Not Taking No for an Answer

americanthinker.com } ~ In his Early Life, published in 1930, Winston Churchill declared, “Don’t take “no” for an answer.” This aphorism may have inspired the young ambitious British politician destined to fame... but it is also pertinent for those readers of Special Counsel dirty cop-Robert S. Mueller’s report who are perplexed that the 22-month investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 presidential election. Still in search of the illusory “collusion” between Trump and unnamed Russian officials, some members of the Democratic Party, particularly Rep. scumbag liar-Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Rep. scumbag-Adam Schiff (D-Cal) vow to continue investigations of the President and the 400-page dirty cop-Mueller report hoping to uncover any attempts to obstruct justice. They have got “no” under their skin, deep in the heart, and are not ready to wake up to reality. The no-believers appear to follow the convention of classic Greek tragedy, deus ex machina, according to which some device will solve a seemingly unresolvable problem to bring about the desired conclusion. Though it has not yet been fully revealed, the dirty cop-Mueller Report has not played that role in U.S. politics. Similarly, those in Britain refusing to take “no” over Brexit search for a device, revoking Article 50, “indicative votes,” in Parliament, a second referendum, marches through the streets near the House of Commons, change of prime minister, general election, to end the political deadlock as a minimum.  Refusal of politicians in both the U.S. and UK to accept “no” has to be set in the context of political and intellectual change and issues becoming salient, after years of stasis and adherence to misconceptions or deliberate misrepresentation of reality. Are they misguided or cynically hypocritical? On March 6, 2019 British Prince Harry spoke in London to a crowd of 12,000 young people on the issue of climate change: “I know you don’t sit back and wait for solutions. You take action and create them.” Yet, two days earlier, he travelled the 125 miles from London to Birmingham by private helicopter, a flight that cost £6,000 as compared to first-class train trip that costs £34 and produces 90% less carbon emissions. His wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, flew in February by private jet to New York for a baby shower party, the event estimated to cost $500,000, and one that appears to be incompatible with saving the planet... This shows us how one-side politics are for themselves.

Nielsen: Dems, Media Are ‘Blinded
By Politics’ In Border Security Fight

dailycaller.com } ~ Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen accused members of the press and Congress of being “blinded by politics” regarding the border situation... during a Tuesday interview with Tucker Carlson.  “Why is it that the press, many in Congress, don’t seem to recognize the magnitude of this? Do you think it’s that they don’t know the details or they don’t care? Do you want to speculate as to why no one has responded?” Carlson asked. “Look, at this point, I will be blunt. I think they are blinded by politics,” Nielsen stated. “Unfortunately, they are blinded for what they see as a request from this administration instead of looking at the request and the way in which it is directly affecting Americans. I mean, you mentioned fentanyl. Last year alone, CBP and ICE interdicted more fentanyl to kill every American four times.” Nielsen addressed a letter to Congress last Thursday that called for lawmakers to change how the Department of Homeland  Security (DHS) is legally allowed to process child migrants from countries that do not border the United States. In it, she asked that legislation be passed that allows DHS to treat all arriving migrant children equally, regardless of which country they came from; presently, children from non-contiguous countries cannot quickly be sent back to their home nations because of trafficking laws...

