No, the Electoral College Is Not a ‘National Security Threat’

( It amaze how little the American people about the supreme law of the land our CONSTITUTION! They don't even know why the Electoral College exist!  If don't know why the Electoral College exist so that no one state can  dominate the elections because their population is greater than all the other states population   )

Principles for  a FREE SOCIETY

Following Hillary Clinton’s electoral defeat and Donald Trump’s ascension to the Walll hite House, numerous progressives came out of the woodwork to call for the end of the Electoral College in favor of a national popular vote.

While most of the arguments against our over two-century-old system revolve around it not being purely democratic and being weighted toward smaller states, a recent commentary in Politico has stretched that attack to an absurd limit.

Matthew Olsen, a member of the National Security Agency under President Barack Obama, and Benjamin Haas, a West Point graduate and current student at Stanford University, argued that the Electoral College is antiquated and even dangerous because hostile foreign powers can micro-target populations in certain states to tip the election.

Further, the writers argue that the Founders couldn’t possibly have imagined how new technology, like Facebook, could perpetuate false ideas and that foreign powers would disseminate lies.

This leads them to suggest moving to a national popular vote, which they suggest is somehow a safer way to elect presidents.

Their arguments demonstrate both an amazing amount of hubris in assuming they, our nouveau elite, know better than the Founders, and stunning ignorance in thinking the creators of the Constitution had no experience with “fake news.”

There is a lot to untangle from what seems to be a rather absurd and roundabout excuse for Clinton’s defeat, but it’s worth debunking.

Why We Have an Electoral College

The Electoral College was not just a quirky idea the Framers cobbled together without serious consideration for how it would be used by future generations.

The office of the presidency and the method by which our leaders would be selected are perhaps the most explicit aspects of the Constitution, and they were the products of ferocious debate.

The Founders wanted to create a system by which the country’s only true national leader could be chosen by a process that would contain vital elements of both federalism—or state power—and democracy.

Also, given their vast experience of dealing with foreign powers that wanted to see America fail, and local manipulators who wanted to tip elections, the Framers of the Constitution created a carefully calibrated process that would help create a stable, legitimate system to serve a free people.

The product was a brilliant process, born of design and compromise, that has created over two centuries of stable and virtually uncontested elections.

This accomplishment often goes unacknowledged. But as governments rose and fell through the centuries, ours has steamed along. We have, in part, the Electoral College to thank for this political miracle.

Foreign Intrigues

As the Politico writers noted, Alexander Hamilton defended the Electoral College in Federalist No. 68.

Hamilton believed the indirect method of “electors” choosing a president after the states had voted in their separate capacities would protect America from foreign intrigues that would seek to enable “Manchurian” candidates to become president.

The Politico writers dismiss this reasoning, saying:

Hamilton and his colleagues never could have envisioned a year like 2016, when an enemy state—Russia—was able to manipulate America’s election process with stunning effectiveness.

Actually, they could.

The late 18th and early 19th centuries were rife with foreign powers meddling in American elections. It was in some ways much easier for the superpowers of Europe to use propaganda in fighting proxy wars to tip the scales of our elections one way or another.

For example, Citizen Edmond Genet, a French diplomat to the United States, tried to tip the American population toward supporting his country in its wars against Great Britain in the 1790s.

He and other French radicals engaged in a massive campaign to turn Americans against President George Washington’s administration to get a pro-French candidate elected. This more or less failed, and Washington served two terms without serious challenge.

The fact is, there is simply no way of entirely avoiding outside influence and the flow of information in a free country.

It is something America has perpetually dealt with, and mostly overcome.

Fake News, Nothing New

The argument that “fake news” is simply a modern phenomenon that the Founders couldn’t have anticipated is absurd.

That fraudulent stories and ideas could be rapidly perpetuated and could change people’s minds was widely understood and acknowledged by the men who created our form of government.

At the Constitutional Convention, curmudgeonly Founder Elbridge Gerry said the following of fake news and democracy:

The people do not want [lack] virtue, but are the dupes of pretended patriots. In Massachusetts it had been fully confirmed by experience, that they are daily misled into the most baneful measures and opinions, by the false reports circulated by designing men, and which no one on the spot can refute.

Campaigns then and thereafter were filled with false reports, unsubstantiated rumors, absurd accusations, and a whole lot of lies.

What was the Founders’ solution to this problem? Create a system that fostered a culture of free speech and debate while mitigating the impact of pure democracy.

The answer is not a national popular vote or government censors determining what is real news and what is fake. It’s in supporting the First Amendment and the wisely crafted electoral system that the Founders gifted us with.

Ultimately, fake news, micro-targeting, and “voter suppression” can hardly be blamed for Clinton’s electoral defeat when she couldn’t be bothered to campaign in one of the states that ultimately swung the election.

And simply having the larger, national pool of voters can’t prevent foreign governments from trying to sway votes and tip elections.

The fact that Trump turned solid blue states like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania red is a sign that the Electoral College works the way it was intended. It vindicates the idea that regional interests are diverse and that a national candidate should appeal to small and mid-size states, not just the most populous ones.

While the Politico writers bemoan foreign influence in American elections—a worthy concern—pointing to the Electoral College as the problem is barking up the wrong tree.

And if they are so worried about what they called vote “hacking,” perhaps they should support the voter fraud commission that could help weed out illegal votes and ensure election integrity in the states instead of laying waste to our time-tested electoral process.

Regardless, the Electoral College is not a danger to the United States. It is instead a critical element of preserving our national sovereignty and the federalism that strengthens it. ‘JUSTICE-PRICING’: Filmmaker Charges White Males $5 More for Tickets

Super-woke Canadian filmmaker Shiraz Higgins has implemented his own so-called “justice-pricing” policy, where he charges white males an extra $5 to view his movie.

The 27-year-old filmmaker (yes, he’s a millennial, can you believe it?) is charging white males $15 a ticket and all others $10, apparently as a way to level-out all that white male privilege.

Higgins told The Canadian Press that the “justice-pricing” is “not a publicity stunt” but “based on the purchasing power of individual groups and ‘price discrimination.'”

“This is not a publicity stunt,” he said. Organizers are “pushing forward because we believe it is an important piece of overall conversation that is happening in society right now,” added Higgins. You ‘Really Have to Be Blind’ to Ignore This Obama Scandal

Thursday evening, Conservative Review Editor-in-Chief Mark Levin weighed in on Samantha Power’s role in “unmasking” individuals during the final days of the Obama administration.

“This grave scandal is […] the Obama administration’s abuse of power like we’ve never seen in modern American history,” said Levin.

Fox News reported Wednesday that Power, as U.S. ambassador to the U.N., made more than 260 requests to identify Americans whose names surfaced in foreign intelligence reporting last year. In her role as ambassador, Power had no apparent intelligence-related function, making her unmasking requests highly suspect.

“You really have to be blind if you don’t see the extent to which the prior administration violated our trust, violated our rules, violated the law in using the power of the federal government to wiretap, to conduct other forms of espionage, to abuse the FISA courts, to abuse the warrants that they received to target people they disagreed with, including with the IRS … to target people they disagreed with including with the FBI and the Justice Department,” Levin said.

And what is most appalling is the behavior of the media, Levin said, who are in “full cover-up mode.”

Listen:

“This isn’t a joke,” Levin said. “This is issue number one.” (For more from the author of “You ‘Really Have to Be Blind’ to Ignore This Obama Scandal” please click HERE) http://joemiller.us/2017/09/really-blind-ignore-obama-scandal/

BREAKING: Top Obama Official Who Unmasked Over 250 Americans Right Before Election Was Just EXPOSED..

SHARES

So it turns out that everything Devin Nunes told us about Obama unmasking Americans during the elections was 100% true. Now, thanks to a new report, we finally know WHICH of Obama’s top people was doing the unmasking.

According to the report from FOX, former UN Ambassador Samantha Power used unmasking more than 260 times during 2016 right up until Trump’s inauguration in January.

The two sources, who chose to remain anonymous, both said that Power was ordering an unmasking almost every single working day of 2016.jaksfbkjbfasasaf-696x392.png

Samantha Power is expected to make an appearance on Capitol Hill next month to answer Congressional questions about her role in the unmasking of Trump officials during an election.

Of course, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes had already revealed his discovery of hundreds of unmaskings of Americans in 2016 to DNI Director Dan Coates, but he did not yet have a name. Now, we do.

This revelation comes out right after one about a wiretap on Paul Manafort during his one week as a Trump campaign official as well as the Awan family cutting a deal with the government. One cannot help but wonder if they are all connected or if the timing really is purely coincidence.

Of course, the next question we need to be answered is, “What roles did Susan Rice, John Brennan, and Barack Obama play in this?”Related image

They are all FAR from innocent and if they were spying on a different party’s political campaign and using ANY of that info to their advantage, even now, someone NEEDS to go to jail.

The U.S. intelligence official who “unmasked,” or exposed, the names of multiple private citizens affiliated with the Trump team is someone “very well known, very high up, very senior in the intelligence world,” a source told Fox News on Friday

Intelligence and House sources with direct knowledge of the disclosure of classified names told Fox News that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., now knows who is responsible — and that person is not in the FBI.

For a private citizen to be “unmasked,” or named, in an intelligence report is extremely rare. Typically, the American is a suspect in a crime, is in danger or has to be named to explain the context of the report.Image result for BREAKING: Top Obama Official Who Unmasked Over 250 Americans Right Before Election Was Just EXPOSED

“The main issue in this case, is not only the unmasking of these names of private citizens, but the spreading of these names for political purposes that have nothing to do with national security or an investigation into Russia’s interference in the U.S. election,” a congressional source close to the investigation told Fox News.

The unmasking of Americans whose communications apparently were caught up in surveillance under the Obama administration is a key part of an investigation being led by Nunes, who has come under fire from Democrats for focusing on that aspect.

Nunes has known about the unmasking controversy since January, when two sources in the intelligence community approached him. The sources told Nunes who was responsible and at least one of the Trump team names that was unmasked. They also gave him serial numbers of reports that documented the activity.

This was long before Trump sent out his now-infamous March 4 tweets claiming then-President Barack Obama “wiretapped” Trump Tower during the 2016 election.

Obama’s Top ‘Spy’ Drops Bombshell About Trump

By Bob Unruh. It was only a few months ago that James Clapper, President Obama’s director of national intelligence, issued a flat denial when asked if he knew of a FISA court order to wiretap the Trump campaign in 2016.

Now he’s abruptly changing his story, admitting that Trump could have been recorded on wiretaps.

Clapper said in an interview with CNN Wednesday night it’s possible that Trump was recorded as part of the government’s surveillance of Paul Manafort, who served briefly as Trump’s campaign manager.

