Behind the Immigration Ban Hysteria
By Thomas Gallatin: From references made by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pulosi (D-CA) to the Statue of Liberty crying to CNN running the headline, "Trump bans 134,000,000 from the U.S.," the Left and the mainstream media are jumping up and down in hysteria over Donald Trump's Friday executive orders on vetting refugees. Adding fuel to the controversy were stories of green card holders being prevented entry, forcing the administration to offer a clarification, with Department of Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly stating, "In applying the provisions of the President's executive order, I hereby deem the entry of lawful permanent residents to be in the national interest. Accordingly, absent the receipt of significant derogatory information indicating a serious threat to public safety and welfare, lawful permanent resident status will be a dispositive factor in our case-by-case determinations." Even The Wall Street Journal headlined a story that read, "Donald Trump's Immigration Ban Sows Chaos."
So what's the deal here? Are Trump's actions as "extreme" as the mainstream media insists? Has the White House been taken over by a nativist? Is Trump Hitler 2.0? The facts reveal quite a different story from the hysteria currently being peddled by the Leftmedia.
First, motive. Trump maintained during his entire campaign that the safety of Americans would be a top priority. His actions on Friday are yet another example of him following through on his promises. Trump has correctly assessed that Washington's politically correct attitude toward immigration has created a climate ripe for a Trojan horse-like infiltration taking advantage of the nation's lax controls. His order is not an attack on a religion, ethnic group or region of the world.
Trump's concerns or actions are not new or unprecedented, as both Jimmy Carter and Bill liar-Clinton enacted similar temporary bans, and justified those bans out of concern for the safety of Americans.
Second, the "extreme" adjective that has been bandied about by media pundits from all sides is quite simply absurd. A quick look at history and numbers confirms this. Trump's capping of refugees at 50,000 per year is nothing new. Both George W. Bush and Barack liar-nObama averaged the same number until 2016, when liar-nObama expanded the number significantly. In reality, Trump is simply bringing the numbers back down to previously established levels. If anyone is to be faulted for extreme actions on refugees, it's liar-nObama.
Third, the order will seek to revamp the refugee processing in order to prioritize those of minority religious groups fleeing the persecution of radical Islamists. This will specifically help Christians but also other minorities who have suffered from rising persecution over the last few years. This is a significant change from liar-nObama's policy that did not favor minority religions in the refugee processing.
Fourth, the ban is temporary — 120 days — as DHS determines the "information needed from any country to adjudicate any visa, admission, or other benefit under the INA (adjudications) in order to determine that the individual seeking the benefit is who the individual claims to be and is not a security or public-safety threat." And the ban has an exemption clause: "Secretaries of State and Homeland Security may, on a case-by-case basis, and when in the national interest, issue visas or other immigration benefits to nationals of countries for which visas and benefits are otherwise blocked."
In reality, the Leftmedia's exasperation over Trump's actions is a strategy aimed at delegitimizing Trump in a effort to subvert his unapologetic "America First" policy. The Left is committed to its globalist vision and will do everything it can to derail Trump.
In hindsight, Trump may have acted too quick, especially if he failed to fully vet the plan internally. This has allowed the Leftmedia to unleash a barrage of misinformation that is proving to sow confusion and creating the false perception of the order being extreme.
Mark Alexander's perspective: "This and other Trump initiatives will come down to who wins the battle for perception, not the facts, and indeed, if the Leftmedia prevails in portraying the Trump administration as a 'clown show,' then the Trump experiment is not going to end well. Cabinet members of the caliber of Gen. Kelley at DHS and Gen. Mattis at DOD will not hang around indefinitely if they are repeatedly being bypassed on major issues like this. If Trump continues to formulate tweets and executive orders in a vacuum, as if he can control the media script as tightly as he did the script for his successful reality show, then he could do more damage to Republicans in four years than liar-nObama did to Democrats in eight. Trump and company should not be burning capital on EOs that they're going to need for much more critical issues — like the Supreme Court."

