White House: US Citizens can be killed without due process

Attorney General Eric Holder sent another letter to Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky) denying that the occupant of the Oval Office has authority to use drones to kill American citizens. But the White House is splitting hairs in an effort to play down its belief that the Constitution allows for the president to kill American citizens without due process. One has to understand the fine line the Department of Justice and the White House is walking. Press Secretary Jay Carney played the Constitution against itself at Thursday's White House press briefing. On one hand, he said the president cannot kill American citizens without due process; on the other, he says the president has authority to do so given an imminent threat.

Carney told reporters: "If...the United States were under attack or there were imminent threat, all the same laws that applied to the President's authority apply now, whether it has to do with drones or other modes that you would use to prevent a terrorist attack or an attack like Pearl Harbor, or any other hypothetical that you can imagine. The law is the law, and the Constitution is the Constitution. And I think that's what the Attorney General was saying...The question that Senator Paul asked: Does the President have the authority to use a weaponized drone to kill an American not engaged in combat on American soil? The answer to that question is no."

Perhaps not so obvious is that Carney made a distinction that supports the Justice Department's justification of killing Americans without due process. He is saying that if there were an imminent threat, the Constitution gives the president authority to kill American citizens without due process. Then he said the president does not have the authority to kill an American not engaged in combat. Herein lies the problem: The Justice Department and Attorney General Eric Holder are relying on "an informed, high-level official of the US government" to make the determination whether an American citizen is "an imminent threat." This makes the US government no different than any dictatorial regime seeking to protect its power.

Brothers and sisters, this is serious. It is longstanding US law that the federal government cannot arbitrarily determine who is an enemy and who isn't. It never has been "legal" for "an informed government official" to determine whether a citizen could live or die. This White House says it is legal. All that is required is that a government official believes you to be an imminent threat. Carney's and Holder's explanations fit the end time prophecy of Paul in 2 Timothy 3:13, "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived." This topic would never have risen to the public if not for the Justice Department white paper outlining intent to identify US citizens for assassination. Where there is smoke, there is fire--in this case fire from hell.

Some Communities Consider Mandating Gun Ownership

AUGUSTA, Maine -- A town of 140 people in the U.S. state of Maine is considering an ordinance making gun ownership mandatory, the latest of a handful of communities nationwide to pass or consider such a rule even though the measures are widely considered unenforceable.
Communities from Idaho to Georgia have been inspired to "require" or recommend their residents arm themselves ever since a gunman killed 26 youngsters and educators Dec. 14 in a school in Newtown, Connecticut, and raised fears among gun owners about an impending restriction on Second Amendment rights.
Although it is only a handful of communities these measures reflect a growing divide in the U.S. between those like President Barack Obama who believe guns need to be more strictly regulated and supporters of the powerful gun lobby the National Rifle Association, which maintains that more guns keep people safer.
While generally more liberal states with large urban centers like New York and California lawmakers have been introducing more stringent gun control laws, more conservative, rural areas have been going in the opposite direction.
South Dakota on Friday passed a law allowing teachers and other personnel to carry firearms in the state's schools, the first of its kind since the Connecticut school shooting.
Backed by gun rights supporters, the Maine ordinance is intended to pre-emptively block gun-control laws, Maine Attorney General Janet Mills said, adding that it will be "null and void" even if it passes. It is pre-empted by a 2011 state law that bars municipalities from adopting firearm regulations.
"I think the town is going to have to shoot it down," Mills said Friday.
That's what happened this week in Sabattus, another town in Maine, where the selectmen took the police chief's advice and voted not to send a similar proposal to voters. David Marsters, a retiree in Sabbatus, had proposed the ordinance, saying it would act as a hedge against crime.
The idea has also caught on in Nelson, a city of just over 1,300 north of downtown Atlanta, Georgia where supporters of the gun-ownership proposal say light police patrols leave city residents virtually unprotected for most of the day.
The proposal contains several exemptions for people who object to owning firearms because of personal beliefs, religious reasons or mental disability. In a statement, Mayor Pro Tem Jonathan Bishop said convicted felons would also be exempted.
"I am in no way attempting to face off with the federal government, only doing what an elected official is supposed to do," Councilman Duane Cronic, who proposed the ordinance, said in an email Friday. The rule passed unanimously on its first reading and awaits a final vote April 1.
In Kennesaw, Georgia., city officials worried at the time of a similar law's passage in 1982 that population growth in nearby Atlanta might bring crime to the community, which now has about 30,000 people.
"They wanted to send an anti-crime message, also," Graydon said. And it has worked, he argued, with crime staying low.
Graydon acknowledged Kennesaw's ordinance is "unenforceable" and said no attempt has ever been made to do so.
Some communities don't go so far as to call for required gun ownership.
Spring City, Utah, moved forward with an ordinance this year "recommending" the idea of keeping firearms. Other ordinances have been passed in Virgin, Utah, and Cherry Tree, Pennsylvania, largely as symbolic gestures.
A southwestern Idaho town of 900 people, Greenleaf, adopted an ordinance in 2006 that encourages residents who don't object on religious or other reasons to keep a gun in the house and to seek training on using firearms. City officials said they don't know how many residents own guns.
In Maine, Byron's Simmons-Edmunds said that probably 90 percent of the households in town already have a gun and that passage would not mean the town would enforce it by checking every household.
"We not going to invade anybody's privacy," Byron's Simmons-Edmunds said. "We just want to send a statement that we're not going to give up our guns."

He won. And since then he’s been at the front of a movement that
highlights the responsibility of local sheriffs.
Now, as Washington gears up to consider imperious plans to limit guns,
require fingerprinting and registration, impose additional taxes and
fees, ban particular features or functions outright, and even confiscate
weapons of self-defense, Mack has told WND that there’s hope remaining
in local law enforcement.
It’s not complicated, he said.
“Gun control is illegal and it’s against the Constitution,” he said.
“What people don’t realize is that the Second Amendment was designed
to protect us from the power of the federal government.”
He said he would expect sheriffs across the country to defend the rights
of ordinary Americans.
“I hope and pray America’s sheriffs won’t allow any more gun
control,” Mack said. “The sheriffs need to be united in letting the
federal government know that we’re not going to allow it.
“In the ’90s when I was the sheriff of Graham County, Ariz., we worked
with other sheriffs and stopped two or three Brady Bills,” he recalled,
a fight that he’s been detailing in seminars with sheriffs.
He said the office is critical, as it’s not only in law enforcement,
but also is elected directly by the people.
“Out of 200 sheriffs with whom I’ve met, I’ve only had one give me a
wishy-washy answer. That one said he would try to take the federal
government to court,” Mack said. “Most of them have said they would
lay down their lives first rather than allow any more federal control.
They also said they would do everything they could to stop gun control
and gun confiscation.”

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service sent three armed agents to serve a
warrant. Lemhi County Sheriff Brett Barslou said that was
‘inappropriate, heavy-handed and dangerously close to excessive
force.’ More than 500 people turned out for a rally in the small towns
of Challis and Salmon to support the sheriff and the rancher and to tell
the federal government to back off.”
Mack, who’s written “The Magic of Gun Control,” said if there is an
actual specific plan to start taking Americans’ weapons, he expects a
response.
“If the federal government wants to start a new Civil War, all they
need to do is go ahead with gun confiscation,” Mack said.

