The Minnesota Legislative Reference Library listed her birth year as 1981 for her entire time in the state House and into her congressional term.
In May 2019, after a video from a political opponent went viral, her congressional staff contacted the library and requested the year be changed to 1982.
The library director confirmed the request in an email and noted that staff was also working to correct Wikipedia and the Biographical Directory of the United States Congress.
Omar has claimed she received derivative citizenship through her father in 2000 while she was still a minor.
Critics say a 1981 birth year would mean she was already 18 and could not have derived citizenship that way.
