In Oklahoma recently we have had a Muslim behead one of his coworkers, and another Muslim attend a flight school after going to an al-Qaeda training camp. And now this. Oklahoma is becoming a jihad hotspot. Are we diverse enough yet?

Police suspect a religious discussion may have escalated into an argument that led to a stabbing at an apartment complex Wednesday morning.
After being dispatched to a report of a fight in progress at Wolf Run Apartments the morning of Feb. 7, officers of the Tahlequah Police Department arrested Ibrahim Alyami, 24, was arrested on complaints stemming from the stabbing incident.
Officer Brian Jordan and Officer Bronson McNeil arrived on scene and met Adam Wallace and Fahad Hamad Alsawidan outside one of the apartments. The officers reported seeing Wallace bleeding significantly from his right arm, with a shirt wrapped around it as a makeshift tourniquet.
Wallace claimed he had been stabbed, and described the suspect as a Middle Eastern male in a black jacket and denim jeans. Officers were dispatched with the description.
Wallace told police he was stabbed because he didn’t follow Islam, and that during the stabbing, the suspect yelled “Allah!” several times….

Linda Sarsour, the Muslim world’s loudest feminist mouth, and an open anti-Semite, said during a recent rally in Washington, D.C., that she was tired of “white men” like Sen. Chuck Schumer speaking about equality and civil rights on behalf of those of other races.

She made the comments during a rally that was called “A Day of Action Against Trump’s White Supremacy.”

And given Sarsour’s open hostility to Jews, the event was steeped in hypocrisy.

Anti-semite and pro-Palestinian activist Linda Sarsour wore her hat as the co-founder of the anti-Trump Women’s March at a rally in the nation’s capital on Wednesday, calling out President Donald Trump as a white supremacist and warning Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) as Congress negotiates immigration reform.
“I’m talking to Chuck Schumer,” Sarsour said. “I’m tired of white men negotiating on the backs of people of color and communities like ours.”
“We are not bargaining chips,” Sarsour said. “This is not a poker game.”
Despite the rally branded, “A Day of Action Against Trump’s White Supremacy,” Sarsour and other speakers expressed support for amnesty for not only the 800,000 illegal aliens protected from deportation under the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, but all of the estimated 11 million here illegally.
“This is human lives, and communities and families who deserve to live in these United States of America,” Sarsour said.
Cristina Jimenez, executive director and co-founder of United We Dream, which sponsored the event along with the Women’s March and other left-wing groups, said that amnesty should be for all of the “11 million” illegal aliens living in the United States.
“We are here for them all,” Jimenez said.
Sarsour also made disparaging remarks about Trump and his administration for enforcing federal immigration law, including the enforcement task given to Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE.
“So what makes this fight different?” Sarsour said. “You have a fascist in the highest office of this land who is running ICE, which has always been a rogue agency.”
“But now they’re acting like the Gestapo, bullying and picking people up in the middle of the night; dragging people away in front of schools, coming to the church.”
Sarsour admitted that her own family has benefited from coming to the United States as immigrants legally, but called the efforts to control illegal immigration “another horrific moment in this country” and criticized the country for its history.
“I also remember that I live in a country that was founded on the extermination of indigenous people,” Sarsour said.
The rally advertised on the United We Dream website blames Trump for the immigration debacle – even though he gave Congress months to come up with a legislative solution before the expiration of the DACA program, and conceded more to DACA recipients than the much tougher House bill, which only would offer amnesty for DACA recipients.
“From day one, Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda has ripped families apart,” the announcement said. “His latest proposal, crafted by political adviser Stephen Miller, pits immigrant youth against their parents, their family members, and other immigrant community members.”
The other groups sponsoring the rally include Good Jobs Nation, iAmerica Action, Bend the Arc Jewish Action, Center for Popular Democracy, United We Dream, National Domestic Workers Alliance, CASA, Make the Road New York, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Right, and Credo Mobile.

It's really a disgrace what is going on in Washington, DC. Congress shut the government down after midnight while they tried to get their act together on a budget. The five hour 29 minute shutdown from 12:01 to 5:30 am resulted in an agreement to keep things going for another six weeks and add who knows how much to the budget-we don't know without digging because the lame-stream media is more interested in covering the shutdown rather than the details of the budget. Buried in the 12th paragraph of a Reuters story, we find that these elected highwaymen added about $300 billion to the taxpayer burden. They are literally bleeding the American public dry in the cover of darkness while we sleep.

There are a handful of responsible people in Congress. Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was the ringleader of this shutdown because he and a small group of Republicans, who supported last year's tax reform, opposed the domestic spending increases in the budget bill. To get Democrats to support keeping the government open, the budget bill included increases in subsidized child care and helping dairy farmers in Vermont. The result is Republicans and Democrats pointing the finger at each other about being irresponsible with taxpayer money, the government stays open until they pass another budget bill, and you get to pay for every congressman's pet project that bought his vote.

