{nationalreview.com} ~ A Washington, D.C., weatherman, who claims to have been romantically involved with Julie Swetnick, said in a sworn statement... provided to the Judiciary Committee this week that she confessed to enjoying group sex.  Dennis Ketterer claims to have met Swetnick in a Washington, D.C., bar in 1993 and says he spent time with her on a regular basis over the ensuing weeks before breaking things off when he learned about her admitted penchant for engaging in group sex. “During our conversation about sexual preferences, things got derailed when Julie told me she liked to have sex with more than one guy at one time. In fact, sometimes with several at one time. She wanted to know if that would be ok in our relationship,” Ketterer wrote in his statement, submitted under penalty of perjury. Swetnick’s attorney, Michael Avenatti, called Ketterer’s claims “garbage” and demanded that he be prosecuted for perjury. Swetnick initially accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting girls at a series of parties in suburban Maryland when he was in high school and implied that he participated in gang rapes during those gatherings...When is this garbage going to stop. Now Avenatti has another accuser.

{westernjournal.com} ~ For the past several weeks, dummycrats-Democrats and their liberal media allies have publicly excoriated Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh... over a number of uncorroborated allegations and unverifiable rumors of criminal wrongdoing, essentially convicting and sentencing him to political death in the court of public opinion. Obviously intent on derailing Kavanaugh’s nomination by creating a massive public outcry and rendering him toxic to moderate Republicans, dummycrats-Democrats had no problems whatsoever in publicly discussing every sordid detail of the allegations and smears hurled at the previously spotless nominee. Yet in spite of the blatant attempts to assassinate his character and destroy him politically, Kavanaugh managed to clear the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday, with the condition that the FBI open a limited investigation into the several allegations lodged against him. All indications thus far from that investigation suggest that nothing new will be found to stop Kavanaugh from being confirmed, and now dummycrats-Democrats suddenly want to ensure that any new information discovered about Kavanaugh is kept secret so only members of the Senate and select staffers will be permitted to see what the FBI produces after concluding the probe. CNN reporter Elizabeth Landers noted as much in a tweet quoting committee Ranking Member Dianne Fein-stein. Landers tweeted, “Fein-stein indicates that the FBI report on Kavanaugh should NOT be made public: ‘It would seem to me that if people are going to be identified this ought to be held very close and not. I think the investigation ought to be closely held,’ she, Fein-stein reiterated.” Funny, Fein-stein didn’t seem all that concerned about keeping people’s identities “closely held” when the letter sent to her from Kavanaugh accuser Christine Blasey Ford was leaked to the media, nor did she exhibit any such concern when she publicly spoke about some of the other individuals named by Ford, or the other accusers who have popped out of the woodwork in Ford’s wake...

Kavanaugh describes group of friends
as 'loud, obnoxious drunks' in 1983 letter

{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ A letter written by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh from his time in high school described him and his group of friends as “loud, obnoxious drunks.”... The New York Times obtained a copy of the June 1983 letter Kavanaugh sent to his friends in high school ahead of a weeklong beach vacation in Ocean City, Md., which included his recommendation to warn the neighbors of what they could expect from the group of boys. “It would probably be a good idea on Sat. the 18th to warn the neighbors that we’re loud, obnoxious drunks with prolific pukers among us,” Kavanaugh wrote in the handwritten letter. In his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee Friday, Kavanaugh said that he would occasionally have too many beers and “cringed” at his behavior as a high schooler and young college student...So what is the big deal, we have all been there and done that.

{dailycaller.com} ~ A majority of voters supports the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court if the FBI finds no corroborating evidence... to back up claims of sexual assault made against the nominee, according to a Monday poll. Following Thursday’s testimonies from Kavanaugh and his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, 60 percent of voters are in favor of confirming the judge to the nation’s highest court if no supporting evidence of sexual assault turns up, according to a Harvard University September 2018 Center for American Politics (CAPS) Harris Poll. Three quarters of voters said California dummycrats-Democratic Sen. Dianne Fein-stein should have given the letter from Ford — in which she alleged the judge assaulted her — to the Senate Judiciary Committee when she first received it in July instead of holding it until the middle of  Kavanaugh’s confirmation process. Most voters were strongly displeased with the Kavanaugh  confirmation process, saying it was “politicized and mishandled.” Sixty-nine percent of voters called the process a “national disgrace,” according to the poll. Voters acknowledged partisanship on each end of the political spectrum, with 54 percent blaming Republicans and 55 percent blaming dummycrats-Democrats...

