Mueller's Botched Counterintelligence Efforts

{ americanthinker.com } ~ Theoretically speaking, one of the FBI’s core responsibilities is counterintelligence. The FBI lists eight priorities on their website and counterintelligence is second... “Protect the United States against foreign intelligence operations and espionage.”  Robert Mueller, when he was the FBI Director, had the responsibility of stopping Russian intelligence operations against America. He reigned a full twelve years, from 2001 to 2013, marking the longest tenure of any director apart from Hoover. He had ample opportunity to run American counterintelligence as he saw fit, and even to put in place a foundation, set a culture, and hire the right people, to protect America going forward. However, Mueller was unable to bring victory to the intelligence department of the FBI. Indeed, Russia’s intelligence services clowned America numerous times. Mueller’s mindset can clearly be seen in testimony to the House Judiciary Committee on June 13th, 2013. In his opening statement, he listed the FBI’s top priorities: terrorists, homegrown violent extremists, and cybercrime. Counterintelligence didn’t make the top of his list, the bottom of the list, or even get a passing moment during the three hours of testimony. In fact, when Mueller brought up cybercrime, he even listed off what entities may commit cybercrime, but left out state actors and certainly didn’t name Russia. Given Mueller’s biography, none of this should be surprising. He was in law school around 1970 and worked as a lawyer up through 2001. He has good training to prosecute criminals. Cohen... were, in Cohen’s words, “courteous” and “respectful.” The president’s attorney was understandably grateful that the agents didn’t replicate the FBI’s tactics at the home of Paul Manafort, Trump’s onetime campaign manager. Busting in before dawn, guns drawn, with a “no knock” warrant while Manafort and his wife were in bed, the agents frisked Mrs. Manafort while she was still in her nightclothes. Perhaps Cohen thinks if he sounds reasonable, he can appease Robert Mueller, the special prosecutor who ordered Manafort’s arrest, or his other federal prosecutors behind this raid. Or maybe Cohen simply developed the quickest case of Stockholm syndrome in history. Whatever his reasons, a line has been violated. { townhall.com } ~ Concerning Paul Ryan's decision to leave Congress, I am more troubled by its implications for entitlement reform than the impact it may have on the GOP agenda or the November elections.

The Wall Street Journal's editorial page said, "Ryan will leave Congress in January with no substantial progress on reforming Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, few lawmakers interested in picking up the torch, and a clear signal that prospects are dim for any big overhaul in the foreseeable future."

Entitlement reform is not only the least sexy of all proposed legislation; it is the kiss of death for any would-be Republican reformer, because Republicans are already depicted by leftist demagogues as reverse Robin Hoods and curbing federal benefits for the poor and elderly would just "confirm" the slander.

It is tragic that we haven't the maturity to responsibly discuss amending these programs to prevent the inevitable national bankruptcy they guarantee in the absence of reform. Republicans are culpable on this, to be sure, but it's nothing compared with Democrats, who would rather demagogue than breathe.

I have been concerned about these runaway federal programs for decades but became especially interested during the Barack liar-nObama years, when Ryan gained national prominence for making them a national issue -- for a while.

This was Ryan at his best -- a policy wonk, meticulously crunching the numbers, preparing the position papers explaining their implications and presenting them to Congress and the public in intelligible language. I was encouraged when Mitt Romney chose Ryan as his running mate, because I saw Ryan's potential position as increasing the chances that the country would finally tackle the problem.

Though the details of the math might put some to sleep and experts might disagree on the timetable for our economic destruction, it is indisputable that unless we legislatively reform the programs, the country will swallow itself in debt. Any solution involves some pain, but the longer we delay the greater the pain will be and the more difficult reform will become politically.

Part of the problem is that many have been crying wolf for decades over the looming dangers of federal deficits and the accumulated federal debt. As no catastrophe has ever materialized, it's no wonder the public has been lulled into complacency and disregards the predictions of doom.

It is human nature to focus more on immediate problems than on long-term ones, and Washington's ever increasing demands on the public through onerous taxes and unending regulatory control keep us plenty busy. Endless partisan warfare also militates against soberly addressing this issue.

Some criticize Ryan for dropping the ball on entitlement reform after spending years convincing us that we ignore this issue at our own national peril.

But let's be realistic here. Does anyone think that in this politically hostile, hate-Trump atmosphere fomented by the media and the Democratic Party -- with the distractions they spawn over the Russia-collusion myth -- Ryan would have had a snowball's chance in Hades of getting to first base on any entitlement reform proposal?

Does that mean Ryan or other Republicans should abandon reform? No. But when you are under relentless fire, you'd better fire back right then, or you won't be around to fight another day.

And it's not just Democratic demagoguery and the unpopularity of reforms that stand in the way of action but also the tyranny of the urgent. Ryan didn't choose the speakership. He even resisted the position. But he eventually relented. It soon became clear that the mood of the country was to work on Trump's agenda, and that did not include entitlement reform. Ryan can be fairly criticized perhaps, along with many others, for the GOP failure on repealing and replacing liar-nObamacare, but if he had dreams of addressing long-term entitlement reform in the short run as speaker under Trump, they would have been just that -- dreams.

The hard, cold fact is that we do have more pressing problems than entitlement reform, and we always will -- until we finally bankrupt ourselves. But the political climate has made current attention to such reform almost impossible.

Every year, entitlements will gobble up an increasing percentage of the federal budget, so that in the near future, even draconian cuts in discretionary spending will not put a dent in the federal deficit.

People often lament that democracy contains a poison pill that guarantees its own demise, in that the voting public will vote itself money from the public trough and commit suicide by greed. Yes, we have a constitutional republic, but our representatives are democratically elected.

This poison has infected our system in multiple ways -- with the redistribution of income, certain people abusing federal power to control others, and the possible bankruptcy of future generations at the behest of irresponsible present generations.

I have no illusions that we're going to make appreciable headway in the near term or that Democrats will ever approach this problem in good faith to allow us to achieve reform by consensus. But because the budgetary doomsday clock is ticking, we don't have the luxury of forever shelving it.