“We are not going to back down. We are not going to give in. And we are
not going to concede one more inch,” Knox said.
He was responding to questions about America’s response to plans like
those from Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., to demand gun registration,
bans and fingerprinting in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shooting in
Connecticut.
“Unfortunately, the president and other anti-rights politicians are not
doing anything to keep what happened at Sandy Hook Elementary from
happening again,” he said. “Instead they are going after law-abiding
gun owners and targeting commonly owned firearms and ammunition feeding
devices. Their proposed restrictions on these items would have had no
impact on what happened at Sandy Hook, and, if passed, would not stop
the next craven murderer from wreaking just as much havoc and
destruction.”
Gun Owners of America Executive Director Larry Pratt shared Mack’s
opinion.
“The county sheriffs need to act and make new deputies to stop federal
authority in the counties,” Pratt told WND. “This is a defensible
idea. He can deputize people to serve since they are the ones who voted
for him to represent them. A lot of citizens would stand up for their
Second Amendment rights if they were protected by the sheriff.”
He cited a move that already is surging among states to adopt laws and
use the Tenth Amendment to curb federal activity. The Tenth Amendment
simply reserves to the states and the people all responsibilities not
specifically assigned to Washington in the Constitution.
Pratt noted the move that over the past few years has seen eight states
adopt laws that exempt firearms made, sold and kept in the state from
federal oversight. The federal government has taken the issue to court,
where it remains at this point.
“A number of states are passing laws that use the Tenth Amendment to
curb federal control. Their law says that if a gun is made in the state
and sold in the state, that the federal government has no control over
it,” Pratt said.
He provided additional examples of what already has resulted from
sheriffs’ disputes with the feds.
“In Elkhart County, Indiana, there was a farmer who produced raw milk.
The Department of Justice was investigating the farmer and was trying to
shut down the farm,” Pratt said. “Elkhart County Sheriff Brad Rogers

“Rogers said that if they didn’t leave, he would arrest them. The DoJ
threatened to arrest him, but Rogers sent his deputies to defend the
farmer,” Pratt said. “The feds have had to back off.”
He also said local officials in New Mexico burned trees from a small
parcel of federal land in order to halt a raging forest fire.
“The sheriff is the chief officer in the county even on federal land if
the land is in the county,” Pratt said.

attitude,” Mack said. He said Congress and Obama simply are loading
their political agenda onto the backs of the victims of Sandy hook.
He said gun control through history produces one result: “Genocide.”
Pratt warned that Washington’s strategy will accomplish nothing but
creating vast new ranks of felons in America.
“A lot of Americans spend an awful lot of money on these guns. I don’t
think there will be very many who will willingly accept $200 for a gun
that they paid $500 to $1,000 for,” Pratt said.
The last two major gun rights cases that went before the U.S. Supreme
Court were decided in favor of gun rights, and as a followup the Second

the right to arm themselves in defense of hearth and home, striking at
the very core of the Second Amendment.”
“When SAF attorney Alan Gura won the Heller case at the Supreme
Court,” noted SAF Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, “the gun
ban crowd said that we were a ‘one-trick-pony’ and that we would never
knock out another gun law. Well, SAF has now knocked out gun laws in
Maryland, Illinois and North Carolina.”

The Second Amendment clearly proclaims that the people have a right to own guns and in the Bill of Rights, the government is prohibited from infringing on the right of the people to own guns if they choose to do so. The Supreme Court has ruled that the Federal government has no lawful jurisdiction in the counties and that when a Sheriff chooses to enforce an unconstitutional directive, he is violating his Constitutional Oath.

