Canadian imam Syed Soharwardy: Sharia is the solution, jizya not discriminatory

( Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate )

The prominent Canadian imam Syed Soharwardy is at it again, spreading dawah and preaching sharia. He also proclaims that “the rights of women and non-Muslim minorities are completely protected by the Islamic Shari’a.” One need only look at world news, history, and traditional as well as current Islamic jurisprudence, and it is abundantly clear that such a statement is patently false. It will remain false unless Islam becomes fully modernized and abandons the Sharia, which teaches that women are half the worth of men (in testimony, Qur’an 2:282), allows for wife beating (Qur’an 4:34), sex on demand and the sexual slavery of infidel women (Qur’an 4:3, 4:24, 23:1-6, 33:50, 70:30) and for women to be covered except for their face and hands or risk being “abused” (Quran 24:31 and Quran 33:59).

Some other previous statements made by Soharwardy:

“Sharia cannot be customized for specific countries. These universal, divine laws are for all people of all countries for all times.”

“I am one of the founding members of the Islamic Institute of Civil Justice. The mandate of the institute is to resolve disputes within existing Canadian laws by using the principles of conflict resolution from Islamic Law, or sharia.”

“Presently, what Israeli forces are doing to Palestinians is worse than the Holocaust of World War II.”

Still, Soharwardy is “invited by CBC as a guest expert to discuss issues related to terrorism and radicalization” — a man who also openly advocates the jizya tax on non-Muslims, in keeping with the Sharia.

“Fight those who believe not in Allah and the Last Day and do not forbid what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden, and do not practice the religion of truth, even if they are of the People of the Book — until they pay the jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued.” — Quran 9:29

CIJ news reports that it “obtained a copy of a book ‘The Quran’ (Saheeh International) that is being distributed for free across Ontario by Islamic groups, mosques and the Islamic booths at Toronto’s Dundas Square and St. Lawrence Market….The book explains the Islamic Law based on the Quran and Sunnah.” Note the justification of jihad violence:

Muslims should avoid causing them any harm as long as they comply with the agreement and do not breach it…If they breach the agreement and break in some way, their blood and properties become lawful.

This is an alarming vision of sharia subjugation of the infidel, sanctioning violence against non-Muslims, and it is being distributed across Ontario. If infidels don’t submit, then their “blood and properties become lawful.” This incitement to violence and advocacy of sharia is a thinly veiled call for an Islamic takeover of Western governments, to be replaced by the sharia. At the same time, Canada moves toward sharia objectives, even pushing through “anti-Islamophobia” motion M-103, as well as enacting “anti-Islamophobia” charters in six major cities across Canada — all initiatives pushed by individuals with unsavory links to the Muslim Brotherhood.

In Sohawardy’s own words, which were posted on the official site of the Islamic Supreme Council: “The purpose of Islam is to create a very strong ethical and spiritual society on earth.” Soharwardy’s prominence as a “moderate” Muslim leader in Canada and status as a member of Canada’s “diverse” community is at odds with his open advocacy of sharia.

Imam Syed Soharwardy of Calgary, the head of the Calgary-based Islamic Supreme Council of Canada and the founder of Muslims Against Terrorism, is often invited by CBC as a guest expert to discuss issues related to terrorism and radicalization. He is introduced as a moderate voice in the Muslim community who “has worked to prevent the radicalization of youth in Canada.”
In an article entitled “Islamic Shari’a – A Blessing OR a Burden” posted on the official site of the Islamic Supreme Council, Soharwardy says the following:

“The purpose of Islam is to create a very strong ethical and spiritual society on earth.”

“The current chaos in Muslim countries is… is because of the absence of Shari’a [Islamic Law].”

Under Islamic Sharia Law, poor thieves will be exempted from the punishment of cutting their hands off.

“The rights of women and non-Muslim minorities are completely protected by the Islamic Shari’a [Law].”

The following are excerpts from Syed Soharwardy’s article:

Islam is not just a religion, it is a normal and natural way of life… The purpose of Islam is to create a very strong ethical and spiritual society on earth. In order to create such a society, Islam provides a complete road map. This road map is called Shari’a.

From the early 7th century until the 18th century, the Islamic countries fully enforced the Islamic Shari’a… Currently, there is not a single Islamic state where Shari’a is enforced in its full and pure form, only bits and pieces of Shari’a have been enforced and this is what confuses many people…

Neither Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), nor the Islamic Shari’a should be blamed for the behaviour of any extremist that uses Islam for his/her own personal gains. The current chaos in Muslim countries is not because of Shari’a. It is because of the absence of Shari’a…

Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) implemented Shari’a after he purified the hearts and minds of the society (inner side of a person). He implemented Shari’a after he made sure that no one sleeps hungry in the Islamic state. When he (Peace be upon him) asked women to dress modestly, he also asked men to dress modestly and lower their gaze. Sincerity, honesty, purity and economic independence is the pre-requisite of Shari’a. Before implementing Shari’a, the Muslim governments and jurists must make sure that every citizen of their country has food, shelter and dress. Shari’a can not be implemented on empty stomachs. A person who is going to die because of hunger can steal food and no one has the right to cut his hands. This is what Shari’a says. If a woman is raped by a man, the man should be punished not the woman. The so-called honour killings is a cruel custom of ignorant times and has no basis in Islamic Shari’a.

