Irony Alert: MLB Anthem Kneeler Arrested
by Jordan Candler: Late into the regular season, Oakland Athletics catcher Bruce Maxwell decided to join the “movement” spurred by former NFL quarterback and apparent protégé Colin Kaepernick by kneeling for the national anthem. As Maxwell explained when he began his stunt on Sept. 23, “My kneeling is what’s getting the attention, and I’m kneeling for the people who don’t have a voice. This goes beyond the black and Hispanic communities because right now we have a racial divide that’s being practiced from the highest power we have in this country saying it’s basically OK to treat people differently. I’m kneeling for a cause but I’m in no way disrespecting my country or my flag.”

I’m kneeling for a cause but I’m in no way disrespecting my country or my flag.” A Sports Illustrated article later stated that “Maxwell has been the target of racial slurs and threats of violence” in the aftermath of his kneeling. That may or may not be true, but Maxwell is certainly no stand-up guy and can even be accused of perpetrating the very things he supposedly despises. In Huntsville, Alabama — his hometown — someone is accusing Maxwell of “outright lying” over allegations of discrimination.
According to Fox News, “Maxwell, 26, claimed [last] week that a waiter … refused him service after identifying him as the MLB player who took the knee during ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ last month — only the waiter has a very different version of events and he told Fox News that was far from what went down.” In fact, the waiter says his refusal to serve alcohol to Maxwell’s friend due to an expired ID is what prompted the bogus story. And his manager is backing up the server’s version of events.
And there’s now yet another reason to question Maxwell’s allegations. In a terrible and telling display of his true character, Maxwell was arrested over the weekend for brandishing a weapon. According to another Fox News report, he “pointed a gun at a female food delivery person in Scottsdale, Ariz. Scottsdale police said officers went to Maxwell’s home Saturday night after getting a call about a person with a gun. Maxwell was booked on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct.”
And this is why nobody takes athletes’ social activism seriously — because a disproportionate number of them are uncivil and need to practice what they preach. How many athletes, particularly in the NFL, can be accused of sexual abuse and violence? Too many. And too many also have absolutely zero tolerance for authority. For example, the Associated Press reports, “All but 10 members of the Houston Texans took a knee during the national anthem Sunday, as the vast majority of the team protested the owner’s ‘inmates running the prison’ comment.” Ironically, the one thing you won’t see is anthem kneelers protesting the actions that make some of them inmates. ~The Patriot Post

U.S. Pursuing Rigorous
New Nuclear Inspection Regime in Iran

A delegation of 13 leading senators petitioned the U.S. Mission to the United Nations, led by Ambassador Nikki Haley, to implement a series of stricter inspection methods that would give Western countries a deeper look into Iran's suspected use of military sites to continue contested nuclear work prohibited under the landmark nuclear agreement, according to U.S. officials who spoke to the Washington Free Beacon. The Trump administration is said to be fully on board with these tougher inspection measures, which could address lingering questions about Iran's compliance with the nuclear deal, U.S. officials said. PODESTAS EMBROILED IN MUELLER PROBE

Gates, on twelve counts. The charges, which cover conduct going as far back as 2006 and continuing through 2016, include conspiring to defraud the United States in business dealings with Ukraine, conspiracy to launder money, false and misleading FARA [Foreign Agent Registration Act] statements, and being an unregistered agent of a foreign principal. In response to the news of the charges, President Trump tweeted: “Sorry, but this is years ago, before Paul Manafort was part of the Trump campaign. But why aren't Crooked liar-Hillary & the Dems the focus?????” In fact, at least some of the charges brought against Mr. Manafort and Mr. Gates may turn out to be millstones around the necks of the Podesta Group, the Democrat leaning consulting and lobbying firm co-founded by liar-Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta, and his brother Tony. Rep Nunes – FBI and liar-nObama Knew Who Paid For Fusion GPS Smear Dossier, Still Covering It Up

Nunes says, “We are just really at the beginning of unraveling questions that we’ve been asking since March. He says, “If people really believe the FBI did not know who paid for that dossier, I’ve got a bridge to sell you. There is no possible way that the FBI did not know who paid for that dossier. And yet month after month after month…” Ingraham interrupts to ask who paid for it. Mueller Should Recuse Himself From Russia Investigation

{thenewamerican.com} ~ On Monday, Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump's former campaign manager, and Rick Gates, a longtime business associate of Manafort, turned themselves into the FBI... and made their first appearance in the Federal District Court in Washington, D.C. The two men pleaded not guilty to all 12 charges, which included conspiracy against the United States, making false statements, and conspiracy to launder money. The 30-page indictment against Manafort and his associate made no mention of alleged Russian collusion by the Trump campaign. The indictment came from former FBI Director Robert Mueller, the special counsel who was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to oversee the investigation into “any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump, and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation.” Although it remains to be seen what, if any, evidence Mueller will uncover relative to the allegations of Russian collusion, Mueller himself ought to recuse himself from the investigation... https://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/politics/item/27268-mueller-should-recuse-himself-from-russia-investigation.

