Trump lawyers reveal previously
unknown evidence in Michael Flynn case

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ A newly-leaked January 29 memo from President Trump's first legal team to special counsel Robert Mueller suggests the president believed fired national security adviser Michael Flynn... was no longer under investigation when he famously asked FBI Director James Comey — by Comey's account — to let the Flynn case go. With a wealth of previously-unreleased information about the Flynn affair, the memo also supports the contention that the FBI did not believe Flynn lied to the agents who questioned him in the Trump-Russia probe. The bureau interviewed Flynn on Jan. 24, 2017, about his transition conversations with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. In March 2017, Comey told the House Intelligence Committee that the agents "saw nothing that indicated to them that Flynn knew he was lying to them." Comey said the same thing to the Senate Judiciary Committee at around the same time; chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote recently that Comey "led us to believe … that the Justice Department was unlikely to prosecute Flynn for false statements made in that interview." Now, with the Trump lawyers' memo leaked to the New York Times, it seems clear that all the key players in the Flynn affair, including the president himself, were aware of the FBI's assessment in real time. And the president's knowledge — that the agents did not think Flynn lied, plus strong hints that the investigation was actually over — underlay Trump's Feb. 14, 2017, statement to Comey that, "I hope you can see your way to letting this go, to letting Flynn go." Trump's lawyers argue that the president had no intention to obstruct an investigation he thought was finished...   https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/newly-leaked-memo-previously-unknown-evidence-michael-flynn-case

Congress to Crack Down on Chinese Influence in U.S.

{ freebeacon.com } ~ Members of Congress are moving ahead with legislation seeking curbs on Chinese government influence operations in the United States... Lawmakers in the House plan to introduce legislation today that would require Chinese government-funded Confucius Institutes operating on American university campuses to register as foreign agents. The bill, called the "Countering the Chinese Government and Communist Party’s Political Influence Operations Act of 2018" also would require American intelligence agencies to provide a detailed report on Beijing's extensive covert and overt influence operations...

The government creates another housing bubble

{ aei.org } ~ Home prices are booming. So far, 2018 has posted the strongest growth since 2005... “About 60% of all U.S. metros saw an acceleration in the rate of price increases through February this year,” according to Housing Wire. Since mid-2012, real home prices have increased 28%, according to data from the American Enterprise Institute. Entry-level home prices are up about double that rate. In contrast, over the same period household income has barely kept pace with inflation. The current pace of home-price inflation is increasing the risk of another housing bubble. The root of the problem is declining underwriting standards. In April  Freddie Mac announced an expansion of its 3% down-payment mortgage, the better to compete with the Federal Housing Administration and  Fannie Mae. Such moves propel home prices upward. Because government agencies guarantee about 80% of all home-purchase mortgages, their underwriting standards guide the market. Making lending even more dangerous, CNBC recently reported that “credit scores may go up” because new regulatory guidance allows delinquent taxes to be excluded when calculating credit scores. These are only some of the measures that “expand the credit box” and qualify ever-shakier borrowers for mortgages...   http://www.aei.org/publication/the-government-creates-another-housing-bubble/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTVdOa056Qm1PVFppTlRWayIsInQiOiJpbjg4Vk50U0lQem1BTTBaTnZBbG90K2ZIczdjcEp3Q2hTMXYyMStreGlqWmJVSDBuMHRTQll6Vklrbk1OM203emkxYWpMTnJ2Yk80dmJpZnR0WUxrdXpVbm5iRXZnYm5FMm1ZXC9qbFQwK3pWaGFQcXZZNTkzMXB3WnZyUGd5WjAifQ%3D%3D

What's the Deal With Kuwait, and Why's the World Ignoring It?

{ israeltoday.co.il } ~ Kuwait calling for a UN resolution to set up an international "protection mission" for the Palestinians... is just the latest in a long list of initiatives to condemn and vilify Israel by the oil-rich emirate. One need but recall the outrageous behavior of the speaker of Kuwait's National Assembly, Marzouq Al-Ghanim, during the Forum for International Parliaments held in St. Petersburg last October. "Occupiers and murderers of children," he lashed out at the Israeli delegation, who left the forum after Al-Ghanim said that Israel "represents the worst form of terrorism." For more than two years now, Kuwait Airways has been discriminating against Israelis, a practice that, by the way, was approved by a German court. In short, Kuwait, which owes its very existence to the West, has become a real menace for Israel. To better understand the behavior of Kuwait's de facto ruler, this 49-year-old billionaire who is largely filling in for the absent 89-year-old Emir Sabah Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, I spoke with Edy Cohen from the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies. Cohen, who has tens of thousands of followers on his Arabic-language Facebook page and is one of the very few Israelis invited to speak on Al-Jazeera, knows the Muslim world at least as well as the Muslims themselves...One question that has not been answer is why would the Palestianians bring their children to a war zone.

Supreme Court Sides With Religious Liberty

by Political Editors:  In a major defense of religious liberty and artistic expression, the Supreme Court ruled 7-2 in favor of baker Jack Phillips in Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission. Recall that Phillips had been charged by the Colorado Civil Rights Commission of having unlawfully discriminated against a homosexual couple for refusing to bake them a customized wedding cake. He had objected based on his strongly held Christian beliefs. Rather than simply find another baker, of course, the couple sued, seeking to force Phillips into compliance.

The Court’s majority opinion, written by Justice Anthony Kennedy and joined by all but the dissenting Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor, stated, “The laws and the Constitution can, and in some instances must, protect gay persons and gay couples in the exercise of their civil rights, but religious and philosophical objections to gay marriage are protected views and in some instances protected forms of expression. While it is unexceptional that Colorado law can protect gay persons in acquiring products and services on the same terms and conditions as are offered to other member of the public, the law must be applied in a manner that is neutral toward religion.”
The Court did not, however, totally settle the issue of whether religious objections cover a multitude of denied services. Kennedy said larger questions “must await further elaboration.”
During oral arguments, Justice Kennedy notably criticized the Colorado Civil Rights Commission for its disparagement of Phillips’ religious convictions. The commission outrageously compared his beliefs to defenses of slavery and the Holocaust. Kennedy stated at the time, “This sentiment is inappropriate for a commission charged with the solemn responsibility of fair and neutral enforcement of Colorado’s anti-discrimination law — a law that protects [against] discrimination on the basis of religion as well as sexual orientation.” The commission’s hostility to Phillips’ view was the basis for the SCOTUS ruling.
Politically speaking, there are two reasons Democrats will seize on this decision for 2018. First, they will argue this decision is why Demos must control the Senate, so as to keep Trump from appointing any more judges. Second, they will also do so because, even though homosexuals are a minuscule percentage of the population, their biggest supporters are Demos’ biggest and most loyal constituency, women voters.
This ruling should be welcomed by all Americans who hold our religious liberty in high esteem. The Founders certainly did. It’s why they crafted the First Amendment. But there will be more battles on this front in the coming years, so keep your powder dry.   ~The Patriot Pos

{ rickwells.us } ~ Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley had originally scheduled a hearing for next Tuesday into the DOJ Inspector General report... on the liar-Clinton cover up masquerading as an investigation. With the IG report still not yet released, he’s been forced to move the date up to the following Monday, June 11th. Certainly the report will be out by then, although it’s likely the delay was due to DOJ cover up attorneys and other deep state bacon-savers demanding some rewrites “in the name of national security” or to “protect sources and methods.” What they are unable to successfully demand be removed and kept from the American people will be the topic of testimony in both a public and private setting. The public hearings are due to convene at 2pm on June 11th and will be live streamed to the public. It is expected that James Comey, Andrew McCabe and Loretta Lynch, at a minimum, will be the focus of probable criminal wrongdoing. While McCabe and Comey are pathological liars, Lynch is notorious for word-parsing and refusing to answer questions. She may be more forthcoming following these hearings, when the evidence against her has been laid out by her former co-workers who are also in legal jeopardy and could be quite chatty in the interest of saving their own hides...Why reschedule, you'll get more delays.   https://rickwells.us/grassley-ig-report-hearings/

Nunes Damages Own Credibility
with Stumbling Gowdy Damage Control Flop
{ rickwells.us } ~ House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes had a difficult, perhaps impossible job to do in his Sunday morning interview with Maria Bartiromo... to spin the comments of his lieutenant on the Intel Committee, Trey Gowdy, into something that they weren’t. Nunes has earned recognition as one of the few good guys in Congress and a leader in getting to the bottom of the corruption of DOJ, the liar-nObama regime and the deep state swamp in general. Bartiromo played the ridiculous and now infamous clip of Gowdy claiming that the FBI did “exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do” by spying on the Trump campaign and that it had “nothing to do with Donald Trump.” She asks, “Congressman, what does Trey Gowdy say there?”  Nunes then embarks on a self-discrediting effort to salvage the badly beaten reputation of his exposed colleague, saying, “Trey Gowdy believes that he has been told multiple times by the Department of Justice that Donald Trump, President Trump is not a target of this investigation.”...

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Free Beacon's analysis, that spike was instigated not by domestically produced meth, but by a surge of amphetamines trafficked by Mexican cartels into the United States...   http://freebeacon.com/issues/analysis-meth-crisis-america/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=df91788af9-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_06_03_11_07_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-df91788af9-45611665

{ townhall.com } ~ The scientific, moral and theological battle between life as an "endowed unalienable" right and the evolutionary view that we are just material and energy shaped by pure chance in a random universe with no author of life, no purpose for living and no destination after we die has been won in Ireland by the evolutionists.

Once strongly Catholic Ireland has removed protection for the unborn, at least through the first 12 weeks of a woman's pregnancy, with the repeal of that country's eighth constitutional amendment. Now that the door has been opened, as in America with Roe v. Wade, watch for the inevitable push for abortion on demand at any stage of fetal development.

The generational change, the scandals in Ireland's once-dominant Catholic Church, the way the constitutional amendment was written in language that seemed harsh to many, the changing mores of an increasingly secular society, pressure from other European Union states that already allow abortion on demand, a media bias in favor of the repeal vote -- all of these contributed to victory for the "yes" side.

Ireland's pregnancy help centers, which assist women with unplanned pregnancies at no charge, were virtually ignored by the media in favor of the "right" of women to make their own choices. The argument against abortion is an old and familiar one, but no less powerful when one seriously considers that the unborn child is not a "part" of the woman. That point is driven home when the child is allowed to live because the child then grows and lives physically apart from its mother, potentially for decades.

Such arguments do not resonate with a younger generation that has been brought up to believe they can do whatever seems right in their own eyes, effectively becoming little deities, even in matters as profound as life and death.

Independent Irish Senator Ronan Mullen told the Irish Times, "Ireland has lost something very beautiful" with the vote to repeal the Eighth Amendment. ... "a lot of unborn children will lose their lives in future -- that is what happens when abortion gets legalized. I would ask people to keep those children in their thoughts and prayers today, and their mothers, and those involved in their lives."

Pro-lifers should increase their support of the country's pregnancy centers, where women can be offered help, adoption services and other aid, and be encouraged not to "play God" and to deliver their babies even in difficult circumstances. The many women I have spoken to over the years who made such a decision have told me they have never regretted it, while many others who have had abortions -- some more than one -- live with regret their entire lives.

On the day the vote took place, a Washington Post editorial praised D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser for adopting a child, noting the "progress" made since adoption agencies no longer require a two-parent home. The Post, which is editorially "pro-choice," seems unaware of the irony, that in order for the mayor to have adopted her daughter, a woman had to decide not to abort her. Adoption, not abortion, is the best choice for a woman who does not want her child, because someone does, as evidenced by the waiting list of couples seeking to adopt.

Some Irish eyes are smiling over the outcome of the repeal vote, which must still be implemented by the Irish legislature. The eyes of many others are weeping for the babies who will die and the women who will join other women and come to regret aborting their children.

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ Since the arrest of Tommy Robinson on May 25, the presence generally -- and incorrectly -- referred to as 'Asian grooming gangs' has been back in the news... This has reignited a debate about whether victims are getting justice and whether perpetrators are encountering it. In all this at least one key element is missing. What price has been paid, is being paid, or might be paid at some stage, by all those public officials who tacitly or otherwise allowed these modern-day atrocities to go on, doing nothing to stop them? The policemen, politicians, council workers and others who were shown to have failed time and again. They have never been sentenced to prison for any of their oversights -- and perhaps criminal charges not even charges of criminal negligence could never be brought against them. It is worth asking, however, if any of these people's lives, career paths, or even pension plans were ever remotely affected by their proven failure to confront one of the greatest evils to have gone on in Britain. That is the mass rape of young girls motivated by adults propelled by among much else racism, religiosity, misogyny and class contempt...   https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12435/rape-gangs-oxford

by Caroline B. Glick
{ jewishworldreview.com } ~ Israel has a problem with its security brass. And this week we received several reminders that the situation needs to be dealt with.

Since the Hamas regime in Gaza announced in March that it was planning to have civilians swarm the border with Israel, through this week’s Hamas-Islamic Jihad mortar and rocket assault on southern Israel, the IDF General Staff has been insisting there is only one thing Israel can do about Gaza.

According to our generals, Israel needs to shower Hamas with stuff. Food, medicine, water, electricity, medical supplies, concrete, cold hard cash, whatever Hamas needs, Israel should just hand it over in the name of humanitarian assistance.

Every single time reporters ask the generals what Israel can do to end Hamas’s jihadist campaign, they give the same answer. Let’s shower them with stuff.

The fact that the Palestinian Authority is blocking humanitarian aid to Gaza makes no impression on the generals. For months now, PA chief Mahmoud Abbas has refused to pay salaries to Hamas regime employees or pay for Gaza’s electricity and fuel. Hamas, for its part, destroyed the Kerem Shalom cargo terminal two weeks ago, blocking all transfer of gas and food to Gaza. And this week it blew up its electricity lines with a misfired mortar aimed at Israel.

Hamas’s determination to use civilians as human shields for its terrorists is a pretty clear message that it does not care about the people it controls. But for whatever reason, it didn’t register with the General Staff. As residents of the South were rushing to bomb shelters every 10 minutes or so on Tuesday, generals were briefing reporters that Israel must give them medicine.

When Hamas then refused to receive medical supplies from Israel, the generals doubled down and said that the only card Israel has to play is to give Gaza humanitarian aid. And they told reporters that their job at the next security cabinet meeting will be to convince Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers that Israel needs to give the Hamas regime stuff.

Then there is the issue of terrorist bodies.

Hamas holds the bodies of Lt. Hadar Goldin and St.-Sgt. Oron Shaul, both killed in action during Operation Protective Edge in 2014. Hamas also holds Israeli civilian hostages Avra Mengistu and Hisham a-Suwaid.

In January 2017, the security cabinet decided that Israel will retain the bodies of terrorists rather than transfer them to Palestinian authorities for burial. The purpose of the decision was to pressure Hamas to release the Israeli hostages and remains of the IDF personnel it holds.

Despite the cabinet decision, since the cabinet made its decision, Israel has transferred to Hamas the bodies of five terrorist murderers. Each time, the IDF General Staff stood behind the move.

Currently, the government is holding the body of Hamas terrorist Aziz Awisat who just died in prison.

Media reports indicate the IDF is pushing for the government to appease Hamas again and transfer his body to Gaza for burial. To block the move, Goldin’s parents petitioned the High Court on Monday and demanded the government inform them 72 hours in advance of any transfer of a terrorist’s body to Hamas. The government agreed to the Goldin family’s demand on Thursday morning.

It is inarguable that these bodies of terrorists are valuable bargaining chips in the government’s efforts to repatriate its hostages and the remains of its soldiers. The fact that the IDF General Staff repeatedly undercuts the government’s efforts to secure their release, by surreptitiously transferring the terrorists’ bodies to Hamas, is of a piece with its irrational belief that it is Israel’s responsibility to ensure a quality of life for denizens of Hamasland.

If the IDF General Staff’s chronic insubordination on behalf of Hamas terrorists weren’t enough, there’s also Iran.

In 2012, former Mossad director Meir Dagan first revealed to celebrity leftist reporter Ilana Dayan that in 2010 he went behind Netanyahu’s back and informed then-US defense secretary Leon Panetta that Netanyahu had just ordered the IDF and the Mossad to prepare an attack against Iran’s nuclear installations.

In 2016, after Dagan passed away, Dayan released a tell-all interview with Dagan where he detailed precisely how he blocked Netanyahu’s order; Dagan told Dayan that he used both the liar-nObama administration, and an appeal to Israel’s legal establishment, to block Netanyahu from ordering the IDF and Mossad to attack Iran’s nuclear installations.

On Thursday morning, Dayan was at it again.

Her show, Uvda, released a preview of an interview set to air that evening with Dagan’s successor, recently retired Mossad chief Tamir Pardo. In his interview, Pardo relates that a year after Dagan scuttled Netanyahu’s order to prepare an attack against Iran’s nuclear installations, it was Pardo’s turn.

Pardo told Dayan that in 2011, Netanyahu again ordered the Mossad and the IDF to prepare the security services to attack Iran’s nuclear installations within 15 days. Pardo told Dayan that as he saw it, he had two choices: comply or resign.

So he chose a third option: legal subterfuge.

