TDS—Trump Derangement Syndrome—takes a dark turn as the final remnants of a failed rebellion plunge into a downward spiral. Democrats have been told they must embrace the ultimate sacrifice to stop Trump’s “existential crisis.’

In a striking moment on ABC’s The View, co-host Sunny Hostin declared that a second Trump presidency represents an “existential crisis” so dire Democrat lawmakers must be willing to “fight and die” to oppose it.

Her impassioned remarks come as tensions mount in the lead-up to the expanded power of President Trump, with the Democrat Party grappling over how to counteract Trump’s influence and policies.

Hostin’s comments were triggered by the recent censure of Rep. Al Green (D-TX) for interrupting Trump’s address to Congress. Ten Democrats sided with Republicans in punishing Green, an act Hostin viewed as a betrayal of the party’s duty to resist Trump’s policies.

“They don’t know how to fight and be part of an opposition party,” she criticized. “Representative Green gave them the example. The Democrats are not meeting the moment.”

She emphasized the importance of the situation by saying, "It is very clear that Medicaid is on the table." It is very clear that Social Security is on the table, yet they cited no proof of any planned cuts or reductions in benefits.

“It is very clear people will die” but refuses to define which people will die! Does she infer Democrats and their ultimate sacrifice or members of Congress who resist the Democrat death oath? Either way, she is calling for the Democrats to deploy their ‘Final Solution’ to solve their perceived enemy, which ultimately is the will of the American people.

The Baby Boomers, the civil rights generation, knew what they had to do. They were prepared to risk their lives to defend their rights. This generation of Congress is not living up to the moment. This is an existential crisis.

Hostin’s comments, while dramatic, reflect a growing belief among some Democrats that the stakes of the Trump administration are beyond mere political rivalry; they represent a fundamental threat to democracy, human rights, and social safety nets.

Some radical voices in the party may interpret her statement literally, viewing Trump’s return to power as warranting the kind of desperate action that has historically been seen in moments of national upheaval as in the case of Imperial Japan during World War II.

Are Democrats ready to embrace self-sacrifice, even acts akin to hara-kiri or kamikaze-style resistance, to stop Trump and the MAGA movement in their efforts to Make America Great Again? I fear the answer may be a resounding ‘YES.’

While that level of extremism has yet to manifest, the seeds have been planted. Hostin’s rhetoric suggests she sees a historical parallel between today’s political battles and past struggles of foreign soldiers fighting the American military who were willing to self-sacrifice to win a battle.

The censure of Rep. Green exposed a significant divide within the Democrat Party—one between those who believe in radical, uncompromising resistance and those who advocate for a more measured, institutional approach. Co-host Ana Navarro attempted to temper Hostin's ferocious rhetoric by reminding viewers that political opposition should uphold civility and order. However, the call has already been made, and the future remains uncertain.

“I like civility in Congress, and I think that when you are in Congress, we are not at a WWE wrestling match,” Navarro said. “This is not the House of Commons. This is the U.S. Capitol.”

Navarro pointed to past Republican opposition to Obama, particularly when Congressman Joe Wilson infamously shouted, “You lie!” during a State of the Union address. Yet, as she noted, today’s atmosphere has escalated far beyond heckling, with a deepening rift in American politics that has some questioning whether democracy itself is at risk.

The larger question remains: how far are Democrats willing to go to stop Trump? Will they take Hostin’s words as a call to action and literally plan for self-sacrifice?  Is Hara Kari and kamikaze politics now on the Democrat agenda?

With Trump’s agenda gaining momentum and legal battles failing to hinder his path, Democrats face an urgent decision on how much they are truly willing to risk to stop him.

Hostin’s challenge is clear: history remembers those who stand and fight, not those who sit idly by. Whether this fight takes the form of legislative battles, mass protests, or more radical and deadly actions, one thing is certain: if Democrats view Trump as an existential crisis, they will need to prove they are ready to meet the moment.

Final Word: Trump received the majority popular vote and the electoral vote, which clearly shows a healthy democratic process, yet those that hold democracy as their banner are now willing to deploy death squads to stop democracy.
