," nObama sagaciously explained. "That's how the market works." As if he's the greatest free-market economist since Milton Freidman.
One of nObamaCare's many lies was that it would improve competition in the individual insurance market. To sell this point, nObama pointed to the 34 states in which "75% of the insurance market is controlled by five or fewer companies."
Insurance exchanges were supposed to be the grand savior of competition. They proved quite the opposite, as insurers have continued to pull out of exchanges. Suderman explains, "What this means is that in many rural areas, nObamacare's exchanges will be served by one and only one insurer." Wasn't this one of the problems nObama promised to solve?
But never fear, statists have a plan to fix their failed government program. Another government program! If only we had a public option, nObama opines, it could "compete alongside private insurers" in places where competition is limited.
Of course, the government already tried a quasi-public option that, predictably, flopped. When the full-scale public option was rejected during the original nObamaCare debates, lawmakers set up pilot-program public options, or "co-ops." These co-ops received billions of federal tax dollars and were supposed to operate just like regular insurance companies, compete alongside private insurers, and become self-sufficient. Yet of the 23 co-ops created, 16 have closed. As Americans for Tax Reform explains, "Co-ops across the country have struggled to operate in nObamacare exchanges, losing millions despite receiving enormous government subsidies."
This makes even more ludicrous nObama's claim that a public option would "create savings for the federal government." Again, as Suderman notes, given the co-ops failures, "[t]here is little reason to believe that a full-fledged public option, entirely run by the government, would fare any better." Instead, he correctly argues, it would be "much harder to shut down, and much more likely to be propped up by additional federal funding if it failed to completely cover its expenses on its own."
And as for competition, even pretending that's a goal is absurd. As The Wall Street Journal observes, "Mr. nObama is re-endorsing what he had hoped in 2010 would be a way station for government-run single payer that would gradually wipe out anything resembling private insurance. Insurers can't outbid a 'free' program that is open to all or most and has the unlimited access to the Treasury that Medicare enjoys. A market exodus would be inevitable."
A single-payer system was the goal all along. nObamaCare was never about health care; it was always about control. And nObama's obsession with fundamentally transforming America won't be satisfied as long as any semblance of Liberty or constitutionally limited government remains. -The Patriot Post

OPINION IN BRIEF
Victor Davis Hanson: "As in the case of Islamic terrorism, America seems to have no answers to racial tensions. Half the country believes African-Americans are inordinately targeted by police and that inner-city violence can be attributed to a long history of racism, national neglect and economic stagnation. The other half blame disastrous social-welfare and big-government policies for creating dangerous dependencies and a dearth of jobs in America's inner cities, as well as a popular culture that glorifies rather than discourages the excesses of many young black males. One America believes that the nObama administration genuinely tried, but so far has failed, to resolve the tensions. between inner-city residents and police. The other America thinks nObama sought to leverage those tensions for political reasons. Either way, most of America privately thinks that Islamic terrorist acts and racial tensions are going to get far worse — a perception that is probably shared overseas as well. ... To be blunt, America's vulnerable postwar global order may already seem to those abroad to be bloated carrion ready to be picked apart by opportunistic vultures." -The Patriot Post

{freebeacon.com} ~ Undercover inspectors working for the U.S. Government Accountability Office were able to fool the United States’ top nuclear regulator into granting it licenses to acquire material necessary to build a “dirty bomb,” or crude nuclear device, according to a new oversight report... The GAO concluded in a new oversight report on the Nuclear Regulatory Committee, or NRC, that it had improved security measures, but still has “not taken some measures to better control some dangerous quantities of radioactive material.” As part of a covert GAO test, the accountability agency established several dummy corporations and attempted to procure licenses needed to purchase dangerous radioactive materials, including those needed to build a crude nuclear explosive device...

Turkey's last hope dies
by Ralph Peters
.
{foxnews.com} ~ Friday night’s failed coup was Turkey’s last hope to stop the Islamization of its government and the degradation of its society... Reflexively, Western leaders rushed to condemn a coup attempt they refused to understand. Their reward will be a toxic Islamist regime at the gates of Europe. Our leaders no longer do their basic homework. The media relies on experts-by-Wikipedia. Except for PC platitudes, our schools ignore the world beyond our shores. Deluged with unreliable information, citizens succumb to the new superstitions of the digital age. So a great country is destroyed by Islamist hardliners before our eyes—and our president praises its “democracy.”...