Yes folks the preserved and inherent word the Holy Bible is without doubt, controversy or question whatsoever the most important informational and educational manual/document a truly saved by grace born again Bible believing and practicing individual can ever posses!!! Our right to carry, study, practice, and follow the true word of the Most High Holy and Righteous Almighty God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost is the highest achievement a person can posses in this life. This wonderful nation founded as Christian Constitutional Republic was established to protect Almighty God given rights. While all our founding fathers were not all born again: you know? Those that had believed with their whole heart, being, mind, and soul, confessed and repented turning from their sins, and calling on the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, trusting in His shed blood for their eternal salvation; all were educated by the preserved and inherent word the Holy Bible. Our founding documents both state and national comprising of the Constitutions, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Rights were based on the Holy Bible and the Ten Commandments. As Christian Americans we have two basic responsibilities: One of course is to take the Saving Gospel into all the world, and today without argument this includes our own beloved country our neighbors. And two is to oppose evil in the church, government, and society (We the People). It is a very sad commentary that the churches of the Living God have for the most part been extremely remiss in opposing evil!!! This preacher believes without the shadow of any doubt whatsoever that the demise of Virtue, Liberty, and Independence has been brought about by the changing of our Christian Constitutional Republic, which is government by Almighty God's established law- into a Democracy, which is government based on the ever changing whims of the majority: "THOU SHALT NOT FOLLOW A MULTITUDE TO DO EVIL;” Exodus 23: 2(a). Our precious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ commanded us to: "IF YOU LOVE ME KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS"!!!!! When the Apostles of the Lord and Saviour were commanded by the government authorities after jailing (yes Jesus Christ and his apostles were jailbirds, most suffered capitol punishment-murdered-for righteousness sake). After being flogged they were commanded not to "speak in the name of Jesus Christ"!!! What did they do? "Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, WE OUGHT TO OBEY GOD RATHER THAN MEN." Acts 5 : 29. They most certainly refused to obey those governmental authorities; and of course they did not shake with fear and hide themselves. They were not ashamed of the Saving Gospel and opposition to evil. "And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." Acts 5 : 42. We must protect our God given Rights. The very first Article of the Bill of Rights of the Constitution of these United States of America outlines the responsibility of government which is to protect the rights of ALL citizens assures and guarantees that: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion(no State Church), or prohibiting the free exercise(the public pronouncement of the saving gospel of Jesus Christ, and opposition to evil) thereof, or the abridging the freedom of speech(public proclamation), or the press....." Just before our Revolutionary war for Virtue (moral excellence), Liberty (only Christ Jesus can set us free), and Independence (separation from the world, and the commission to take our form of government into all the world). Preachers like John Witherspoon, Samuel Davies along with numerous others were persecuted for preaching the Saving Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ without a license from the English Crown, the Monarch is the head of the Anglican Church. Today we are aware of course and without the slightest controversy whatsoever that Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the only head of His churches. All churches in these United States of America are separate from ALL government control and interference of any kind whatsoever!!!! Our Christian Constitutional Republic (please understand this has absolutely nothing to do with political parties) are totally tax immune, not taxable (who would dare to tax Almighty God's church, or His Holy Bible???). This was true until January 1, 1984 when un-Constitutional and therefore illegal unlawful legislation that cannot be enforced except by criminal action of out of control government. This is "law" which is a throw back to King George and taxation without representation. Come on now preacher? We have representatives in congress. Yes, you are very right we do have representatives in our government, but neither Almighty God nor His churches are represented. But this anti-Church law is a provision that illegally, unlawfully, and un-Constitutionally forces churches to withhold a certain percentage in Federal Insurance Contributions Act. Twenty years latter we witness government intruding into the affairs of the true church of the Most High, Holy, and Righteous Almighty God forcing churches to submit to "Public Policy", which is aborticide, homosexual "rights" unbelievably promoting same sex marriage. The churches are being forced to be "Politically Correct" which of course is most assuredly anti-God, Anti-Christ, Anti-Church, and Anti Holy Bible (Ten Commandments). Folks, our nation and our churches must be transformed. We must each and every one of us REPENT and return to the Almighty God of the Holy Bible, and reclaim the individual rights of our Constitutions, and Declaration of Independence. We must be transformed into real Americans. Many wrongly (fatally) think that they are Christians because they were born in America. Our precious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ said we must be Born Again or we cannot enter His Kingdom. So Repentance and Transformation is the order of the day. Or we will continue to slide into the darkness; the presence of evil is evident in every aspect of our society; and so very sadly in most churches. Government, with the Churches silence- no opposition- is approval! We are now and have witnessed "Rogue" government agencies unlawfully performing domestic violence, padlocking, stealing, and burning churches, confiscating parsonages and property of the Lord's House. Way back in the year of 1933 the President of these United States of America tried his very best to tax churches! So very fortunate for the churches of the Living God, the Congress of these United States of America were almost without exception opposed to "Taxing God". This sadly is not true today where we tax Holy Bibles without even a blink of the eye!!!!!! We witness the so called church opposing the true believer that is standing for the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We even see the church of the Most High, Holy, and Righteous God under the headship a government agency. Since the time of Ancient Israel, it has never been lawful to impose toll (taxes), tribute (social security), custom (tax exemption in place of tax free) on the ministers of the untaxable House of God: "ALSO WE CERTIFY YOU, THAT TOUCHING ANY OF THE PRIESTS AND LEVITES, SINGERS, PORTERS, NETHINIMS OR MINISTERS OF THIS HOUSE OF GOD, IT SHALL NOT BE LAWFUL TO IMPOSE TOLL, TRIBUTE, OR CUSTOM, UPON THEM." Ezra 7: 24. Hands completely off of the House of Almighty God Jehovah and His ministers!!! Well folks, so very sad is the fact that by the year of our Lord 1951 the Congress of these United States of America unlawfully- anything that usurps any right is un-Constitutional and therefore un-enforceable-decided to impose a "voluntary" tax on the Most High God, His churches, and His ministers!!!! Fifty years after the failed attempt to Tax Almighty God and His House it has become mandatory. Mandatory Compliance is the byword of Despotism and Tyranny. "Men must be governed by God or they will be ruled by tyrants." William Penn the founder of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. LAW OF THE LAND: "The general misconception is that any statute passed by legislators bearing the appearance of law constitutes the law of the land. The Constitution of these United States of America is the law of the land, and any statute to be valid must be in agreement. It is impossible for a law which violates the Constitution to be valid. This is succinctly stated as follows. ALL LAWS WHICH ARE REPUGANT TO THE CONSTITUTION ARE NULL AND VOID." Maybury vs. Madison 5 US(eCranc) 137, 174, 176, (1803). The chairman of the Finance Committee way back in 1983 invited church leaders to attend hearings to determine their thoughts and feelings concerning the Lord's church paying tribute and custom to the government. Dr. Greg Dixon whose church, school, college, and parsonage were illegally seized -yes were stolen- by "Rogue" agencies of government federal, state, and yes local. Dr. Dixon remembers quite clearly a coordinator of the staff initially addressing the group of preachers present with the question: "What compromises concerning church taxation have you brought?" The stunned clergy that were present remained so very silent. But, praise the Lord, Dr. Dixon rose and courageously said: "WE HAVE NOTHING TO OFFER IN COMPROMISE." Dr. Dixon knew way back then that the power to tax is the power to destroy. Government control in any manner is to deny the sovereignty of the Lord's churches. The church must not nor can it finance the government through taxation, nor is the government to finance the churches through "Tax Exemption", which is a privilege not a right. A privilege can be taken away, a right is inalienable. Churches that are under the supreme and only authority of Almighty God are not, nor can they be represented in government, so therefore by right are un-taxable-tax free. This preacher along with others is on social security. But the church of the Living God as already stated is not to finance government, neither is the government to finance the church. So the church must have nothing to do with state or federal Tax Identification Numbers, and must never produce revenue for the government by paying taxes to help assure the solvency of the Social Security Trust Funds (which have been misappropriated-stolen by government for other purposes). The church of the Living God is an organism, and not an organization, nor does the church have employers and employees) are not open and answerable to the government, to inspection or dictates of the state!!!! Churches therefore cannot be required to be agents of the state by collecting, confiscating, and remitting to the state money that has already been taxed and freely given to the Most High, Holy, and Righteous Almighty God through tithes and offerings of God's children. Ministers of Almighty God are not employees, and churches cannot be servants of the state by keeping records for the state. We are just witnessing the coming persecution of the true believer, because the State church is established when the door is open to any control by government. The churches of the Most High, Holy, and Righteous Almighty God cannot be incorporated!!! The churches of the Living God cannot have EIN (employee identification number)!!! Endless impositions: "GOD IS SOVEREIGN; HE CANNOT BE TAXED. Well folks, the day has arrived, it is way after midnight, and so very sad is the undeniable fact that the churches of the Living God have led the way to perdition, proudly displaying the National Banner over and above the Cross of the Banner of Jesus Christ: this includes every true member of the church that goes along to get along with evil government. All government without Almighty God is absolutely and totally evil. Way back in the early 1970's a well known Evangelist predicted: "I predict that the final oppression of Christianity will start with taxation of independent churches, and missionary associations, thereby casting a shadow upon their integrity and raising doubts in the minds of their contributors. THE GOVERNMENT WILL HAUL MINISTERS OF THE GOSPEL INTO COURT ON ALLEGED TAX IRREGULARITIES AND CHALLENGE MINISTERIAL AUTHORITY OF INDEPENDENT MINISTERS- EVENTUALLY THE MINISTERS OF ALL CHRISTIAN CHURCHES. The government will get rid of independent ministers, churches and associations and a State church will be set up." History is repeating itself!!! A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL PEOPLE

THE HOLY BIBLE

We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of 66 books of the Old and New Testaments,

ALMIGHTY GOD

OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR JESUS CHRIST

We believe Jesus Christ is the true God, and true man, He is fully Divine and
also fully human, He preexisted eternally with the Father. Was conceived of The
Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary, lived a perfect sinless life, and
died(Rose Again) substitutionary(DEATH/BURIAL/RESURECTION) for the sins of
mankind. He arose bodily from the grave, ascended to Heaven. He is the High
Priest, and only Advocate for His people. He will return personally and bodily
to earth. He is the world's only Saviour. I Corinthians 8:4, I Corinthians
15:1-10, John 1:1, Mathew 1:23-25, Genesis 1:1, Colossians 1: l6-17, Mathew
28-19, John 14:3, Acts 4:12, I Timothy 2:6, John 14:6, Hebrews 4:14-16, Romans

THE HOLY GHOST

We believe that the Holy Ghost is a Divine Person of the Godhead(Trinity). He is
sent from The Father by The Son to convict the world, to regenerate(repent), and
to indwell those who trust in Christ Jesus, to baptize them into the Body of
Christ, to seal them to the day of Redemption, to guide them into Truth, to fill
them for a life of Holiness, and Victory. To empower the Redeemed for/to witness
and service. He gives spiritual gifts to believers for the proper functioning in
the Body of Christ, which is the Church. Acts 1:8-16, Ephesians 1:13-14, I
Corinthians 2:9-12, I Corinthians 3:16, I Corinthians 12:3-13 & 27-31.