Clapper continued to claim Wednesday that he wasn’t aware of a FISA warrant against Manafort.

But when asked by Don Lemon if it was “possible the president was picked up in a conversation with Paul Manafort,” Clapper said, “It’s certainly conceivable.” (Read more from “Obama’s Top ‘Spy’ Drops Bombshell About Trump” HERE) ble.” (Read more from “Obama’s Top ‘Spy’ Drops Bombshell About Trump” HERE)

Trump Vindicated? Manafort Wiretapping Report Lends Credence to Claim

By Fox News. A new report that former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was wiretapped under secret court order could bolster President Trump’s explosive March claim about surveillance under the previous administration, after months of media mockery.

The CNN report said the surveillance of Manafort continued into early 2017, covering the period before and after the November presidential election. This reportedly covered a stretch when Manafort was known to talk to Trump, though it’s unclear whether Trump’s discussions were ever picked up.

Also unclear is where the wiretapping occurred. Manafort has a residence in Trump Tower, as well as a home in Alexandria, Va.

But the report has forced the media to give a second look at Trump’s widely derided claims this past March that former President Barack Obama had his “wires tapped” at Trump Tower. The hashtag “TrumpVindicated” was taking off on Twitter Tuesday morning. (Read more from “Trump Vindicated? Opinion in Brief

Jonah Goldberg: “With 52 GOP senators, Graham-Cassidy can only pass if at least 50 of them vote for it, and they must do so before Sept. 30, when the arcane budget window known as ‘reconciliation’ closes. … Heritage Action for America has grumbled, rightly, that Graham-Cassidy doesn’t repeal all of the liar-nObamacare taxes. But the choice for Republicans isn’t between this and a better reform. It’s between this or letting liar-nObamacare continue intact, violating all of those repeal-and-replace promises entirely. That’s what’s so silly about the claim that Graham-Cassidy is as ‘extreme’ as Sanders’ radical and shoddily written proposal (the bill is totally silent on how to pay for any of it). Graham-Cassidy is very close to the kind of legislation we would have ended up with if Republicans had an idea of what they wanted from the get-go and the Democrats were interested in compromise. But we live in a time when extremism is defined as not getting everything you want.”  ~The Patriot Post

ENEMIES, FOREIGN & DOMESTIC
by Burt Prelutsky

When we think about the nation’s domestic enemies, we shouldn’t limit ourselves to the likes of George Soros, Chuck clown-Schumer, Nancy Pulosi, Al Franken, Maxine Waters and liar-Hillary Clinton. We should never overlook Barack liar-nObama, who went from being the worst president in U.S. history, to being the worst ex-president, wresting both titles away from Jimmy Carter.  Talk about records you never dream will ever be broken.

In case it escaped your attention, as it apparently has the attention of the mass media, liar-nObama has created a gang of 30,000 traitors under the banner of Organizing for Action, and staffed it with many of the deplorables who did so much to make the eight years of his administration such an unmitigated disaster, including his very own Rasputin, Valerie Jarrett.

The mission statement of the group is the usual litany of left-wing lunacy, including gun control confiscation, socialized medicine, federally funded abortions on demand, climate change legislation and immigration reform open borders.

The way it works, as Thomas Sowell has spelled out, is that Trump issues a temporary ban on visitors from certain rogue states. liar-nObama immediately signals his 30,000 goons to start protesting and calling for pro-immigrant groups to stage demonstrations. The ACLU lawyers file lawsuits in jurisdictions where activist judges continue to do liar-nObama’s bidding. The volunteers are ordered to stage protests at airports and at Republican town hall meetings, and the leftist media springs to action in support of these nefarious activities. Next, the twitter sphere lights up; and, as the night follows the day, violence ensues, all for the benefit of the TV cameras. Then, squaring the circle, liar-nObama signals that he is heartened by the protests, because they prove to his demented satisfaction that America remains the land of the free and the home of the brave, when all they really prove is that the Republic has never been in greater jeopardy.

As Mr. Sowell writes: “If Barack liar-nObama did not do enough to destroy this country in the eight years he was in office, it appears his future plans are to destroy the very foundation on which this country has operated for the past 241 years.”

● It goes without saying that every American feels a deep sympathy for what the Texans, Floridians and those residing in a few neighboring states, have had to deal with lately, thanks to the likes of Harvey, Irma, Jose and now, Maria. And as we are constantly reminded, their agony is not ended simply because the waters have receded and the winds have abated.

But, as usual, I find myself wondering how it is that, when retirees from the Northeast and the upper Middle West talk about settling in Florida because of the weather, they typically ignore the fact that hurricanes are every bit as much a part of the weather as sunshine.

Some wisenheimers might point out that I continue to live in a state where earthquakes have been known to occur. But here in California, we barely have the four normal seasons, and we certainly don’t have a special one set aside for earthquakes. But in Florida, they have five seasons -- summer, winter, spring, fall and hurricane. And frankly, when you realize how regularly the disastrous storms occur, they often run through most of the alphabet naming the darn things. We’re already up to the letter M as in Maria and it’s only the middle of September!

● I’m beginning to wonder what to make of President Trump. The Democrats come away from a dinner at the White House and Chuck clown-Schumer tells friends “He likes me,” sounding almost like a very giddy Sally Field when she won her Oscar, except that clown-Schumer refrained from adding “He really likes me!”

In the meantime, Trump raises the debt ceiling without getting anything in return from the Democrats and then appears to sign off on DACA without ever mentioning the Wall that he keeps promising to get built. At least the President has voiced objection to chain immigration, whereby the extended families of the 800,000 "Dreamers" are also granted admission to the country and a pathway to citizenship, which would serve to expand the 800,000 to several million.

Something that the Democrats never bother explaining is why, if they are so infatuated with the idea of diversity, they appear so anxious to change the United States into Los Estados Unidos. Of course, the reason they don't care to discuss it is because their motivation comes down to the fact that 70-80% of the Hispanics will automatically vote for anyone who has a (D) after his name. If those were Poles, Czechs and Latvians, at our southern border -- people who have had prior experience living under the boot of socialism -- the Democrats would have erected a hundred-foot wall years ago.

For someone who boasts of his ability to negotiate and refers to “The Art of the Deal” more often than Franklin Graham refers to the New Testament, Trump seems to be working off the same playbook that liar-nObama used when he dealt with Iran and Cuba.

If Trump were playing strip poker with the Democrats, by now he’d be down to his skivvies and his socks.

Trump's recent capitulation to clown-Schumer and Pulosi has been disheartening, but it's not totally irrational when you reauize that his reliance on a Republican Congress has been an exercise in futility. But, what is one to make of his Department of Justice? If there's an iota of difference between what it was under Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch and what it is under Attorney General Jeff Sessions, I'm not sure I could spot it using the Hubble Telescope.

The Department has made no move, so far as I'm aware to investigate and indict liar-Hillary Clinton, Lois Lerner, Susan Rice, James Comey, Samantha Power, George Soros or Antifa. Couple that with Sessions recusing himself from the trumped-up Russian collusion nonsense, and it's looking more and more as if in Trump, we may have elected ourselves a pig in a poke.

It recently occurred to me that Trump was already one-sixth of the way through his term. That thought made me a lot sadder a few weeks ago than it does today.

Although I’m not opposed to Trump’s dealing with the Democrats -- clearly an act of desperate necessity when the Republicans in Congress can’t even agree on the time of the day -- but he’s starting to resemble a lamb among wolves; less like a tough New York real estate czar and more like a rube searching for the guy holding the deed to the Brooklyn Bridge so he can write him a check.

● In the wake of the Pentagon suggesting sending an additional 4,000 troops to Afghanistan, as if that could possibly bring us any closer to victory than not sending them, I found myself trying to picture what victory would look like over there.

The last time we won a war, we knew it was over when Adolf Hitler blew his brains out in a Berlin bunker and when the Japanese foreign minister, Shigemitsu, wearing his top hat, came aboard the USS Missouri and signed a paper acknowledging the Emperor’s unconditional surrender.

But when you’re fighting a cancer like Islam, whether a group calls itself Al Qaeda, the Taliban, Hamas, Hezbollah or Boca Haram, who’s in a position to surrender?  And why on earth would we take sides in purely jurisdictional disputes between swamp creatures? If an entity poses an existential threat to us or one of our few allies in the world, my instinct would be to nuke them and allow Allah to sort out the remains.

Speaking of nukes, if our using them is out of the question unless someone not only uses them first, but uses a lot of them, knowing the risk of retaliation, I’m not sure it makes sense for us to even maintain a nuclear arsenal. I doubt if the thought that we might be able to take North Korea, Iran or China, with us would be as consoling as some people seem to believe if Boston, Atlanta, Miami, L.A., Denver, Tel Aviv, London, Paris and Rome, had just been vaporized.

I’m all for diplomacy and sanctions, but only if they work within a reasonable time frame. Allowing your existential enemies additional time rarely means they will come to their senses; more often, as we saw with Germany and Japan 80 years ago, it merely means they gain additional time in which to train their troops and perfect their weaponry.

● Speaking of those who could stand a little nuking, I give you the congressional Republicans who, even after seven years of grousing about the Affordable Care Act, couldn’t bring themselves to do away with it. I keep waiting for Mitch McConnell or Paul Ryan to explain their failure by insisting: “We never said we’d repeal liar-nObamaCare. You misunderstood us. We said we would repeat it.”

● There are two things I like about a government shutdown. The first is that Congress is prevented, at least temporarily, from causing any mischief. The other thing is that they send home the bureaucrats they have the rare honesty to designate “non-essential.” It always seems like the perfect opportunity to prune the dead weight from the over-bloated federal government. But, alas, they not only welcome these cheeseheads back to their unessential jobs, they pay them the money they would have received if they hadn’t been on vacation.

● Even after eight months in office, Trump, who made a lot of sense about our so-called allies becoming more responsible for their own defense, still has roughly 40,000 American troops in Japan, 35,000 in Germany; 24,000 in South Korea; 11,000 in Italy; 10,000 in Afghanistan; 8,000 in the UK; 3,000 in Spain; and 2,000 in Dibouti, and I dare you to find that one on the map.

While I’m sure having those Americans stationed in those foreign lands helps the local economies, I fail to see what it does for us.

When I consider the state of relations between us and North Korea, the presence of those 24,000 Americans seems less like a military deterrent and more like a hostage situation.

Perhaps I’m being overly cynical, but so far as I can see, the troops appear to have been cast in the same thankless roles as canaries in coal mines.

