Walking with integrity is the essence of being a 1 man ( or woman ) street patrol.
Integrity prompts us to walk ( jog or ride ) not merely to sight see or for health reasons but more importantly to own our share of unmet safety and service needs in our areas.
Shrinking budgets and growing threats demand concerned men and women take to the streets.
Waves of unemployed felons are returning home after sentencing during the " Tough On Crime " 80s & 90s often unchanged by the experience.
An enemic economy and impoverished values daily deliver a combination punch leaving numerous American cities and towns reeling from rising homelessness and homicide. Making my rounds yesterday brought this last point tragically home as I saw homeless people I knew ( and didn't know ) on New Orleans Canal Street Central Business District area looking noticeably thinner and hungry. I did what I could and continued, including talking down a man I'd met at Occupy Nola who was talking about attacking somebody because of how angry he felt about life.
In the lengthening shadow of such despair, people walking with integrity are needed more than ever!
If you aren't already a 1 man ( or woman ) street patrol, please consider becoming one.
If our streets are unsafe and over flow with the needy, what better reason is there to walk with integrity?
