The Effect of China's Hack Could Be Staggering
When the Office of Personnel Management announced that the data of four million past and present federal employees were taken by China, it could have been running damage control. The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest union for federal employees, accused OPM of being not forthright about the hack. The union believes China targeted the Central Personnel File and is now in possession of the information of every federal employee, including those who retired and left the government's employ. But it could be much, much worse. An unnamed government official told ABC News China could have targeted the database that stored government employees' SF-86 forms — the 127-page form public workers fill out when they apply for a security clearance. For a malicious government seeking to recruit spies, it's the Holy Grail, as the form asks the applicant to list the applicant's network — the people slept with, the foreign nationals in contact with, family members. We don't yet know what information is in China's hands. But one thing is clear: Big government stands directly opposed to privacy, and by extension, Liberty. This is why the big data that comes with nObamaCare is so insidious. When it comes to cybersecurity, Liberty is America's greatest strength.  -The Patriot Post

It's Up to Congress to Keep the Internet Tax Free
The Internet Tax Freedom Act passed the House by voice vote this week, and now heads to the Senate. The best news is that it's a permanent extension. In place since 1998, dinky Harry Reid's Senate only permitted a one-year extension last year because he wanted a hostage for other negotiations. But the law becomes increasingly important in the age of so-called net neutrality (which takes effect today), because it prevents taxation on Internet and email services in America's 9,600 tax jurisdictions. House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte warned that the FCC's decision to regulate the Internet like telecommunications "emboldens states to apply these telecom taxes to Internet access immediately, should ITFA lapse." Goodlatte also laid bare the problem with Internet taxes, saying that granting states such powers would allow "lawmakers to dodge accountability for the burdens associated with their policy choices by shifting them onto non-residents who cannot hold them accountable at the ballot box." Furthermore, he said, "[I]f Congress lets 'economic presence' rather than 'physical presence' become the standard, states will mostly exempt resident companies from tax obligations while imposing them on out-of-state companies." In other words, taxation without representation. For those with any sense of American history, that phrase should ring loud and clear.  -The Patriot Post

 Lessons on Picking Your Identity
The City of Spokane is investigating a critical matter, and the outcome should be black and white. The president of the city's NAACP chapter likely violated the city's code of ethics because she's actually white. Rachel Dolezal identifies as African-American and has even modified her appearance accordingly. She's also claimed to be the victim of several "hate" crimes. But public records indicate she and both of her parents are white. The obvious comparison is Bruce Jenner, the former male Olympic decathlon champion who now says he's a woman. Many leftists gladly accepted him as a her, even giving him awards for "courage." But while Jenner is affirmed, Dolezal has committed an unforgivable sin by doing pretty much the same thing. Perhaps a less obvious comparison is the example of a prominent man who has a white mother and black father (who abandoned him early on), and yet who identifies solely by the race of his father — well, unless his Irish ancestry happens to be politically beneficial. Any guesses who that might be? Identity sure is an interesting thing with liberal social mores.   -The Patriot Post

What Exactly Are We Trading in the TPA/TPP?
It’s a deal that's been in the works since before Barack nObama took office, but as the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a free trade pact, is being hammered into shape, some members of Congress — especially Democrats — are reluctant to give nObama the same "fast-track" authority other presidents have had over the last few decades. Specifically, that would happen through the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), the full text of which is here. Some conservatives also have a problem with awarding any authority to this particular chief executive, given his track record of abusing his power on immigration and regulation.
There’s an argument to be had, however, from conservatives who remind us that free trade is the bailiwick of the Republican Party. George Will leads the charge:

“It is ... unnecessary to defeat fast-track authority (thereby defeating freer trade) in order to restrain this rogue president. The 22nd Amendment guarantees his departure in 19 months. His lawlessness has prompted congressional resistance on multiplying fronts. The judiciary, too, has repeatedly rebuked him for illegal executive overreaches. So, it is neither necessary nor statesmanlike to injure the nation’s future in order to protest nObama’s past.”

