Florida’s new governor, Ron DeSantis, mentioned the movement in a speech to the Club for Growth, which describes itself as “a national network of over 250,000 pro-growth, limited government Americans who share in the belief that prosperity and opportunity come from economic freedom.” DeSantis says New York Gov. Andrew evil-Cuomo has accused him of stealing residents from his state. “I’m not stealing anybody,” said DeSantis, “they are driving people away.” The data back him up. Chris Edwards of the Foundation for Economic Freedom, the first free-market organization in the United States, produced a research document for the Cato Institute that shows “of the 25 highest-tax states, 24 of them had net out-migration in 2016.” One of the states that gained from migration was Florida where “145 households moved in for every 100 that left.”...

$93 Trillion Green New Deal Means

by Thomas Gallatin: The American Action Forum (AAF) released its study of commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (AOC) widely panned “Green New Deal” (GND) as it sought to calculate the actual cost of her plan. Sen. John Barrasso (R-WY), chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, put it bluntly: “The Green New Deal would bankrupt the nation.” He added, “On the upper end, every American household would have to pay $65,000 per year to foot the bill. The total price tag would be $93 trillion over 10 years. That is roughly four times the value of all Fortune 500 companies combined. That’s no deal.”

The AAF broke down the 10-year cost of implementing the GND’s major goals. The following is a list of some of those goals and their estimated total cost and cost per household:

Low-carbon Electric Grid: $5.4 trillion; $39,000
Net Zero Emissions Transportation System: $1.3 to $2.7 trillion; $9,000 to $20,000
Guaranteed Jobs: $6.8 to $44.6 trillion; $49,000 to $322,000
Universal Health Care: $36 trillion; $260,000
Guaranteed Green Housing: $1.6 to $4.2 trillion; $4,000 to $12,000

The Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe observes, “Even without killing all the farting cows and eliminating every last car on the road, the Green New Deal will cost anywhere from 2.5 to 4.5 times the amount of the entire United States GDP.” In fact, global GDP is estimated to be less than $80 trillion.

One of the glaring ironies with the GND and commie-AOC’s loudly expressed alarm over climate change — the “Millennials’ World War II,” as she has bloviated — is the absence of any promotion of the most practical, reliable, efficient, and lowest-cost source for green energy: nuclear power. As Barrasso argued, “Instead, we should promote innovation to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions. Promising new technologies like advanced nuclear power, carbon capture, and carbon utilization held the key to significant emissions reductions. We can lower our emissions without crashing our economy.”

The truth is that the goal behind the GND push is not actually fighting climate change; rather it’s an attempt to usurp America’s free-enterprise system and replace it with totalitarian socialism. That’s why leftists like commie-AOC love to promote “free” stuff but never freedom. Individual Liberty presents the biggest threat to their lust for power.

Cohen hearings designed to

keep public in dark about Russia

On Tuesday, Cohen will testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee. On Wednesday, he will go before the House Oversight Committee. And on Thursday, he will testify before the House Intelligence Committee. It would be a great service if the Cohen appearances helped increase the store of public information on the Trump-Russia furor. But even though Cohen is a key figure in the matter — his name is mentioned 24 times in the so-called Trump dossier — the hearings appear designed to prevent the public from learning anything new about the Russia matter. First, two of the three hearings will be held in secret; both the Senate and House Intelligence committees plan to question Cohen behind closed doors. Those are the hearings that will delve into Russia. The hearing that is public, before House Oversight, is specifically structured not to touch on the Russia matter. There is good reason for all the questioning to be public. Cohen is not a government official and has no classified information to share. His 24 mentions in the dossier have been publicly available for two years. His conviction on lying to Congress — specifically, his falsehood about the timing of Trump Tower Moscow discussions — is also public. His own case is over and done with, and he will soon be behind bars. Furthermore, Cohen has already answered questions from the House Intelligence Committee, and all members, Democrat and Republican, voted to make those answers public. "There's no reason to prevent him from testifying publicly since he previously spoke to us in an unclassified setting, and the Democrats supported our motion in the last Congress to publish our interview transcripts," said Intelligence Committee ranking Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, a former chairman of the committee. China Exposes Globalist Bankruptcy

by Arnold Ahlert: It would seem that one of the GOP globalists may have awakened from his self-induced slumber. Sen. Marco Rubio is sounding the alarm about China. “For nearly two decades, the communist Chinese government fooled the world into believing it would eventually embrace international norms,” Rubio warns in a Washington Post op-ed. “By welcoming China into the World Trade Organization in 2001, the United States and other nations hoped it would truly open its economy and markets to foreign companies and, someday, even allow for political liberalization. The hopes were mistaken.”

Those hopes were utterly naive at best — or thoroughly calculated at worst. They are also one of the main reasons Donald Trump is president today. While American voters who put Trump over the top may not be able to fully articulate why they went for a political novice whose mouth is both his biggest asset and his biggest liability, they instinctively knew he was an American Patriot who put his own country first. And they knew that loyalty stood in the sharpest of contrasts with a self-aggrandizing, bicoastal elitist class and their Washington, DC, water-carriers.

These elitists view borders and the nation state per se as anachronistic impediments standing in the way of their efforts to gain historically unprecedented riches and unassailable power.

Rubio later doubled down. “The Chinese effort to supplant America is first deeply rooted in their view of history, that it is their rightful place to be the most powerful nation on earth, and that the last hundred years are an aberration, and so they’re going to set things right,” he stated. “Second, it’s based on frankly suckering the West and America into believing that they are a poor and developing country who just wants to be like us. We’ve made policy decisions for two decades or longer based on that assumption that’s now come back to bite us.”

To further illuminate the seriousness of the threat, Rubio has released an 80-page report, “Made in China 2025: And the Future of American Industry,” which details the efforts of the Communist superpower’s plans to supplant America on the world stage.

How serious? “It’s the most comprehensive effort ever undertaken by any nation ever in every realm,” Rubio stated. “It’s in the fields of commerce, trade, technology. They use our immigration system against us. Academia. They influence media. They have learned how to use the American multinational corporate class to lobby policymakers towards pro-China decisions.”

Use? In the Post, Rubio speaks to the “meaningful structural changes” outlined by Trump that included addressing “forced technology transfers, intellectual-property theft, non-tariff barriers and cybersecurity.” Nonetheless, a CNBC article refers to the forced transfers as “alleged.” The Peterson Institute for International Economics refers to forced transfers and China’s penchant for property theft as an “increasingly accepted narrative in the West, especially in the United States.” Bloomberg News bemoans the possibility that the S&P 500 could have been 11 percent higher “if President Donald Trump hadn’t adopted a protectionist stance on global commerce.” And an article entitled “Beltway Warriors Target China as the Next Global Threat” asserts that “both economic nationalists and security hawks seem to be looking forward to the evolving cold war with China,” even though “China does not seek global domination and has no plans to establish a military presence in America’s sphere of influence in Central and Latin America.”

Really? As far back as 2008, a bipartisan congressional panel issued a report in which they unanimously agreed that China was regularly targeting databases used by the United States government and American defense contractors. In 2013, a 60-page report released by American computer security firm Mandiant revealed that ongoing cyber attacks were being perpetrated against a number of American corporations and government agencies “and that the Chinese Government is aware of them.” Last September, Bloomberg News revealed that China extended Venezuela a $5 billion line of credit. And last week, The Washington Times revealed that “the Beijing-based Chaoji Da Benying, revealed photos of China’s J-20 stealth jet fighter showing what appear to be knockoffs of two American jet fighter technologies.”

The foremost reality check? In 2017, America’s trade deficit with China was $375 billion, something global elitists view with no concern. Yet China’s entire 2018 military budget was $175 billion — meaning one could argue America financed all of it, with $200 billion to spare.

“For a long time, the assumption was that China was the place where cheap stuff would be made, but all the valuable stuff would be developed in America,” Rubio adds. “But they’ve developed the Made in China 2025 plan, which is designed to actually supplant us as the place that makes all of the valuable and higher-end things. So it’s just — not only is it comprehensive, it’s overwhelming all of government, and I think we’ve been late to wake up to it. Frankly, we’re running out of time to address it.”