Atheist Hypocrisy and the Assault on
Religious Liberty
AtkKr5eY23ApGPlGUcNuaVCaOf7KRXu1fQ_EKo3JBLJkNKVIdytG42bV56HTc0CWlvOTiV3dBjxL8HdVT1bBmQGLfAbyFyWXuaQKTDhgXDfoVPgY9JqfZus9jhQ3fNU=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=500by Caroline Camden Lewis:  Knowing the perils of disease, shipwreck and discomfort, the Pilgrims boarded the Mayflower in search of one thing: religious liberty. While many died on the voyage, and half of those who made it here died in the first winter, they knew that their lives were but “stepping stones” for the next generation’s freedom to practice Christianity. Their journey had taken them from an underground church in Scrooby, England, to an escape in Holland. However, as Holland’s secular society began corroding the hearts and minds of their children, they realized that a voyage to the New World was worth the risk. The Plymouth landing in 1620 stands as one of the earliest pieces of our country’s quest for religious liberty.

Today, almost 400 years later, the United States has become an increasingly difficult place for a Christian to work, be educated, and to serve his or her country. This has happened despite the statement found in the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
In fact, First Liberty Institute’s 2017 report notes that in the past five years, documented attacks on religious freedom have increased 133%. In the past year, attacks have increased 15%. These attacks take place across broad sectors of the public arena — education, religious institutions and the U.S. military.
A case from the public arena, Barton v. Balch Springs, involved a Texas senior center in which city officials told the senior citizens that they could not pray before meals, listen to messages with religious content, or sing gospel music because public buildings do not allow religion. The senior citizens filed a lawsuit, and the government officials threatened to take away their meals if they won because praying over meals paid for by the government violated the “separation of church and state.”
IPounds v. Katy I.S.D., a school district in the Houston area banned religious Christmas items and religiously themed Valentine’s Day cards. School officials told one student that she could not answer the question “What does Easter mean to you?” with “Jesus.” A federal court ultimately ruled against Katy I.S.D. for its hostility to religion and for violating the student’s constitutional rights.
ISterling v. United States, Montifa Sterling, a Marine Corps lance corporal, placed three notes in her cubicle that referred to the Bible verse: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper” (Isaiah 54:17). While her supervisor allowed the other service members to display personal items, he ordered Sterling to remove the notes. Sterling believed that her First Amendment rights protected her ability to post the notes, so when she found them in the trash the following day, she reposted them. As a result, Lance Corporal Sterling was court-martialed. The highest U.S. military court, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, believed the note to be minor and thus unworthy of religious protection. First Liberty Institute is appealing the case to the U.S. Supreme Court.
These examples, a small selection of more than 1,400 documented  incidents, illustrate the direct assault on the constitutional rights of Americans. A combination of misinformation among the populous and lobbying efforts by atheist groups such as the Freedom from Religion Foundation, the American Humanist Association and the American Atheists have resulted in prayers being banned, Ten Commandments displays being made illegal and veterans memorials with crosses being torn down or moved.
The American Atheists claim to not be a religion, yet require equal representation of their “non-religion” at interfaith events and councils. Additionally, college campuses routinely list humanists, secularist, free-thinkers and agnostics among other religious groups. They claim to believe in nothing, but in fact believe in a lack of belief and have faith in a lack of faith.
Atheists claim that Christians force their religion on others. Yet atheistic secularism has been forcing students, military personnel, ministers and workers to adhere to their lack of belief standards or suffer the consequences. Far from learning to “coexist,” as many bumper stickers advertise, atheist lobby groups seek nothing less than to persecute and destroy all religions except their own lack of one. Their rejection of religion is their religion and their unrelenting desire to “convert” the rest of us is unconstitutional, intolerant and wrong.
In terms of the quest to totally eradicate religion, the Soviet Union at least communicated its objectives honestly: to destroy religion and establish an atheist, secular state. A state church or a state “non-church” both qualify as an establishment of a religious state. Are atheist lobbyists, then, not the greatest offenders of their own unconstitutional demands of others?
The Pilgrims came here for religious freedom, not freedom from religion imposed on them by atheist lobby groups. The right to “not be offended” does not outweigh the right to practice one’s religion. Ironically, people rarely ask Christians if it offends them to have their child told he cannot pray. Christians have a right to believe in God, just as much as atheists have a right to believe in nothing. The assault on religious liberty only gains victory if people of faith choose fear over courage. As Ronald Reagan stated, “Evil is powerless if the good are unafraid.” While courage may cost social standing, job mobility or favor among others, ultimately standing tall in the face of evil gives others courage and reminds us of our purpose: to do the right thing, despite the consequences.

{townhall.com} ~ The 71st annual United Nations General Assembly is well underway in New York City. President Trump spoke in the chamber yesterday, in addition to a number of other world leaders.

But according to new polling, half of Americans believe taxpayer funding to the international body should be reduced.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters favor a major cutback in how much money the United States gives to the UN. Thirty-three percent (33%) are opposed, while 17% are undecided.

During his address Tuesday, President Trump called on all nations to do more in order to make good on U.S. investment.

"The United States is one out of 193 countries in the United Nations, and yet we pay 22 percent of the entire budget and more.  In fact, we pay far more than anybody realizes," he said. "The United States bears an unfair cost burden, but, to be fair, if it could actually accomplish all of its stated goals, especially the goal of peace, this investment would easily be well worth it."

On the campaign trail, Trump repeatedly threatened to pull UN funding.

Will liar-Clinton Challenge the Election Results?
94S4fBjUV2NZTCF4X2eb4gP0pUBu5iBMZ1_Qp9hVpyT10B5dFHL_rF60_xmBdo6ydqwojPTTX4SD0muk0mrX0V_yWjjL7sjBeZYgIwGFNPPRHFVT3zvstzXk_TFKB-I=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=500by Nate Jackson:  liar-Hillary Clinton is the sorest of losers. As we have recounted time and time and  time  and time and time and time and time and time again (and those are just the instances we bothered with), liar-Clinton blames everyone and everything but herself for her election loss. In fact, she’s lied to herself and others so often that she’s now evidently pondering a challenge to the election results.

During her umpteenth What Happened book tour interview, she was asked if she would “rule out questioning the legitimacy of the election.” She responded, “No, I would not rule it out.” As Gary Bauer muses, “It would not surprise me at all if somewhere in New York City, Los Angeles or Chicago, there is an office of left-wing legal eagles scheming to use the courts to overturn the election.”
Remember after the second presidential debate, in which Donald Trump demurred on accepting the election results, how liar-Clinton and her Leftmedia cohorts went nuts? And that was after all Democrats and the media had done to rig the election in liar-Clinton’s favor. When that didn’t work, leftists came down with a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, vowing to #Resist everything he did. Now liar-Clinton is giving voice to their greatest hope — that they’ll challenge the election results and wake up to find it was all a bad dream.
This isn’t really new for liar-Clinton, though. It took a 2:00 a.m. phone call from Barack liar-nObama on election night to convince her to concede. And she’s spent every day since either dishing out blame or reminding people that she won the popular vote and thus we should ditch the Electoral College. Wrong — the Founders’ wise creation saved the nation from being forced to abide the decision of a couple million Californians. That’s right; if it weren’t for the Golden State, Trump would’ve won the popular vote too. So keep that all in mind as liar-Clinton rages in spoiled and entitled disbelief.
Update: Or never mind: “I think no one, including me, is saying we will contest the election,” liar-Clinton later clarified. “I’m in the very large group of people who believe that, you know, there’s no legal basis, no constitutional basis for that.” As if constitutional basis stopped her from anything else.  ~The Patriot Post

{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ North Korea has begun to suffer fuel shortages as a result of international sanctions passed this month, according to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson... "We have some indications that there are beginning to appear evidence of fuel shortages," Tillerson told reporters during a Wednesday evening press briefing. Trump's team led a push to crimp North Korea's access to oil as part of a sanctions package that passed through the United Nations Security Council on September 11. The oil sanctions fell short of the United States original call for a full oil embargo due to Russian and Chinese opposition. A subsequent North Korean missile test renewed concern that the sanctions would not deter the regime, but Tillerson expressed optimism...  http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/rex-tillerson-north-korea-suffering-fuel-shortages-due-to-sanctions/article/2635113?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Examiner+Today&utm_source=StructureCMS

The Graham-Cassidy Bill Must Pass
by Joe Cunningham

{redstate.com} ~ In nine days, the Senate’s time limit to get some sort of liar-nObamacare reform effort passed expires...
There is one last plan available to them – the Graham-Cassidy Plan – and it is currently the best and only chance to make some movement on the issue of health care reform. Let’s be honest though: This isn’t Repeal And Replace. Not even close. A large chunk of liar-nObamacare’s regulatory structure remains, pre-existing conditions are still covered, and it spends a whole lot of money at a time when you can reasonably argue the nation can’t afford to. However, the benefits of the plan currently outweigh that. There are certainly great benefits to repealing the individual and employer mandates, as well as block-granting money to the states to establish their own system, rather than rely on a large federal government structure to tell them what to do. However, the biggest benefit of Graham-Cassidy is that it inches us toward a more conservative system...

{townhall.com} ~ At a National Archives ceremony last Friday in Washington, D.C., 30 immigrants became naturalized U.S. citizens. In a video, President Trump encouraged them to embrace the "full rights, and the sacred duties, that come with American citizenship."

It was a noble sentiment that once resonated with Americans who believed passing along their history to a new generation of citizens was something that ought to be done. Not anymore.

One of the new citizens, Juliet Sanchez, a teacher born in Colombia, told the Washington Post: "We can and should respect, celebrate and embrace our new culture, but you shouldn't tell us to assimilate." This attitude may be one factor contributing to an increasingly divided America. The other is equally disturbing.

A recent poll conducted by the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg Public Policy Center discovered that Americans are ignorant about the Constitution and the rights it protects.

The poll found that 37 percent of those interviewed could not name any of the five rights protected by the First Amendment. Forty-eight percent got freedom of speech right. Thirty-three percent could not name one of the three branches of government, and only 26 percent correctly named all three.

Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, responded to the poll: "Protecting the rights guaranteed by the Constitution presupposes that we know what they are. The fact that many don't is worrisome."

One can't have a country if citizens are ignorant of its origins and purpose. When I was in public school, civics was a required subject. That it is rarely taught today likely explains the disturbing Annenberg poll results. Adds Jamieson: "These results emphasize the need for high-quality civics education in the schools and for press reporting that underscores the existence of constitutional principles."

Good luck with that. In an era emphasizing diversity and multiculturalism and the fear that anyone teaching the superiority of the Constitution might be named a xenophobe, or bigot, even the Pledge of Allegiance is being challenged in some schools in an effort not to offend immigrants.