China's Han Superstate: The New Third Reich

gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ More than a million people, for no reason other than their ethnicity or religion, are held in concentration camps in what Beijing calls the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region... and what traditional inhabitants of the area, the Uighurs, say is East Turkestan. In addition to Uighurs, ethnic Kazakhs are also held in these facilities. Families in this troubled area, shown on maps as the northwestern portion of the People's Republic of China, are being torn apart. The children of imprisoned Uighur and Kazakh parents are "confined" to "schools" that are separated from the outside by barbed wire and heavy police patrols. They are denied instruction in their own language, forced to learn Mandarin Chinese. The controls are part of a so-called "Hanification" policy, a program of forced assimilation. "Han" is the name of China's dominant ethnic group. Because Uighurs and Kazakhs are dying in the camps in considerable numbers, Beijing is building crematoria to eradicate burial traditions while disposing of corpses. The camps, a crime against humanity, are spreading. China is now building similar facilities, given various euphemistic names such as "vocational training centers," in Tibet, in China's southwest. At the same time, Beijing is renewing its attempt to eliminate religion country-wide. Christians have come under even greater attack across China, as have Buddhists. China's ruler, Xi Jinping, demands that the five recognized religions — official recognition is a control mechanism — "Sinicize." The Chinese, as a part of this ruthless and relentless effort, are destroying mosques and churches, forcing devout Muslims to drink alcohol and eat pork, inserting Han officials to live in Muslim homes, and ending religious instruction for minors...

commie-Bernie Travels First Class -
Socialism has its perks

{spectator.org} ~ I wonder if at the outset of his career back in woodsy Vermont commie-Bernie Sanders — Crazy commie-Bernie, as we say — ever imagined that years later at the age of 77 he would be running for president... have developed a taste for private jets, be the master of three homes, and run on a platform that included Medicare for All, Free College for All, and a Minimum Wage of $15 an Hour for All, that and the rest of the Green New Deal with no hint of how he would pay for it. No one is making a very big issue of it that Crazy commie-Bernie has already rung up a tab of trillions of dollars that the taxpayers will have to pay somewhere down the road. There was a day when we chuckled about Limousine Liberals. What do you call commie-Bernie? A Sybaritic Socialist? Sure he still dresses like a rag doll, but his transportation is another matter. He does not fly first class. He flies private jet, and lounges about in his three homes, all tended to by his wife who just bankrupted a minor university. I wonder if she is paying off any of that university’s debt that she rang up. commie-Bernie is not being questioned about the enormous amount of debt his campaign promises are bundling on the taxpayer so it is a bit churlish for me to complain, but let me follow the Good Times, that is the Washington Times, and question how he is planning to cover the enormous carbon footprint that his use of private jets accounts for.commie-Bernie, as with all the other Democrats seeking to unseat President Donald Trump, says the planet earth is just about out of time to rid the planet of noxious emissions that are bringing on global warming at a frightening rate. As Senator Elizabeth dinky-Warren told National Public Radio’s agog listeners, “The urgency of the moment on climate change cannot be overstated. It’s upon us and we need to make a change and make change [sic] fast. And that means in part rebuilding our power grids, our infrastructure system. We need to harden against the coming  storms. Underpasses and overpasses and bridges. We need a 21st-century infrastructure that accounts for coming changes in climate, and we need it fast.” Former congressman socialist-Beto O’Rourke — now full-time candidate for the presidency — gives us 12 years...    https://spectator.org/bernie-travels-first-class/?utm_source=American%20Spectator%20Emails&utm_campaign=b6837abc94-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2019_04_03_10_09&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_797a38d487-b6837abc94-104608113

Mainstream Media, 'Russiagate,'
and Texas No-Limit Hold'Em

americanthinker.com } ~ There is a well-known saying in the poker world: “If you’re in a game of poker and you don’t know who the sucker is --You’re the sucker.”... Now imagine “Russiagate” as one big game of Texas Hold’em. The cards are dealt and you see you are holding a hand made up of 500 search warrants, 40 FBI agents, 2,800 subpoenas, 500 witnesses, 19 elite attorneys, and dirty cop-Robert Mueller. It’s a good hand -- it’s the “Nuts” as they say. Then you notice the folks at the table start pushing large amounts of blue chips into the middle of the table. Veterans of high-stakes poker understand that while it’s great to be holding four aces, the real difference maker in the final outcome of the game is when your opponents either like their hand or some confident fool with lots of money believes by betting big they can bully and bluff their way to victory. The poker bullies in “Russiagate,” of course, are the folks in mainstream media. They have lots of money and they are used to winning by intimidation. They are the “big stack” -- they know they can outlast their opponents, they have done it for decades. In a way, they believe they own the casino. Sure, the house will lose a little bit from time to time -- but that serves a purpose. Mainstream media lets the “little people” win small amounts to perpetuate the false narrative that they are, indeed, objective journalists and that America is damn lucky to have people like Brian Stelter serving as dignified cornerstones of the 4th Estate...
commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hit with FEC complaint for alleged 'subsidy scheme'