Does anyone in government remember who they’re dealing with? Last year, more than 3.59 million Chinese enterprises were added to the Communist government’s “trustworthiness blacklist” — as in an all-encompassing social credit system that “assigns both positive and negative scores for individual or corporate behaviour in an attempt to pressure citizens into behaving,” as columnist He Huifeng explains. And an MSNBC article’s headline spells out the currently contemptible dynamic in no uncertain terms. “China Uses DNA to Track Its People, With the Help of American Expertise,” refers to the efforts coordinated between Chinese police and Thermo Fisher, a Massachusetts company.

Thermo Fisher’s response to the exposé? Last Wednesday, the company announced it would no longer sell equipment — solely in the Chinese province where the abuse was taking place.

Thermo Fisher is only one of many Communist China accommodators. Bing provides China with a censored search engine. Google is working on another. Hollywood has long “tailored” its movies to comport with Beijing’s sensibilities. And as a report from the director of National Intelligence states, “China’s intelligence services will exploit the openness of American society, especially academia and the scientific community…”

Why is this allowed to happen? As Rubio explains, many multinational corporations are run by people “just trying to get five years of access to that huge market so they can retire with very valuable stockholdings. Just because they’re headquartered in America doesn’t mean they are American companies acting in the best interest of our nation.”

That’s an egregious understatement. The “citizen of the world” elitists and their useful idiot collaborators in media, academia, Hollywood, and Washington, DC, have made “nationalist” and “patriotism” dirty words in their contemptible effort to obscure the reality that they represent an existential threat to America.

Which is why you either agree with them or you’re a racist, xenophobic “deplorable.”

The effort to divide America by party, race, religion, sex, gender, and class — even if it requires a plethora of hoaxes to do so — is no accident. The highly orchestrated distractions are designed to fatally undermine anything resembling the national cohesion utterly inimical to the globalist agenda. Trump once noted that a “nation without borders is no nation at all.”

Priests To Tell What They Heard In Confession

Currently, clergy members are already mandatory reporters of child abuse and neglect, but sins confessed specifically in confession are exempt under current law from mandatory reporting. Bill 360, introduced by Democrat state Sen. Jerry Hill, would “delete that exception for a penitential communication, thereby requiring clergy to make a mandated report even if they acquired the knowledge or reasonable suspicion of child abuse or neglect during a penitential communication.” This is an egregious overreach of secular authority, stepping into sacred religious rites, and will not protect children or stem the tide of child abuse. It’s not hard to understand the climate spawning this bill. Constant scandals of sexual abuse within churches, internally investigated and covered up, sometimes for decades, have left a bad taste in the mouths of many. Yet this is an overreaction—a pendulum swing too far—and will only hurt more people. Upon ordination, clergy members take vows to not disclose the sins they hear during confession, and violating that oath has strong moral repercussions. For Catholic priests, “any priest who directly betrays a penitent would incur an immediate and automatic excommunication.” In the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, the ordination vows read in part:“Will you forgive the sins of those who repent, and will you promise never to divulge the sins confessed to you?”...

Most Americans Would Fail a Citizenship Test

by Robin Smith: Why are Millennials embracing socialism as an acceptable philosophical approach to markets? Why is the public at large not just laughing when the political Left attempts to tie the anti-Semitism and perversion of Christianity practiced by Nazis to the political Right? Why are we seeing a growing embrace of victimhood and weakness as honorable instead of achievement and deliberate pursuits of distinguished goals? Why do individuals who refuse to value citizenship but want socialism fail to see that those coming into America illegally do so either with nefarious intent or because they are fleeing big, socialist government?

Better yet, how’d we get here to this mess and how can we make an urgent, existential correction? Believing Thomas Jefferson’s statement to be true, Americans need to think through and understand the implications: “A nation has never been ignorant and free; that has never been and will never be.”

The Wall Street Journal opined last fall over the “embarrassing” number of Americans who failed the same civics test administered to those working through the naturalization process to become a U.S. Citizens. Writing about the abysmal 19% of individuals 45 years of age or younger who successfully answered enough questions about America’s history and government to pass, the editorial board blared that this “reflects the declining state of American public schools. None of this augurs well for the future of self-government.”

No, criticism of so many of America’s public schools and our government-run education is not excessively harsh.

On Feb. 15, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, housed at Princeton University, issued a damning press release publishing results of a 50-state survey asking 41,000 Americans the same 20 questions testing civic knowledge that are part of the naturalization process. The questions ranged from inquiring how many amendments are enjoined to the U.S. Constitution to identifying one of the rights enumerated in the First Amendment to which war former President Dwight D. Eisenhower served in prior to his election.

The results were truly shameful. Only one state, Vermont, saw the majority of its participants pass — and even then, 47% failed. Had 70% or higher been deemed the passing threshold, not one state would have had a majority of individuals pass. The worst-performing state was Louisiana, with 73% who failed. That percentage climbed to 82% if you include those correctly answering as few as 12 of the 20 questions.

Simply put, the facts of history have been rewritten, the roles of history have been recast, and the value of exceptionalism has been substituted with warmed-up mediocrity as the new normal to equalize the masses. Call it indoctrination, propaganda, or some other moniker attempting to capture the breadth, width, and reach of our current chaotic conundrum, but understand one thing: The great nation of America is being destroyed by Americans, not some foreign enemy. Those rewriting history and recasting the roles, good and bad, to fit today’s culture and political agendas are truly deconstructing our nation, most knowing they must create an ignorance of just how America became great through its unique constitutional republic and individualism that breeds self-reliance and exceptionalism, ingredients that do not coexist with socialism, communism, or all the other -isms that create a permanent underclass dependent upon big government.

Americans young, old, learned, and ignorant, love and herald the demand for Liberty. Yet, most live as if the prospects of freedom are made possible by obtaining some freeze-dried packet that comes with the instructions to just add water and, voila, the benefits of living in a constitutional republic abound. The expectation of free speech exists as an ever-safe constant without an understanding of the requirement to foster, protect and ensure our enumerated rights through a free and independent people.

If generation after generation of students are told and accept as truth the myth that the government has the jurisdiction and even the duty to provide a wage without work, free health insurance, free tuition, free food, price-controlled housing, and a host of other goodies for dependents living off of other people’s money, America dies — as does every aspect of freedom enjoyed by our citizens.

As the WSJ noted, “The real threat to American freedom is the failure of current citizens to learn even the most basic facts about U.S. history and government.”

Every state needs to pass its own legislation to address the lack of history taught and the horrific proficiency of critical information about America’s truly exceptional history. Equally important, every single adult who has a child, a grandchild or some other mind malleable within reach must serve as a First Teacher to ensure our children learn and grow into citizens who are capable of what James Madison spoke of as a permanently free people who serve as guardians of true Liberty.

UK Plans to Ban Hizballah As

a Terrorist Organization

National Review’s Michael Brendan Dougherty says: “The pope’s summit is trash and a coverup.” The National Catholic Register described a quintessential question asked by a reporter: “At the press conference on Feb. 22, longtime CNN Vatican reporter Delia Gallagher pointed out to Cardinal Cupich of Chicago and Cardinal Sean O’Malley of Boston that in 2002 the American Cardinals were in Rome working to implement a zero-tolerance policy, and the main figure in that was then-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick. Why, she asked, should the American people trust them again?”

Why indeed? Ms. Gallagher didn’t get an answer. She got the runaround and so did faithful Catholics the world over. Cardinal Cupich was appointed a cardinal by Pope Francis on the recommendation of the now-disgraced former-Cardinal McCarrick, then designated by Francis as coordinator of this newest coverup of deviant sexual escapades by clergy at all levels, not just priests. As expected, Cupich dodged Gallagher’s question with still more nebulous platitudes just like McCarrick used seventeen years ago.

The sex summit never mentioned Cardinal McCarrick, yet he loomed large anyway — the proverbial elephant in the room. Pope Francis still denies prior knowledge of McCarrick’s predatory homosexual behavior or that McCarrick had been confined to a secluded life of prayer and penance by his predecessor, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. Immediately upon assuming the papacy in 2015, however, Pope Francis reversed Benedict’s action and greatly increased McCarrick’s influence — until last summer when proof of his deviant behavior emerged. The week before last week’s the sex summit Pope Francis defrocked McCarrick, evidently thinking the whole affair would go away by doing so.

