{ /rickwells.us } ~ Senator Charles Grassley is the embodiment of the kind of do-nothing, tottering old fools that have infested the Republican Party... and which permit the globalist Democrats and establishment thugs to run all them over.  He’s like an unarmed cop holding up his hand and blowing a whistle to stop a terrorist. He’s useless and isn’t handling things with the sense of urgency the deserve. Judge Jeanine is polite but asks questions that expose the simpleton for what he is. She asks what he thinks about the letter to AG Jeff Sessions from eleven Republican House Members, calling for him to investigate Crooked liar-Hillary, Comey, McCabe, Lynch and others. She says, “Here we are, almost a year and a half into the Trump administration and they’re still asking Sessions to do what they’ve been asking him to do for almost a year.” He plays dumb, or maybe he’s not really playing at all, saying, “I wouldn’t be surprised that some of that might be going on and we don’t really know about it, because of the traditions within the Justice Department and the FBI not to talk about ongoing investigations.” He says everybody involved in law enforcement should follow the facts where they take them...

FEC Sued for Ignoring

{ punchingbagpost.com } ~ A pro-Trump PAC is suing the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for ignoring its complaint regarding a money laundering scheme... that allowed liar-Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign to bypass legal donation limits. In a complaint filed last December, the Committee to Defend the President (CDP) claimed the liar-Hillary Victory Fund instructed big-name donors to send money to state parties, which would send that money to the DNC. In some cases, the entire transaction took less than 24 hours. This method enabled deep-pocketed donors to circumvent federal campaign donation limits by sending money to state and local organizations rather than donating directly to liar-Clinton, even though the money ended up going back to her campaign. The FEC in December said it received the CDP’s complaint and would conduct an investigation, but, like most crimes involving Crooked liar-H, nothing happened...  http://punchingbagpost.com/fec-sued-for-ignoring-clinton-dnc-money-laundering-operation/?pb_list=pb_list

{ timesofisrael.com } ~ The head of the Iranian army on Saturday said Iranian forces were working to “annihilate” Israel... and predicted they would achieve success within 25 years. The threats from the Commander of Iran’s Army Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi come amid almost daily warnings of conflict from Tehran and Jerusalem, heightened by an alleged Israeli strike on an Iranian base in Syria earlier in the month. “When the arrogant powers create a sanctuary for the Zionist regime to continue survival, we shouldn’t allow one day to be added to the ominous and illegitimate life of this regime,” Mousavi told a ceremony in Tehran on Saturday, according to the Fars news agency...  https://www.timesofisrael.com/as-iran-threatens-to-annihilate-israel-hezbollah-boast-of-reach-of-rockets/?utm_source=The+Times+of+Israel+Daily+Edition&utm_campaign=b8cfcd7a03-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_04_22&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_adb46cec92-b8cfcd7a03-54638825

{ timesofisrael.com } ~ Despite rising tensions and mutual warnings traded between Tehran and Jerusalem in recent weeks... Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said in an interview to be aired Sunday on American television that he did not believe the two countries were “headed towards regional war” “I do not believe that we are headed towards regional war but I do believe that unfortunately, Israel has continued its violations with international law, hoping to be able to do it with impunity because of the US support and trying to find smokescreens to hide behind,” Zarif told CBS’s “Face the Nation.” “And I do not believe that the smokescreens work anymore,” he said, according to a transcript released ahead of the screening. But he stressed that Israel was escalating tensions “by violating Syrian airspace, by violating Syrian territory… on a routine basis.”... What the hell is Iran doing in Syria anyway.

{ freedomsback.com } ~ There have been a lot of questions about why Trump fired James Comey, ever since he announced to NBC’s Lester Holt — incomprehensibly — that it was his decision, citing, by my count, at least a half-dozen different reasons.

On Sunday night, that question was answered. We all owe a debt of gratitude to Comey for showing the American people why he was so badly in need of firing.

Interviewed on his new book, “A Higher Loyalty,” it quickly became apparent that one of Comey’s favorite formulations is: I honestly never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but I don’t know whether so-and-so sodomized a chicken. It’s possible. I don’t know.

Here he is on ABC News, accusing Trump of hiring prostitutes to urinate on a hotel bed in Moscow possibly — I don’t know:

“I honestly never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but I don’t know whether the current president of the United States was with prostitutes peeing on each other in Moscow in 2013. It’s possible, but I don’t know.”

And here he is on ABC accusing Trump of colluding with Russia:

“More words I never thought I’d utter about a president of the United States — but it’s possible that he is compromised by Russia. It is stunning, and I wish I wasn’t saying it, but it’s just — it’s the truth. … It’s possible.”

And here he is being interviewed by USA Today on Russian influence:

“I don’t know if President Trump has been compromised by the Russians. And these are words I never thought would come out of my mouth about an American president, but it’s possible. I’m not saying it’s likely, I don’t know, and the honest answer is it’s possible.”

None of this says anything about the president. It tells us only that Comey has a low opinion of Trump, which I already knew.

But ABC’s George Stephanopoulos replied to one of Comey’s “it’s possible” formulations, saying: “That’s stunning. You can’t say for certain that the president of the United States is not compromised by the Russians?”

It’s not “stunning.” It’s a sleight of hand. Ask me to give you my odds that Hillary Clinton eats small children for breakfast. IT’S STUNNING! COULTER SAYS 1 PERCENT CHANCE!

HERE’S ANOTHER: I honestly never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but I can’t say that James Comey was not a transvestite prostitute in Laredo, Texas, for 20 years, turning tricks at $5 a customer. I cannot say that. It’s possible.

Comey says that based on his years of experience in “the criminal investigation business,” the fact that the prostitute story bothered Trump so much suggested that it was true.

“Trump’s continuing focus on it surprised me,” he said. “When someone constantly brings up to deny something you’re not asking about, that’s an interesting fact. I think I put in the book the proverb, ‘Only the guilty flee where no man pursues.’ And so that struck me.”

1) Bringing up the prostitute story a handful of times hardly constitutes a neurotic fixation. CNN has brought it up 1,583,749,996 times. Trump has brought up the size of his inaugural crowd more frequently.

2) I don’t find it particularly suspicious that someone would be obsessed with the one accusation that could do him the most damage. Name one other thing in the dossier that anyone knows about. The prostitutes peeing on the bed is the weirdest — it stands out. I can see both a guilty man and an innocent man fixating on that story.

Comey only sees the guilty man.

Speaking of neurotic obsessions, I couldn’t help but notice that Comey is obsessed with telling us how ethical he is. In the ABC interview alone, Comey used the word “truth” 42 times; “honest” 28 times, “ethical” 10 times — “integrity,” “principle” and “moral” at least five times apiece.

That’s more than I hear in church on Sunday, and the preacher isn’t taking about himself.

Comey’s talking about himself.

“The lesson I’ve learned,” he said, “is that … it helps you see things more clearly and realize things like truth matters, integrity matters. Those ethical values are what are going to last. And when you have to explain what you’ve done someday to your grandchildren, that’s what will matter. Your grandkids won’t understand that people — angry at me, or the vice president of the United States was telling me people were going to die because of me. What they’ll want to know is, ‘What was your North Star?'”

The “Real Housewives” engage in less self-referential preening.

Comey even takes the time to tell us that other people think he’s a pillar of integrity, too! For our edification, he recalled liar-nObama telling him: “‘I appointed you to be FBI director because of your integrity and your ability.’ And then he looked me in the eye” — had he been staring at Comey’s crotch? — “and he said, ‘Nothing has happened, nothing, in the last year that has changed my view of that.'”

I honestly never thought these words would come out of my mouth, but I don’t know whether the former director of the FBI carries 8-by-10 glossies of himself wherever he goes. It’s possible. I don’t know.

{ rickwells.us } ~ After observing that he doesn’t remember anything blowing up on anyone the way Jim Comey’s book tour has blown up... on the disgraced former FBI Director, Brian Kilmeade asks Mark Levin, “What’s this book tour doing for Comey and this investigation?” The investigation in question is the criminal referral against Comey’s former deputy, Andrew McCabe. Levin says, “He’s done enormous damage to himself. He’s exposing himself to the American people as a very petty, superficial man.” He describes Comey as “conducting himself like a complete Bozo the Clown” who is damaging the FBI in the process. Levin reminds us that this guy was in charge of the FBI and his number two now has a criminal referral as well as the rampant criminal, treasonous political activity by Strzok, Page and others under his leadership. He details what he believes was an attempt by Comey to threaten to blackmail President Trump, which like the book tour, didn’t work out so well...  https://rickwells.us/levin-mueller-impeachment-fishing/.

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ President Trump might finally be ditching his urge to fire deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein... after spending months angrily venting to aides and members of his legal team about the widening scope of the Russia investigation. Questions surrounding Rosenstein’s fate have loomed large over the special counsel probe ever since it became clear that investigators were looking beyond possible collusion between Trump associates and Russia actors during the 2016 election and into financial and federal crimes committed by individuals in Trump’s orbit. In early April, following a raid on the hotel room and office of Trump’s longtime personal attorney Michael Cohen, the president insisted he and his legal team were “very calm and calculated” in their response to the incident. But behind the scenes, and later on Twitter, Trump lashed out at Rosenstein and special counsel Robert Mueller. The episode marked one of many public displays of frustration by Trump since his attorney general recused himself from the Russia inquiry last May, paving the way for the ongoing special counsel investigation...

{ rickwells.us } ~ The Democrat arrogance has once again emerged and resulted in what is a supremely stupid and self-injurious act... that invites serious consequences. Just as they invented a Russia collusion hoax to cover up their own dirty deeds, which is now coming back to haunt them, the Democrats, through the DNC, have sued President Trump’s campaign as a means of extending the narrative. The problem for them, and one they surely must have been aware of, is that they have opened the door for discovery and the acquisition of evidence against them. They really must be getting desperate, going for broke, as in the long run the knowledge of their crimes in the hands of their victims can only lead to more legal issues. Then again, perhaps they don’t anticipate there being a “long run.” A victory in the 2018 midterms with impeachment to follow immediately thereafter might be the objective that, in their determination, makes the prospect of a long-term consequence disappear...  https://rickwells.us/trump-servers-dnc-dws-dems/

It is now thought to be the “ticking time bomb” fault line and more dangerous than the San Andres. The scariest scenario for the next major earthquake may not be from the San Andreas Fault though that one still threatens, but from the Hayward Fault that runs along the east side of the San Francisco Bay. According to KTUV, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake along the Hayward Fault could kill as many as 800 people and injure 18,000, according to results of a new research released Wednesday. The wormy Reines claims that “the people who should be protecting us,” the ones who see the crimes the Democrats have committed, have abrogated their responsibility. by Judge Andrew Napolitano
{ townhall.com } ~ A few weeks ago, President Donald Trump was an outwardly happy man because of the utterance of one solitary word from the lips of special counsel Robert Mueller to one of Trump's lawyers. The word that thrilled the president and his legal team was "subject."

It seems that Mueller and one of Trump's lawyers had been negotiating the terms under which the president would submit to an informal interrogation by Mueller and his team of prosecutors and FBI agents. Mueller's request for such an interview was not unusual.

Investigators are usually looking to trap an unwary potential defendant into lying to them -- a crime in that environment, even though the potential defendant is not under oath -- or unwittingly admitting to them an allegation for which they need proof. The potential defendant often believes -- foolishly, as history has shown -- he can actually talk the investigators out of indicting him.

In preparation for this type of interview, the government often tells the lawyer for the person being interviewed whether that person is a witness, a subject or a target. A witness is a person whose knowledge and memory the government wishes to examine. A subject is a person whose behavior is under criminal investigation. A target is a person whom the government plans to indict.

When Trump and his team learned that he was just a subject and not a target, they rejoiced. And then, in a series of bizarre events, all hell broke loose, and his joy turned to gloom. Here is what happened.

In the course of its continuing investigation of Trump, Mueller's team came across evidence of criminal behavior on the part of Michael Cohen, Trump's longtime New York City lawyer. Because the evidence was related to activities that took place in New York City, Mueller sent the evidence to the chief federal prosecutor in Manhattan.

After a team of federal prosecutors there examined whatever Mueller brought them, in conjunction with what they already knew about Cohen, they applied to a federal judge for search warrants of venues where they believed Cohen kept files of his work. The search warrants were executed simultaneously at 5:30 in the morning two Mondays ago.

Cohen's lawyers then filed a motion that asked a federal judge to prevent the federal prosecutors in Manhattan from examining what the FBI seized -- enough to fill a small pickup truck -- arguing that it was Cohen's records of the legal work he had performed for his clients and thus was protected by the attorney-client privilege.

In opposition to Cohen's motion, federal prosecutors argued that Cohen and Trump have engaged in behavior together that may have been criminal or fraudulent and that they used the attorney-client privilege to mask their communications.

The federal prosecutors also argued that Cohen was not truly performing legal work for Trump; rather, they said, he was a fixer of Trump's image and a trickster to Trump's adversaries. Then they revealed that the source of their purported knowledge of the Trump-Cohen relationship was surveillance of Cohen, whose telephone calls, emails and text messages the feds had been capturing for months.

That means that federal prosecutors have overheard the president of the United States in telephone conversations he believed were protected by privilege, in which he was talking to a man under criminal investigation who he has said was his lawyer.

When all this came to a head this past Monday in the federal courtroom of Judge Kimba Wood, she confronted a legally unusual situation. Trump's lawyers demanded that everything seized from Cohen be turned over to Trump because he was and is -- as far as Trump knew -- Cohen's sole client.