Dagan insisted at the Jerusalem Post Conference in 2015 that Netanyahu did not have the legal authority to order an attack against Iran. Only the security cabinet had the authority, he said. Dagan said he demanded that Netanyahu receive the approval of the security cabinet for the attack.

Apparently, Dagan based his legal position on a unique interpretation of the law regarding authority to declare war.

Under the law, the security cabinet is authorized to declare war. Dagan decided that Netanyahu’s order to strike Iran’s nuclear installations constituted a declaration of war. And so he said Netanyahu lacked the authority to order the attack. Perhaps afraid that he wouldn’t have the votes, perhaps afraid his plans would leak in the larger forum, Netanyahu stood down.

Pardo told Dayan that like Dagan, to get out of his dilemma of obeying Netanyahu’s order or resigning, he applied Dagan’s radical interpretation of the law to Netanyahu’s order.

Instead of resigning, or preparing the attack, Pardo said he went behind Netanyahu’s back to then-attorney-general Yehuda Weinstein, to get him to sign on to the Dagan-Pardo legal theory of what constitutes a declaration of war. And just as Pardo assumed would happen, Netanyahu stood down again.

Thanks to Pardo and Dagan, Iran’s nuclear expansion went on unimpeded. Thanks to Pardo and Dagan, then-US president Barack liar-nObama had a clear path to negotiate his 2015 nuclear deal with the mullahs that gave them an open path to a nuclear arsenal by 2025 and $150 billion to finance their regional aggression.

Early last month, the media and opposition lawmakers expressed outrage when the Knesset amended the law for declaring war. Under the amended law, under certain extreme circumstances, the prime minister and defense minister are empowered to declare war without security cabinet approval.

The media and opposition lawmakers presented the amendment as an arbitrary move. Netanyahu, the commentators and opposition lawmakers insisted, was giving himself dictatorial powers.

Cabinet ministers were embarrassed into action.

Last week, they voted to freeze the amendment and retain all power to declare war, even in extreme circumstances, in the cabinet’s hands.

Given that the normal interpretation of the phrase, “power to declare war,” would not include “power to order a strike against an enemy state’s nuclear installations,” no one made the connection between the amended law and the subversive behavior of two Mossad directors. No one realized that the purpose of the amendment was to prevent insubordination at the top levels of the security community. No one realized that the move was a means to ensure Israel’s elected leaders have the minimal authority they require to order the military and the intelligence services to take actions they deem necessary to ensure the national security of Israel.

But now, with Pardo’s interview, and recalling Dagan’s subversive actions, the need for the amendment is obvious.

It is past time for Israel’s political leaders to rein in our generals. Israel withdrew from Gaza in 2005.

Israel’s civilian responsibility for Gaza ended the moment the last soldier shut the gate.

Hamas is not Israel’s enemy because it lacks money or electricity. It is Israel’s enemy because it is a jihadist terrorist group committed to the annihilation of the Jewish people. No amount of free electricity or medicine will change this basic truth.

Hamas will not transfer the bodies of Israel’s fallen soldiers or release the Israelis it holds hostage because Israel gives it money or concrete. Hamas will not embrace Israel if Israel purifies the Gaza water supply which Hamas deliberately polluted by over-drilling.

The fact that the IDF General Staff hasn’t figured this out does not speak well of our generals’ cognitive capabilities.

In response to Pardo’s revelations, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan told Israel Radio on Thursday morning, “It seems problematic to me that the head of the most secret security organization we have is describing the [national security] decision- making process. And the fact that he placed doubt in the legality of the orders he received from Israel’s prime minister seems deeply problematic to me.

Erdan added, “If security or intelligence officials began questioning their orders, I assume they did great damage to Israel’s deterrence. Everyone who undermined Benjamin Netanyahu’s ability to advance his policies toward Iran over time has been deeply wrong.”

Over the past several months, the IDF General Staff’s handling of Hamas’s offensive along the border, like its handling of this week’s rocket and mortar offensive, has been marked by a lack of creativity.

Rather than consider new ways to handle old threats, the IDF repeated the tactics it has used to inconclusive ends for the past decade.

As for Iran, Netanyahu’s revelation of the Mossad’s stunning capture of Iran’s nuclear archive makes clear that Mossad officers have the capacity to do the impossible. Had Dagan and Pardo unleashed those capabilities in 2010 and 2011 rather than subverting Netanyahu’s authority, there is every reason to believe that Iran would not constitute the multidimensional threat to Israel it poses today.

Lt. Goldin’s parents, Simcha and Leah Goldin, told reporters this week that if the cabinet would simply implement its own decision to hold terrorists’ bodies, they would have had no need to petition the High Court against it.

They are right, and not just about the bodies of terrorists.

The cabinet – and the Knesset – must take ameliorative action against the security brass to end their subversion of our duly elected leaders. A first step in that direction would be to unfreeze the amendment to the war declaration law and give the prime minister and defense minister the ability to stand up to insubordinate commanders.

Never-Trumper Kasich Inciting Rino Rebellion as Right Thing to Do

Kasich, who always seems to under the influence of mind altering medications, chuckles for no apparent reason aside from his possible nervous discomfort over the deception he’s involved in. He tells his host, “Margaret, I have been frankly shocked at the fact that our leaders think that they’ve got to ask permission from the President to do anything.” What kind of out of touch propaganda is this guy coming up with? Why the Left Loves and Hates Science
by Daniel Greenfield

{ sultanknish.blogspot.com } ~ “Why do you hate science?”

That’s the question leftists have taken to asking non-leftists. Leftists claim to love science, insofar as anyone can love a method for testing a hypothesis, and accuse their enemies of hating it.

How can anyone love or hate an indifferent set of techniques? And how can an ideology that believes technological civilization is destroying the planet really claim to love the science behind it?

But swap out “science” for “god” and the question, “Why do you hate science” makes perfect sense. So do the constant assertions of love for science. These aren’t scientific assertions, but religious ones.

Actual science doesn’t care whether you love or hate it. That’s not how you engage with the theory of relativity. But religion is measured by love and hate. Either you love a deity or you hate it.

No one loves or hates science. But they do love Scienticism.

Scienticism is science without skepticism. It takes the ideas of science and uses them to create an infallible belief system that gives our lives meaning and dictates how we should live those lives.

In other words, a religion.

Contrary to popular disbelief, a religion doesn’t need a god. It does need some things. A creation myth that explains our lives. An enlightened leadership. The conviction that every person’s actions matter. Redemption, salvation and damnation. Miracles. An imminent apocalypse. A prophesized golden age.

Scientism offers all these things and more. Its creation myths inevitably lead to philosophies about our place in the universe. Its miracles are technological. Its heroes have super powers or spaceships. Global warming is on its way to destroy us. And only recycling and green energy can save us from the climate apocalypse. Its truths are infallible because they are prophesized by PhD’s wielding hockey stick graphs.

Its god is Homo Progressivus, born an ape and ascending to singularity synthesis. Its heaven is a social services agency. Its saints died for social progress. And if you want angels, why not try UFOs?

But what about the devil? In the early days of Scientism, superstition was the great antagonist of modernity. Technological progress had made a new sort of civilization possible. And Scientism was born out of that thrilling encounter with the future. We no longer believed in confessing to clergy. Instead we had our minds scientifically psychoanalyzed by Freudians. The imminent apocalypse had nothing to do with heaven, but everything to do with the class conflicts of capitalism. Our legends would no longer be about the past, but the wonders of the future. Our enemy was the past, with its tradition and ignorance.

The past is dead.

Religion is vanishing in Europe and America is catching up. Morals are as outdated as phrenology. No one believes in the golden future anymore. Least of all the worshipers at the chrome altar of Scientism.

Scientism had created a god of endless progress. A collectivist human engine of innovation. Now it turned him into the devil. Like Zoroastrianism, Scientism became a dual religion of two gods.

One good and one evil.

The Ahriman of scientism builds nuclear power plants, drills for oil, drives an SUV, launches spaceships and shops with plastic grocery bags. Its Ahura Mazda rides a bike, saves trash for compost, eats locally farmed food I recently passed a downtown Manhattan restaurant which promised that its food came exclusively from the local farms for which the island is renowned and gets his power from the sun.

Scientism both worships and demonizes science. It loves and hates it. Its mission is to save us all from the ravages of science. And if you question this mission, you’re accused of hating science.

The Scientism of 1918 and 2018 are both snapshots of a philosophical schism that tore the left apart.

The 1918 left reviled the capitalist, but admired the collectivist order of his factory. Its vision was to turn all of society into a factory without a capitalist owner. Social problems would be solved by experts. Organizations would impose efficiency. Global governments would end war, hunger, and euthanize people with flawed genes. The priesthood of public service would replace the service of god.

The 2018 left reviles the factory. Its scientism is an ugly half-breed, half hippie and half technocrat. It’s convinced that science makes it superior. And equally convinced that science is a cold, sterile philosophy of dead white men that cuts us off from the true intensity of feeling of the noble savage and pothead. It romanticizes rural living, handicrafts and religions that behead their daughters. And then it retweets Neil DeGrasse Tyson or Bill Nye to tell off those stupid science-hates who don’t believe science is destroying the planet. Don’t they realize that science has scientifically proven that science is evil?

Confused? So are they.

Technocracy, the factory model extended through the latest internet innovations and their philosophical afterbirths, is still at the heart of left. Despite its hippie affinity for local farms in Manhattan, trendy crafts, raw food and farmhouses in Vermont that no farmer can afford, it doesn’t actually want to move to a commune. Its urban and suburban efforts to mesh yuppie and hippie reflect a mixed-up culture.

And so the left wants us all to live in big cities and bike to work. It loves traveling on jet planes to get back to unspoiled nature. It can’t stop lecturing us on how much it loves science between its meditation classes and protest against nuclear power. It wants a government to use the latest technology to control every detail of our lives so that all the oppressed can finally be free.

Scienticism’s schizophrenia is due to the left trying to reconcile the factory and the commune in erratic and hypocritical ways. Its mind is with the factory, but its heart is in the commune. The technocratic system it’s inflicting on everyone uses false appeals to science as proof of its practical infallibility.

And that’s what the left always loved and truly loves about science.

Science gives it an unfounded sense of practical infallibility while its projected empathy gifts it with an even more unfounded moral infallibility. Between the two, the left is convinced that everything it does is bound to succeed and is the absolutely right thing to do. Even though history shows the exact opposite.

Every crackpot leftist theory from Marxism to Global Warming is cloaked in an inevitable something. The revolution of the working class can’t be stopped. The world is bound to run out of food, oil and sanctimony. The rise of the oceans can’t be stopped except by electing Democrats. Science says so.

But science is the opposite of infallible. Its strength is its fallibility.

Science offers a crab walk forward, because it’s willing to admit and correct errors. But Scientism never admits it’s wrong. Instead it claims that scientific testing has found it absolutely true. Then it hides its data and tries to pass laws banning anyone from questioning its absurdly premature conclusions.

Scientism strips science of its greatest strength and builds a cargo cult around wearing a lab coat.

The left loathes real science because it hates skepticism. But it loves infallibility. And that is all that’s left of its science. What was once the soul of secularism, a belief system bestriding civilization, now exists solely to offer infallibility to whatever loathsome nonsense the left believes at any given moment.

The rest of utopia has melted into a slimy soup of machine politics, identity politics, elitist snobbery and random tantrums by the sort of unstable people that cults tend to attract like flies to roadkill.

The left doesn’t love science. It loves its own power.

Take anything else that the left claims to love or care about, replace it with those words and you’ll have the right answer. The left doesn’t care about black people, it cares about power. It doesn’t care about women, gays, Syria, recycling, offensive t-shirts, education or Gaza. It cares about power.

Scienticism is a cult of power. Its dualism of the god and devil of science battling each other is a philosophical breakdown which reconciles a schism within the left by offering it even more power.

The old Scienticism believed that our only god would be human progress. Then the new gods of the New Frontier and Great Society with their sociology degrees and colored charts stared into the mirror, they went into the counterculture and came back having found that they were not only gods, but devils.

In worst blaze to date, Gaza fire kites
destroy vast parts of nature reserve
{ timesofisrael.com } ~ A blaze set by Palestinian protesters along the Gaza border devastated a nature reserve inside Israel on Saturday... in what officials said was the worst day of fires since the demonstrators adopted the fire kite tactics in the last few months. Arson investigators at the Carmia reserve said the fire was most likely set by a fire kite, or possibly a balloon filled with chemicals that dripped flames along the area, Hadashot news reported. By evening, teams of dozens of firefighters and aircraft finally managed to bring the flames under control, but not before some 2,000 to 3,000 dunams (500 to 740 acres) of fields and parts of a nature reserve adjacent to Kibbutz Carmia were destroyed...   https://www.timesofisrael.com/palestinian-fire-kites-destroy-much-of-nature-reserve-along-gaza-border/?utm_source=The+Times+of+Israel+Daily+Edition&utm_campaign=298ac6d7fe-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_06_03_04_30&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_adb46cec92-298ac6d7fe-54638825

{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ Yesterday in a discussion thread recognizing DPRK Vice-Chairman Kim Yong Chol, I noted the following... “The Trump administration is providing North Korea the first modern day opportunity to create an authentic version of itself“.  In essence, though it is difficult to describe, the Trump Doctrine has a clarity of purpose. The nature of the Trump foreign policy doctrine, as it has become visible, is to hold manipulative influence accountable for regional impacts, and simultaneously work to stop any corrupted influence from oppressing free expression of national values held by the subservient, dis-empowered, people within the nation being influenced. There have been clear examples of this doctrine at work. When President Trump first visited the Middle-East he confronted the international audience with a message about dealing with extremist influence agents. President Trump simply said: “drive them out.”...Full Speech Available HERE  VIDEO:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IHnuwFz518

Making Health Care More

{ americanthinker.com } ~ While staunch supporters are still a little slow to come around to the idea, most have reached the conclusion by now that the Affordable Care Act – AKA liar-nObamacare – isn't everything it was billed to be... While it's made health care more affordable for a few, it's ultimately driven up costs for the rest of the American population. It's an age-old question that's miffed politicians and lawmakers for decades, but it's worth asking again: is there a way to make health care affordable for the masses without government overreach? While we'll have to wait a number of years to understand the full impact of liar-nObamacare, it's not a stretch to call it a total failure. Yes, 20 million people picked up health insurance from 2010 to 2016, but that's about the only positive piece of news to report. The rest of the country has suffered or will suffer as a result of liar-nObamacare's shortcomings in the next few months or years...   https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/06/making_healthcare_more_affordable_without_government_overreach.html

Is the Investigation
of President Trump Legitimate?

by Judge Andrew P. Napolitano
{ jewishworldreview.com } ~ This past weekend, President Donald Trump and the most visible member of his legal team, former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, fired up their campaign against special counsel Robert Mueller. They attacked people at the Department of Justice whom Trump appointed. They smeared career DOJ lawyers and FBI agents by offering allegations without showing any supporting evidence. And they purported to challenge the legitimacy of Mueller's office itself.

The legitimacy question is an opinion Giuliani offered six times to my colleague Bill Hemmer on "Fox News Sunday." Surely, Giuliani is entitled to any opinion on any matter, but he must know that his illegitimacy opinion is baseless. Mueller's work, though a constant irritant to Trump, is quite legitimate. It is authorized by the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, which were approved by Congress. It was created by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, a Trump appointee. It has been ratified by six different federal judges.

The president himself has even accepted the legitimacy of some of Mueller's work. Trump unilaterally imposed financial sanctions on the Russian intelligence agents whom one of Mueller's grand juries indicted for computer hacking and other crimes allegedly committed during the 2016 election.

The recent claim by Trump and Giuliani that the investigatory process is rigged against Trump betrays insincerity by Giuliani and an effort to gin up the base by Trump. From his years as a federal prosecutor, Giuliani knows the prosecutorial mindset. It is not one of patiently examining law and facts to ascertain guilt or innocence. That is the judicial mindset.

Prosecutors target folks they believe are guilty and then look for enough lawfully acquired evidence to prove guilt. That is a legitimate use of government assets — a use geared to charging defendants, not evaluating their moral worth for high office.

One of the tools available to prosecutors — and often used in white-collar cases — is to dispatch a friendly person to chat with those at the periphery of an investigation to see whether any spoken words can lead prosecutors to credible evidence. This process of using an informant to gather evidence is so stunningly normal that it ought not even be of note. That's often how criminal investigations of nonviolent crimes begin — with conversations between intermediaries who spill the beans.

One of the most successful practitioners of this technique was a U.S. attorney in Manhattan named Rudy Giuliani. Today, as the spokesman for Trump's defense team, Giuliani is condemning this process he once perfected — a process he knows to be lawful — and he is doing this by calling the intermediary not an informant but a spy. Calling an informant a spy depends on where you sit. When he is your guy, he's an informant. When he is the other side's guy, he's a spy.

The Giuliani claim — unsupported by any public evidence — is that the liar-nObama administration sent an unnamed FBI undercover agent to inveigle the inner circle of the Trump campaign. If this is true and if it was done without a search warrant, it was a monumental violation of the civil rights of Trump campaign officials, including those of the man who would become the president. But Giuliani has shown no evidence for this.

How did we get here?