There’s also the libertarian free-trade perspective of the Cato Institute:

"Historically, trade agreements have expanded Americans’ economic liberties, even though that outcome has never been the principal objective. It happens residually. Trade negotiators prioritize the export-oriented goals of their business interests and, in the process of reaching those objectives, make Americans more economically free."

In both instances, we're reminded that the process doesn’t end with congressional passage of the TPA, which, in short, grants nObama negotiating power and provides for Congress to then hold an up-or-down vote on whatever agreement nObama makes — without being able to amend it. While nothing is certain in Congress, the House is slated to vote on the TPA legislation today, following the Senate’s passage of the measure last month. (It didn't pass) -The Patriot Post

Court affidavit confirm Muslim beheading plot against Pamela Geller
(themuslimissue.wordpress.com) ~ Everywhere we look in the world today with countries merged into poverty, war and strife we see the footmarks of Islam in that conflict. In spite of this thousands of Muslims are being imported into America, into Europe, into Canada, Australia, UK every single year without any discrimination... Those politicians who make this possible need to be charged with treason and face execution for the most dangerous social engineering in modern history. A few days back we reported on Bosnia, and how the country has turned into the criminal and violent cesspool it is today, all due to Islam. And why? Because the non-Muslim Bosnia was too lenient and complacent in removing Muslims right from the start when they began increasing in numbers and trying to force their way into the country. Eventually this acceptance of Muslims and Islam into the country would develop into a disaster, like it always does, with Muslim violence building up and escalating into a civil war that never ends unless they get power. Once Muslims get a footing in the country the worldwide recruiting begins. First as a small trickle effect but as their numbers increase, they have children, more arrive by immigration, the problems also increase. This is why we repeatedly say that the only solution is to deport Muslims, ban them any residency or entry to the West, demolish mosques and ban Islam, ban all visas to Muslims, end all trade with Islamic countries. And definitely end the oil trade which is a constant funding source for terrorism and the spread of Salafism worldwide.        https://themuslimissue.wordpress.com/2015/06/14/court-affidavit-confirm-muslim-beheading-plot-against-pamela-geller-in-texas/

Undercover video shows Dems dissing Justice Kennedy   (wnd.com) ~ A blogger has taken a video camera undercover and has discovered that not even a sometimes progressive, often liberal member of the U.S. Supreme Court bench is far enough left to satisfy some Democrats and their demands for same-sex “marriage.”... This is known because on the video they say they want Justice Anthony Kennedy gone. Ryan Sorba describes himself as an author, columnist and conservative activist who now is serving as chairman of the Young Conservatives of California. The video location or time wasn’t identified, but it appears to be a reception. On the video is Rep. Barney Frank, an openly homosexual former member of Congress, saying, “Kennedy has actually written three very good LGBT decisions … but I’d still like to replace him.   Oh, the things Democrats say when they don't know they're on video.  http://www.wnd.com/2015/06/undercover-video-shows-dems-dissing-justice-kennedy/

Bishop tells West: Defeat ISIS or give Christians asylum
(Leo Hohmann) ~ A leading Iraqi prelate has called on the U.S. and its allies to double down on their efforts to defeat ISIS militarily, and, if that is not possible, to rescue Iraq’s 120,000 exiled Christians and grant them asylum in the West... Marking the first anniversary of the Islamic State’s capture of Mosul, Syrian Catholic Archbishop Yohanna Mouche called on “people who have the responsibility” to come to the rescue of the ousted Christian communities, whose people long to go home, the archbishop said in a phone interview with John Pontifex of Aid to the Church in Need, an international Catholic charity. Since the fall of Mosul into ISIS’s hands last summer, the city has been emptied of the thousands of Christians who once resided there.      http://www.wnd.com/2015/06/bishop-pleads-for-west-to-accept-mass-asylum-of-iraqi-christians/