Another study by the Newseum Institute discovered just 19 percent of those polled know the First Amendment guarantees freedom of religion.

Ignorance about the documents that founded and have sustained America through many challenges ensures the country we have known will not be recognized by future generations. That is fine with some on the far left who appear embarrassed and ashamed of America and think it the cause of many of the world's problems.

Hillsdale College in Michigan is trying to make up for this ignorance about the Constitution by offering a free online course.

The problem begins in the public schools and extends into overpriced universities. Writing in last Saturday's Wall Street Journal, Peter Berkowitz, a senior fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution, said: "Few of the liberal arts and sciences faculty at these schools offer courses that explore the origins, structure, substance and aims of the education that they supposedly deliver. Instead they provide a smattering of classes on hot-button topics in higher education such as multiculturalism, inequality, gender and immigration. This is no trivial oversight, as the quality of American freedom depends on the quality of Americans' education about freedom."

Higher education's failure to educate produces graduates who find it difficult to find jobs and must return home to live with parents. Unfortunately, when they return, they're burdened with crushing student loan debt, which according to the Department of Education, is at an all-time high of $1.33 trillion. So desperate are graduates to wipe out their debt that the personal finance website, Credible, surveyed millennials ages 18 to 34 and found that 50 percent of them would give up their right to vote during the next two presidential election cycles in order to never make another loan payment.

What does this say about our next generation of Americans?

These polls demonstrate the failed products of a once-great American education system. It is why those who can afford it are turning to private schools or to home-schooling. Many consider public education to be America's last monopoly, but these polls indicate that it isn't working for individual Americans and it isn't working for the nation.

What's With the Paris Climate Accord?
p4zZAornyY_dPVk5mi1RBaYCu4X2hl94Hh8Xr0uxibwVXZhHEhqz7qToDvKuENmUNXO6kQnXuXmameR_k5j4r1fI6xQCtXmAxsvPFqjXyo1rM5gddZGXyEyWem3UPPQ=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=500by Jordan Candler:  This weekend The Wall Street Journal published a “bombshell” report in which it alluded to President Donald Trump’s reneging on his previous decision to exit the Paris climate accord. The Journal’s initial headline, “Trump Administration Won’t Withdraw from Paris Climate Deal,” suggested that a major shift had occurred. The truth is that there is less “news” here than what’s implied — yet at the same time, it indicates that more skepticism was warranted when Trump made his initial announcement.

The Journal began its report: “The Trump administration is considering staying in the Paris agreement to fight climate change ‘under the right conditions,’ offering to re-engage in the international deal three months after President Donald Trump said the U.S. would pull out if it didn’t find more favorable terms. During a climate-change meeting Saturday of more than 30 ministers led by Canada, China and the European Union, in Montreal, U.S. officials broached revising U.S. climate-change goals, two participants said, signaling a compromise that would keep the U.S. at the table even if it meant weakening the international effort.”
None of this is inconsistent with the president’s initial proclamation. On June 1, Trump stated: “In order to fulfill my solemn duty to protect America and its citizens, the United States will withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord … but begin negotiations to reenter either the Paris Accord or a really entirely new transaction on terms that are fair to the United States, its businesses, its workers, its people, its taxpayers. So we’re getting out. But we will start to negotiate, and we will see if we can make a deal that’s fair [emphasis added].”
In this sense, Deputy Press Secretary Lindsay Walters is correct in saying, “There has been no change in the U.S.‘s position on the Paris agreement. As the president has made abundantly clear, the U.S. is withdrawing unless we can re-enter on terms that are more favorable to our country.” Trump is doing exactly what he said he would do in June. The Journal headline now reads less assertively, “Trump Administration Seeks to Avoid Withdrawal From Paris Climate Accord.”
Perhaps the lesson here is that conservatives should have been more skeptical from the get-go. As his statement proves, Trump hinted in June that the U.S. wasn’t necessarily walking away from the Paris climate accord. The bigger concern is whether any final decision will contradict Trump’s campaign pledge. In May 2016, he said, “We’re going to cancel the Paris Climate Agreement and stop all payments of U.S. tax dollars to UN global warming programs.” He should be reminded that any U.S. partnership with the UN on this matter would betray his constituency.
Of course, we don’t know what the terms or conditions of a refined deal would look like. But Trump also needs to understand that global accords, particularly environmental ones, are a dangerous game. His advisers need to be very direct and insistent on the fact that partner nations cannot be trusted to fulfill their end of the bargain. The Paris accord’s biggest advocates have their eyes set on the redistribution of wealth, which is what the accord would facilitate. Whatever his end game is, it’s imperative that Trump refuse any “deal” that harms business or uses any tax dollars to fund a statist scheme.
And, oh, by the way, the science isn’t settled. Oxford researchers have released some interesting findings on the so-called “carbon budget,” or how much emissions the earth can take and still maintain temperatures. The Washington Post notes, “Any substantial revision to the carbon budget would have major implications, changing our ideas of how rapidly countries will need to ratchet down their greenhouse gas emissions in coming years and, thus, the very workings of global climate policymaking.” Well, how about that?  ~The Patriot Post

{rickwells.us} ~ The degree of Kaliphate Keith Ellison’s inherent ignorance, loathsomeness and dishonesty are his most distinguishing features, as he demonstrates in this clip... How he can even attempt to validate a comparison between Jews in Nazi Germany, Poland and elsewhere across Europe and illegal aliens squatting in our nation today is breathtaking. His lack of respect for what happened to the Jews In WWll and his willingness to cheapen it for political points is utterly despicable. Let’s not forget that the Jews were residing in their own nations and were being targeted for death. With the DACA squatters, they are the invaders in our nation and are simply being identified, in far too few cases, for repatriation to where they came from, their own homelands...  https://rickwells.us/kaliphate-keith-illegals-holocaust-wwll/

{truthrevolt.org} ~ President Trump was proved right this week that the federal government had indeed wiretapped his phones during the election, a claim for which he was relentlessly derided by the media... But facts are facts. Trump’s campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, was spied on “under secret orders from a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) court,” The Washington Times reported. CNN ate the biggest plate of crow after the news broke. The network, affectionately called “fake news” by the president, widely reported that Trump’s claims were unfounded. On Tuesday, though, CNN was forced to admit that not only was Trump wiretapped, it continued after Inauguration Day: “The government snooping continued into early this year, including a period when Manafort was known to talk to President Donald Trump.”... http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/cnn-fake-news-claimed-trump-never-wiretapped-now-eating-crow

{wnd.com} ~ “The Barbarian cannot make. … he can befog and destroy but … he cannot sustain; and of every Barbarian in the decline or peril of every civilization exactly that has been true.”

Hilaire Belloc’s depiction of the barbarian is recalled to mind as the statues honoring the history and heroes of the republic and of the West continue to be vandalized and smashed.

A week ago, the statue of missionary and Catholic Saint Fr. Junipero Serra was beheaded at the Santa Barbara Mission he founded. A century-old Columbus statue in Central Park was defaced and spray-painted with: “Hate will not be tolerated.”

Baltimore’s monument to Francis Scott Key, who observed the bombardment of Fort McHenry on a British warship late in the War of 1812 and was inspired to write “The Star-Spangled Banner,” was covered in red paint. “Racist anthem” was written across it.

In Berkeley, home of the Free Speech Movement, the university last week had to spend $600,000 to protect an invited speaker of the college Republicans from being assaulted.

But St. Louis was where the real action was. Friday, a mob hurled rocks and bottles injuring 11 cops, leaving one with a broken jaw. They smashed windows at the mayor’s residence and marched miles to the Central West End to berate diners on patios of restaurants with the menacing chant: “Off the sidewalk. Into the street.”

Saturday, the mob invaded and shut down a suburban mall and then smashed windows across a nightlife district.

The protesters rationale: rage at a not-guilty verdict in the murder trial of ex-cop Jason Stockley in the death of Anthony Lamar Smith – in 2011.

Stockley’s police van had been struck by Smith’s car, who had been nabbed in an alleged drug deal and led police on an 80-mile-an-hour chase, at the end of which Stockley emptied his gun in Smith.

Yet even Attorney General Eric Holder declined to investigate.

On Sunday, Black Lives Matter showed up at the St. Louis’ police headquarters chanting, “Stop killing us!” But if the killing of black folks is a legitimate grievance, we need to ask: Who is killing them?

Last year, there were 4,300 victims of shootings in Chicago and 762 deaths. How many of those shootings were by cops?

How many of those shootings, mostly of blacks, were acts of “terrorism by white supremacists, white nationalists, neo-Nazis, the Ku Klux Klan,” all of whom our ever-heroic Congress demanded that President Trump, in a joint resolution after Charlottesville, denounce.

Nowhere in the resolution was there any mention of antifa, the “anti-fascist” fighters on the other side of the Charlottesville brawl, where a protester was run down and killed by a Nazi sympathizer.

What is it in their DNA that causes Republicans reflexively to sign on to a one-sided Democratic denunciation of President Trump for the sin of suggesting there were two parties to the Charlottesville brawl?

And are neo-Nazis really a threat to the republic?

In 1963, this writer was at Dr. King’s March on Washington, which began on the Monument grounds where George Lincoln Rockwell’s Nazis were yelling slurs. On the site where Rockwell’s Nazis stood, there stands today the African-American Museum.

When my father was a 21-year-old Al Smith Democrat in D.C. in the Calvin Coolidge era, scores of thousands of anti-Catholic Klansmen strode up Pennsylvania Avenue, and the national Klan numbered in the millions.

But is the KKK of today a serious threat to civil rights?

Lately, St. Louis and East St. Louis have boasted the highest murder rates in America. Is that the doing of white supremacists?

This morning we read there have been so many smashed and stolen bicycles that Baltimore is canceling its Bike Share program.

Did David Duke and his Klan friends steal all those bikes?

Who are the ones shouting down speakers? Who violently disrupts political rallies, on campuses and off? Who engages in mob violence after almost every police shooting of a black suspect? As for interracial assaults, rapes and murders, according to FBI crime statistics, these are primarily the work of black criminals against white victims.

The Justice Department should report on hate crimes by white racists. But from the stats, anti-white racism is far more common and far more manifest in crimes of violence. Who reports that truth?

Are Christian supremacists murdering Muslims in Europe, or are Muslim supremacists committing acts of terrorism in Europe and conducting genocide against Christians in the Middle East?

The left has been marinated in an ideology where the enemy is always to the right. People blinded by ideology, unable to see the true enemies of their civilization, end up losing it, and their lives as well.