Cohen claimed he has three clients, and he demanded that all that was seized be examined by a neutral special master to determine what is privileged and what is not. The prosecutors demanded that they have access to all that was seized, because the seizure had already been approved by another federal judge when he signed the search warrants that triggered the FBI's seizures.

Judge Wood ordered the FBI to copy all that was seized and send copies to lawyers for Trump and for Cohen and to federal prosecutors; and then the lawyers can argue to the court what is privileged and what is fair game for the prosecutors' use. In the course of those arguments, federal prosecutors will see what was seized, whether privileged or not.

The attorney-client privilege protects from scrutiny or revelation the confidential communications of a client to his lawyer that are integral to the lawyer's legal work for the client. The privilege does not apply to casual conversations between client and lawyer or if the lawyer is doing nonlegal work or if the client is committing a crime, a fraud, a tort or a regulatory violation and is consulting the lawyer about that.

Now we have a very perilous situation for the president. Records of whatever work Michael Cohen has been doing for him in the past 10 years will soon be in the custody of federal prosecutors who expect it to be evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the president himself. These are the best federal prosecutors in the country. They are civil service-protected and can only be fired for cause, and they have been listening to the president's phone calls to his confidant and "fixer" and will soon see the fixer's files.

Has Trump been in cahoots with a bad guy as federal prosecutors have alleged? Is this prosecutorial team in Manhattan more dangerous to Donald Trump than Mueller and his crew in Washington? Was evidence about Trump the real goal of those early-morning FBI raids? Is the president no longer just a subject and now a target of a new team of federal prosecutors? Who can safely confide in a lawyer after this?

{ rickwells.us } ~ Catherine Herridge was able to confirm that egomaniac James Comey, who can’t keep his mouth shut... despite him digging his legal jeopardy hole deeper every time he opens it, is in fact under criminal investigation by the same FBI that he used to head up. She states that it is an investigation by the Inspector General, but the IG is an internal affairs watchdog that has no authority to investigate former employees. Either Comey was never really fired, which is unlikely, or he is being investigated criminally by FBI agents. It may be being conducted under some sort of special assignment to review information uncovered by the IG, in which case, again, it’s a regular criminal investigation. She says the issues under review are his leaking of memos, mishandling of classified information, and communications with individuals outside of the FBI, including reporters...  https://rickwells.us/comey-fbi-investigation-matter/.

{ conservativeinstitute.org } ~ Trump’s pronouncement coincided with a meeting of OPEC and Russian oil producers in Saudi Arabia to discuss further production cuts... A 2016 agreement to cut back on oil production has driven up prices, which hit three-year highs this week. Heightened tensions in the Middle East and the economic collapse in Venezuela are also believed to be contributing factors. West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the primary domestic index, hit three-year highs of over $69 a barrel this week; international benchmark Brent crude hit its highest level in more than three years, trading above $73 as of Friday. Trump accused the cartel of oil-rich Arab states, OPEC, of pumping up oil prices. With plenty of oil “all over the place”, there is no reason for the prices to be so “artificially” high, he tweeted. The industry responded shortly after Trump fired off his tweet, with oil prices dropping...

DoJ: Manafort suspected as serving as 'back channel' to Russia
by Rick Moran

{ americanthinker.com } ~ Paul Manafort is going to jail.  He made millions of dollars working as a consultant to a pro-Russian Ukrainian political party... and didn't pay a dime in federal taxes. In fact, he sought to hide his money through an elaborate shell game of dummy corporations. But there has always been a question about why special counsel Robert Mueller was so interested in him. He is not being charged with any crime related to "Russian collusion" with the Trump campaign. For that matter, no one charged in the Muller probe so far is being accused of collusion with Russians to swing the election. Manafort sought to squash his indictment by claiming in a civil suit that Mueller did not have the authority to investigate his money-laundering and tax evasion. His defense team claims that Mueller's powers to investigate went only as far as looking into matters directly related to Russian collusion....

In setting up the interview David Asman asks what must be one of the dumbest questions he’s ever asked, albeit with full knowledge of what his response will be. He asked Chris Farrell of Judicial Watch, “Is the DOJ, despite the memos coming out, is the DOJ still protecting Jim Comey? Is there stuff that you still can’t get your hands on about Jim Comey?” Farrell replies, “Absolutely, I mean this is a living example of the deep state. This is sort of the Department of Justice still manned by an army of Sally Yateses, who are interested in preserving the institution, who are in sort of a hull defilade, hunkered down mode. Cuomo's Parolee Voting Decree: Good Politics, Bad Policy

Q1oXX35wcD1AIlAZSxBkT1EiHDy5s3La6ML7lu2HMS_x3Dgh5zOSdQ_DxDnhOCBt8izBr0TjXHXK8OX8YDMY7J4bXf7024qe2YIsfAdlIjRmqJCZg233BMJCq-QsWiHkWbl1-fanyiH3oD2AUPHaaeWjiEKxx9IdvqkljBBDtNE=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450by Jordan Candler:  Admitting that he’s “unwilling to take no for an answer,” New York Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo this week circumvented the state legislature by signing a dubious executive order authorizing voting rights for 35,000 parolees. The process is rather cumbersome, as The New York Times explains:
The mechanism through which Mr. Cuomo plans to do so is unusual: He would consider pardons for all 35,000 people currently on parole in New York, as well as any new convicted felons who enter the parole system each month. … Mr. Cuomo’s executive order would require the commissioner of the state’s Department of Corrections and Community Supervision to submit a list of every felon currently on parole, as well as a list of those newly eligible for parole, beginning May 1. … The commissioner would continue to submit an updated list each month, with each parolee “given consideration for a conditional pardon that will restore voting rights without undue delay,” according to the order.

The parolee-voting-rights concept is hardly novel. Numerous states have made it lawful for parolees to vote in elections. What’s disturbing in New York’s case (and others) is the process. Cuomo is governing through fiat because the state legislature isn’t comporting to his line of thinking. The Times reports that “the Republican-controlled Senate has opposed many of Mr. Cuomo’s proposed criminal justice reforms.” Fellow Democrat Gov. Terry McAuliffe of Virginia pulled the same thing (unlawfully at first).
But just because a governor is engaged in a policy war with lawmakers doesn’t justify ignoring the legislature. That’s a slippery slope that won’t lead anywhere good. Besides, there’s a strategic angle to Cuomo’s decision — wooing minority voters to overshadow Cynthia Nixon, an actress with hopes of replacing Cuomo as governor. But again, a strategy does not equal good policy.
Heritage Foundation fellows Hans von Spakovsky and Roger Clegg addressed the issue of felon voter rights in a recent column. They appropriately write:
It is precisely because such a high percentage of criminals who are released are so unimproved that they find their way back into prison (nationally, more than half) that it makes sense to wait some period of time, as Florida does, to make sure that the felon really has turned over a new leaf. After that period of time … then the felon could have the right to vote restored. It should be rather like a naturalization ceremony, at a courthouse with friends and family present to celebrate, some official making a nice speech, American flags, and the felon raising his right hand. Now that would be a way to incentivize the reintegration of the felon back into civil society.
The fact that our politicians play games with felon voters should at the very least compel these former prisoners to think twice about the people they support politically.   ~The Patriot Pos

These and other proposals were provided to Democratic taste-makers, and obtained by the Free Beacon, at the 2018 Democracy Alliance fall conference held this week in Atlanta. Attendees received copies of Everyone's Economy, a report from left-leaning public policy organization Demos. The organization is chaired by Amelia Warren Tyagi, daughter of Sen. Elizabeth dinky-Warren (D., Mass.), and funded by liberal billionaire scum-George Soros. The brief's stated goal is to outline "an economic agenda that places both race and class at the forefront," while responding to the populist appeals of President Donald Trump. { thenewamerican.com } ~ Federal biofuel mandates have failed to accomplish their stated objectives while forcing consumers to pay higher prices for food and fuel... a new American Action Forum (AAF) report concludes. Congress created the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) in 2005 to reduce the United States’ dependence on foreign oil by replacing it with corn-based ethanol and other biofuels. Two years later, lawmakers set targets for biofuel-gasoline blends and imposed a mandate to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions. In reality, according to AAF’s Philip Rossetti, “the RFS is probably not improving either energy security or the environment.” The 2007 law’s “targets have proven to be too ambitious,” particularly when it comes to advanced biofuels, Rossetti finds. On the one hand, production of advanced biofuels has never met the mandates. On the other, while ethanol production has met the mandates, it has never exceeded them, suggesting that “the real demand for ethanol … has plateaued and is likely less than the mandate requires,” so “the mandate is artificially inflating demand for ethanol.”...  https://www.thenewamerican.com/economy/sectors/item/28795-federal-biofuel-mandates-are-an-expensive-flop.

{ freebeacon.com } ~ For months, the Iranian people have taken to the streets to protest against their government... a cruel and oppressive Islamist theocracy that claims a monopoly on morality. These are not just demonstrations about economic struggles and water shortages—results largely of the regime's corruption and incompetence. The popular protests also show a growing rejection of the Islamic Republic's brutal rule, and even its existence altogether. Unrest continues to spread throughout the country, with Iranians getting bolder and angrier. The potential consequences for Iran and the Middle East could be transformational. Yet the media have completely ignored these recent developments, to the point that only someone following certain Iran watchers and Iranian activists on Twitter can even know of their existence. The casual news consumer became well aware of the anti-government protests that broke out in Iran on Dec. 28. What appeared to start as demonstrations focused on the regime's economic policies quickly became aimed at the government itself, with frustrated Iranians across the country—including working-class citizens from peripheral provinces, the regime's supposed base of support—calling for an end to the ayatollahs' rule. The protests prompted countless op-eds and news stories. But the momentum supposedly fizzled out after about two weeks, and the protests were quickly forgotten. Even the careful news watcher would be excused for thinking the regime succeeded in suppressing the protests and restoring "order." That's not what happened, however. "A careful review of the evidence clearly indicates that the protests were not a short-lived phenomenon with temporary impact," notes Prof. Ivan Sascha Sheehan, the incoming executive director of the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Baltimore. "Rather, they marked a turning point and permanent change in the trend of events and political calculations in Iran."...  http://freebeacon.com/blog/iran-protests-no-one-covering/?utm_source=Freedom+Mail&utm_campaign=f44b7a4f2f-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2018_04_20&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_b5e6e0e9ea-f44b7a4f2f-45611665

Think about it: A whole slate of ancient leftists and unknown upstarts will likely battle it out to be their party’s standard-bearer. Bernie Sanders might try again to win the nomination stolen by liar-Hillary Clinton in 2016. Or we could see loose lips-Joe Biden or Elizabeth dinky-Warren going head-to-head against Donald Trump. And if Democrats get their way, your neighborhood 16- and 17-year-olds might be standing in line with you on Election Day. But they won’t just be handing out “I Voted” stickers. They’ll actually be voting.

The Washington, DC, city council is considering a bill introduced by Ward 6 council member Charles Allen lowering the voting age to 16. But unlike other small cities around the country that have passed similar measures, the District of Columbia is treated in some ways as a state — which would allow these DC adolescents to cast a ballot for our next president. That would require congressional approval.
This isn’t the first time the Left has tried to tap into the frustrations of young people in order to advance its agenda. In 1971, fresh off the Vietnam War protests across the nation, Congress passed the 26th Amendment, which gave citizens 18 and older the right to vote.
The argument at the time was that anyone old enough to be sent off to fight in an unjust war ought to be able to vote. In the 1960s, when leftist politicians saw the lengths to which young people were willing to protest against the establishment, they just couldn’t wait to bestow political power upon their draft-dodging brethren and like-minded fellow travelers.
Today’s argument for allowing 16-year-olds to vote is based on the same premise. If the Parkland school shootings taught us one thing, it’s that scum-George Soros-funded teens can be just as rebellious as their 1960s counterparts. But today’s youth protesters are willing to go even further than the Woodstock generation: They’re perfectly willing to trash constitutional rights if it means forcing their policies and ideology on the rest of us.
The Washington Post thinks adults failed the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and that “maybe it would make sense to give them and their cohort a bigger say in their future.”
Would it make sense? As David Davenport writes at Forbes, “If it is a question of maturity, researchers generally agree that the brain is still developing until the mid-20s, with moral reasoning and abstract thought coming later in the cycle than previously thought.”
More problematic is that studies show a significant number of high school students lack proficiency when it comes to U.S. history, civics and the Constitution. Some can’t name a senator or member of Congress in their home districts, or even the president of the United States for that matter. So why push voting rights for kids who don’t know the first thing about government? The Leftmedia is drooling over the possibilities.
Joshua Douglass at CNN suggests, “The students are fed up with our politicians and are using their voices to demand change. Imagine if they could also vote and turned out in significant numbers. Would meaningful gun reform legislation be more likely to pass? Would our politicians actually be more responsive to the public will?”
Well, the cat’s out of the bag. This isn’t merely about opening the door for today’s passionate and thoughtful youth to participate in our democracy. Nor is it about ensuring that future citizens will stand up for freedom of speech or constitutional rights. Quite the opposite, in fact. This is about using the Parkland tragedy to infiltrate the impressionable minds of young people to repeal the Second Amendment. Period.
And make no mistake: David Hogg and his Twitter-savvy acolytes will be further trained to fight for a broad range of causes and issues in the future. Democrats don’t view these kids as thoughtful citizens but as loyal soldiers in an army ready to tear apart the fabric of our Constitution. Think about it: No one would be pushing voting rights for 16-year-olds if they were marching for the protection of the unborn, defense of the Second Amendment or preservation of traditional marriage.
The media tell us that no generation of youth has ever been so poised to make an impact at the ballot box as Millennials. But that generation can already vote, so what about those behind them? If these budding leftists are given voter ID cards in time for the next presidential election, chances are they’ll have lost interest in this whole citizenship thing.
Heck, with Donald Trump’s roaring economy, these kids might actually have to show up for work and pay taxes by 2020 — at which point they’ll find out that not all bosses allow their employees to walk out of work to join a protest. And by then maybe they’ll understand that shouting down alternative ideas or trampling upon constitutional rights makes one a left-wing agitator, not a responsible citizen.
To all those 14-year-olds hoping to vote in two years, here’s some advice: Read the Constitution, study history and learn about our political system. You’ll see right through those adults currently using you to push their leftist agenda, and you’ll earn the right to one day cast your vote for president.   ~The Patriot Pos

