A federal court has ruled against a Texas law that would require voters to present photo IDs to election officials before being allowed to cast ballots in November. 

A three-judge panel in Washington ruled Thursday that the law imposes "strict, unforgiving burdens on the poor" and noted that racial minorities in Texas are more likely to live in poverty. 

The decision involves an increasingly contentious political issue: a push, largely by Republican-controlled legislatures and governor's offices, to impose strict identification requirements on voters. 

The ruling comes in the same week that South Carolina's strict photo ID law is on trial in front of another three-judge panel in the same federal courthouse. A court ruling in the South Carolina case is expected in time for the November election.

 

Now more than ever, our State legislators and the Governor's office need to step up and do what's right. Three unelected morons have said that Texas cannot use any ID requirements to limit voter fraud. This is apalling and unconscionable. These thugs in black need to go take a dip ... in the nearest sewer. That's where their partisan "ruling" belongs. Perhaps ruling is the wrong word. It imparts a legal standing to the OPINION that it probobly doesn't deserve. The federal judiciary has no business telling the State of Texas how to run an election. The Constitution (remember that pesky instrument guys) says that the State has the say on when and where and under what terms elections will be held. Article 1, Section 4 says:

 

"The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators."     Nuff said.....

 

Yes, the Voting Rights Act might get in the way, but the State has the authority and means to impose nullification. The voting Rights Act effectively takes away the "States Rights" in the above section and confers them on the federal government, as if they need any more fingers in State business. It is time for Texas to nullify the judges OPINION and get on with having an election. If the feds don't like it ... tough. WE MUST PUT THE FEDERAL MINIONS IN THEIR PROPER PLACES!  NO EXCEPTIONS!

    The Brennan Center for Justice is associated with good old George Soros.  They set out to do this study with the specific intent to get the results they got.  They had bias before even starting, thier mentodology was flawed, and their conclusions would not stand up to statistical scrutiny.  They should be exposed somehow, and the politicians using thier data should be exposed and prosecuted for knowingly misleading the public, and using fraudulent data to substantiate public policy.

    Texas should be like Arizona and take care of its own state since the Feds and Activist Judges want to tear our nation into shreds and let illegal persons vote.  This is the apex of all ignorance and idiocy.  Texas, you and you citizens do what you need to do to qualify the voters.  Remember the "chad" thing--give them something to look for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Let inorance and hate for this nation flap right back in their seditious faces.  God Bless the United States One Nation Under God.  +++

    This is so stupid!!!! Drives me crazy that they can demand you need photo ID to buy psuedophedrine, housing, write a check in the Fed Post Office as well as many other things!!! But you don't need an ID for the most important right we have!!! Obama must have a cell of fraudulent voters there or something!!!! Let's get Fed. Gov out of the states business, and out of "We the People" freedoms!!!!! We have sat back way to long and let them dig their claws in too long!!!!

    We know the organization that did this "Flawed" study definitly committed a fraud to try and mislead the American public.  That is a crime, and at the very least they should be drug into court and sued.  All the politicians using that data, and knowing it is flawed are guilty of a federal crime.  Lets go after them.

    Or now you need a ID to register . Pass a new state law every year you need to register. I'm afraid civil war is enviable if the obamanation gets reelected.

    This is what it's going to now. The Judges are not follow the constutitions and they know it. If Romney gets in we have to push him eliminate these Judges possions. Like Newt said. Take them out. This is tyranny people nothing else. Communist have the Judges in there pocket. We all; know that it is a lie. The state will pay for it. This is like the Bible said wrong becomes right. We really have top puch Romney really hard if he gets in. I can't believe these Judges. Knowingly violating the Constutition. We are filled with communist ever were.

    At the last election in 2008 I offered my Md driver's license and the lady behind the desk said it wasn't necessary.  I told her I wished it was.  All states should require some form of identification and not a copy of a utility bill but the real thing.  The election clerk then stamps it with indelible ink-voted.

    Judges in America do not rule on the Constitution anymore.There has to be a way to force these morons to obey the will of the people besides voting them out. how about like in the original movie walking tall when Buford Pusser moved the judge into the john.That's where these activist judges belong.

    What business is it of the federal level what the state law says?  It is time for all states to get a backbone and take back the powers that were saved to them and not passed to the federal level.  It is time the states say we don't care what you say, it is our power, not yours, so buzz off!