The rights of women and non-Muslim minorities are completely protected by the Islamic Shari’a. There should be no doubt about it. Therefore, Islamic Shari’a is a blessing not a burden.
On Sunday, April 2, 2017, Soharwardy delivered a speech at Christ Church Scraborough Village in Toronto.

The following is an excerpts [sic] from Soharwardy’s speech entitled “Interfaith Dialogue – Understanding Islam and Muslims”:

“Jizya [poll-tax] is not a discrimination against non-Muslims… In Islam everybody pay taxes… Muslims pay taxes which is called Zakat and non-Muslims pay taxes which is called Jizya… This is not racism… non-Muslims should be used on non-Muslims to protect their lives… and to their security and safety.”

CIJnews obtained a copy of a book “The Quran” (Saheeh International) that is being distributed for free across Ontario by Islamic groups, mosques and the Islamic booths at Toronto’s Dundas Square and St. Lawrence Market.

The book explains the Islamic Law based on the Quran and Sunnah (narrations about Mohammad’s sayings and deeds) regarding the fighting (jihad) against disbelievers, enforcing of a poll-tax on Jews and Christians who live under the rule of the Islamic State, taking non-Muslims women as sex-slaves during war, wife beating under certain conditions, punishing those of wage war against Islam by execution, crucifixion and amputation, condemning sodomy as an “evil” act and executing married men and women who were convicted of fornication by stoning them to death.

The following are excerpts from the book that deal with rights of non-Muslims in the Islamic State (Quranic verse followed by a modern commentary):

Surah (chapter) Al Imra, verse 112: “They have been put under humiliation [by Allah] wherever they are overtaken, except for a rope [i.e., covenant] from Allah and a rope [i.e., treaty] from the people [i.e., the Muslims].144 And they have drawn upon themselves anger from Allah and have been put under destitution. That is because they disbelieved in [i.e., rejected] the verses of Allah and killed the prophets without right. That is because they disobeyed and [habitually] transgressed.”

Modern commentary, footnote 144: “Once they have surrendered, the People of the Scripture retain their rights and honor (in spite of their refusal of Islam) through payment of the jizyah tax in place of zakah and military service due from Muslims. They are then under the protection of the Islamic state.”

The book “Human Rights in Islam and Common Misconceptions” by Abdul-Rahman al-Sheha that was also handed out at the Islamic booth at Toronto’s Dundas Square states the following:
“The non-Muslim residents of an Islamic state are required to pay a minimal tax called ‘Jizyah’ which is specific type of head-tax collected from individuals who do not accept Islam and desire to keep their religion while living in an Islamic state and under Islamic rule…”

The book Minhaj Al-Muslim (A book of Creed, Manners, Character, Acts of Worship and other Deeds) by Abu Bakr Jabir Al-Jaza’iry, is being sold in Islamic bookstores across Canada and is deemed a reliable source on Islamic Sharia Law. The following is excerpts from Vol. 2 pp. 182-185 that deal with the rights and duties of non-Muslims in the Islamic State:

The Agreement of Protection given to the Non-Muslim sunjects under tje Islamic Government, and its Regulations.

1. The agreement of protection given to the non-Muslims subjects under the Islamic Government

The agreement of protection is an assurance to the disbelievers who respond to Muslims by paying the Jizyah tax. It is a pact in which they promise the Muslims to adhere to the laws of the Islamic Sharia related to the prescribed laws of punishment, such as for murder, stealing and breach of honor.

2. Who is responsible for the agreement of protection given to the non-Muslim subjects under the Islamic Government?

It is only the Imam or his deputy among thr military commanders who has the authority to give the agreement of protection to non-Muslims. As for others, they have no right to do that. As for giving personal protection and security, it is permissible for ant Muslim man and woman to do that…

3. Distinguishing between the Muslims and non-Muslims who live under the Islamic Government

It is obligatory for non-Muslims to distinguish themselves from Muslims in the matter of clothing and other things, so that they will be recognized (as non-Muslim). It is not permissible to bury them in the Muslims’ cemetery. Similarly, it is not permissible to stand for them, nor it is permissible to precede them with the greetings of peace. Also, they should not be given seats of honor at gatherings…

Things Forbidden to Non-Muslims living under the Islamic government

Certain things are forbidden to the non-Muslims living under the Islamic government, such as:
1) Constructing Churches or Synagogues, or renovating the demolished ones…
2) Erecting the residence of non-Muslims above the homes of the Muslims…
3) Publicly drinking intoxicants or eating swine (pork) in front of the Muslims, or eating and drinking during the daytime of Ramadhan. Rather, they must conceal whatever things are forbidden to Muslims, due to fear of them causing temptation (to do what is forbidden) for the Muslims.