{ rickwells.us } ~ The Democrats are throwing everything they can think of at President Trump and the Republicans... in order to distract and attempt to redirect the fingers of blame and criminal misconduct away from them, their institutional corruption, their attempts to steal the 2016 election, and the subsequent, ongoing coup against President Trump and the millions of American patriots who voted for him.  On Friday the foul mouthed snaggle-toothed DNC Chairman Thomas Perez, along with Minnesota jihadist scum-Keith Ellison, his deputy, sued the Trump presidential campaign, the Russian government and WikiLeaks, claiming a broad illegal conspiracy to help Trump win the 2016 election. Just because four or five Congressional “investigations,” and one by a DOJ witch hunter have turned up nothing doesn’t mean they’re through making the claims. { meforum.org } ~ At 70, Israel stands strong, yet debates about its health persist. The radical Israeli Left seems most concerned about the country’s future... arguing that there is great urgency in solving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict; otherwise, Israel is doomed. The Left contends that Israel’s democratic character, its international legitimacy, and its ability to withstand protracted conflict all are threatened by the ongoing stalemate. Indeed, Israel has faced existential threats from its neighbors since its establishment. And as a small state its existence is precarious. Moreover, Jews with a historical consciousness remember that a Jewish state was twice destroyed by powerful empires. So nothing can be taken for granted. However, this article argues that time seems to be on Israel’s side. A review of the balance of power between Israel and its foes, and of the domestic features molding Israel’s national power such as its economy, social cohesion and political system, and of Israel’s standing in the international community, validates the assessment that Israel has the dominant hand for the foreseeable future...

{ defenddemocracy.org } ~ On April 16, an American pastor unjustly detained in a Turkish prison for 18 months will finally get to defend himself in court... Andrew Brunson, a Presbyterian minister from North Carolina, faces up to seven years of pretrial detention under Turkey’s draconian state of emergency. Brunson is not a prisoner but a hostage, whom Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is cynically using to extort concessions from the United States, a fellow member of NATO. It is high time for President Trump to press for Brunson’s immediate and unconditional release. For over 20 years before his sudden arrest, Brunson had preached peacefully in Turkey’s third-largest city, Izmir. Initially, Turkish authorities charged Brunson with membership in an armed terrorist organization. Later they added charges of espionage and attempting to overthrow the government, although there is no evidence to support any of these accusations. Brunson’s attorneys finally received the indictment last month, but only after it had been leaked to the media. The 62-page indictment is a muddled collection of conspiracy theories based largely on ludicrous accusations from three “secret witnesses.” If convicted, Brunson faces a life sentence. Brunson is a respected member of his community and didn’t quit his post even after surviving a far-right militant’s armed attack in 2011. When Turkey’s religious minorities, particularly Christians and Jews, became scapegoats following the abortive coup in July 2016, Brunson, like many other church leaders, came under increasing pressure...

The State Department report in question came in reply to the Kirk Amendment to the 2012 Appropriations bill which, inspired by the Forum, directed the State Department to figure out the number of real refugees. The 2014 and 2015 Appropriations bills reaffirmed this requirement. Finally, in 2015, the State Department delivered the report to Congress, but classified it, hoping thereby to conceal its contents from U.S. taxpayers...

Use Iran Sanctions to Stop Assad

{ defenddemocracy.org } ~ Since the weekend military strike against chemical-weapons sites in Syria... the debate in Washington has centered on whether the strike went far enough. But policy makers should consider another question of equal importance: Is the U.S. prepared to cut off the financial lifelines that keep Bashar Assad in power? The Islamic Republic of Iran spent roughly $15 billion last year to bolster its longtime strategic partner in Damascus. It bought arms for Mr. Assad’s military and financed the foreign Shiite militias, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah, that fight for the Syrian dictator. Iran’s annual contribution to Hezbollah alone stands at between $700 million and $800 million. Tehran has deployed its Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to Syria and has lent money to Mr. Assad to finance imports such as petroleum. Iran extended a $1 billion line of credit in 2017, on top of the $5.6 billion it had already provided. This credit is provided through the Islamic Republic’s Export Development Bank, while all funds ultimately run through Iran’s central bank. A Syria strategy that leaves these Iranian financial spigots open is doomed to fail. Why haven’t they been blocked? For fear of jeopardizing the 2015 nuclear accord, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, which relieved sanctions on Iranian banks, regime assets and economic sectors. This policy paralysis needs to end, and this weekend’s military strike, conducted in close coordination with France and Britain, should lead to a trans-Atlantic understanding that allows true financial warfare against the Iran-Syria nexus to commence...

Trump Oversees Biggest Cuts to Regs in Quarter-Century

Those regulations amount to a “hidden tax” on Americans, as well as a severe limit on Liberty. The good news is that President Donald Trump has followed through on his campaign promise to cut federal regulations, and his initial efforts have produced the most significant cutting of government red tape in more than 25 years. Here are some of the highlights thus far per the CEI:
  • Federal regulations and intervention cost Americans $1.9 trillion in 2017.
  • Federal regulation is a hidden tax that amounts to nearly $15,000 per U.S. household each year, more than Americans spend on any category in their family budget except for housing.
  • In 2017, 97 laws were enacted by Congress during the calendar year, while 3,281 rules were issued by agencies. Thus, 34 rules were issued for every law enacted.
  • If it were a country, U.S. federal regulation would be the world’s eighth-largest economy, ranking behind India and ahead of Italy.
  • Many Americans are concerned about their annual tax burden, but total regulatory costs exceeded the $1.88 trillion the IRS collected in both individual and corporate income taxes in 2017.
  • Some 67 federal departments, agencies, and commissions are currently working on 3,209 new regulations in various stages of development.
  • The five most active rulemaking entities — the Departments of Commerce, Defense, Transportation, Treasury, and the Environmental Protection Agency — account for 1,359 rules, or 43 percent of all proposed regulations currently under consideration.
  • The 2017 Federal Register contained 61,308 pages, the lowest count since 1993 and a 36 percent drop from Obama’s 95,894 pages in 2016, the highest level ever recorded.
Clearly Trump is off to a good start, but as Wayne Crews, CEI’s vice president for policy, says, “There are warning signs.” Crews explains, “President Trump’s own apparent affinity for strong antitrust enforcement and protectionist trade policies threaten to undermine the economic gains from his regulatory reform efforts.” However, the greatest factor in controlling government regulations lies largely with the Congress, as the legislative branch ultimately has the most authority and responsibility to make the rules. Congress did use the Congressional Review Act to eliminate 15 onerous Obama-era rules in 2017, but Congress has in recent years and in certain areas delegated too much of its authority to non-elected federal bureaucrats.   ~The Patriot Post

{ conservativefreepress.com } ~ “There is a Revolution going on in California,” President Trump tweeted on Wednesday... “Soooo many Sanctuary areas want OUT of this ridiculous, crime infested & breeding concept. Jerry Brown is trying to back out of the National Guard at the Border, but the people of the State are not happy. Want Security & Safety NOW!” Our commander-in-chief is rarely wrong, and he certainly called it correct in this tweet. There is indeed something going on out in California. This week, Los Alamitos voted for the second time to pass an ordinance exempting itself from the new sanctuary laws that went into effect in January. And in what might be even bigger news, the San Diego Board of Supervisors voted to support the Trump administration in their lawsuit against the state. Said lawsuit, brought by the Justice Department last month, targets the new laws as being outside the realm of a state’s local rights. The DOJ argues that California is not just restricting their law enforcement officers from actively participating in deportation raids and other means of enforcing federal law, but are indeed coercing them into defying federal immigration law...

{ meforum.org } ~ In an address to a prominent British think tank, Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu recently argued that before establishing a Palestinian state... it would be necessary to internalize what had happened in the broader Middle East during the past few years—a reference to the collapsing regional order and the attendant proliferation of failed states. "It's time," he said, "we reassessed whether the modern model we have of sovereignty, and unfettered sovereignty, is applicable everywhere in the world." Netanyahu expressed a wider and deepening concern over the long-term consequences of the on-going Arab upheavals, euphorically misdiagnosed at their onset as the "Arab Spring." These upheavals have toppled a number of established regimes and destabilized several states at a horrific human and material cost. But they also have called into question the century-long Arab system based on territorial nation-states by accelerating processes and undercurrents that have long been in operation, turning many of these entities into failed states. By most accepted measures, the Palestinian Authority is also a failed entity. Would a Palestinian state fare any better?...

by Michelle Malkin
{ cnsnews.com  } ~ Move over, Trump Derangement Syndrome. Another unhinged liberal pathology is back:

Chick-fil-A-phobia.

Perhaps, in the interest of public health, the CDC should launch a weekly C-F-A-P surveillance report to map the recurrence of this culturally infectious disease. Early-onset symptoms include fear of pressure-cooked poultry, allergic reaction to waffle potato fries and an irrational hatred of cow costumes. Anti-Christian prejudice and coastal elitism are common comorbidities associated with this debilitating progressive condition.

Ground zero for the latest outbreak? The headquarters of The New Yorker magazine. This week's issue online features the bigoted lament of writer Daniel Piepenbring, who decries the fast-food chain's "creepy infiltration" of the Big Apple and warns against the company's "pervasive Christian traditionalism." Chick-fil-A opened its fourth location in the city last month. The largest franchise in the country, it seats 140, employs 150, and along with the other NYC locations, donates an estimated 17,000 pounds of food to a local pantry for the homeless and hungry. The company is reportedly on track to become the third-largest fast-food chain in the world.

What are the Chick-fil-A-phobes so afraid of?

A private business succeeding in the marketplace based on its merits, without coercion or cronyism.

An enterprise that values hard work, honesty and integrity.

A family-owned American Dream come true that creates jobs, pays taxes, satisfies customers of all backgrounds and gives back to the community.

Horror of horrors, what menaces these sandwich-sellers of faith be!

Chick-fil-A's corporate mission to "glorify God" and "enrich the lives of everyone we touch" leaves The New Yorker scribe terminally heartsick about the "ulterior motive" of its restaurant execs. So do the founding family's commitments to faithful marriages, strong families, Sundays off and the highest standards of character for their employees. The frightened New Yorker critic is especially perturbed by the "Bible verses" enshrined at Chick-fil-A's Atlanta headquarters and by the restaurant's popular bovine mascots -- which he dubs "morbid" and the "ultimate evangelists" -- whose ubiquity on New York billboards and subway corridors is akin to a "carpet bombing."

Notice, by the way, how these hysterical Chick-fil-a-phobes have no qualms about the success of Jewish-owned delis or the spread of Muslim halal food shop operators in New York City who openly pay tribute to their faiths. Imagine a reporter freaking out over Quran verses or Torah citations hung up on a business owner's wall. Welcome to Social Justice 101, where discriminating against Christian-owned business in the name of opposing discrimination is the definition of tolerance.

We've been here before, of course. It was a liberal activist reporter and gay marriage advocate at The New York Times, Kim Severson, who helped launch the first nationwide witch hunt against Chick-fil-A in 2011. The former vice president of the National Gay and Lesbian Journalists Association used her straight-news platform to invoke fear of "evangelical Christianity's muscle flexing" and spread false and libelous attacks on Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy and his family as "anti-gay." Her propagandizing in the radical rag of record helped stoke boycotts and regulatory crackdowns by pandering Democrat Mayors Thomas Menino in Boston, Rahm Emanuel in Chicago, and New York City's Bill de Blasio.

Ultimately, those media-manufactured efforts to stifle Chick-fil-A's free enterprise and First Amendment rights failed. The company's products have proved irresistible to customers on all sides of the political spectrum. Gastronomical satisfaction trumps anti-Christian zealotry and zealous anti-Trumpism.

And that's what chaps the thin hides of the far-left journalists at The New York Times and The New Yorker who choke at the sights and smells of good, old-fashioned capitalism.

If leftists only want to eat and drink at a global fast-food company whose progressive CEO shares their Democrat-supporting, gun-grabbing, open-borders, gay marriage-boosting values, they should stick to Howard Schultz's Starbucks cafes.

Oh, wait...