Some (like me) say this is corruption. Others say, "don't be so naïve, it's politics." Either way, this is just a small part of the problem. Couple this with the organized crime that took place with the immediate past "president" and the Clintons, the obstruction of the current administration by members of its own party, the horrible visceral that governs any disagreement, and we have a real mess on our hands. Republicans are really bad; Democrats are far worse; and the system keeps perpetuating itself with candidates who are groomed to think the same way, towing the party line. Things need to be shaken up. As a witness to our Lord and Savior, those who feel the Lord has put it on their heart, should engage in this arena.

Not everyone is called to politics. Those who are can serve in many ways. They can be candidates, committee members, fundraisers, donors, volunteers and advisors. The need for the light of Christ in this area of darkness is tremendous. Common sense, ethics, morals, responsibility and accountability-all found in God's word-need to be re-established in our representative government. Currently, in both parties, there are those akin to what Christ describes in John 10:10, "The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy." They are wolves in sheep's clothing. We need good shepherds who would lay down their lives for the citizens and the nation to be a witness about what is just and right.

by Jordan Candler: The Pentagon has an accounting problem. It’s so bad that it has culminated in close to a billion dollars that auditors can’t trace. That’s based on an analysis by the prominent accounting firm Ernst & Young. After scrutinizing construction-related projects, the firm discovered that the Defense Logistics Agency, which represents “the Department of Defense’s combat logistics support agency,” botched satisfactorily documenting expenditures to the tune of $849 million.

Regular Patriot Post readers won’t find this surprising. In December 2016, our own Lewis Morris reported on liar-nObama’s Pentagon waste and outsourcing. Like his protégé liar-Hillary Clinton, liar-nObama and his administration in general were complicit in trying to quash inconvenient information, including an effort to suppress a Defense Business Board report that exposed $125 billion in wasteful and fraudulent spending at the Pentagon.
Like everything liar-nObama did, that was a calculated decision. As Morris wrote, “Remember the days of the sequester when liar-nObama was blaming Republicans for leaving our national defense vulnerable because of ‘reckless cuts’? Cuts that were his idea for political gain. Well, if the Pentagon had followed the Defense Business Board’s recommendations, it would have found the savings it needed to balance out the sequester cuts, which was what was intended at the time anyway. But liar-nObama opted instead to close DC memorials and national parks so as to score more political points.”
Detractors are quick to jump on the new Pentagon audit to make a broader point against the need for additional defense spending. The biggest problem with that position? Defense spending is constitutional, unlike many other federal programs on which taxpayer money is wasted. So we’re clear, however, just because defense spending is constitutional doesn’t mean the Pentagon doesn’t require regular audits. It is a government bureaucracy, after all. And on that note, Pentagon budget official David Norquist says, “Beginning in 2018, our audits will occur annually, with reports issued Nov. 15.” In other words, there appears to be an immediate and ongoing campaign to enact changes.
Furthermore, the Ernst & Young audit report could pay immediate dividends. As already stated, we dole out money to massive welfare programs whose very existence is unconstitutional — never mind the waste, fraud and abuse. Yet those programs don’t receive nearly the flack that the Defense Department does. And with all eyes on the Pentagon, it naturally feels more pressure to get its ducks in a row. That can only help to divert resources to where they are most needed. And our military readiness will improve as a result. ~The Patriot Post

Note: The following thought-provoking article revealed that the gun control crowd’s (mostly Liberals and Establishment politicians) only end game and goal apparently is to make our kids sitting ducks, take away our gun rights and use all school shootings and disasters to attack all the wrong and innocent people and, as a result, the author, who is also a mother, is alerting other mothers to wake up and take steps to deal with this emergency because allegedly the majority of our elected politicians, other than President Trump, don’t seem to understand and/or care about the national emergency we are facing with the growing danger our kids are in every day at school. The author is suggesting that we get people trained with concealed weapons peppered through the school by allowing teachers, Janitors or Coaches to get background checks and gun training, along with allowing them to have guns on them or accessible so, if another school shooting event starts, one of them can quickly take the killer out instead of 20 or 30 kids lying dead in a pool of blood because law enforcement officials can’t get there in a timely manner to deal with said emergency. In this latest school shooting incident in Florida allegedly several armed law enforcement officials were outside the school, but did not enter the school to deal with the suspected shooter before he killed 17 students (pertinent articles included below)? The Democrats have a bold plan for fighting Russia.

Accuse Republicans of treason, eavesdrop on their conversations and send them to jail. Overturn the outcome of a free election because that it had been tampered with by “foreign interests.” Demand that tech companies censor dissenting media outlets spreading “fake news” to protect “democracy”.

Good work, comrades. The bold plan is to fight Russia by… becoming Russia.

State surveillance, endless investigations and locking up political opponents under the guise of fighting foreign influences is how Vladimir Putin does business. It’s how they do it in Turkey, Venezuela and Iran.

But these days it’s how the Dems do it too.

Totalitarian states aren’t really fighting foreign influences. They’re suppressing domestic opponents. The Democrats, who were for appeasing Russia before they were against it, are doing the same thing.

The same gang of commissars, czars and apparatchiks that giggled when Obama wrote off Romney’s warning with, “the 80s called and wants their foreign policy back” now sees Russians under every sofa. Hollywood, which still weeps for the industry’s victims of McCarthyism, launched a “Committee to Investigate Russia” by Rob ‘Meathead’ Reiner and Morgan Freeman. After several months of trying, the Committee members have finally found Russia on a map and are ready to reveal their findings on CNN.