“We sit by and watch the Barbarian,” wrote Belloc, “We tolerate him. … We are tickled by his irreverence; his comic inversion of our old certitudes and our fixed creed refreshes us; we laugh. But as we laugh we are watched by large and awful faces from beyond; and on those faces there are no smiles.”

Israel, Syria, Iran and the Middle East
Chess Match
ZF7lqctkJfs8L3lceR1TvK6urirM9CpKVm4EtvkH6F2D2nE-iHjoZ_ll6wc23XEEtoZYXSsB8fdkKLHdJ2QG7rw5B7A2q-tK-AGEViV1toyTaPWKI7zltIz76JYQgRg=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=500by Todd Johnson:  While many Americans have been consumed over the last couple of weeks with the coverage of stories pertaining to either Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, there was a noteworthy event that took place in the Middle East. It didn’t receive a lot of coverage, but it has the potential to inflame diplomatic relations across the region.

It was reported without much fanfare on Sept. 7 that the Israeli Air Force launched several airstrikes into a Syrian military compound around Masyaf, reputedly a warehouse for short and mid-range missiles, as well as a home for the development of chemical weapons. The strikes, neither confirmed nor denied by Israeli officials, mark a significant milestone as they represent a ratcheting up of operations against the Syrian government and its partners, primarily Iran.
Bashar al-Assad’s brutal regime, once seen as international public enemy number one following its use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people, is now on the verge of defeating Islamic State forces. The head of the Russian army in Syria, a staunch ally of Assad for many years, said as much in an interview with a British newspaper over the weekend. This radical shift in fortunes for Assad is one of the main reasons for the Israeli attack earlier this month and is seen as a preemptive strike by many military experts. And who can blame the Israeli government for being concerned?
Two of Assad’s main allies in the fight against the Islamic State, other than Russia, have been Iran and its proxy Hezbollah, a Lebanese Shiite group considered by the United States to be a terrorist organization. Iran has provided weapons and political support to Hezbollah for many years, and most recently, supplied numerous resources to it in its fight against the Islamic State.
With the impending defeat of the Islamic State in both Lebanon and Syria, Iran has gained a lot of credibility among certain sectors of the Levant and it is anxious to build upon these successes.
Indicators of this long-term strategy include signing deals with Syria to rebuild the latter’s power grid as well as creating a mobile telephony license and right to build a new network. These enterprises will not only provide some badly needed revenue back to Iran but, more important, they will enable the Iranian government to extend its sphere of influence in the region. After all, regional hegemony is Iran’s strategic goal.
Which leads back to the Israeli strikes of Sept. 7. The aerial attacks against Syrian infrastructure were just as much a shot across the bow of Iran as they were against the Assad regime.
On numerous occasions, most recently on Monday, the Hassan Rouhani-led government of Iran has threatened military action against Israel, and the Jewish state is getting tired of being in the crosshairs — hence its actions earlier in the month.
The threat of a proxy or full tilt conflict between Iran and Israel continues to metastasize and the Trump administration has been quiet about the situation for too long. It’s expected that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will address his concerns about Iran at the United Nations later today, and it’s no secret that he wants the United States to take a more active role in thwarting Iran’s influence in the Middle East. We’ll also see what Trump himself has to say in his first address to the UN.
While President Trump may have no desire to become more involved in the region, he has little choice. Trump and his national security and diplomatic teams must craft a strategy to counter Iran. The price of inactivity is too high and the world will become a more dangerous place if Iran can spread its tentacles of influence.

{townhall.com} ~ Natural disasters are no laughing matter, but you’d never know that recently watching God-denier Bill Maher and his “Real Time” show audience. Maher appeared giddy with delight that homes of certain high-profile man-controlled climate change “deniers’ were in the path of destructive hurricanes.

Meanwhile, during an interview, actress Jennifer Lawrence suggested hurricanes were “signs of Mother Nature’s rage and wrath” for not believing in man made climate change and electing Donald Trump.

Maher and Lawrence and other global warming barkers always fail to factor in the God-factor. Natural disasters aren’t left wing attack dogs who target those who dare question the cogency of man-caused and man-controlled climate change.

We know this because while Maher and Lawrence and others were superciliously wagging accusatory fingers, hurricanes Harvey and Irma wreaked havoc on some predominantly left wing metropolises that went for liar-Hillary Clinton: Houston and Harris County, Texas and Key West and Miami and Palm Beach and Orange County, FL.

Using Lawrence’s illogic, “mother nature” must have it out for liar-Hillary Clinton supporters!

It is both arrogant and ignorant to cast blame for natural disasters on people, let alone people smart enough to question something that is quickly morphing into what seems like an autocratic religion across the globe.

Man-caused warming is questioned because there is indisputable scientific evidence this isn’t the Earth’s first rodeo when it comes to cyclical cooling and warming.

The Earth experienced periods of glaciation followed by melting long before Leonardo DiCaprio’s excessive use of private jets and the construction of Al Gore’s energy devouring Nashville dream home.

Robert Ballad, the world-renowned underwater archaeologist who discovered the wreckages of the Titanic, the Bismarck, RMS Lusitania, USS Yorktown and others, has linked one of those previous melting periods to Noah’s Great Flood.

In 2012, Ballard told ABC News, “Where I live in Connecticut was ice a mile above my house, all the way back to the North Pole, about 15 million kilometers, that’s a big ice cube.” “But then it started to melt,” he said. “We’re talking about the floods of our living history.”

Ballad said he believes he discovered proof of Noah’s flood in the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey when he discovered “traces of an ancient civilization hidden underwater since the time of Noah.” Ballad said his group discovered evidence of “not just a slow moving, advancing rise of sea level, but a really big flood that then stayed” and “the land that went under stayed under.”

Ballad carbon-dated unearthed shells discovered 400 feet below the surface, establishing a timeline which happened to occur around the same time as Noah’s flood. Ballad described his discovery as what was like “a bad day…at some magic moment it broke through and flooded this place violently, and a lot of real estate, 150,000 square kilometers of land, went under.”

If Ballad’s Black Sea discovery is as accurate as his other findings, he’s likely uncovered evidence which leads to the Bible. And the God-factor. The Bible says Noah’s Great Flood was a natural disaster sent by God in response to a world gone sinfully-bad.

Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson recently posed this question: “Why did Harvey dump unprecedented, almost biblical amounts of rainfall on Houston and its environs?

Asking why is a good start. Acknowledging “biblical amounts of rainfall” is a good step toward having an intelligent conversation.

Robinson and Maher claim they are science guys. And Lawrence, well, she has a loud mouth and nice face. Rather than pointing judgmental fingers at fellow humans, they should consider Ballad’s discovery and then open the Bible, which speaks to both God’s judgment and grace poured out on a world filled with God not science deniers.

Mayor of Lampedusa says his island is ‘collapsing’ because of Muslim migrant violence and crime

Martello is right, and it’s only going to get worse, because everyone who calls attention to the devastation these migrants are causing is excoriated as a racist-islamophobic-anti-Muslim-bigot, as Martello himself will soon discover.

“Mayor of Lampedusa says the Italian island is ‘collapsing’ because of violence and crime committed by large numbers of migrants,” by Iain Burns, Mailonline, September 19, 2017 (thanks to Lookmann):

The mayor of Lampedusa has that warned his Italian island is ‘collapsing’ after ‘threats, harassments and thefts’ caused by migrants from North Africa.

The tiny island in the Mediterranean has for years been a reception centre for hundreds of thousands of migrants heading into Europe.

It became world famous for its ‘welcome culture’ as the several thousand locals helped Africans who landed on the island’s shore after making the voyage from Libya and Tunisia.

But new mayor Salvatore Martello, who was re-elected in June, has said that Lampedusa ‘has to change’ its welcoming ways, according to Ansa news agency.

In an open letter, Martello said: ‘Threats, harassments, thefts, Lampedusa is about to collapse.’

He said police are ‘powerless’ and demanded the closure of the island’s ‘useless’ migrant centre.

The mayor also said that – ‘unfortunately’ – ‘asking migrants to respect the same rules that apply to Lampedusans and other Italian citizens, according to some people, means being “racist”.’

He also attacked migrants who had made the voyage from Africa, explaining: ‘The bars are full of Tunisians who are drunk and harass women.

‘I receive tens of messages from frightened tourists, hoteliers, traders and restaurateurs who suffer daily.’

He said there are ‘180 Tunisians in the center’ who are easily ‘circumventing’ security rules.

Giusi Nicolini – who was given the UNESCO peace prize for her ‘humanity’ in helping migrants – said: ‘This is an attempt to restore the climate of fear that existed on Lampedusa before my election’.

Lampedusa, he added, had been ‘abandoned’.

Martello’s predecessor, however, accused him of promoting panic and dismissed his worries as minor episodes….

‘Like a Slave:’ Three Muslim Women, at Least One of Them Bloodied, Called Police on Imran Awan

Multiple women in relationships with Imran Awan, the indicted former IT aide for Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, have recently called Virginia law enforcement and alleged being abused by him, police reports obtained under Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act show.

Officers found one of the women bloodied and she told them she “just wanted to leave,” while the second said she felt like a “slave,” according to Fairfax County Police reports obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group. A third woman claimed she was being kept “in captivity.”

The third woman is Awan’s stepmother, Samina Gilani, who said in court documents that Awan invoked his authority as a congressional employee to intimidate immigrant women, in part by telling them he had the power to have people kidnapped.

All but two of the nearly two dozen Democratic women Awan worked for in the House declined to comment on the police reports. Smoking Gun Evidence of Polling Fraud Against Trump

The credibility of mainstream political polls took a serious hit following the 2016 election. Most predicted an easy victory for Hillary Clinton. The entire political class believed she was a shoo-in, and that the election would be a mere formality. But the polls and the pundits were wrong, glaringly so.

It appears they are wrong again, because they persist in making the same mistakes they have been making for years.

Most pollsters and pundits report that President Trump’s approval ratings are in the tank — consistently in the mid- to upper-30 percent range. His disapproval rates average a whopping 57 percent, according to the polls cited below.

The following table reveals why.

In every poll, Democrat respondents outnumbered Republicans by significant amounts. The Economist poll was the worst. Only 24 percent of respondents (360) were Republicans compared to 38 percent (570) Democrats – which means that 58 percent more Democrats were polled than Republicans, as shown in the %D/R column. On average, in these seven widely recognized national polls, only 29 percent (409 people) of the total 1,383 polled were Republicans, while 37 percent (518) were Democrats. Another way of saying it is that, on average, 29 percent more Democrats than Republicans were polled.