Catholics still want to know why Francis hasn’t released documents in the Vatican and in Washington, DC where McCarrick was archbishop which would prove one way or another whether Francis knew about McCarrick’s deviant behavior and his suspension by Benedict XVI. None of that was addressed and the McCarrick affair remains a festering boil. Media asked questions about the “gay” network too, but Cupich and other favorites of Pope Francis deflected them. At the summit was Robert Royal, president of the Faith & Reason Institute in Washington, D.C. who wrote: “So, was it dealing with the full truth of the current problem within the Church not even to mention the element of homosexual predation — to sidestep the greater problem… and making it appear that the problem is the abuse of young children and not basically homosexual grooming? And isn’t it undeniable at this point that there were and are “gay” networks of mutual cover-up, not least in Rome, even at the very highest levels?”

None of that was on the agenda. It wasn’t discussed. Bandaids were applied to those festering boils too. To lance them would have been painful, yes, but then healing could have begun. Instead, they were covered up yet again in hopes that the anger of faithful Catholics out there would dissipate yet again as it did after the 2002 Boston Globe Spotlight series. Remember, it was then-Cardinal McCarrick using his soothing words to convince us all that everything would be okay, that he would fix it. I fell for it then but I won’t this time, and either will millions of others out here in the pews. This is not going to go away. It’s going to get worse. That’s how infections are.

So now what? What will “get worse” look like? Will there be another schism? Another Reformation? Will faithful Catholics zip up their wallets when the collection plate comes around? NBC News reported last October that: “Thirteen states now investigating alleged sexual abuse linked to the Catholic Church.” They include Florida, Arkansas, Illinois, Pennsylvania again, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New Mexico,New York, and Vermont. The US Justice Department is investigating possible RICO violations by various dioceses as well.

America is paying 90 per cent of the costs. Kenya has “multiple biological organisms” in the institute, which pose “a great threat to the community” if released accidentally or on purpose. Overall, a 2015 survey found that “Kenya stores at least 16 dangerous pathogens.” Kenya has been a particular target of Islamic terrorist attacks in the past. Among the more spectacular and devastating ones have been the blowing up of the American embassy in 1998 that cost 213 lives, mostly Kenyan embassy employees. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi told a US delegation during a two-hour meeting last week. The delegation was made up of the Anwar Sadat Congressional Gold Medal Commission that advocated the granting of the US Congressional Gold Medal posthumously to the slain Egyptian president who made peace with Israel. Its members traveled to Egypt to invite Sisi to the ceremony in the fall, when the medal will be given to Sadat’s wife, Jehan. The group was headed by the founder of the commission, Ezra Friedlander, an ultra-Orthodox consultant and lobbyist from New York who spearheaded efforts to have the award granted to Sadat. This required the passage of a bill that needed to be sponsored by two-thirds of Congress and was signed by US President Donald Trump in December. “President Sisi spoke fondly not only of Egypt’s past vibrant Jewish community, but also said that should there be a resurgence of the Jewish community in Egypt, the government will provide every religious necessity required... that was a very warm embrace,” he said. “He, Sisi basically said that should there be a resurgence of the Jewish community, the government will build synagogues and other related services.” Sisi’s comments came a couple of weeks after the United Arab Emirates officially recognized its small Jewish community, in a move seen as an effort to present itself to the West as a country that is tolerant of other religions. While there was never a historical Jewish community in the UAE – although there is now a small synagogue in Dubai – the Jewish community in Egypt extends back to antiquity. Before the establishment of Israel in 1948, an estimated 75,000 Jews lived in the country. They were expelled in the 1950s, and only a handful of Jews are believed to live in Egypt today...

According to Ezie, the red monkey was a clear case of blackface imagery. But something much more disturbing than a toy monkey in a Soho store happened in between. The New York City Commission on Human Rights sent a cease and desist letter to Prada, in its own words, “demanding the company immediately stop displaying and selling the ‘Pradamalia’ goods.” "The Commission is taking swift action to demand Prada immediately comply with the NYC Human Rights Law," Assistant Commissioner Sapna V. SPLC's Hate Hoax: A New Report

on 'Extremism'

by Nate Jackson: In the midst of the endless news cycle surrounding Jussie Smollett’s hate-crime hoax, our own Louis DeBroux highlighted just how prevalent such hoaxes are. Ask yourself a simple question: Do we really live in a nation filled with hate groups committing rampant hate crimes when the hip new thing is to perpetrate fake hate crimes to get attention?

The nation’s premier hate group, the Southern Poverty Law Center, laughably insists the answer is yes and that it’s getting worse under President Donald Trump. In its newest Intelligence Report (try not to laugh), the SPLC calculates that the number of “hate” groups in the U.S. supposedly increased for the fourth consecutive year in 2018. Citing the report, The New York Times warns, “The law center said the number of hate groups rose by 7 percent last year to 1,020, a 30 percent jump from 2014. That broadly echoes other worrying developments, including a 30 percent increase in the number of hate crimes reported to the F.B.I. from 2015 through 2017 and a surge of right-wing violence that the Anti-Defamation League said had killed at least 50 people in 2018.”

U.S. News & World Report laid bare the blame game with the headline “Trump ‘Fear-Mongering’ Fuels Rise of U.S. Hate Groups to Record.” Clearly, this SPLC report is political, not an honest assessment.

Two points about reports from the FBI and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). First, as we observed in November, the reason “hate” crimes are supposedly on the rise is because hundreds more law-enforcement agencies have begun reporting such a category. So if that category is to be taken seriously instead of dismissed as political and subjective, all it means is that we’re now keeping count. Second, assume for a moment that the leftist ADL’s numbers are even remotely accurate (they’re not). Fifty murders is 50 too many for any reason, but blacks kill 50 other blacks in American inner cities every week. Is it a worse crime when the race of the perpetrator is white?

That brings us back to the SPLC. The organization is a tax-exempt, charitable organization with an endowment of $432.7 million. This war chest is used to tabulate a few actually hateful groups, but much of the organization’s very uncharitable efforts are spent serving as a bludgeoning tool for the Leftmedia and the Democrat Party. Why else would the Family Research Council and the Alliance Defending Freedom be listed as “hate” groups? Or why would the SPLC warn about “members of Congress who traffic in hate and extremism” but only include Republicans and not, for example, actual anti-Semite Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar? A qualification for this political hate? Opposing same-sex marriage, just as Barack scumbag/liar-nObama did until 2012.

Despite — or rather because of — all this political chicanery, the SPLC is routinely cited by Leftmedia outlets as a “nonpartisan” and “objective” source for tracking hate in America. That is the essence of fake news. ~The Patriot Post

Those surveys, the "Never Trumpers" argue, show that Trump is particularly weak and vulnerable to a serious primary challenge. The problem is that it is common for voters to say they are open to a primary challenge to the president of their own party. It happened to former President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama in 2010-2011, before scumbag/liar-nObama went on to win re-election. It also happened to scumbag/liar-Bill Clinton in 1994-1995, before scumbag/liar-Clinton went on to win re-election. It did not happen to George W. Bush in 2002-2003, but that was because of strong Republican support for a wartime president. In other words, today's poll results about President Trump are not at all unusual. Talk about a primary challenge to scumbag/liar-nObama intensified around the 2010 midterms, when Democrats lost 63 seats in the House in an election scumbag/liar-nObama conceded was a "shellacking." The idea that scumbag/liar-nObama might face a challenge had been around since his divisive 2008 primary battle with scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton. Democratic strategist Ed Kilgore wrote in the New Republic that by 2010 those tensions had "gotten worse with the rise of the 'angry left,' which thinks scumbag/liar-nObama has been too eager to compromise with Wall Street and Republicans, and considers itself the representative of the Democratic base." Venezuelan Dictator Maduro Blocks Humanitarian Aid

by Thomas Gallatin: Violence erupted over the weekend at several Venezuelan border crossings as the country’s socialist dictator, Nicolas Maduro, ordered that humanitarian food and medical aid be blocked from entering the country. One of the more dramatic incidents took place on the Simon Bolivar bridge between Colombia and Venezuela, where Maduro-backed troops fired tear gas and rubber bullets into a crowd of protesting Venezuelans and set several aid trucks on fire. Thus far the violence has claimed the lives of two Venezuelans, with 29 others suffering bullet wounds and a total of 285 people injured.

Reacting to the violence, interim President Juan Guaido, who has been recognized by the U.S. and at least 50 other democratic nations as Venezuela’s legitimate leader, stated, “Today’s events force me to make a decision: to formally propose to the international community that we must have all options open to secure the freedom of our country that is fighting and will continue to fight. Hope was born not to die, Venezuela!”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressed his disgust with Maduro’s actions and reiterated America’s commitment to stand with the people of Venezuela: “We denounce Maduro’s refusal to let humanitarian assistance reach Venezuela. What kind of a sick tyrant stops food from getting to hungry people? The images of burning trucks filled with aid are sickening.” He added, “While Guaido leads the effort to get the aid to the people, Maduro sends armed gangs to attack innocent civilians.”

