I would go so far as to make the rule for election to any Federal Office that the candidate must be a third generation natural-born American! Of course, this will remove some currently serving Senators and Congressmen from both sides of the aisle from the equation; however, it is better to be safe and make sure you are electing individuals who are loyal, dedicated Americans and who owe absolutely no allegiance to another country!

As far as Ted Cruz is concerned, according to the Jewish religion. If the mother is Jewish then the child is Jewish If the mother was born in the United States then the child is the United States citizen and therefore eligible for Congress or the Senate. The reason being during World War Two during the Holocaust the Nazis constantly raped Jewish women and pregnant them, so that's why if the mother is Jewish then a child is Jewish. It can carry over to the country if the mother is a citizen or if the father is a citizen, either one then the child should be eligible for Congress or any office in the United States States except the President of the United States. I hope this makes sense to all who read this.
The reason they have the rule is because we know for a fact who the mother is.....not necessarily so with the father!
For me this is a very difficult question to answer. However, I will say if the person was not born in the USA and their parents were not citizens of the USA; they should DEFINITELY be excluded.
But are we going to exclude people who were born on a US Military base while one or both of their parents ar serving?
If at least one person is a citizen (which is the case with Ted Cruz. Her mother was a citizen of the USA, but was living in Canada at the time, but she never gave up her US citizenship) I don't have a problem with it.
Congress has yet determined what a 'Natural Born Citizen' is. An NBC in colonial times was protection from the King of England to become President of the United States.
She hadn't filled out a form, 700 or 900, if I remember. I think the R's just made it happen so he could run for POTUS, which he did.
Natural Born Citizens would be preferred but then we'd be stuck with them. Maybe we could deport Ilhan Omar and a few others.