Do any of these people actually care about Russia?

What have they done to check Putin’s geopolitical ambitions? What do they plan to do about the Ukraine or Georgia? Nothing. Their administration dismantled missile defense and gave Moscow everything it wanted. If the Dems get back into the White House, they’ll do it all over again with even more uranium on top.

And CNN and the Washington Post will go back to claiming that weakness is really a strength.

Their only answer now is to mumble about sanctions. Sanctions were a favorite tool of the Obama administration because they were a mostly worthless excuse to do nothing. There was never any fallback plan for what to do if sanctions failed. And when they did fail, there was no Plan B.

All the CNN hawks and the Democrats who suddenly care about Russia still have no post-sanctions plan. They have a plan to get Trump out of the White House. They have no proposals for Putin or Russia.

The leftists who can’t stop “Russianing” all over the place don’t want to fight Russia. They’re using it as a pretext to go after other Americans. The “Committee to Investigate Russia” and the rest of it is a shoddy pretext to lock up Republicans by a political movement that has been appeasing Russia since the 1930s.

After almost a century of appeasement, the doves have suddenly turned into bellicose hawks. And they’re eager to do anything to stop Russia, except build up our military, but they will fight Putin to the last Republican. And they’ll go on fighting until they win another election and freedom dies for good.

If you believe them, Russia’s Facebook posts pose a greater threat to democracy than the entire Communist movement did during the Cold War. And Russian bots are a more dangerous weapon than the nuclear bomb. The ideological movement that protested the execution of the Rosenberg atom bomb traitors would like to send everybody who ever spoke to a Russian to prison for twenty years.

Locking up people for meeting with foreigners was the sort of thing they did back in the Soviet Union.

No mainstream political figure during the Cold War spoke seriously of removing the President of the United States from office. The one member of Congress whom we know spied for Russia, a Democrat, retired comfortably into the bosom of his party’s political machine. Senator Ted Kennedy, who sent a collusion letter to Moscow to prepare for his presidential bid, never suffered any consequences.

His great-nephew even delivered the Democrat response accusing Russia of being “knee deep” in our democracy.

But it’s the Democrats that are “knee deep” in tyranny.

The same political movement that believes that one of history’s greatest outrages was that a handful of Hollywood hacks had trouble getting work for a few years because they were Communists would like to remove the President of the United States because his son once talked to a Russian

The anti-Communists were trying to save us from Communism. What is Hollywood’s new McCarthyism trying to save us from? What ideology are they fighting and what terrible evil are they resisting?

That’s when they mumble something about “interference in our elections” and then go back to studying diagrams of Trump hotels in Kyrgyzstan or Alma-Ata. The interference consisted of $100K worth of Facebook ads and some hacked DNC emails. Or they call it in Chicago, Wednesday.

It was never about Russia.

Shouting “treason” isn’t how you fight foreigners, it’s how you delegitimize your political opponents. Sometimes they might be illegitimate traitors. But most of the time the traitor-shouters just want an excuse for getting rid of their political opponents. Domestic politics has limits. War doesn’t.

If your opponents are traitors, you can spy on them, entrap them and imprison them. You can overturn elections, censor the press and take any measures you need to defend against a foreign threat.

And that’s exactly what the born-again Communist patriots of the left are doing.

To save us from $100K in Facebook ads and their own hacked DNC emails, they had to eavesdrop on Trump officials, bring them up on charges and run an endless investigation of the President of the United States. Obama and Clinton supporters in the IRS, State, the FBI, the DOJ and the NSA broke a few rules. But they were protecting us from the Russian menace lurking in Trump Tower.

Just ask Putin. It’s how he does it. It’s how every dictatorship does it.

Waterboarding the mastermind of 9/11 is not “who we are as Americans”. So said the politician whose regime spied on members of Congress, pro-Israel activists, reporters and the Trump team. But Muslim terrorists didn’t represent a grave threat to Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Republicans did.

To Obama, ISIS was just a jayvee team. The worst it could do is kill a few thousand Americans and a few million middle easterners. The left’s real enemies are the ones that threaten its policy agenda.

The definition of treason is one important difference between a free country and a totalitarian state.

Treason in a free country is a threat to the nation. In a totalitarian state, it’s a threat to the ruling class. The tighter the tyranny, the narrower that definition of treason becomes until it’s reduced to one man.

The American left rejected the presidential victories of George W. Bush and Donald Trump. It treats Congress and the Supreme Court as illegitimate institutions because it doesn’t control them.

Legitimate government in its eyes doesn’t derive its authority from the consent of the governed, but from its ideology. Any elected officials who don’t believe in global warming, open borders, freeing criminals, socialized medicine and appeasing terrorists are traitors against the authority of the left.

Tyrants accuse their enemies of treason to the nation, when what they’re really charging them with is treason against their politics. It is the enemies of tyranny who are true patriots while the tyrants are the traitors. And so the tyrants have to portray the patriots as a foreign threat.

