The global shipping company United Parcel Service and an Edina staffing agency are being sued for allegedly barring Muslim workers from fulfilling their prayer requirements at the UPS warehouse facility in Mendota Heights and then firing them.
The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN) is representing the plaintiffs in the lawsuit filed last week in Hennepin County District Court against UPS and Doherty Staffing Solutions on behalf of two line workers who were fired in June 2014.
Abdullahi Dahir and Abdifatah Hassan said they had been allowed to pray as needed while at work until UPS hired a new operations manager. That manager refused to let Muslim employees pray outside of regular break times and also warned them against using trips to the bathroom to fulfill their need to pray five times a day, the suit contends. Those who didn’t comply were fired, the suit alleges.
“There is no lawful reason for any company to stop Muslims from praying when previously that company had allowed such prayers in a manner that did not impact the workplace,” said CAIR-MN’s civil rights director Amir Malik, one of the plaintiffs’ attorneys. UPS and Doherty Staffing Solutions withdrew “this reasonable accommodation … in order to get rid of the Muslim employees,” Malik said in a statement announcing the suit.
In response to the suit, UPS said in a statement that it joined with Doherty in a thorough investigation “and found no evidence to support these allegations.” When contacted Monday, a Doherty representative made no one available to respond and declined to take a message.
During a UPS employee meeting, the suit reads, operations manager Scott Klein asked for a show of hands from anyone needing to pray at work. Most Muslim workers raised their hands. Then, according to the lawsuit, “Mr. Klein stated that he wanted to replace all of the employees who had raised their hands.”
Despite further talks between management and the plaintiffs, the Muslim workers were barred from meeting their prayer needs, sent home and told not to return if they insisted on praying at the required times.
“Faced with losing his job or losing his religion,” CAIR-MN said in its statement announcing the suit, “Mr. Hassan and other Somali Muslim workers were forced out of their employment at the UPS facility.”
Doherty is a defendant, the statement explained, because the agency “abdicated [its] role as a staffing agency and let the Muslims be terminated.”
The suit claims violations of the Minnesota Human Rights Act, and it seeks an unspecified amount of damages for alleged discrimination based on religious affiliation, race and national origin.

Sweeney Jr., the Assistant Director-in-Charge of the New York Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (“FBI”), and James P. O’Neill, the Commissioner of the Police Department for the City of New York (“NYPD”), announced that ALI KOURANI and SAMER EL DEBEK, a/k/a “Samer Eldebek,” were arrested on Thursday, June 1, 2017, on charges related to their alleged activities on behalf of Hizballah, a designated foreign terrorist organization.
KOURANI was arrested in the Bronx for providing, attempting, and conspiring to provide material support to Hizballah; receiving and conspiring to receive military-type training from Hizballah; a related weapons offense that is alleged to have involved, among other weapons, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher and machine guns; violating and conspiring to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (“IEEPA”); and naturalization fraud to facilitate an act of international terrorism. KOURANI was presented on Friday, June 2, 2017, before Magistrate Judge Barbara Moses in Manhattan federal court.
EL DEBEK was arrested in Livonia, Michigan, outside of Detroit, for providing, attempting, and conspiring to provide material support to Hizballah; receiving and conspiring to receive military-type training from Hizballah; use of weapons in connection with a crime of violence that is alleged to have involved, among other weapons, explosives, a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, and machine guns; and violating and conspiring to violate IEEPA. EL DEBEK was presented on Monday, June 5, 2017, before Magistrate Judge Henry Pitman in Manhattan federal court.
KOURANI’s Alleged Support of Hizballah
KOURANI, who was born in Lebanon, attended Hizballah-sponsored weapons training in Lebanon in 2000 when he was approximately 16 years old. After lawfully entering the United States in 2003, KOURANI obtained a Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering in 2009, and a Masters of Business Administration in 2013.
KOURANI and certain of his relatives were present during the summer 2006 conflict between Israel and Hizballah in Lebanon, when a residence belonging to his family was destroyed. KOURANI was subsequently recruited to join the IJO by 2008. In August 2008, KOURANI submitted an application for naturalization in the United States in which he falsely claimed, among other things, that he was not affiliated with a terrorist organization. In April 2009, KOURANI became a naturalized citizen and was issued a United States passport. Despite claiming in his passport application that he had no travel plans, KOURANI traveled to Guangzhou, China – the location of Guangzhou Company-1 – on May 3, 2009. He later claimed to the FBI that the purpose of the trip was to meet with medical device manufacturers and other businessmen.
KOURANI was assigned an IJO handler, or mentor, responsible for providing him with taskings, debriefings, and arranging training. KOURANI sometimes communicated with his handler using coded email communications, including messages sent by the handler that informed KOURANI of the need to return to Lebanon. In order to establish contact with his handler when KOURANI returned to Lebanon, KOURANI called a telephone number associated with a pager (the “IJO Pager”) and provided a code that he understood was specific to him. After KOURANI called the IJO Pager, the handler would contact KOURANI to set up an in-person meeting by calling a phone belonging to one of KOURANI’s relatives. The IJO also provided KOURANI with additional training in tradecraft, weapons, and tactics. In 2011, for example, KOURANI attended an IJO military training camp located in the vicinity of Birkat Jabrur, Lebanon, where he was provided with military-tactics and weapons training, including training in the use of a rocket propelled grenade launcher, an AK-47 assault rifle, an MP5 submachine gun, a PKS machine gun (a Russian-made belt-fed weapon), and a Glock pistol.
Based on requests from IJO personnel, which were conveyed during periodic in-person meetings when KOURANI returned to Lebanon, KOURANI also conducted operations that included searching for weapons suppliers in the United States who could provide firearms to support IJO operations, identifying individuals affiliated with the Israeli Defense Force, gathering information regarding operations and security at airports in the United States and elsewhere, and surveilling U.S. military and law enforcement facilities in Manhattan and Brooklyn. KOURANI transmitted some of the products of his surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts back to IJO personnel in Lebanon using digital storage media.
KOURANI, 32, of the Bronx, is charged with providing material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison; conspiracy to provide material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison; receiving military-type training from a designated foreign terrorist organization, which carries a sentence of 10 years in prison or a fine; conspiracy to receive military-type training from a designated foreign terrorist organization, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison; conspiracy to possess, carry, and use firearms and destructive devices during and in relation to crimes of violence, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison; making and receiving a contribution of funds, goods, and services to and from Hizballah, in violation of IEEPA, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison; conspiracy to make and receive a contribution of funds, goods, and services to and from Hizballah, in violation of IEEPA, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison; and naturalization fraud in connection with an act of international terrorism, which carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison.

Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) jihadists, in the most recent edition of their propaganda magazine Rumiyah, have reportedly released “unseen” pictures of “belligerent Christians” executed by the jihadist group in the Philippines.
“The soldiers of the Khilafah in East Asia stormed the city of Marawi in the southern Philippines on the island of Mindanao, chased out the local police and the military, and raised the banner of the Islamic State,” the jihadists wrote in the latest issue of Rumiyah, titled “The Jihad in East Asia.”
The new issue focuses on ISIS’s ongoing operations in the Christian-majority nation of the Philippines, where the terrorist group has been clashing with government forces, particularly in the country’s only “Islamic city” of Marawi.
In late May, Filipino jihadist groups loyal to ISIS, Abu Sayyaf and the Maute fighters, captured the city, and the government forces have been trying to liberate the Marawi since.
ISIS is trying to establish a caliphate in the city, burning cathedrals, taking Christian hostages, and killing civilians who were unable to quote scripture from the Quran.
In Rumiyah, the leader of ISIS’s East Asia branch incites Muslims to “teach the Crusaders that zero hour has arrived.”

News of the probe comes after the family of evil Butt’s ex-wife said he used to beat her and was “full of anger and hate”.
Butt reportedly watched hate videos by cleric Ahmad Musa Jibril who has inspired Islamic State fighters and extremists.
A former friend of the ringleader – gunned down by armed cops alongside his two accomplices after the atrocity that claimed eight innocent lives – said he used to be an avid follower of the American preacher, known for his hatred of the West.
The Daily Mail reports that a joint UK-US investigation has been launched to discover if Jibril was involved in planning the van and knife attack.
The family of Butt’s first wife have told the Mail his hate led to the breakdown of the marriage and that she walked out after he hit her.
After last week’s attack it was revealed that preacher Jibril’s online rants were popular with Butt, who is said to have masterminded last weekend’s horror attack in the capital….
A pal claimed he had been radicalised while watching online clips of Jibril’s hardline sermons and said he even contacted the authorities after becoming concerned over his friend’s increasingly extremist views….
Jibril is an Arab-American Islamist preacher who has reportedly influenced hundreds of Westerners to fight in the Syrian conflict.
His alleged call for jihad in 2005 led US federal prosecutors to describe him as a man who “encouraged his students to spread Islam by the sword, to wage a holy war” and “to hate and kill non-Muslims”.
His lectures have been criticised for turning into angry rants about Western crimes against Muslims and he peppered his talk with invectives against Shi’a Muslims and called on God to turn Jewish children into orphans.
From his home in Michigan, the convicted fraudster produces Internet lectures that advocate a Salafist version of Islam that praises jihad, although he doesn’t specifically call upon his followers to join jihadi groups.
He has directly praised Syrian rebels, comparing them to those fighting on behalf of Islam in the religion’s early days.