Most recently, this week, on April 17... two Turkish fighter aircraft harassed the helicopter carrying Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the Greek Armed Forces Chief Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis as they were flying from the islet of Ro to Rhodes. With the illegal seizures and occupation of northern Cyprus in 1974 and the Syrian city of Afrin this March -- with virtually no global response -- Turkey apparently feels unchallenged and eager to continue; this time, it seems, with the oil-and-gas rich islands of Greece. Another provocation by the Turkish government recently took place when three young Greek men recently paid tribute to a dead pilot by planting five flags in some islets in the Aegean. According to the Turkish media, Turkey first urged Greece to remove the flags, then carried out a military operation against a tiny islet...  https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/12199/turkey-targeting-greece-again

by Cal Thomas
{ townhall.com } ~ When President liar-Bill Clinton signed the welfare reform act in 1996, which he negotiated with then-Speaker Newt Gingrich, the left claimed people would starve. They didn't. According to the nonpartisan Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, between 1996 and 2000, the employment rate for single mothers increased from 63 percent to 76 percent. In addition, the overall poverty rate has declined over the last half-century. Many able-bodied people who once relied on a government check found jobs and started earning a paycheck.

Good news, but the sideshow that has attached itself to so much of the Trump administration has distracted many from things that actually affect people's lives.

President Trump last week signed an executive order, the purpose of which is, according to a White House press release, to reduce poverty in America "by promoting opportunity and economic mobility."

Some of that is already happening with unemployment numbers the lowest they've been in 17 years.

The press release says that in 2017, "the Federal Government spent more than $700 billion on low-income assistance." It notes that since modern welfare began during the administration of Franklin Roosevelt, the system has become a large bureaucracy with little incentive for people to look for work.

Conservatives like to say they measure success not by how many people receive government assistance, but by how many don't. It is more than a sound bite. Helping people become independent of government is real compassion.

The executive order addresses what for many has become an addiction to government: "While bipartisan welfare reform enacted in 1996 was a step toward eliminating the economic stagnation and social harm that can result from long-term Government dependence, the welfare system still traps many recipients, especially children, in poverty and is in need of further reform and modernization in order to increase self-sufficiency, well-being, and economic mobility."

The order also stresses the need for better social networking to become more involved in helping able-bodied people to acquire the skills, education, child care and especially the motivation to work. I would add that churches and religious institutions that benefit from tax breaks should be encouraged to do more to help poor people find employment.

The president cites another key to reducing the welfare rolls: "Address the challenges of populations that may particularly struggle to find and maintain employment including single parents, formerly incarcerated individuals, the homeless, substance abusers, individuals with disabilities and disconnected youth..."

Education choice should be another component of welfare reform. A good education for a child currently living in poverty is a ticket out of the system and into a better life.

I have written before about the nation of Singapore, where unemployment hovers around 2 percent. That's because the country has no welfare programs. If one is capable of working and doesn't work, he gets no check from the government. The truly needy are cared for. Knowing that government is a last resort and not a first resource and that if you don't work, you won't have money to buy food, is a powerful incentive to find a job.

What the administration should do to help sell its welfare reform initiative is locate people who benefitted from the 1996 legislation and who are working and supporting their families and feature them at public events. Optimism almost always overcomes pessimism and the story of people overcoming odds is America's story.

That ain’t going to fly is it? The IG said that his lies were knowingly and intentionally made.”  Farrell shakes his head that they are not going to fly, that McCabe “is a very experienced agent of twenty some odd years, Deputy Director of the FBI. { westernjournal.com } ~ When Donald Trump wants to lawyer up, he doesn’t fool around... And now that the Mueller investigation has kicked into high gear over stuff it wasn’t even supposed to be investigating in the first place, he’s brought in a old friend from good ol’ Gotham. According to the New York Post, Rudy Giuliani — the former presidential candidate and mayor of New York City during 9/11 — will be joining the president’s legal team and hopes to put an end to Mueller’s intrusions in “a week or two.” Giuliani joins Ty Cobb and Jay Sekulow on the legal team dealing with Mueller. For those of you who didn’t grow up or live in New York City before Giuliani was mayor, this move might seem a bit strange to you. However, Giuliani made his name as a tough-as-nails federal prosecutor, aggressively going after the mob in an era where doing so risked ending up with your bullet-riddled remains in the trunk of a ’78 Chrysler Cordoba abandoned on the Cross-Bronx Expressway...  https://www.westernjournal.com/ct/giuliani-just-revealed-his-game-changing-to-deal-with-mueller-russia-investigation/?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=CTBreaking&utm_campaign=breaking&utm_content=conservative-tribune.

This myopia goes back decades. In Theodore H. White’s America In Search of Itself, there is this telling passage about the Iranian hostage crisis of 1979. Khomeini’s Islamic regime was a government, but not in any sense that American diplomats were used to dealing with. Mitch McConnell Slams the Door on “Protect Mueller” Bill

{ totalconservative.com } ~ Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell put the kibosh on a bill – sponsored by Republicans and Democrats alike... that would have blocked President Trump from taking action to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller. In an interview with Fox News this week, McConnell said there was no need to bring the legislation to the Senate floor for a vote. “There’s no indication that Mueller’s going to be fired,” McConnell said. “I don’t think the president’s going to do that and just as a practical matter, even if we passed it, why would he sign it?” Nonetheless, the Senate Judiciary Committee has scheduled a vote on the bill later this month. As written, it would make a new law putting the special counsel’s fate solely in the hands of the Justice Department, which can then only fire him if there is good cause...

"Firewalls" and "Taint Teams" Do
Not Protect Fourth and Sixth Amendment Rights

by Alan M. Dershowitz
{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ *The Fourth and Sixth Amendments prohibit government officials from in any way intruding on the privacy of lawyer/client confidential rights of citizens.

*The very fact that this material is seen or read by a government official constitutes a core violation. It would be the same if the government surreptitiously recorded a confession of a penitent to a priest, or a description of symptoms by a patient to a doctor, or a discussion of their sex life between a husband and wife.

*The recourses for intrusions on the Fourth and Sixth Amendments are multifold: the victim of the intrusion can sue for damages; he or she can exclude it from use by the government in criminal or civil cases; or the victim can demand the material back. But none of these remedies undo the harm to privacy and confidentiality done to the citizen by the government's intrusion into his private and confidential affairs.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Many TV pundits are telling viewers not to worry about the government's intrusion into possible lawyer/client privileged communications between President Trump and his lawyer, since prosecutors will not get to see or use any privileged material. This is because prosecutors and FBI agents create firewalls and taint teams to preclude privileged information from being used against the client in a criminal case. But that analysis completely misses the point and ignores the distinction between the Fifth Amendment on the one hand, and the Fourth and Sixth Amendments on the other.

The Fifth Amendment is an exclusionary rule. By its terms, it prevents material obtained in violation of the privilege of self-incrimination from being used to incriminate a defendant – that is to convict him of a crime. But the Fourth and Sixth Amendments provide far broader protections: they prohibit government officials from in any way intruding on the privacy of lawyer/client confidential rights of citizens. In other words, if the government improperly seizes private or privileged material, the violation has already occurred, even if the government never uses the material from the person from whom it was seized.

Not surprisingly, therefore, firewalls and taint teams were developed in the context of the Fifth Amendment, not the Fourth or Sixth Amendments. Remember who comprises the firewall and taint teams: other FBI agents, prosecutors and government officials who have no right under the Fourth and Sixth Amendments, even to see private or confidential materials, regardless of whether it is ever used against a defendant. The very fact that this material is seen or read by a government official constitutes a core violation. It would be the same if the government surreptitiously recorded a confession of a penitent to a priest, or a description of symptoms by a patient to a doctor, or a discussion of their sex life between a husband and wife. The government simply has no right to this material, whether it ever uses it against the penitent or the patient or the spouse in a criminal case.

So, let's not dismiss the potential violation of the rights of Michael Cohen and his client, if it were to turn out that included among the materials seized by the government in the raid were private or confidential information or documents.

The recourses for intrusions on the Fourth and Sixth Amendments are multifold: the victim of the intrusion can sue for damages; he or she can exclude it from use by the government in criminal or civil cases; or the victim can demand the material back. But none of these remedies undo the harm to privacy and confidentiality done to the citizen by the government's intrusion into his private and confidential affairs.

An equally important harm is to important relationships that are protected by the law: between lawyer and client, priest and penitent, doctor and patient, husband and wife, etc. If an ordinary citizen, seeing that even the president's confidential communications with his lawyer can be seized and perused, he or she will be far less willing to engage in such communications. As a society, we value such communications; that is why our laws protect them and that is why it should be extremely difficult for the government to intrude upon them, except as a last recourse in extremely important cases.

From what we know, this case does not meet those stringent standards. Much of the material sought by the warrant could probably be obtained through other sources, such as bank, tax and other records that are subject to subpoena. Moreover, the alleged crimes at issue – highly technical violations of banking and election laws – would not seem to warrant the extreme measure of a highly publicized search and seizure of records that may well include some that are subject to the lawyer/client privilege.

Someday soon, the government is going to have to justify its decision to conduct this raid. I challenge any reader who is not concerned about this raid to honestly answer the following question: If the raid had been conducted on liar-Hillary Clinton's lawyer's office and home, would you be as unconcerned? The truth now!

In November of 2013, Democrats voted by a margin of 52 to 48, along party lines, to ban the use of the filibuster to prevent nominees  from being confirmed. At the time Majority Leader dinky-Harry Reid derided Republicans for “blocking nominees” in the pursuit of unrelated legislative goals. He said, “For the first time in the history of our republic, Republicans have routinely used the filibuster to prevent President liar-nObama from appointing an executive team and from appointing judges. The need for change is so, so very obvious. It’s clearly visible. { jpost.com } ~ Antwerp’s Criminal Court has opened cases against three Flemish companies for the alleged violations of EU sanctions... relating to the sale of illegal chemicals to the Syrian regime, according to a Wednesday report from the Belgium newsweekly Knack. As Republicans dither on
liar-nObamacare, Democrats plot its expansion
by Philip Klein

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ When Republicans fail to advance a limited government agenda when they have power, it does not merely entrench the status quo... it paves the road for liberals to fulfill their expansionist dreams when they’re in charge. There is no better example of this than on healthcare policy. For decades, Republican inaction and acquiesce has allowed liberals to make uneven yet substantial progress toward their ultimate goal of imposing government-run healthcare on the United States. This time, Republican dithering may just enable Democrats to reach that promised land. In 1994, Republicans cheered after defeating President liar-Clinton’s push for national healthcare. They moved on to other issues, and avoided comprehensive free market healthcare reform when they had unified control of government during the second Bush administration. Democrats regrouped, learned from their mistakes, and honed their policies and messaging as they waited for their next opportunity. When given the chance, they passed liar-nObamacare....

{ townhall.com } ~ Did you hear the one about the 'racist' Trump judicial nominee?  Wendy Vitter, whom the president has selected to a federal District Court bench in Eastern Louisiana, declined at her confirmation hearing this week to weigh in on the correctness of the Supreme Court's landmark 1954 Brown v. Board of Education striking down segregation. The Left-wing outrage industry -- already eager to see her defeated -- seized on the exchange to paint Vitter as a crypto-segregationist:

“Do you believe that Brown v. Board of Education was correctly decided,” Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a Democrat, asked. “I don’t mean to be coy,” Vitter responded. “But I think I get into a difficult area when I start commenting on Supreme Court decisions which are correctly decided and which I may disagree with. Again, my personal, political or religious views I would set aside. That is Supreme Court precedent. It is binding. If I were honored to be confirmed I would be bound by it, and of course I would uphold it.”  After a pause, Blumenthal repeated the question. Vitter said: “Again, I would respectfully not comment on what could be my boss’ ruling, the Supreme Court. I would be bound by it. And if I start commenting on ‘I agree with this case’ or ‘don’t agree with this case’ I think we get into a slippery slope.”

This clip made the rounds, with liberal commentators melting down over how astonishing and amoral her response was. Take a look at some of these headlines. But the very same former Assistant US Attorney who many on the Left and others were favorably quoting earlier in the week regarding the FBI raids against President Trump's personal attorney took to Twitter to expose what he described as the "deceit" involved in launching this smear:

What Vitter was doing in this instance was resorting to -- or retreating to -- a version of the 'Ginsburg Standard,' established by ultraliberal Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg during her 1993 confirmation hearings. At the time, she said she would decline to comment specifically on any cases or issues that may come before her as a justice. Here's a contemporaneous New York Times report:

In her opening statement to the committee, which began its hearings today on the nomination, Judge Ginsburg also sought to set a clear boundary on what kind of questions she was willing to answer. She said she would not discuss specific cases or issues that might come before her. "It would be wrong for me to say or preview in this legislative chamber how I would cast my vote on questions the Supreme Court may be called upon to decide," she said. "A judge sworn to decide impartially can offer no forecasts, no hints, for that would show not only disregard for the specifics of the particular case, it would display disdain for the entire judicial process." Although such unwillingness to engage in specifics has frustrated and annoyed some senators in the past, it was clear today that it will make no difference for Judge Ginsburg, who seems bound to win Senate approval easily.