Vice President Mike Pence is scheduled to meet today with Guiado and the regional Lima Group of nations to offer further support and help decide what actions should be taken to increase the pressure on Maduro to step down. President Donald Trump has not ruled out military intervention, although it appears that the immediate response will be increased sanctions.

What is truly interesting — and almost comical if the situation weren’t so dire — is the attempt of leftists such as Vermont Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders to distance themselves and their socialist ideology from the socialist-created disaster that is Venezuela. On Saturday, commie-Sanders, who has long praised the socialist takeover of Venezuela, stated, “The people of Venezuela are enduring a serious humanitarian crisis. The Maduro government must put the needs of its people first, allow humanitarian aid into the country, and refrain from violence against protesters.” There would have been no need for the once-wealthy Venezuela to need humanitarian aid today had it not embraced the economy- and freedom-destroying ideology of socialism, but commie-Sanders can’t admit that fact.

Senate Democrats Block Bill to Stop Infanticide

The Senate voted 53-44 against ending the filibuster and allowing a debate and vote on the bill itself. Every Republican present voted to end the filibuster, along with Democrats Joe Manchin, Bob Casey and Doug Jones, while all other Democrats voted agaisnt the bill. Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, who supports abortion, did not vote — hurting the effort to collect the 60 votes necessary. Pro-life Republican Senators Tim Scott and Kevin Cramer were unable to attend the vote due to flight delays but would have voted to support the bill. Every Democrat senator running for president — lowlife-Kamala Harris, scumbag-Cory Booker, Elizabeth dinky-Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand and commie-Bernie Sanders — voted to block the anti-infanticide bill. Druing the debate, several Democrats misled the Senate about the bill and falsely claimed the measure would ban abortions or ban late-term abortions. They made the usual pro-abortion claims that pro-life lawmakers hate women or somehow abortion is women’s health. Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska grew increasingly frustrated as the debate went on about the false claims abortion advocates made about the anti-infanticide legislation. “I know a lot of opponents of this bill sincerely believe the talking points that they read from their staffs. We’ve heard speech after speech after speech that have nothing to do with what’s actually in this bill,” he said. “I urge my colleagues to picture a baby that’s already been born, that’s outside the womb gasping for air. Buoyed by victory, Joan felt that she could win in any situation. She fought to retake Paris but failed. She fought again at nearby Compiegne and was captured. And if you can be demonized for supporting such a position—as almost every Democrat presidential hopeful, all of whom oppose the Pass Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, does—it’s only because you have fully earned it. But judging from the media’s reaction, Democrats are most apprehensive about being portrayed as “socialists,” which one expects isn’t as popular, even theoretically speaking, in suburban areas or Middle America as it is among the blue-check Twitterati and journalists in urban newsrooms. North Carolina Board Orders

New Election in Tainted House Race

The ruling came on the fourth day of the board’s hearing to investigate allegations of absentee voter fraud orchestrated by a political operative on GOP candidate Mark Harris’s payroll during last year’s midterm election. Harris held a 905-vote lead over Democrat Dan McCready in the unofficial tally that a previous election board declined to certify. Harris on Thursday abruptly reversed his earlier request that the November result be certified, instead urging a new election. At the end of his testimony, Harris said medical issues he experienced last month affected his recollection of events. “It’s become clear to me that the public’s confidence in the 9th district seat general election has been undermined to an extent that a new election is warranted,” Harris told the board. "Through the testimony I’ve listened to over the past three days, I believe a new election should be called.”... If a dem would of won would there be a new vote?

Are Current Immigration Numbers Too High?

by Political Editors: It’s no secret that conservatives and, more specifically, President Donald Trump’s supporters are fed up with the federal government’s decades’ long lackluster record in preventing and combating illegal immigration. In fact, Trump’s promise to tackle the problem by constructing a border wall played largely in his winning the election, and it has remained a front-and-center political issue as Democrats aim to obstruct Trump.

One immigration issue that has received less coverage: Questions about the nation’s current legal-immigration numbers. In other words, just how many individuals are immigrating to the U.S. each year, and what impact has this had upon the country overall?

In an article in National Review, Steven Camerota of the Center for Immigration Studies highlights what he sees as the most important immigration issue — that question of numbers. He writes, “The reason numbers are by far the most important immigration issue is that all the effects of immigration stem directly from the scale of immigration — cultural, political, social, economic, and fiscal. And the scale of contemporary immigration is truly enormous. The latest data indicate that there are about 45 million legal and illegal immigrants — roughly 34 million of whom are legal. About 1.7 million new legal and illegal immigrants settle in the country each year. The total number of immigrants (legal and illegal) in the country has doubled since 1990, tripled since 1980, and quadrupled since 1970. As a share of the population, about one in seven U.S. residents is now a legal or illegal immigrant — the highest percentage in 107 years. The Census Bureau projects the immigrant share will surpass the highest level ever in American history in eight years if we choose to continue current policy.”

Camerota argues the two biggest areas of impact for immigration are economic and cultural. On economic impact, he points out, “There is no labor shortage when real wages are no higher now than they were in 1978. Sure, unemployment is historically low, yet most people realize this is not the whole story. … At the end of 2018, 54.3 million working-age Americans (ages 16 to 64, excluding prisoners) were out of the labor force entirely. … The overall labor-force participation rate, the share who are working or looking for work, has not changed that much in recent years, especially for Trump voters — native-born people without a college degree.”

Secondly, the growing problem of too many new immigrants has effectively overwhelmed and slowed down the necessary assimilation process into American culture. Camerota points out that most Trump voters “do not think immigrants are bad people. But they do know in many parts of America now, there are so many immigrants that the incentive to learn English or adopt American culture is greatly reduced.”

This is an issue that needs to be honestly and soberly addressed, not simply written off as the nonsense concerns of bigots and racists, as the mainstream media is quick to do. ~The Patriot Post

CBO Grossly Overestimated Uninsured

by Jordan Candler: “Scandalously off.” Those are the words the Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein used to describe claims from the Congressional Budget Office regarding the anticipated effect of ObamaCare’s individual mandate.

Recall that the individual mandate was the motor around which everything else supposedly revolved. “CBO estimates about the importance of an individual mandate to a national healthcare scheme prodded President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama into including the unpopular provision into the law in the first place,” Klein writes. Moreover, in 2017, during which Republicans were attempting to repeal and replace scumbag/liar-nObamaCare, the CBO doubled down by claiming the number of insured would drop by 14 million (and eventually more) — most of which “would stem from repealing the penalties associated with the individual mandate,” the CBO claimed.

Except the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, almost as an afterthought, has exposed the fallaciousness of those estimates. “In what was literally a footnote in its annual report on national health spending projections, actuaries for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Wednesday estimated that the elimination of the individual mandate would have a significantly smaller impact than the CBO has long estimated,” Klein says. “Specifically, the CMS report revealed that 2.5 million more people would go without insurance in 2019 due to the repeal of the individual mandate’s penalties, and the impact would be ‘smaller’ thereafter.”

There’s already evidence to support this conclusion. scumbag/liar-nObamaCare enrollment this year tallied 8.4 million, which isn’t all that far off from the 8.7 million who enrolled in 2018. “Given the outsized influence that the CBO has on policymaking in Washington,” Klein says, “the CBO’s misfire on the individual mandate should be a major story.” Scandalous indeed.

Exit question: Would Republican health reform have passed if the ludicrous accounting from the CBO’s snake-oil salesmen was left out of the equation? That’s a question worth asking centrist lawmakers.