Thomas Fuentes, the FBI’s special agent in charge of International Operations, noted in 2007 that Hizballah is reluctant to launch violent attacks on U.S. soil because it would hinder their overall operations: “They want to maintain a low profile by engaging in criminal activity [but] not direct attacks….They’ve not been enthusiastic about doing it on US soil because of the attention and reaction that would occur.”
That may be changing now.

One week after the FBI raided a Dearborn home in the middle of the night, a new terrorism case surfaced in New York on Thursday involving two men: a Dearborn man who allegedly received bomb-making training from a terror group and another man who allegedly plotted attacks on New York.
Samer el Debek, 37, of Dearborn and Ali Kourani, 32, of the Bronx were arrested a week ago and charged with training and working on behalf of Hizballah, a U.S.-designated terrorist organization based in Lebanon.
“FBI bomb technicians have assessed that el Debek received extensive training as a bomb-maker,” the Justice Department stated.
The charges were unsealed in Manhattan federal court on Thursday, one week after federal agents raided a Dearborn home in what they described as an operation involving national security. Sources familiar with the case tell the Free Press the raid involved el Debek, who was arrested in Livonia that same day and subsequently charged with numerous crimes — though none involved plotting attacks in New York.
In December, another Dearborn man was sentenced to five years in prison for seeking to join Hizballah in Lebanon. Also, in 2014 in a separate case, a former Dearborn resident was killed in Syria while fighting for Hizballah.
According to criminal complaints unsealed Thursday in Manhattan’s U.S. District Court, el Debek and Kourani were recruited as Hizballah operatives and received military-style training, including in the use of rocket-propelled grenade launchers and machine guns, in support of the group’s terrorist mission.
Kourani allegedly conducted surveillance of potential targets in the U.S., including military and law enforcement facilities in New York, authorities said….
El Debek, a naturalized U.S. citizen, was first recruited by Hizballah in late 2007 or early 2008. Shortly before being recruited, he expressed his support for the terror group’s leader in an e-mail and eventually received a salary from Hizballah through 2015.
For years, authorities said, el Debek received military training from Hizballah in Lebanon. From 2008 through 2104, the terror group taught him how to make bombs, handle weapons and conduct surveillance and countersurveillance.
According to the government, el Debek was trained in techniques and methods similar to those used to build the bomb that in 2012 blew up a bus in Bulgaria that was transporting Israeli tourists, killing six and injuring 32. That terror attack, the government said, was carried out by one of el Debek’s relatives.
While working for Hizballah, el Debek conducted missions in Thailand and Panama. One of his missions was to clean up explosive materials in a house in Bangkok that others had left because they were under surveillance, the government said. At the direction of Hizballah, el Debek used his U.S. passport to enter and leave Thailand so that he could travel from Malaysia to Thailand without obtaining a visa.
El Debek’s missions in Panama included locating U.S. and Israeli Embassies, casing security procedures at the Panama Canal and the Israeli Embassy and locating hardware stores where explosive materials could be purchased. After returning from a 2012 trip to Panama, el Debek’s handlers asked him for photographs of the U.S. Embassy and details about its security procedures….

Early this week, CNN was accused of staging a Muslim-led anti-terror protest after the London terror attacks. Now, more footage has dropped that shows what happened on the scene before the CNN shot was taken.
A Youtube video taken by Claire Jordan shows her milling around the scene and “protest” prior to CNN lining up the protesters for their on-air shot.
There is a group of people in the area, both Muslim and non-Muslim, and some of them can be seen handing out bouquets of flowers and posters.
Jordan, narrating the video, observes, “you see more press than anyone else.”
Jordan then crosses the street and shows the Muslim women who were featured on the CNN broadcast. They are located on the opposite side of the street and “they’re taking selfies, none of them have got flowers.”…