MAN

We believe that mankind was created by Almighty God, in His own image, and is
therefore accountable to his Creator. It was through sinful rebellion that the
first man fell from his original state of moral perfection. Because of this he
brought upon himself, and the whole human race the penalty for sin, which is
spiritual and physical death. Since Adam every person is born with an inherently
sinful natured, and therefore is a sinner in deed, though, and word. Every
person individually, therefore, stands under the just condemnation of Almighty
God; and is unable to save himself, or to present deeds(works) worthy of any
merit whatsoever before the Creator. Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:7, Mathew
5:20-48, John 3:36, Romans 2:6-16, Romans 5:12-21, Romans 6:23

SALVATION

We believe that a person is Saved by Almighty God's Grace alone, made possible
by the Shed Blood of Jesus Christ(we must believe in a Virgin Birth, Sinless
life, and the Death, Burial and Resurrection), and through faith realize that we
are sinners, then call on the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ trusting
in His Shed Blood for the remission of our sins, and Eternal Life. The Holy
Ghost then witness of our spirit that we are His children. The promises of this
Salvation include the forgiveness of sins, a new standing before Almighty God;
the impartation of new life, and all the Blessings that accompany a wonderful
family relationship Our Father, Which Art In Heaven. The assurance of Salvation
is the Blessed Hope of every true believer in Christ Jesus. Acts, 3:19, Acts
4:12 Acts 16: 31, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:28, Romans 10:9-13, John 1:12, John

CHRISTIAN WALK

We believe that Almighty God expects every true believer to live a holy and
consecrated life of obedience, in which every area is brought under the Lordship
of Jesus Christ, and the fruit of The Holy Ghost becomes increasingly evident in
their lives. The goal of the Christian life is to be conformed to the very image
of Christ Jesus. This image is unfolded by self-giving and love for Almighty
God, our neighbors, our enemies, and one another(The Church. The life and
character of Jesus Christ, which grows through the Holy Ghost, is a very
noticeable difference from the life of this world. And true Christians will
suffer persecution. A believer who resist the gracious working of the Holy
Ghost, and therefore fails to grow in obedience will be chastened in infinite
love by their Heavenly Father, they can learn Holy and Consecrated obedience to
the word of Almighty God. If not please examine yourself, that you personally
are in the faith once delivered unto the Saints! John 14:2l, 1 John 2:l5-17,
Galatians 5:22-23, II Corinthians 3:17-18, II Corinthians 10: 4-5, Mathew

THE CHURCH(THE HOUSE OF ALMIGHTY GOD, A PLACE OF PRAYER FOR ALL PEOPLE)

We believe that the Church of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the Universal
company of Almighty God's redeemed people, His Body, of which He is the Head,
His Bride, whom He loves infinitely, and Hid Temple, in which He dwells. This
Universal Body of Jesus Christ is visibly expressed in local assemblies, whose
purpose is to Glorify Almighty God through fellowship, worship, instruction in
Almighty God's preserved word, observing all the ordinances, and Biblical
teaching in service to the world. The most important task for His Church is to
make disciples for Christ Jesus, in all nations through the proclamation and
teaching of the Saving Gospel. And the Church must show its love and compassion
of the Redeemer of mankind through word and deed to an alienated world. The
Church of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ builds people. The Church is about
people, and therefore can not be connected to any area of government. It the
Church is an Organism. It cannot be a corporation, or tax exempt organization.
The Church therefore is a Free Church. Ephesians 1:22-23, Ephesians 2:19-25,
Ephesians 3: 6-10,Ephesians 4:11-13, Ephesians 5: 19-27, Matthew 26:26-29,

THE PASTOR

Must be born again, saved by Grace, anointed, called and sent by the Holy Ghost.
He must preach and teach from the preserved word, the Holy Bible. The Pastor
must be the husband of one wife. He must truly place Almighty God(The Father,
The Son, and The Holy Ghost) first and foremost in his actions, and his very
life. His Head and Cornerstone is the Redeemer of "{ALL}" mankind our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ.- Women are of great value to the Church of our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ, and must be used according to the gifts given them. (What
about Galatians 3:28 this verse pertains to Salvation. I Corinthians ll:3?)-

THE LAST DAYS

We believe in the personal and visible return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ to the earth, and the establishment of His Kingdom. We believe in the
resurrection of the body of Christ Jesus(individual to be judged at the Judgment
Seat Of Christ), and the final Judgment at the White Throne Judgment(the final
judgment for the eternal joy of the righteous, and endless suffering of the
wicked. II Corinthians 4:1-14,5:1-11, Luke 16:22-25, I Thessalonians 4:16-18,
Revelation 22:1-21.

SATAN AND HELL

We believe in the personality of Satan, the prince and power of this world, and
his ultimate defeat by our Precious Lord the Redeemer of mankind Jesus Christ.
We believe in a literal Hell, a place prepared for Satan, his devils, and his
human followers. - Matthew 25:41, I Peter 5:6-11, Ephesians 2:1-10,

CREATION

We believe Almighty God(The Father, The Son, and The Holy Ghost), Which Art In
Heaven. Created the Universe and the Planet Earth as a beautiful habitation for
mankind. This special creation was given to humankind to have dominion over.

Is it quite evident that those that worship at the feet of the governing class, believe that only the governing class should possess the means of defending themselves?                Is it quite evident that those that are committed to complete government control, are also most likely the ones who have made a life depending on others?                                   Is it quite evident that those that have become dependent on the governing class or others, to provide all of life’s essentials, also believe it is someone else’s job to protect them? The day that we as an individual, or WE as a society, accepted the notion that some one else could or would care for US better than we can care for ourselves, is the day WE became slaves.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       As of the most recent election cycle it has become abundantly evident that a majority, or at least a majority of those that voted, have accepted and clamor for more government care and security. A majority believe someone else should be paying for and providing all of life’s essentials, including protection.                                                                  When rather than lose our pittance from the government, we would allow Christmas and other Christian values to be diminished and taken from public view,                           When WE allow the distribution of condoms in school but no prayer ,                                                                                                                                                                      When we would allow our governing class to provide for themselves that which they won’t allow us,                                                                                                                   When we would allow the trampling of OUR Constitution by those who have sworn an oath to uphold it,                                                                                                                WE are all ready slaves, and being herded like sheep wherever the powers decide we should go.                                                                                                                     “None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free”   Von Goethe
With the recent rash of gun related violence that has transpired around the country, in the month since the reelection of the “pied piper”, I expect to hear a chorus of anti-gun rhetoric. The shadow government, in their efforts to fully promote Marxists principles will certainly use these events to further augment the efforts being forwarded through the united (socialist) nations, to attack gun ownership and OUR Constitutional guarantees. Furthermore, an open assault on all holdouts of traditional values on which OUR country was founded is underway. The justification of the criminal union activities in Lansing, the continued escalation of the war on Christian values and Christmas in particular, the push to create amnesty, the out of control job crushing, personal liberty ending regulations of the EPA, IRS and other unconstitutional agencies, are just a hint of that which is coming. WE have found ourselves in a country where the majority are either dependent on, or believe in government intrusion and or control in all aspects of OUR lives. The push toward collapsing the U.S. dollar as the world reserve currency, through grossly out of control spending, and pretentiously bogus smoke screens to disguise the true financial catastrophe we as a nation are facing, further illuminate the end of freedom in America.