The average lefty stopped caring about Russia once it stopped being the motherland of Socialism. You couldn’t get Bernie Sanders to honeymoon there again if you offered him his choice of Stakhanovite brand underarm deodorant in icy gulag or spicy radioactive varieties.

Russia in America now serves the same function as America in Russia. It’s a casus belli for delegitimizing the supporters of a free society as catspaws of foreign interests who must be suppressed. Like 1984’s Oceania, Eurasia and Eastasia, leftist interlinked tyrannies collaborate even while they pretend to fight each other as a pretext for repressing their own populations. Or as Obama once told Russia’s Medvedev, “This is my last election. After my election, I have more flexibility.”

The left would like this to be the last election so its leaders can have maximum flexibility.

Not to fight Russia, but to fight America.

The political movement that once took its marching orders from Moscow doesn’t want to stop Russia. It wants to pretend that its political reign of terror, the illegal eavesdropping, the investigations, the censorship, the sudden raids against its political opponents, and the rest of the KGB tactics are a necessarily evil in the face of a “constitutional crisis”.

There’s a constitutional crisis and it isn’t Russian bots. It’s the left.

When leftists who don’t believe in the constitution speak about a “constitutional crisis”, what they really mean is that we need to suspend the constitution to deal with this emergency. Obama’s illegal KGB tactics of surveillance and investigations have already bypassed the most basic constitutional norms.

Now the Democrats are signaling that they’ll have to suspend all of it to deal with this “crisis”.

The left doesn’t want to fight Russia. It wants to turn Americans into Russia.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.; shown) says that there is evidence of collusion with Russia during the 2016 election — but it’s not with the Trump campaign. He told Fox News there is a “clear link” between Democrats and Russia. Both recently revealed facts and history show that he is correct in his assertion.

While Democrats, the mainstream liberal media, and others have focused on unproven (and apparently unprovable) allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to influence the results of the 2016 election and guarantee a Trump presidency, Nunes says the real evidence points at “the Hillary Clinton campaign,” which “hired a law firm, who hire Fusion GPS, who hired a foreign agent, who then got information from the Russians on the other campaign.” Nunes said this is a “clear link to Russia.”

Nunes made his remarks Monday, the same day his committee voted unanimously to allow Democrats to release their memo rebutting the Republican memo showing FISA abuses in the Trump/Russia investigation. He said that Democrats have shown hypocrisy in their criticism of the Republican memo, adding, “It seems like the counterintelligence investigation should have been opened up against the Hillary campaign when they got ahold of the dossier. But that didn't happen, either.”

Nunes’ claim that Christopher Steele “got information from the Russians” for his “dossier” is based on the so-called “second memo,” which is actually a heavily redacted copy of the criminal referral against Steele. That memo was released earlier this week by Senators Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and shows that Steele “gathered much of his information from Russian government sources inside Russia.”

Wait. Isn’t this whole investigation (read: circus) about whether the Trump campaign served as a conduit for Russia to influence the election? But how about the DNC and the Clinton campaign? It seems obvious that basing the “dossier” on “information from Russian government sources inside Russia,” and then circulating that “dossier” to investigators and leaking it to the media, is a great way to help Russia attempt to influence the election.

It begins to look as though BuzzFeed, and not WikiLeaks (as the Left has claimed), is the media instrument of the Kremlin in the West — whether the folks over at the liberal screed-site know it or not.

Nunes’ remarks about the Clinton campaign hiring “a law firm, who hire Fusion GPS, who hired a foreign agent, who then got information from the Russians on the other campaign” bring up another interesting point that this writer made in a previous article: It was the DNC and Clinton campaign that worked with a foreign operative (Steele) to influence the election by presenting a spurious “dossier” (which has subsequently been entirely discredited) to investigators as if it contained established fact. What Nunes’ remarks and the Grassley/Graham memo add to that is that the foreign operative (Steele) used information gathered from the very foreign power the “dossier” purports to confront.

Hypocrisy does not seem like a strong enough word.

In what The New American’s William F. Jasper called the “Memo Wars,” that “dossier,” as Jasper pointed out, “is now the subject of a rehabilitation effort” by the very people who used it to launch the investigation that has morphed into the Mueller probe.

It is increasingly obvious that the FBI and DOJ abused the readily abusable FISA process to target the Trump campaign using — as an excuse, a pretense — a “dossier” that was both fueled by the Russian government and filled to the margins with utter fabrications. But considering the lengths that Democrats will go to defend and regurgitate their “Trump/Russia collusion” narrative, this is really no surprise.

So, the DNC and the Clinton campaign paid a foreign operative to gather information from a foreign power that both the DNC and Clinton campaign said is hostile to the United States. This spurious informtion was then used to produce the “dossier” that was then both leaked it to the media and used it to paint a picture of Donald Trump as “Putin’s puppet.” Yet, it is Trump and not Clinton who is being investigated for ties to Russia. No wonder Nunes said that “the counterintelligence investigation should have been opened up against the Hillary campaign.”