That Other Plot -- to Bring Down Trump
{townhall.com} ~ Well over a year after the FBI began investigating "collusion" between the Trump campaign and Vladimir Putin, Special Counsel Robert Mueller has brought in his first major indictment.
Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort has been charged with a series of crimes dating back years, though none is tied directly to President Donald Trump or 2016.
With a leak to CNN that indictments were coming, Mueller's office stole the weekend headlines. This blanketed the explosive news on a separate front, as the dots began to be connected on a bipartisan plot to bring down Trump that began two years ago.
And like "Murder of the Orient Express," it seems almost everyone on the train had a hand in the plot.
The narrative begins in October 2015.
Then it was that the Washington Free Beacon, a neocon website, engaged a firm of researchers called Fusion GPS to do deep dirt-diving into Trump's personal and professional life -- and take him out.
A spinoff of Bill Kristol's The Weekly Standard, the Beacon is run by his son-in-law. And its Daddy Warbucks is the GOP oligarch and hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer.
From October 2015 to May 2016, Fusion GPS dug up dirt for the neocons and never-Trumpers. By May, however, Trump had routed all rivals and was the certain Republican nominee.
So the Beacon bailed, and Fusion GPS found two new cash cows to finance its dirt-diving -- the DNC and the liar-Clinton campaign.
To keep the sordid business at arm's length, both engaged the party's law firm of Perkins Coie. Paid $12.4 million by the DNC and liar-Clinton campaign, Perkins used part of this cash hoard to pay Fusion GPS.
Here is where it begins to get interesting.
In June 2016, Fusion GPS engaged a British spy, Christopher Steele, who had headed up the Russia desk at MI6, to ferret out any connections between Trump and Russia.
Steele began contacting old acquaintances in the FSB, the Russian intelligence service. And the Russians began to feed him astonishing dirt on Trump that could, if substantiated, kill his candidacy.
Among the allegations was that Trump had consorted with prostitutes at a Moscow hotel, that the Kremlin was blackmailing him, that there was provable collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
In memos from June to October 2016, Steele passed this on to Fusion GPS, which passed it on to major U.S. newspapers. But as the press was unable to verify it, they declined to publish it.
Steele's final product, a 35-page dossier, has been described as full of "unsubstantiated and salacious allegations."
Steele's research, however, had also made its way to James Comey's FBI, which was apparently so taken with it that the bureau considered paying Steele to continue his work.
About this "astonishing" development, columnist Byron York of the Washington Examiner quotes Sen. Chuck Grassley:
"The idea that the FBI and associates of the liar-Clinton campaign would pay Mr. Steele to investigate the Republican nominee for president in the run-up to the election raises ... questions about the FBI's independence from politics, as well as the liar-nObama administration's use of law enforcement and intelligence agencies for political ends."
The questions begin to pile up.
What was the FBI's relationship with the British spy who was so wired into Russian intelligence?
Did the FBI use the information Steele dug up to expand its own investigation of Russia-Trump "collusion"? Did the FBI pass what Steele unearthed to the White House and the National Security Council?
Did the liar-nObama administration use the information from the Steele dossier to justify unmasking the names of Trump officials that had been picked up on legitimate electronic intercepts?
In testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, liar-Clinton campaign chair John Podesta and DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz claimed they did not know that Perkins Coie had enlisted Fusion GPA or the British spy to dig up dirt on Trump.
Yet, when Podesta testified, the lawyer sitting beside him in the committee room was Marc Elias of Perkins Coie, who had engaged Fusion GPS and received the fruits of Steele's undercover work.
Here one is tempted to cite Bismarck that, if you wish to enjoy politics or sausages, you should not inquire too closely how they are made.
Thus we have Free Beacon neocons, never-Trump Republicans, the liar-Hillary Clinton campaign, the DNC, a British spy and comrades in Russian intelligence, and perhaps the FBI, all working with secret money and seedy individuals to destroy a candidate they could not defeat in a free election.
If future revelations demonstrate that this is what went down, it is not only the White House that has major problems.
If you wish to know why Americans detest politics and hate the "swamp" that has been made of their capital city, follow this story all the way to its inevitable end. It will be months of unfolding.
The real indictment here is of the American political system, and the true tragedy is the decline of the Old Republic.