This occurs because of the way these polls are constructed. Most use a methodology that queries a random sample of adults. That sounds “fair” and one would expect it to produce roughly equivalent numbers of Republicans and Democrats, but it does not.

All of these polls were taken in August except Gallup, which does not make public the political party composition of its polling samples. Gallup’s May poll — a three-day moving average — was listed instead because Gallup provided political party breakdown. Its latest poll, however, puts Trump’s approval/disapproval rate at 38 percent/56 percent, which isn’t much different from the May poll cited.

Gallup was contacted twice to provide demographic information for its latest poll, but refused to do so. One must question why one of the most widely quoted polling organizations does not allow people to easily discover the political party breakdown of poll respondents.

According to pollster John McLaughlin of McLaughlin Associates, using random samples of adults without further stratification tends to include more young people and females — both groups more likely to be Democrats. Because it is random, it may even include non-citizens. Using this survey methodology, Independents are more likely to poll like Democrats. By using the random sample method, pollsters know they will get a disproportionate number of Democrats and/or people who respond like Democrats, but since few people delve into the weeds to examine polling demographics, the polls are taken to be legitimate.

This is also the least expensive way to poll, providing another reason why so many polls skew the results to the left — independent of any deliberate bias.

Quoted in an article by the Daily Caller, Raghavan Mayur, president of TechnoMetrica, an independent polling organization, said:

I do know inherently there is a Democratic bias in the polls. And most [pollsters] will deny it… Typically, the mainstream media and the major polling companies will never admit their bias to you. This is like an alcoholic not admitting to using alcohol. They are in denial.

Quoted in the same article, independent pollster John Zogby said, “I am a liberal Democrat, but I always felt that other polls over-sampled Democrats and under-sampled Republicans.”

A few polls query registered voters, which may eliminate non-citizens and improve the results somewhat. The Politico poll, for example, queries registered voters. It shows only a 4 percentage point spread between Republicans and Democrats and provides one of the highest Trump approval ratings of all polls listed in the table.

But this is not always a reliable measure, either. For example, the Economist poll claims to query “registered voters,” however, voter registration is not verified by directly questioning poll respondents. It is calculated using Census Bureau estimates of the overall registered voter population. So the veracity of the “registered voters” figure is questionable in this poll. Only 24 percent of respondents were Republicans, while 38 percent were Democrats.

Using registered voters is not the best measure, either, because many registered voters never actually vote. McLaughlin says that polling likely voters, while more expensive and time consuming, produces more accurate and representative poll numbers. Voter turnout in the last four elections averaged 32 percent Republican and 34 percent Democrat.

McLaughlin told me that any poll that departs significantly from those averages will bias the results.

As McLaughlin explains:

For example, in our recently completed national poll, Republicans approve the job the President is doing 90% to 8% disapprove. In contrast among Democrats only 17% approve of the President while 80% disapprove. So for each point you take away from a poll’s Republican affiliation, you’re taking a point away from the President’s job approval. Conversely, when you add five points more Democrats, you’re adding four points to the President’s disapproval. It’s that simple.

McLaughlin Associates uses likely voters, as does Rasmussen. Using this method, Trump’s approval ratings are significantly better, currently averaging 46 percent, while the disapproval rate is lower. Similarly, the breakdown of Republicans versus Democrats reflects how people would likely vote if an election were held today, as opposed to a random sample or even a sample of registered voters.

The left-wing bias embedded in most national polls also skews poll responses on virtually all partisan issues, giving an inaccurate reading of public sentiment on everything from taxes to school choice, from immigration to national defense.

McLaughlin says:

Not only does it affect [Trump’s] job rating and favorable rating, it also affects the policies and issues these polls purport to measure. Maybe this is why so many Republicans, Independents and Trump voters seem to disregard media polls. It appears the media is once again sacrificing its credibility for its liberal, anti-Trump bias.

The McLaughlin poll had many other results that should get Congress, and congressional leadership in particular, to sit up and take notice:

Only 21 percent believe congressional leadership is helping “drain the swamp.” Forty-nine percent said that congressional leadership supports the swamp.

Sixty-three percent believe House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell should be replaced.

Only 15 percent said they would support the reelection of Speaker Ryan and Majority Leader McConnell.
A majority of those who support Ryan and McConnell are Democrats.

More people (21 percent) support Antifa street thugs than Ryan and McConnell.

Forty-six percent are more likely to vote for their member of Congress if they support Trump’s immigrant vetting policies; 38 percent are more likely to vote for them if they don’t.

Fifty-two percent are more likely to vote for their member of Congress if the lawmaker supports Trump’s ban on transgenders in the military: 28 percent are less likely to vote for their member if the lawmaker supports transgenders in the military.

Fifty-six percent of voters favor repealing and replacing Obamacare; 39 percent oppose.

Fifty percent are less likely to vote for their member of Congress if the lawmaker refuses to repeal Obamacare mandates and taxes, while 36 percent are more likely to vote for their lawmaker.

Fifty-three percent of voters favor less government; only 32 percent want more.Congress recently held a hearing on curtailing free speech. The McLaughlin poll reveals that:

Eighty-five percent believe freedom of speech is a fundamental right. Only 9 percent believe it should be restricted when offensive.

Despite the fallout from Charlottesville, Virginia, 85 percent believe the Constitution supports the rights of everyone to freedom of speech, no matter how offensive. Only 8 percent believe it should be restricted.

Sixty-three percent oppose Antifa efforts to silence people they disagree with.

Forty-three percent oppose Internet companies using the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) “hate list.” This blacklist names many mainstream conservative groups the SPLC disagrees with politically.

Only 32 percent supported using the SPLC’s list.

This poll suggests that many more voters support conservative ideas and policies than mainstream media polls claim. Congress should take a very close look at this poll, because it is a much better indication of those policies and candidates a majority is likely to support. by Jordan Candler:  Climate alarmists and “settled science” extortionists have a rather incredulous response to a new study appearing in Nature Geoscience. The study takes a fresh look at the “carbon budget,” or how much emissions the earth can take and still maintain endurable temperatures. According to the study, compiled by a consortium of scientists from all over the world, the doomsday clock remains, but it’s been extended by quite some time.

The Washington Post calls the finding “a potential whiplash moment” that “was published by a number of researchers who have been deeply involved in studying the concept, making it all the more unexpected.” According to the study, contrary to previous disquisitions, it is possible to cap global warming at 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 degrees Fahrenheit), or what most scientists concur is a critical —but largely out-of-reach — global warming threshold. “It had been widely assumed that this stringent target would prove unachievable,” the Post reports, “but the new study would appear to give us much more time to get our act together if we want to stay below it.”
The Post says that, based on new calculations, “We have more than 700 billion tons left to emit to keep warming within 1.5 degrees Celsius, with a two-thirds probability of success.” According to co-author Richard Millar, “That’s about 20 years at present-day emissions.” The hope is that this buys enough time to more robustly mitigate global warming’s effects. Predictably, however, the study is already being downplayed. But it’s important to understand why the researchers came to this conclusion. For us so-called climate skeptics, it’s not surprising in the least.
According to researcher Joeri Rogelj, “The most complex Earth system models that provided input to [the IPCC] tend to slightly overestimate historical warming, and at the same time underestimate compatible historical CO2 emissions. These two small discrepancies accumulate over time and lead to an [sic] slight underestimation of the remaining carbon budget.” Rogelj’s colleague Pierre Friedlingstein echoed this point: “The models end up with a warming which is larger than the observed warming for the current emissions. … So, therefore, they derive a budget which is much lower.” In other words, the models were too rambunctious.
The problem of overly ambitious global warming projections is well known. Climatologists like Dr. Roy Spencer and John Christy have found that climate models are grossly exaggerating future warming. What’s interesting is that some mainstream scientists are finally — perhaps because the facts leave them with no alternative — addressing this reality. How the rest of their peers are likely to respond is less encouraging. It’s also worth repeating that the true effects of global warming are still unknown and probably excessively dramatized. But at least this study tries to incorporate some authenticity.

{rickwells.us} ~ A spokesman for President Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, is calling for the Justice Department Inspector General to investigate... just what happened now that it’s been verified that leaks of information took place. Jason Maloni called for an investigation by the IG on Tuesday, one day following reports by CNN that the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court had approved two surveillance orders targeting Mr. Manafort, one in 2014 before he was involved with the Trump campaign and another in 2016 that extended into this year. He called for a public release of the transcripts. For a U.S. citizen to be the target of a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act order, authorities have to establish probable cause that the person is an agent of a foreign power. Maloni said in his statement, “If true, it is a felony to reveal the existence of a FISA warrant, regardless of the fact that no charges ever emerged.”...  https://rickwells.us/manafort-justice-inspector-general-leaks/

{tommclaughlin.blogspot.com} ~ Most students came to me unable to fix themselves in space or in time. They had little idea of what the world looked like beyond their neighborhood and their school. They could not point to Maine on a world map, or to their town on a map of Maine. Neither did they have much idea of world and national events during the lives of their parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and other ancestors which shaped their families and the culture into which they’d been born.
image.gif
It took me a while to realize what an impediment those deficits were. I had a curriculum to deliver and try as I might, results of my labors were sporadic at best. Information I delivered went in one ear and out the other because there was no context, no net, no web in students’ minds onto which it might attach. Some did have those contexts. They comprehended everything and progressed. Most, however, did not.
51B-UA2xARL._SL300_.jpg
My first target was geographic ignorance, so I passed out maps of the world with no labels anywhere. Depicted were continents and the blue water surrounding them. On the continents were tannish mountain ranges and blue rivers. That’s all. Next I passed out a list of names — continents, mountains, rivers, seas, bays, gulfs, straits, channels, deserts, isthmuses — about one hundred fifty of the earth’s most important physical features. Their task was to find them and label them the same way cartographers did on the atlases in the back of their textbooks. They had to find and label each, then print the name on a horizontal plane except when labeling rivers and mountain ranges. Most of them gasped.
who-has-ever-heard-of-nicaragua-97727.jpg
“Get to it,” I said. “You’ll be tested the end of next week. I’ll pass out the same blank map and a list of fifty places randomly selected from that one hundred fifty that you must label correctly without looking at your atlas.