As such, I am just going to be Pollyannaish for a change and humbly propose and pray that after Paul Ryan returns to his family and rejoins the private sector, he carves out time from his new position, whatever it is, to use his expertise and passion on entitlements to crusade for reform and keep that torch burning before it is too late for anything other than extreme reform. If you say that that reform is impossible, then you are necessarily saying the country is headed for destruction -- sooner than we imagine. Are you willing to live with that?

{ townhall.com } ~ This week, the FBI raided the office, hotel room and home of President Trump's personal attorney and self-described "fixer," Michael Cohen. According to various media reports, the Department of Justice signed off on a warrant for the search; presumably, the law enforcement agency is searching for evidence regarding Cohen's $130,000 payment to pornography actress Stormy Daniels, who allegedly had a one-night stand with Trump in 2006. Cohen has openly stated that he paid Daniels to shut up about her peccadillo with Trump -- and he has said that Trump had no knowledge of the payment.

That presents a problem. If Cohen paid off Daniels without Trump's knowledge, that raises the question as to whether their agreement was binding. If not, then Trump may have been party to a violation of campaign finance law, since a $130,000 in-kind donation is well above any legal limit. And if Cohen and Trump coordinated that arrangement, none of their communications on the matter are subject to attorney-client privilege.

So, it's quite possible that the FBI and DOJ may have just ensnared Cohen and, by extension, Trump, in a serious scandal.

But this raises another question: Where the hell were the FBI and DOJ when it came to liar-Hillary Clinton? Trump himself has been enraged by the disparity between law enforcement's treatment of liar-Clinton and its treatment of him. He rightly points out that the FBI and DOJ worked to exonerate liar-Clinton, with former FBI Director James Comey going so far as to change the definition of existing law to avoid recommending her indictment for mishandling classified material. And not only did then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch meet with former President liar-Bill Clinton on a tarmac in the middle of the election cycle and the investigation of his wife; Lynch's Department of Justice allowed Cheryl Mills, liar-Hillary Clinton's top aide, to claim attorney-client privilege. As Andrew McCarthy of National Review pointed out at the time, Mills was involved in the scrubbing of over 30,000 emails, yet the DOJ "indulged her attorney-client privilege claim, which frustrated the FBI's ability to question her on a key aspect of the investigation." Furthermore, Mills was allowed to sit in on liar-Clinton's interview with the FBI as liar-Clinton's lawyer.

And herein lies the problem for the DOJ and the FBI. Let's assume, for a moment, that everything they're doing now is totally honest and aboveboard -- that there's no attempt to "get" President Trump and they're just following where the evidence leads. Many conservatives will rightly point to the DOJ and FBI treatment of liar-Hillary Clinton, and state that the agencies ought to be consistent in their application of the law and leave Trump alone. Or they'll suggest that Trump ought to turn those agencies into personal defense organizations, as former President liar-nObama did.

Once supposedly neutral organizations are made partisan, a return to neutrality looks partisan. That means that the FBI and DOJ damn well better have gold-plated evidence against Cohen; they better not leak ancillary information damaging Trump to the press; and they better have dotted all their i's and crossed all their t's. If not, there will be hell to pay, not merely for those agencies but for a country that can no longer trust its own law enforcement agencies.

Comey Admits He Acted on Behalf of liar-Hillary as FBI Director

He’s back to running his mouth and saying stupid, incriminating things in public as he peddles his book and attempts to improve his legal position. Comey first gives borrows a tactic from fellow deep state member and former DNI, James Clapper, giving himself the presumption of innocence, of just being a stupid, “unwitting” hack. Comey claims that the environment he was working in subconsciously impacted his decision to reopen the liar-Clinton email sham investigation a week and a half before the election. In what seems like a scripted, “here’s where we make you look like an innocent boob instead of a despicable criminal” question, Stephanopoulos fed Comey his “not wittingly” leading softball. Kennedy, Kopechne and the Chappy Cover-Up 

by Mark Alexander:  I attended a general admission movie last weekend, “Chappaquiddick,” first time in five years (my wife claims 10). [Applause]

