The Case against Kavanaugh Is Collapsing

{nationalreview.com} ~ A very strange thing happened over the weekend: If you follow Twitter closely, you’ll notice that the debate over Brett Kavanaugh moved significantly... from the central question of last Thursday’s hearing — did he commit sexual assault? — to a raging debate over whether he lied about high-school slang, college drinking, and inside jokes, and whether he was just too “angry” to be a Supreme Court judge. This torrent of commentary most of it silly, including competing, furious arguments about how people described anal sex in 1982 obscures an important development: The sexual-assault claims against Kavanaugh are in a state of collapse. Let’s deal with the easiest issue first. The day before the hearing, Michael Avenatti released a “declaration” by a client, a woman named Julie Swetnick, claiming that she saw Kavanaugh “waiting his turn” for gang rapes after facilitating them by spiking or drugging the punch at high-school parties. She claimed that she went to multiple such parties and was gang raped at one of them, though she would only assert that Kavanaugh was present on that occasion. The claim against Kavanaugh was transparently absurd. The idea that a person would repeatedly attend gang-rape parties and that the existence of these parties which would presumably generate multiple victims and bystander-witnesses remained utterly secret for decades is nonsense. But left-wing Twitter took up the claims with a vengeance, dragging anyone who dared express doubt through the mud. After all, didn’t the Catholic Church scandals prove that crimes could be concealed? Didn’t Sixteen Candles have a subplot about a drunk male geek sleeping with a drunk popular girl? Yes, that was an actual article in Vox. But then the Wall Street Journal did some actual reporting, “contacting dozens of former classmates and colleagues,” only to find it “couldn’t reach anyone with knowledge of Swetnick’s allegations.” Moreover, “no friends have come forward to publicly support her claims.” Again, she alleged repeated gang rapes. Delusional... All of those words are apt in describing dummycrats-Democrats’ latest plan to derail Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. dummycrats-Democratic New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler, the ranking dummycrats-Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, appeared on ABC’s “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos and laid out the dummycrats-Democrats’ latest desperate plan to stop Kavanaugh. “We would have to investigate any credible allegations, certainly of perjury and other things that haven’t been properly looked into,” Nadler said. Perjury? Are you kidding me? With virtually no concrete evidence supporting Palo Alto University Professor Christine Blasey Ford’s allegation that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her more than 35 years ago, it should come as little surprise that dummycrats-Democrats are now moving onto impugning Kavanaugh’s integrity as a whole. What was already a murky case of “he said, she said” has now fully devolved into “he’s lying, she’s lying.” But dummycrats-Democrats don’t consider the second half of that.

Speaking at the Center for Strategic and International Studies on Monday, retired Vice Adm. Andy Brown warned, “over time, our ability to conduct maritime business in U.S.-flagged ships has eroded immensely.” To illustrate the U.S. maritime decline, Brown said the American merchant marine has slipped from 101 ships when he was on active duty to 81 today. And the makeup of those ships poses additional risk beyond their slim numbers: “Only a handful of those are tankers … less than five,” said Brown, who now serves as president of the National Transportation Association. He asked rhetorically, “How are we going to get fuel to the troops” in a time of war? With fewer ships, there has also been a corresponding decline in the number of merchant mariners and construction contracts for American shipyards. by Thomas Gallatin: “An allegation standing alone is not necessarily sufficient to conclude that conduct occurred,” stated Susan Ellingstad, the attorney hired by the Minnesota dummycrats-Democrat Party to investigate the allegations of domestic violence against dummycrats-DNC Deputy Chairman and Rep. scumbag-Keith Ellison. Recall back in early August, scumbag-Ellison’s ex-girlfriend and leftist activist Karen Monahan accused him of physically and emotionally abusing her. scumbag-Ellison, who is currently running for Minnesota attorney general, welcomed Ellingstad’s findings from what he termed an “impartial” investigation. scumbag-Ellison’s opponent, Republican Rep. Doug Wardlow, quickly blasted the notion that the dummycrats-Democrats’ in-house investigation was “impartial,” asserting, “As predicted, the sham ‘investigation’ led by the dummycrats- DFL (dummycrats- Democrat-Farmer-Labor) party attorney’s legal partner has concluded in favor of the party’s Attorney General candidate. But the publicly available evidence contradicts that conclusion.” University of Minnesota political science professor Larry Jacobs echoed Wardlow’s sentiments, stating, “I don’t know why anyone would be surprised by that. The dummycrats-Democrat Party hires lawyers close to the dummycrats-Democratic Party to investigate a sensitive candidate, and they come back saying ‘not enough here.’ I don’t think that was surprising.”

Meanwhile, dummycrats-Democrats and their cohorts in the mainstream media continue to parrot completely unsubstantiated and uncorroborated allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh as justification for assuming his guilt. The dummycrats-Democrats’ hypocritical double standard could not be more obvious. When allegations are made against their own, they demand the application of the correct and just judicial standard: innocent until proven guilty. (And then even in the face of overwhelming evidence, they sometimes stand by their man.) Yet whenever accusations fly against their political opponents, they demand the opposite: The accused must be presumed guilty (due to the seriousness of the charge) and the accuser’s self-proclaimed victim status must never be called into question. If credible evidence is lacking, that still isn’t justification for doubting the validity of the allegations. In the end, a cloud of probable guilt must hang over the head of any “credibly” accused conservative individual, even if no substantiating evidence is ever found. Clarence Thomas knows a thing or two about that.