And while Nunes’ remarks were limited to just the information related to the memos, that information is merely the tip of the Clinton/Russia iceberg. In fact, the connections between Clinton and Russia go far and wide. As this writer reported in an article that originally appeared in the February 20, 2017 print edition of The New American and was later published online, there are enough damning connections between Clinton and Moscow to make a good case for collusion. A sampling of those connections — as revealed in the leaked Clinton/DNC e-mails published by WikiLeaks — shows that:

As secretary of state, Clinton “reset” relations with Putin’s Russia, which helped the Clinton Foundation and its donors make millions of dollars off a deal that sold the mining company Uranium One (and 25 percent of our strategic uranium production) to Russia.
John Podesta, Clinton’s campaign manager, is involved in a huge financial/national security scandal involving his position as an executive board member of Joule Global Stichting, a company owned by Russian oligarch Viktor Vekselberg and Putin’s state-owned RUSNANO corporation.
Secretary of State Clinton set up multi-billion dollar deals and transfers of U.S. technology to help Vladimir Putin build Skolkovo, Russia’s high-tech Silicon Valley, concerning which the FBI has issued “an extraordinary warning” noting that Russia may use this cooperation to obtain America’s “sensitive or classified research development facilities and dual-use technologies.”

As this writer asserted at that time:

Considering what the e-mails show of Clinton’s close ties to Russia and Putin, her assertion that Trump is Putin’s “puppet” is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black. Furthermore, it boggles the mind that the woman who delivered U.S. technology into the hands of Russia would then accuse Putin of directing a hacking campaign to help her political opponent. Was it the technology she helped supply that was used to do the hacking?

Although the new information coming out as a result of the “Memo Wars” is not shocking to those who have been following the Clinton shell game closely, it certainly adds to what is already known about Clinton/Russian connections/collusion. Taken in parts or in whole, it is obvious that this information backs up Nunes’ claims of a “clear link” between Democrats and Russia.

The only question left, really, is what will be done about it. For his part, Nunes seems prepared to tear down the Democrat house of cards. And President Trump — having spent his first year in the White House being accused of what the evidence increasingly shows his opponent actually did — is likely to lend the full support of his administration. If so, it may soon be all over for the Obama/Clinton/DNC cabal.

It will be able to lift a payload of more than 64 tons (141,000 pounds) into orbit, twice as much as the Delta IV Heavy, at one-third the cost, according to SpaceX. The payload the Falcon Heavy is carrying is a Tesla Roadster and a dummy pilot, code named Starman, playing the David Bowie song of the same name. The flight was originally scheduled for 1:30 pm EST, but was pushed back to 3:45 pm EST due to wind shear. It fired from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. SpaceX said that when the rocket achieves lift off, "it will be the most powerful operational rocket in the world by a factor of two." Republicans and Democrats have reached an agreement to fund the government for the remainder of the fiscal year... and set spending caps for the next two years, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., announced on the Senate floor Wednesday. The bipartisan deal lifts mandatory federal spending caps imposed under the 2011 Budget Control Act. The deal would provide the Defense Department with an additional $80 billion over the cap while the nation's domestic budget would receive a boost of about $60 billion. Good, this is very helpful. I appreciate it. … We will try to work with the FBI to figure out, along with your stuff, how we can obtain copies.”
A spokesperson for scum-Schiff insists that he knew all along the call was bogus and a prank, but the Daily Mail reports that scum-Schiff’s office did in fact attempt a follow-up with the pranksters, sending emails seeking details on where and when to pick up the compromising material.
The irony here is that scum-Schiff, who was highly critical of the meeting Donald Trump Jr. took at Trump Tower with the Russian lawyer in 2016 over the promise of receiving dirt on liar-Hillary Clinton, seemingly has little problem with attempting to gain compromising material from Russians on Trump. Evidently, if the information feeds the desired political narrative, then by all means bring it on.

{ townhall.com } ~ That memo worked up in the Intel Committee of Chairman Devin Nunes may not have sunk the Mueller investigation, but from the sound of the secondary explosions, this torpedo was no dud.

The critical charge:

To persuade a FISA court to issue a warrant to spy on Trump aide Carter Page, the FBI relied on a dossier produced by a Trump-hating British spy, who was using old Kremlin contacts, while being paid to dig up dirt on Donald Trump by liar-Hillary Clinton's campaign.

Not only were the liar-Clinton campaign and DNC paying the spy, Christopher Steele, for his dirt-diving, the FBI put Steele on its own payroll, until they caught him lying about leaking to the media.

In their requests for search warrants, the FBI never told the FISA court judge their primary source was a 35-page dossier delivered by Steele that their own Director James Comey described as "salacious and unverified."

From the Nunes memo, there was, at the highest level of the FBI, a cabal determined to derail Trump and elect

liar-Clinton. Heading the cabal was Comey, who made the call to exonerate liar-Hillary of criminal charges for imperiling national security secrets, even before his own FBI investigation was concluded.

Assisting Comey was Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, whose wife, running for a Virginia state senate seat, received a windfall of $467,000 in contributions from

liar-Clinton bundler Terry McAuliffe.

Last week, McCabe was discharged from the FBI. Seems that in late September 2016, he learned from his New York field office that it was sitting on a trove of emails between Anthony Weiner and his wife, liar-Clinton aide Huma Abedin, which potentially contained security secrets.