              While I have attended opening events for good films, in my opinion there are few that merit the commute and expense of theater viewing rather than streaming it a couple months later in the comfort of our family room. Many other folks clearly agree, given that theater attendance was at a 25-year low in 2017, along with Academy Award viewership.
               However, I don’t regret attending this movie, as I’m both familiar with the Kennedy political dynasty, and the Dike Bridge death on Chappaquiddick Island, which almostended that dynasty.
               Not long after Ted Kennedy’s Chappy manslaughter cover-up, I worked the summer before college at the exclusive Edgartown Yacht Club on Martha’s Vineyard. One summer was more than enough on that wealthy leftist glitterati playground — a place that remains a favorite resort destination of Demo-party protagonists, including the liar-nObama and liar-Clinton clans.
               So here’s a little teaser about an event that also shaped my perspective on Chappaquiddick: Ted Kennedy buried a drunken manslaughter conviction in Edgartown, but I was arrested and jailed for an open beer! (If you’re interested in the latter, see the addendum below.)
               Allow me to offer some insights on how the film portrayed an incident that should have ended the Kennedy political dynasty, but did not, because of their corrupt Massachusetts Democrat Party machine and the voters whose blind allegiance they commanded — and still do.
               Ted Kennedy was 30 years old when he first entered the Senate, the minimum age prescribed by our Constitution for that once-august body. He inherited the seatfollowing the November 1962 “special election” to fill the vacant seat held by his brother, John, whose presidential election had been crafted by “Old Joe” Kennedy. Ted was elected to a full six-year term in 1964 and re-elected in a 1970 landslide, just one year after the Chappaquiddick whitewash. Massachusetts Democrats would repeat that offense six more times, and the “Lion of the Senate” remained in office for 47 years until his death in August 2009 — becoming the fourth-longest continuously serving senator in U.S. history.
               That was 40 years after Mary Jo Kopechne was buried, along with certainty of manslaughter charges against Kennedy for her death.
               The movie “Chappaquiddick” accurately depicts the record of that night and the conspiracy to conceal the facts in the ensuing hours, days, weeks and years. It was a fair treatment of the conspiracies and lies that were undertaken to protect Kennedy’s political ambitions. It took half a century to bring the Kennedy conspiracy to the big screen, but I’m frankly surprised it would make it through the Hollywood PC censors even after 50 years.
               Here are the details … according to the record, and portrayed in the film.
               On Friday night, July 18, 1969, then-Senate Majority Whip Edward “Teddy” Kennedy, the youngest senator to ever hold that position of power, was at a party with Kennedy campaign “Boiler Room Girls” on the small island of Chappaquiddick across from Edgartown harbor. The Kennedys were notorious philanderers, and on this night Teddy’s pregnant wife Joan was home at their Kennedy Cape compound while he was out carousing.
               At 11:30, he left the party inebriated with a 28-year-old campaign assistant, Mary Jo Kopechne. En route to a beach where he intended to “party,” he drove his car off the side of the small Dike Bridge that crosses tide-swept Poucha Pond to a vacant beach. Kennedy’s car overturned in a few feet of water, trapping Kopechne, who died of asphyxiation hours later after depleting the oxygen in the air pocket she occupied in the back of the car.
               Kennedy claimed he made several attempts to rescue Kopechne prior to walking back to their Chappaquiddick party house. He passed four residences on the way, where he could have called for help, but didn’t. Upon arriving at the party house, he summoned his cousin Joseph Gargan and former Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Paul Markham, and together they hatched the cover-up.
               Gargan and Markham escorted their benefactor Teddy to the Chappaquiddick ferry landing, where he either swam or they boated him the few hundred feet to Edgartown harbor landing.               Once back at his small Edgartown hotel, Kennedy sobered up for ten hours before reporting the incident to police (by which time his car had already been discovered). He was able, thus, to avoid manslaughter prosecution for driving while intoxicated — and avoid the end of his political career.
               He and his political handlers conjured up a claim that he hadn’t reported the incident right away due confusion caused by a concussion — though there was no evidence to support that. Then he decided to strap on a neck brace, until they determined the public wouldn’t buy it. Then they considered claiming that Kopechne was driving, that Kennedy was actually the victim, but that option was rejected.
               Soon after Mary Jo’s body was recovered, it was quickly sent, without autopsy, back to her parents’ hometown, where she was buried.
               As for the cause of her death, experienced Edgartown Fire Rescue diver John Farrar, who recovered Kopechne’s body, testified, “She didn’t drown. She died of suffocation in her own air void. It took her at least three or four hours to die. I could have had her out of that car 25 minutes after I got the call. But [Kennedy] didn’t call.”
               During the “investigation” in the days that followed her death, Kennedy issued a statement that he left the party as a favor to Kopechne, because as he put it, “she was desirous of leaving, if I would be kind enough to drop her back at her hotel.” But Kopechne didn’t tell any of the other Boiler Room Girls that she was leaving, and she left her purse and hotel key at the party house.
               On July 25, after a lot of political machinations, Kennedy appeared at Edgartown courthouse and pleaded guilty to “leaving the scene of an accident.” His family attorneys argued that any jail sentence should be suspended. Nobody was shocked when the prosecutors and Judge James Boyle agreed, and Kennedy’s two-month incarceration sentence, the statutory minimum, was suspended.
               At 7:30 that evening, Kennedy delivered a prepared speech to a televised network audience. In his remarks, he claimed to the nation that there was “no truth whatever to the widely circulated suspicions of immoral conduct,” that he “was not driving under the influence of liquor,” and that he had “all kinds of scrambled thoughts” including “whether some awful curse actually did hang over all the Kennedys.”
               But it wasn’t the “Kennedy curse” in this case, it was the curse Teddy Kennedy.
               He then looked into the camera and said in third person, with all the sincerity of a generationally seasoned method actor:
               “If at any time the citizens of Massachusetts should lack confidence in their senator’s character or his ability, with or without justification, he could not in my opinion adequately perform his duties and should not continue in office.”
               He concluded, “The opportunity to work with you and serve Massachusetts has made my life worthwhile. So I ask you tonight, the people of Massachusetts, to think this through with me. In facing this decision, I seek your advice and opinion. In making it I seek your prayers.”
               Kennedy’s faux appeal for prayers notwithstanding, apparently, his life was more “worthwhile” than that of Mary Jo.
               Following his remarks, predictably the dynasty’s sycophantic devotees showered him with support.
               Notably, a week after the conclusion of the inquest and the suspended sentence, Leslie Leland, foreman of the grand jury convened to consider Kennedy’s crime, told the local Vineyard Gazette, “I think that we were manipulated and I think that we were blocked from doing our job, and if you want to use the term cover-up, then okay, that’s what it was. … There seem to be two sets of rules and justices that are doled out — one for the rich and powerful, and one for the regular people, for you and me.” He later gave a televised interview about the coverup.
               As previously noted, Massachusetts Demos handed Kennedy a landslide re-election in 1970, a year after Mary Jo’s death.
               However, in 1980, despite Kennedy’s command over Massachusetts voters, Democrats across the nation rejected his presidential challenge to then-incumbent Jimmy Carter, who was then resoundingly defeated that November by Ronald Reagan.
               But Kennedy would have his revenge. Between 2004 and 2008, Ted Kennedy and his Massachusetts leftist understudy,  hanoi-John Kerry, were most directly responsible for elevating an unknown community organizer, Barack liar-nObama, to the presidency.
               The systemic Teflon shield that Kennedy perfected has endured well beyond his death, as is evident in the near-ascension to the presidency of liar-Hillary Clinton, the party’s profoundly corrupt 2016 nominee.
               Among the disgraceful Bay State memorials to Teddy is the $38 million taxpayer-funded Kennedy Institute in Boston.
               Astoundingly, the Democrat Party and its MSM propaganda machine are now trying to revive the Kennedy dynasty by promoting Rep. Joe Kennedy III, Ted Kennedy’s great-nephew, to national status. Recall that it was this latest iteration of the dullard Kennedy clan who droned on through a dry response to Donald Trump’s 2018 State of the Unionaddress. Trump’s address that night was titled “Our New American Moment,” but there’s nothing new about Joe Kennedy. Oh, and about that “open beer” addendum…
               Unlike Ted Kennedy, on another Friday summer’s eve when I was working on the island a few years after his DUI manslaughter subterfuge, I WAS arrested and JAILED by the Edgartown police on an alcohol charge. That arrest was in connection with defending my older sister’s honor after some local jerk yelled at her when she was crossing a town street — very pregnant with her first child and with her leashed lab puppy.
               Later that evening, the same jerk cruised slowly down the dirt alley by my sister’s little rental house — and I spotted him from her side yard. Of course, I yelled the same words at him he had yelled at her earlier that day. That was followed by a chorus of the same words from the cottage windows, compliments of a few of her husband’s ice hockey teammates.
               The offender slammed on his car brakes and backed up to the yard gate where I was standing (with a Black Label beer in my hand — I was 18 and of legal age then). He jumped from his vehicle and stormed by me into the house, where there was a verbal confrontation. He then exited by me through the gate.
               We had a few “words,” at which time he grabbed my right arm. I was 6'4" and weighed well over two bills — in response, I slung my arm around, connecting my elbow with his face, and putting him on his, uh, rear. It was only then, as he was getting up from the ground, that “the jerk” pulled a badge from his back pocket, identified himself as an Edgartown police officer, and arrested me for having an “open alcohol container in public.” (I should note here that he shoved me into “public” on his exit through the gate.)
               He called for backup, put me in the back seat of his unmarked car and, much to the distress of my sister, off her younger brother went to be booked and locked up in the old Edgartown jail. Soon thereafter, the aforementioned hockey players showed up under the open jail window in the cell I was occupying, and as they were full of Black Label beer themselves, began serenading me with a spiritual — “Swing Low Sweet Chariot.” They were more amused than was I.
               Soon thereafter, I was released from jail with an order to appear in the old courthouse the following week for sentencing — the same courthouse where Kennedy’s sentence had been suspended.
               I arrived for that hearing with my key witness, my sweet expecting sister, who, from the witness stand, tearfully delivered her emotional account of being verbally assaulted by the arresting officer on the day of my incarceration. “Tearfully” is the key word here.
               I knew the winds of justice were turning in my favor when the judge turned to the arresting officer and scornfully asked, “Is this true? Did you yell at this young woman in the middle of our town, and call her a ‘—k’?” He admitted he had and … case dismissed.
               Apparently in Edgartown, it all boils down to how much justice one can afford, or how many tears a young expectant mother can shed!
               For the record, later that week I put my Chevy truck on the two-car barge for the one-minute ride from Edgartown to Chappaquiddick. Late that night, I drove out to Dike Bridge with friends and successfully crossed without incident. That was before the guardrails had been installed and when there was still clear evidence of the damage done to the bridge by the undercarriage of Kennedy’s car as it plunged over the side.