Indeed, she sailed through by a 96-3 vote. As Ken White (aka "Pope Hat") says, "a significant number of nominees" have adopted a similar approach to answering questions about specific cases. Vitter undoubtedly believes Brown v. Board was rightly and justly decided, as do all Americans beyond the racist fringe. But like others before her, she chose not to go down the path of opining on the wisdom or rectitude of various Supreme Court rulings on any subject.  If there were any shred of evidence at all that she might not believe in racial integration, that would certainly be cause for serious alarm. But her response to this question does not constitute such evidence. Also, a conservative attorney points out that Vitter specifically says she's bound by the Brown v. Board precedent:

My strong guess is that Vitter knows that this specific decision is a no-brainer, but discerned that if she started offering her views on "easy" cases, the line of questioning would proceed to much more controversial matters like Roe, Heller, Obergefell, etc. You may think it was a tactical error to stay silent on this narrow question in order to avoid the category entirely others have weighed in on settled, slam-dunk cases like Brown without wading into others. You may think that judges should be more transparent on such matters in general. But that's not the point of this nasty attack. The point of this nasty attack is to imply that the nominee, and the man who nominated her, are retrograde racists. I cannot speak to the qualifications of Ms. Vitter for the position, and I happen to agree that her past anti-abortion activism and initially incomplete disclosures are reasonable issues for opponents to raise; conservatives would do the same if the ideological shoe were on the other foot.

But this particular smear, which has gained a great deal of attention just perform a web search of her name, seems grossly unfair and misleading. I'll leave you with this: The Time Magazine piece I quoted above asserted that Vitter once advanced the "false statement" that Planned Parenthood kills 150,000 American females per year. But that claim is absolutely true if one believes that (a) each abortion ends a life, and (b) roughly half of all abortions in America target unborn females Planned Parenthood performs approximately 300,000 abortions per year. Each element of that belief is backed up by science. Pro-choice or pro-abortion people may not believe that those lives ought to be legally recognized or protected, but that opinion does not change the scientific facts. It's almost as if journalists are overwhelmingly biased on the issue of abortion.

{ thepoliticalinsider.com } ~ We called it. Last night, here at The Political Insider, we reported...  that the fabled memos of former FBI Director James Comey outlining his discussions and meetings with President Trump would be released to Congress. In the piece, we noted that you shouldn’t  “count on the substance of the memos to remain a secret from the public for very long either.” Just like clockwork, some of the memos were leaked last night, revealing Comey’s deeply-held memories about his talks with President Trump. And we’re just learning that Comey may have revealed that President Trump was set up in one meeting in order to have the infamous Trump dossier, which documented Trump frequenting Russian prostitutes, reported in the press... https://thepoliticalinsider.com/james-comey-memo-dossier/?utm_medium=email&utm_source=criticalimpact&utm_campaign=TPI_Morning_Newsletter_4_20_2018&utm_content=4b4ea4948726422aa6473c7b9fa19141&source=CI

Patriots' Day and the Flags of Our Forefathers

yaMt0YYUu_qIGtmCAIhHRZQwqzTxGcHfuVqDdymhY8dxQy6lXxJPb6m6dtV9qbpPncPbytmWQ59S5oAILF7xxSwUS9h26lmuhfDvUvU6FujnxGNbk9QMdQanjxgDUTMKK6EKFO_qfB-zR8pEFAPRMIoJpjBZc99u3WeTmzpA8Co=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450by Mark Alexander:  April 19th is Patriots’ Day, commemorating the anniversary of that date in 1775 when American militiamen at Lexington and Concord fired the “Shot Heard ‘Round The World” — the opening volley of the American Revolution.

We hold this historic date in high esteem, along with those days commemorating the anniversaries of our Declaration of Independence, Constitution and its Bill of Rights. Indeed, our publication takes its name in honor of this first generation of American Patriots — and all those since. Unfortunately, Patriots’ Day receives little attention nationally, and even less in educational institutions, where our nation’s stirring and singular history is rarely taught to young people.
The most basic principles of American Liberty and Rule of Law, and the generational sacrifices of millions of Americans who have honored their oaths “to support and defend” Liberty’s enshrinement in our Constitution, are often not understood or appreciated by many young people — and too many adults.
So undervalued are our forbear’s historic sacrifices for Liberty that among the ranks of entrenched ideological leftists are those who view our nation’s flag with contempt. This is often combined with a deep insecurity-driven fear of the Liberty and self-determination it represents and, consequently, a loathing of those willing to defend it.
In our conservative East Tennessee community, the American flag is commonly displayed on houses and, to commemorate Memorial, Independence and Veterans Days each year, is attached to every power pole on the main thoroughfares.
Among the fixed residential flag poles in our community is a 20-foot standard in front of our house.
I installed that pole in June of 1994, on the 50th anniversary of D-Day — the beginning of the end of World War II. I erected it as a humble but fitting tribute to a neighbor, my father’s lifelong best friend and fellow WWII veteran. So close were these two men that we always referred to my father’s friend as “uncle.”
In 1944, my “uncle” was a young Army second lieutenant leading a machine gun platoon on the front lines of notable battles against Hitler’s Wehrmacht in France and Germany until the end of the war. On several occasions in urban combat, he killed the enemy in hand-to-hand combat. Though a strong and tough individual of formidable stature well into his 80s, he recounted those battles with great pain and occasional tears for the loss of life — on both sides.
He has since departed this life, but it’s for him — and for all who have defended Liberty at risk of their own life — that our flag flies high and proud.
Last month, our flag greeted a gathering of Vietnam combat veterans at our home, some of whom recently returned to that country to make their peace. It was an extraordinary evening, but punctuated by a question asked by one of those decorated veterans which sparked some antipathy. That question: “Do some people object to your flag?”
It was the fifth time I’d been asked a similar question in recent months, and it stemmed from a plastic yard sign across the street from our flag that asserts, “Hate Has No Home Here” — in multiple languages. Some similar signs popped up in front of a few other residences occupied by “liberals,” ostensibly in response to the clash of socialist and fascist haters in Charlottesville, Virginia, last summer.

x-GbPAiU9hJMwHnKJWb1FrqXNM7SEfG7eC8znFgJeelnTGqC__iyHDoLDC_sMROVNhTwjQnumACkUXZenXjZBOzVSO57ROSGzv1xb4_UwO4JOOwOrmGforF-mj1Hp98JmM8GDpF5KYH8neBpRCuqPd0uYWEV2t17t8iGwrfg4vY=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450

All but a handful of those signs disappeared after a month or so.
Of course, there’s nothing inherently wrong with the message on that yard sign, other than such signs are the epitome of trendy “virtue signaling” and may be intended to project that the views of those occupants have higher moral authority and standing than those of their neighbors. Notably, posting yard signs and applying bumper stickers is most often the full extent of the “sacrifice” these folks undertake to change the world.
According to the Chicago-based activists who produce and market the signs, they’re needed because, “Hate, unchecked, can make neighbors feel fearful and unwelcome in their own communities. … It’s easy to hate people we don’t know.” But what about the neighbors we do know?
In a conversation with my friend about his sign, he explained that it is aimed at “jingoistic flag-wavers” and all those deplorable people who did not support liar-Hillary Clinton.
The implications of that explanation notwithstanding, I genuinely like all our neighbors, regardless of their political affinities. I grew up in a home steeped in the principles set forth in the Greatest Commandments (Matthew 22:35-40) and was taught early that there’s good to be found in just about everyone from any walk of life. As a result, I treasure relationships with many friends and colleagues who hold a wide spectrum of beliefs.
To maintain relationships with a few of them, as a rule I avoid engaging in any Chardonnay-soaked political debate with folks whose views are antithetical to those I share with generations of Patriots who have devoted their lives to Liberty for all.

ThXLDTw4rAl9mwXzVYDkgBchZ_cbZ0Xwxt1QWZEVRxdREEaLxhxkCFqG-CNHrpo-R0wAyBqzOlF6HF0jB6RAWSh6RuwxOoidYGT_IXyxsG2Yr3bwg7PorokJJo__RsLVarcpSPOBSemPlMo6ywi1thoOmH1SUD_SR4-jBhGq0C0=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450

I subscribe to, and recommend Thomas Jefferson maxim: “I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend.”
Of course, Jefferson also advised, “Love your neighbor as yourself and your country more than yourself.”
When pondering the deeply held political beliefs of those who errantly embrace statism, without understanding that its terminus is, irrevocably, tyranny, I recall with a smile how kindly Ronald Reagan put it: “The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.”
For the record, I don’t display yard signs or bumper stickers which project political or social virtues, opting instead for action over imagery. (Disclaimer: In recent years a few of my likeminded prankster friends have littered our yard with liar-nObama and liar-Clinton campaign signs — under cover of darkness. All such fraternal insults are answered in kind!)
But make no mistake: I’ll defend my neighbor’s right to post his yard sign.
For me, and for American Patriots nationwide, that defense is, in small part, what our flag represents — and has embodied since the original 13-star Patriot flag was raised after those first shots fired at Lexington Green.
Thus, I’ll always fly our nation’s flag with due honor and pride, and lower it on occasion, as I did at sunrise today in memory of and respect for Barbara Bush. Our flag reflects our gratitude for generations of Patriots who sacrificed their personal safety in defense of Liberty, and the innumerable and extraordinary personal sacrifices under that banner.   ~The Patriot Pos

{ dailycaller.com } ~ President Donald Trump is reportedly adding former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani to his personal legal team... A source familiar with the matter told The Daily Beast, Giuliani has been in negotiations with Trump and his team for some time, yet the process has slowed due to recent developments the Trump administration has made in dealing with North Korea and Syria. Giuliani confirmed the news to The Washington Post Thursday afternoon. “I’m doing it because I hope we can negotiate an end to this for the good of the country and because I have high regard for the president and for Bob Mueller,” he stated...

{ dailycaller.com } ~ Republicans’ hopes for maintaining control of the House are dwindling and that is likely an understatement... Forty-six House Republicans are either resigning, retiring or seeking other office in 2018. Roughly 22 House members retire each election cycle, so to say the party is going through a seismic shift is not a misnomer. In fact, its been nearly 25 years — since 1994 — that a majority party incurred as many losses as Republicans have this year. Democrats controlled the House leading up the to the 1994 midterms. The party had 28 members announce retirement and Republicans subsequently took them to the cleaners, picking up 54 seats and outright claiming the majority in what is now known as the “Republican Revolution.”...If we can replace those who are leaving with a conservative then theres no need to worry.

Were Missile Strikes in Syria 'Unconstitutional'?

Bastiat:  The latest bombshell in the leftist pile-on against President Donald Trump is the claim that his missile strikes on Syrian chemical weapons production and storage facilities were “unconstitutional.” This laugh-out-loud irony sources from the same treason-lobby that despises the U.S. Constitution — except when it can be used as a weapon to destroy the enemies of progressivism. Setting aside the president’s moral right to ignore a claim steeped in hypocrisy from a group that routinely elephant-stomps over the document to which it now self-righteously cleaves, the merits of the Left’s baseless claim face more than two centuries’ worth of rebuttals.

First, let’s make sure we address the strongest argument posed so we’re not knocking down a strawman. The most compelling line of reasoning for the Trump-acted-unconstitutionally crowd goes something like this: Either the president can never  authorize military force without getting a declaration of war from Congress, or if he can, he must at least have congressional approval for the same. As a fallback position, any such authorization must at least be in direct self-defense of the U.S. or its forces, or else at a bare minimum critical U.S. national interests must be at stake.
At the outset we note some weaker proponents of the president’s authority as commander-in-chief (CINC) point to Congress’s authorization for the same under the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) public law (2001), passed by Congress in the immediate wake of 9/11. Failing this, they further point to authority under the War Powers Resolution (1973), passed as an ostensible check on the president’s power during Vietnam. But reliance on these authorizations is misplaced for a host of reasons, not least of which is the fact AUMF was directed solely to actions against al-Qaida and its affiliates or supporting states, and the War Powers Resolution has not been recognized by any president as a constitutionally permissible limitation upon CINC authority. It should also be noted that no federal court has upheld the resolution, and even Congress itself has refused to assert it. Moreover, the resolution explicitly states it cannot be read as authorization for the use of force. The simpler truth is that the president simply doesn’t need Congress’s permission to defend the nation.
That’s right: The president has inherent powers as commander-in-chief of America’s military. We know; this just in. But from where, specifically, do these derive? How about from the Constitution, for starters? Article II, Section 2, states, “The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States.” So far, so good. But from where do his independent powers to control the military derive? From the original conceptions of the Founders, as validated through their actions — as well as through the consistent actions of their successors down through the generations.
For example, in his “Pacificus” essays, Founder and Federalist Papers co-author Alexander Hamilton noted that the powers of war and peace are “a concurrent authority” shared by the executive and Congress, which he expounded in Federalist  No. 74. Founder James Madison further noted that the constitutional language authorizing Congress to “declare war” was crafted in lieu of the originally drafted language giving Congress the power to “make war,” specifically so the CINC could respond to a “sudden attack.” The discarded, latter term encompassed all use of military force and Congress did not want to so limit CINC authority.
Madison further noted, however, strong opposition to ceding power to the executive to “commence” war — the idea being that the president could act immediately for defensive purposes, but would require deliberative, congressional approval to engage an enemy force offensively. Admittedly, the lines between “offensive” and “defensive” use of military force blur in the landscape of today’s threats and battle spheres, but the general idea in the Founders’ day was that the CINC could act immediately, whenever-wherever, to protect against imminent threats to national security, but would need Congress to authorize other uses of force.
So what actions of the Founders and their successors validate this notion of the CINC’s authority? George Washington’s actions in the Northwest Indian War (1793) come to mind, as do Thomas Jefferson’s against the Barbary pirates (1801) and James Monroe’s in Amelia Island (off the coast of modern-day Florida, 1817). We probably shouldn’t leave out Abraham Lincoln’s actions in the War Between the States (1861), or Woodrow Wilson’s in Mexico (1916) or Russia (1919). Harry Truman’s actions against communists in North Korea (1950) and John F. Kennedy’s nuclear brinksmanship in the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962) should not be forgotten for that matter, either.
In fact, every other president’s military actions since the Cuban Missile Crisis — notwithstanding sporadic, after-the-fact congressional stamps of approval validating such actions — have only reinforced this “CINC Doctrine,” whether under a Republican or Democrat president.
More proof? How about the fact that although the U.S. has used military force well over 100 times abroad, we — as a nation — have formally declared war only five times? These were the War of 1812; the Mexican-American War; the Spanish-American War; World War I and World War II. The remaining uses of force — from Washington to Trump — have been under the authority of the president, with or without congressional imprimatur.
The argument further goes, if the president indeed has these CINC powers, then how is Congress supposed to rein in a rogue president who is off the rails? Answer: The same way it did in America’s most unpopular modern-day conflict, Vietnam: By cutting funding. Both houses of Congress voted to cut funding for the Vietnam effort, overriding a presidential veto in the process. The move was further fueled by an overwhelming desire to terminate bombing in Cambodia, a use of U.S. military force enjoying virtually no support from the American public. Such congressional actions take courage, of course, but are nonetheless available as fail-safes to ensure the ultimate power over the military remains in the hands of America’s citizens.
From a commonsense standpoint, were the president required to wait for Congress to weigh in on every military action, U.S. national security could be threatened by the lack of expediency in the face of imminent threats. Such a vulnerability could be readily exploited by America’s adversaries to gain military and political advantage over the U.S. And ceding all CINC authority to Congress by accepting congressional approval to “legitimize” inherent Article II executive powers undermines fundamental constitutional separation-of-powers principles.
Circling back to the question of whether President Trump’s actions against Syria were constitutional, Syria used chemical weapons on its own people, has used them before and has indicated it would not hesitate to use them again. Now, whether this fact — considered in light of other threat factors in that volatile region — constitutes an imminent threat to U.S. security interests is difficult to say with any certainty. But one thing is certain: The president, as commander-in-chief, has the constitutional authority to make that assessment — and act on it, if need be — without blessing from Congress.   ~The Patriot Pos