ISIS, Saudi Arabia, Iran and the West
(Salim Mansur) ~ In a hard-hitting essay on ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) for The Daily Mail, the 2001 Nobel Prize winning author, V.S. Naipaul, wrote: "ISIS could very credibly abandon the label of Caliphate and call itself the Fourth Reich."... Among the writings on Islam and Muslims in recent years, Naipaul's, as in the books Among the Believers and Beyond Belief, have been perhaps the most incisive and penetrating in exploring the extremist politics of the global Islamist movement from inside of the Muslim world. And that ISIS on a rampage, as Naipaul observed, revived "religious dogmas and deadly rivalries between Sunnis and Shi'as, Sunnis and Jews and Christians is a giant step into darkness." Ever since the relatively obscure Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi stepped forth on the pulpit of the Great Mosque in Mosul, Iraq, on June 28, 2014 to announce the rebirth of the Caliphate (abolished in 1924 by the Turkish leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk), with al-Baghdadi himself assuming the title of Caliph Ibrahim, the ruling head of the ummah, or worldwide community of Muslims, many might agree with Naipaul, despite the hyperbole -- he has left out a potentially nuclear Iran -- that "ISIS has to be seen as the most potent threat to the world since the Third Reich."       http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5956/isis-saudi-arabia-iran

Greece: Watching the Wheels Come Off
(Maria Plizoidou) ~ When you visit Greece, the customs officers will put in your passport the stamp of the Greek Republic. You will see the Greek flag waving at Athens International Airport; taxis waiting for customers, gas stations still in operation and public infrastructure being kept at a mediocre level... This, however, is just an illusion. Greece is a collapsing country. Greece is experiencing the perfect financial, political and social storm: all at the same time, state structures have to deal corruption and serious internal and foreign security problems. It is the ultimate nightmare for every state. Greek banks function not because they can, but because they have to. The Greek state has stopped honoring its financial obligations toward private individuals and enterprises. The state's revenue is enough only for civil servant salaries and pensions. Greece's political system produces more laughter, more enemies and more entropy than it can deal with. The gap between government and governed cannot be bridged by any coalition of political parties. Greek lawmakers look like a cartel of self-centered, corrupt puppets, who manage to survive in their jobs only because they have appointed thousands of their parties' supporters to jobs in the public sector, working as tax collectors, bureaucrats, port and airport workers, gardeners, school guards, and so on. Is the USA becoming a Greece?       http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5923/greece-collapse

 Allen West “Something is Wrong”
(allenwestrepublic.com) ~ Allen West pointed out that ISIS is currently operating in the open with little resistance. “When you look at these pictures of ISIS, and the fact they are having daytime parades through Ramadi, or they’re transiting through these cities in broad daylight, not a cloud in the sky, something is wrong,”... President nObama’s decision to ignore his generals’ recommendations and withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq, leaving behind a power vacuum that is being exploited by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), is “probably the greatest military blunder the world will ever know,” Lt. Col. Allen West (Army-Retired) told CNSNews.com. “And I think one of the most important things is the president needs to stand up and be forthright and say he got it wrong. That’s the start to having an effective strategy, is admit that he had it wrong in the first place… Getting it wrong is a president that probably made the greatest military blunder that the world will ever know,” the former congressman said.       http://allenwestrepublic.com/2015/06/13/allen-west-something-is-wrong/

Veterans ripped off by fake research project
(Michael Volpe) ~ A Veterans Administration researcher used actors and pressured veterans into participating in a “secret shopper”-style project, and now the House Veteran Affairs Committee is investigating how the agency spent $900,000 for the faked study... The head of the study, Dr. Saul Weiner, professor of medicine, pediatrics and medical education at the University of Illinois at Chicago, admitted actors were hired to portray veterans, according to a letter from the committee chairman, Rep. Mike Coffman, R-Colo. “The actors wore hidden microphones to capture the physician-patient interaction; feigned symptoms that took real appointment slots from veterans and tied up facility resources, such as lab tests, while health-care professionals sought answers to the actor’s fake maladies,” Coffman said.    http://www.wnd.com/2015/06/veterans-ripped-off-by-fake-research-project/