All of this spying and informing — this mishmash of law enforcement and intelligence gathering — is today the byproduct of the federal government's post-9/11 mentality. Before 9/11, the CIA gathered intelligence from outside the U.S., and the National Security Agency gathered intelligence from inside the U.S. The FBI constitutionally, for the most part, gathered evidence of crimes.

Pre-9/11, the intelligence community and the law enforcement community were prohibited from communicating with each other, for well-grounded historical and practical reasons. Because the intelligence community uses unconstitutional and often unlawful means to acquire data and because law enforcement must use constitutional and lawful means to acquire evidence for a court not to suppress it, they did not exchange notes.

But pursuant to the commands of the wildly unconstitutional Patriot Act six federal judges have held portions of it unconstitutional, the intelligence community and law enforcement began blending their work.

FBI agents soon realized that by portraying their work as intelligence gathering and not emphasizing the law enforcement aspects, they could go to a different court — the FISA court, with its unconstitutionally low bar for obtaining a search warrant namely, probable cause of speaking to a foreign person — to get search warrants. This proved far easier than obtaining a constitutional search warrant, which requires probable cause of a crime. An easier warrant means less work. That was a temptation too great to resist.

The intelligence community soon realized it could share with law enforcement what it found by spying on Americans, in return for law enforcement's looking the other way at the lawlessness of domestic spying. All of this produced a cowboy culture of utter disregard for constitutional norms in much of federal law enforcement and domestic intelligence gathering.

This is a form of corruption — the knowing governmental violation of constitutional norms and the intentional toleration of it, set below the radar.

Now back to Trump and Giuliani. If they are successful, they will have assaulted the rule of law by persuading the public to accept innuendo and known untruths. I am often on the side of the individual against the government, but if legitimate law enforcement has been or is undermined for political purposes, whether by President Barack liar-nObama in 2016 or by President Trump in 2018, all of us will suffer from more corruption.

Giuliani's job is not to be Trump's lawyer; rather, it is to effect public sentiment. For the government, as Abraham Lincoln once said, with public sentiment, nothing can fail; without it, nothing can succeed. Trump and Giuliani understand that better than they understand the rule of law.

{ rickwells.us } ~ The segment begins with John Brennan attacking President Trump, saying in an interview on MSNBC... “I think Mr. Trump has demonstrated a paranoia, an insecurity, as well as a real concern about the investigation that is underway.” It is Brennan, with his venomous public crusade against the President, who fits that description best, a point that Sebastian Gorka makes in the interview. Gorka says Brennan will likely continue speaking out “until he’s probably charged with being at the center of Spygate,” noting, “This is a man who’s done something no other former CIA Director has ever done. Nobody has attacked a sitting President in the way John Brennan does, in a way that undermines the integrity of the current government.” “He’s actually feeding in to Russian propaganda,” says Gorka, “and supporting people like Vladimir Putin with what he states.” He says that shouldn’t surprise anyone, given the fact that Brennan has actually admitted “at the height of the cold war in 1976, he voted for Gus Hall, the Communist Party candidate for American President.”...   https://rickwells.us/gorka-brennan-obama-conspired/

Calling Out a Republican Entitlement Reform Hypocrite

by Jordan Candler:  An intriguing op-ed appeared in The Wall Street Journal this week, the subject of which — “Entitlements Will Eat America’s Economy” — is especially salient for our reckless, spendthrift lawmakers on Capitol Hill. The author, who chaired the House Budget Committee from 1995 to 2001, worryingly observes that “it’s been 17 years since lawmakers and the White House approved a spending plan that didn’t add to the national debt.” This particular guru was largely responsible for the last balanced budget. Fast-forward to today, and our current fiscal dilemma evokes a great deal of trepidation.

Noting that “Washington set a record … in 2017 by passing six short-term extensions in less than a year,” the author goes on to report: “The latest spending bill, approved in February, did more than continue to fund the federal government; it also set America on a course to add at least $1 trillion a year to the national debt by 2020. … It took almost 200 years for the federal government to accumulate its first $1 trillion in debt. The next $20 trillion took less than four decades.”
This is inexcusable, indeed, and the writer puts his finger on the only viable solution: “The answer is clear. Republicans and Democrats in Congress must put aside divisive (and pointless) sound-bite politics and at long last get serious about meaningful spending restraint and entitlement reforms. Those discussions should begin with proposals to deal with the costs of Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security, which are the greatest contributors to spending and debt. Congressional leaders from both parties must pledge to vote on a package of meaningful reforms.”
Entitlements and welfare together siphon a huge proportion of government revenues, and they are projected to worsen significantly in the years and decades ahead. liar-nObamaCare didn’t help — in fact, it made the fiscal situation before its implementation seem relatively tame. Sadly, many state governors, tempted by the inflow of federal dollars that would ensue, took the bait by expanding Medicaid. Even the Republican governor of Ohio, John Kasich, expanded Medicaid and became one of that program’s most ardent advocates. In February 2017, he stated that Medicaid expansion rollbacks represent “a very, very bad idea, because we cannot turn our back on the most vulnerable.”
Furthermore, as National Review’s Jason Hart noted in June 2017, “Kasich’s public-relations campaign for liar-nObamacare’s Medicaid expansion could wipe out whatever chance remains for Congress to pass a substantial liar-nObamacare-repeal bill.” It apparently worked.
Which brings us full circle back to the Wall Street Journal op-ed. The author of that piece? Ohio Gov. John Kasich — the man who betrayed conservatives with his embrace of liar-nObamaCare’s Medicaid expansion. Patriot Post contributor Robin Smith highlighted the dual forms of hypocrisy on this matter, enjoining, “Hey, Wall Street Journal, please explain your credibility in publishing an opinion by the Ohio governor who expanded liar-nObamaCare in his state.”
The biggest irony of all? If we are going to get our fiscal house in order, Republicans truly need budgetary and constitutional stalwarts, not drifters who check to see which way the political winds are blowing before making critical decisions. Gov. Kasich is symbolic of the latter, his faux conservative bromides on health care notwithstanding. If only he knew how to follow his own advice.

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ The coverage here during the last few days of the Tommy Robinson affair in Britain appears to be having at least a small impact in certain circles in Merrie Olde England... Dispatches have come in from some of the tonier addresses in the UK explaining, in that marvelous tone of condescension which no one from beyond the shores of England can ever quite pull off, that those of us who sympathize with Robinson have got it all wrong; that we simply do not grasp the exquisite nuances of British jurisprudence, specifically the kingdom's laws about the coverage of trials – for if we did understand, we would recognize that Robinson's summary arrest and imprisonment did not represent an outrageous denial of his freedom of speech, his right to due process, and his right to an attorney of his own choosing, but were, in fact, thoroughly appropriate actions intended to ensure the integrity of the trial he was covering. Those of us outside the UK who think that British freedom has been compromised and that the British system of law has been cynically exploited for ignoble purposes are, apparently, entirely mistaken; on the contrary, we are instructed, Britain's police are continuing to conduct themselves in a responsible matter, Britain's courts are still models of probity, and Britain's real  journalists not clumsy, activist amateurs like Robinson persist in carrying out their role with extraordinary professionalism and propriety, obeying to the letter the eminently sensible rules that govern reportage about court cases in the land of Magna Carta. "It is true," acknowledged one correspondent, "that in previous years the UK police wrongly hesitated to prosecute Muslim grooming gangs. And it was a shocking scandal, which the Daily Mail did much to expose and excoriate. But that has changed."...   https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12428/british-justice-poppycock

{ dailysignal.com } ~ With consumer confidence at a 17-year high and economic prospects looking relatively strong... congressional Democrats have taken to grousing about the gas pump as a midterm strategy. “These higher oil prices are translating directly to soaring gas prices,” declared Senate Minority Leader Chuck clown-Schumer, “something we know disproportionately hurts middle- and lower-income people.” If this is true, then why have Democrats spent the past two decades advocating policies that artificially spike fossil fuel prices? If higher energy costs hurt Americans—and thank you, senator, for conceding this point—why have liberals favored increasing gas taxes, inhibiting exploration for fossil fuels including a ban on fracking for less environmentally damaging gas in a number of places, and capping imports? If higher gas prices disproportionately impact the working class and poor, then why do Democrats push for national schemes designed to create false demand through a fabricated marketplace?...

{ breitbart.com } ~ A new report says the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s office recently interviewed fired FBI Director James Comey... in what is being described as “an indication the office is seriously considering” whether former bureau Deputy Andrew McCabe should face criminal charges. Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz accused McCabe in April of misleading investigators  and Comey four times — three of them under oath — about authorizing a disclosure to the media. Horowitz referred the findings to the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office to determine whether criminal charges are warranted. Lying to federal investigators can carry a five-year prison sentence, though McCabe disputes that he intentionally misled anyone. Comey’s interview, while significant, does not indicate prosecutors have reached any conclusions, and people familiar with the process said it is not surprising given the allegations McCabe faces. A referral from the inspector general does not guarantee charges will be filed...My-o-my, Comey also lied.

by Political Editors:  The Washington Post ran an article on Thursday titled “Poor people die younger in the U.S. That skews American politics.” The article’s bold claim is based on a study published in Social Science & Medicine, which theorizes that poor people or “have-nots” essentially have less of an impact on the nation’s political landscape because they suffer from a higher premature death rate than do the non-poor or the “haves.”

The Post notes that recent U.S. Census Bureau reports indicate there are currently 40 million people living in poverty in America. (Poor is a relative term, of course.) The article then sneaks in this statement: “Put that together with the fact that in the U.S., about 2.6 million people die every year — and most of those deaths are associated with poverty.” Whoa. How exactly are most of those deaths “associated” with poverty? The article never tells us. So what we have here is little more than journalistic sleight-of-hand — a key claim with no support for its validity.
The authors of the study — an assistant professor of political science and a doctoral student — clearly have an agenda: promoting socialism. You see, the poor in America are dying because there aren’t enough government programs, such as universal health care, to help them live longer, more politically active lives. Worse yet, the political clout that’s necessary to enact and implement these programs would exist if only the have-nots were living long enough to vote for them. (Somewhere here, there’s a bad joke about dead people and Democrat votes.)
This, of course, is the kind of agenda-driven research that gives the social sciences such a bad name. It’s reminiscent of the line from the movie “Anchorman”: “They’ve done studies you know. 60% of the time, it works every time.”
One of the biggest problems with the researchers’ assertion is the leftist idea of social economic stagnation — the idea that the poor remain poor while the rich remain rich. In fact, people move out of poverty regularly, and economic stagnation has been the exception rather than the rule throughout U.S. history and especially since World War II.
So to suggest that the poor will always be poor and will therefore require ever more government provision is false. Further, how in the world can the researchers be certain how these dead people would’ve voted had they only lived? It seems a stretch to assume that those “poor people” who “die younger” were destined to spend their golden years on the socialist bandwagon.
Just for a bit of humor, here’s that previously referenced line from “Anchorman”:   ~The Patriot Post

Lies Don't Match Timeline, Involved from Beginniing
{ rickwells.us } ~ Sean Hannity begins preceded his interview with John Solomon by telling his viewers that Dr. Jerome Corsi stated... in his new book that the deep state was coming after Hannity as their next prime target. He asked Solomon if he thinks it’s true, replying that he has no information but that a similar thing did happen to him just about ten years ago, with a public apology made to by the FBI for intercepting his mail after he reported on what the FBI knew prior to 9/11. Solomon seems to not believe that the DOJ is in league with the liar-nObama White House, claiming that Strzok, Page and others at DOJ were afraid “that this was about to be politically hijacked, either by the CIA, the Justice Department Aholes, as Strzok referred to them in his text to Page, or the White House run by Hussein liar-nObama.” In the article referenced in the interview, Solomon wrote, “Kevin Brock agrees that Congress has legitimate questions. The retired FBI assistant director for intelligence supervised the rewriting of bureau rules governing sources, under then-director Robert Mueller a decade ago. Those rules forbid the FBI from directing a human source to target an American until a formally predicated investigative file is opened...

{ tmz.com } ~ "Roseanne" may be on the verge of rising from the dead with a second reboot... but this time centered around Sara Gilbert's character ... TMZ has learned. Sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ ... the powers that be at ABC are exploring the possibility of re-branding the show and focusing on the character Darlene instead of  Roseanne. We're told Sara's been calling cast members to gauge their interest in the event ABC gives the reboot the green light. We're told John Goodman is "very interested."...Whats a reboot without Roseanne.   http://www.tmz.com/2018/06/01/abc-talking-roseanne-reboot-centered-sara-gilbert-character/

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ Italy's rival anti-establishment parties — the populist Five Star Movement (M5S) and the nationalist League (Lega)... have formed a "eurosceptic" coalition government. The new government has pledged to pursue a host of populist policies, including reclaiming national sovereignty from the European Union over issues ranging from border protection and immigration to economics and finance. For now, however, it has abandoned previous plans to hold a referendum on whether Italy should abandon the euro. The viability of a M5S/Lega government initially was thrown into doubt after Italian President Sergio Mattarella vetoed their eurosceptic choice for finance minister: Paolo Savona, an 81-year-old former industry minister who has called Italy's entry into the euro a "historic mistake."...   https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12427/populist-government-takes-power-in-italy

More recently, the Shah of Iran and Israel planned a pipeline from Eilat on the Red Sea to Ashdod on the Mediterranean to supply Iranian oil to Israel and bypass the Suez Canal. Things have changed, and in dealing with the hostile regime in Tehran, Israel's aim has been twofold: to interdict weapons transfers to Hezb'allah and to keep Iranian ground forces away from its northern border. Several weeks ago, DEBKA, a military intelligence website based in Jerusalem, reported on an aircraft strike on 50 Iranian military installations in Syria. All this was accomplished in less than two hours. If true, this represents an important achievement in military intelligence and in operational planning and coordination...

Face Recognition Is Now Being Used in Schools,

{ theintercept.com } ~ Officials at the Lockport, New York, school district have purchased face recognition technology... as part of a purported effort to prevent school shootings. Starting in September, all 10 of Lockport District’s school buildings, just north of Buffalo, will be outfitted with a surveillance system that can identify faces and objects. The software, known as Aegis, was developed by SN Technologies Corp., a Canadian biometrics firm that specifically advertises to schools. It can be used to alert officials to whenever sex offenders, suspended students, fired employees, suspected gang members, or anyone else placed on a school’s “blacklist” enters the premises. Aegis also sends alerts any time one of the “top 10” most popular guns used in school shootings appears in view of a camera. The district is spending most of its recent $4 million state “Smart School” grant on these and other enhancements to its security systems, including bullet-proof greeter windows and a mass notification system, according to the Niagra Gazette. “We always have to be on our guard. We can’t let our guard down,” Lockport Superintendent Michelle T. Bradley told the Buffalo News. “For the Board of Education and the Lockport City School District, this is the No. 1 priority: school security.”...   https://theintercept.com/2018/05/30/face-recognition-schools-school-shootings/?utm_source=The+Intercept+Newsletter&utm_campaign=c4c50a9df5-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_06_02&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e00a5122d3-c4c50a9df5-131896129

by Brian Mark Weber:  The prison population in the United States is exploding.

But this burgeoning population isn’t merely the result of cleaning our streets of violent offenders; it’s also due to overzealous prosecutors eager to tout their toughness in America’s war on crime.
Consequently, the United States has 5% of the world’s population and 25% of its incarcerated people, according to National Review’s Conrad Black. “The American conviction rate of nearly 99 percent, 97 percent without a trial,” says Black, is the result of a plea-bargain system that places the U.S. “in criminal-justice matters from the category of its socioeconomic and democratic peer countries and places it, in matters of criminal procedure and conviction rates, disgracefully among the totalitarian states.”
Plea-bargaining is one of the primary reasons why the prison population has risen so dramatically in recent decades. The process gives prosecutors “broad, opaque powers” according to Dylan Walsh at The Atlantic.
Walsh adds, “Judges are not regularly allowed to take part when a plea deal is made, and written records of a deal are almost never required. Though jury trials demand proof of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, pleas follow no standards of evidence or proof; the prosecutor offers a break in exchange for a guilty plea, the defendant decides whether to take it without knowing the merits of his case.”
Even hard-line conservatives who typically favor tougher sentencing should be concerned about the ease with which Americans are being incarcerated, especially non-violent offenders and the drug-addicted.
But what’s being done on the political front to address the issue?
Until recently, not a lot. Proposals that call for tougher sentencing or building more prisons often fail to consider the vast majority of incarcerated individuals who will one day return to society.
What’s interesting is that a leading voice for prison reform is our tough-talking president, Donald Trump, who just last week hosted a prison reform summit at the White House. (The president’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, has also taken up the issue because his father spent a year in federal prison.)
And it looks like the proposal is picking up steam. This week, the House passed the First Step Act by a vote of 360-59. Some of its features include providing training programs for ex-inmates to reduce recidivism, allowing inmates to build “good time” credit each year, banning the shackling of pregnant inmates, allowing for the release of terminally ill patients, and requiring prisoners to be placed in facilities within a reasonable distance of their families.
“I will sign it,” said President Trump, “and it’s going to be strong, it’s going to be good, it’s going to be what everybody wants.”
The bill’s supporters are hoping that the president can use the bully pulpit to push hesitant Republican senators to take up the measure, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is at the moment reluctant due to deep divisions among party members.
Meanwhile, criminal justice advocacy groups such as Families Against Mandatory Minimums, the U.S. Justice Action Network, the Equal Justice Initiative, Koch Industries, and the American Civil Liberties Union are divided over the First Step Act for reasons ranging from potentially discriminatory practices to the lack of halfway houses for inmates to make the transition back into their communities.
Highlighting the division over prison reform, Reason’s C.J. Ciaramella writes, “Democrats are split on it, old-school conservatives are drumming up opposition from law enforcement groups, and progressive advocacy groups are attacking it from the left. Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Republican pointman on criminal justice reform, says the bill is dead in the water unless it includes major reforms to federal sentencing law as well.
To his credit, Grassley has successfully recruited 13 Republicans to join the bipartisan effort. Yet despite the promising efforts of House members on Capitol Hill, the future of the bill doesn’t look promising. And that’s unacceptable.
Politicians have long ignored this complex issue, often seeking a quick fix to appease their own interest groups. And while Republicans need to realize that aggressive sentencing is not appropriate in all situations, or good for society in the long-term, Democrats need to stop looking at ex-cons merely as potential voters (yes, then-Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe did unilaterally restore voting rights to 200,000 felons before the 2016 presidential election).
Of course, the most serious offenders should receive harsh sentences and should be locked up long-term. But those who’ll eventually leave prison to again become our co-workers and neighbors need a system that prepares them for life as productive citizens in a free society rather than creating a revolving door of convicts. Our society will be safer for it, and we can spend less money on incarceration.
Reforming the plea bargain process, revisiting mandatory sentencing laws, and even admitting that the Drug War has failed are all steps in the right direction.
In the end, this isn’t about getting soft on crime, but recognizing the flaws in the current system. With millions of prisoners and tens of millions of felons, Republicans and Democrats need to find common ground and do what’s right. President Trump is moving the country toward a broader conversation about prison reform, and the First Step Act is truly a step in the right direction.