Liberals outnumber conservatives

That’s a drop of 30 percent from the previous survey, which found nine states where liberals have the edge, the Washington Examiner reported... The six states are Massachusetts, Hawaii, Vermont, Washington, New York and New Hampshire. Additionally, in California conservatives and liberals split 29 percent to 29 percent. Nationwide, Gallup said, those who identify themselves conservative hold a nine-point lead. Gallup noted, however, conservatives previously had a 21 point lead, and some state figures fall within the margin of error. Gallup said that in 25 states, the conservative advantage is significantly greater than the national average. Jerusalem Police on Sunday arrested the east Jerusalem Wakf chairman Sheikh Abdel Azim Salhab, and Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat, deputy director of the Wakf. The Jerusalem Wakf Islamic religious trust was instituted by Jordan after Israel’s War of Independence and is best known for controlling and managing the current Islamic edifices on and around the Temple Mount. The east Jerusalem Wakf is controlled by Jordan. Jordanian Minister for Wakf Affairs Abdel Nasser Abu al Basal strongly condemned the arrests, calling them a “dangerous and serious escalation.” The minister also warned that the arrests would harm Jordan’s role as custodian of the holy shrines in Jerusalem.

Now that the deal is dead, instead of Amazon being able to keep $3 billion of what it earns as a temporary incentive to bring thousands of jobs and many billions of dollars in future tax revenue to the area, there will be zip, zero, nada for progressives to "invest" given that's all they really care about. I wonder if commie-Ocasio-Cortez will take a vow of poverty, put her current lack of money where her mouth is, and fight the urge to magically turn her $170K-per-year salary into multi-millions while producing nothing before she finally exits Congress. Here on the West Coast, after Trump declared a state of emergency, Governor Newsom rushed into the spotlight with his A.G. and promised to sue the Trump administration for diverting funds and "hurting California." No word from Newsom on the harm the $77-billion train boondoggle or $23 billion spent yearly on illegal immigration enough to pay every public school teacher more than $75K per year has done to California...

Behind the Left's 'Free College' Mantra

by Thomas Gallatin: Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders (Socialist-VT) was the first to call for what has fast become an obligatory policy position for all current Democrat presidential contenders — “free” college. As with health care, Democrats’ call for free college is a play for the votes of recent college graduates who find themselves saddled with thousands in college debt. Much of that debt is due to the steep increase in tuition costs seen over the past three decades — an increase that has outpaced the rate of inflation. CNBC reports that the average annual tuition cost at a public four-year institution for the 1987-1988 school year was $3,190 (adjusted to reflect 2017 dollars) while the average for the 2017-2018 was $9,970, an increase of 129%. For private nonprofit four-year institutions, the numbers are even worse with an increase over the same time period of 213%. In other words, the increasing cost of college is not a myth, so it’s understandable that Democrats would add this to their litany of “free stuff.”

But there’s a bigger picture here than simply seeing this as Democrats blatantly seeking the college vote. Back in 2011, Harvard business professor Clayton Christensen made the somewhat startling prediction that “50% of the 4,000 colleges and universities in the U.S. will be bankrupt in 10 to 15 years.” And Christensen was not the only one to sound the alarm, as the U.S. Department of Education and Moody’s Investors Service also projected that over the coming years the “closure rates of small colleges and universities will triple, and mergers will double.”

Thus far, the closure rates among four-year colleges and universities have ticked up slightly, but as Michael Horn writes in Forbes, “The total number of mergers and acquisitions from just 2010-2017 has doubled the activity that occurred in the prior decade, which further suggests that the Moody’s projections may be conservative.” Horn further points out that a combination of decreasing student enrollment, increasing online-program enrollment, and the fact that “at least 25% of private colleges now running deficits … and public colleges … expenses have outpaced revenue the past three years” is “a recipe for disaster.”

So, back to Democrats and their free college mantra. What Democrats are really after is the socializing of higher education. By doing so, they would prevent those fiscally untenable institutions from going under — via the taxpayer — while at the same time insuring that these enclaves of leftist ideology are enabled, without market constraints, to continue indoctrinating America’s youth. ~The Patriot Post

It appears Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) may be a wishful disbeliever of the world. Both formal investigations have confirmed President Donald Trump is cleared; violated no collusion or crime with Russia involving the 2016 Presidential Election.

That is, it appears all participants have cleared President Trump except one; Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA). It appears Schiff acts as a lone attack dog for Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. Rep. Schiff’s versions as he expresses on TV are, somewhat contrary to the facts as found by both of the two investigations.

President Trump has consistently said he did nothing wrong. It appears President Trump was and is consistently telling the truth.

After some 2 years of Special Counsel Robert Mueller and a Senate Committee investigating President Trump with any involvement with Russia attempting to sway the 2016 Presidential Election, the Senate and Special Counsel Robert Mueller has concluded there was ‘NO’ crime committed by President Trump.

Evidence show that Candidate Hillary Clinton and her campaign may have participated in with Russia and their efforts to sway the 2016 Presidential Election.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller had 17 investigators; 13 hardened Democrats, 4 Unaffiliated, and -0- Republicans to investigate President Donald Trump and his alleged collusion with a Russia/Trump effort to swing the 2016 Presidential Election.

Mueller is a ‘registered’ Republican. Of the 17 other investigators, 9 of the 17 investigators made donations to Democrats; 6 donated to Hillary Clinton. One contributed to Republicans.

After some 2 years investigating President Trump and his part in a Russia involvement of swaying the 2016 Presidential Election, ALL investigations now conclude there was and is NO COLLUSION AND NO CRIME.

The measure is expected to pass the Democratic-held House but will need to win GOP support to get through the Senate. Several GOP senators have expressed opposition to Trump’s emergency declaration, warning it could set a precedent for a future president to declare an emergency to circumvent Congress on another issue, such as climate change or gun control. As a result, it’s possible Democrats in the Senate could win the handful of votes needed to pass the measure. It was believed by some that President Trump would be reluctant to veto a bill that had Republican support. Hypocrite Nancy Pulosi Refuses To Release

Pulosi’s Chief of Staff Drew Hammill told CNSNews that Pulosi “will gladly release her tax returns if and when she runs for president.” As she is about to be 79-years-old next month the prospect of her running for president is highly unlikely. But, as stated, she is third in line for the presidency and if she wants others to show their tax returns she should lead by example...

The Department of Mis-Education

by Brian Mark Weber: At the end of each school year, children often recite the traditional American proverb, “no more pencils, no more books, no more teachers’ dirty looks.” But how about no more Department of Education? Could there be a more deceptive euphemism than the name given to this gargantuan federal bureaucracy, which has done so little to help our kids and their teachers succeed?

At one time, there was hope. In 1980, Ronald Reagan campaigned on abolishing the Department of Education, though he didn’t succeed in doing so. Even in the 1990s, the Republican Party platform included strong and clear language stating that education decisions belong to schools, teachers, parents, and communities instead of Washington bureaucrats. But less than a decade later, George W. Bush embraced a federal government role in education when he pushed for, and successfully implemented, Ted Kennedy’s No Child Left Behind Act.

For conservatives, all hope seemed to be lost. But then Donald Trump became the first president since Reagan to assertively take on the behemoth DOE by promising to return more power to states and local jurisdictions. In 2017, President Trump signed the Education Federalism Executive Order designed to begin removing the federal government from K-12 education. Unfortunately, little has changed.

Notwithstanding the fact that there are some good people with good intentions at the DOE, even the Government Accountability Office recently identified some serious problems within the department. These include oversight and monitoring, data quality, capacity, and methodological limitations.

That’s an official way of saying that the very people charged with determining how and what your children learn in the classroom are making these decisions in a completely dysfunctional environment. How do they know what’s best for our kids if they can’t even manage their own affairs in Washington?

But don’t think the debate over federal funding of education is a Left-Right issue. Democrat and Republican administrations alike share blame for entangling schools across the country in a web of government mandates and policies. Sure, school districts can opt out of some of these schemes, but they’ll lose federal funding. And despite President Trump’s promises, the situation looks bleak.

Vicki E. Alger writes at The Federalist, “The Trump administration proposed merging the education and labor departments last June to streamline education programs and minimize bureaucracy. The plan was met with bipartisan criticism including by members of several conservative education organizations.”

The criticism from conservatives is well-founded. Merging the departments of Labor and Education may feel and sound efficient, but we’d still end up with a large, complex bureaucracy unable to function in a manner consistent with the vision and values of parents and educators at the state and local levels. And who wants Labor Department officials making decisions about education?

One of the organizations upset over the president’s failure to curtail federal involvement in education is U.S. Parents Involved in Education (USPIE), which blamedPresident Trump for using “the hammer of the federal government to broaden its authority and disregard the rights of states and parents.”

Additionally, USPIE remains concerned that Trump has not worked more to tackle Common Core. In fact, since appointing Betsy DeVos, considered by many to be a top-down educator, Trump has abandoned his pledge to taken on Common Core. Additionally, USPIE is troubled over DeVos’s support of the United Nations education agenda and the fact that she threatened to withhold money from states if they didn’t comply with federal mandates.