Things that invalidate the Agreement of Protection given to Non-Muslims living under the Islamic Government.

There are certain things that invalidate the agreement of protection given to the non-Muslims living under the Islamic Government such as:
1) refusing to pay the Jizyah tax.
2) Lack of adherence to the Islamic laws, which was a condition in the contract.
3) Aggression against Muslims by killing, robbery, spying or giving asylum to such a spy for the enemy, or committing fornication or idolatry with Muslim women.
4) Mentioning Allah, His Messenger or His Book in a blasphemous way.
Rights of Non-Muslims living under the Islamic Government.

It is the duty of Muslims to protect the lives, property and honor of non-Muslims living under the Islamic Government. The Muslims should avoid causing them any harm as long as they comply with the agreement and do not breach it…

If they breach the agreement and break in some way, their blood and properties become lawful….

And this is what makes Muslims as an immigrant group different than any other immigrant group. Muslims are the only immigrant group that comes to Western countries with a ready-made model of society and government (sharia) that they believe to be superior to what we have here, and they work to institute it. So this is going to keep on happening, until someone, somewhere, says, “No more accommodation. We’re going to stand up for our own principles.” American businesses should start saying that now.

So for these new political Islamic parties — it is only a manner of time. A demographic time bomb, that is. Soon their numbers will overwhelm the ballot boxes. Give it a generation.

Even Trevor Phillips, the former chief of Britain’s Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC), admitted that the path the West has been on for years is a catastrophic failure. Muslims won’t assimilate and become loyal Britons.

Phillips wrote: “For a long time, I too thought that Europe’s Muslims would become like previous waves of migrants, gradually abandoning their ancestral ways, wearing their religious and cultural baggage lightly, and gradually blending into Britain’s diverse identity landscape. I should have known better.” Instead, he wrote, Muslims are creating “nations within nations” in the West.

There are some interesting pull quotes in this article about political Islam parties rising in Europe but the author shows her ignorance when speaking of far right and “neo-Nazi groups in Germany and the United States” – Nazis were far left, not far right, and let’s be frank, pose little threat today save for the outer fringe. And what is far-right anyway? Opposing jihad terror and sharia is now considered far-right. Sorry, I will not accede that ground. It is patently false. “Far right” is the new dyphemism for patriotism or national right parties.

Bill Nye the “Science Guy” tried to claim the Constitution supported the concerns of thousands of scientists and environmental activists who took to the streets on Earth Day to protest the Trump administration’s proposed budget cuts to federal agencies.

The march took place in dozens of cities across the world, and the main march took place in Washington, D.C., Saturday. Nye spoke at the rally where thousands carried signs deriding skeptics of global warming and cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other bureaucracies that fund or conduct scientific research.

“And it is interesting to note, I think, that Article 1 Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution refers to the progress of science and the useful arts,” Nye said.

 liar-Hillary's Shattered Campaign 

The latest tell-all book on liar-Hillary Clinton's failed campaign, "Shattered: Inside liar-Hillary Clinton's Doomed Campaign," hit bookstore shelves this week. The book, written by lefty reporters Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, reveals the inner workings of what may be best described as a dysfunctional and disjointed campaign. Allen and Parnes, who penned a far more flattering book, "HRC," in 2014, expose a number of early missteps that were never truly addressed and therefore doomed liar-Clinton's election hopes — or so the story goes. One wonders how Allen and Parnes would have described the liar-Clinton campaign had she managed to attract a few more votes in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin... But we digress.

          The book is filled with juicy tales of infighting among leading staff and advisers, an amazing lack of clear communication, and the mind-boggling failure to build a comprehensive and cohesive campaign message. Why was liar-Hillary running, other than because she thought it was her turn to be president? Moreover, like Mitt Romney in 2012, she assumed she had the race won, and thus didn't do the work to actually win it.

          What may be the book's most valuable insight is its exposure of just how awful and petulant a leader liar-Hillary is. In early 2016, for example, she became severely frustrated with her campaign manager, Robby Mook, over his continued second-guessing of her decisions. Instead of firing him or working to come to a clearer understanding of the role he played, she simply stopped speaking to him. And so, from the end of February 2016 to the election, liar-Hillary never spoke directly to her campaign manager. That's astounding.

          While interesting insights and new revelations may be gleaned from the book, it still doesn't change the fact that the Democrat Party nominated a miserable and deeply flawed candidate, and that liar-Hillary lost because of liar-Hillary. And America is better off because of it.

Did Extortion 17 cover-up sink Rep. Chaffetz?

{wnd.com} ~ This week we learned that the ever “media friendly” smiling publicity hound of the House of Representatives, Republican Rep. Jason Chaffetz of Utah, would not run again for his seat next year. Ironically, as Chaffetz announced that he would step down from his seemingly powerful role as chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee – a body that is the investigative “scandal arm” of the House – it was revealed by Circa News that an investigation he had conducted over the tragic shoot down of Extortion 17 was part of an elaborate government cover-up, itself criminal in nature. Had Chaffetz remained as chairman, ironically, his own committee would have had to investigate and likely take action against him. Let me explain.