Congressman Mike Rogers Introduces Bill to Get U.S. Out of UN
(Alex Newman) ~ Citing wasted tax dollars and attacks on the constitutionally guaranteed liberties of the American people, Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Ala.; shown) introduced a bill to restore U.S. sovereignty and withdraw from the United Nations... The effort to de-fund and exit the UN comes amid growing scrutiny of the global organization, often ridiculed as the “dictators club,” and myriad mega-scandals swirling around it. However, despite ever-growing support in Congress for restoring U.S. sovereignty by withdrawing from the UN over the years, the legislation still faces an uphill battle. In a statement last week announcing the American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2015 (H.R. 1205), Rep. Rogers noted that many of his constituents in East Alabama would likely agree with his position that U.S. government participation in the UN should end immediately. “The U.N. continues to prove it’s an inefficient bureaucracy and a complete waste of American tax dollars,” the congressman said, echoing widespread concerns about the international outfit expressed across America and worldwide.       http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/congress/item/21058-congressman-mike-rogers-introduces-bill-to-get-u-s-out-of-un

Russia China Pact with Snowden in the Middle
(Denise Simon) ~ Going beyond the major hack by China into the Office of Personnel Management that cultivated at least 14 million personnel files of government, intelligence and military, China is building a database of individuals in America... Would they share it with Russia? The wake of destruction is yet to be known and future predictions are impossible to imagine. Russia is turning to China and likewise China is delighted for the relationship as proven by the Silk Road Economic objectives. Putin’s vision of a ‘greater Europe’ from Lisbon to Vladivostok, made up of the European Union and the Russian-led Eurasian Economic Union, is being replaced by a ‘greater Asia’ from Shanghai to St. Petersburg.       http://www.trevorloudon.com/2015/06/russia-china-pact-with-snowden-in-the-middle/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+NewZeal+%28New+Zeal+Blog%29