Trump Baits Clueless Left
Into Spreading His Historic Job Numbers as 'Scandal'
{ rickwells.us } ~ President Trump must have thought to himself that the jobs numbers are really good for the month of May... but been frustrated how the only thing the media wants to report about are made up scandals by his administration, as part of their incessant efforts to diminish his standing and ultimately remove him from power. There probably wasn’t an actual lightning bolt that accompanied the idea as it came from him “out of the blue,” but it’s brilliant and effective. The one piece of bait that the leftists can’t resist is an opportunity to be part of the swarm attacking Trump, desperate to have played a role in the final demise of their archenemy and to pretend that they are intellectually superior in the process. Trump appears to have determined that the most effective way to draw attention to the jobs numbers is to wrap them in a fake scandal, the irresistible possibility of him having leaked out classified information, without saying anything. He used their imaginations and “logic” to his advantage and effectively twisted  the entire libtard propaganda machinery into a Trump advertising agency...   https://rickwells.us/trump-baits-job-scandal/

{ spectator.org } ~ I'd be careful about reporting that liar-nObama said there was no wiretapping,” Jon Favreau... one of liar-nObama’s speechwriters, tweeted out in 2017. Members of the media, loath to let anything complicate their anti-Trump propaganda, chided him for this unhelpful slip and he quickly withdrew it, saying that he deferred to James Clapper’s denial of any wiretaps. But Favreau had already given himself away. In retrospect, the tweet is even more telling and confirms that knowledge of the spying was widespread at liar-nObama’s White House. If a White House speechwriter far from the action knew about warrants on Carter Page, Paul Manafort, and Michael Flynn, who didn’t? From the beginning of this farce, the liar-nObama administration has shifted back and forth between taking pride in the spying and denying its existence. We are back in the denial phase. But at the height of the hysteria after Trump’s election and inauguration, members of the liar-nObama administration wanted everyone to know they had been spying on Trump and feared that he would destroy their “intelligence.” They leaked to the New York Times in March 2017 that they had “scrambled” to preserve the supposed damning results of their spying, in order to leave a “clear trail of intelligence for government investigators.” By “intelligence,” they meant their own feverishly partisan sifting through negligible, half-cocked leads. Had there been any substance to their “intelligence,” they would have leaked it out. Having failed, they still thought they deserved an A for effort. They also saw the future political benefits of sliming Trump with innuendo, striking a posture that can be summed up as: Trust us, you guys, what we have found is really bad, but we can’t tell you yet. They couldn’t tell us because they had nothing to tell, but they needed to leave the impression of yet-to-be-disclosed dirt in order to trigger the Mueller investigation, and thanks to the recusal of Jeff Sessions they pulled it off...

It’s an initiative by the same globalist powers who joined with liar-nObama and the UN to sign America up, absent ratification of the climate treaty by the Senate as the Constitution requires, for the financial siphons of the anti-sovereignty, freedom killing, global UN government to first be inserted under the Paris accord. They are attempting to force them to be reinserted, with the scab just barely off before the wounds completely heal over. Pope Francis didn’t just wake up one day, kick the covers off and tell one of his male companions that he’d decided to meet up with some of his other friends and they all just happen to be liar-nObama people, investment fund representatives and globalist oil company executives...What the heck, what is the Pope doing in politics?   https://rickwells.us/pope-obama-oil-vatican-plot/

A Right To Try — But for How Many? And For How Long?
by MICHAEL F. CANNON

{ cato.org } ~ President Trump has signed legislation restoring the right of some terminally ill patients to determine the course of their medical treatment... This “right to try” law builds on legislation enacted by dozens of states. The federal right-to-try law is an important victory for patients and individual liberty. But I worry these gains will not last. Here’s why. Patients have a fundamental human right to choose their course of medical treatment. But how are patients to know which treatments work and which are just snake oil? The U.S. Congress attempts to solve this problem by empowering the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to block drugs from the market until the manufacturers demonstrate, to the FDA’s satisfaction, that the drug is safe and effective for its intended use. At a glance, this seems a reasonable approach to keeping patients safe. In practice, it has been a disaster. There are lots of problems with this model of certifying drug safety and efficacy. First, it routinely violates the fundamental human right of all patients to choose the course of their medical treatment. If the FDA blocks the drug you want from the market, or requires so much testing that you cannot afford it, or erects such high regulatory barriers that no one develops the drug you need, the government has violated your fundamental human right to choose your medical treatment...   https://www.cato.org/blog/right-try?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTjJWbFpqbGpNekkxT0dFMCIsInQiOiJ0TzZOeGNvd3BkM1FDRWtZZHhTN3NjVGlCZkNMS3h5YzBSSHpoN1VqbVJBOVBBY2pWRExLa0dNZDd5SU9TeHhXUDNFczBaU0FcL1hvR2FQbCtZQmU0UHN5RzFRZjVTY1pGN0ZTQmRhSmp3VVNOaW1vSUxBaEZ5enA4SnVVZVpjYlUifQ%3D%3D

Google Says Republicans Are Socialists

by Thomas Gallatin:  Less than a week before the California primaries, Google search lists the state’s Republican Party ideology as “Nazism.” Vice News reports, “In the ‘knowledge panel’ that provides easy access to information next to search results, Google was showing ‘Nazism’ as an ‘ideology’ of the party as of Thursday morning. The word ‘Nazism’ was hyperlinked to a secondary page that shows ‘Nazism’ alongside other ‘ideologies’ of California Republicans like ‘Conservatism,’ ‘Market liberalism,’ ‘Fiscal conservatism,’ and ‘Green conservatism.’”

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) blasted Google: “It is disgraceful that the world’s largest search engine has labeled millions of California Republicans as Nazis. This is just the latest incident in a disturbing trend to slander conservatives. These damaging actions must be held to account. The bias has to stop.” McCarthy is correct. The most recent example was Google’s silencing of pro-life ads before the Irish referendum on whether to legalize abortion. But don’t forget the tech giant’s firingof software engineer James Damore last year for his daring to question the company’s leftist dogma, or its use of the hate-mongering Southern Poverty Law Center to police YouTube.
Google responded with a “dog ate my homework” excuse, blaming the “mistake” on Wikipedia vandalism. In other words, “Oops, but it really wasn’t our fault. Can we move along now?
But aside from Google’s convenient mistake, what may be more frustrating is the regular misrepresentation, even among conservatives, of Nazism as a far-right political movement. The fact is both Nazism and communism are extreme expressions that come out of the same leftist ideological camp of socialism. Both produce totalitarian forms of government that preach the “needs” of the collective over and against individual rights and Liberty. The primary difference between the two totalitarian ideologies is that of race-based nationalism versus collectivist globalism. The term “NAZI” itself was the German acronym for National Socialist German Workers’ Party.
By contrast, conservatism champions the protection of the rights and freedoms of the individual against the encroachment of the collective. Yet the Leftmedia has takenPresident Donald Trump’s populist message of America First (nationalism) and falsely linked it with racism in an effort to imply that Trump and all Republicans are fascist Nazis. Nothing could be further from reality, but in the age of identity politics, emotions rather than facts are what sell.   ~The Patriot Pos

Fein-stein 'No Separation' Bill Makkes
Illegal Alien Kids Hman Shields From ICE
{ rickwells.us } ~ No immigration laws are safe from the scheming open border globalist Democrats, as Sen. Dianne Fein-stein (D-CA) makes clear in her latest campaign stunt... Fein-stein joins with fellow California America-hater Kamala “Commiela” Harris (D-CA) in blaming America and our border enforcement agents for the consequences of illegals bringing their children as human immigration shields and as refugee passes into the country.  Fein-stein announced plans to introduce a bill that would prohibit the separation of illegal invader children from their parents, a practice that is good enough for American prisoners, but too draconian for their coddled foreigners attempting to squat on our soil. The practice of separating the children allows for incarceration of their border crashing parents, since the children cannot be incarcerated with the foreign adults who brought them. Rather than assigning the blame where it belongs, as the Trump administration is attempting to do through the prosecutions, Fein-stein wants to blame the President and DHS for the family separations that occur as the result of their criminal activities...It was and still is the liar-nObama policy. Its also a law.

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ The Danish Parliament has passed a ban on Islamic full-face veils in public spaces... The new law, sponsored by Denmark's center-right government, and backed by the Social Democrats and the Danish People's Party, was passed on May 31 by 75 votes to 30. As of August 1, anyone found wearing a burka which covers the entire face or a niqab which covers the entire face except for the eyes in public in Denmark will be subject to a fine of 1,000 Danish kroner (€135; $157); repeat offenders could be fined 10,000 Danish kroner. In addition, anyone found to be requiring a person through force or threats to wear garments that cover the face could be fined or face up to two years in prison...
Yes, the FBI Was Investigating the Trump Campaign When It Spied

{ nationalreview.com } ~ Well, well, well. The bipartisan Beltway establishment has apparently had its fill of this “Trump colluded with Russia” narrative... the same narrative the same establishment has lustily peddled for nearly two years. The liar-nObama administration recklessly chose to deploy the government’s awesome counterintelligence powers to investigate — and, more to the point, to smear — its political opposition as a Kremlin confederate. Now that this ploy has blown up on the Justice Department and the FBI, these agencies — the ones that went out of their way, and outside their guidelines, to announce to the world that the Trump campaign was under investigation — want you to know the president and his campaign were not investigated at all, no siree. And so, to douse the controversy with cold water, dutifully stepping forward in fine bipartisan fettle are the liar-nObama administration’s top intelligence official and two influential Capitol Hill Republicans who evidently pay little attention to major testimony before their own committees. Former National Intelligence director James Clapper was first to the scene of the blaze. Clapper concedes that, well, yes, the FBI did run an informant — “spy” is such an icky word — at Trump campaign officials; but you must understand that this was merely to investigate Russia. Cross his heart, it had nothing to do with the Trump campaign. No, no, no. Indeed, they only used an informant because — bet you didn’t know this — doing so is the most benign, least intrusive mode of conducting an investigation...Gowdy and Rubio must go.

Western Nationals in Turkish Prisons

{ defenddemocracy.org } ~ At least two American citizens are currently sitting in Turkish prisons, where they have been held for the last two years... One is Andrew Brunson, a pastor from North Carolina who ministered to a small Protestant congregation in Turkey for over 20 years until his arrest by the authorities in the fall of 2016. The other is Serkan Golge, a Turkish-American physicist who worked for NASA’s Mars program until the Turkish police picked him up while on vacation in Turkey, also in 2016. Both men stand accused of plotting or partaking in a failed coup attempt that transpired that July against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has ruled the country for 15 years – increasingly with an iron fist. Turkish prosecutors charged both U.S. citizens with “membership in a terrorist organization.” Golge received a seven-and-a-half-year prison sentence in February 2018 for his involvement with the Fethullahist Terrorist Organization (FETO), a group Turkey designated and accused of planning the July 2016 putsch. The term “FETO” was first used in 2015 to refer to the followers of U.S.-based Turkish cleric Fethullah Gulen, Erdogan’s closest political ally between 2002 and 2013, who later turned into his sworn enemy following the Gulen network’s role in exposing and publicizing the massive corruption scandal that threatened Erdogan’s government in December 2013. Prosecutors have charged Brunson not only with membership in FETO, but also in a group that is one of Gulen’s archrivals, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), a Marxist Kurdish insurgency group seeking self-rule in Turkey. Ankara sees both groups as top national security threats, and has repeatedly branded and jailed dissidents across the political spectrum by accusing them of membership in these organizations. The two Americans are among some 100,000 people detained in Turkey after Erdogan declared a “state of emergency” following the failed coup...

{ defenddemocracy.org } ~ Bernard Lewis, the incomparable scholar of the Middle East and Islam, died last week... I cannot claim to have known Professor Lewis well, but one didn’t need to spend much time in his presence to recognize how extraordinary he was. So rather than mourn, I intend to continue learning from him – from his life, literature and legacy. I also plan to raise a glass to him on May 31st: his 102nd birthday. First, let me tell you how I managed to make his acquaintance. We were both panelists on a National Review cruise along the western coast of Mexico. I knew who he was and was eager to engage him in conversation. He had no clue who I was and evinced no particular interest. Then, early one evening, I sidled up to the bar. Other than the bartender, there seemed to be no one about. I glanced derisively at a bottle of blended scotch. Several shelves above it, behind a glass door, I saw a bottle of 18-year-old single malt...

Roseanne, Trump and the Myth
of Conservatives' Racism

by David Limbaugh
{ townhall.com } ~ Roseanne Barr posted what many are convinced was a racist tweet, and ABC summarily canceled her sitcom. As Roseanne is considered a Donald Trump supporter and Trump is widely accused of racism, people are loosely smearing Trump as responsible for her, however indirectly.

Maybe I'm defensive about loose charges of racism, but if so, I've acquired my defensiveness honestly, because racism has become the left's favorite categorical smear of conservatives and Republicans. It's not something I'm imagining. I've written about it many times, basing it on my observations of leftists and Democrats in action.

I don't believe that Democrats are racists, but I do believe they cynically exploit racial smears against Republicans as part of their strategy to retain a disproportionate percentage of African-American and other minority voters, without which they would be reduced to a permanent minority party. Considering the closeness of so many national elections, can you imagine the electoral impact of even a small percentage of African-American voters leaving the Democratic Party and voting Republican? Trust me, Democratic apparatchiks believe it -- and act accordingly. Their fear leads to such baseless, disgraceful claims as the one about how George W. Bush purposely left blacks stranded on rooftops in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina because they were black and Republicans don't care about blacks.

It has always particularly frosted me that conservative policies are associated with racism even though our policies, historically, expand opportunity and prosperity for African-Americans and other minorities. Indeed, we aspire to colorblindness rather than the individually degrading identity politics habitually practiced by Democrats. We've recently learned, for example, that African-American and Hispanic unemployment numbers are at historical lows. You would think that after a while, word would get out that Republican actions speak louder than Democratic words and there would be a mass conversion of minorities from the Democratic Party to the GOP. Frankly, I'm surprised it hasn't happened already, not just because of the serial failure of Democratic policies and the success of Republican ones but because of the drippingly patronizing attitude Democratic politicians have toward minorities. Why aren't minorities offended by their being used so conspicuously? My guess is that many don't have much faith in Democrats but they've been convinced that Republicans and conservatives truly are racist.

Think about how outrageous my statement is -- especially if it is true. But I can't imagine a better explanation for African-Americans consistently voting in the 90 percent range for Democrats. The Democrats' slander, by the way, doesn't just hurt the Republican Party and, by extension, the nation; it also hurts African-Americans and other minorities who believe the lie that roughly half the nation Republicans is somehow against them. How can it be healthy for minorities to believe such a lie? How could it possibly lead to improved race relations? Democrats constantly preach about diversity and racial harmony, but they do more damage with their vilification than with their destructive policies, and that's saying something.

Now back to the alleged connection between Roseanne Barr and Donald Trump. Democrats and Republican never-Trumpers are tweeting and writing that Roseanne's disgraceful Twitter outburst should be expected in the Trump era because Trump has ushered in an era of racism -- soft or hard, racism nevertheless. Plus, Roseanne is a Trump supporter, so her negatives must attach to him.

I think it's a major stretch to call Roseanne a conservative. She clearly is not a social conservative, and I doubt she's much of a conservative otherwise, but let's just assume, for discussion purposes, that she is a Trump-supporting Republican.

