  • Qatar is a filthy rich Principality that invites American Politicians and Influencers to visit while it puts on airs to convince the visitors that Qatar is a nice place with nice people and a country which has power; however, everything one sees in Qatar is a mirage... it is FAKE! The ruling family of Qatar lives in constant fear of both Iran and Saudi Arabia. If you know the history of the Middle East, you will know that Qatar, from around 1602 to 1971 was a Protectorate of the British Crown. The Brits highly valued their line of communications between White Hall (London) and the Raj in India; however, they had a serious problem with the various Emirates in the Persian Gulf committing Piracy, mostly from Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai (all now part of the United Arab Emirates/UAE). Back in the 1600's, the British wanted nothing to do with the Bedouin tribes of what is now Saudi Arabia. These Bedouin tribes were correctly characterized as Islamic Terrorists and the reason the Emirates along the coast were committing Piracy is because the Bedouin tribes routinely raided the towns along the coast, so the Emiratis were forced into Piracy by the Saudi Bedouin. The British begrudgingly offered protection to what were 10 Emirates in what is today the UAE. The Emirs (Princes) of Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait heard about this deal and wanted the same arrangement with Great Britain. The British already had a relationship with the Kuwaitis and Bahrainis, but they were not interested in having a relationship with the Qataris since they were infested with Islamic Radicalism. Nevertheless, much like the story in the Book of Joshua, the Qataris sent a small delegation to the British Army that had landed in Dubai and which was making these treaties with the local tribes/Emirates. The Qatari delegation tricked the British Officers into believing that they were from a nearby tribe and the British Officer in Charge signed a Protectorate Treaty with them. After the Qatari Delegation went home their Emir then demanded the British live up to the Treaty arrangement. The Qatari Emir did not want to miss out on getting protection from the Saudi Wahhabi Tribes.
By the end of Operation Desert Storm, the US had a treaty presence in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait but Qatar was left out. Qatar wooed the US Government to place Prepositioned Equipment Sets in Qatar and to build the CENTCOM forward Headquarters and establish a US Air Base in Qatar so that they could be part of the club. The US was all to happy to obtain all of these basing and staging rights.
In the 1990s, the US Government pushed Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the UAE, and Oman to form the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). This was to be the replacement for the loss of influence over Iraq to counter-balance the power of Iran in the Persian Gulf. All of the Emirates (Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE and Oman) deferred to Saudi Arabia as the leader of the GCC, but Qatar did so with the intent of gaining greater position and recognition within this alliance.
Fast forward to the late-2010's and Qatar, desiring to be just as influential as Saudi Arabia, decides to take an over-sized role in diplomatic brinkmanship and in the process it took positions which were NOT in the best interests of the other GCC member states, like siding with Terrorist Organizations and the Palestinians. Eventually, Qatar became an outcast, though remaining a part of the GCC.
So, Qatar, a very oil/natural gas rich nation, is using its money to buy influence against the potential threat of invasion by Iran or Saudi Arabia (KSA took a chunk of land from Qatar in 1965) while also acting like it is a friend of the United States and the West, while simultaneously funding and providing safe haven for Islamic Terrorist Organizations, and supporting the Muslim invasion of US University Campuses. Qatar was a snake in the grass to sign its Protectorate Treaty with Great Britain and it is still a snake in the grass today.