How often have you heard people refer to America as a Democracy? When was the last time that you heard America referred to as a Republic? There is a very good reason that our Pledge of Allegiance refers to our country as a Republic and there is a very good reason that our Declaration of Independence and our constitution do not even mentioned the word "democracy".

Many people are under the false impression our form of government is a democracy, or representative democracy. This is of course completely untrue. The Founders were extremely knowledgeable about the issue of democracy and feared a democracy as much as a monarchy. They understood that the only entity that can take away the people's freedom is their own government, either by being too weak to protect them from external threats or by becoming too powerful and taking over every aspect of life.

They knew very well the meaning of the word "democracy", and the history of democracies; and they were deliberately doing everything in their power to prevent having a democracy.

In a Republic, the sovereignty resides with the people themselves. In a Republic, one may act on his own or through his representatives when he chooses to solve a problem. The people have no obligation to the government; instead, the government is a servant of the people, and obliged to its owner, We the People. Many politicians have lost sight of that fact.

A Constitutional Republic has some similarities to democracy in that it uses democratic processes to elect representatives and pass new laws, etc. The critical difference lies in the fact that a Constitutional Republic has a Constitution that limits the powers of the government. It also spells out how the government is structured, creating checks on its power and balancing power between the different branches.

The goal of a Constitutional Republic was to avoid the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy but what exists in America today is a far cry from the Constitutional Republic our forefathers brought forth.

Today we have DO have a mobocracy occurring in our streets all across America. Sadly, such mobocracy or 'mob rule' was endorsed and encouraged by Sen. John McCain who praised the recent wave of pro-illegal immigration demonstrations by saying . . . "if the protesters hang tough they will succeed in forcing Congress to liberalize immigration laws. If such demonstrations continue, I think we will have a bill for the President to sign soon . . . The more debate, the more demonstrations, the more likely we will prevail.' He was of course referring to the Senate's massive illegal-alien amnesty bill S. 2611 which did in fact, pass. Was S. 2611 passed to appease the mob? If so, it is a perfect example of rule by mobocracy!

Article IV Section 4 of the Constitution states: "The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion . . .

Not only is our Constitution being ignored, the exact OPPOSITE is being encourage by John McCain and seconded by ALL those who voted for S. 2611 in the Senate. If you want to preserve the Constitutional Republic you should vote out of office . . . every single senator that voted for S. 2611.

PLEASE PRAY THAT ALMIGHTY GOD WILL SAVE AMERICA!!!!!!!

A FAMILY OF VETERANS

This preacher was born on Easter Sunday, 1939, his father was on active duty as an Enlisted Man in the Regular Army of these United States of America. Due to tragic circumstances the young baby was “nursed” for a short while by American Soldiers on the Niagara River. The beloved Father of this preacher was on active duty a few years before the war to save “Democracy”; He later earned a Commission in the Regular Army, and married an Army Nurse who became my deeply beloved Mother

As an Army Officer my father served in the Black Panther Division that hit the beaches in Normandy, France June 6, 1944; and was awarded two Bronze Stars and Combat Infantry Badge W/C for action in combat. He served in the Constabulary during the dangerous years of occupation in the former Nazi Germany. Clearance Top Secret.

This preacher as a young Army Brat first became aware of the Horrors of war at the tender age of seven years, when he could not understand why all the buildings were down as a dependent in Germany. My father made the United States Army his major career as a Professional Soldier retiring in 1957 with the Rank of Major. He was a Life Member of the American Legion. Not content with retirement he served as a parole officer for the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He also became a Commander in the Auxiliary Coast Guard. He along with my mother and a son(active duty), rest in the National Cemetery Annville, Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. Along with many dear departed Veteran neighbors, friends, and acquaintances.

My brother served on active duty in Vietnam as an enlisted man in the United States Army. He became a Non-Commissioned Officer in the field of State Corrections(Para-military). At the present time he has a commission in Security. Clearance Top Secret.

My son served on active duty with the United States Army, and later with National Guard. Another son served in the United States Army and was accidentally killed while on active duty (now with the Lord his body waiting the great resurrection) . My youngest son served on active duty with the United States Marine Corps.

My wife’s father was in the United States Marine Corps, and the United States Army during the War Years. Her brother also served in the United States Army.

This preacher served as an Enlisted Person in the United States Air Force security service during the Vietnam years, and "the Cuban Crisis.” Top Secret Security Clearance. Is a life member of the American Legion. Served as a Non-Commissioned Officer in Para-military County and State Corrections. Retired and was commissioned for life in the Lord’s Army serving as Lead (Colonel-non-Federal) Chaplain of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Citizen’s Militia (Bucktails), and Chief Chaplain(Full Colonel-non-Federal) Full Colonel-non-Federal Colonial Marines(National). Very recently with my return to physical and mental health, I returned to the Unorganized Pennsylvania Militia with my previous rank. At the present I am ordained a Chaplain of Christ Celtic Anabaptist Communion, Archbishop of Chaplains Celtic Anabaptist Communion, House of Bishops Christian Missionary Anglican Communion; CMAC(Europe, Germany, China, Japan, Haiti,etc.) American Anglican Council, Pennsylvania Chaplain’s Corps(CMAC) Saint Philip Neri Christian Catholic Archdiocese Archbishop Certificate Of Recognition signed by the Secretary Of Defense D.R. The Emergency Medical Chaplains Association, Patriot Riders; Regimental Chaplain United Kingdoms Chaplains Corp, on active duty for our Supreme Commander our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ-a soldier of Almighty God: The United States Corps Of Chaplains(For and To) Society Of The Cross, Professed Bishop Ordaining Pennsylvania, Western New York, and Eastern Ohio. When soldiers became believers they were told by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to be “satisfied with their wages(???).” And the jailer was born again and saved along with all of his family. “AND THE ARMIES WHICH WERE IN HEAVEN FOLLOWED HIM UPON WHITE HORSES, CLOTHED IN FINE LINEN, WHITE AND CLEAN. AND OUT OF HIS MOUTH GOETH A SHARP SWORD, THAT WITH IT HE SHOULD SMITE THE NATIONS: AND HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON: AND HE TREADETH THE WINEPRESS OF THE FIERCENESS AND WRATH OF ALMIGHTY GOD.”(!!!!?????) Revelation 19 : 14-15.