{ rickwells.us } ~ Lou Dobbs plays a clip of President Trump stating in a speech that two of the DOJ mobsters out to get him, Mueller and Rosenstein... along with their support group in the media, have been claiming for months that he’s about to fire them and they’re still there, occupying space and abusing their authority. Dobbs quotes Joe diGenova as stating what we’re witnessing “is a frame up, all along, by the Democratic Party” of President Trump. Dobbs turns to the nonsense of the James Comey book tour. He points out that most supporters of Donald Trump are thrilled with what Comey is doing, that he’s really helping to build the case against himself. Gregg Jarrett agrees, saying, ” James Comey, in my judgment, he committed at least six different crimes, that’s my opinion. But today, of course, the letter came out from eleven Members of Congress, who have made, essentially a criminal referral.” He describes the contents of that referral to be basically the same offenses that Dobbs, Jarrett and others have been pointing to for months...  https://rickwells.us/comey-prison-sessions-rosenstein-doj/

{ frontpagemag.com } ~ There is no shortage of compelling reasons why this must happen, and the sooner the better, but today... given the lunacy of Sanctuary Cities and Sanctuary States and the globalist goals of politicians from both political parties, particularly the Democratic Party leadership, rational and reasonable thought processes have been supplanted by greed, corruption and cowardice- fear of upsetting party leaders or fear of alienating deep-pocketed campaign contributors. Indeed, it is irrational for any leader in the United States to refuse to take whatever measures must be taken to protect America and Americans from the rampant violence, corruption and potential for terrorists to traverse that highly porous border into the United States. Yet this is precisely the situation that exists today in the United States. Therefore, today we will consider some of the more compelling facts that demand that, for once and for all, the U.S./Mexican border be secured...

{ frontpagemag.com } ~ As we have been reporting, in the wake of an effort by Golden West College professors to prevent certain audience members... from asking critical and probing questions of a Islam 101 speaker on March 14, several people have bombarded the administrators of Golden West with complaints. On the above date, a group of us attended a public event at Golden West entitled, “Islam 101”, in which the speaker, Nicole Bovey of the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Orange County, a branch of the Islamic Network Group, gave a sugar-coated presentation of Islam to an audience made up mostly of Golden West students. When some of us, following the protocol for asking questions, raised our hands, were recognized, and asked more probing questions about Islam, one of the sponsoring professors, took the first questioner outside and scolded him for asking the question. Then, during the break, campus police appeared, and took another questioner outside and told him that he couldn’t ask questions. Though there was no physical force used and everyone was allowed to remain, it was a classic police state response that nobody should expect in the United States of America. I should stress that there was absolutely no disruption on our part. We were merely asking tough questions that the hapless Ms Bovey was unable or unwilling to answer in any straightforward manner. As it was, one of the professors came to her rescue an hour before the scheduled end of the event and announced the close of the evening’s activities... Why is there a double standard?  https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/269938/golden-west-stonewalling-surrender-sharia-gary-fouse

{ rickwells.us } ~ Nancy Pulosi really seems to be losing her mind... She begins the video laughing like a blithering idiot for no reason other than possible nervousness, which, considering she’s spoken to much larger gatherings than the 75 or so like-minded libtards at this pro-taxation event, seems unlikely. She reinforces the lost mind possibilities as she continues to address the Democrat wealth redistributors in attendance. Someone hollers out “We need a new Congress,” which completely throws Pulosi off her game, causing her to lose her concentration and apparently forgetting what she was saying. The second video below has more of the event and better volume, although it comes at a price. Just how much Pulosi can someone stand before their mind starts being affected and their actions start to mirror hers? The heckler causes her to get stuck on her analogical weather report, as she says, “Mortgaging our children’s future places a dark cloud over…a dark cloud…O…over…over a dark cloud over this Capitol over our budget. Easy for her to say...  https://rickwells.us/pelosi-lost-dems-dark-cloud/
EU Extends Human Rights Sanctions on Iran
by Tzvi Kahn

{ defenddemocracy.org } ~ The European Union last week extended its existing human rights sanctions on Iran by one year... While the EU’s decision marks an important step in penalizing Tehran for its ongoing domestic repression, it remains insufficient to address the chronic and systemic human rights abuses that continue to pervade the country. The EU sanctions, which the body first began enacting in 2011 in response to Tehran’s repression of the 2009 protests, impose a travel ban and an asset freeze against 82 individuals and one entity. The penalties largely target Iranians affiliated with the country’s judiciary and Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps who have incarcerated, tortured, and executed political prisoners. The sanctions also levy a ban on exports to Iran of equipment that the regime could use for internal repression and for monitoring communications. By contrast, since 2009, the United States has sanctioned only 45 Iranians, including eight individuals and entities designated by the Trump administration, for human rights abuses. Whereas 19 of these targets also appear on the EU list, the remaining 26 do not. Likewise, the EU list contains 64 Iranian actors that Washington has yet to designate....

by Kurt Schlichter
{ townhall.com } ~ There is no way to sugarcoat it – especially after the lawless invasion of the attorney-client privilege by fancy-suited thugs, if President Donald Trump sits down and talks to Robert Mueller and his pack of Democrat donor corruptocrats, he’s an idiot.

Instead, he needs to take his case to the people – because a blind man can see that he’s being framed.

If Trump talks to Mueller, Mueller will be laughing at him, but on the inside. On the outside, he’ll keep up that beaten beagle visage of his, roaring at how he outsmarted the man who outsmarted all the Smartest People in the World and who therefore assumes he can somehow “win” his interview.

But Trump can’t win. The fix is in. Raiding Michael Cohen’s office was the icing on an all-icing cake. This is not justice. This is an attempt to claw back power for the disenfranchised elite no matter what it takes, and no one – not the president, not me, and not you, should pretend these hacks deserve any deference or respect.

Trump committed no crime, as we all know because nothing indicating he has committed a crime has leaked out of that unprofessional sieve masquerading as a bunch of professional prosecutors that Mueller assembled to do the bidding of his elite masters to both overturn the result of the 2016 election and avenge his humiliated pal James Comey. The recent report that Trump is not the “target” of an investigation should not lull anyone into complacency – it’s just another flurry in this special counsel’s blizzard of lies.

Donald Trump is their target, though they absolutely and unequivocally know he committed no crime. They don’t care.

It’s not the truth that Donald Trump has to worry about. It’s the lies. Mueller and his pack of liar-Hillary hitmen will not hesitate, not for a second, to manufacture a crime if that’s what it takes. Think of them as all being just as honest as fired FBI bigwig Andrew McCabe, then decide if that makes you more or less confident about the process.

Hmmmm. I’ll go with “less.”

The FBI’s anti-Trump hate texts by its “nonpartisan public servants,” the DoJ’s continued obstruction of the investigation into its misconduct, the leaks and the lies – it is all part and parcel of the real scandal. A bunch of leftist bureaucrats got mad that Donald Trump beat Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit, denying them the sinecures she would have granted them in gratitude for covering up her myriad crimes, and decided to frame the man the American people elected.

This is not justice. This is a coup by sore losers.

And this proposed interview is not about winding up the investigation – the “investigation” charade will go on forever until Trump finally fires that inexplicably gimpy disappointment Jeff Sessions and puts Scott Pruitt into the AG vacancy to steam clean the outhouse that is our Department of Justice. The “wrap it up” bait is just Mueller’s minions lying again in an effort to sucker Trump in.

“Gosh, if we can just interview you then we can finally finish this up. Really. Honest. Cross my heart, hope you die. I mean ‘to die.’ To die.”

What a load of scum-Adam Schiff. Sheesh, when that nitwit stops babbling about Trump/Russia, you know it’s a dry hole.

Mueller’s only goal in this interview is to trick Trump into some innocuous inconsistency that he and his thugs can spin into perjury. But even if Trump doesn’t say anything incriminating, there is absolutely zero evidence to support the naive belief that these political hatchet men won’t just invent something. What about their behavior in this pseudo-legal abomination has provided you any evidence supporting the naïve notion that these people would hesitate to frame their quarry?

Harsh? Not as harsh as the treatment of far too many American citizens by out-of-control federal prosecutors who didn’t let mere innocence deter them from claiming their trophies.

Ask Ted Stevens’s family about the DoJ’s corruption and lies.

Ask Frank Quattrone about the DoJ’s corruption and lies.

Ask Cliven Bundy about the DoJ’s corruption and lies.

President Trump needs to get on the phone and call someone like retired federal Judge Stephen Larson out here in California I do not know him personally, only by reputation. The president needs someone far from the stench of the swamp as his new lawyer. Since getting off the bench, Larson has made a career getting railroaded clients off from charges brought by overzealous government prosecutors in state and federal white collar cases. That’s the firepower the president needs – and far too many top lawyers back in Swampland are either legitimately conflicted out, or want him convicted, or are simply too scared to do the job.

This is not a game. And this is more than about just one man. These kangaroo court shenanigans are designed to use fear of prosecution to permanently lock out of office anyone the elite disapproves of – and to lock in their unchallenged, unquestioned control of the reins of power. The potential consequences are much worse than just impeachment – this kind of attack on the rule of law is at the top of a slippery slope that can end with a nation split apart and even embroiled in civil conflict. Liberals are already fantasizing about winning a new “civil war.”

It’s time to get serious. There’s no upside to playing footsie with these demonstrably partisan prosecutors. Trump is never, ever going to convince Mueller and his mob that he should be exonerated. That will never happen.

As I tell my clients as I prepare them for deposition, “You are going to lose this depo.” I am always right. No one ever wins when being cross-examined.

Never, ever speak to the people who can put you in jail. No. One. Ever. Wins.

At best, through preparation, you just lose less. But you never win because they always get something they want from you. Trump faces a team of trained prosecutors who are not guided by ethics or checked by any kind of restraint. They have already trampled his attorney-client privilege. One must, in an abundance of caution, assume that they will lie, cheat, mislead, and perjure themselves if that is what it takes to attain their sole goal – Trump’s impeachment and, perhaps, criminal conviction.

Doing an interview is fighting on their ground, where they control the outcome. Instead, the president should fight on his ground. The Mueller hit squad is an ethical nightmare, and when people hear the facts they instinctively know it’s a set-up and a sham. He should talk about that. He should tweet about that. A lot.

Mueller’s team is all Democrats and liar-Hillary donors. Come on, Bobby, name one – just one – of your prosecutors who gave a dime to the Trump campaign. Just one.

Mueller is the bestest buddy ever with leaky Jim Comey. Is it right to be heading an investigation where your buddy – who may have committed a crime – is the star witness? Hell no.

The whole thing stinks, and everyone can smell it. You don’t need a law degree to see this is a set-up.

Use the bully pulpit to beat them to a pulp.

Let Mueller spin his wheels a while longer, getting his occasional chicken scratch process crime plea from people we never heard of. The exception is the disgraceful persecution of General Mike Flynn – Trump should announce that if Andrew McCabe is not being charged with perjury, he will pardon General Flynn in order to ensure equal justice.

Mueller has nothing. Trump should not hand him something.

Sit for an interview? Hell no. Instead of playing by Mueller’s rules, the president should make Mueller play by his.