{foxnews.com} ~ On the afternoon of Oct. 4, 2011, a backhoe dug into an excavation pit in Elmhurst, Queens, and struck iron... Construction workers assumed they had hit a pipe. But when the claws of the backhoe emerged from the ground, it was dragging a body clothed in a white gown and knee-high socks. Scott Warnasch, then a New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner forensic archaeologist, initially viewed the finding as a recent homicide. “It was recorded as a crime scene,” Warnasch, 52, told The Post. “A buried body on an abandoned lot sounds pretty straightforward.” It turned out to be anything but. The almost perfectly preserved body was actually that of a woman born decades before the Civil War. She had been buried in what was once the grounds of a church founded in 1830 by the first generation of free African-Americans. Now a new documentary, “The Woman in the Iron Coffin,” premiering Wednesday on PBS, provides the woman’s identity. The Post can reveal that researchers believe her to be Martha Peterson, who worked for a local white man with abolitionist leanings. The first clue was discovered by Warnasch at the site. “I came across metal fragments that are pretty distinctive,” said Warnasch, now a forensic consultant. “Right away, I knew what they were.”...

Out With NAFTA, in With USMCA

by Lewis Morris:  The United States and Canada reached a trade agreement moments before the Sept. 30 deadline, establishing a new North American trade pact between those countries and Mexico. The trade agreement will be renamed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), ditching the NAFTA title that has been used since 1994.

Renaming the agreement allows President Donald Trump to be able to say that he shredded NAFTA in favor of a better trade deal, and indeed the new pact looks to be a worthy if not really revolutionary replacement to its predecessor. So far, Mexico and Canada both seem to agree with Trump that this is an improvement on the old trade pact.
But how different is it? Investor’s Business Daily notes  that markets reacted “with a sigh of relief,” adding that’s “not because it’s a radical shift from the flawed former North American Free Trade Agreement, but because it isn’t.”
That isn’t to say there aren’t good provisions. The  USMCA will be reviewed every six years, which negotiators say will institute strict accountability among the three nations. The pact also includes provisions not seen in NAFTA that address intellectual property, digital assets, corruption, and regulatory practices.
Meanwhile, Canada will allow U.S. farmers more access to its dairy market, formerly a sticking point in negotiations. In return, Canada (and Mexico) will be protected from any current and future U.S. automotive tariffs. Earlier this year, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had dug in his heels on Trump’s calls for a new trade deal, but he changed his tune when Trump pivoted and announced a bilateral trade deal with Mexico in late August.
“USMCA will give our workers, farmers, ranchers, and businesses a high-standard trade agreement that will result in freer markets, fairer trade and robust economic growth in our region,” U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer and Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland said in a joint statement. “It will strengthen the middle class, and create good, well-paying jobs and new opportunities for the nearly half billion people who call North America home.”
Leaders from the three nations are expected to sign the trade accord in the next 60 days. After that it goes to the U.S. Senate for approval, and it would take effect in 2020.
Trump’s opponents have railed against his economic policies, including his vow to scrap NAFTA and replace it with a better trade deal. Yet, once again, he’s done just what he said he would do. Trump took heat in the press for claiming that NAFTA destroyed millions of jobs and thousands of businesses in the U.S. While American jobs and companies took a lot of hits during the NAFTA era, it’s difficult to determine whether NAFTA was the cause of all the economic heartache that took place. In some ways yes, in some ways no.
Just the same, Trump’s dealmaking skills forced Mexico and Canada to rethink the old arrangement, and he has come up with something that, while not a game-changer, looks to be better for the U.S. and will make the North American trade bloc more competitive on the world stage.
“But wait,” says Gary Bauer. “There’s more! Lost in the Kavanaugh kerfuffle last week, President Trump signed a new trade agreement with South Korea. In addition, China just announced that it is slashing tariffs on more than 1,500 products, responding to pressure from the Trump administration to open its economy to more American goods.”
While much of the media misses this kind of chess, renegotiating NAFTA is only one move in Trump’s larger strategy to achieve fairer trade for the U.S. with North America, Europe, and China. It sure would seem that Trump’s practice of putting America first is paying off for the American worker.