Not until late October did Comey inform Congress of what deputy McCabe had known a month earlier.

Other FBI plotters were Peter Strzok, chief investigator in both the liar-Clinton email server scandal and Russiagate, and his FBI girlfriend, Lisa Page. Both were ousted from the Mueller investigation when their anti-Trump bias and behavior were exposed last summer.

Filling out the starting five was Bruce Ohr, associate deputy attorney general under Loretta Lynch. In 2016, Ohr's wife was working for Fusion GPS, the oppo research arm of the liar-Clinton campaign, and Bruce was in direct contact with Steele.

Now virtually all of this went down before Robert Mueller was named special counsel. But the poisoned roots of the Russiagate investigation and the bristling hostility of the investigators to Trump must cast a cloud of suspicion over whatever charges Mueller will bring.

Now another head may be about to fall, that of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

If Mueller has given up trying to prove Trump collusion with the Kremlin and moved on to obstruction of justice charges, Rosenstein moves into the crosshairs.

For the heart of any obstruction scenario is Trump's firing of James Comey and his boasting about why he did it.

But not only did Rosenstein discuss with Trump the firing of Comey, he went back to Justice to produce the document to justify what the president had decided to do.

How can Rosenstein oversee Mueller's investigation into the firing of James Comey when he was a witness to and a participant in the firing of James Comey?

The Roman poet Juvenal's question comes to mind. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Who will watch the watchmen?

Consider where we are. Mueller is investigating alleged Trump collusion with Russia, and the White House is all lawyered up.

The House intel committee is investigating liar-Clinton-FBI collusion to defeat Trump and break his presidency. FBI Inspector General Michael Horowitz is looking into whether the fix was in to give liar-Hillary a pass in the probe of her email server.

Comey has been fired, his deputy McCabe removed, his chief investigator Strzok ousted by Mueller for bigoted anti-Trump behavior, alongside his FBI paramour, Page. Bruce Ohr has been demoted for colluding with Steele, who was caught lying to the FBI and fired, and for his wife's role in Fusion GPS, which was being paid to dig up dirt on Trump for liar-Clinton's campaign.

If Americans are losing confidence in the FBI, whose fault is that? { themadpatriots.com } ~ Even those who understand the significance of the House Intelligence Committee’s memo have been telling President Trump through the media that he must not fire Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein or Special Counsel Robert Mueller. This, they say, would only make things worse. Democrats would cry foul with more ferocity than they’ve ever cried about anything. You wouldn’t be able to pick up a newspaper or turn on your television without seeing reference to Nixon’s “Saturday Night Massacre.” Republicans would potentially have no choice but to bring impeachment proceedings against the president, throwing this country into even more disarray than we already find ourselves in.

Hmm, we’re not so sure.

But okay, let’s take it as fact that it would be “bad” for Trump to fire Rosenstein or Mueller at this time. That’s fine. Let the Russia investigation proceed…but not indefinitely. It’s time for the president to reassert his authority over the Justice Department and put an end to what is now – with the release of the memo – undoubtedly a purely political witch hunt. Give Mueller a hard deadline – early summer at the very latest – and tell him that whatever he’s going to conclude, he needs to conclude it by then. That gives him plenty of time to wrap things up, interview who he needs to interview, indict who he wants to indict, and put a pretty bow on top.

Here’s what it prevents: Letting Democrats and Mueller unveil an October Surprise on the Republicans in the runup to November’s midterms.

Because left unimpeded, that’s exactly where this is headed. The idea that Mueller COULD even bring an indictment against a sitting president is quite silly, even if he had the goods to do so. The idea that a Republican-controlled Congress would pursue impeachment is equally unlikely, and the Democrats know this all too well. So what is the point of this investigation? Why are we spending so much money on this nonsense, when if there was ANY proof of collusion it would have come out a year ago? And the answer to those questions is obvious. The Democrats are waiting and biding their time, and when they feel the public is ready for a cough, cough bombshell, they’re going to drop it. Not in federal court, but on the front page of the New York Times.

This “bombshell” won’t be anything that actually proves the narrative – that Trump colluded with Moscow to win the election. As we said, if there was any evidence of that, we would have already known about it. No, it will be something along the lines of a “crime” Trump or his business committed twenty years ago. Or it will be something having to do with the ludicrous charge of obstruction. Or maybe Mueller will try to pinch Trump on perjury. Once a seasoned prosecutor has the full weight of the intel community on his side, there’s really no end to the chicanery that can transpire.

There’s no good reason for Trump to wait around for that to happen. Mueller has had long enough to conduct a thorough investigation. Give him another four or five months and that’s it. After that, it’s over. If you’ve got a political bombshell to drop, you can do it in June just as easily as you can in October. It’s time to bring this fiasco to an end.

The Memo and the Truth

{ townhall.com } ~ Partisans tend to read, watch and listen only, or mostly, to information and opinions that reinforce their beliefs. If information surfaces that counters those beliefs, it is usually disparaged, excused or ignored. That's human nature.

