Having traveled the world a bit and met many people from different cultures, I now think we are looking in the wrong places to fine enemies of freedom.
I believe that the biggest threat to freedom comes from within the United States and it some times gets draped in the Stars and Stripes and plays John Philip Sousa music!
Today we have 12 Air Craft Carrier Battle groups sailing the seven seas in search of an enemy and a mission.
We have troops garrisoned in bases in over 100 foreign nations , and we spend 5X as much the next highest nations does on their armed forces.
We have combat forces in Afghanistan engaged in a shooting war, For what reason are we there?

As for service I to am a vet. I spent 6 in the navy active and 4 more in reserves. Left when I was not promoted [post Vietnam Carter crap down sized out ] There were a lot of us who ended up that way.
I left as an 05 [silver oak leaf] and did not get my Bird so I was done.
I spent 18 months in Vietnam running a Squadron of P-3's designated to keep Yankee station safe from Subs . That was a lifetime ago .
The fact is we all have been hoodwinked but I woke up to the fact about 10 or 12 years ago.