CAIR Frivolous Lawsuit Over Terrorist
Ban Likely To Be Tossed Out

As Gregg Jarrett explains, that seems to be little more than a frivolous harassment suit, one that will have no relevant impact for a variety of reasons. Jarrett first points out that virtually all of the plaintiffs in the CAIR lawsuit are already ungrateful residents of the United States, the nation they are now attempting to force into actions to benefit them. He says, “I don’t think they have standing to sue and on that basis they could be kicked out. Remember, only if you have been actually harmed do you have standing to file a lawsuit.” He says, “Here they’re just sort of speculating that, ‘Gee, we might in the future have difficulty renewing our immigration status.’ Again, that’s purely conjecture, no actual harm, so a judge who, by the way, is a political appointee by former President George W. Gun Violence Suspects Are Bonding Out Faster

Wrote the Tribune on Friday: But over the same time period, the average number of days a defendant spends in jail before posting bond for a gun charge has fallen by more than half, from 42 to 18 days, according to the Tribune analysis. This is counterintuitive. Higher bonds should keep suspected criminals in jail longer, keeping them off the streets longer, which should reduce crime. But as nearly every observer knows, last year violent crime in Chicago set ghastly records in the number of people being shot and killed...

Army Officer Who was Court Martialed...

Terrence Lakin was a highly-decorated Army flight surgeon who questioned whether or not the orders he received from Obama were legitimate. Court-martialed, imprisoned, expelled from the Army and denied pay, pension and benefits, Terry was merely following his officer’s oath and constitutional duty. It is an outrage that this was allowed to happen. liar-nObama refused to answer Terry’s letter and ended up producing a forged birth certificate. Terry who was a medical doctor is a valuable asset to the American military and the fact that his military chain of command and his congressional representatives allowed him to be court-martialed and run out of the army is an outrage for all Americans. Israel's Netanyahu applauds Trump's
plan for wall; Mexico not pleased

{jewishworldreview.com} ~ On Saturday evening, Israel's prime minister tweeted his praise of President Donald Trump's decision to build a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico.
"President Trump is right," Netanyahu wrote. "I built a wall along Israel's southern border. It stopped all illegal immigration. Great success. Great idea." He accompanied the tweet with emoji flags of Israel and the United States.
A few hours later, Trump retweeted Netanyahu's praise.
Mexico wasn't pleased.
In Israel, the opposition pounced.
Yair Lapid, the leader of the Yesh Atid "There is a Future" party, wondered aloud, "Don't we have enough troubles of our own?"
In his electronic missive, Netanyahu was referring to the three-year-old fence Israel constructed along the entire length of its once-porous land border with Egypt in the Sinai Peninsula. Before the fence was erected, tens of thousands of economic migrants and war refugees from Africa -- mostly from Eritrea and Sudan, dubbed "infiltrators" here -- poured into the Jewish state. (Israeli is currently trying to kick them out).
The sensor-packed steel barrier, completed in 2013, stopped illegal entry cold. It was a success. More than 10,000 Africans arrived in 2012 at the peak of the wave; today almost no one attempts the trip.
The fence also shut down human traffickers in Egypt's Sinai who had become increasingly sadistic, with desperate wayfarers describing how they were imprisoned in "torture camps" where the Bedouin smugglers raped women and burned captives with molten plastic to extort relatives to send more money to free them.
Today some of those same smugglers belong to armed groups who have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State.
In an interview with Fox News on Thursday, Trump called a beefed-up barrier on the United States' southern border "good for the heart of the nation in a certain way, because people want protection, and a wall protects. All you've got to do is ask Israel. They were having a total disaster coming across, and they had a wall. It's 99.9 percent stoppage."
It was not clear which wall Trump was referring to. In addition to border fences facing Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt, Israel also has an internal security fence -- with remote-controlled machine guns -- along the periphery of the Gaza Strip, as well as separation barriers in the West Bank to keep Palestinians, and Palestinian terrorists, out of Israel.
Hours after Netanyahu's tweet, his office issued a clarification: "The prime minister was addressing Israel's unique circumstances and the important experience we have and which we are willing to share with other nations. There was no attempt to voice an opinion regarding U.S.-Mexico ties."
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesmen followed up with more tweets:
"@IsraeliPM referred to our specific security experience which we are willing to share. We do not express a position on US- Mexico relations"
As we said, Mexico wasn't happy with what it saw as Israel's clear endorsement of the wall:
"Mexico expresses its grave concern, rejection and disappointment to Israel over PM @netanyahu's message about construction of a border wall"
Mexico's Foreign Ministry "expressed to the government of Israel, via its ambassador in Mexico, its profound astonishment, rejection and disappointment over Prime Minister Netanyahu's message on Twitter about the construction of a border wall."
"Mexico is a friend of Israel and should be treated as such by its prime minister," Mexico City cautioned, adding that Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray had expressed "his deep affection for Israel in an event marking Holocaust Memorial Day on Friday."