SHENANGO TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — The proposed sale of the former New Castle Youth Development Center has raised alarms in Shenango Township, Lawrence County.
Little is known about the highest bidder, HIRA Educational Services, and that’s the problem. Townspeople are suspicious.
“I would hope the governor would say this is all null and void. We’re going to open this up to bidding again,” said Shirley Sallmen, a resident and critic of the state’s bidding process.
Now, three state lawmakers – Sen. Elder Vogel, Rep. Chris Sainato and Rep. Aaron Bernstine – are asking the same. They have sent a letter to Gov. Tom Wolf asking him to void the sale.
HIRA is a consultant group and their stated mission is to help Muslim schools in the U.S.
While some on social media have raised ethnic distrust and used racial epithets, the lawmakers have focused on the company’s lack of credentials and financial wherewithal.
The company bid $400,000 to purchase the 143-acre site with 13 buildings, but KDKA’s research finds that the company claims only one employee in an apartment in Newark, New Jersey, and has not reported income of more than $50,000 in each of the past three years.
In addition, the state of New Jersey has revoked HIRA’s non-profit status for failing to submit required financial reports for two consecutive years. KDKA’s Andy Sheehan called the company phone number, but got only answer machine. And no one from HIRA returned the calls.
On Thursday, the Shenango Township supervisors will be holding the monthly meeting and a large crowd is expected.

Lawrence County’s state legislators are scrambling to find information about the New Jersey company that is purchasing the former Youth Development Center property in Shenango Township.
The DGS is finalizing the bid and completing the sale of the property. The process is expected to take several months. During this time, the bid will be reviewed by the state’s general counsel and the attorney general’s office.
State Rep. Aaron Bernstine was not available for comment Monday but promised to speak on the matter later this week.
The state-owned property has been idle since the YDC closed in 2013. Over the years, the asking price dropped from $4 million to $300,000. Prior attempts by the state to sell the property drew no bidders.
On its website, Hira describes itself as a consulting firm for Islamic schools. Two employees are listed on the website. President and CEO Muhammad Asif, also listed by the name Asif Kunwar. The vice-president is listed as Abdul Basit. The site says the company has adjunct staff members throughout the United States.
Although Hira submitted the highest bid, Muhammad Asif Kunwar submitted an individual bid of $300,000 for the YDC, the third and lowest bid of the three submitted. A state official said last week Kunwar did not sign the Hira bid, only his individual bid. The middle bid for $305,000, was submitted by Sumner McDaniel.
A check of Hira’s website shows that many of the links lead nowhere. An invitation to sign up for a newsletter from the company is a dead link, as are supposed links to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts. Misspellings abound on the website as well as grammatical errors and awkward wordings. No one from the school has responded to repeated attempts at telephone contact, although a woman answered one of the calls and promised to relay the request for a callback. Other calls went to voicemail.
In addition, a reverse phone lookup of the phone number listed on the website resulted in the name of another man — not listed on the school’s website. Attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful. A 501c3 lookup website also listed yet another man as a contact for the business and listed a New Jersey apartment as the address.

Tensions are running so high that Thursday, people were wanded with a metal detector before being allowed into a meeting of the Shenango Township supervisors.
So many people showed up that the fire department put a safety limit on how many people were allowed inside the building. The rest sat on chairs outside.
Township supervisors started out by stressing they had nothing to do with the sale of the property. They said the state of Pennsylvania owns the YDC property, decided the way the property would be sold and accepted the bids on the property.

Organizers say they will be taking a public stand against female genital mutilation, honor violence, the blasphemy and apostasy laws, among other elements of Shariah that are increasingly showing up in American society.
Brigitte Gabriel, the founder of ACT For America, said America is now starting to experience some of the same atrocities of Shariah that her family escaped in Lebanon decades ago.
“We want to increase awareness about certain practices that are starting to happen in our country with the rise of Islamic immigration, because we are now hearing about female genital mutilation, like the cases in Detroit recently announced by the Department of Justice,” she told WND. “Who would have thought in 21st century America, after what women did working so hard in defense of women’s rights that we’d be talking about little girls being horribly mutilated, and that 513,000 girls are at risk of this barbaric Third World procedure, according to the CDC [Centers for Disease Control].”
ACT! will also shine a light on honor killings and honor violence.
“It’s already here in America,” Gabriel said. “We’re seeing girls being killed simply for wanting to wear makeup. Under our Constitution they deserve the same rights and protections.”
She said U.S. feminists are “completely silent on this issue, and that is why we are trying to humanize this issue by putting names behind these atrocities. On our website we have faces of girls and woman who have been killed in the name of honor by their husbands in America. We want to personalize these faces so when people hear about honor killing and FGM they know it is happening here in America to American girls and women, not just in Pakistan or India or Saudi Arabia.”
Scott Presler, one of the organizers of the event, said the left will try to paint the rallies as “Islamophobic” and anti-Muslim, because that’s what the left always does in its defense of the Islamist agenda.