How about the claim that Trump is a racist or has created a climate conducive to racism? Well, the accusers have their talking points, and they can tick them off with the discipline of an A student on exam day, but instead of relitigating those specific statements or actions, such as Trump's challenging Barack liar-nObama's birth certificate or calling MS-13 gang members "animals", I'll tell you what I think is at the root of the smear. Trump is now a Republican, and thus he is fair game to be cast as a racist for the reasons already stated. But a bigger point is that Trump's signature policy is immigration enforcement. The left -- and an increasing number of open-borders advocates on the right -- associates that policy with nativism, which is a euphemism for racism, and with outright racism. In addition, many believe that Trump is an alt-right white supremacist or, at the very least, encourages the support of this group through his policies and language.

I don't believe that Trump is a racist. I reject that his policies, including his immigration policies, are racist, and I don't believe there is a strong alt-right movement in this nation. Call me naive.

The charge is utterly predictable from leftists, but it is regrettable that people on the right are willing to so carelessly malign Trump as a racist and then blame him for the racially charged climate in this country. I suppose it fits the Trump opponents' narrative that Trump is the worst human being alive, someone with no redeeming character qualities, but it is lazy and reckless.

Attempts to blame Trump for Roseanne Barr's ugly statements are the same kind of categorical slur that makes racism a sin. Attempts to denigrate Trump supporters by extension are even more objectionable, and as you can tell, I'm using mild, nonincendiary language here that understates my indignation on this issue.

But as racism is probably the worst sin with which to be branded, people ought to be especially careful not to make such claims lightly. Shame on them for trying to shame the rest of us, for we abhor real racism every bit as much as they do -- probably way more, but as I say, my purpose here is not to inflame.

Fitton - liar-nObama, Gowdy, Mueller,
scum-Soros and Dems Team Up for Shadow Govt
{ rickwells.us } ~ Lou Dobbs begins the segment with Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch... by revealing that Hussein liar-nObama has been operating against President Trump on a more deliberate, Logan Act violating international basis, ever since he defeated both liar-nObama and liar-Clinton in the 2016 election. Dobbs notes that the liar-nObama efforts to formulate and operate a shadow government have been exposed by one of liar-nObama’s own cronies, his official fairy tale fabricator, creative writer Ben Rhodes. In a new book Rhodes reveals the liar-nObama efforts with Canadian Prime Minister and bromance partner Justin Trudeau and other international leaders in the wake of the globalist Democrat defeat. Dobbs explains that liar-nObama urged those leaders “to fight against President Trump and to defend the values that they share” and asks Tom Fitton, “Is that not illegal?”..Gowdy must go.   https://rickwells.us/obama-gowdy-shadow-govt/#prettyPhoto

{ aei.org } ~ Historically, every peace negotiation between American diplomats with hostile dictators... was premised on the idea that the adversary had made a decision to change course. The good thing is that often they have. Think, for example, of Anwar Sadat’s rejection of his quasi-alliance with the Soviets to join the Western camp and make peace with Israel; or Deng Xiaoping’s “reform and opening up,” including his rejection of Maoism, that ignited China’s stunning three decades of growth. There is, however, no indication that North Korea’s Kim Jong-un is following these models. Without a real change from Kim, there is no hope for peace with North Korea, no possibility of complete and verifiable irreversible dismantlement (CVID) of Kim’s weapons of mass destruction, and little genuine interest in opening up to America’s economy. Kim cannot follow Sadat or Deng’s path without having come to the conclusion that his North Korean regime is at a strategic dead-end. Deng took a sober look at the ravages caused by Mao Tse-tung versus the economic advancement of China’s regional neighbors. He contemplated the threat of a hostile Soviet Union, and calculated he needed protection from Washington. Given these circumstances, U.S. negotiators were convinced that Deng would make a strategic change, and they were right. He opened the door to what could arguably be labeled one of the greatest transformations of the twentieth century...

Trump Imposes New Human Rights Sanctions on Iran
by Tzvi Kahn

{ defenddemocracy.org } ~ The U.S. Treasury Department on Wednesday imposed sanctions on six individuals and three entities responsible for major human rights abuses against the Iranian people... The designations reflect a reinvigorated U.S. effort to pressure Tehran for its domestic repression following Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s May 21 address articulating a new Iran strategy. The sanctions, which come as nationwide protests continue to consume Iran, target key nodes of the regime’s police state. First, Washington sanctioned Ansar-e Hezbollah and three of its top leaders, Abdolhamid Mohtasham, Hossein Allahkaram, and Hamid Ostad. The group serves as a nominally independent group that acts on the regime’s behalf to preserve its rule and administer some of its draconian religious edicts. In conjunction with Iranian forces, Ansar-e Hezbollah attacked protestors during the nationwide demonstrations of 2009 and the student riots of 1999. It has sought to ensure that Iranian women wear the mandatory hijab, or headscarf, in public by patrolling the streets and throwing acid at their faces, routinely blinding and disfiguring them....

by Mark Alexander:  Among the many resources we use to complement our analysis of news, policy and opinion is National Review, founded by William F. Buckley in 1955. NR has always been the intellectual standard for the conservative movement, though its editors sometimes get it wrong, as in the case of the candidacy of Donald Trump.

As with many “old guard” conservative publications, NR was befuddled both by Trump’s appeal and his ultimate election on November 8, 2016, and its editors still demonstrate some confusion about Trump’s populist support. That perplexity is rooted in the fact that many conservative intellectuals, most of whom reside inside the DC Beltway or in other equally high-brow protectorates like New York City, are disconnected from both the grassroots American Patriots who elected Donald Trump and those who didn’t initially support Trump but have since boarded the Trump Train to Make American Great Again.
Its grassroots disconnect notwithstanding, National Review still has, in my considered opinion, the best stable of political writers on the planet, far superior to those at The AtlanticThe New Republic and the rest of the Leftmedia propaganda machine.
There are a few NR writers whom I follow closely. One of those is Andrew McCarthy, a former assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. A few of his more notable prosecutions include the 1995 conviction of Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman and 11 others responsible for the 1993 World Trade Center bombing (and who planned additional attacks against other New York City landmarks). McCarthy was also key to the prosecutions of the terrorists who bombed our U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
For the last 15 years, McCarthy has been a senior fellow at the National Review Institute.
He’s also my go-to guy for legal insights and analysis on the collusion to entrap Trump by Barack liar-nObama’s CIA director, John Brennan; liar-nObama’s FBI director, James Comey(and his high-ranking co-conspirators); and their candidate,  liar-Hillary Clinton, and her corrupt campaign. This cadre of liar-nObama’s deep-state operatives has endeavored to frame Mr. Trump for “colluding with Russia” to throw the 2016 election, or to at least create the false impression that his election was illegitimate.
The fate of that investigation, and possibly Trump’s presidency, has, for a year, been in the hands of Comey’s FBI predecessor, special prosecutor Robert Mueller, and his team of “hard-core Democrats.”
The integrity of Mueller’s evidence was undermined again last week with revelations that the liar-nObama administration, ostensibly to protect Trump’s candidacy from Russian meddling, planted at least one “spy” within his campaign. In fact, this was just the latest chapter of the liar-nObama/liar-Clinton Trump/Putin collusion charade to be exposed.
I profiled that last week in my column, “From ‘Crossfire Hurricane’ to ‘Backfire Tornado’.”
This week, I’m providing you with some of Andy McCarthy’s more erudite observations about the investigation of Trump.
His analysis, “In Politicized Justice, Desperate Times Call for Disparate Measures,” focused on the Justice Department’s double standard in handling the liar-Clinton email subterfuge and Trump/Russia investigations:
The 2016 presidential election, we’re to believe, was stolen from liar-Hillary Clinton by disparate treatment. As Democrats tell it, the FBI scandalized their candidate while protecting Donald Trump. You might think peddling that story with a straight face would be a major challenge. But they figure it may work because it was test-driven by the FBI’s then-director, James Comey, in his now infamous press conference on July 5, 2016 — back when the law-enforcement and intelligence apparatus on which we rely to read the security tea leaves was simply certain that Mrs. liar-Clinton would win.
If you or I had set up an unauthorized private communications system for official business for the patent purpose of defeating federal record-keeping and disclosure laws; if we had retained and transmitted thousands of classified emails on this non-secure system; if we had destroyed tens of thousands of government records; if we had carried out that destruction while those records were under subpoena; if we had lied to the FBI in our interview — well, we’d be writing this column from the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth. Yet, in a feat of dizzying ratiocination, Director Comey explained that to prosecute Mrs. liar-Clinton would be to hold her to a nitpicking, selective standard of justice not imposed on other Americans.
Regarding the fact that the Trump/Russia investigation did not originate with Carter Page or George Papadopoulos but with the liar-Obama administration, McCarthy notes:
With the revelation last week that the liar-nObama administration had insinuated a spy into the Trump campaign, it appeared that we were back to the original, Page-centric origination story. But now there was a twist: The informant, longtime CIA source Stefan Halper, was run at Page by the FBI, in Britain. Because this happened just days after Page’s Moscow trip, the implication was that it was the Moscow trip itself, not the dossier claims about it, that provided momentum toward opening the investigation. Then, just a couple of weeks later, WikiLeaks began publicizing the DNC emails; this, we’re to understand, shook loose the Australian information about Papadopoulos. When that information made its way to the FBI — how, we’re not told — the “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation was formally opened on July 31. Within days, Agent Peter Strzok was in London interviewing [Australian Ambassador Alexander] Downer, and soon the FBI tasked Halper to take a run at Papadopoulos.
I’m not buying it. The real origination story begins in the early spring of 2016 — long before Page went to Russia and long before the U.S. government was notified about Papadopoulos’s boozy conversation with Downer. … From the “late spring” on, every report of Trump-Russia ties, no matter how unlikely and uncorroborated, was presumed to be proof of a traitorous arrangement. And every detail that could be spun into Trump-campaign awareness of Russian hacking, no matter how tenuous, was viewed in the worst possible light.
McCarthy concludes that liar-nObama’s DOJ and its political hacks within the FBI merged the liar-Clinton email case with the Trump/Russia probe:
The mistake is often made — I’ve made it myself — of analyzing the tanking of the liar-Clinton emails case in a vacuum. There are, after all, reasons unrelated to Donald Trump that explain the outcome: liar-nObama was implicated in liar-Clinton’s use of a non-secure email system; liar-nObama had endorsed liar-Clinton; many high-ranking liar-nObama Justice Department officials stood to keep their coveted positions, and even advance, in a liar-Hillary Clinton administration; the liar-nObama Justice Department was hyper-political and liar-Clinton was the Democratic nominee.
But the liar-Clinton investigation did not happen in a vacuum. It happened in the context of Donald Trump’s gallop through the Republican primaries and, just as important, of the liar-nObama administration’s determination to regard the Trump campaign as a Kremlin satellite.
With the pressure to finish MYE [Mid-Year Exam, the FBI’s codename for the liar-Clinton email probe] in the rearview mirror, liar-Hillary Clinton looked like a shoo-in to beat Donald Trump. By mid September, [FBI lawyer and Peter Strzok paramour] Lisa Page was saying as much at a meeting in Deputy Director McCabe’s office. But Strzok was hedging his bets: Maybe “there’s no way [Trump] gets elected — but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40.”
Soon, as the campaign wound down, the FBI and the liar-nObama Justice Department were on the doormat of the FISA court, obtaining a surveillance warrant on Carter Page, substantially based on allegations in the Steele dossier — an uncorroborated liar-Clinton-campaign opposition-research screed. Meanwhile, the FBI/CIA spy was being run at George Papadopoulos, and even seeking a role in the Trump campaign from its co-chairman, Sam Clovis.
On the  liar-nObama administration’s effort to spy on the Trump campaign, and its absurd pretext for authorizing operation Crossfire Hurricane in order to bolster its effort to frame Trump for the fake collusion delusion, McCarthy observes:
The liar-nObama administration decided to use its counterintelligence powers to spy on the Trump campaign, using at least one covert informant, electronic monitoring of communications, and other intelligence-gathering tactics. It ignored the norm against deploying such tactics against political opponents, not based on evidence of a Trump-Russia criminal conspiracy, but on speculation about the Trump campaign’s Russia contacts and Russia sympathies. Speculation by a government, an administration, and a Democratic-party nominee with their own abysmal histories of Russia contacts and Russia sympathies.
He concludes: In the end, it is not about who the spies are. It is about why they were spying. In our democratic republic, there is an important norm against an incumbent administration’s use of government’s enormous intelligence-gathering capabilities to — if we may borrow a phrase — interfere in an election. To justify disregarding that norm would require strong evidence of egregious wrongdoing. Enough bobbing and weaving, and enough dueling tweets. Let’s see the evidence.
So, when will we see the evidence or more tangential diversionary charges?
Nelson Cunningham, a decidedly left-of-center former federal prosecutor also from New York who worked for  liar-Bill Clinton and the 2004 presidential campaign of hanoi-John Kerry, insists, “Mueller will want to avoid interfering with the November midterms, and so will try to conclude by July or August.
Recall that Rudy Giuliani, as Trump’s lawyer, recently predicted Mueller would release his findings by 01 September.
Cunningham believes “Mueller will not indict the president, but will issue a comprehensive and detailed report. … [Deputy Attorney General] Rod Rosenstein will decide to release the report to Congress and the public. … Rosenstein’s move to release the Mueller report will lead to his firing. … And this is when the Senate and the Congress might finally engage.”
Well, that’s precisely what I’d expect from a liar-Clintonista — and if that’s the team Mueller is pitching for, Cunningham just might be right.
Frankly, I am still holding out some hope that Mueller holds to a higher standard than that of James Comey, the latter being a case study of what happens to once-right-minded government administrators who don’t properly maintain their political immunity against Potomac swamp fever, transforming as through metamorphosis into bureaucratic political hacks.   ~The Patriot Pos

Trump Spy Operation - hanoi-Kerry, Entire Rigime Involved
{ rickwells.us } ~ Sean Hannity begins a wide-ranging segment by playing asking what happened to Trey Gowdy following his endorsement of the FBI spying on President Trump... He plays of clip from the Mark Levin radio show that made some key points, noting that Gowdy has determined there was nothing wrong with the FBI planting an informant agent provocateur inside the Trump campaign.  Except this guy, Stephan Halper, did more than inform, as Gowdy knows, to the point of creating a narrative and an illegitimate basis for an investigation that they would later exploit for political purposes. Levin closely paraphrases Gowdy as saying the FBI did exactly what they are supposed to do and the American people agree, because Gowdy says they agree and “nobody speaks for the American people like Trey Gowdy. “Levin asks, “Did they have an informant, aka spy, inside the DNC, or the Jill Stein, liar-Hillary Clinton or commie-Bernie Sanders campaigns?...Gowdy needs to get out, now.

Admits Double Standard vs Conservatives
{ rickwells.us } ~ Living in the butt-hurt over everything age has many exaggerated consequences... Comedians are some of the people most negatively impacted by the new snowflake standard that attempts to declare all of life to be a protected safe zone from everything. Mel Brooks would have probably been a plumber or maybe an aluminum siding salesman if he had been born forty years later. Classics such as Blazing Saddles, which pokes fun at everybody, including the stereotype of whites being racists, in a politically incorrect way, would never get made these days. The Producers, spoofing Adolph Hitler and the song To Be or Not To Be, with Brookes, a Jew, playing the role of Hitler, would simply never have happened. Who knows what we’re missing out on due to the offended-by-everything libtard hand-wringers in power. Nobody knows what we don’t know...   https://rickwells.us/cnn-baldwin-admits-double-standard/

Trump, the Lunch Pail Billionaire, has Driven the Left Mad
{ ipatriot.com } ~ It was August 1, 1988. Remember the date? It was the first day of Rush Limbaugh’s nationally syndicated radio talk show... The show took off like a rocket. No one had ever heard such things, particularly from the boring, deadpan, AM dial. And why did it become an instant an enduring success? First was the shock factor. People, me included, couldn’t believe what we were hearing. “Can you believe what that Limbaugh guy said on the radio,” was a common refrain. And second, and more importantly, Rush gave voice to what we were thinking. It’s just that simple. Finally there was a guy in the media who actually thought like us – believed what we did, and was not shy about expressing it. In a sea of liberalism from the left and measured politispeak from the right, Limbaugh was breath of fresh air...   https://ipatriot.com/trump-the-lunch-pail-billionaire-has-driven-the-left-mad/

"In the weeks after Mr. Trump's election," Baker reports, "Mr. liar-nObama went through multiple emotional stages," including flashes of "anger," "rare self-doubt," and taking "the long view." WaPo Hates Strong Conservative Women Like Diane Black

by Mark Alexander:  “Democracy Dies in Darkness” became The Washington Post’s motto after the once-reputable paper was downgraded to political tabloid status by its billionaire owner, Jeff Bezos, a charter member of the Trump Resistance League. Clearly, the standard of journalism that once graced WaPo’s pages has also died.

