Personally, I support providing a safety net of assistance for those who qualify for assistance if they are unable to work, but when their safety net becomes a hammock the words of Paul to the Thessalonians apply.
However, in a recent survey conducted by the Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, when the SNAP rolls of EVERY state were requested, only the Red states complied.; the Blue states refused. With only the Red states' data it was discovered that there were 186,000 deceased recipients in these states; over 500,000 were either receiving duplicate payments or were otherwise ineligible. Sec. Rollins suggested that ALL recipients' eligibility be renewed only after submiting their qualifications for benefits for subsequent approval. Anyone want to guess how many ineligible recipients are in the Blue states?
Good point. First we clean and prosecute. Then we streamline and then downsize by providing more jobs for those who can work on the SNAP Program. This will take the rest of Trumps term......if he survives.
Hey Steve, Did any of your mentors in the military teach you the axiom to "NEVER REINFORCE FAILURE!" Welfare programs are designed to reinforce failure! They remove the pressure from adults to correct their course after they have made a series of BAD DECISIONS (i.e. FAILURE). God (YHWH) commands Parents to raise their children in the knowledge of the LORD! Sometimes Parents make the bad decision to fail to fulfill their responsibilities to their children, usually because the parents are too lazy and self-centered to do the hard right and choose the easy wrong. Nevertheless, once their children begin to fail, the Parents can correct course and intruct their adult children in the knowledge of the LORD. I know it does not always work out that way, but God (YHWH) commands that a hand up begins with the FAMILY, then the Church Family, then the local community, but never the Secular Government! If we, the United States of America, fail to observe and heed the Word of God (YHWH), any action we take outside of God's (YHWH) commandments will be a FAILURE. Welfare was a losing proposition from the moment it was instituted and it has forced the USA into $38 Trillion in debt. At some point, if we continue to disobey God (YHWH) and continue down this path which is bankrupting the country, the dollar will suddenly become WORTHLESS and then all of us, the faithful and the unfaithful, will be destitute. So what you are proposing looks good on paper; however, it violated both the Laws of God (YHWH) and the military axiom of "Never Reinforce Failure" thus these reforms will just continue the march into the abyss! Yes, "NEVER REINFORCE FAILURE!" I agree. SNAP was designed to help people & families who have fallen on hard times to recover and then get back to work, which I completely agree with.
However, once the Dems realized they could buy votes, influence legislation, and control the masses with it, they weaponized it not against a target but for themselves, the Democrat Cabal.
The silly Republicans blindly followed suit. Now we have a Frankenstein program that is out of control! So what must be done? Clean up what we have. Prosecute the offenders and then streamline the program back into what it should have been in the first place, 'help for the needy.' Short-term and structured.

SNAP is like ObamaCare. The ONLY way to fix it is to destroy it and then tell each of the states that if they want a SNAP like program that they are free to build one and FUND it. The problems with SNAP are many; however, one of the biggest problems is that the program is Federally Funded and State Administered. When you decouple Fiscal responsibility from Operational responsibility you have created a disaster. The States, who are not paying the costs, have NO INCENTIVE, to properly manage the program since their sugar daddy, the Federal Government, is going to make them whole.
I will remind you that SNAP is a clear overreach and has NO BASIS within the US Constitution! Furthermore, we live in the richest nation in the world. A nation where our "poor" are in the top 10% most wealthy people on the planet. SNAP and all of the other Federally funded and State Admnistered Welfare programs are a violation of the US Constitution and the ONLY thing any of these programs has achieved is DEPENDECY and Generational Poverty! If this is a Capitalist Nation, all of We the People must take personal responsibility for ourselves and our family and go out and become productively employed.