Syrian media: Explosions at largest Iranian base in Syria

{ jpost.com } ~ Mixed and contradictory reports emerged from Syria Saturday night over a mystery blast that rocked an Iranian base located on the outskirts of Aleppo... The initial reports coming out of Syrian media was that the base was hit by unidentified aircraft, with some reports attributing the attack to Israel. Later, reports said that the explosion was caused by an accident at the facility. The Iranian base, located in the Jabal Azzan region south of Aleppo, is the largest in the country. In America, the Holocaust Is Losing Its Shock Factor 

by Jordan Candler:  Some Americans joined Israel and its allies Thursday in solemnly observing Holocaust Remembrance Day. To commemorate it, the White House issued a proclamation in which the president “hereby ask[s] the people of the United States to observe the Days of Remembrance of Victims of the Holocaust, April 12 through April 19, 2018, and the solemn anniversary of the liberation of Nazi death camps, with appropriate study, prayers and commemoration, and to honor the memory of the victims of the Holocaust and Nazi persecution by internalizing the lessons of this atrocity so that it is never repeated.”

               That last part — “so that it is never repeated” — is particularly noteworthy. We noted already that only some Americans commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day. As it turns out, the Holocaust is slowly losing its shock factor among Americans. According to The New York Times, “For seven decades, ‘never forget’ has been a rallying cry of the Holocaust remembrance movement. But a survey released Thursday, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, found that many adults lack basic knowledge of what happened — and this lack of knowledge is more pronounced among millennials, whom the survey defined as people ages 18 to 34.”
               All told, 31% of Americans — a number that jumps 10 percentage points among Millennials — are under the impression that Jewish victims numbered about two million, which is one-third of the true total of six million. Furthermore, the Times reveals, “Forty-one percent of Americans, and 66 percent of millennials, cannot say what Auschwitz was. Only 39 percent of Americans know that Hitler was democratically elected.”
               These revelations are partly due to anti-Jewish hostility, particularly on the Left. They’re also due to our failed education system, which glosses over certain aspects of history. Granted, the Times adds: “Despite the gaps in the respondents’ knowledge, the study found an overwhelming consensus — 93 percent — that all students should learn about the Holocaust at school. And Holocaust denial remains very rare in the United States, with 96 percent of respondents saying they believe the genocide happened.” But the lesson is clearly losing its weightiness. And the less impactful atrocities become, the less inclined people are to “never forget.”
               That term also gets thrown around routinely when it comes to 9/11. But based on the vehement uproar leftists in America display when Republicans advocate policy prescriptions that would avert terrorist acts, it’s evident that the significance of that fateful day is also beginning to wane. That’s exactly how history repeats itself and how presumably safe societies end up, quite literally, on the ash heap of history.   ~The Patriot Post

