I stand amid the cultural wreckage of a community & country who thought throwing the baby ( traditional values ) out with the bath water ( old bias ) would usher in utopia!
Far from utopia I see the grim visions of Mad Max & Escape From New York having become common place within increasing sectors of urban society.
My role is simple: sift the wreckage of empire Americana until the spirit of her greatness once again rises to the fore!
Her embattled civic culture, tattered by socialists and nihilists alike, still provides a breath taking common ground where anyone can function so long as he adheres to its values.
Contrary to the grievance mongers eternal complaint, this same civic culture they've beaten into wreckage can save the waning day if only we embrace it anew!
Some may say if Americana is now wreckage, what hope remains? The hope is the spirit has not yet vacated said wreckage.
The spirit of Americana is told in the stories of various groups united beneath her banner!
I can look at aboriginal peoples, pilgrims, slaves, confederates, abolitionists, legal immigrants from around the globe and their free progeny and know the spirit of Americana vacates this wreckage only if we fail to make this reclamation our top priority.
The wreckage of Americana has a spirit within her ruins which still over shadows other lands.
Will you help rebuild the wreckage of Americana... from within, using her vacated values as ( re-) building blocks?
