Now, it gives me great pleasure to introduce a new acquaintance from Israel who has kindly penned an article providing insights from an Israeli standpoint.

In 2018, President Trump moved the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the capital city of Jerusalem righting an historical injustice.

Our new friend expressed the following: American people are waking up to a horrifying reality that has existed in Israel for decades.  That is the ability of the powerful elite in corporate media, the courts, and special interest groups to prosecute individuals whom they feel pose a threat to their worldview perspective (and profits), all under the guise of “Saving Democracy”.

If you, the American people, fail to take note of the lessons from Israeli history and current events, your beliefs and values, along with the personal freedom to make your own decisions, are in grave danger!

Unfortunately, Israel has had many experiences with “witch hunts”.   A prime example is Prime Minister Netanyahu who has won election after election, irking the left.  Upon realizing that they were unable to beat him at the ballot box, they charged him (and harassed anyone associated with him) with ridiculous accusations.  One “crime” is receiving “gifts of cigars and champaign”. 

To put additional pressure on him, his wife was accused of pocketing $6000.00 in soda bottle refunds (technically, that money belongs to the state). They violated the civil liberties of those close with him, (such as his cousin and aides) by putting him them in rat-infested cells until they spoke (the left-wing supreme court even admitted that much of their testimony was gathered illegally through police coercion but, with powers never granted to them, ruled they would be admissible this time).

One by one, the majority of the government witnesses declared on the stand that they were blackmailed into testifying.  With the government’s case quickly unravelling, they brought in Yair Lapid, head of the official Knesset opposition, to testify as a government witness against his political rival, a hall mark of a banana republic.  

They have disqualified right-wing candidates from running into the Knesset for being “unreasonable”, a new legal ground invented by the Israeli courts (it should be pointed out that Arab MKs who have called for Israel’s destruction and supported the killing of Jewish civilians, have been allowed to run).  As a result, a small but powerful section of Israeli society (of which most government bureaucrats, judges and union heads belong) have usurped power from democratically elected Knesset members and anyone standing in their way (especially if viewed as a threat), who run the risk of legal trouble and endless investigations.  

We have developed a two-tier justice system, where powerful left-wing politicians (including former Prime Ministers) have been investigated for serious crimes and despite the preponderance of convincing evidence, have been treated with kid gloves, or less.  As a result, the power of my vote (and freedom) has decreased while the “unelected” opinions of bureaucrats continue to increase.  

Today, the majority of Israelis realize this and are actively calling for Judicial reform in order to restore the concept of “one person, one vote”, not just in technicality, but also in reality.  

The move from a free society to tyranny is a slow and slippery slope that if left unchecked can only worsen.