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ According to the Swedish mainstream media, the country has experienced a significant rise in prosecutions for "hate speech" on social media last year... The organization believed to be largely responsible for this rise is "Näthatsgranskaren" "The Web Hate Investigator", a private organization founded in January 2017 by a former police officer, Tomas Åberg, who has taken it upon himself to identify and report to the authorities Swedish individuals whom he and his organization decide are committing thought crimes and "inciting hatred" against foreigners. Åberg's organization reported no fewer than 750 Swedish citizens in 2017 to the authorities for "web hate". According to Aftonbladet, 14% of the reported cases went on to prosecution of which about 7% -- 77 cases -- led to actual convictions. Most of the people identified and reported by the organization were middle aged and elderly ladies. Reining in the Unaccountable 'Deep State' 

by Michael Swartz:  Thanks to overuse and over-imagination, the term “deep state” has become somewhat cliché. But the term is still useful when it takes the threat of impeachment to pry lightly redacted information out of the Justice Department — a card that Rep. Devin Nunes had to play to get Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to cough up access to a two-page letter that was the linchpin of the entire Trump-Russia investigation. Worth noting: The material was originally requested last August. That’s the slowest of walks.

               There’s a second good point to be made about this, though, and former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy recently made it at National Review: Maybe the slow-walk is to protect Trump, or to create artificial tension to cover for a lack of legislative accomplishment.
               “Prosecutorial power is executive in nature,” wrote McCarthy. “Federal prosecutors therefore exercise the president’s power. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Special Counsel Robert Mueller have no power of their own; they exercise President Trump’s prosecutorial power for as long as that arrangement suits President Trump. The president does not need cause to fire them. He does not need to explain any dismissal to Congress — ‘Gee, it’s Thursday and I feel like firing someone’ is good enough.”
               Rosenstein and Mueller, though, make perfect foils for Trump, who seems to thrive when he can portray himself as fighting against a particular enemy. Enter “the deep state,” which works both as a foil to Trump and, as McCarthy implies, a useful took for him as well.
               But there are many in Trump’s administration who are truly swimming against the tide to make things better — and succeeding.
               Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, for example, is clearing away the deadwood of useless liar-nObama-era rules that targeted males accused of rape on campus, made restrooms unsafe for young girls, and encouraged schools to turn a blind eye toward violent acts perpetrated by children of certain races. Most important for all students, DeVos declared earlier this year that, “at the U.S. Department of Education, Common Core is dead.”
               Another example has been EPA head Scott Pruitt, who’s come under fire for picayune ethics questions about his choice of travel and lodging. Nate Jackson runs down the reasons why Pruitt’s really torquing the Left: “He stewarded the agency through the withdrawal from the Paris climate accord, rolled back Barack liar-nObama’s clean water and clean power regulations, cut costs by $1 billion, pushed through transparency reformson how the EPA uses science, and … scrapped liar-nObama’s vehicle-emissions rules.” That’s a solid record of accomplishment for a full term, let alone less than 14 months.
               And then there’s Mick Mulvaney’s tenure at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), where’s he’s been driving Democrat Sen. Elizabeth dinky-Warren up a wall. As Philip Wegmann describes it in the Washington Examiner, it’s a match of Mulvaney, who “hates the organization he leads, because it’s unaccountable to the people it governs,” against Warren, who “hates the organization she used to love, because it’s unaccountable to her and under [Mulvaney’s] control.”
               After dinky-Warren — frustrated that Mulvaney wouldn’t answer a 105-question diatribe of a letter outside of his scheduled congressional testimony — lashed out at Mulvaney for “hurting real people to score cheap political points,” Mulvaney chided Warren with a taunting comeback. “Prior to receiving your letter,” said Mulvaney, “I never would have thought to consider … whether your vote against repealing the bureau’s arbitration rule was influenced by campaign donations you may have received from trial lawyers or other parties who stood to gain financially from the rule. Perhaps I should reconsider.”
               Actually, dinky-Warren should be grateful that Mulvaney said anything. As he noted, thanks to the statute creating the CFPB, “I believe it would be my statutory right to just sit here and twiddle my thumbs while you all ask questions.” In other words, he’s not accountable to anyone by Democrat design.
               This bitter fight between Mulvaney and Warren is all part of his effort to place the heretofore barely accountable agency — which gets its funding from the Federal Reserve and, thus, doesn’t answer to Congress — under some sort of oversight and control. Democrats simply can’t stand a federal agency steeped in “bureaucratic fiat and administrative absolutism” being held to heel by a Republican.
               And that may be the beauty of having the Trump-Mueller imbroglio dominating the airwaves: A lot of good stuff is happening behind the scenes, and the press that would normally circle the wagons to “save” the Department of Education, EPA or CFPB is being distracted by the shiny object of Robert Mueller’s  interminable investigation of Trump. Chalk one up for the swamp drainers.

On April 3rd 2018, Barry Donadio stated that he would not support any moves to make Queen Anne’s County, Maryland a sanctuary county for illegal immigrants.

Barry Donadio is a Candidate for Commissioner of Queen Anne’s County Maryland that strongly opposes sactuary cities in the United States.

Donadio said that he wanted to set the record strait on where he stands against sanctuary cities.

“Queen Anne’s County will not become a sactuary county on my watch”, said Donadio.

Donadio said that there aren't any sactuary cities for Americans in other countries and he questions why there would be sactuary cities in the United States for illegal aliens to seek refuge.

Donadio said he would vote against any move towards a sanctuary status that crosses his desk.

“I do believe that there should be a path for those seeking citizenship such as military service or academic service to the United States. “ Donadio commented.

Donadio had an extensive law enforcement career that included the United States Secret Service. He is a supporter of immigration enforcement in Queen Anne’s County.