This week, the Post featured a mocking hit piece on Rep. Diane Black, a friend of The Patriot Post and leading Republican candidate for governor in our native Tennessee. Strong conservative women are among WaPo’s favorite targets and Diane is certainly in that category, having chaired the House Budget Committee, where she led the charge to pass Donald Trump’s signature tax reform bill. That legislation has charged up the economic growth trend since Trump’s election, as have many of his other achievements.
Speaking to a group of pastors about the “root causes” of violence in our culture, particularly among youth, Black proposed several issues that she believes are undermining social order. “Deterioration of the family” and violence in movies were two of her examples, both of which we’ve highlighted. But the Post targeted its scorn on her assertion that pornography is also to blame.
“Pornography [is] available on the shelf when you walk in the grocery store,” Black noted. And then there’s the Internet, available on ubiquitous handheld devices. She lamented, “All of this is available without parental guidance, and I think that is a big part of the root cause.”
Of course, the takeaway from her comments would be that pornography degrades human worth and value, which everyone in the room understood. It’s evident that such degradation is a plague on our society. Of course, the Post argues that “the science isn’t settled” on the impact of pornography — except among those with a shred of common sense.
According to WaPo, smart people know guns are the problem: “Studies analyzing mass shootings in the United States and contrasting this country with others demonstrate that the single most important variable is the high number of guns in the United States…” But as I have articulated, violence in America is a culture problem, not a “gun problem.” Clearly, that doesn’t fit with WaPo’s statist efforts to repeal the Second Amendment.
But what’s really at the core of the Post’s attack on Black? The future of the Democrat Party depends on its continued ability to dupe female voters, its most dependable constituency. Strong conservative women like Diane Black pose a serious threat to that Demo-dependency.   ~The Patriot Pos

{ lidblog.com } ~ Liberals are no longer destroying California bit-by-bit. They have sped their destruction up to a faster clip... and conservative actor James Woods just showed some proof of the frenetic pace. Usually, the left in California, especially the Hollywood elite, have succeeded in secluding themselves away from the troubles the average citizen faces every day, but Woods shows that even the liberal elites are starting to be forced to confront the troubles they have wrought with their foolhardy, self-destructive policies. Liberals have allowed the once great state of California to devolve into the worst dystopian mess in the nation though Illinois is desperately trying to beat the west coasters. But, now even the elites are finding their territory overrun with the homeless and illegals and conservative actor James Woods revealed a shocking video outside the famed studios of TV mogul Oprah Winfrey to show it...   https://lidblog.com/proof-california-being-destroyed/.

{ meforum.orgFrance } ~ shunned the inauguration ceremony of the United States Embassy in Jerusalem on May 14. So did most other European Union countries... with the remarkable exception of Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania. The Czechs, the Hungarians and the Romanians went so far as to block, on May 11, a newly drafted EU statement reiterating the Union’s condemnation of the American embassy transfer. The French and mainstream European stand runs against plain logic. They opine that such a transfer is still a violation of  "international law," inasmuch as it departs from an aggregative corpus of United Nations General Assembly and Security Council resolutions. In particular, Paris and Brussels point to Security Council Resolution 470, passed on August 20, 1980, which condemned the enactment by Israel’s parliament of a constitutionally binding law enshrining Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and called on the governments that had already established embassies in that city to withdraw them. Resolution 470 was largely based on the previous Security Council’s Resolution 252 of May 21, 1968, which in turn was based on the General Assembly’s Resolution 303 (IV) of December 9, 1949. Yet there is a definite argument against the French and European reliance on UN resolutions on Jerusalem: the fact that France superbly ignored other UN resolutions directed at her...   https://www.https://www.meforum.org/articles/2018/france-is-hypocritical-on-israel,-u-s-and-interna?utm_source=Middle+East+Forum&utm_campaign=fcce54a580-Gurfinkiel_CAMPAIGN_2018_05_29_02_05&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_086cfd423c-fcce54a580-33703665&goal=0_086cfd423c-fcce54a580-33703665/articles/2018/france-is-hypocritical-on-israel,-u-s-and-interna?utm_source=Middle+East+Forum&utm_campaign=fcce54a580-Gurfinkiel_CAMPAIGN_2018_05_29_02_05&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_086cfd423c-fcce54a580-33703665&goal=0_086cfd423c-fcce54a580-33703665

{ cnsnews.com } ~ On his nationally syndicated radio talk show Tuesda... host Mark Levin briefly discussed President Donald Trump and the Russia investigation, asking his audience, “What’s going on with Marco Rubio?” “Now how stupid is this?” Levin questioned later in his show. “We have a special counsel investigating the Trump family, Trump businesses, the Trump campaign, the Trump transition. We have no special counsel investigating anything related to the Russians and the DNC to the Russians and liar-Hilary and liar-Bill Clinton and all the rest of it. None. So, I don’t know what Marco Rubio’s problem is. He hasn’t seen anything, so I guess there’s nothing to see over there at the Senate Intelligence Committee.” Mark Levin’s comments stem from an interview between Marco Rubio and Martha Raddatz on ABC News This Week Sunday, wherein Marco Rubio suggested that there was “no evidence” that the FBI spied on the Trump campaign but that instead the focus was on “individuals with a history of links to Russia that were concerning.”...

Specifically, the London-based organization reported, Iran and Hezbollah are planning to withdraw forces from the Dara and Kuneitra areas near Israel's northern border. The report comes after Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced Monday that the Syrian army should be the only force on the southern border of the country. The Permanent Adolescence of the American Left
by Steve McCan

{ americanthinker.com } ~ Donald Trump's remarkable and unpredicted victory in 2016 unleashed perhaps the pinnacle of all unintended consequences... By their ongoing nonsensical reaction to the Trump victory, the American left has exposed and validated their irrationality, obliviousness, and immaturity. As an immigrant to the United States, and thus a sideline spectator of the panorama that is American society, and someone who has spent most of his adult life in the field of international finance, I have been fascinated by the characteristics of the American left as compared to its counterparts in the rest of the world – and why the vast majority of Americans, who are essentially conservative or moderate, not only tolerate, but acquiesce to the left's temper tantrums and manipulation of the culture. On the surface, there may appear to be similarities to the left in other nations; however, when it comes to the motivation and personality quirks, it is only the left in Britain that bears any resemblance to the American left. In fact, the American version consistently denigrates "old white guys" as the scourge of humanity while ostensibly promoting the philosophy of "old white guys" such as Hobbes, Hegel, and Marx. In reality, American leftism is a unique amalgamation of socialism, Darwinism, and oligarchism requiring an army of foot soldiers who dwell in a state of permanent  adolescence. Among the traits of those in their adolescent years is the conviction that they are always right and the rest of the world is wrong – that they are, in fact, much smarter than those silly and inane adults around them....

{ townhall.com } ~ Incontrovertible fact: People lie.

They fudge little things, like their height or weight. They exaggerate their athletic prowess or professional accomplishments. They deceive family, friends, lovers, voters, government officials, business partners and themselves. They lie about murder, theft, kidnapping, rape and discrimination. They lie for attention, deflection, power and profit.

Often, the reasons for manufacturing devastating fables are indiscernible or unfathomable. But this much is clear: If there are no consequences for lying about crime, false accusations will continue to ruin the lives of innocents -- poor and rich, black and white, liberal and conservative, civilian and cop.

According to the University of Michigan Law School's National Registry of Exonerations, 2,224 innocent criminal defendants since 1989 have been cleared of all charges in their cases. The average prison term served by exonerees is 14 years. In total, wrongful convictions have cost exonerees 19,610 years of freedom since 1982.

Wrongful convictions are based on a rotten foundation of lies and untruths constructed by a village of false accusers, including jailhouse snitches, biased investigators, corrupt crime lab analysts, faulty eyewitnesses, and ruthless prosecutors acting in bad faith.

John Bunn, wrongfully convicted of assault and murder when he was just 14 years old, is just one of more than a dozen innocent citizens who became entangled in New York Police Department Det. Louis Scarcella's nefarious web of deception. The infamous cop falsified evidence, suppressed evidence and coerced false confessions to ensure convictions and bolster his career as part of what one judge called a "pattern and practice" of misconduct demonstrating "disregard for rules, law, and the truth." Bunn and co-defendant Rosean Hargrave, became the 12th and 13th exonerees who had been targeted by Scarcella, just this month.

Daryl Fulton and Nevest Coleman each served nearly a quarter-century behind bars for a 1997 rape and murder of a woman in Chicago they did not commit. They endured physical abuse by detectives with a long history of coercing false confessions. Fulton and Coleman were released last November and granted certificates of actual innocence two months ago after post-conviction DNA testing and reinvestigation by the Cook County Conviction Integrity Unit cleared them -- and instead implicated a repeat sexual offender who lived near the victim.

Famed private attorney Kathleen Zellner, the most successful exoneration specialist in the nation, recently filed a civil rights lawsuit on Fulton's behalf. She has won landmark settlements on behalf of exonerees Ryan Ferguson, wrongfully convicted of murder in Missouri, and former Washington state police officer Ray Spencer, wrongfully convicted of sexually molesting his own children -- the result of lies told by a vengeful ex-wife who was having an affair with a conniving police detective overseeing the investigation.

Despite a complete lack of physical evidence, forensic evidence or corroborating witnesses, New Yorkers VanDyke Perry and Gregory Counts served 11 years and 26 years respectively for an alleged gang rape in 1992. Their convictions, vacated just this month, were based solely on the account of a woman who recanted years later and blamed a boyfriend for pressuring her into making it all up. The liar will face no charges because the statute of limitations has expired.

Question: If accusers can level rape and other claims decades after a purported crime occurs, why shouldn't the statute of limitations on prosecuting lies about crimes and seeking civil redress against all enablers be extended proportionally, too?

This summer, I'll dedicate a special series of columns and CRTV.com videos to false allegations against innocent men and women of all backgrounds. And I'll continue my investigative reporting on the ongoing wrongful conviction nightmare of Asian-American and former Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw, which was built on a super-sized Jenga tower of police bias, investigative incompetence, prosecutorial misconduct, media malpractice, pre-trial publicity-stoked mob rule, forensic failures and unprecedented courtroom secrecy.

Incontrovertible reality: These travesties happen in Democratic-controlled big cities and the rural South alike; by bad cops and to good cops; at the hands of white and black prosecutors, judges and ill-trained experts and investigators of all stripes.

What's shocking is not that these injustices are routine, but that public amnesia sets in every time accusers level sensational allegations of crimes in the court of public opinion before all the facts are known. Witness the knee-jerk social media conviction of innocent white Texas state trooper Daniel Hubbard by anti-cop advocate and former New York Daily News columnist Shaun King, who spread uncritically the false claims of a black woman who lied about Hubbard raping her during a traffic stop.

The admitted liar, Sherita Dixon-Cole, will not be prosecuted based on a technicality. Incredibly, King is reportedly moving on to a job with the Harvard-affiliated Fair Punishment Project, which in part conducts research to prevent more wrongful convictions.

Reform begins with confronting, instead of denying, reality. The cure for ignorance is exposure. Bias of all kinds destroys lives. People lie about everything under the sun. Women do lie about rape. Judges, prosecutors and police are not infallible. The system does fail.

The good news is that each of us is capable of helping amend and avert these wrongs. The bad news is that no one is ever safe.

The cautionary regulation is contained in the FBI’s nearly 700-page Domestic Investigations and Operations Guide. The restrictions are prompting national security analysts to say the FBI should have heeded its own rulebook, which encourages alternatives to human spies in any investigation, much less one into a presidential political campaign. { thenewamerican.com } ~ Within minutes of comments made by Saudi Arabia’s oil minister on Friday... crude oil prices for present and future delivery  dropped like a stone. By the end of trading on Tuesday, crude oil had lost more than six percent of its value, ending just above $65 a barrel, down from over $70. What spooked the markets were these comments from energy minister Khalid Al-Falih, made during a panel discussion on energy on Friday: It is the intent of all producers members of the OPEC cartel and another 10 non-members who are supporting OPEC at the moment to ensure that the oil market remains healthy, and if that means adjusting our policy in June, we are certainly prepared to do it...   https://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/energy/item/29164-latest-drop-in-oil-prices-puts-opec-in-a-bind

Clapper: No ‘Smoking Gun’ Evidence Of Collusion

{ dailycaller.com } ~ James Clapper, the former director of National Intelligence, said he has not seen “smoking gun” or “direct” evidence... of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government. “I saw no smoking-gun evidence of collusion before I left the government, and I still haven’t,” Clapper told Vox in an interview Thursday to promote his new book, “Facts and Fears: Hard Truths From a Life in Intelligence.” “There is a lot of circumstantial evidence and reasons to be suspicious, but no smoking gun as of yet.” Clapper did say he was interested in the number of contacts between members of the Trump campaign and people linked to the Russian government. He wrote in “Facts and Fears” that “the dashboard warning lights were all lit.”...

Gowdy and Rubio Affirm 'Crossfire Hurricane' Justification

by Mark Alexander:  My most recent column, “The Trump Investigation: Origins and Motives,” was devoted to a series of forensic analysis essays about the Trump/Putin collusion charade and how Barack liar-nObama and liar-Hillary Clinton conspired, with the help of a few key FBI and CIA friends in high places, to set up Donald Trump for a takedown.

That forensic analysis was written by National Review’s Andrew McCarthy, whose perspective on this matter I trust given his considerable record as a former assistant U.S. attorney.
There is another astute former assistant U.S. attorney whose perspective I also trust implicitly. That would be Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and was the former chair of the House Benghazi Committee. In his former capacity, he exposed  liar- Hillary Clinton’s corrupt coverup of the Benghazi attack, which she fabricated to protect Barack liar-nObama’s successful 2012 reelection bid. liar-nObama suppressed any further investigation into that disgraceful coverup in order to, in turn, protect Clinton’s 2016 presidential bid.
Currently, as chair of the House Oversight Committee, Gowdy has doggedly pursued corruption at the highest levels of the Department of Justice. That includes how a handful of liar-nObama/ liar-Clinton supporters in the FBI and CIA — most notably former CIA Director John Brennan the Deep State boss who’s at the root of the Trump collusion setup, and former FBI Director James Comey, who, with a few other key FBI personnel — manufactured the Trump/Putin investigation in order to undermine Trump’s candidacy and then his unexpected election.
On Wednesday, after reviewing some of the FBI’s records regarding “Crossfire Hurricane,” the counterintelligence investigation into whether some Russian operatives were attempting to gain influence with several individuals with loose ties to the Trump campaign, Gowdy offered his assessment of that operation.
Regarding the justification, Gowdy concluded: “I don’t know what the FBI could have done or should have done other than run out a lead that someone loosely connected with the campaign was making assertions about Russia. I think you would want the FBI to find whether or not there was any validity to what those people were saying. … Think back to what the president himself told James Comey. He said, ‘I didn’t collude with Russia, but if anyone connected with my campaign did, I want you to investigate it.’ It strikes me that that’s exactly what the FBI was doing. I am even more convinced that the FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got, and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump.”
Gowdy added, “Marco Rubio and others [like] Tom Cotton on the SSI [Senate Select Committee on Intelligence], the folks who have seen the information, I think, have the same perspective I have.”
Indeed, according to Rubio, “What I have seen is evidence that [the FBI agents] were investigating individuals with a history of links to Russia. … Individuals … who we should be suspicious of that predate the presidential campaign. And when individuals like that are in the orbit of a major political campaign in America, the FBI, who is in charge of counterintelligence investigations, should look at people like that.”
As I have noted repeatedly regarding Op “Crossfire Hurricane,” “For certain, Russian efforts to undermine the integrity of U.S. elections should be thoroughly investigated — as has been the case in the past.”
But I also previously noted, “The FBI should have contacted the Trump campaign directly to help determine if the Russians were seeking to influence that campaign, but there was already a fabricated presumption of colluding guilt” by several of Comey’s key senior FBI personnel, and any findings from “Crossfire Hurricane” that these connections did exist would fit nicely into their narrative.
Predictably, some Democrats and their dependable  Leftmedia PR outlets are intentionally conflating the comments from Gowdy and Rubio as an exoneration of the overall corruption investigation regarding how Comey and a few of his key investigative managers within the FBI collaborated with liar-Clinton campaign officials to frame Trump on the Russia collusion delusion.
But what Gowdy and Rubio said in no way exonerates that larger investigation into a few corrupt managers within the FBI.
According to Gowdy: “I think there are two things important to understand. Number one, the source of President Trump’s frustration. [Former CIA Director John] Brennan said he should be in the dust bin of history. [Former FBI Director James] Comey said impeachment’s too good of a remedy. [Former Director of National Intelligence James] Clapper doesn’t like him. [Former Attorney General] Loretta lynch said, ‘Call it a matter, not an investigation.’ [Ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee scum-Adam] Schiff said he had evidence of collusion before we even began the investigation, and 60 Democrats have voted to impeach him before Bob Mueller has come up with a single, solitary finding.”
The question is not about whether FBI counterintelligence agents did what they were reasonably tasked to do but about the motivations of Comey and his crew regarding this investigation.
To that end, Gowdy posits the salient questions to be answered about “Crossfire Hurricane”: “What did the FBI do? When did they do it? What was the factual predicate upon which they took whatever actions they took and against whom were they directed?
Footnote: Regarding President Trump’s blustering social media posts about corruption at the highest levels of the FBI, he should make sure those posts don’t cast the entire FBI as corrupt. As I have noted repeatedly, “The corruption of FBI leadership and some high-level bureaucrats has cast a long shadow on all of the 12,484 special agents and 2,950 intelligence analysts in the FBI. But most men and women in the FBI, much as in the CIA, steadfastly abide by their oaths ‘to support and defend’ our Constitution, not their preferential candidate, and they serve our nation likewise. They live up to the FBI motto: Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity.”   ~The Patriot Pos

DeSantis Refutes Gowdy, No Docs Provided,
FBI Not Dong What Americans Wanted
{ rickwells.us } ~ Congressman Ron DeSantis (R-FL) sits on the same House Oversight and Government Reform Committee that is chaired by Mueller COUP cheerleader Trey Gowdy... He’s challenging and refuting some of the disinformation that Gowdy has been out vigorously spreading around over the past few days, sugar-coating the DOJ spying on the Trump campaign by the corrupt liar-nObama regime and DOJ. The video starts with a clip of Gowdy squandering his diminished political capital and propagandizing for the left, saying, “The FBI did exactly what my fellow citizens would want them to do when they got the information they got, and that it has nothing to do with Donald Trump.” Brian Kilmeade summarizes things as he interprets Gowdy’s comments, “it shows that they looked at two people on the periphery and saw about their links and if it was a problem they would have spoken to the President, do you have a problem with an informant doing that?”...   https://rickwells.us/desantis-gowdy-docs-fbi/

{ freedomoutpost.com } ~ Experts warn of an increase in the risk of conflict after word surfaced that China was ramping up a nuclear arms race with the United States and Russia...  According to Chinese state media, a number of their recent nuclear arms tests have “outpaced” the US. Between September 2014 and last December, China carried out around 200 laboratory experiments to simulate the extreme physics of a nuclear blast, the China Academy of Engineering Physics reported in a document released by the government earlier this year and reviewed by the South China Morning Post this month. The US only carried out only 50 simulated tests between 2012 and 2017, which comes out to about 10 a year according to the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory...   https://freedomoutpost.com/china-steps-up-the-pace-in-nuclear-arms-race-with-russia-and-us/

by Thomas Gallatin:  In a CBS interview, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) was asked to comment on a New York Times report alleging that President Donald Trump had “berated” Attorney General Jeff Sessions for having recused himself from the Russia probe into election interference. Trump reportedly requested that Sessions reverse his recusal, which, if true, Sessions obviously declined.