 Springtime for Hitler… In Mexico

The Federal Government is the Problem
.
Burt_Header_M2.jpg
.
(burtprelutsky.com) ~ Ronald Reagan was right when he stated that the federal government is not the solution and again when he said that the nine scariest words in the English language are “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”
.
Having said all that, I do not share the fears of a great many on the Right who apparently lie awake nights worrying about the NSA listening in on their phone calls. From my earlier defense of the National Security Agency, I know that a number of my readers disagree. So be it. When push comes to shove, I prefer siding with Charles Krauthammer andJohn Bolton to sharing Rand Paul’s paranoia.
.
For one thing, even if nObama and his stooges wanted to listen in on a few billion phone calls a day, I don’t believe they are up to the task. But it does make me somewhat envious of all you folks who are having all those fascinating phone calls that you imagine others are dying to tune in on. For my part, anyone tapping my line will, ninety-nine times out of 100, hear me hanging up on a telemarketer who has just addressed me as Mr. Potsky.
.
Those who are vehemently opposed to the government’s collecting phone numbers and the length of calls will often point out that so far as we know, not a single terrorist attack on America has been foiled by the NSA. But it should be obvious that if any had been, the feds wouldn’t go around bragging about it, lest the bad guys tracked down and eliminated the weak link in their communication system.
.
More to the point, although a great many Americans have been harassed by the IRS, the EPA and the Justice Department, under nObama, no citizen has come forward to state that his privacy has been intruded upon by the NSA. And we all know that if anyone’s Fourth Amendment rights had been violated, the NY Times would have splashed the news across its front page and Rand Paul would have highlighted it during one of his weekly filibusters.
.
♦ None of this should be taken as an endorsement of nObama and his approach to national security. So far, after six years in office, he has shown that the only use he has for the military is as a prop when he occasionally addresses the cadets at West Point or when he wants to do battle with Ebola or global warming.
.
Many pundits have pointed out that nObama has no strategy when it comes to fighting those who are massacring Christians, women and children, in the Middle East and North Africa and who have sworn to kill Americans. That’s not true. He has a strategy. It’s called non-engagement.
.
Like most liberals, he is opposed to warfare and despises those who wear the uniform. Like hanoi John Kerry, who dismissed those in the military as people too dumb to go to college, nObama hates people who wear guns to work, unless, of course, they’re protecting his sorry ass. It helps to explain his contempt for cops and for those of us who support them.
.
Some people believe his mantra of “No boots on the ground” is because he’s a Muslim or at least sympathetic to them. But he is equally unwilling to confront Putin’s aggression. Does anyone think it’s because he’s Russian Orthodox and was born in Minsk?
.
If anyone is going to oppose the barbarians, nObama wants the Saudis, the Qataris and the Jordanians, to do it. But as we’ve seen in Iraq, that doesn’t work out too well. At the first sign of ISIS, the Iraqi forces we’ve been training for a dozen years, turned tail and ran. If we have reason to fear ISIS or Iran, for that matter, we should stop relying on cut-throats and back-stabbers to do our killing for us, and we should forget about nation-building. We used to think that nobody could be worse than the likes of Gadhafi, Mubarak, Hussein and the Shah of Iran. But those creeps knew how to keep the Islamic radicals in line, and we now realize that those were the good old days.
.
The problems with our jobbing out the fighting to Arabs and Muslims is, one, we can’t tell our friends from our enemies and, two, they not only run, but they leave our weapons behind to be used by our foes. It’s like a weird kind of Middle East quiz show, where the parting gifts consist of American trucks, tanks and artillery.
.
I hate nObama, but let’s face it, the schmuck didn’t vote for himself 70 million times. For the past 240 years, our military has protected us from our mortal enemies. But in the end, it couldn’t protect us from ourselves.
.
♦ Most of us look at Detroit and we see the inevitable result of decades of liberal leadership. It is what always happens when millions of people sign up to be dependents of the city, state and federal, governments, eager to surrender their backbones and their votes in exchange for a welfare check. Most of us look at Detroit and feel compassion or disgust or a combination of the two. Baltimore, however, looks at Detroit and the message seems to be “If they can do it, we can do it.”
.
♦ One is accustomed to hearing that practice makes perfect, but Congress continues to disprove that notion. All they do all day is vote, but they are obviously as bad at it as those of us who only vote every few years. But the louts we vote for are essentially only running against one other person, limiting our choices to either a Republican or a Democrat.
.
But what possible excuse do these people have for electing and re-electing the likes of dinky Harry Reid, Nancy Pulosi, Mitch McCon-nell and backstabber John Boehner? On the face of it, the four of them have nothing to recommend them for leadership positions. They are all physically unattractive and, even when reading scripts, are deadly dull and unpersuasive. And yet their colleagues keep selecting them to be the face and voice of their respective parties.
.
♦ In other news, while addressing the Adas Israel Congregation in Washington, D.C.. recently, nObama said, “Earlier this week, I was actually interviewed by one of your members, Jeff Goldberg, and he reminded me that he once called me ‘the first Jewish President.’ Now, since some people still seem to be wondering about my faith, I should make clear this was an honorary title. But I was flattered.”
.
Inasmuch as even in 2012, roughly 70% of the Jewish vote went to nObama in spite of his pandering to Iran, his refusal to take up arms against the Muslims or even to identify Islam as the existential enemy of Israel and the U.S. -- and that the Jews at the Synagogue gave him a number of standing ovations -- there’s no question he deserves the title. But, speaking as a Jew, it’s hardly flattering.
.
♦ The art world, being what it is, it’s not the least bit surprising that the latest sensation is an artist-vandal named Katsu who, working in the medium of feces, has been painting the likes of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Google CEO Eric Schmidt.
.
It seems to me that in a rational world, he would be commissioned to start painting presidential portraits.