I am a proud American of Hispanic/Native American (aka: Genizaro) origin/decent that served his Country/Republic honorably as a Marine Mustang officer for twenty (20) years and am also proud to state that my immediate family is a multi-cultural family. I have been doing my own relentless digging and/or research on this very issue for approximately ten (10) years, which I have documented on this and numerous other blogs, and have come to the conclusion that these individuals behind the transformation of America into a one-world socialist government (NWO), as revealed in the above thought-provoking article by Brandon Smith titled “How the globalism con game leads to a ‘new world order,’ which I totally agree with, are predominantly narcissistic sociopaths and/or psychopaths (globalists, which I believe includes puppet Obama) that: 1) are prone to fabricating all kinds of high minded ideals to provide cover for their actions, which I believe includes racial, class and religious propaganda specifically used as a  means to divide us (e.g., Obama did a lot of damage in eight years in terms of race, class and religion in America, etc.); 2) will adopt a host of seemingly noble causes to rationalize their scramble for power, but in the end these ‘humanitarians’ only care about imposing their will on as many people as possible and feeding off them for as long as time allows; and, 3) make many false promises, misrepresentations and fraudulent conceptions surrounding the narrative of globalism, which are rather clever/subversive and are often difficult to pick out in the deliberately created fog and their schemes involved in the process of implementing globalism (NWO) are designed to confuse the masses with crisis, which I also believe include false flags (e.g., 9/11 and, if need be, WAR, etc.), as revealed above, until the masses end up asking for more centralization and less freedom. { townhall.com } ~ While congresscritters expressed outrage at Facebook's intrusive data grabs during Capitol Hill hearings with Mark Zuckerberg this week, not a peep was heard about the Silicon Valley-Beltway theft ring purloining the personal information and browsing habits of millions of American schoolchildren.

It doesn't take undercover investigative journalists to unmask the massive privacy invasion enabled by educational technology and federal mandates. The kiddie data heist is happening out in the open -- with Washington politicians and bureaucrats as brazen co-conspirators.

Facebook is just one of the tech giants partnering with the U.S. Department of Education and schools nationwide in pursuit of student data for meddling and profit. Google, Apple, Microsoft, Pearson, Knewton, and many more are cashing in on the Big Data boondoggle. State and federal educational databases provide countless opportunities for private companies exploiting public schoolchildren subjected to annual assessments, which exploded after adoption of the tech industry-supported Common Core "standards," tests, and aligned texts and curricula.

The recently passed Every Student Succeeds Act further enshrined government collection of personally identifiable information -- including data collected on attitudes, values, beliefs and dispositions -- and allows release of the data to third-party contractors thanks to liar-nObama-era loopholes carved into the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act.

And the so-called school-to-work pipeline creates endless avenues into taxpayer coffers for firms pitching data-gathering initiatives to "align" student learning with "skill sets" and "competencies" desired by corporations.

Facebook, for example, joined with the Department of Education's federally sponsored Digital Promise initiative last fall to develop a system of "micro-credentialing" badges for adult students in digital marketing. You can be sure it's not merely out of benevolence and public interest that Zuckerberg's empire is training thousands of these students to learn "Social Media Marketing Basics," "Marketing with Facebook Pages," "Marketing with Facebook Ads" and "Marketing with Instagram."

As parent and educational privacy advocate Cheri Kiesecker reported, the Facebook/Digital Promise partnership is "a wonderful data collection and marketing tool for Facebook and the US Department of Ed, but it is incredibly alarming for students' privacy and security."

Facebook is on the march from luring adult students into its orbit to encroaching on secondary and elementary school-age users through its Messenger Kids app and "whole-child personalized learning" programs funded through the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. CZI, a "philanthropic investment company" funded with up to $1 billion in Facebook shares over the next three years, is headed by Jim Shelton. He's a former program officer at the Gates Foundation and a key Common Core champion in the liar-nObama administration.

"Personalized learning" is an edutech buzz phrase for hijacking the classroom and hooking students and teachers on branded software and hardware -- iPads, smartboards, computerized portfolios, homework apps, you name it -- without any evidence that such shiny objects improve academic performance.

Under the guise of customizable assessments, public and private preschools in Colorado experimented with toddlers whose student activities and social/emotional behaviors were tracked using the TS Gold (Teaching Strategies Gold) system -- funded with $30 million in Race to the Top subsidies under the liar-nObama administration. As I reported in 2014, parent Lauren Coker discovered that TS Gold assessors in her son's Aurora, Colorado, public preschool had recorded information about his trips to the bathroom, his hand-washing habits and his ability to pull up his pants.

Sunny Flynn, a mom with kids in Jefferson County, Colorado, asked all the right questions: "What security measures are being used to protect this data? Who exactly has access to this data? How long will the data be stored? What is the proven benefit of a kindergarten teacher putting all of this data into a database?"

With little public oversight, Google has infiltrated schools through its "free" Google Apps for Education suite. As I've reported previously, Google is building brand loyalty through its questionable certification program that essentially turns teachers into tax-subsidized lobbyists for the company. GAFE enrollees are "trained" on Google products, earn certification, and then open up consultancy businesses and bill their school districts (i.e., the public) to hawk Google's suite of products to other colleagues.

And this week, 23 parent and watchdog groups filed a complaint with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission alleging that Google is violating child protection laws by collecting personal data of and advertising to those aged under 13.

Over the past four years, Google has admitted "scanning and indexing" student email messages sent using GAFE and data mining student users for commercial gain when they use their accounts for noneducational purposes. Google can collect student/family data to target ads through related services outside the GAFE suite, such as YouTube for Schools, Blogger and Google Plus. These are not covered under the already watered-down federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

Under the liar-nObama years, Grand Canyon-sized loopholes in federal student and family privacy protections opened data mining to third-party private entities. Those have yet to be closed by the Trump administration. Why not? It's time to drain the student data-mining swamp and their facilitators in Washington. For the children.