Judicial Watch Proves liar-Clinton Turned
Her Back on the Benghazi Four
by Eric Odom

{grassfire.com} ~ The watchdog organization Judicial Watch has just released a bombshell report proving once and for all that despite her fraudulent claims, former Secretary of State liar-Hillary Clinton knowingly turn her back on U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty on September 11th, 2012... This sickening new report confirms that not only has liar-Clinton repeatedly lied to the American public and Congress on the matter, but she willfully left the four American citizens for dead when U.S. Military forces were prepared to respond to the developing threat in Libya. According to the report, liar-Clinton and her staff were fully aware of the serious threat posed to the CIA Annex (AKA: U.S. Special Mission Compound) in Benghazi and she was provided with the option to send in military forces to defend the annex following the first attack... http://members.grassfire.com/left-for-dead-judicial-watch-proves-clinton-turned-her-back-on-the-benghazi-four-releases-d-o-d-email-stating-u-s-forces-were-prepared-to-respond/

Critical Infrastructure Being
Guarded by Muslim Immigrants

Why are refugee/resettlement Jihadis guarding sensitive infrastructure?
.
{thecommonsenseshow.com} ~ We know that Omar Mateen, the Orlando shooter, was employed by G4S Plc, a British security firm whose clients in more than 100 countries include the U.S. government (e.g. DHS)... It is also known that his firm was part of a larger organization that participated in the catch and release of OTM’s (other than Mexicans) at the southern border. The OTM’s consisted of people from other Central American countries as well as Muslims from the Middle East. Once these OTM’s were caught, they were released into the deep interior of the country without being screened and without supervision. Mateen’s firm is technically operating under the direction of DHS on this matter. The catch and release of Muslims at the southern border violates our nation’s immigration laws. However, as we witnessed last week with the FBI giving liar-Clinton a get out of jail card for self-admitted criminal activity, our federal government is playing by its own rules that they are making up as they go along. The catch and release of these Muslims technically falls under the auspices of the United Nations. Before I get into my personal revelation on this matter which gravely threatens national security, let’s review what is happening to the United States at the behest of the United Nations...

“Careless” is Not the Word For What liar-Clinton Did
.
.
{fixthisnation.com} ~ Knowing he couldn’t describe liar-Hillary Clinton’s actions as “negligent” without running into a discrepancy between the law and his recommendations, FBI Director James Comey chose to characterize her email choices as “extremely careless.”... A concern for voters? Perhaps. But not a concern for the Justice Department. The American people are left to conclude that, as long as an individual does not specifically intend to sell national security secrets to our enemies, they can treat classified information however they want. Leave top secret missives in the break room. Post sensitive intelligence to your blog. As long as you didn’t “intentionally” sabotage national security, you’re fine. Well, that’s not actually the standard, and anyone other than the presumptive Democratic nominee would be held accountable for what liar-Hillary Clinton did. We all know that... http://www.fixthisnation.com/conservative-breaking-news/careless-is-not-the-word-for-what-clinton-did/

Social Security under fire for plan to disarm seniors

{wnd.com} ~ A legal team already fighting the Veterans Administration over bureaucratic procedures that arbitrarily deprive veterans of their Second Amendment rights now is warning the Social Security Administration, which is proposing the same process, that it still isn’t constitutional... “As is the case with the VA’s so-called ‘adjudication process’ the proposed SSA regulations contain confusing and ambiguous definitions of who constitutes a ‘representative payee,’ the criteria for appointing such a payee, and why the appointment of such a payee automatically classifies a Social Security Disability Insurance beneficiary as mentally defective for the purpose of NICS,” said a comment letter submitted to the SSA. No More

.