foxnews.com } ~  Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has been hit with another Federal Election Commission (FEC)  complaint... this one alleging she and her campaign manager operated a “subsidy scheme” that ran afoul of campaign finance laws. The crux of the complaint, which was given exclusively to Fox News in advance of its filing Wednesday, accused commie-Ocasio-Cortez and her campaign manager, Saikat Chakrabarti, of overseeing a "shadowy web" of political action committees (PACs) that allowed them to raise more cash than they could have legally. It also alleged that a limited liability company (LLC) was created to avoid federal expenditure requirements by offering commie-Ocasio-Cortez and other Democratic candidates political consulting services at a price so low that the company apparently shut down before the election was even over. The complaint named commie-Ocasio-Cortez, Chakrabarti now her chief of staff, the Justice Democrats PAC, the Brand New  Congress PAC and Brand New Congress LLC as the overlapping entities that aimed to “subsidize cheap assistance for commie-Ocasio-Cortez and other candidates at rates far below market value.” Neither  commie-Ocasio-Cortez's office nor Chakrabarti could be reached for comment. At the center of the complaint is Brand New Congress LLC, a now-defunct company owned by Chakrabarti that aimed to recruit up to 400 candidates for national office and “fully run all of their campaigns,” according to a post on the Justice Democrats PAC website...   https://www.foxnews.com/politics/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-hit-with-fec-complaint-for-alleged-subsidy-scheme

Red Flags About 'Red Flag' Laws

Nate Jackson:  “Red flag” laws have become all the rage these days among those who want to do something — anything — to stop “gun violence.” Sometimes called Gun Violence Restraining Orders or Extreme Risk  Protection Orders, these laws allow family, close friends, or coworkers to petition authorities to temporarily remove firearms from individuals they believe are a danger to themselves or others. Colorado is set to jointhe list of states enacting such laws.

If — and it’s a big IF — due-process rights are protected, we and other conservatives have acknowledged that, in concept, the idea has some merit because of how many red flags mass murderers tend to display. As our own Robin Smith wrote last year, such orders “empower individuals closest to a potential threat to intervene rather than waiting on layers of systems that … have failed.” National Review’s David French also argued last year, “The GVRO is consistent with and recognizes both the inherent right of self-defense and the inherent right of due process. It is not collective punishment. It is precisely targeted.”

In other words, rather than banning entire classes of guns or infringing on the rights of all citizens, focusing attention at potentially dangerous individuals is preferable, right?

The trouble is leftists have a way of distorting reality. In practice, these laws — as even President Donald Trump foolishly insisted last year — “Take the guns first, go through due process second.”

The National Rifle Association too was initially open to the concept of court orders with a high legal threshold for removal of firearms, but said of the Colorado legislation, “Unchallenged statements made by a petitioner before a judge … would be sufficient for law enforcement to enter that person’s home and confiscate their private property.” Only after having their gun(s) confiscated would an individual be able to go to court and work to get them back. Think an aggrieved former lover won’t be first in line to stick it to their ex?

That is not protecting due process; it’s an outright attack on it, presuming guilt of someone who hasn’t even been charged with a crime, and then enacting preemptive punishment. That’s not the way to sensibly restrain people actually bent on doing harm.

In fact, some sheriffs are refusing to enforce such laws, adopting the “sanctuary” language of immigration law, but in this case to defend an actual constitutional right.  ~The Patriot Post