Folks, please understand that no one despises war more than the military - all branches. So we must salute and honor those veterans of all services, Reserves, National Guard, and unpaid volunteers self armed Home Guard(Militia being necessary to the security of a Free State)-Law Enforcement, EMS, Jailers, Fire Fighters, and Town Watchers especially in these United States of America a Christian Constitutional Republic a “Nation under God”.

“THOU therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Enlistment in The Lords Army is very simple for one must accept the Free Gift of Grace offered to “WHOSOEVER(all races, tongues, all inclusive-everyone)” by believing with their whole heart, body, soul, and very being, and through faith repent by remorsefully confessing and turning from their sins, calling only on the Precious and Holy Name of Jesus Christ(THE ONLY NAME WHEREBY WE MUST BE SAVED), trusting entirely in His Shed Blood for the remission of our sins and eternal life in heaven. Therefore becoming New Creatures, Children of Almighty God, saints and members of His Army of churches. The Holy Spirit(Comforter) of Almighty God takes residence within us making us the His very Tabernacle through the “Baptizm of the Holy Ghost”! His Holy Spirit(Comforter-Holy Ghost) then will witness to our spirit that we are Born Again on our way to that Heavenly and Holy City the New Jerusalem for ever and ever.

In the Lord’s Army we must be Baptized by a true Bible believing, and practicing church, an seek the “Filling of the Spirit” by living Holy, Active and Consecrated lives, which is simply spreading the Saving Gospel, and reproving and rebuking Evil. As we can clearly see that Enlistment in the Lord’s Army is simple and easy, but we are not promised a “Rose Garden”! “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way(the only way-“One Way”), the truth, and the life; NO MAN cometh unto the Father, but by me(Christ Jesus). If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him(God the Father in the flesh).” John 14 : 6-7.

One of the most beloved Soldiers of Almighty God a saintly warrior, and even though not victorious in this life, He undoubtedly experiences eternal Victory in Heaven: Gen Robert E. Lee, and this Hymn was sung at his funeral:

“HOW FIRM A FOUNDATION”

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,

Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!

What more can He say than to you He hath said,

To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,

For I am thy God, I will still give thee aid;

I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand.

Upheld by My gracious, omnipotent hand.

When thro’ the deep waters I call thee to go,

The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;

For I will with thee thy trials to bless,

And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

When thou’ fiery trails thy pathway shall lie,

My grace all-sufficient, shall be thy supply;

The flames shall not hurt thee, I only design

Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.”

Once our troops are committed and in action, they must have each and everyone’s unwavering support. All in our God Blessed Nation should be on bended knee in prayerful humbleness thanking the Most, High, Holy, and Righteous Almighty God Which Art In Heaven for every VETERAN living or dead, past, present, or future for their dedication to Him, His Only Begotten Son, His preserved word the Holy Scriptures, the family, and our Nation. Almighty God, Family, and Country and exactly that order.

If we the Army of God a Family of Veterans would but repent, turn from our evil and wicked ways, seek His Will, and pray, then He promises that from heaven He will then hear our prayers and heal our land. Like Salvation the answer is very simple, very easy! Would we but listen, we could have our Sons and Daughters, and Grandchildren back!!!!

“ONLY ONE LIFE TWILL SOON BE PAST, ONLY WHAT IS DONE FOR CHRIST JESUS WILL LAST”! Pray for a veteran today. Then thank a veteran personally. I may insure-assure you that without doubt or controversy even a small hug is to be greatly appreciated. Remember that our Precious Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ said: “GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.” John 15 : 13. So this Veterans day please Honor all that have shed blood, sweat, and tears for our United States of America. Although the first Bible printed in America was done in the native Algonquin Indian Language (by John Eliot in 1663), the first English language Bible to be printed in America (by Robert Aitken in 1782) was a King James Version. In 1791, Isaac Collins vastly improved upon the quality and size of the typesetting of American Bibles and produced the first "Family Bible" printed in America...also a King James Version. Also in 1791, Isaiah Thomas published the first Illustrated Bible printed in America...in the King James Version.

A leaf from the first Bible printed in the English language in America. These leaves are 224 years old. Called “The Bible of the Revolution”, Robert Aitken’s little Bible was small enough to fit into the coat pocket of the Revolutionary War soldiers. The leaves measure only 6 inches tall by almost 4 inches wide. The only Bible printing ever called for by an act of the United States Congress; this King James Version Bible helped meet the need for scriptures while England refused to allow their Bibles to be imported by the rebellious colonists, during the embargo of the Revolutionary War.

These little treasures also come with a lovely black leather, gold-stamped, numbered limited-edition presentation book detailing their history, and containing their Certificate of Authenticity. The book shows what many of the other pages of the Aitken Bible looked like, offers a great historical overview of this “Bible of the Revolution”, shows the entry in the Journals of Congress calling for the printing to be done, and also offers the text of George Washington’s letter, commending Robert Aitken for helping to meet American soldiers’ need for Bibles, and being the first to print an English Bible in America.

History: No one had been legally allowed to print the Bible in America while it was still under the rule of Great Britain—this was the job of the king’s printers—but after its independence American printers could begin to produce their own copies of the Scriptures. Aitken is credited with being the first to do so, and he petitioned Congress for $10,000 with which to complete the project. Although the funds were approved, it appears that Aitken was never reimbursed for his work and he became poor. However, his daughter took up the printing trade as well, and became the first American woman to print the Bible—a Bible translated by Charles Thomson, Secretary to the United States Congress.

As a curious side note: Robert Aitken’s daughter, Jane Aitken, went on to become the first woman in the history of the world to ever print a Bible. Jane published a translation into English done by the Secretary of the United States Congress, which was itself actually the first non-King James version English language Bible ever printed in America (or the Western Hemisphere for that matter).

The War of the American Revolution had entered its third year. Since the fateful firing of the "first shot" on Lexington Green, the Continental Congress, sitting in Philadelphia, had been required to make many crucial decisions, both military and political. Now, in July 1777, a petition signed by three clergymen was placed before that dedicated body of colonial representatives calling for a determination of an entirely different nature.
To the honourable Continental Congress of the United States of North America now sitting in Philadelphia.
Honoured Gentlemen
We the Ministers of the Gospel of Christ in the City of Philadelphia, whose names are under written, taking it into our serious consideration that in our present circumstances, books in general, and in particular, the holy Scriptures contained in the old and new Testaments are growing so scarce and dear, that we greatly fear that unless timely care be used to prevent it, we shall not have bibles for our schools and families, and for the publick worship of God in our churches.
We therefore think it our duty to our country and to the churches of Christ to lay this danger before this honourable house, humbly requesting that under your care, and by your encouragement, a copy of the holy Bible may be printed, so as to be sold nearly as cheap as the common Bibles, formerly imported from Britain and Ireland, were sold.
The number of purchasers is so great, that we doubt not but a large impression would soon be sold, But unless the sale of the whole edition belong to the printer, and he be bound under sufficient penalties, that no copy be sold by him, nor by any retailer under him, at a higher price than that allowed by this honourable house, we fear that the whole impression would soon be bought up, and sold again at an exorbitant price, which would frustrate your pious endeavours and fill the country with just complaints.
We are persuaded that your care and seasonable interposition will remove the anxious fears of many pious and well disposed persons; would prevent the murmurs of the discontented; would save much money to the United States; would be the means of promoting Christian knowledge in our churches, and would transmit your names with additional honour to the latest posterity.
Our sincere prayers shall ever be for your welfare and prosperity, and we beg leave with the greatest respect to subscribe our selves