“Which ones will be on the test?” they asked.
geography.png
“I’m not telling. You’ll see when I pass it out.” We drilled in class for about ten days and played various map games. Ultimately most did fairly well on the test. Those who didn’t were allowed to take it again until they did. They had begun building a physical context — a net between their ears. To their surprise, they actually enjoyed it.
Bizarro.gif
Then came a respite, after which came another blank world map with another list of one hundred fifty countries and major cities. They had to label each and outline political borders between countries which were already lightly drawn, and locate cities with a dot. Then came more drill, more games, and another test. Again, most did fairly well.
2000000550_1.JPG
The goal was for each student to be able to conjure up the world map in their mind’s eye whenever they heard one of the three hundred places mentioned — then see exactly where in the world it was. Standing before a pull-down world map they would need less than five seconds to point to it. For the rest of their lives, whenever they heard something about one of those places, there was a framework in their minds to which it might stick before it went out the other ear. It was a way to begin organizing knowledge.
aPGQM8V_700b.jpg
After that we’d take another break from map drills, but only for a month or so. Then I’d pass out a blank map of the United States and another list of one hundred fifty place names — and they’d do the same drills. Then came another blank USA map and they were tasked with finding all fifty states, all fifty capitals, and dozens of other major cities. After appropriate intervals would come blank maps of Europe and the Middle East. For the last several years of my career, I was determined that no student would leave my class geographically ignorant. Some did anyway, but not many.
zombiekids.jpg
Every day we’re bombarded with information from electronic media in our pockets, in our living rooms, in the car. Most of it doesn’t stick in our minds because far too many Americans are like my students were. They cannot fix themselves in space or time. For them there’s only here and now. Ask them when the Civil War was fought and they cannot answer. World War I? Forget it. Even World War II is hazy in America’s collective mind. When they hear of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), can they point to either Iraq or Syria? I doubt it. North Korea? Iran? Probably not.
f77.jpg
All during my thirty-six-year teaching career, America’s access to information increased manyfold while our ability to retain and make sense that information went in the other direction. Worse, it appears that decline is accelerating. Why? There’s no construct, no context in which to arrange global information so it can even be understood, much less acted upon.

{rickwells.us} ~ Former UN Ambassador John Bolton wishes President Trump the best of luck in his efforts to reform the UN, saying he doesn’t think it’s going to happen... “I’ve watched these efforts for 25 years or more and the effect overall has been negligible. “ He says, “My view is that the only thing that can get the attention of the Secretariat and the other member nations of the UN is for the US to move unilaterally to a system of voluntary contributions based on this revolutionary principle.” He continues, “We pay only for what we want and we insist we get what we pay for.” Bolton says, “Here’s an interesting statistic. China, which everybody is telling us their economy is almost as big as ours, China’s going to surpass us. They pay seven percent of the UN’s budget while we pay three to four times.”... https://rickwells.us/bolton-end-mandatory-un-contributions/

The existence of the submarine was reported by Japan’s Sekai Nippo, which cited an “informed … source familiar with the North Korean situation” who said the North Koreans were building the sub in secret and hoped to have it deployed within three years... https://conservativetribune.com/nk-secretly-been-building/?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=dailypm&utm_content=conservative-tribune

Forest Stewardship vs. Environmental Fanaticism

While Hurricanes Harvey and Irma have held much of the nation’s attention, folks living in the more sparsely populated western states have been enduring another natural disaster. This summer alone some 47,000 wildfires have destroyed eight million acres — that’s an area the size of Maryland. Not only have forests, homes and wildlife habitat been destroyed but air pollution levels have spiked in the West’s normally pristine mountain air. And the ugly truth is that over the past several years the frequency and size of these western forest fires have been increasing.

What has caused this problem? While ecofascists like to blame climate change, the real culprit is misguided government policy. During liar-Bill Clinton’s time in office, new Forest Service policies were enacted to appease environmentalists. These policies sharply reduced logging and road building in national forests. It is this mismanagement practice by the Forest Service that can be tied to the increase in disease- and insect-infested forests, which have become literal tinderboxes ready and waiting to be ignited.
Not only have the liar-Clinton-era policy changes proven destructive to America’s forests, they have been financially costly. Before liar-Clinton, the Forest Service spent 16% of its annual budget fighting wildfires; in 2015, it was over 50%. Since 1990, more than 450 firefighters have lost their lives fighting wildfires, many of which could have been prevented had responsible logging been allowed.
The solution to poor logging practices is not to shut down logging but to promote responsible logging. Forests are valuable renewable resources that should be constructively managed, not left as tinder for the next devastating and massively polluting wildfire.
This is a bipartisan issue within local communities affected by these fires, precisely because the cause of the problem is undeniable and the solution is an obvious one. However, that hasn’t stopped out-of-state environmentalist groups from seeking to stop responsible national forest stewardship. In Montana, the Alliance for the Wild Rockies and Friends of the Wild Swan are suing to stop the state from thinning the Flathead National Forest. One would think that these environmentalists would embrace practical solutions for protecting the environment and decreasing air-pollution, but no. Once again an illogical emotional ideology trumps any rational solutions for these ecofascists.
Thankfully, Donald Trump’s interior secretary, Ryan Zinke, who is from Montana, is aggressively acting to correct the Forest Service’s mismanagement problem. Last week, Zinke issued a memo to park and land management officials instructing them to aggressively begin clearing out dead and dying trees on federal lands. The memo states that the aim is to “proactively work to prevent forest fires through aggressive and scientific fuels reduction managements to save lives, homes and wildlife habitat.” It will take time, but hopefully, through proper forest management the threats posed by these massive forest fires will significantly decrease, and the West’s forest will be healthier for it.  ~The Patriot Post

by Culture Beat:  The University of Virginia’s board of visitors voted last week to remove bronze tablets bearing the names of graduates who had fought and died for the Confederacy during the War Between the States. According to the board, the tablets, which have hung in the Rotunda since 1903, will be placed in an undisclosed location “where they may be preserved as artifacts of the era in which they were erected, and utilized to provide context to the history of the University.” The board voted to accept three of 10 demands that had been made by the school’s student council, which included the banning of open flames on campus and that the university agree to acknowledge that it received a gift of $1,000 from the Ku Klux Klan in 1921. There is dispute as to whether the KKK ever gave the money to the school.

In the wake of the Charlottesville violence, the major of Chattanooga, Tennessee, home to significant War Between the States history, similarly over reacted as UVA’s board has done. In August, Democrat Mayor Andy Burke announced that the city would no longer maintain the Confederate Cemetery in town. Burke opined, “Our action today makes it clear that the City of Chattanooga condemns white supremacy in every way, shape and form.” No it doesn’t. Burke just caved to the social justice mob. He continued, “While we honor our dead, we do not honor the principle for which they fought. Our city should be invested in our future, not a discredited past. Confederates fought against America to preserve slavery. That is the truth, and we should no longer subsidize any myths to the contrary.”
So instead Burke and others like him will continue to peddle the myth that the War Between the States was fought purely out of the South’s desperate attempt to preserve racism. These leftist iconoclasts won’t even consider the other pressing political considerations and convictions of those who fought to protect their homes and families from what they perceived as tyranny from the Northern states. They wholly ignore the fact that the issues leading to war were much more nuanced than they were black and white. Finally, in service to their divide and conquer agenda, they continue to popularize the myth that America is essentially an evil nation of white supremacists that continues to institutionalize racism and even slavery. (Never mind the Democrat-run urban poverty plantations.) And they label conservatives as motivated by bigotry and racism in order to shut down our speech — it’s easier than having to actually produce an intellectual argument to counter their social and political challenges.

ARE YOU (HISS! BOO!) A CATHOLIC?
by Burt Prelutsky

There was a time when the worst thing you could ask a politician was whether he was or ever had been a Communist. Now, judging by the grilling that Democrats Dianne Feinstein (Jewish) and Dick Durbin (Catholic) of the Senate Judiciary Committee gave Appeals Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, apparently it is open season on Catholics.  But only if they’re the sort of Catholics who take the Church’s prohibition on abortions seriously and might personally object to the federal funding of Planned Parenthood.

That’s why Sen. Feinstein made reference to dogma when she had Barrett on the hot seat and why Sen, Durbin questioned why Barrett would refer to "orthodox" Catholicism, a form of Catholicism that Durbin obviously finds objectionable, and well he should, considering how essential he seems to find the world’s largest abortion franchise.

Can you even for a second imagine either of these two political hacks daring to question a Muslim about his take on Sharia law or asking him to defend female genitalia mutilation?

What’s bizarre about this attack on Catholicism is that five members of the Supreme Court (Roberts, Kennedy, Thomas, Alito and Sotomayor) are Catholic. Gorsuch was raised and educated as a Catholic, but opted to join the Episcopalians.

Also, 24 members of the Senate are Catholics. So far, I haven’t heard any of them call out their liberal colleagues for engaging in religious baiting, which is not only unseemly, but unconstitutional.

● Democrats, who were up in arms when Rowan County (KY) clerk Kim Davis refused to issue a marriage license to a homosexual couple, because the law, after all, is the law, don’t appear to be the least bit perturbed by the large number of left-wing mayors and governors who have decided to flout federal law when it comes to dealing with illegal aliens.

Consistency doesn’t seem too much to ask of our so-called public servants. I, after all, object to same-sex marriages because I believe it is a silly notion that opens America up to justifiable mockery and scorn, but I nevertheless thought and wrote that Kim Davis should have resigned if her religious principles prevented her from obeying the law.

Today, I believe that every mayor and governor who promotes sanctuary status for his city or state should either resign or be arrested by federal marshals, and I don’t know why the members of Congress don’t feel the same way. After all, they’re the ones who passed those laws.

● It occurs to me that we live in topsy-turvy times. Consider, if you will, that the Southern Poverty Law Center, a hate group, claims to have the authority to label and call out hate groups; Antifa, a gang of fascist agitators, claims to oppose fascism; and Black Lives Matter, clearly a mob of black racists, claims to oppose racism.

Your calendar will tell you it’s 2017, but current conditions should convince you that it’s George Orwell’s 1984, when right is wrong, peace is war and up is down.

● It is difficult for me to fathom the widespread opposition to Christianity both here and in Europe. It seems that every time that those on the Left refer to Christianity it’s to insult those who follow the faith, whether it’s liar-nObama’s dismissing “those who cling to their guns and their religion;” liar-Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables;” or Durbin and Feinstein suggesting that a person who takes her Catholicism straight can’t be trusted to make honest, constitutionally-based, decisions from the bench.

I realize that Christianity has a checkered past if you go back far enough in history, which is something I notice that liberals are wont to do whenever anyone points out that Islam is not the peace-loving religion that George W. Bush kept insisting it is, even as its demented followers were killing our troops, beheading non-believers and bringing down our skyscrapers.

The fact that liberals never seemed able to grasp is that it’s not quite cricket to compare 13th century Christianity with 21st century Islam.

It seems particularly unfair when it was essentially a group of Christians who created this nation based on their belief in Judeo-Christian values, and where it was devout Christians, often ministers, who made it their sacred mission to abolish slavery in America.