{city-journal.org} ~ No more flags of foreign countries posted on Facebook in a spirit of solidarity. No more empathic Twitter hashtags. No more empty statements by heads of government declaring that “the terrorists have failed in their effort to turn us against one another.” No more equally empty statements by other heads of government expressing their own country’s support for “our ally in its time of grief.” No more calls for love in the face of hate, or candlelight processions as a response to murder. No more clicking of tongues and shaking of heads over the horrible loss of life—as if people had died in a one-off natural disaster, a hurricane or tornado or tsunami—followed, after a few days, by a return to normal. Until the next time, of course.
No more attempts to psychologically analyze every new jihadist—to probe his troubled family or professional life in an attempt to figure out what “turned him to violence and extremism.” No more reflexive reassurances that “this has nothing to do with Islam,” that a handful of bad guys have “hijacked” a “peaceful” faith, and that “the great majority of the world’s 1.5 billion Muslims are, of course, peace-loving people who utterly reject this kind of action.” No more slick pivoting to the subject of gun control, or American homophobia, or whatever other diversion seems useful under the specific circumstances. No more blaming of Europeans’ supposed failure to accept or embrace or integrate or employ Muslims, or of Muslims’ alleged poverty or hopelessness or frustration or alienation.
No more hand-wringing by journalists, as they stand mere yards from the bodies of the dead, about the possible “backlash” against Muslims which never really materializes. No more declarations by U.S. officials that the mere mention of Islam in connection with Islamic terrorism is “dangerous” and “counterproductive” because it “alienates” the Muslim allies and Muslim communities whose help we need in fighting this problem that we dare not properly name. No more respectful TV interviews with representatives of “Muslim civil-rights organizations” that have been proven over and over again to be fronts for terrorism.
No more outrageous lies by government and media that, almost fifteen years after 9/11, keep so many Americans so outrageously in the dark about the world in which we live now. No more of the despicable day-to-day efforts by the same actors to keep those Americans who do get it in line, to instill in them an unholy fear that, if they dare to address the problem honestly, they’ll be thrust forever out into the dark—beyond the realm of decent society, unacceptable, unemployable, unfriendable. No more societal tyranny by those who because they’re cowardly, or feel powerless, or have no sense of responsibility to preserve the precious gift of freedom that their own forebears fought and died for and have bequeathed them, or are, inconceivably, unconcerned about the world their own children and grandchildren will inhabit treat as enemies not those who seek to destroy them but those who dare to speak the truth about it.
No more ignorance. A couple of weeks ago, Adam Carolla recorded his podcast—one of the most popular on the Internet—before an Amsterdam audience. Carolla, an Angeleno, asked locals about life in the Netherlands. They painted a thoroughly rosy picture. He asked about religion. They depicted a near-utopian secular country free of reactionary faith. Poof! Down the memory hole went Pim Fortuyn, Theo Van Gogh, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Geert Wilders. And Carolla didn’t challenge any of it. Then, just the other day, in an interview on Joe Rogan’s podcast which is even bigger than Carolla’s, gay conservative Milo Yiannopoulos served up some basic facts that everybody in the U.S. would know by now if the mainstream media were doing its job—facts about the levels of Muslim rape in Sweden, about the scale of antigay animus in Muslim communities, and about the systematic efforts by European governments to obscure these and other ticklish matters. Rogan, who is no fool, and who has interviewed hundreds of people in an effort to educate himself about the world, was shocked by all of it. (“Wow! Wow! Wow!”)
In the years after 9/11, major acts of Islamic terrorism in the West seemed to come along every year or so, leaving plenty of time in between to go back to pretending that everything was fine and to resume mouthing benign platitudes. Now they’re happening so often, one right on top of the other, that we can hardly keep track of them. The only upside is that it’s getting harder and harder to maintain that pretense.
The time for shock is over. The time for heaping up flowers and candles and stuffed animals at the sites of atrocities is over. The lies and ignorance and cravenness must end, and the simple facts must be faced. The free, civilized West has, for years now, been the target of a war of conquest—a war waged in many forms of which terrorism is only one by Islamist adherents preaching submission, intolerance, and brutality, and our leaders and media, with few exceptions, continue to play a game whose fatuity, fecklessness, and pusillanimity have become increasingly clear. After Nice, no more.
