On December 13th 2017, Barry Donadio attended a Queen Anne’s County Animal Welfare League Board meeting to hear the needs and concerns regarding animal care in the county.
Barry Donadio attended the meeting at the request of local constituents that are empathetic to animal care and rights.
Donadio is current Candidate for Commissioner in District 3. He also has an extensive background in law enforcement to include the U.S. Secret Service. During his long and honorable career he served as an Investigator for the law enforcement division of the the Suffolk County New York SPCA (Society For The Prevention Of Cruelty To Animals). He led over 40 investigations involving animal abuse and neglect in the late 1990s. He has always advocated for animal rights and human treatment.
Donadio said “I attended the AWL board meeting as a neutral observer in order for me to learn the concerns of the community and work with all parties to improve animal treatment in our county.”
Donadio’s appreance at the meeting was mentioned in an article printed by the local Queen Anne’s County Paper, “The Bay Times”.
Donadio spoke briefly at the termination of the board meeting and encouraged everyone present to all work together on the same goal. He stated not to let minor indifferences get in the way of the final goal of improving conditions for the animals which he felt was the agenda of everyone present.
Donadio thanked the Board of Directors for investing the extra time after the meeting to listen to the concerns of the community. Donadio said “ That was considerate of the Board to give us extra time to speak, they didn’t have to stay once the meeting was over.”
Donadio is confident that the Board of Directors will address all of the concerns that was communicated and he looks forward to working with all interested groups moving forward.
Donadio later donated a cage for use at the animal shelter. He encourages all residents to take a moment to see if they have anything that they can donate to the shelter that may help.