{ city-journal.org } ~ Amid a national debate about due process and fairness in campus Title IX adjudications, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg recently observed... “there’s been criticism of some college codes of conduct for not giving the accused person a fair opportunity to be heard, and that’s one of the basic tenets of our system, as you know: everyone deserves a fair hearing.” Few academics have more powerfully made these criticisms than Northwestern University professor Laura Kipnis, whose 2015 Chronicle of Higher Education essay lambasting Title IX’s application to campus sexual-assault and harassment allegations prompted a university Title IX investigation—against Kipnis herself. Though Kipnis was exonerated, the investigation was a form of punishment, since professors normally aren’t questioned by lawyers hired by their school as the result of publishing in their area of expertise. The experience prompted Kipnis to write  Unwanted Advances: Sexual Paranoia Comes to Campus, which explores how Title IX has come to threaten the rights not only of accused students but also of faculty. One chapter of Unwanted Advances took readers inside a Northwestern University sexual-assault and harassment hearing against philosophy professor Peter Ludlow. Though the university cleared Ludlow of his sexual-assault charges, it found him guilty of sexual harassment, and he resigned. { townhall.com } ~ With his Sunday tweet that Bashar Assad, "Animal Assad," ordered a gas attack on Syrian civilians, and Vladimir Putin was morally complicit in the atrocity, President Donald Trump just painted himself and us into a corner.

"Many dead, including women and children, in mindless CHEMICAL attack in Syria," tweeted Trump, "President Putin, Russia and Iran are responsible for backing Animal Assad. Big price... to pay."

"Big price... to pay," said the president.

Now, either Trump launches an attack that could drag us deeper into a seven-year civil war from which he promised to extricate us last week, or Trump is mocked as being a man of bluster and bluff.

For Trump Sunday accused Barack liar-nObama of being a weakling for failing to strike Syria after an earlier chemical attack.

"If President liar-nObama had crossed his stated Red Line In The Sand," Trump tweeted, "the Syrian disaster would have ended long ago! Animal Assad would have been history!"

Trump's credibility is now on the line and he is being goaded by the war hawks to man up. Sunday, rino-John McCain implied that Trump's comments about leaving Syria "very soon" actually "emboldened" Assad:

"President Trump last week signaled to the world that the United States would prematurely withdraw from Syria. Bashar Assad and his Russian and Iranian backers have heard him, and emboldened by American inaction, Assad has reportedly launched another chemical attack against innocent men, women and children, this time in Douma."

Pronouncing Assad a "war criminal," Lindsey Graham said Sunday the entire Syrian air force should be destroyed.

So massive an attack would be an act of war against a nation that has not attacked us and does not threaten us. Hence, Congress, prior to such an attack, should pass a resolution authorizing a U.S. war on Syria.

And, as Congress does, it can debate our objectives in this new war, and how many men, casualties and years will be required to defeat the coalition of Syria, Russia, Hezbollah, Iran, and the allied Shiite militias from the Near East.

On John Bolton's first day as national security adviser, Trump is being pushed to embrace a policy of Cold War confrontation with Russia and a U.S. war with Syria. Yet candidate Trump campaigned against both.

The War Party that was repudiated in 2016 appears to be back in the saddle. But before he makes good on that threat of a "big price... to pay," Trump should ask his advisers what comes after the attack on Syria.

Lest we forget, there was a reason liar-nObama did not strike Syria for a previous gas attack. Americans rose up as one and said we do not want another Middle East war.

When hanoi-John Kerry went to Capitol Hill for authorization, Congress, sensing the national mood, declined to support any such attack.

Trump's strike, a year ago, with 59 cruise missiles, on the air base that allegedly launched a sarin gas attack, was supported only because Trump was new in office and the strike was not seen as the beginning of a longer and deeper involvement in a war Americans did not want to fight.

Does Trump believe that his political base is more up for a major U.S. war in Syria today than it was then?

The folks who cheered Trump a week ago when he said we were getting out of Syria, will they cheer him if he announces that we are going deeper in?

Before any U.S. attack, Trump should make sure there is more hard evidence that Assad launched this poison gas attack than there is that Russia launched that poison gas attack in Salisbury, England.

One month after that attack, which Prime Minister Theresa May ascribed to Russia and Foreign Minister Boris Johnson laid at the feet of Putin himself, questions have arisen:

If the nerve agent used, Novichok, was of a military variety so deadly it could kill any who came near, why is no one dead from it?

Both the target, Sergei Skripal, and his daughter Yulia are recovering.

If the deadly poison was, as reported, put on the doorknob of Skripal's home, how did he and Yulia manage to go to a restaurant after being contaminated, with neither undergoing a seizure until later on a park bench?

If Russia did it, why are the British scientists at Porton Down now admitting that they have not yet determined the source of the poison?

Why would Putin, with the prestige of hosting the World Cup in June on the line, perpetrate an atrocity that might have killed hundreds and caused nations not only to pull out of the games, but to break diplomatic relations with Russia?

U.S. foreign policy elites claim Putin wanted Trump to win the 2016 election. But if Putin indeed wanted to deal with Trump, why abort all such prospects with a poison gas murder of a has-been KGB agent in Britain, America's foremost ally?

The sole beneficiaries of the gas attacks in Salisbury and Syria appear to be the War Party.

The action was said to be in response to their alleged use of chemical weapons to attack innocent civilians in the remaining terrorist stronghold of Douma. President Trump said in his address that that attack was a significant escalation in a pattern of chemical weapons’ use by that very terrible regime. Pulosi six years ago opined that unemployment liberated Americans to become photographers or writers or musicians – unemployment was an opportunity for those lucky enough to lose their jobs. Who Will Investigate the Investigators? 

by Arnold Ahlert:  On Monday, the idea that the probe being conducted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller is about “Russian collusion” was revealed to be utterly fraudulent. Despite ongoing cooperation by President Donald Trump and his personal attorney, Michael Cohen, the latter man’s office, home and hotel room were raided by the FBI. In short, the investigation into Russian collusion has expanded to what it was most likely about from the beginning: getting Trump — by any means necessary.