Referred to a committee composed of John Adams, Daniel Roberdeau and Jonathan Bayard Smith, the petition was not reported upon until September 11th. On that day, General Washington was fighting the Battle of the Brandywine and General John Burgoyne was on his way toward Saratoga. Before long, Philadelphia would he occupied by the troops of General Sir William Howe and Congress itself would flee to Lancaster and then to York.
In its report, the committee stated that it had "conferred fully with the printers, etc. in this city and are of the opinion, that the proper types for printing the Bible are not to be had in this country, and that the paper cannot be procured, but with such difficulties and subject to such casualties as render any dependence on it altogether improper . . ." It recommended, therefore, that Congress "order the committee of commerce to import 20,000 bibles from Holland, Scotland or elsewhere into the different ports of the states of the Union."
When the motion carried by the narrowest of margins, seven to six, a subsequent motion was immediately passed ordering "that the consideration thereof be postponed to Saturday next." However, since nothing more is known concerning this resolution, it is doubted whether the beleaguered Congress ever took steps to effect its implementation.
Isaiah Thomas, the first historian of American printing, reported that by 1775 there were fifty presses in the Colonies. Why then should the proposal of three Philadelphia clergymen receive such careful consideration from a Continental Congress harassed by the demands of a war whose tide had yet to be turned from overwhelming defeat to victory?
Prior to the War of the Revolution, there had been no publication of the English Bible in the Colonies. All demands for Scriptures had to be met by importation from England and the Continent. It is true, of course, that there was a scarcity of the type and paper necessary for the successful publication of a book as large as the Bible. Most of the presses were used for the impression of documents, proclamations, pamphlets and papers. But there was a far more serious consideration that kept it from being printed by an American printer. It was, in fact, illegal for any printer in the Colonies to produce the English Bible.
Publication of the Scriptures in any lands under the British crown was restricted; in order to insure accuracy in printing, to the Oxford and Cambridge University Presses and to one other printer licensed by the king. In Scotland, special licenses were required.
There is, however, the fascinating story that an edition of the English Bible and several Testaments were printed in Boston about 1750. But no copy has ever been satisfactorily identified, for the paper and type would have been imported and, according to the story, a British imprint was employed.
While the Royal License applied only to the publication of the text of the King James Bible, without comment, there seems to have been no restriction on annotated editions. But these publications were usually large and elaborate, filled with engravings. They were, consequently, expensive and had to be financed by subscription. Several such projects had been proposed in the Colonies but had foundered for lack of support.
Also, inasmuch as the restriction did not apply to the printing of Bible translations, a complete translation by John Eliot, printed in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1663 for the Indians of that area, and three editions of the German Bible, printed by Christopher Saur and his sons in Germantown, Pennsylvania, in 1743, 1763 and I 776, were the only known publications of the Holy Bible in colonial America until the closing years of the War of the Revolution.
In 1780, another motion pertaining to the printing of the Scriptures was made in Congress:
Resolved: That it be recommended to such of the States who may think it convenient for them that they take proper measures to procure one or more new and correct editions of the old and new Testament to be printed and that such states regulate their printers by law so as to secure effectually the said books from being misprinted.
Introduced by James McLene of Pennsylvania and seconded by John Hanson of Maryland, nothing more substantial is known to have developed from this recommendation than resulted from the clerical petition three years earlier. However, on January 21, 1781, it seemed at last to have been an opportune time for Robert Aitken to present the following memorial to Congress:

That in every well regulated Government in Christendom The Sacred Books of the Old and New Testament, commonly called the Holy Bible, are printed and published under the Authority of the Sovereign Powers, in order to prevent the fatal confusion that would arise, and the alarming Injuries the Christian Faith might suffer from the Spurious and erroneous Editions of Divine Revelation. That your Memorialist has no doubt but this work is an Object worthy the attention of the Congress of the United States of America, who will not neglect spiritual security, while they are virtuously contending for temporal blessings. Under this persuasion your Memorialist begs leave to inform your Honours That he both begun and made considerable progress in a neat Edition of the Holy Scriptures for the use of schools, But being cautious of suffering his copy of the Bible to Issue forth without the sanction of Congress, Humbly prays that your Honours would take this important matter into serious consideration & would be pleased to appoint one Member or Members of your Honourable Body to inspect his work so that the same may be published under the Authority of Congress. And further, your Memorialist prays, that he may be commissioned or otherwise appointed & Authorized to print and vend Editions of the Sacred Scriptures, in such manner and form as may best suit the wants and demands of the good people of these States, provided the same be in all things perfectly consonant to the Scriptures as heretofore Established and received amongst us.
Robert Aitken was no stranger to the respected gentlemen of Congress. In January 1776, he began printing the journals of Congress, and when, in December of that year, the Continental Congress retreated to Baltimore, they sent an "express" to him requesting that he bring his press and utensils at public expense to Baltimore where he might locate and continue his engagement with Congress. But Aitken decided to remain in Philadelphia where he had settled after arriving from Scotland in 1769.
Born in Dalkeith, near Edinburgh, in 1734 (or 1735), Aitken had learned the art of bookbinding and gone into the book business in Paisley. When he was about thirty-five years old, he left his wife and three children behind while he came to America to investigate the prospects of publishing and selling books here.
Shortly after his arrival in Philadelphia, he advertised for sale, for ready money only, a long list of "the very best books" and ordered printed two books -- a Shorter Catechism and A Dialogue between Jockey and Maggy, or How to Court a Country Girl. These appeared with his imprint (but without printer identification) in 1770. Evidently satisfied with the outlook, he returned home to Scotland in November and by May 10, 1771, was back in Philadelphia with his wife, Janet, and two children, Jane and Robert, Jr., his third child having died while he was in America.
Aitken set up shop in Philadelphia on Front Street, nearly opposite the London Coffee H6use, with stock he had purchased for fifty pounds. The list of stock as of June 11, 1771, is shown in his "Waste Book", a large folio (now with the Pennsylvania Historical Society) which covers his accounts from 1771 to 1802. The wide-ranging list includes, in addition to books and stationery items, yard goods, silver knee buckles, needle cases, a bird cage, six gilt school Bibles at five shillings, and twelve Pocket School Bibles at six shillings three pence. He thus established himself in Philadelphia as a bookseller and soon thereafter as a publisher and binder.
In January 1775, he began publication of a sophisticated monthly, The Pennsylvania Magazine, with Thomas Paine as editor and a subscription list of six hundred. Each issue was a large octavo-size magazine of forty-eight pages, and it has been described as one of the most attractive of early American periodicals.
It was in 1777 that Aitken decided to test the market with a New Testament, a small book of ~ pages, measuring five and a half by three and an eighth inches. Other editions of 1778 and 1779 are recorded but according to The English Bible in America, no copies are known to he in existence. Subsequently, other publishers in America followed his lead with their editions of New Testaments:

Francis Bailey, Philadelphia
Isaac Collins, Trenton
1781 James Adams, Wilmington, Delaware

While Aitken's "Waste Book" shows sales of Testaments in the last few days of August 1777, there are no more entries until after the British had left Philadelphia in June of 1778. Then, on July 18th, he advertised in the Pennsylvania Evening Post a new "neat" edition of the New Testament, just published, and sales reappear in this "Waste Book".