Such is the case with the "memo" released last Friday by the Republican majority on the House Intelligence Committee. The four-page document alleges, in the words of a Wall Street Journal editorial: "the FBI and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court appear to have been used to influence the 2016 election and its aftermath."

If true, that is real collusion.

Conservative partisans are rejoicing and having an "I told you so" moment. Partisans on the left are reading coverage and editorials in The New York Times and the Washington Post and drawing sustenance for their position that the memo is a "nothingburger" and does not undermine Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into the Trump campaign's "collusion" with Russia to influence the election. That not a shred of credible evidence has been produced on this point does not deter them.

Critics of the memo, who tried to stop its release, initially contended it undermines and smears the FBI and the Department of Justice. No it doesn't. It suggests that a few higher-ups in those agencies used their power and influence in an attempt to keep Donald Trump from becoming president and after he was elected to undermine his presidency. Now that the memo has been made public, partisans on the left, who once claimed its release would seriously damage the FBI and the DOJ, now say there is nothing there. It can't be both a danger and nothing, so which is it? In Washington, having it both ways is a cherished tradition.

Politicizing a powerful federal agency is nothing new. Think Lois Lerner and her efforts while at the IRS to thwart tax exemptions for conservative and religious organizations, as well as a few progressives. Or recall how Richard Nixon and his attorney general, John Mitchell, politicized the IRS and Justice Department in an attempt to punish their political enemies.

The most damning part of the memo is the assertion that the FBI and Justice Department used a "dossier" authored by ex-British intelligence officer Christopher Steele and funded in part by the liar-Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee in an attempt to smear Donald Trump. It was this dossier that the government agencies used to convince a FISA judge to issue a warrant allowing Trump campaign official Carter Page and possibly others to be spied on. The memo asserts those seeking the warrant did not tell the judge about the fingerprints of the Democratic Party and liar-Clinton campaign on the dossier. That is worse than oversight. If true, it is criminal and possibly prosecutable behavior.

In an interview with Bret Baier on Fox News Friday, Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes suggested there is more to come, including release of a memo from the Democratic minority and possibly the full transcript of testimony by Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe before a closed meeting of the Intelligence Committee. McCabe signed one of the FISA applications and then-FBI Director James Comey signed three. Nunes contends the subsequent warrants issued by the FISA judge were based on flawed and incomplete information and thus would likely not have been issued had the judge been in possession of additional facts.

The Republican memo is not the end but rather the beginning to exposing behind-the-scenes maneuvering by liberals to keep Donald Trump out of the White House and put liar-Hillary Clinton in it. The public has a right to know all the facts in this case, wherever they lead.

by Thomas Gallatin: The House Intelligence Committee voted unanimously Monday to release the Democrat rebuttal to the Republicans’ FISA memo. President Donald Trump will now have five days to decide if he will release it to the public, which he has previously stated he would do. Rep. scum-Adam Schiff (D-CA), the author of this rebuttal memo, accused Republicans of seeking to distort the facts with the FISA memo produced by House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA). Democrats claim that Nunes coordinated with the White House in creating the FISA memo, a charge Nunes has strongly denied.

Meanwhile, Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) “leaked” a six-page response to the FISA memo, in which he argues that the FBI’s acquiring of a FISA warrant based on the dubious and unverified Christopher Steele dossier was perfectly fine because of Steele’s solid reputation with the FBI and because the allegations made within the dossier have not been disproven.
Andrew McCarthy of National Review astutely notes that the court is interested in the credibility of eyewitnesses, not the reputation of the agent who collected the information. If the FBI, as the FISA memo alleges, relied heavily on the unverified information from the Steele dossier, then the FBI did not meet the standard necessary to justify receiving a surveillance warrant. McCarthy writes, “So far, the FBI and Justice Department have provided only cause for grave concern that they gave a federal court unverified, highly unreliable information that was essential to the court’s probable-cause finding, and that they did so without being candid with the court about the biases of the information’s purveyor. That being so, the burden is on the FBI and the Justice Department to prove that they did not act improperly in seeking the FISA warrant — especially since they, rather than the rest of us, are in possession of the information that they insist would vindicate them.”
McCarthy also points out that the burden is on the DOJ and the FBI to prove they had credible witnesses for seeking a FISA warrant. He writes, “Before you ever get to the point of having an expert explain factual transactions that are beyond the ken of the layman, the occurrence of these factual transactions has to be established by competent, reliable witnesses. Steele and the FBI point us to none.” He continues, “Warrants are issued based on the quality of the information proffered to the court, not the duration of the information-gathering process.”
Democrats are clearly scrambling to regain control of the narrative surrounding Russiagate, with spurious accusations of a Republican Congress going out of its way in seeking to protect Trump. The Heroes and Haters Among Us

I was making a quick run to the supermarket when a shopping cart moved in my way.

It was pushed by an elderly woman from our local synagogue, whom I will call Rose. She and her non-Jewish husband had emigrated from Hungary after the revolution in 1956.

"Susan," she hesitatingly began.

"I haven't spoken of this in years. My children do not know," Rose said in a quiet voice and moved closer. "I know I can tell you." I knew then that she would speak of the Holocaust. We lived in a small college town and most people, including Rose, knew I taught a Holocaust class.