               Attorney Alan Dershowitz, progressive idol-turned-pariah due to his penchant for embracing intellectual honesty over ideological demagoguery, put it best. “If this were liar-Hillary Clinton, the ACLU would be on every TV station in America jumping up and down,” he asserted. “The deafening silence of the ACLU and civil libertarians about the intrusion into the lawyer-client confidentiality is really appalling.” Later on, he called that intrusion unconstitutional.
               Dershowitz insisted Mueller is staying within the confines of the Russian collusion case parameters and “farming out” what appears to be an effort to investigate Cohen for “bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign finance violations, according to three people with knowledge of the case,” as The Washington Post reports (or is that leaks?). Nonetheless, those parameters are the epitome of a double standard that may rank as one of the most egregious in the nation’s history.
               If this investigation is really about Russian collusion, where are the commensurate raids and/or executions of search warrants against Perkins Coie attorney Marc E. Elias, who represented the liar-Clinton campaign and the DNC, as well as retained Fusion GPS, which compiled the infamous Steele dossier? Where are indictments similar to the ones leveled at Paul Manafort and Rick Gates — indictments that fall completely outside the aforementioned Russian collusion parameters — of people like liar-Clinton campaign chief John Podesta? Podesta sat on the board of Russian energy company Joule Unlimited, which obtained $35 million from a Russian government fund linked to Vladimir Putin.
               Where are the commensurate investigations ofliar-nObama administration officials, including former Attorney General scum-Eric Holder, then-U.S. Attorney Rod Rosenstein, then-Assistant FBI Director Andrew McCabe, the liar-Clinton Foundation and then-FBI Director Robert Mueller himself for their involvement in allowing the transfer of one-fifth of our nation’s uranium supply to Russian company Rosatom, even as they knew the deal was corrupted by bribes and kickback schemes, courtesy of the FBI’s own informant?
               How is it that the same FBI allowed liar-Clinton aides Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson to claim attorney-client privilege and get side deals limiting the search of their computers to include nothing after January 2015 — preventing a review of documents related to liar-Clinton’s email server — along with an agreement to destroy those computers when the agency was done, even though both women were witnesses to, or suspects in, liar-Clinton’s criminal investigation? Why wasn’t liar-Clinton aide Huma Abedin’s home raided when classified emails showed up on husband Anthony Weiner’s computer? Why hasn’t former AG Loretta Lynch been investigated for her meeting with liar-Bill Clinton in the midst of the criminal probe against his wife?
               Where are the investigations of Susan Rice, John Brennan and Samatha Power over their potentially illegal unmasking of hundreds of Americans?
               “Mueller and his gang have weaponized the criminalized justice system,” assertsattorney Victoria Toensing. “These no-knock raids that were done on his personal lawyer’s house and offices — those kind of tactics are reserved for dope dealers and terrorists.”
               The American Left, suffused with dreams of ultimately removing Trump from office, couldn’t care less.
               “A search warrant for a law office is extremely rare,” explains New York University School of Law professor Stephen Gillers. “Lawyers are given the courtesy of producing documents in response to a subpoena or a request unless the government believes a lawyer will destroy or conceal the objects of the search.”
               Or unless a rogue prosecutor is attempting to intimidate a sitting president.
               When the investigation falls outside the original mandate, getting such a warrant requires the approval of top DOJ officials, including Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.
               What was Rosenstein’s original mandate? According to National Review’s Andrew McCarthy, it was one that “violated governing special-counsel regulations” because such an appointment requires a criminal investigation and the order “disclosed no basis for a criminal investigation and indicated no crimes that had allegedly been committed.”
               Rosenstein “fixed” this by issuing an expanded order 10 weeks after the original one, accompanied by an explanation McCarthy characterizes as “not very convincing, and the extensively redacted form in which it has been released means the memo raises more questions than it answers.”
                So does the damning reality that Mueller conduced his raid of Paul Manafort’s home a full week before Rosenstein issued his original memo. As Cornell Law School professor William A. Jacobson points out, that timing “shows a willingness to give post hoc justification for conduct of Mueller that does not appear authorized by the text of the original May 17 appointing Order.”
               The raid conducted against Cohen purportedly centers on a $130,000 payoff to Stephanie Clifford, a.k.a. Stormy Daniels, to maintain her silence about an extra-marital affair with the president, because such a payoff constitutes an illegal campaign contribution. In 2008, the liar-nObama campaign collected $1.3 million in illegal campaign donations, and despite the fact that those violations could be treated as felonies, the matter was settled quietly with the payment of a $375,000 fine.
               Nonetheless, while McCarthy points out that illegal campaign donations are trivial compared to Russian collusion, he warns, “When highly aggressive prosecutors are circling, any kind of something is always more perilous than nothing.”
               “Any kind of something” has transcended anything resembling Mueller’s original mandate, eviscerating attorney-client privilege in the process. It is an investigation engendered by the same officials who have allowed Peter Strzok and Lisa Page to remain on the payroll and retain their security clearances, despite anti-Trump bias documented by thousands of emails.
               Emails the FBI insists will take three years to “process” before the agency can satisfy an FOIA lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch.
               Columnist Michael Goodwin asserts it’s “time to clear the air of rumor and speculation and put the facts on the record.” A headline in The Hill suggests why that is wishful thinking. “Mueller will drop midterm Russia bombshells on GOP Congress,” it states. Meanwhile, it took threats of contempt and impeachment from House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes to convince FBI Director Christopher Wray and Rosenstein to stop stonewalling and hand over documents that could reveal Mueller’s investigation was based substantially, or entirely, on fraudulently obtained FISA court warrants.
               There’s a midterm election to influence and the Rule of Law be damned.
               “Mueller needs to be removed,” writes columnist Daniel Greenfield. “This investigation needs to be shut down and replaced with a credible investigation into what the Russians actually did and didn’t do, rather than a pretext for bringing down political opponents.”
               More wishful thinking. There are substantial numbers of Americans, including members of both political parties, who have far less interest in credibility than reasserting the ruling class status quo Trump disrupted — even if the Constitution is shredded in the process.
               And once again, in the midst of all these machinations, the age-old question — one usually attached to authoritarian regimes — arises:
               Who investigates the investigators?