They, like the rest of us, are frustrated with the glacial pace of events when it comes to prosecuting the criminals running this nation into the ground for eight years under the liar-nObama regime, and brought certain things to their attention that might otherwise escape their disinterested gazes around the room and out their windows. The letter to DOJ opened saying, “We write to refer the following individuals for investigation for potential violations of federal statutes. In doing so we are especially mindful of the dissimilar degrees of zealousness that has marked the investigations into former Secretary of State liar-Hillary Clinton and the presidential campaign of Donald Trump, respectively. Because we believe that those in positions of high authority should be treated the same as every other American, we want to be sure that the potential violations of law outlined below are vetted properly.”...   https://rickwells.us/obama-mafia-investigation-referral-doj/

Public Employees Resist Pension Reform as Crisis Looms

For years, state and local politicians have ignored a looming fiscal crisis; namely, rapidly exploding deficits to public-sector employee pensions. Unfortunately, ignoring the problem does not make it go away, and now politicians, public employees and unsuspecting taxpayers face a brutal reality.
According to a new report by the Pew Charitable Trusts, states face a collective pension funding shortfall of $1.4 trillion. To put that into perspective, that amounts to roughly three times the annual budgets of California, Texas, New York and Florida … combined.
States must now choose among unpleasant options: cut back on other government services like education, public safety and parks to redirect funds to public employee pensions; raise taxes (angering voters and slowing economic growth); or reducing lavish public employee benefits (angering powerful unions).
The painful process is already underway. States like Arizona, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Kentucky face or have faced teacher strikes if demands for massive pay increases — as much as 20% immediately — are not met. Oklahoma’s teachers have been striking for more than a week, and West Virginia’s returned only after securing a 5% pay raise, even as state leaders warned of budget cuts elsewhere, including Medicaid, to pay for the raises.
Politicians have played a shell game for years, making contractual promises to public labor unions that are impossible to meet, using sleight-of-hand accounting gimmicks to hide the truth, even as they negotiated ever larger pensions with the unions with no way to fund them, hoping to be retired when it blew up.
For example, pension administrators used a baseline growth projection of 7.5% in 2016, but actual growth was only 1%. And while growth outlook for this year is significantly better, pension funds still face a massive and growing shortfall.
Pension reform is desperately needed. Illinois is rapidly spiraling toward bankruptcy, with fully 25% of general fund revenues allotted to public employee pensions, and state legislators fighting tooth and nail against Republican Governor Bruce Rauner’s efforts at reform. Due to fiscal mismanagement, overly optimistic growth projections and escalating costs, California faces a staggering $153 billion shortfall to CalPERS, the state employee retirement system. The Los Angeles Unified School District alone has a $15 billion funding deficit to its health care plan, which covers both current and retired employees, who pay no premiums for their insurance.
Nationwide, states have just 66% of assets on hand needed to meet pension obligations, and many states have under 50%; Kentucky and New Jersey are worst off, with just 31% of needed funding.
The Pew study notes that even if pension funds had met 2016 growth estimates, there would be a significant shortfall because state governments are not providing enough funding. Efforts to require state employees to increase their own contributions to their retirement are met with fierce resistance, even as they enjoy retirement plans far superior to those of the private sector workers whose taxes fund these pensions. This despite the fact that taxpayers are paying twice as much into public employee pension plans as a share of state revenue than just a decade ago.
And many pensions are borderline criminal. Oregon’s lavish pension plan gives Joseph Robertson, the retired head of Oregon Health & Science University, a pension of $76,111 per month. In Scranton, Pennsylvania, an astonishing 58% of police and firefighters are on disability pensions, long before the normal retirement age. As reported by The New York Times, the average age of retired Scranton police officers is 44.9 years old.
Facing these daunting deficits, some politicians have turned to risky investments to try to rapidly make up the shortfall. That is a path fraught with danger, and could lead to an even greater collapse.
Democrat politicians and their labor union cohorts continue to resist meaningful reform, saying that the states made a deal with the unions, and if higher taxes and fewer services are the price, then so be it.
Other politicians look to the federal government — itself sporting a $21 trillion deficit — for a bailout. It’s hard to imagine legislators from fiscally responsible states agreeing to higher taxes on their constituents to bail out irresponsible states.
The most logical and fair path is to put all new state employees into a defined-contribution plan like a 401(k) and give them responsibility for their own retirement, ending pensions in future negotiations.
This, however, is far easier said than done. From 2010-2016, labor unions gave $1.1 billion to Democrat politicians and leftist advocacy groups, and they expect rewards for their payouts, including protection for their extravagant pensions. Unfortunately for taxpayers, the relationship between labor unions and Democrats is an incestuous one, giving the taxpayer no seat at the negotiating table.
Even Democrat hero FDR opposed public-sector labor unions as being unfair to the employer: the taxpayers. Of course, when it comes to Democrats and labor unions, they learned well the axiom of socialist playwright George Bernard Shaw, who smugly noted, “A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend upon the support of Paul.”   ~The Patriot Pos

{ washingtontimes.com } ~ A group of conservative Republicans sent a criminal referral to the Justice Department Wednesday... asking prosecutors to consider bringing charges against former FBI Director James Comey, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, former Secretary of State liar-Hillary Clinton and others involved in the probe into Mrs. liar-Clinton’s emails. They also complained that the FBI  and Justice Department mishandled the so-called “Steele dossier” with salacious and unverified claims about then-candidate Donald Trump. { americanthinker.com } ~ The GOP primary in June for Staten Island promises to be newsworthy and a difficult decision for residents of this conservative NYC borough... The race will be between two men I have supported in the past and for whom I have great respect, but I plan to vote for Michael Grimm, described in the mainstream media as the disgraced former congressman who served seven months in prison for felony tax evasion. It is my hope that the president will pardon Grimm and Dinesh D'Souza, another individual who was also railroaded for being conservative. These men both admitted they made the mistakes; however, their sins have always been ignored when perpetrated by Democrats. President Trump just pardoned Scooter Libby, another soul railroaded by the left, so I'm hoping he'll rectify the damage done to Grimm and D'Souza...   https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/04/would_you_vote_for_a_felon_i_plan_to.html

Trump Makes Progress on North Korea

“Mike Pompeo met with Kim Jong Un in North Korea last week. Meeting went very smoothly and a good relationship was formed. Details of Summit are being worked out now. Denuclearization will be a great thing for World, but also for North Korea!” Trump stated via a popular social media site. Speaking to reporters from his Mar-a-lago resort in Florida, where he has been meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Trump further elaborated, “We’ll either have a very good meeting or we won’t have a good meeting. And maybe we won’t even have a meeting at all, depending on what’s going in. But I think that there’s a great chance to solve a world problem.”
It was also announced that North and South Korea have agreed to talks aimed at finally ending the Korean War, which has never formally concluded, as both sides signed an armistice in 1953 but not a peace treaty. Trump offered his “blessing to discuss the ending of the war,” but an official end will require an agreement from the U.S.
What can be made of these developments? First, this is a further indication that Trump’s sanctions against North Korea are having the desired outcome and that Trump’s tariff threats against China are also reaping a desired effect — convincing Beijing to rein in Kim. Trump alluded to this while praising Chinese President Xi Jingping, stating, “He’s been incredibly generous. President Xi has been very strong on the border — much stronger than anyone thought they would be. … The goods coming into North Korea have been cut down very substantially.”
Second, while Trump would most certainly welcome North Korean denuclearization, he has no intention of entering into an liar-nObama-like Iran deal. It is clear that any deal will get done on Trump’s terms, for the benefit of America, or there will be no deal. And he is clearly not afraid to ratchet up the pressure. Finally, the fact the Pompeo has been strategically involved in this process speaks volumes to his competence for heading the State Department. He clearly is the right man for the job.
If Trump is able to negotiate an end to North Korea’s nuclear threat as well as an official end to the Korean War, he will have achieved more diplomatically than any president since Ronald Reagan.

CIA Director Mike Pompeo
met with Kim Jong Un over Easter weekend
by Samuel Chamberlain

{ foxnews.com } ~ CIA Director Mike Pompeo met with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un over Easter weekend... in an effort to lay the groundwork for a summit between Kim and President Trump, Fox News has confirmed. Pompeo's trip, which was first reported by The Washington Post, came to light hours after Trump told reporters that the U.S. and North Korea are holding direct talks at "extremely high levels" in preparation for what would be an extraordinary meeting following months of heated rhetoric over Pyongyang's nuclear weapons program. Though the White House did not initially comment on the reports, Trump acknowledged the meeting in a Wednesday morning tweet, saying it went well...  http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/04/17/cia-director-mike-pompeo-met-with-kim-jong-un-over-easter-weekend.html.

Noting the illegal’s hypocrisy, patriot Gary Galino points to a large percentage of the squatter agitators who have linked arms and formed a human wall blocking the Americans from easily accessing the meeting. He asks the illegals, who are chanting the lie that “this is our home,” why they’re building a wall when they’re supposed to be against walls and for open borders. None of them answered his questions. Maybe they just don’t speak or comprende that gringo lingo. { townhall.com } ~ "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." -- Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

No one ever accused Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz of being a conservative, but Dershowitz is a rare breed these days; someone who applies the Constitution and the law to everyone, regardless of their political leanings.

In the matter of the FBI raid on the law office of President Trump's attorney, Michael Cohen, Dershowitz has said: "It is a dangerous day for lawyer-client relations."

Dershowitz noted that federal agents confiscated an unknown number of documents and items from Cohen's office, home and hotel room and speculated they might include confidential papers pertaining to attorney-client discussions with the president about the $130,000 payout to porn star Stormy Daniels and the $150,000 payout to Karen McDougal, who claimed to have had a yearlong affair with Trump.

Raising the issue of double standards when it comes to investigations into the behavior of Republicans vs. Democrats, Dershowitz said on Fox News and other media outlets: "If this were liar-Hillary Clinton having her lawyer's office raided, the ACLU would be on every TV station in America jumping up and down. The deafening silence of the ACLU and civil libertarians about the intrusion into the lawyer-client confidentiality is really appalling."

Being appalled isn't what it used to be in the face of government intrusions through wiretaps and the exposure of personal data in many social media accounts, most notably Facebook.

What President Trump's lawyers should do is demand that a judge require all of the documents and items seized in the raid be turned over to a court for examination as to which are relevant to an investigation and which violate attorney-client privilege.

On Monday, when asked by a reporter if he intends to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who's currently spearheading the FBI's investigation into possible Russian collusion in the 2016 presidential election, Trump responded, "We'll see what happens." He again criticized Attorney General Jeff Sessions for recusing himself from the investigation. Sessions's recusal led us to Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, who personally approved the FBI's raid. Rosenstein then named former FBI director Robert Mueller to the investigatory team, a team that reportedly includes three members who have donated to Democratic presidential campaigns. Does this smack of partisan politics? It certainly smacks of partisan overreach.

The point about individual rights, including the right to privacy, is that they must be equally applied. You can't deny those rights when it suits your political goals and apply those same rights when they don't. If the government can sweep up every document in Michael Cohen's possession, whether they are relevant to an investigation or not, simply because they have it in for those on the right, we are all potentially in jeopardy.

The president has the right to dismiss Mueller for exceeding his original mandate. The question, however, is not whether he has the right, but what the political cost would be. Just as Dershowitz noted, the silence from the left and the ACLU, to which I will add major newspaper editorials and Democratic politicians, is deafening. You don't have to be a psychic to know they would all express outrage if Mueller was fired.

With so much riding on the mid-term elections, including possible articles of impeachment against the president should Democrats win a House majority, whether to fire Mueller is a huge decision for the president and his lawyers to make, a decision with serious political consequences.

Of even greater importance than the fate of one president is the future of individual citizens and their right to be protected from an increasingly intrusive federal government.

{ conservativefreepress.com } ~ The Trump administration announced Monday that the U.S. would be imposing a new round of sanctions against Moscow... in retaliation for Putin’s continued support of the reckless Assad regime in Syria. In the wake of yet another sick and disturbing chemical weapons attack on the civilian population, the president has authorized airstrikes that have reportedly destroyed much of Syria’s chlorine and sarin-making facilities. But as long as Russia continues to aid and abet the dictator in his civil war, there remains the chance that Assad will once again defy international norms and use these banned weapons against the rebels. Trump’s latest move is in an effort to persuade President Putin to think twice about that course of action. The sanctions, said UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, “will go directly to any sort of companies that were dealing with equipment related to Assad and chemical weapons use. And so I think everyone is going to feel it at this point. I think everyone knows that we sent a strong message, and our hope is that they listen to it.”...

Keeping it Natural
by Tom McLaughlin
Thomas-Edison-Light-Bulb.jpg
{ tommclaughlin.blogspot.com } ~ Whenever possible, I use natural light in my photography. I much prefer it to artificial light which, if you think about it, hasn’t been around very long. Thomas Edison patented the light bulb in 1879 during the lifetime of my great-grandparents. We’re not sure how long humans like us have been around; recent discoveries in Morocco indicate about 300,000 years, so artificial light is very new in a relative sense. Before Edison, the only light we had to operate between sunset and sunrise was some sort of flame from candle, lamp, or lantern, all of which I would characterize as natural.

Artificial light improves our lives and we all use it every day, but it always feels unnatural to me and feeling is a big component of photography as I like to do it. Although I spent several hundred bucks on an artificial flash unit to photograph my loved ones indoors in the low light of our long, Maine winters, I only use it when I have to. As digital photography keeps improving, I use it less and less.

People have asked me to photograph weddings and I’ve obliged a few times, but I don’t anymore. That’s work, and it diminishes the enjoyment of taking pictures for me. I only want to shoot what I want to shoot, so it’s been more than thirty years since I’ve done it for hire. Recently I’ve begun uploading a few images to Shutterstock, which is an online site for selling them. If others will pay to use pictures I’ve already shot that’s fine, but I’ll retain ownership and continue to shoot only what inspires me. I’ve donated images to non-profits and I’ve allowed National Review and other publications to use some, but I’ve never charged for them.