Of the total education budget, the federal government only provides about 8% of the funding for K-12 schools and programs. But there’s a major string attached once that first federal dollar is accepted. In return for federal funding, schools have had to agree to a laundry list of policies made by Washington bureaucrats instead of local school boards, parents, and taxpayers.

It’s no wonder that school-choice programs and homeschooling options are becoming more popular all across the country. After all, the key decisions about how our children are educated should remain in the hands of those who know our kids best. ~The Patriot Post

One of the greatest absurdities of the so-called New Green Deal proposed then backed away from by socialist-inclined Democrats, is the idea that the nation’s transportation needs can be met by building high-speed rail everywhere – and getting rid of cars and airplanes... After 11 years no track has been laid upon which any type of train has rolled, and no one can with a straight face give a date when that might happen... Iran: Mounting Persecution of Christians

{gatestoneinstitute.org} ~ The persecution of Christians in Iran in 2018 increased to a new level, according to an in-depth report jointly released by Open Doors, Middle East Concern, Article 18, and Christian Solidarity Worldwide... "The end of 2018 saw an unprecedented wave of raids on private house gatherings, leading to a large number of arrests. Many Christians received prison sentences, or had sentences upheld by the Court of Appeal," noted the report. Despite this roaring abuse, and violations and attacks against Christians being significantly ratcheted up, the international community continues to label the Iranian government, run by President Hassan Rouhani, as "moderate. What is puzzling is that while the Iranian authorities boast that Christians and other religious minorities are treated fairly under Islam, the Iranian regime is, in fact, increasingly targeting Christians solely for daring peacefully to practice their faith. Even though these actions are frequently documented, their claims do not match up with the ever-increasing numbers of arrests and punishments suffered by those practicing a religion other than Islam. For example, in a single recent week, more than 100 Christians were arrested. There was also an unprecedented "surge during November and December 2018 as arrests were reported in the cities of Ahvaz, Chalus, Damavand, Hamedan, Hashtgerd, Karaj, Mashhad, Rasht, Shahinshahr and Tehran. SCOTUS: States Subject to Limits on

Seizure, Too

by Michael Swartz: While numerous high-profile Supreme Court cases have been decided by the narrowest of 5-4 margins, every so often there comes a slam-dunk case so egregious that the High Court’s right and left wings unite. In this case, all but two concurred with an opinion written by … Ruth Bader Ginsburg. We’ll return to the reasoning for the concurring but different opinions of justices Neil Gorsuch and Clarence Thomas a little later.

At question in the case of Timbs v. Indiana: How far is too far when it comes to asset forfeiture by authorities? As the Ginsburg opinion queried: “Is the Eighth Amendment’s Excessive Fines Clause an ‘incorporated’ protection applicable to the States under the Fourteenth Amendment’s Due Process Clause? Like the Eighth Amendment’s proscriptions of ‘cruel and unusual punishment’ and ‘[e]xcessive bail,’ the protection against excessive fines guards against abuses of government’s punitive or criminal law-enforcement authority.”

The case stemmed from the 2015 arrest of Indiana resident Tyson Timbs, who eventually pleaded guilty to selling heroin to an undercover police officer. While Timbs was sentenced to house arrest and five years’ probation, the state also seized a 2012 Land Rover Timbs had purchased with proceeds from his late grandfather’s life insurance policy. The car, valued at $42,000, was worth over quadruple what the maximum fine for the offense would have been, and that disparity was ruled by two lower Indiana state courts to be excessive.

However, the state appealed to the Indiana Supreme Court, and it overruled the lower courts on their belief that the prohibition on excessive fines found in the Constitution only applied to the federal government — thus, the state of Indiana was within its rights under forfeiture law to seize Timbs’ asset despite it not having been purchased with illegally obtained funds. They argued that, since Timbs had transported the heroin with the car, it was fair game for seizure.

But the state’s case before the Supreme Court was weak from the start, leaving the solicitor general to defend a hypothetical seizure of a luxury car for the offense of driving five miles an hour over the speed limit. Thus, a 9-0 whitewash wasn’t really a surprise.

While both Gorsuch and Thomas agreed with the final decision, Gorsuch added a one-page concurrence that considered whether the case should have been decided based on the Privileges or Immunities Clause rather than by the Due Process clause. Thomas took the point further, writing his own separate opinion that harshly criticized the “due process” logic:

Because the oxymoronic “substantive” “due process” doctrine has no basis in the Constitution, it is unsurprising that the Court has been unable to adhere to any “guiding principle to distinguish ‘fundamental’ rights that warrant protection from nonfundamental rights that do not.” … And because the Court’s substantive due process precedents allow the Court to fashion fundamental rights without any textual constraints, it is equally unsurprising that among these precedents are some of the Court’s most notoriously incorrect decisions … [including] Roe v. Wade[and] Dred Scott v. Sandford.

Thomas’s concurrence, which provides much of the second half of the 26-page opinion, provides a good history lesson on the evolution of law against excessive fines.

Not only was Justice Thomas’s concern regarding proper precedent not answered completely, but as the Wall Street Journal editorial board pointed out, the Timbs decision also left as a mystery just how outrageous a fine had to be to merit consideration as “excessive.” Surely — and unfortunately — this question will be left to play out in the legal system over the coming years.

The battle over excessive fines, though, is only a small part in the tug-of-war that has pitted law-and-order prosecutors who believe asset forfeiture is a deterrent to crime against civil libertarians who believe it’s a “gigantic law-enforcement scam,” with seizures of significant assets possible under the most circumstantial of evidence.

As our own Arnold Ahlert wrote in 2017, it’s “a process whereby government can seize property and cash they suspect is related to the commission of a crime” [emphasis added]. Note the word “suspect,” which is far different than the word “prove.” Unfortunately, the burden of proof in forfeiture cases is placed on the accused, who have to fight the unlimited resources of the government in order to reclaim what is legally theirs.

Tyson Timbs certainly doesn’t fit the profile of a hero, but he dared to make a stand against government overreach and scored a rare victory. Let’s hope it brings new awareness to the frequent abuses of a system that was supposed to ensure crime didn’t pay but instead became a cash cow for local and state governments. ~The Patriot Post

{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ A new report from government actuaries has revealed that the Congressional Budget Office was scandalously off in its estimates of the impact of scumbag/liar-nObamacare's individual mandate... a miscalculation that has had significant ramifications for healthcare and tax policy over the past decade. CBO estimates about the importance of an individual mandate to a national healthcare scheme prodded President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama into including the unpopular provision into the law in the first place. The mandate projections also played a key role in President Trump's two major legislative initiatives. The fact that the CBO assumed 14 million could lose coverage mainly due to the elimination of mandate penalties helped kill the effort to repeal and replace scumbag/liar-nObamacare, while its later assumption that 13 million fewer insured individuals would mean less spending on subsidies from the federal government helped get the 2017 Republican tax cut across the finish line by improving the budgetary math. Yet those incredibly influential estimates now appear to have been wildly off. In what was literally a footnote in its annual report on national health spending projections, actuaries for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Wednesday estimated that the elimination of the individual mandate would have a significantly smaller impact than the CBO has long estimated. Specifically, the CMS report revealed that 2.5 million more people would go without insurance in 2019 due to the repeal of the individual mandate's penalties, and the impact would be "smaller" thereafter. When scumbag/liar-nObamacare was being debated in 2009, CBO and other outside experts believed that the mandate was a necessary tool for convincing younger and healthier individuals to purchase insurance to offset the cost of covering older and sicker enrollees in any kind of national healthcare scheme. So important was the mandate to CBO's analysis that scumbag/liar-nObama was forced to embrace the idea, even though he opposed it during the 2008 campaign and it made the legislation less popular. It also would eventually imperil the whole law at the Supreme Court...