Their opposition to the cursed practice wasn’t based on economic factors, but based, instead, on their God-inspired understanding that slavery was morally reprehensible. It was evil, something that liberals are reluctant to say about anything or anybody, except, possibly, white male heterosexuals; preferring to claim that blood-thirsty mobs, for instance, aren’t really evil, but simply acting out of rage based on economic deprivation.

● Before you fall, hook, line and sinker, for polls that claim that Donald Trump couldn’t even count on getting Melania’s vote if he were running for president this November, I will share a Time magazine poll taken in March, 1982.

As reported in the Fort Myers News-Press, 52% of those polled said they hoped Reagan would not seek a second term, with only 37% hoping he would.  A whopping 61% said it would be impossible for him to both cut taxes and increase Pentagon spending. No doubt, the media gloated over those numbers, as no doubt the editors at the NY Times are gloating over Trump’s current poll numbers.

I doubt very much whether those in the media mentioned the poll two years later when Reagan not only won re-election, but garnered 59% of the popular vote, along with 525 electoral votes to Walter Mondale’s 13.

Three years ahead of the 2020 election, I will go where wise men fear to tread and predict that if Trump gets his tax cuts through Congress, and the economy soars as it would inevitably do, he will win re-election in a cakewalk.

● I have always said that the greatest modern invention anyone has managed to come up with is air-conditioning. Having recently lived through multiple black-outs here in the San Fernando Valley when the temperature was hovering between 104 and 111, I am willing to state that nothing else even comes close.

But in times gone by, I would have assumed that before baths and showers came along, it was only perfume that made daily life bearable. That’s why whenever I see movies set in the distant past, I don’t care how melodic the music, how majestic the language, how beautiful the costumes and scenery, I’m sitting there thinking how those people must have reeked.

● I recently stated that I considered those who looted during natural disasters to be the scum of the earth. One of my more religious subscribers let me know “That in the last days, perilous times shall come. And Ye shall know them by their fruit.”

Not being a biblical scholar, I let him know that I would recognize them by their loot, but I would prefer to recognize them by their bullet-riddled carcasses.

Pennsylvania: DOJ & CAIR Force Mosque on Residential Bensalem Neighborhood Not Zoned for Houses of Worship

Source: Mosque To Be Built In Bensalem As Township Settles Lawsuit – Bensalem, PA Patch

BENSALEM, PA — The Justice Department and Bensalem Township have reached an agreement to resolve allegations that the township violated the law when it denied zoning approval for a mosque two years ago. As part of the agreement, the Bensalem Masjid will be permitted to build the mosque on Hulmeville Road.

The Bensalem Masjid sought to build a mosque on three adjoining parcels of land, but the application was denied by the Zoning Hearing Board after several public hearings in 2014.

The Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the township in July 2016.

The complaint alleged that the Bensalem Township’s denial of a variance imposed a “substantial burden on the Bensalem Masjid’s religious exercise, treated the Bensalem Masjid less favorably than the township treated nonreligious assemblies and discriminated against the Bensalem Masjid on the basis of religion,” according to the Justice Department.

The lawsuit also alleged that the township placed “unreasonable limitations” on religious assemblies generally through its land use regulations.

The Township has also agreed to review and amend its zoning ordinance to comply with the requirements of Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000 (RLUIPA). Additionally, the Township has agreed that it will advise its officials and employees about the requirements of RLUIPA, among other remedial measures.

A separate agreement resolving a similar lawsuit brought by the Bensalem Masjid against Bensalem Township has also been reached, according to information from the Justice Department.

MoreJeff Sessions’ DOJ Just Secured An Islamic Group’s Right To Build A Mosque

At public hearings, zoning board members expressed concerns about parking and traffic, as well as the size of the proposed mosque, which is located in a residential area. DOJ argued these concerns were frivolous, especially in light of the fact that the board previously issued such variances to other religious groups and commercial interests.

Some 200 families belong to the congregation, called Bensalem Masjid, which currently rents space at a local fire hall. Members of the masjid say the space is insufficient to their liturgical and spiritual needs.

The town has granted another Muslim congregation, Faith Unity, a permit to build a mosque in the township.

Another successful zoning jihad battle won by terror-linked CAIR and their Muslim counterparts in the DOJ that will force a large mosque located in a residential area that was not zoned for house-of-worship.

PS: Before it becomes a mosque issue, it’s an immigration issue.

New York: Muslim arrested with weapons cache headed to Islamic compound is out on bail

Source: Gun bust defendant released on bond while awaiting trial in November

The Johnson City man facing 16 charges in a massive weapons bust was granted release on bond Tuesday, as he awaits a Nov. 13 trial in Broome County Court.

Ramadan Abdullah, 64, has pleaded not guilty to an indictment charging more than a dozen felonies connected to his arrest in June, which police described as being one of the area’s largest gun takedowns in recent memory.

Judge Kevin Dooley granted Abdullah’s release from jail on bond Tuesday, after defense lawyer Matthew Ryan presented the court with two Binghamton properties that would be put up for collateral.

Bail is used to ensure defendants will appear for trial and all pretrial hearings for which they must be present.

If Abdullah fails to appear in future court dates, the state could collect at least $50,000 through forfeiture of the two properties, which were put up for bond by a friend of the defendant.

Before granting the release, Dooley initially stated one of the properties by itself was not sufficient collateral, but he agreed to the bail bond when the second property was put forward.

The judge also warned Abdullah that pretrial and trial proceedings could be held in his absence if he fails to show up in court, even though he has a constitutional right to be present at his trial.

“I’m not giving up any of my constitutional rights,” Abdullah said in court Tuesday.

Pretrial hearings in the case will be held Oct. 6.

The grand jury indicted Abdullah on six felony counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, nine felony counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one misdemeanor count of petit larceny. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.

Prosecutors say Abdullah was initially taken into custody May 31, after a shoplifting complaint at the Gander Mountain store in Johnson City. Nobody saw him steal anything, but police found him with suspected stolen ammunition.

On June 2, police found numerous illegal firearms and  about 10,000 rounds of ammunition ranging from .38-caliber to armor-piercing incendiary rounds as well during searches of storage units and other properties connected to Abdullah.

None of the firearms were registered to Abdullah, according to New York State Police Maj. James Barnes, and that alone made it illegal for him to possess them.

A source inside MOA [Muslims of America ] says the weapons were intended for the group’s “Islamberg” headquarters in Hancock, NY.

Minnesota authorities claim that motive of St. Cloud mall jihadi remains unclear

Dahir Adan’s motive is abundantly clear from this article itself, yet law enforcement officials still apparently think that why Adan stabbed 10 shoppers at St. Cloud’s Crossroads Center remains a big mystery.

Well, let’s see.

1. He “plunged kitchen knives into 10 shoppers at St. Cloud’s Crossroads Center mall, after reportedly asking some if they were Muslim.’

2. The Islamic State hailed him as a “soldier of the Islamic State.” This, of course, may be jihadi opportunism, and reflect only on the Islamic State and not on Adan at all, but even if this comes from the Islamic State and not from Adan, it demonstrates that the Islamic State saw his attack as a plausible enough jihad to be worth claiming, while non-Muslim Minnesota officials are still scratching their heads.

3. He screamed “Allahu akbar” as he was stabbing his victims.

Nonetheless, “authorities still say they may never know what sparked Adan’s decision to bring two Farberware kitchen knives to the mall that night.”

Of course they may never know, because they don’t admit that there is an Islamic jihad in the first place.

Meanwhile, “Natalie Ringsmuth, who directs #UniteCloud, a nonprofit that has worked to ease cultural tensions,” laments that “the stabbing is still referenced by anti-Muslim activists.” Once again we see that for Leftists, Muslims are always the victims, no matter what the facts of the case may be.

“One year later, motive of St. Cloud mall attacker remains unclear,” by Stephen Montemayor, Star Tribune, September 17, 2017:

Two months before he plunged kitchen knives into 10 shoppers at St. Cloud’s Crossroads Center mall, after reportedly asking some if they were Muslim, Dahir Adan shared a radically different message on Twitter.

“Don’t ever say that ISIS represents Islam,” read part of a post @D_Adan retweeted on July 4, 2016.

That same terrorist group would deem the 20-year-old Adan a “soldier of the Islamic State” hours after he was gunned down by an off-duty police officer inside the mall on Sept. 17, 2016. The FBI, for its part, quickly labeled the case a “potential act of terrorism.”

But one year after Adan’s rampage, newly unsealed court filings detailing the FBI’s early response underline the difficulty that persists in trying to unwrap the young man’s motivation and determine whether he had any guidance from virtual terror planners abroad.

Days after sending more than 20 agents to St. Cloud to interview scores of witnesses, the FBI obtained search warrants for Adan’s social media accounts, the Toyota Camry he was driving when he struck a bicyclist on his way to the mall and four digital devices, according to court filings. But authorities still say they may never know what sparked Adan’s decision to bring two Farberware kitchen knives to the mall that night.

FBI special agent in charge Richard Thornton told reporters last year that the bright young college student may have been radicalized “almost overnight,” growing withdrawn and scolding relatives for not being more devout….

Authorities have not found contacts between Adan and operatives of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, instead pointing to witness statements that Adan shouted “Allahu akbar,” an Arabic phrase meaning “God is great,” and that he first asked some victims if they were Muslim before stabbing them….

An official ISIS magazine, Rumiyah, further lionized Adan as “our brother Dahir Adan” in its October 2016 publication, listing only the St. Cloud attack among its U.S. “operations” in an annual roundup of the group’s affiliated attacks worldwide. The publication described the stabbing victims as “kuffar,” or disbelievers, and published an image of paramedics tending to a victim outside the mall.

The same issue published an article recommending using knives in attacks because of their wide availability. But, perhaps in response to Adan’s attack, the group “explicitly advised” against kitchen knives “as their basic structure is not designed to handle the kind of vigorous application used for assassinations and slaughter.”

The group also wrote that it was “essential to leave some kind of evidence or insignia identifying the motive and allegiance” to ISIS — either a note pinned to a body or a recorded “final testament if the operation will be of a nature where the expected outcome is one’s shahadah,” or death….

A family friend who declined to be identified for this story said that one year later, he still “didn’t have a clue” as to what happened to Adan….

The opacity of Adan’s case has been difficult for St. Cloud, said Natalie Ringsmuth, who directs #UniteCloud, a nonprofit that has worked to ease cultural tensions. Ringsmuth said the stabbing is still referenced by anti-Muslim activists visiting the city, as recently as last week. Meanwhile, she said not knowing whether Adan was indeed radicalized has curbed the opportunity to discuss preventing a similar episode….