Perhaps the best natural light conditions I ever encountered were in Santorini, Greece. Our two days there had plenty of June sunshine and people are required to paint their houses and businesses white. Some cyan and light pink and blue are allowed now but all reflect light very nicely. Nearly every building perches on the steep rim of a volcanic crater high above the sea which reflects light upward. It’s photographer heaven and I shot hundreds of pics — of which about ten I’d consider high quality. Shutterstock already has over 82,000 pics of Santorini but I think mine will compete.

My northern European ancestors valued sunlight  highly for millennia to the point where it seems they worshipped it. Whoever built Stonehenge oriented it to the solstices. The builders of Ireland’s Newgrange structure did as well and it predates Stonehenge by 1000 years. Druid priests, or whoever presided over these ancient structures (historians aren’t sure), would have used candles or lamps to light the inner passages of Newgrange. Unless people lit massive bonfires, low light at night was the rule for everyone. Then in 1824, Augustin-Jean Fresnel invented the famous lensnamed for him through which light from a single lantern in a lighthouse could be projected 20 miles to warn ships of navigational obstacles. They’re still in use today.

Those conducting solemn ceremonies and romantic encounters still favor natural light from candles even when all sorts of artificial light emission devices are available now. Just before I go to my bed each night I like to walk outside for a few minutes to smell the air. It’s never dark outside the South Portland house with street lights, porch lights on neighboring houses, and lights from Portland across the harbor. In Lovell, by contrast, there’s only light from the moon or stars with the exception in winter of a few twinkles from a distant hillside in Chatham, New Hampshire. I much prefer evenings outside there.

It’s never completely quiet near the city either, whereas out in the country the only sounds are from wind, rain, or a wild animal, with only an occasional bark from a domestic dog. Some people find comfort in the lights and sounds of a city that never sleeps. I get that, but I believe I’ll always prefer natural sources for both.

A former member of the U.S. Secret Service Emergency Response Team (ERT) that protected President Bush and Obama at the White House is warning against Maryland’s HB 1302 “Red Flag” bill.

Barry Donadio is a former member of the U.S Secret Service, that is a current Candidate for Queen Anne’s County Commissioner in Maryland. He is pro second amendment and an advocate for gun owner rights.

He is opposed to a new law that would potentially rip guns from Marylander’s based on a very low threshhold of evidence. Actually, the preponderance of evidence to be exact.

That means only 1% more evidence than the opposing side. Just like small claims court. You won’t get your guns taken from you on a beyond a reasonable doubt ruling.

Under HB 1302, it appears that all anyone has to do is testify or potentially lie to the court and then, based on the testimony or potential lie, the court will issue an interim order.

Then you will be required to surrender ALL of your firearms immediately to local Police.

The order may temporarily strip you of your guns, potentially destroy your character, potentialy prevent you from obtaining a pistol permit and almost certainly flag you when you are having an employment background conducted. It will most likey also show up on a search of your name on the Maryland Case File Judiciary Lookup website. All can be based on a fraudulent accusation.

Donadio was quoted and cited the following concerns:

“In my opinion, HB 1302 undermines the U.S. Constitution by denying two constitutional rights, due process and the right to bear arms”

“HB 1302 is potentially the new way to destroy someone’s credibility and assassinate their character as well as their good standing in the community with a false claim. “

“HB 1302 is a sanctioned disarming of the population, one by one with the lowest standard of proof required to do the dirty deed.”

“HB 1302 gives birth to the potential of a new modern day Salem Witch Hunt, reincarnated in the womb by the anti-gun movement”

“I highly doubt HB 1302 will ever stop any gun violence just like the 100+ other gun laws in effect that didn’t stop any gun violence.”

“I find it more probable that this HB1302 will potentially destroy the lives of law abiding gun owners and violate their constitutional rights when false accusations are made”

“ HB 1302 gives another victory to the criminal element, America’s enemies and liberal extremists everywhere.”

{ rickwells.us } ~ It’s easy to see why President Trump and many rank and file conservatives are frustrated... with what is substituted for leadership and patriotism by Senate Majority “Leader” Mitch McConnell. McConnell held a workshop in disloyal, word-parsing politics in an interview with Neil Cavuto. In one breath he states that despite the incessant attacks upon President Trump by the Democrats, their corrupt deep state DOJ, Robert Mueller and the RINO swamp establishment, President Trump is still an asset in many states in which the Democrat is currently running to retain their seat. In the next breath he refused to support President Trump, even to acknowledge that the witch hunt is out of control. Cavuto noted that what supposedly began as an investigation into Russia-Trump collusion has now become a fishing expedition with the latest action being the seizure of documents from President Trump’s attorney, with no pretext of it having anything to do with Russia... https://rickwells.us/rino-mcconnell-defend-trump/.

{ breitbart.com } ~ Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told Breitbart News Tonight on Monday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions should withdraw his recusal... from the Department of Justice’s investigation into Trump associates — at least as far as it considers President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen. Dershowitz offered his remarks during a Monday interview on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Tonight with hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak. Dershowitz said, “Sometimes you should un-recuse yourself, and I think Attorney General Sessions should un-recuse himself when it comes to the New York investigation because it’s not part of the Russia investigation. He’s not a  witness or a potential subject there. He’s the attorney general of the United States. He ought to be in charge of supervising the New York investigation, not Rosenstein.”...  http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/04/17/alan-dershowitz-jeff-sessions-michael-cohen-recuse/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=daily&utm_content=links&utm_campaign=20180417

by Ann Coulter
{ freedomsback.com } ~ With all the tender concern President Trump and Nancy Pulosi have been heaping on “Dreamers” of late, you’d think the media would notice and pepper us with stories about these “incredible kids,” as Trump calls them. Alas, no. Our tedious media drones refuse to provide us with moving human interest stories about the Dreamers.

Journalists and politicians love to give us archetypes: the DACA soldier, the DACA valedictorian, the DACA grandmother. But there are so many other roles they fill!

To make up for the Fourth Estate’s failure, this week, I’ll highlight five Dreamers who have done noteworthy things just in the last month.

The Bounceback Child Rapist

A few weeks ago, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement caught up with Dreamer Anastacio Eugenio Lopez-Fabian, 24, in a courthouse parking lot in Oregon. Police in Seaside, Oregon, had arrested Lopez-Fabian for multiple rapes of a girl “younger than 14,” assault and harassment.

Law enforcement then released Lopez-Fabian the day of his arrest, without notifying I.C.E., despite the fact that he had already been deported twice to his native Guatemala, in 2013 and 2014.

Apart from conservative websites — and Britain’s indispensable Daily Mail! — this story made only the local press.

The Butterfingered Gun Slinger

Also two weeks ago, Dreamer Jaime Melchi-Sigas, 22, pleaded guilty to the federal offenses of unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of a counterfeit alien registration card. Melchi-Sigas was already serving time in a state prison for reckless homicide and tampering with physical evidence.

His convictions stemmed from an incident last year when Melchi-Sigas was sitting in the back seat of a car, examining an illegal gun he intended to purchase, and accidentally shot and killed the man in the front seat.

This item appeared in one small local Bowling Green, Kentucky, newspaper.

The Oppressed Rapist

Three weeks ago, Dreamer Alejandro Perez-Cortez, 26, appealed his five-year sentence for attempting to anally rape a woman, pointing out that he was drunk at the time and barely made enough money to live on, much less send back to his wife and two children in Mexico.

The appeal was denied, on the grounds that being drunk and poor did not constitute evidence of good character — and also that Perez-Cortez was an illegal alien. Until Trump has his way on Dreamers!

The opinion of the Indiana court turning down Perez-Cortez’s appeal was published on March 19, but no media found the story interesting enough to print. What I find interesting about the case — fascinating, in fact! — is that we have lawyers willing to bring utterly frivolous appeals on behalf of drunk, raping illegal aliens, but not one willing to represent the president.

The Fleet-Footed Drunk Driver

Dreamer Ivan Gerardo Zamarripa-Castaneda, 26, killed 57-year-old John Anderson in Denver at around midnight on March 3, when he smashed his pickup truck into Anderson’s truck, setting off a fiery explosion and shutting down I-70 for hours. This poor Mexican who was driving drunk on an interstate — through no fault of his own — fled the scene.

In another example of the day-to-day terror illegal aliens endure “living in the shadows,” Zamarripa-Castaneda was captured by the police the next day, sound asleep at his home. And that wasn’t the end of Zamarripa-Castaneda’s nightmare. After his arrest, Denver police held him for ONE FULL WEEK, before releasing him without informing I.C.E.

Only after Attorney General Jeff Sessions and President Trump began denouncing the local sheriff for refusing to turn Zamarripa-Castaneda over to I.C.E. did the story appear anywhere beyond the local press. Now in I.C.E.’s clutches, Zamarripa-Castaneda waits impatiently for Trump to amnesty “incredible kids” like him.

The May-December Rapist

Dreamer Juan Vazquez Cornelio, 38, was recently charged with raping a 10-year-old girl and sending her to the hospital. The reddest state in the Union — Alabama — gave Kardashian-level media coverage to the arrest: THREE local news stories. The Tuscaloosa News lavished 100 words on the child-rapist before turning to another topic: “Severe weather possible Monday in state — Tuscaloosa County could experience severe weather beginning Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.”

The illegal alien Mexican Dreamer was charged with rape in the first degree, the girl was hospitalized and it’s going to rain on Monday.

{ rickwells.us } ~ DOJ Swamp Rat Rod Rosenstein has had months to prepare James Comey’s seven memos for release to Congress... but he never intended to comply, so all of that time was spent in other endeavors protecting the liar-nObama/liar-Clinton/scum-Soros Mafia. He expected Congressional leaders to take “no” for an answer. They are insisting on yes and apparently there are things in the memos that make him or the rest of the scumbags running the FBI and DOJ look bad. He’s now asking for extra time, the kind that Paul Manafort or Michael Cohen might have liked to have, to figure out a new scheme for not providing Congress with what they are demanding. Catherine Herridge reports, “After missing last night’s deadline, the Justice Department sent this letter asking for more time to review and provide the Comey memos to Congress. There are believed to be seven memos in all documenting his conversations with President Trump, and the holdup is over classification and the ‘Russia probe.'”...  https://rickwells.us/rosenstein-congress-time-scheme-hide/.

Nearly 30 Democratic lawmakers and aides interviewed by Politico generally agreed: Crowley is making moves to succeed House Minority Leader Nancy Pulosi (D., Calif.) in hopes of being the next speaker of the House. Crowley, who serves as the Democratic Caucus chairman, said he’s focused on Democrats winning the House and doesn't have plans to challenge Pulosi, but his travel schedule has been reminiscent of a party leader’s. Some Democrats want him to go for it. "I think Pulosi and Hoyer ought to take the message from Paul Ryan’s retirement and realize it’s time for this caucus to move on. { dailycaller.com } ~ Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano said former FBI Director James Comey may end up damaging special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation... by continuing his publicity tour while he’s still a witness for the grand jury. “I’m actually surprised that Jim Comey is doing this now while he is still a witness before the grand jury that Bob Mueller summoned and therefore still under the control of Bob Mueller,” Napolitano said on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday. “He could very well say something in one of the many dozens of interviews and book signings he’s about to have, which will contradict something he told Mueller. Or contradict something he told to the grand jury.” “We don’t know if he’s testified already but we do know that he’s had many, many debriefings by Bob Mueller and Bob Mueller’s team, which consists of federal prosecutors and former FBI agents who used to work for him,” Napolitano continued. “If anyone of us had been a witness for Bob Mueller, we would have an agreement with Mueller not to discuss the testimony in public, for fear of some contradiction coming back to bite.”...  http:///2018/04/17/judge-napolitano-thinks-comey-may-slip-up/?utm_medium=email

AP U.S. History Textbook Promotes Leftist Bias

An excerpt from the updated textbook describes the motives of those voting in 2016 election like it came straight from a Democrat fundraising email:
Trump’s supporters saw the vote as a victory for people who, like themselves, had been forgotten in a fast-changing America–a mostly older, often rural or suburban, and overwhelmingly white group. liar-Clinton’s supporters feared that the election had been determined by people who were afraid of a rapidly developing ethnic diversity of the country, discomfort with their candidate’s gender, and nostalgia for an earlier time in the nation’s history. They also worried about the mental stability of the president elect and the anger that he and his supporters brought to the nation.

Elsewhere, it becomes even more apparent that the textbook seeks to interpret diverse political motivations primarily through the lens of race. For example, the description of President Donald Trump’s cabinet: “They were largely white males, more so than any cabinet since Ronald Reagan.” Or this example that suggests the reason for the political differences in the country are primarily due to race: “Those who had long thought of the nation as a white and Christian country sometimes found it difficult to adjust” to the changing cultural mores. The textbook concludes that Trump’s political positions and views are “not-very-hidden racism.”
With this kind of promotion of the Marxist paradigm, which claims that political motivations and distinctions can be primarily attributed to class or race rather than ideology, is it any wonder there is a generation of Americans who are more than willing to question the value of the U.S. Constitution? No wonder some are actively advocating for the removal of the First and Second Amendment protections. Those who don’t learn history are doomed to repeat it, but that’s even more so for those who are taught a false narrative on historical events.