Extortion 17 was a hastily arranged mission in Afghanistan in 2011 whereby 30 American servicemen, 22 of them special ops, were sent into battle allegedly to kill terrorists and then shot down by the Taliban, with the financial and other assistance of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the complicity of then Afghan President Hamid Karzai, one of the most corrupt politicians in world history. This occurred just three months after Osama bin Laden was allegedly killed. A picture of bin Laden’s body has never been disclosed publicly. Some have speculated that he died before of natural causes and that President liar-nObama claimed credit to further his 2012 election effort. Several brave heroes died tragically on that fateful day, Aug. 6, 2011.

The shoot down of the Extortion 17 mission was payback for America’s having “killed” bin Laden. Karzai’s involvement – whereby it is believed he disclosed the coordinates of this secret mission, allowing the Taliban to shoot down the Chinook helicopter that was carrying our servicemen – was undoubtedly intended to offer up the dead bodies of our heroes in exchange for cash and an agreement by the Taliban not to bring down his corrupt Afghan administration and/or assassinate him.

There remained many mysteries about the Extortion 17 shoot down. First, the liar-nObama administration’s Defense Department’s crash report stated that there were no eyes in the sky over the Chinook helicopter, which generally are intended as a safety measure to warn mission commanders and their troops of danger from the air and on the ground. Next, the crash report stated that a black box that would have revealed the cause or causes of the crash was never found, and instead it washed away in a flood. I have quipped sarcastically that there has not been a flood in this part of the Middle East since Noah’s Ark. To add even more suspicion, the liar-nObama Defense Department revealed that seven Afghan commandos – who were to go on that tragic mission – were substituted out for seven unknown other Afghan commandos at the last minute before taking off. The manifest of the flight, which must be kept under our military’s protocols, never listed who these new commandos were. Last, but hardly least in the anomalies of the crash report, the old and slow Chinook helicopter, of 1960s vintage hovered over the crash site for about 13 minutes, sitting there like a “dead duck” before being shot down by an “RPG” or “MANPADS.”

As a final insult, the bodies of some our heroes were cremated, without the permission or informed consent of their parents, by the liar-nObama Defense Department to cover up the evidence of the causes of their death.

The secretary of defense at the time was one Leon Panetta, a soft-spoken and seemingly likeable man who in reality is a corrupt political hack. I had obtained and uncovered in court during the 1990s, when Panetta was President liar-Clinton’s White House chief of staff, that he had effectively obstructed justice in the Chinagate scandal when he instructed staff to “slow roll” production of incriminating documents to Judicial Watch in my successful case against the Commerce Department over the illegal sale of seats on trade missions in exchange for political contributions.

How can one explain that 30 servicemen, including members of SEAL Team VI, were sent into battle on an old, out-of-date and hellishly slow helicopter and allowed to so easily die at the hands of the Taliban? And, how can it be explained that when many of the victims’ families asked Chairman Chaffetz to conduct a real investigation concerning the causes of the tragedy and who is responsible for it, that the hearing he and his congressional minions eventually held offered no new information. Instead, they refused to allow our clients, Charles Strange, the father of dead NSA cryptologist and support personnel for SEAL Team VI Michael Strange, to testify, as well as prevented the father of National Guardsman Patrick Hamburger, Doug Hamburger, to say his piece.

This week, insight into this cover-up was disclosed by Circa News in an interview with a highly decorated Air Force pilot/targeter, Joni Marquez, who indeed, along with her co-pilot, was flying above the Chinook, as an eye in the sky, that fateful night. Embedded below is that interview of this brave whistleblower who, after years of emotional distress, is risking her career to come forward to tell the truth about the cover-up.

As you can see and hear, Marquez chronicles that Extortion 17 was unnecessarily sacrificed by a corrupt or recklessly incompetent military establishment that did not heed her and her co-pilot’s warnings to have our brave heroes quickly evacuate the eventual crash site when it appeared that the Taliban fighters were regrouping and ready to attack the Chinook. And, because of the liar-nObama Defense Department’s “Rules of Engagement,” the servicemen were not permitted to fire first on the terrorists, but instead had to wait to be fired upon. By then it was too late!

And, this is not just about the Panetta-liar-nObama Defense Department cover-up, but also the cover-up of Chairman Chaffetz in conducting a sham investigation and hearing about the causes of the crash.

Heads will now roll over this deadly outrage, and Rep. Chaffetz was wise to get “out of Dodge” before the “after-blast” from the Taliban’s Extortion 17 fatal attack politically and perhaps criminally takes him and his co-conspirators out as well.

According to the survey, 67 percent of those polled said that the Democratic Party was “out of touch” with common American concerns, and only 28 percent said the party is “in touch.” Six percent said they had no opinion.

These numbers are similar to but worse than those for the Republican Party: 62 percent of those polled said they thought Republicans were out of touch, while 32 percent said they were in touch and seven percent had no opinion. President Trump beat out both his own party and the opposition: 58 percent of those polled consider him out of touch, 38 percent describe him as in-touch, and four percent had no opinion.