Gowdy responded, “I think what the president is doing is expressing frustration that Attorney General Sessions should have shared these reasons for recusal before he took the job, not afterward. If I were the president and I picked someone to be the country’s chief law enforcement officer, and they told me later, ‘Oh, by the way, I’m not going to be able to participate in the most important case in the office,’ I would be frustrated, too. And that’s how I read that, is, ‘Senator Sessions, why didn’t you tell me before I picked you?’ There are lots of really good lawyers in the country — [President Trump] could have picked someone else.”
Soon after the interview, Trump responded by quoting Gowdy’s assertion about picking"somebody else" and adding, “And I wish I did!” The mainstream media was quick to jump all over Trump’s latest “attack” on his AG, suggesting that Trump was seeking to convince Sessions to resign or is angling to fire him because there’s bad blood between them. And while there may be much popular speculation as to Trump’s opinion on the job Sessions is doing as AG, the fact remains that the only real issue Trump has with Sessions is the recusal. But Trump has referenced it repeatedly.
Back in July 2017, Trump explained to The New York Times why he was disappointed in Sessions: “Jeff Sessions takes the job, gets into the job, recuses himself, which, frankly, I think is very unfair to the president. How do you take a job and then recuse yourself? If he would have recused himself before the job, I would have said, ‘Thanks, Jeff, but I’m not going to take you.’ It’s extremely unfair — and that’s a mild word — to the president.” But it also should be noted that back in 2017 Sessions offered his resignation to Trump, which Trump refused. Nowhere has Trump stated that he regretted not accepting Sessions resignation.
In other words, Trump’s criticism of Sessions has been consistent and only a result of Sessions caving to Washington pressure to recuse himself. And this issue is repeatedly brought to bear because Robert Mueller’s probe continues as a thorn in Trump’s side. Therefore Trump’s frustration with Sessions over the recusal continues. This isn’t rocket science.   ~The Patriot Pos

Joe DiGenova Rips Disinfo
Propagandist Trey Gowdy and Backstabber Jeff Sessions
{ rickwells.us } ~ Sean Hannity sets the stage for Joe diGenova’s stinging rebuke of RINO propagandist for the left, Trey Gowdy... by first addressing the fact that the actions of AG Jeff Sessions have now been exposed as completely unnecessary and indefensible. DiGenova says, “It was an unforced betrayal of the President of the United States, who had appointed him. And here’s the problem,” going into the fact that it the Russia hoax was at that time a counterintelligence ‘investigation,’ and that Sessions didn’t have to recuse himself, and could and should have supervised the case. He says, “Even if criminal matters came up, he would not necessarily have had to recuse himself. In fact, we now know that it remains basically a counterintelligence investigation, and the only thing that Mueller wants to do is interview the President of the United States, for no good reason, in order to get evidence so he can refer it to the House of Representatives.”...

He proved that this week with a series of vicious tweets against Robert Mueller and his “13 Angry Democrats” a term we love, by the way. Trump insinuated that the only tangible reason for the investigation to exist at this point is to give Democrats something to run on in November. And while his critics will say he’s trying to distract from the evidence against him, that’s an argument that works better when there actually is, you know, evidence against him. So far, we’ve seen zilch. “The 13 Angry Democrats plus people who worked 8 years for liar-nObama working on the rigged Russia Witch Hunt, will be MEDDLING with the mid-term elections, especially now that Republicans stay tough! are taking the lead in Polls,” Trump warned on Tuesday. “There was no Collusion, except by the Democrats!”...   http://www.conservativefreepress.com/trump-administration/trump-turns-the-tables-mueller-meddling-in-2018-election/

{ investigativeproject.org } ~ Watching summer reruns on TV can be entertaining. Watching reoccurring patterns in Islamic terrorist attacks is not... The latest terror attack in the European Union occurred Tuesday in Liege, Belgium, and appears to follow an all too familiar pattern. A petty criminal, radicalized in prison and released prematurely, carries out a deadly attack on law enforcement officers and civilians shouting "Allah Akbar" before he is brought down by a hail of bullets. Benjamin Herman was a career criminal on a temporary release program from prison. Hours after being released, he stabbed two Liege police officers and then executed them in cold blood with their own service weapons. Herman also shot and killed Cyril Vangriecken, a 22-year-old school custodian. The Warrior's Tale
by Daniel Greenfield

{ sultanknish.blogspot.com } ~ The warrior's tale is a simple enough thing. Strong as steel, but fragile as chance. It is the wind in his soul and the wall we build around ourselves to tell us who we are.

Before there were cities or nations, and railways and airports, computers and telephones-- the tale was told around campfires. Acted out in pantomime, dressed up in animal furs and cave paintings. But the tale was the same. The people were confronted with a threat and they called upon the best and strongest of their men to go out and fight it. These were their warriors. What they did in the face of that threat is the tale.

The tale has many variations. Sometimes there are many warriors, sometimes only a handful. They march into the village of the enemy in triumph, or they make a last stand on a rocky outcropping, spending the last of their heart's blood to buy time they will never know. There is the weak man who becomes strong, the strong man who becomes weak, the woman who mourns the man who will never return, and the man who goes off to battle with nothing to lose. These tales have been told countless times in the ages of men, and they will be told again for as long as men endure.

It is not only the warriors who need the tale, or those left behind. Future generation learn who they are from this tale. "We are the people who died for this land," is the unseen moral of each tale. "We bled for it. We died for it. Now it is yours to bleed and die for."

The warrior's tale tells each generation that they stand on the wall against a hostile world. And that the wall is made not of stones, but of their virtues. Their courage, their integrity and their craft.  Theirs is the wall and they are the wall-- and if they should fail, then it will fail. And the land and the people will be swept away.

What happens to a people who forget the warrior's tale and stop telling it around their campfires? Worse , what of a people who are taught to despise the figure of the warrior and what he represents? They will not lose their courage, not all of it. But they will lose the direction of that courage. It will become a sudden unexplained virtue that rises to them out of the depths of danger. And their wall will fail.

It is the warrior's tale that makes walls. That says this is the land that we have fought for, and we will go on fighting for it. It is sacrifice that makes mere possession sacrosanct. It is blood that turns right to duty. It is the seal that is above law, deeper still to heritage. Anyone can hold a thing, but it is sacrifice that elevates it beyond possessiveness. And it is that tale which elevates a people from possessors of a land, to the people of the land.

Universalism discards the warrior's tale as abomination. A division in the family of man. Their tale is of an unselfish world where there are no more divisions or distinctions. Where everyone is the same in their own way. But this tale is a myth, a religious idea perverted into totalitarian politics. It is a promise that cannot be kept and a poison disguised with dollops of sugar. It lures the people into tearing down their wall and driving out their warriors.  And what follows is what always does when there is no wall. The invaders come, the women scream, the children are taken captive and the men sit with folded hands and drugged smiles dreaming of a better world.

The warrior's tale explains why we fight in terms of our own history. The Great Swamp Fight. The Shot Heard Round the World. The Battle of New Orleans. Gettysburg, San Juan Hill, Belleau Wood, Pearl Harbor, Heartbreak Ridge, the Tet Offensive, Kandahar, and Fallujah. Generations of sacrifices must be defended. And those who wage war on us must be made to pay.

Universalism demands that war must answer to universal aims and objectives. That there is a universal law higher than war. But this is a children's story. The laws of men derive from their own interests. Those who can rule by force or coalition make their laws to serve their own ends. This is the way of the world.

Those who pretend to live by universalism will still fall to the law of steel. Rhetoric is no defense against fire and lead, and international codes have no defense against those who will break them. The talk may go on, but it is the warriors who will end it. It is still the warrior's tale to tell, even if all others have forgotten it.

The warrior's tale is no happy thing. It is bitter as bile and dark as death. But it is also a grand and glorious thing. For even in its full naked truth, it is the story of perseverance in the face of every agony and betrayal. It is the tale of how we live and why we die.

Even when all others forget their tale, the warriors remember. Even when they are called peacekeepers and turned into an army of clowns for the satisfaction of their political masters. The armies may decay, but warriors still remain in their cracks, on their edges-- men who are not wanted, but are needed because they are the only ones who can do the grim work and do it well. They may only be a hundredth of an army, or a thousandth. A fraction of a fraction. But without them there is no army, only empty uniforms.

When the warrior's tale is forgotten, then they become shadows. Dangerous men despised and feared. Thought of as killers, dismissed as monsters and stared at like beasts in a cage. But the society cannot deny them. It cannot deny that part of them. When the warrior diminishes, the energy is directed elsewhere. Sport becomes an obsession and matches end in bloody violence. Crime increases. Prisons fill up. So do police forces.

As the external war fades, the internal one begins. Barbarians come from without. Buildings burn, mobs rage and there is a savagery in the air.

No law can protect a society that has forgotten the warrior's tale. It will turn outward, and adopt the warriors tales of outsiders. The samurai will replace the cowboy. The sports star will be an outsider. Its heroes will become foreigners. Men who will do understand the virtue of violence and will do what their own have been forbidden. Who have the vital energy that a society without a warrior's tale lacks.

When a people give up their own warrior's tale for that of others, they lose the ability to resist them. For each people's warrior's tale says that we are people, and they are enemies. We are warriors and they are murderers. When a people have no other warrior's tale but that of their enemies, they will come to believe that they are monsters. And that their enemies are brave warriors.

The day will come when they are asked who they are, and they will not know. They will point to their possessions and the names of their streets and cities. They will speak of higher ideals and cringe for not living up to them. They will be asked why they fight, and they will say that they do not want to fight. That all they want is peace at any price.

Even the most powerful of civilizations with the mightiest of cities becomes prey when it forgets the warrior's tale. It takes more than weapons to defend a city, it demands the knowledge of the rightness of their use. It is no use dressing men in uniforms and arming them, if they are not taught the warrior's tale. And it is nearly as little use, sending them off to watch and keep, if the men above them discard the warrior's tale as violent and primitive gibberish.

An army of millions is worth little, without the warrior's tale. Strategy is technique, firepower is capacity, both begin and end with the human mind. "Why do we fight," is the question that the warrior's tale answers far better than any politician could. "We fight because this is ours. It is our honor, our duty and our war. We have been fighting for hundreds and thousands of years. This is what makes us who we are."

We are the people, says the warrior's tale. But we are every people, says the universalist's tale. All is one. There is no difference between us and them. And we will prove it by bringing them here. Then the walls fall and it falls to the warriors to make their last stand. To tell another warrior's tale with their lives.

This is the quiet war between the philosopher merchants who want trade and empire, and the warriors who know that they will be called upon to secure the empire, and then die fighting the enemy at home. It is how the long tale that begins with campfires and ends with burning cities goes. The story that begins with cave paintings and ends with YouTube videos. Whose pen is iron, lead and steel. And whose ink is always blood.

We have been here before. Told and retold the old stories. The forest, the swamp, the hill and the valley. And behind them the lie, the maneuver and the betrayal. The war that becomes unreasoning and the people who forget why they fight. And one by one the warriors slip away. Some to the long sleep in the desert. Others to secluded green places. And still others into the forgetfulness of a people's memory. The hole in the heart of a people who forget themselves and become nothing.

Jarrett - Mr Magoo Sessions Recused
Under Wrong Law, US Figuring Mueller Out
{ rickwells.us } ~ Lou Dobbs and Gregg Jarrett almost don’t know where to begin in tackling the embracing by the left of criminality... hypocrisy and abuse of power as the new normal. Jarrett observes, “Well, the New York Times is desperate but Robert Mueller must really be desperate if he thinks that scolding the Attorney General over his wrongful recusal is somehow obstruction of justice.” Jarrett educates Mueller or, at a minimum, lets him know he’s not getting away with his latest deception, saying, “Under the law obstruction requires a corrupt purpose and as Victoria Toensing pointed out, a lie, threat, bribe, destruction of evidence or altering of documents. Scolding your AG because he was dumb in relying on the wrong regulation in his recusal is not obstruction of justice.” Jarrett continues, “And so this just underscores what a colossal waste of taxpayer money Mueller has cost us.” He says, “Americans now are beginning to realize the President is the victim, not the villain, here, that there was never any evidence of a crime to justify a criminal investigation, no legitimate intelligence to justify a counterintelligence investigation. And Americans are turning against Robert Mueller and James Comey.”...   https://rickwells.us/jarrett-magoo-sessions-recused/

Pruitt called leaving the agreement "historic" and addressed controversy over his leadership at the agency, saying the president fully supports him, in an interview with the Washington Free Beacon. "The president a year ago this Friday said he's going to put America first," Pruitt said. Diplomats: EU Wrestling with Iran Nuclear Deal After American Exit

{ news.usni.org } ~ The Trump administration’s decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal leaves the European Union with the difficult choice of continuing to trade with Iran... to keep up its end of the accord but also faces the loss of doing business in the United States, the EU ambassador to Washington said Wednesday. “I think Europe will live up to their commitment in the agreement,” as long as Iran does not resume its work on nuclear weapons. Daniel O’Sullivan said speaking at the Woodrow Wilson Center. He noted that the United Kingdom, France and Germany, for now, all part of the 28-member union, were signatories to the deal, along with Russia and China. Lady Catherine Ashton, former vice president of the European Commission, said the agreement was unique because for the first time it brought all these nations working together on resolving a major international issue. With Trump’s decision, Russia, China, Germany, France and the United Kingdom “lose an incredibly important and vital partner” in keeping Iran from moving ahead with a nuclear weapons program to match its missile programs...   https://news.usni.org/2018/05/30/diplomats-eu-wrestling-iran-deal-american-exit?utm_source=USNI+News&utm_campaign=341239f88f-USNI_NEWS_DAILY&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_0dd4a1450b-341239f88f-231491269&mc_cid=341239f88f&mc_eid=3999f18767

{ dailysignal.com } ~ Our federal courts are facing a vacancy crisis like never before... The number of judicial vacancies across the federal bench has averaged 142 so far this year. The only year that came close to this was 1991, which had an average of 138 vacancies—but that was shortly after Congress created 85 new judicial positions. More than half of the current vacancies are designated as “judicial emergencies” by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts because those seats have been open so long and they significantly impact the caseloads of other judges. This is a real vacancy crisis. As of May 30, 39 nominees to the U.S. district courts and U.S. courts of appeal were pending before the full Senate after being approved by the Judiciary Committee. More than half of these nominees are slated to fill judicial emergency vacancies...   https://www.dailysignal.com/2018/05/30/democrat-obstruction-in-the-senate-is-hurting-our-courts/?utm_source=TDS_Email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=MorningBell&mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTUdKbFkySmxNMk5qWm1FeCIsInQiOiJudzZuVGVtaXNcL2w5VWk4MVgzRjVteUJmSHp0UHhGMWZJZTdTT05GeFY4K3ZxNWVFZ09YOVpocXJGWWxSWFMzK2ZQem1MNForSk5MR0NIdklFd1VMMUltN01nQTl3ejRTYVFVeFNsWU9aZHJLTFh3N0hzMVR1ZDhhRlMySVNXUmMifQ%3D%3D

Benghazi's Kris Paronto Calls
Out Sissy-Boy Hogg for Anti-American Tweet
{ rickwells.us } ~ Freakish girly-boy David Hogg is the poster boy for how terrorists see Americans... He’s got a sense of entitlement, he’s weak, frail, virtually gender neutral, and soft. He cries when something doesn’t go his way like a two-year old, only he’s got big money behind him so his impact is much more than that of a child in Wal-Mart who’s mother won’t get him the Skittles. Instead of stomping his feet and screaming at the checkout aisle, the carnival freak show with a megaphone and no body, Hogg, recently threw a tantrum by lying on the floor of a Publix Market in Florida. He and a spattering of his cult followers attempted to manipulate the retailer by motivating shoppers to go elsewhere, to extort compliant behavior under the threat of economic consequences. It was their leftist confiscation cabal’s punishment for supporting a pro-NRA candidate for governor. While David Hogg might be every terrorist’s dream date for man-boy Thursdays, another public figure, a real man who fights terrorists and kills them, had a noteworthy response to this mouthy little twerp. Kris Paronto became famous for Benghazi, who ran towards the shooting to rescue his fellow Americans and doesn’t mince his words when it comes to traitors attacking his right to bear arms and our Constitution as the left’s gun confiscation mouthpiece...Have not heared from girly-boy Hogg's parents. Why?