If radical leftists want to hold counter protests in favor of female genital mutilations, honor killings and the death penalty for former Muslims who have left the faith, they are more than welcome to do so, he said.

The only way to protect Poland from terrorist attacks is by not allowing Islamic migrants into the country, Polish European Parliament deputy Ryszard Czarnecki has said.
His comments follow an attack in London on Saturday which killed ten, including three suspects, and injured at least 48 others.
Czarnecki, who hails from Poland’s conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, said terrorist attacks were often carried out by children of “Islamic migrants” – many of them citizens of European countries – who were trained by the so-called Islamic State.
“Other countries have led to a situation in which those trained on Islamic State territory in Syria, Iraq – young people with French, Belgian, Dutch, British, German citizenship – return to Europe … and somehow [the authorities] were incapable of monitoring them,” Czarnecki said.
“We, Poland, are learning from the mistakes of others … and we will not open our doors to Islamic migrants,” he added.
Czarnecki also said that recent attacks in the UK aimed to influence the result of British parliamentary elections, which will be held on 8 June.
Saturday’s attack was the third in the UK in recent months.
On 22 May, a suicide bomber killed 22 and injured dozens of others as they streamed out of a concert in Manchester, northwest England.
In March, a lone attacker drove his car into a crowd near Westminster in London, killing four and injuring 50.
Czarnecki advised Britain to remove “radical migrants”, saying: “If a radical Muslim leader calls his brothers-in-faith at the mosque … to fight with the unfaithful then I believe there are grounds to expel that Imam”. (vb/pk)

Khuram Butt, “the ringleader of the London terror attack was bankrolled by the taxpayer,” aka the “Jihad Seeker’s Allowance.” A jihadist’s hatred and scorn of infidels also bestows upon him a sense of entitlement: he may benefit freely from infidels, in lieu of the jizya payments that are his due, as per the Qur’an (9:29).
Butt was an associate of preacher “Anjem Choudary, who encouraged his followers to exploit Britain’s welfare system.” TheReligionofPeace.com reported that “Choudary taught that ‘the normal situation is for [Muslims] to take money from the kuffar’ and that:
The Quran also affirms that the collection of jizya is is the ideal relationship between Muslims and non-Muslims…..This is why Islamic purists such as Hamas and the Taliban wish to reinstate the jizya. One of the first orders of the self-declared caliphate formed by the Islamic State in 2014 was to impose the jizya by force on Christians who refused to embrace Islam.

The ringleader of the London terror attack was bankrolled by the taxpayer, it has been revealed.
Khuram Butt, 27, was claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance of around £300 a month, and was also paid housing benefit for his council-owned flat in Barking as well as child benefit.
Father-of-two Butt was a supporter of al-Muhajiroun and an associate of its leader Anjem Choudary, who encouraged his followers to exploit Britain’s welfare system.
The jailed hate preacher even used the phrase ‘Jihad Seeker’s Allowance’.
Butt, who wore an Arsenal shirt on the night of the attack, started claiming benefits after being sacked from his job on the London Underground last October.
He worked there as a trainee customer services assistant for nearly six months but was fired for poor timekeeping.
He also received Jobseeker’s Allowance for over a year after leaving a job at KFC and prior to working for Transport for London, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Relatives of Butt said he drew inspiration from extremist videos on YouTube and wanted to fight in Syria but had his passport taken away by family.
Fahad Khan, 36, the cousin of Butt’s wife Zahrah Rehman, claimed his younger relative watched the hateful tirades of preachers online and supported ISIS.
Butt is suspected of running mixed martial arts classes at the Ummah Fitness Centre, in Barking, in an attempt to groom teenagers for terror.
The gym was raided by police on Tuesday after CCTV revealed the three London Bridge terrorists met there days before the attack.
It shows Butt meeting Rachid Redouane, 30, and Youssef Zaghba, 22, five days before they murdered eight people and left dozens injured.
Counter-terrorist police are building a detailed picture of the activities of the three men before Saturday night’s massacre…..