The out-of-touch number represents a steep drop for Democrats. In 2014, when the same poll was last taken, 48 percent said Democrats were out of touch, a loss of nineteen percentage points over three years….

On April 21 South Dakota State Attorney General Marty Jackley announced charges of terrorism threats against Ehab Jaber. The Capital Journal reports that the charges represent “a Class 5 felony with a maximum sentence of five years.”

Breitbart  (h/t Calpax) In a Facebook Live video allegedly filmed in a car outside a Christian conference in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the Muslim man identified as Ehab Jaber brandishes numerous guns and warns people to “be scared.”

The Blaze Ehab Jaber is a South Dakota resident who is self-described as being formerly from  Saudi Arabia. According to World Net Daily, Jaber infiltrated the Christian Worldview Weekend conference on April 9 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Sioux Falls, as they were discussing the Islamic persecution of Christians around the world. The event was being attended by around 500 men, women, and children.

Jaber, wearing a shirt that read “I’m American, I’m a Muslim, I open carry, I conceal carry, and I’m dangerous only if you’re stupid,” and carrying a Koran reportedly began disrupting the proceedings and live streaming the conference on his phone.

A retired police officer who was working security for the event confronted Jaber, who told him he was “the Muslim John Smith.” The officer promptly escorted Jaber out of the building.

Jaber went to his car, and still sitting in the parking lot, once more took to Facebook Live where he began complaining about how many people were in attendance. It was then that Jaber asked “ya know, if you want to be really scared?”

Jaber then reached behind him and began displaying various handguns and an AK-47, each time saying “be scared.” Pulling out an extended magazine and an AR-15 he added “be f***ing terrified.”

March 2. In a landmark trial at the Paris Children’s Court, a 17-year-old Turkish jihadist, identified only as Yussuf K., was sentenced to seven years in prison for attacking Benjamin Amsellem, a Jewish teacher in Marseille, with a machete. Yussuf K. said he carried out the January 2016 attack “in the name of Allah and the Islamic State.” He added that he chose his victim because “he was Jewish.” Yussuf K. was charged with “an individual terrorist attempt and attempted assassination in connection with a terrorist enterprise,” with the aggravating circumstance of anti-Semitism. He was tried as a minor because he was 15 when he carried out the attack. The criminal trial of a minor on terror charges was the first of its kind in France, where some fifty children are currently being investigated for jihadist offenses.

March 2. The European Parliament voted to lift the immunity from prosecution for National Front leader Marine Le Pen for tweeting images of Islamic State violence. Under French law, publishing violent images can be punished by up to three years in prison and a fine of €75,000 euros ($79,000). Le Pen, a leading candidate in this year’s French presidential election, posted the images in response to a journalist who compared her party’s anti-immigration stance to the Islamic State. Le Pen denounced the legal proceedings against her as political interference in the campaign and called for a moratorium on judicial investigations until the election period has passed.

March 4. The mayor of the French port of Calais, Natacha Bouchart, signed a decree prohibiting aid groups from distributing meals to migrants and refugees at the site of the former “Jungle” migrant camp. The decree said food distribution by charities had led to large numbers of people gathering at the site of the now-closed camp, with fights breaking out and risks posed to the safety of local residents.

March 6. President François Hollande vowed to “do everything in his power” to prevent Marine Le Pen from winning the upcoming presidential election in France. Polls have suggested that Le Pen, leader of the National Front party, may win the first round of France’s election on April 23. Le Pen, who has campaigned on an anti-immigration platform, has also vowed to hold a referendum on France’s membership of the European Union. Hollande, who decided not to run for a second term, said it was his “ultimate duty to do everything to ensure that France is not convinced by such a plan” to take France out of the EU.

March 7. The 17th Criminal Tribunal of Paris acquitted the Moroccan-born French-Jewish scholar Georges Bensoussan of hate speech charges. The Collective against Islamophobia in France (Collectif Contre l’Islamophobie en France, CCIF) filed a lawsuit against Bensoussan, 64, for “public incitement to discrimination, hatred and violence against a group of people because of their religious affiliation” because of remarks he made on Radio France about Muslim anti-Semitism. He said:

“There will be no integration until we get rid of this atavistic anti-Semitism that is kept secret. It so happens that an Algerian sociologist, Smain Laacher, with great courage said that ‘it is a disgrace to maintain this taboo, namely that in Arab families in France and elsewhere everyone knows that anti-Semitism is spread with the mother’s milk.'”

In its ruling, the court said the plaintiffs failed to prove the charges of hate speech: “Bensoussan cannot be blamed to have aroused or wished to arouse a feeling of hostility or rejection against a group of persons and, even less, to have explicitly called for specific acts against the group.” The judges added that the expression “anti-Semitism, it is sucked with the mother’s milk” is a figure of speech, not the expression of “biological racism.”