Robert Aitken's memorial to Congress for aid in printing the Bible was referred on January 26, 1781, to "the committee on the Motion for Printing the Old and New Testament," but it was some months before any action was taken on it. In the meantime, in the autumn of that same year, Aitken petitioned the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to render him monetary assistance. After a prolonged series of delays, on March 15, 1782, it was resolved by that body --

That the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds, be given on loan, to the said Robert Aitken, in small sums, and at such times as will be most convenient for paying the same, free of interest, for the space of one year, from the date of the receipt of such sum or sums as he may receive.

Ironically, it is not recorded whether Robert Aitken ever took advantage of this long-sought-after offer of assistance.

On September 1, 1782, the committee appointed by Congress to consider Aitken's project, having learned the completed Bible was almost ready for publication, at last took action by requesting the Chaplains of Congress to examine the proposed edition for accuracy.

The two Chaplains of Congress were distinguished citizens of Philadelphia. The Rev. Dr. William White, rector of Christ Church, was instrumental in organizing the Protestant Episcopal Church in America and later became the first president of the Bible Society of Philadelphia, the first Bible Society established in the United States. The other chaplain, the Rev. George Duffield, was pastor of the Third Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia and after the war was to be one of the leaders in the formation of the Presbyterian Church in the United States.

But before the report of the Chaplains was received, Aitken himself sent another memorial to Congress. Dated September 9th, it declared that his Bible, "accomplished in the midst of the Confusion and Distresses of War," had at last been completed. In seeking the aid of Congress, he suggested their purchase of a portion of the edition on the account of the United States: "One Fourth of it will Amount to 200 Bibles for each State..."

The Chaplains of Congress, Dr. White and Mr. Duffield, made their report on September 10, 1782. Two days later, on the 12th, the Committee reported to Congress, submitting copies of both their request to the Chaplains and the Chaplains' report. The same day Congress approved the "pious and laudable undertaking of Mr. Aitken, as subservient to the interest of religion, as well as an instance of the progress of arts in this country," and recommended his Bible to the American people, graciously authorizing him to publish the recommendation "in any manner he shall think proper."

Aitken thought it proper to print the three documents in his Bible, immediately following the title page, as the reader will discover in the facsimile to which this essay serves as an introduction.

Aitken's Bible was not issued until September 25th when he sent a special copy to John Hanson, then president of the Congress, for the use of that body and as an example of the work they had honored with their patronage. On the same day, he placed an advertisement of his Bible, just below the full text of the action of the Congress and the Committee reports, in the Freeman's Journal, a periodical established in 1781 whose masthead claimed that it was "Open to all parties but influenced by none."

The first English Bible printed in this country, as well as the first Bible to be recommended to the people by the Congress of the United States, was relatively small in dimensions. It measured but five and five-eighths inches by three and one-eighth inches. Printed in brevier type on American-made paper, it contained 726 leaves (1,452 pages). It is considered to be an excellent piece of printing with remarkably few divided words and with pages unmarred by "rivers" of blank space.

The edition consisted of ten thousand copies in which, as was the custom in small King James version Bibles, the books of the Apocrypha were omitted. The graceful title page carried the coat of arms of Pennsylvania and the New Testament showed Robert Aitken's initials, R.A., in script letters below the Order of Books on the back of the title page.

When the Aitken Bible was issued, the War of the Revolution was nearing its end. In 1783, Dr. John Rodgers, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in New York, wrote to General Washington suggesting that copies of Aitken's Bible be presented to each of the soldiers in the army when they were discharged. General Washington replied that this worthy suggestion came too late, for Congress had already ordered the discharge of two-thirds of the army. He added:

It would have pleased me well, if Congress had been pleased to make such an important present to the brave fellows who have done so much for the security of their country's rights and establishment.

With the cessation of hostilities, trade was soon renewed with Britain and the Continent. For Robert Aitken it meant that the sale of his Bible would be challenged by the importation of less expensive and more attractive copies of the Scriptures. And despite the efforts of his Presbyterian friends to encourage the exclusive purchase of his Bible within the Synod of New York and Philadelphia; his "Waste Book" records for the ensuing years indicate relatively small returns from their distribution.

Nevertheless, Aitken continued in the book business often producing very fine examples of the binder's art he had learned as a youth in Scotland. In 1785, be began a publication of the Transactions of the American Philosophical Society, for which he and his daughter also produced many special bindings. Many years later, in 1808, Jane Aitken was to publish a four-volume Bible which contained the translation of the Greek Septuagint Old Testament by Charles Thomson after his retirement as secretary of Congress in 1789-the first translation of that Greek text into English ever made.

In 1789, Aitken appealed to Congress for a patent for the exclusive right to print Bibles in America for fourteen years. It was denied. By that time, a number of American printers were publishing Testaments, and in 1790 the Rheims-Douay Bible of Mathew Carey and a smaller Bible by William Young were published, both in Philadelphia. In 1791, Isaiah Thomas at Worcester and Isaac Collins at Trenton began their series of fine editions, and the American printing trade was well launched into the publication of the Scriptures. By 1800, there had been printed twenty-four editions of the whole English Bible and forty-eight of the New Testament, mostly in Philadelphia, Boston, Trenton, Wilmington, New York and Worcester.

The sad picture of Robert Aitken's financial status a decade after his first memorial to Congress can be glimpsed in a communication he sent in 1791 to John Nicholson, at that time Receiver of general taxes for the state of Pennsylvania:

I have calculated from my true loss by Continental money 3,000 and on the Edition of 10,000 Bibles 4000 -- owing to these you may readily figure my situation. My house is under mortgage for a considerable sum, a foreign debt, though not of its value. I have other debts to pay, not considerable--what I earn goes to pay them as soon as earned...

Of the ten thousand copies of Robert Aitken's Bible, only a few are known to exist today. In 1940, the Rev. Edwin A. R. Rumball-Petre was able to locate twenty eight copies in institutions here and abroad and twenty two in private collections. Of the others, imagination alone may dare to suggest their fate.

On his death in 1802, the Gazette of the United States in its issue of July 2nd said simply:

On the 14th in the 68th year of his age, Mr. Robert Aitken Sen. of this city, Printer: near 40 years a respectable inhabitant of this city; through the whole of an useful life regarded far his integrity and probity; and leaving behind him a family, carefully brought up in the paths of industry and virtue.