Over the years, she earned a reputation for fearless reporting while embedded in troops in Afghanistan and Iraq during the War on Terror. She was also prone to going rogue and seeking out information in dangerous locales. She suffered an attack and sexual assault while reporting on the removal of then-Egyptian Pres. Hosni Mubarak and spent four days in the hospital recovering. Following the Benghazi Attacks, a “60 Minutes” segment she pieced together differed from the FBI and scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton State Department’s official version. She was forced to apologize when a source recanted parts of his story. But her candid remarks on the subject put her in the scumbag/liar-Clinton machine crosshairs. “I made one comment about Benghazi,” Logan reportedly said. “I was targeted by Media Matters for America, which was an organization established by David Brock, who has dedicated himself to the scumbag/liar-Clintons. That States Cannot Impose Excessive Fines

No matter which state you live in, every level of government must now abide by the federal Constitution’s guarantee that property owners will be safe from excessive fines and forfeitures. “The historical and logical case for concluding that the Fourteenth Amendment incorporates the Excessive Fines Clause,” wrote Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg for the Court, “is overwhelming.” Indiana resident Tyson Timbs is at the center of this legal fight. His road to the U.S. Supreme Court began shortly after his father died, when he received more than $70,000 in life-insurance proceeds and bought a new car. For years, Tyson had struggled with drug addiction; a painkiller prescription had escalated to heroin abuse. Soon after buying his new car, Tyson sold four grams of heroin to fund his addiction. The purchasers were undercover officers, and police arrested Tyson. They seized his car too. Tyson pleaded guilty to one count of drug dealing, which led to house arrest, then probation, and $1,200 in related fees. Most importantly, the arrest was a wake-up call for Tyson. ISIS Bride Hoda Muthana: Birthright Citizenship?

by Mark Alexander: Hoda Muthana, the daughter of a foreign diplomat, was born in the United States in 1994. Her father, Ahmed Ali Muthana, who subsequently became a U.S. citizen the old-fashioned way — legally — was formerly a Yemeni diplomat. Four years ago, Hoda left the U.S. to join with Islamic State fighters in Syria.

She married an ISIS terrorist and supported the jihadis’ brutal slaughter of innocent men, women, and children. Now that ISIS is nearing defeat (not to suggest its ideology will ever be defeated), Hoda has decided that maybe Alabama would be a better place to raise her son than the ruins of a Syrian desert.

This is setting up a legal battle that may shed some light on who is and, more importantly, who is not entitled to U.S. citizenship.

On 16 February, Donald Trump said, “The United States is asking Britain, France, Germany and other European allies to take back over 800 ISIS fighters,” in order that they be tried as terrorists and held accountable for their crimes against humanity. But in Hoda’s case, Trump says, “I have instructed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and he fully agrees, not to allow Hoda Muthana back into the Country.”

According to Secretary Pompeo, “She may have been born here but she is not a U.S. citizen, nor is she entitled to U.S. citizenship.” He insists Hoda “will not be admitted into the United States,” because “she does not have any legal basis, no valid U.S. passport, no right to a passport, nor any visa to travel to the United States.”

The administration is arguing that Hoda is subject to the “diplomatic blue list” rule, which excludes her from any right to citizenship because her father was a diplomat at the time of her birth. According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services guidelines, children not born to parents who were “subject to the jurisdiction of the United States,” as stipulated in the 14th Amendment, including diplomats, are not entitled to citizenship.

Hoda’s father is now suing the government for repatriation of his daughter, arguing that he had been discharged from his diplomatic status by the time of her birth. He also says she was issued a U.S. passport in 2004, which could well have been a bureaucratic error. Muthana and his wife were here legally at the time of Hoda’s birth, but not as diplomats and, thus, she is not subject to the diplomat exclusion.

This case sets up what could be a consequential legal battle over the issue of so-called “birthright citizenship,” which has never been established as a “right” but rather an assumption. In this case, it will bring into focus the question of whether children born to those legally in the United States have a right to citizenship, at a time when there is an assumption of “birthright citizenship” for those born to parents illegally in our country.

As I have previously thoroughly documented in regard to “birthright citizenship,” the plain language of our Constitution’s 14th Amendment has been contorted by leftist Democrat Party leaders to comport with their contemporary political agenda. This contortion exercise is consistent with their insistence that the Rule of Law enshrined in our Constitution is subordinate to their errant notion of a “living constitution” that means whatever they want it to mean.

The 14th Amendment does not establish a right to citizenship for those born here to illegal aliens, because their parents were not “subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.” Will this case finally provide that clarification?

And a footnote for all those advocating incarceration at Gitmo – please no! I do not want my tax dollars supporter this millennial ISIS wannabe.

Trump nominates Kelly Craft as UN ambassador

Kelly Craft will be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, President Trump announced Friday. Craft has served as ambassador to Canada. “Kelly has done an outstanding job representing our Nation and I have no doubt that, under her leadership... our Country will be represented at the highest level,” Trump said in a tweet. The position was left vacant last year by Nikki Haley, who stepped down after two years as one of the nation’s top diplomats. Trump said he planned to nominate State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert in December, but her nomination was never officially sent to the Senate for a confirmation vote. She withdrew her name from consideration earlier this month over her employment of a nanny who was in the U.S. legally but not was legally allowed to work. Nauert was the State Department spokeswoman since April 2017 and is not expected to return to her role there.

{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ The Trump administration posted a final rule Friday that would require family planning clinics to be housed in separate buildings from abortion clinics, a move that would cut off Planned Parenthood from some federal funding... The rule applies to a $286 million-a-year grant, known as Title X, that pays for birth control, testing of sexually transmitted diseases, and cancer screenings for 4 million low-income people. It requires the "physical and financial" separation of family planning services and abortion. Federal funds are not permitted to go toward abortions except in the cases of rape, incest, or if a woman's pregnancy threatens her life. Abortion foes, however, have long fought for rules along the lines of the one advanced Friday because they say allocating federal funds toward clinics such as Planned Parenthood frees up additional funds to provide abortions. The organization receives between $50 million and $60 million from Title X. Planned Parenthood vowed to do everything it could to fight back, including through the courts. “Planned Parenthood will fight the Trump-Pence administration through every avenue so this illegal, unethical rule never goes into effect,” said Dr. Leana Wen, Planned Parenthood's president, speaking to reporters on a press call. A deadly shootout on Sunday took place between a cop and a Mexican national. During a routine traffic stop in Napa County, California, Javier Hernandez Morales, 48, attempted to shoot Napa County Sheriff’s Deputy Riley Jarecki. Jarecki was able to maneuver away and return fire, killing Hernandez Morales at the scene. Footage of the shootout was captured on the deputy sheriff’s body camera. Hernandez Morales, who had been living in the U.S. illegally, was no stranger to law enforcement. He had been deported back to his home country of Mexico twice in 2007 and once more in 2010. However, since that time, local law enforcement officials refused to work with ICE on deporting him again, despite various crimes. ICE lodged four different detainers for Hernandez Morales relating to battery of a peace officer, suspicion of driving while intoxicated, selling liquor to a minor and probation violations. The detainers, according to ICE, were sent to Napa County Jail in 2014, 2015 and 2016, and anther was issued to Sonoma County Jail in 2016. Staff honored none of the detainers, allowing Hernandez Morales to leave the county jails and remain in the U.S. ... Why are people so stupid.

Amazon Illuminates the Democrat Party Divide

by Arnold Ahlert: If one likes a salad of ignorance, arrogance, hypocrisy, cronyism, and the burgeoning divide between Democrat Party radicals and uber radicals, Amazon’s decision to abandon New York City is just the ticket.

We begin with ignorance and arrogance. America is now enduring at least two generations poisoned by an education system whose primary mission has been to convince them to hold their own nation — and the economic system that produced more wealth than any other in the history of mankind — in contempt.

Their poster child is commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the freshman representative and media darling now in approximately the 14th minute of her 15 minutes of fame. No one is happier that Amazon decamped, and she took to Twitter to let her 2.7 million followers know exactly where she stood. “Anything is possible: today was the day a group of dedicated, everyday New Yorkers & their neighbors defeated Amazon’s corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world,” she tweeted.

A couple of “inconvenient” realities intrude. First, according to a Siena College Research Institute poll, state voters backed the project by a 56% to 36% margin. As for worker “exploitation,” Amazon noted in November that salaries for those workers would have averaged over $150,000. For perspective’s sake, it should be noted that median household income hit a record high in 2017 — reaching $61,372. Moreover, there would have been a lot of jobs: Amazon promised to create 25,000 of them.

So what was the problem? This is where hypocrisy gets added to the mix. Despite the corporate giant’s promise to generate $27.5 billion in tax revenue over the next 25 years, Gov. Andrew evil-Cuomo, heartily supported by Mayor Bill de Blasio, promised Amazon $3 billion in taxpayer-funded subsidies to move to Long Island City in Queens. The original deal was for $2.5 billion in subsidies, with an additional $505 million if Amazon increased its job-creation count to 40,000 by 2034.