March 12. Mohammad Khan Wazir, a 30-year-old migrant from Afghanistan, was sentenced by the Criminal Court of Grasse (Alpes-Maritimes) to 18 months in prison for threatening to assassinate the city’s judges. Wazir was visiting his three-year-old son, named Djihad (the French word for “jihad”), whom judges placed under state care in Grasse, when he allegedly said that he wanted to “go to court with a Kalashnikov to kill them all.” After Wazir left Afghanistan in 2007, he met a French woman named Claire Khacer. The couple separated after the birth of their child in 2013. Khacer, who is pregnant with the child of an Islamic State jihadist, was arrested after returning to France from Syria. She is being held on charges of conspiring to join a terrorist enterprise. In court, Wazir admitted to threatening the judges. He said was he was “overwhelmed” by the slow pace of the French bureaucracy. His French-born son still does not have a French passport.

March 13. Sonia Imloul, a 43-year-old activist and the former head of a deradicalization program, was found guilty by the Paris Criminal Court of embezzling and laundering public funds. She was accused of misusing the €60,000 ($65,000) which the French Interior Ministry gave her association, the House of Prevention and the Families (Maison de la prévention et de la familles), for the purpose of discouraging French Muslims from going to Iraq and Syria. She received a four-month suspended prison sentence and was ordered to pay €25,000. The conviction, which came after Julien Revial, a student employed by Imloul, wrote a book exposing her scam, has highlighted the failure of the French government’s deradicalization efforts.

March 15. Interior Minister Bruno Le Roux said that French security forces would begin dismantling the Grande-Synthe migrant camp on the northern coast near the port of Dunkirk “as soon as possible” after violent clashes at the site. The number of people at the camp has swelled to 1,500 since the destruction of the “Jungle” camp near Calais, about 40 kilometres (25 miles) away. The Grande-Synthe camp, populated mostly by Kurds, was built to house migrants and refugees who otherwise sleep in tents or makeshift shelters. They gather along the northern coast of France trying to break into trucks heading to Britain or trying to pay smugglers to help them get across the Channel.

March 16. An Ifop poll found that 71% of French people believe the security situation in France has deteriorated during the past five years; 93% believe the terrorist threat remains high; 60% said they do not feel safe anywhere in the country; and 69% believe there are not enough police and gendarmes. The poll also found that 88% support deporting foreigners convicted of serious crimes, and 81% support terminating social assistance to parents of repeat offenders.

March 17. A 30-year-old Muslim man yelling “Allahu Akhbar” slit the throats of his father and brother in the courtyard of their apartment building in Paris. Police said the dead men were found lying on the ground in pools of blood. Neighbors said the suspect had recently become radicalized and that his family was not happy about it. Police quickly dismissed terrorism as a motive for the crime; instead, they focused on “double intrafamilial homicide” in the context of “radicalizationThe suspect was arrested and transferred to a psychiatric ward..”

The double standard is in granting these prayer breaks, which essentially establish Muslims as a privileged class, with more breaks than other employees. This push for special breaks is simply an assertion of supremacism. Even in a recent conference whining about alleged “Islamophobia” and smearing those who call attention to jihad terror, one Muslim spokesman acknowledged that prayers can be made up: “One man asked how an employer is to deal with Muslim employees, given their need for prayer, (Dr. Tabasum Hussein, a panelist who joined the Q and A, answered that ‘We don’t stop fire fighting or surgery to pray. We can make it up later.’)”

Amazon may have issued a “declaration of support” in January for a lawsuit against President Trump’s order to put a temporary halt to immigration from seven Muslim-majority countries, but that hasn’t stopped outraged Muslims from planning a May 1 demonstration at the front door of the company’s headquarters in Seattle.

The Service Employees International Union and three Muslim guards who work for Security Industry Specialists, the security contractor Amazon uses to guard its facility, accuse SIS, and by implication Amazon, of refusing to allow the guards space to pray five times daily, even though members of other religions are granted the privilege of using prayer rooms.

Essag Hassan, a former SIS guard at Amazon, said he was let go because of his request to be allowed to pray on his work break.

“I was fired and not given a reason why,” Hassan said. “I’m speaking out for all Muslim security workers and for workers of any religion. When you ask for a space to pray on your work break, that request should be treated with respect.”

The SEIU told PJM “a strongly worded letter” from the “Seattle faith community” would be delivered to Amazon during the rally planned outside the company’s headquarters.

“Unlike other companies in locations with large Muslim populations, Amazon has not supported Muslim service workers requesting space to pray during their law-mandated work breaks,” the SEIU email to PJM said.

“Despite granting the high-earning tech workers conference rooms to pray in, there appears to be a double standard for the contracted security officers who protect the tech giant,” the SEIU email concluded.

The May 1 rally won’t be the first time SEIU and former SIS guards who are Muslim have knocked at Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ front door.

The South Seattle Emerald reported in February “hundreds of devout Muslims, clergy, labor unionists” and even some Amazon workers took part in a prayer rally to demonstrate against SIS policy regarding prayer rooms.