{ townhall.com } ~ After being sworn in for a fourth term, Vladimir Putin departed the Kremlin for Annunciation Cathedral to receive the televised blessing of Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The patriarch and his priests in sacred vestments surrounded Putin, who, standing alone, made the sign of the cross.

Meanwhile, sacred vestments from the Sistine Chapel were being transported by the Vatican to New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art to adorn half-clad models in a sexy show billed as "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." One model sported a papal tiara.

The show proved a sensation in secular media.

In Minsk, Belarus, on May 17, to celebrate International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, Britain's embassy raised the rainbow flag. Belarus's Ministry of Internal Affairs was not amused:

"Same-sex relationships are a fake. And the essence of fake is always the same -- the devaluation of truth. The LGBT community and all this struggle for 'their rights,' and the day of the community itself, are just a fake!"

Belarus is declaring moral truth -- to Great Britain.

What is going on? A scholarly study sums it up: "The statistical trends in religion show two separate Europes: the West is undergoing a process of secularization while the post-socialist East, de-secularization."

One Europe is turning back to God; the other is turning its back on God. And when Vladimir Putin and Belarus' Alexander Lukashenko are standing up for traditional values against Western cultural elites, the East-West struggle has lost its moral clarity.

And, so, what do we Americans stand for now? What is our cause in the world today?

In World War II, Americans had no doubt they were in the right against Nazism and a militaristic Japan that had attacked us at Pearl Harbor.

In the Cold War, we believed America was on God's side against the evil ideology of Marxism-Leninism, which declared the Communist state supreme and that there was no such thing as God-given rights.

With the moral clarity of the Cold War gone, how do we rally Americans to fight on the other side of the world in places most of them can't find on a map?

A weekend article in The Washington Post discusses the strategic difficulty of our even prevailing, should we become involved in wars with both Iran and North Korea.

"You would expect the U.S. and its allies to prevail but at a human and material cost that would be almost incalculable, particularly in the case of the Korean example," said Rand researcher David Ochmanek,

Added John Hopkins professor Mara Karlin, "If you want to ensure the Pentagon can actually plan and prepare and resource for a potential conflict with China or Russia, then getting into conflict with Iran or North Korea is the exact wrong thing to do."

One wonders: How many of these potential wars -- with North Korea, Iran, Russia, China -- could we fight without having America bled and bankrupted. What conceivable benefit could we derive from these wars, especially with a China or Russia, to justify the cost?

Looking back, only one great power survived the last century as a world power. The German, Russian, Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman empires did not survive World War I. World War II brought to an end the British, French, Italian and Japanese empires.

The Soviet Union and the United States were the only great surviving powers of World War II, and the USSR itself collapsed between 1989 and 1991.

Then, in 1991, we Americans started down the well-traveled road of empire, smashing Iraq to rescue Kuwait. Heady with that martial triumph, we plunged into Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen.

Though still embroiled, we are now talking war with North Korea or Iran, or even Russia or China, the former over its annexation of Crimea, the latter over its annexation of the South China Sea.

Donald Trump is president today because he told the people he would "Make America Great Again" and put "America First."

Which bring us back to the question: What is America's cause today?

Defeating Nazism and fascism was a cause. Defending the West against Communism was a cause. But what cause now unites Americans?

It is certainly not Christianizing the world as it was in centuries long ago, or imposing Western rule on mankind as it was in the age of empires from the 17th to the 20th century.

Democracy crusading is out of style as the free elections we have demanded have produced Hamas, Hezbollah, the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Muqtada al-Sadr in Iraq, and nationalists, populists and autocrats from Asia to the Middle East to Europe.

Perhaps our mission is to defend and protect what is vital to us, to stay out of foreign wars where our critical interests are not imperiled, and to reunite our divided and disputatious republic -- if we are not too far beyond that.

Chaffetz - Gowdy Spreading Disinfo
on Sypgate, Wish Sessions Would Just Go
{ rickwells.us } ~ Jason Chaffetz, who used to chair the same Oversight Committee that his friend and Mueller mouthpiece and advocate Trey Gowdy now heads... holds a much different view of the spying on president Trump. He’s also got some very stark realism for the invisible man at DOJ, Jeff Sessions. Against a backdrop of criticism by President Trump of the do-nothing obstructionist who is currently occupying the Attorney General’s office, Chaffetz says that “Jeff Sessions is there in name only. He is absolutely worthless as the Attorney General. The single biggest thing that they’re dealing with there at the DOJ he’s recused himself.” Chaffetz continues, “He’s absolutely absent when it comes to document production and other key things within the agency.” David Asman interrupts, asking, “For the President to have lost all confidence in the highest law enforcement agent in the country is very serious, no?”...   https://rickwells.us/chaffetz-gowdy-disinfo-sessions/

{ townhall.com } ~ This story broke before the long weekend, but because the corresponding news cycle was fraught screaming about NFL anthem kneeling regulations... it largely got lost in the culture war cacophony. One of the fundamental flaws of the Iran nuclear deal -- from which President Trump has withdrawn the United States, correctly, in my view -- is that the regime in Tehran simply is not a reliable partner. Even if they were to technically abide by every one of the West's temporary restrictions it must be noted that they have not done so scrupulously, and provably lied from the very beginning, the Iranians would emerge from their decade-plus stay in the global penalty box as a cash-flush threshold nuclear-armed power, thanks to the accord's extraordinary and lopsided concessions. President liar-nObama has  effectively admitted as much, just as he's allowed that the regime has almost certainly exploited its new financial windfall to finance terrorism, and has breached the "spirit" of the agreement through its ongoing pursuit of technology to deliver the nuclear weapons they continue to covet. And now we can add even more clandestine treachery to the rap sheet, via the New York Times...   https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybenson/2018/05/30/surprise-watchdog-group-discovers-illicit-iranian-missile-site-hidden-in-remote-desert-location-n2485047?utm_source=thdailypm&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl_pm&newsletterad=

President Trump positioning the auto-industry 232 review, May 23rd, was one of the key ‘leverage signals‘ something was about to change. { jewishworldreview.com } ~ The phrase international order reminds me of the phrase Western civilization.

As Indian independence icon Mahatma Gandhi wittily replied when asked about Western civilization, "It would be a good idea." The notion that international order exists or has ever existed seems highly questionable to me. The notion of a liberal international order is even more questionable because it is neither liberal, nor international, nor very orderly.

It is often claimed by political scientists that the liberal international order came into existence in 1945. The argument goes that American and British statesmen, having learned from the terrible mistakes of the 1930s and 1940s, decided to make the world anew by creating a series of remarkable international institutions: the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund and later the World Bank. According to this narrative, Donald Trump's election as US president in 2016 was a wrecking ball directed at the liberal international order created by the generation of 1945.

Yet this is a fairy tale. For one thing, there was nothing very liberal about the economic order that was established in 1945. It was devised by people - notably John Maynard Keynes - who had repudiated classical liberal economics and believed that international trade should be limited and capital movements controlled.

It was also not a truly international order. After 1945, it very quickly became a bipolar order that divided the world. There was nothing international about the Cold War. It was a battle between two empires and two ideologies, and the rest of the world's nations had to choose sides.

In short, the notion of a liberal international order, born in 1945, is a historical fantasy. The reality is that it was only in 1991 when the Soviet Union collapsed and the Cold War ended that it was possible to create a liberal international order. The era of truly free trade, truly free capital flows and large-scale migration across borders did not begin until the 1990s.

This age of globalization had two distinctive features. First, it was hugely beneficial to China. Second, the US bore most of the cost of underwriting the liberal international order in military and naval terms.

To understand this much more recent liberal international order, it is important to see that two things are indispensable to it. First, the most important relationship of that period, from 1990 to 2008, was the harmonious relationship between China and America - "Chimerica," as I called it in 2007.

The second indispensable foundation was what I and others called the American Empire. Although Americans are allergic to the notion that they run an empire, that is what they do. They just do it rather badly, at least by comparison with their British counterparts.

Neither Chimerica nor the American Empire was very stable foundations for a liberal international order.

What ended the liberal international order was not Trump; it was the financial crisis in 2008, the biggest financial crisis since the one that had begun in 1929. The financial crisis in 2008 did not end in depression like in the 1930s for two reasons: the extraordinary creative efforts of Western central banks and the huge economic stimulus program run by the Chinese government. Without those, the 2010s might well have been like the 1930s.

Yet these measures did not suffice to preserve the liberal international order. During Barack liar-nObama's presidency, American voters became increasingly skeptical about the benefits of free trade, free capital markets and free migration. That was a process underway even before Trump became a presidential candidate. However, Trump knew better than any other would-be president to articulate popular disillusionment with globalization.

Trump's campaign in 2016 was an all-out assault on Chimerica - he repeatedly blamed China for the US-Chinese trade deficit - as well as, more generally, free trade.

In response to this American volte face, China has set out an alternative vision of international order, most obviously when President Xi Jinping made the case for globalization at the 2017 World Economic Forum at Davos.

What comes next? There are two possible scenarios. In one, China and the US collide over both commercial and geopolitical issues and fall into the "Thucydides Trap" about which Graham Allison has written in his book Destined for War.

The much preferable alternative is that China and the US recognize their common interests as great powers facing multiple threats, such as Islamic terrorism, nuclear proliferation, cyber warfare and climate change. But they will not be able to do so as a team of two. They will need the support of the other great powers represented as permanent members of the UN Security Council: Britain, France and Russia.

A key issue for the next 10 years is whether Russia can be persuaded to work collaboratively with the other great powers.

Trump Mocks MS-13 Lover Pulosi,
clown-Schumer's Tool in Nashville Rally
{ rickwells.us } ~ At a campaign rally in Nashville for US Senate hopeful, Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn... President Trump took advantage of the opportunity to deliver some well stinging barbs at the expense of some most deserving Democrats. He told the crowd that “to keep this momentum going, to continue this incredible progress, to keep on winning, you have to vote Republican in November. You see what’s happening with the Democrats.” Trump expands on his thoughts, saying, “So Marsha’s very liberal Democrat opponent, Phil Bredesen, I never heard of this guy. Who is he, who is he?”  Trump answers his own question, to the delight of his fans, saying, “He’s an absolute, total tool of Chuck clown-Schumer. He’s a tool of Chuck clown-Schumer and, of course, the MS-13 lover Nancy Pulosi.” As the boos from the mere mention of Pulosi’s name start to fade, Trump goes after her a little more, saying, “She loves MS-13, can you imagine?”...

Coup and Cover Up Tool Grassley
Issues Latest Ultimatum for DOJ to Ignore
{ rickwells.us } ~ Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley pretends to be an obstinate, tough and no-nonsense defender of the Constitution to the American public... In reality his political adversaries, be they authentic or staged, know he’s a pushover. Just ignore him and he’ll accept it, every deadline is followed by another. He’s all bluster. The latest instance is his red line, last straw, “I really mean it this time” threat to DOJ over their obstruction and withholding of documents and use of redactions in response to demands by his committee. It’s just the latest in the series of refusals by the deep state DOJ to provide Congress with documents that would expose the anti-American activities and corruption at DOJ. This time it involves the redaction of documentation of the extravagant waste by criminal subversive Andrew McCabe and more importantly, the liar-nObama White House being directly involved in orchestrating illegal DOJ operations. The $70,000 price tag for a conference table for McCabe’s office was redacted from text messages between Peter Strzok and his lust partner Lisa page. Grassley stated in a letter sent to COUP kingpin Rod Rosenstein on May 23rd, his displeasure that not only had the redactions been made, but the excuses for why were not provided. Apparently DOJ realized there was no legitimate reason and “just to cover our butts” wasn’t on the list of choices...   https://rickwells.us/coup-grassley-ultimatum-doj-ignore/

British Media: Lockstep Lies

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ Hundreds of supporters of Tommy Robinson filled the streets of London on Saturday in protest against his arrest in Leeds on Friday... but it was not until shortly after midnight on Monday that the Daily Mail posted a report about the protest on its website. The story, which was unsigned, was updated on early Monday afternoon. How to explain the delay? Did the Daily Mail's lawyers have to check with the British government, which had placed a gag order on reporting about the arrest, to make sure that it was permissible to report on the protest, if not directly on the arrest itself? The Mail made sure to describe the hundreds of protesters as "far-right." How did the Mail ascertain their politics? Does it not occur to the Mail that even if Robinson were far-right, which he is not, a British subject would not have to be far right to want to take in a protest against his shockingly rapid-fire arrest, trial, conviction, and imprisonment for the sole offense of reporting from outside a courthouse? The Evening Standard also reported on the protest – and also labeled the participants "far-right."...

{ nationalreview.com } ~ President Trump said Wednesday morning that wishes he’d picked someone besides Jeff Sessions for attorney general... in one of his most direct attacks on the former senator. “I wish I did!” the president wrote on Twitter after quoting Representative Trey Gowdy, who expressed sympathy with Trump’s frustration with Sessions. Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation a year ago, bowing to pressure after revelations about his contacts with the Russian ambassador and his role as a Trump campaign surrogate. Trump has publicly attacked Sessions on several occasions since his recusal, even though the former Alabama senator was one of the first high-profile Republicans to endorse the New York billionaire during the 2016 campaign...

{ dailycaller.com } ~ Even as a new Rasmussen poll shows a majority of voters believe senior law enforcement officials broke the law to stop Donald Trump from beating liar-Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election... rank-and-file FBI agents who want to testify against their superiors to Congress feel they can’t due to an ineffective whistleblower protection law. These agents believe the sluggishness of the law exposes them to an inordinate risk of reprisal, so they have remained in hiding and afraid to speak the truth. This story is based on interview transcripts with two FBI agents that one former White House official provided The Daily Caller. A third special agent also reached out to The Daily Caller to provide information about the current state of the Bureau...

by Political Editors:  Responding to an argument without fully understanding the point that is being made only serves to make the responder look foolish. Or as Proverbs puts it, “It’s stupid and embarrassing to give an answer before you listen.” Such was the case recently when the Leftmedia outlet Vice News published an article blasting the National Rifle Association for a video by Colion Noir. The article’s headline read, “NRA wants Congress to set ‘limitations’ on how the news can cover school shootings.” Gee, so Noir, a popular leader in the effort to defend Americans’ Second Amendment rights, was exposed for calling on the government to limit Americans’ First Amendment rights? That’s what Vice News would have you believe, in spite of the fact that Noir was making exactly the opposite point.

Article author Tess Owen writes, “The National Rifle Association is calling for outright censorship as news of yet another school shooting dominates national headlines.” She then quotes Noir in the NRA video, who says, “It’s time to put an end to this glorification of carnage in pursuit of ratings, because it’s killing our kids.” Owen then notes that the video was posted online less than a week after 10 people were killed in the Santa Fe High School attack in Texas. She then adds another Noir quote, “It’s time for Congress to step up and pass legislation putting common sense limitations on #MSM’s ability to report on these school shootings.”
Once again here is another example of why context and content matter. After Noir makes the quote above, the video fades to black and then after a moment Noir pops back into view to make the following statement: “You know that feeling of anxiety that shot through your body when I said the government should pass laws to limit the media’s ability to exercise their First Amendment right? That’s the same feeling gun owners get when they hear people say the same thing about the Second Amendment.” Noir then explains how he does believe that the mainstream media’s over-the-top coverage of these school attacks contributes to copy-cat behavior, but that he is opposed to any government enforcement against the freedom of the press. Noir concludes, “I vehemently disagree with the government infringing on the media’s First Amendment rights the same way I don’t believe the government should infringe on anyone’s Second Amendment rights.”
It’s a highly effective video exposing the fallacy of the gun-control activists’ narrative about not wanting to abolish the Second Amendment and yet wanting to limit gun rights. But even more so, the video proves the point that many conservatives have long argued — the outright anti-conservative bias of many MSM reporters, who are more agenda-driven activists than they are investigative journalists.  Here is the NRATV video in question