Tax subsidies for the richest man in the world? In a city and state where “soak the rich” is tantamount to gospel, the utter hypocrisy of using corporate welfare as an enticement is impossible to ignore. If lower-tax climates are attractive sometimes, why aren’t they attractive at all times — and for all businesses?

Government “picking winners and losers” is also the essence of crony capitalism, and no one illuminates it better than Nancy Bass-Wyden. She owns Strand Books, a business that has served New Yorkers since 1927. The same city that bent over backwards to help her giant competitor is poised to designate her bookstore a New York City landmark, a move Bass-Wyden insists could kill her business due to the restrictions and regulations attached to the designation. “Unlike Amazon, we have never asked for taxpayer-funded subsidies, tax breaks or special favors,” Wyden said. “All we want to do is to be left alone!”

Yet while hypocrisy is front and center, and provides commie-Ocasio-Cortez and her fan base with a legitimate argument, ignorance remains the order of the day. “If we were willing to give away $3 billion for this deal, we could invest $3 billion in our district ourselves if we want to,” AOC asserted. “We could hire more teachers.”

Uh, no. As columnist Allan Golombek is forced to explain, AOC and her followers believe “they have suddenly happened upon a stash of money, as though they found $3 billion under the couch cushion — miracle money that can now be spent on hospitals, schools and decaying subway lines.” The reality? “Rather than handing over a direct grant, [New York state and city] governments would simply forgive some taxes that otherwise wouldn’t be owed to them by anyone,” Golombek adds. “The end of the Amazon deal does not free up a horde of cash for the state and local governments, because they have no extra cash to free up.”

That’s an understatement. As New Yorkers learned recently, the state is facing a $2.3 billion budget deficit. Why? Gov. evil-Cuomo insists the 2017 GOP tax cut, placing a $10,000 cap on state and local taxes one can deduct from one’s federal tax burden, is the culprit. In other words, while ordinary New Yorkers were getting a tax break, the rich have been saddled with higher taxes. The very same higher taxes on the rich that Democrats all over the nation insist is the cure for all of our fiscal woes.

Unfortunately, reality bites. “Tax the rich, tax the rich, tax the rich. The rich leave, and now what do you do?” evil-Cuomo wonders.

The one thing blue states absolutely refuse to do: lower the overall tax rate — by lowering obscene levels of government spending.

How obscene? Last year New York state spent $153.1 billion to serve a population of 19.5 million people. By contrast, Florida — a state with no income tax — passed an $88.7 billion budget for fiscal year 2018-19 to serve 21.3 million people.

How can New York afford to spend 42% more money to service a population of 1.8 million fewer people? By treating wealthy New Yorkers like ATM machines. Hence, the rich leave New York — and, unsurprisingly, many of them go to Florida.

Nonetheless, the true believers remain unfazed by Amazon’s departure. “For decades, local politicians have felt pressure on only one side of this issue: To do whatever it takes to attract companies,” asserts New York Times columnist David Leonhardt. “As a result, those politicians have contributed, often unwittingly, to the radical rise in economic inequality. Amazon’s messy departure from New York is a victory for the other side.”

Which side is that? “The city has the country’s second-highest income tax, and Mr. de Blasio last month proposed that all private employers be required to provide workers two weeks of paid vacation each year,” The Wall Street Journal reports. “That’s on top of paid family leave. Animus toward business represses the organic investment and job growth that make a dynamic economy.”

Animus toward business is rapidly becoming a central plank of the Democrat Party’s agenda. Job-killing government regulation skyrocketed under the scumbag/liar-nObama administration, all while Democrats were asserting 2% economic growth was the “new normal.” That a 2014 National Association of Manufacturers report revealed regulatory costs on all businesses exceed $2 trillion — per year? Regulations that disproportionately affect small businesses? Small businesses that create a greater percentage of jobs than big businesses do?

Anyone think that contributes to the radical rise in economic inequality — without an iota of unwittingness attached to it?

Democrats are on the cusp of a civil war between politicians like evil-Cuomo and de Blasio, who see the future returns fueled by incentives as a net plus for their overtaxed state and city, and purists like commie-Ocasio-Cortez and Elizabeth dinky-Warren, who will accept nothing less than outright socialist/Marxist-inspired wealth confiscation, even if it kills the economy.

And while that divide is real, it’s only about one thing: how fast Democrats run out of other peoples’ money to spend.

Neither side engendered a business climate Amazon could abide.

Israel hopes to become the fourth country in the world to land a spacecraft on the moon, with the launch of the unmanned spacecraft Beresheet from Florida’s Cape Canaveral on Friday. If successful, the 160-kilogram 350 pounds without fuel, four-legged spacecraft, about the size of a car, will also be the smallest and cheapest spacecraft to land on the moon. But after the initial cheer, the room fell silent, engineers holding their breaths as the rocket escaped the earth’s atmosphere and reached an altitude of approximately 69,000 km (42,000 miles). At 4:23 a.m., another cheer went up as the command center in Yehud, where Israel Aerospace Industries is headquartered, received the first data from Beresheet as the spacecraft prepared to separate from the rocket. At 4:25 a.m., Beresheet separated from the Falcon 9 rocket that launched it into space, successfully deploying its landing legs in the first test of its ability to function under its own power. Arkansas governor signs 'trigger'

{thehill.com} ~ Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R) on Tuesday signed into a law a measure that would automatically ban abortion if the U.S. Supreme Court overturns its 1973 landmark Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion nationwide... Hutchinson’s office said the governor signed the legislation, making it the fifth state with the so-called triggered abortion ban bill, The Associated Press reported. The bills hinge on the belief that a more conservative Supreme Court could overturn its 46-year-old decision and return authority to legalize abortion to the states. The law bans most abortions except for medical emergencies if the country’s highest court were to overturn its previous decision. The state currently outlaws abortion 20 weeks into a pregnancy. Exceptions would not be allowed in cases of rape or incest, KUAR reported. The legislation was passed in the Republican-controlled state legislature last week. Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakota and South Dakota have similar “trigger” bans on the books. A similar measure has recently been introduced in Kentucky and Tennessee.

In a new Gallup survey, “Understanding Shifts in Democratic Party Ideology,” the organization attempts to discern an answer to what average Democrat voters think on a range of current issues. What researchers found is staggering, though it confirms what we’ve written for years:

This has occurred in three distinct phases: 1) 2001-2006, when the percentage was trending steadily upward; 2) 2007-2012, when liberalism held steady near 40% for several years in a row and 3) 2013-2018, when liberalism resumed its upward trajectory.
The percentage of Democrats identifying as politically liberal averaged 32% in the first period, 39% in the second and 46% in the third. At the same time, the percentages identifying as conservative and moderate fell equally.

Though all identity groups within the party have moved left, the starkest shift has been among college-educated whites — a testament to the stranglehold “progressives” have on the higher-education system because, Gallup notes, “the percentage of all college graduates (including postgrads) increas[ed] by 13 points.” Just 34% of that cohort identified as “liberal” in the early 2000s. Now it’s 54%. The shift is on issues running the gamut, too. Whether it’s gun control, climate change, or abortion, rank-and-file Democrats are moving left.

Democrat politicians have exploited and driven this shift. Remember a dozen years ago when the likes of Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton, and Chuck scumbag-Schumer supported border security and opposed same-sex marriage and single-payer health care? Heck, scumbag/liar-Bill Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act, the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (sponsored by then-Rep. scumbag-Schumer), and implemented “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.” Now, not only have those same politicians — and the entire party — shifted, but they utterly vilify anyone who hasn’t adopted the radical new positions of open borders, forcing bakers to serve same-sex weddings, and Medicare for All. In fact, the latter is practically a litmus test for the 2020 presidential field.

Pondering the fallout of this shift, National Review’s David French writes, “Any study of the political polarization in the 21st century has to account for the fact that it is extraordinarily difficult to achieve any kind of national consensus when one side is rapidly and constantly changing its demands. … The terms of the debate changed. The goalposts shifted.”

Indeed they have, and yet, somehow, leftists are even more angry than they were before all their victories. In any case, even with Donald Trump in the White House and the Senate under GOP control, Gallup’s findings portend trouble ahead for the cause of Liberty. ~The Patriot Post