“There’s been issues regarding religious prayers, [with some not being] given a space to practice,” Ismahan Ismail, a security specialist at Amazon, told the South Seattle Emerald. “When I did speak up, I was actually retaliated against. I had someone step on my prayer items.”…

{rickwells.us} ~ Paul Gigot asks former Ambassador to the UN John Bolton if he agrees that there is what appears to be an effort on the part of the Trump administration to focus on the foreign bad actors... who have demonstrated a desire to acquire or a willingness to use weapons of mass destruction. He identified Syria, North Korea and Iran as examples. Bolton replied, “I think that’s accurate and I think that reflects where the President himself is deeply concerned about the proliferation of nuclear weapons and is, as you mentioned in the case of the Syrian regime’s use of chemical weapons, to actually use military force in response. Gaza’s Sole Power Plant Shut Down

Gaza’s Energy Authority said it won’t buy more unless hostile PA authorities exempt it from fuel excise taxes it can’t afford to pay. Under less dire conditions, electricity is severely limited. It’s been reduced from eight to six hours, followed by 12-hour blackouts. Congress Weighing New Sanctions

on Russia, Iran and Syria

Turkey and Trump's Unpredictability

{truthrevolt.org} ~ According to Michael Anton, one of President Donald Trump’s top foreign policy aides, the chief characteristic of Trump’s foreign policy is unpredictability.

On the surface, unpredictability is a great advantage.

Keeping US enemies guessing, at least to some degree, about how the US will respond to hostile acts expands Washington’s maneuver room.

But one of the consequences of Trump’s desire not to be locked into one pattern of behavior is that it is unclear how he thinks about the world, and the many threats facing the US and its allies. As a result, it is difficult to know whether he can be trusted to take the actions necessary to protect American interests and to stand by America’s allies.

Take for instance the administration’s actions this week in relation to the nuclear deal with Iran. On the one hand, on Tuesday the State Department notified Congress that Iran is in compliance with its obligations under the nuclear deal.

On the other hand, on Wednesday Secretary of State Rex Tillerson stood before the cameras and read Iran the riot act. Tillerson set out in detail all of the ways that Iran threatens the US and its allies and many of the reasons that the nuclear deal is a disaster.

He announced that the Trump administration was revisiting US policy on Iran and pledged that Trump will not leave the Iranian threat to his successors.

It is almost impossible to square this circle.

So what is the administration’s policy? Can it be trusted to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons when it certifies that Iran is complying with an agreement it is manifestly breaching, by among other things, blocking inspections of its key nuclear sites and storing uranium in quantities that exceed those permitted under the deal? Then there is Turkey.

After 15 years in power, on Sunday Islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdogan destroyed Turkey’s democracy once and for all. On April 16, 51.4% of Turkish voters voted to accord Erdogan all but absolute power.

Given that this means that Turkey is now effectively indistinguishable from Erdogan, the central question that people should answer before determining whether they are pleased or displeased by the results of Sunday’s referendum is who is Erdogan and what does he want.

Erdogan would say that he is a Muslim. He has made very clear, repeatedly, that he sees no distinction between moderate Islam and radical Islam. Islam is Islam, he says.

Maybe he is right. But in the West, distinctions are made. So it is important to set out what Erdogan means by Islam.

 As George Friedman wrote at Real Clear World earlier this week, for Erdogan, Islam is an all-encompassing worldview. Its precepts dictate human behavior on every level. And it rejects secularism. In Erdogan’s Islam, the secularist belief that there is a distinction between the private and public spheres and that religion is a private matter is inconceivable.

Erdogan’s view is the reason that for nearly a century, Islam – as Erdogan views it – was banned from public life in Turkey.

As Friedman explained, when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk founded modern Turkey after World War I on the ruins of the Ottoman Empire and its caliphate, he recognized that he couldn’t change the way that his people viewed the world.

Rather than reform Islam, Atatürk repressed it. The secular democratic regime he created rested on the coercive power of the military, not on the consent of the governed.

Erdogan’s rise to power, in contrast was predicated on popular support for his anti-secular, Islamic worldview.

To secure that support, Erdogan periodically signaled his intentions.

For instance, as mayor of Istanbul, in 1997 Erdogan recited a poem at a political rally that included the lines, “The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers.”

For doing so, Erdogan was arrested, tried and convicted of inciting religious hatred. He was imprisoned for four months. His party was outlawed and he was banned from politics for life.

For Westerners, the regime’s treatment of the mayor of a major city was inconceivable. All he did was read a poem, after all.

But for the Turkish secularists, the move against Erdogan made perfect sense. The lines he recited were an encapsulation of a plan to undermine the secular regime and replace it with a totalitarian Islamic one.

Due in part to the West’s response to his arrest and conviction, Erdogan has used the US and Europe as allies in his bid to win and consolidate power.

Erdogan’s AK Party first won power in the 2002 parliamentary elections. At the time, the administration of then-president George W. Bush was guided by the neoconservative worldview. Neoconservatives asserted that the yearning for individual freedom is a universal yearning. If given the opportunity to determine their path in life, people worldwide who live under authoritarian regimes, would opt for liberal democracy.

The Bush administration’s belief that liberal democracy is the default aspiration of humanity informed Bush’s demand that Egypt allow Muslim Brotherhood candidates to participate in the 2005 parliamentary elections, and that Israel permit Hamas to participate in the 2006 Palestinian elections.

The view also informed the administration’s decision not to interfere in the Iraqi elections in 2005.

The Bush administration devoutly retained its faith in the universal attraction of liberal democracy even after the Muslim Brotherhood scored extraordinary victories in Egypt, after Hamas won the Palestinian elections, and after the Iraqi government, whose leaders were supported by Iran, began colluding with Tehran.

Bush and his advisers insisted that Hamas would become domesticated once it was forced to contend with constituents demanding that their potholes be filled.

Bush’s notion was that Islamic extremism, jihad and terrorism were reactions to subjugation and repression. If authoritarian regimes would stand back, then the Islamists would eschew violence.

The AKP’s first action after winning in 2002 was to bar US forces from invading Iraq from Turkish territory.

Despite this, the Bush administration embraced Erdogan. For Bush, the AKP government was proof that he was right to view liberal values as universal.

Erdogan and his colleagues proved there is no contradiction between Islam and democracy.

Erdogan used the Bush administration’s support to undermine the secular state. He insisted that all he was doing was promoting pluralism when he undid the military’s control of his government, and brought Islamists into the military, judiciary and governing bureaucracy.

When Turkish military leaders tried to explain to the Americans the dangers to Turkish secular democracy that each of Erdogan’s pro-Islamic reforms constituted, they found that no one would listen. True, Erdogan overdid it. But the Islamists had to be given their day in the sun after all the years they were repressed by the secularists.

Under Barack liar-nObama, the situation changed, slightly. Like Bush, liar-nObama supported Erdogan and the notion that his consolidation of power – and his popularity – was proof that there was no contradiction between Islam and democracy. But whereas Bush believed that Islamic radicalism and jihad were a reaction to domestic repression that would be resolved by democratization, liar-nObama believed that Islamic jihad and radicalism are reactions to Western imperialism.

For liar-nObama, the likes of the Muslim Brotherhood, Iran and Erdogan were more legitimate than their secular opponents, specifically because they opposed the West. As he saw it, their opposition was justified because the West, through colonialism and Cold War geopolitics, repressed them.

In his view, the way to end Islamic jihad and terrorism was to convince the Islamists that the US and the West supported them. liar-nObama believed that Western empowerment of Erdogan, the Muslim Brotherhood, Iran and others would quell their anger and appease their ambitions.

This then brings us to Trump, and his policy toward Turkey. During the campaign, then-candidate Trump congratulated Erdogan after he successfully defeated the military coup before it had the chance to get off the ground. That attempted coup was a last ditch effort to prevent Erdogan from consolidating the dictatorial powers he consolidated on Sunday.

On Monday, Trump again stood with Erdogan.

Trump phoned Erdogan and congratulated him on his victory. Erdogan is expected to pay a state visit to Washington in the coming weeks.

If we understood better how Trump feels about the totalitarian Islam that Erdogan adheres to, we would know better what to make of Trump’s repeated statements of support for the Turkish leader.

Does Trump realize that the more powerful Erdogan has become, the less concerned he has become about how the West perceives him? Does Trump recognize that in recent years Turkey has turned its back on Europe and become a major state sponsor of terrorism? Turkey is Hamas’s most outspoken supporter. Until recently, Turkey served as Islamic State’s mobilization center for foreign recruits and its logistical base. ISIS oil exports went through Turkey. ISIS forces received medical treatment in Turkey. And Turkey became Iran’s conduit to the global economy while it was subjected to UN sanctions for its nuclear program.

Does Trump realize that Turkey opposes the US’s support for the Kurds – the most effective fighting force in the war against ISIS? Does Trump realize that to secure his victory in the referendum, Erdogan has repressed his opponents? Today more than 100,000 regime opponents, including journalists, businessmen, judges, generals and teachers, are imprisoned in Erdogan’s Turkey.

Does Trump know that among those languishing in jail are some of the strongest proponents of the Turkish- US alliance? Was Trump made aware of the fact that Erdogan’s media supporters have called for him to develop nuclear weapons and stop Turkey’s anti-ISIS operations in Syria?

It is possible that Trump knows all of these things and that he recognizes that in the long run and perhaps in the short run as well, US interests are likely irreconcilable with the direction Erdogan is moving Turkey.

Perhaps his congratulatory phone call was simply his only option.

Turkey is still officially a US ally and a member of NATO. Air bases that are key to US operations in Syria are located in Turkey. And Erdogan is the dictator.

Trump may be biding his time until he has the opportunity to weaken Erdogan. Or he may believe that Erdogan is an ally worth having.

Just so, he may have certified Iranian compliance with the nuclear deal to buy time, or he may have certified compliance because he doesn’t feel like stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The question of how Trump views these issues is one that needs to be answered. So long as his basic positions are unknown, it is hard to give him the benefit of the doubt that an unpredictable foreign policy requires.