"You know I was born in Budapest," she said, pronouncing the city with the "sh" sound, as natives do. "We were not religious, but we went to the beautiful Dahani Synagogue on the High Holidays, for weddings or bar mitzvahs. Although I married a non-Jewish man, we stayed close with both sides of the family."

Here Rose paused. "We heard about the Nazis. But they were far from us. My father told me, It could never happen here. We have a democracy. We are citizens.' " She paused a long time. "But it did happen."

Standing in the supermarket aisle for the next two hours, Rose told me a story of pain and loss, heroism and courage. She lived as a non-Jew outside the ghetto and brought food and supplies to her family, putting on a Jewish star as she entered the ghetto and removing it when she left. Each visit was fraught with danger.

She brought out a crying baby found in an emptied apartment in the ghetto,. She held the baby in her arms on the train's way out of the ghetto, hoping no one would betray her. No one did.

Less than five feet tall, Rose stood in line for Raul Wallenberg's safe passes, despite beatings from Hungarian Nazis passing by. She took these passes to family members, at times walking miles, alone, to get passes to those already deported to transit camps.

She saved 40 people. Her only comment, "I should have done more. So many more to save."

"Weren't you afraid?" I asked, my heart pounding as her story unfolded.

"Of course," she said, surprised that I would ask.

Shortly after the war ended, her husband was arrested by the Soviets as a traitor. He had been conscripted into the Hungarian army, and went, having been told his wife would not be forced to live in the ghetto if he did. This probably saved her life. Rose went to the Joint Distribution Committee and received documentation from them, which exonerated him, and she walked to the Soviet Prisoner of War camp and freed her husband.

Few knew of her heroism. That was about to change.

The next semester, Rose and her husband frequently spoke to my Holocaust Literature class. The students learned interviewing techniques and a bond grew between the class and this couple. Some videoed Rose speaking, while some photographed family artifacts, including a picture of her father, wearing his mandatory Jewish star. Some wrote the text accompanying the documentary, which aired on the local PBS. It was an intense experience for all.

One day while driving Rose to class, she suddenly cried out, "We must go back!"

"Why?" I asked, thinking we just had the right amount of time to park and get to class.

"My papers, I don't have my papers, " she said. She had forgotten her citizenship papers and passport.

"Rose, you're fine," I said reassuringly. She remained silent. I continued, "It's not going to happen here."

She was quiet for a moment and then spoke softly, "That's what my father said."

I turned the car around. Rose kept a packed suitcase under her bed, just in case.

After the documentary aired, Rose asked if I would show it to her two grown sons and their wives, who were unaware of her story. "Of course," I agreed. Her children would finally learn of their mother's heroism.

A son came down from Canada; the other lived nearby. They were intent as they watched the documentary at their mother's home. The Canadian son had many questions about his parents and grandparents' lives. "I'm just so proud of my mother," he told me, tears in his eyes. His wife agreed. They planned to tell their children of their Jewish heritage and learn more about it.

The other daughter-in-law came up to me. "I want all the videos," she demanded.

"I'll be using some for class in the future," I explained.

"You don't understand." Her voice was rising. "I want to destroy all of them. How dare you say that my children have Jewish blood! These are all lies!" Her husband tried to quiet her as she started screaming.

Rose and her husband were quiet, but not surprised. Now, I began to understand why they had taken so long to tell anyone.

In Hungary, they feared that being openly Jewish would harm their young sons. They then moved to Chile, along with many Nazis in hiding. That didn't seem the right time. Anti-Semitism was not dead. This hatred persisted right here in the U.S. and in their own family.

Perhaps the daughter-in-law would get used to the idea, I thought.

A few months later, we were both invited to a mutual friend's party. When she saw me, she again protested loudly that her children couldn't be related to Jews. The daughter-in-law's loud voice carried to the guests. After trying to explain the documentary was from her in-laws' own words and the photographs they had supplied, I walked away. This was a story that she clearly did not want to hear.

In his book Murderers Among Us, the famous Holocaust survivor and Nazi hunter, Simon Wiesenthal, once took his daughter to the trial of a man accused of heinous crimes. His daughter scrutinized the Nazi, then commented that he looked like everyone else. How did her father find these people to bring them to justice? Her father nodded thoughtfully and said that that was the problem. They look like everyone else and live among us.

On many levels, the Holocaust continues its influence. It dwells in the memories of the survivors and those who endured those times, changing them in ways we cannot fathom. It affects the perspectives of the second and third generations.

It survives in the anti-Semitism still present in Europe, the Middle East and at times, in our own neighborhoods. Sometimes, unexpectedly, hatred of Jews exists in our own family members. To paraphrase Simon Wiesenthal, heroes and haters look like everyone else and live among us. C.

Last Tuesday may have been a tipping point for the American Left. Reid’s reaction to Trump’s address, along with a number of equally contemptible reactions by other members of the Democrat/Media Complex, have exposed American leftists for who they really are: people would rather hate Trump — and his supporters — than love America.
How could Reid be so contemptuous of Americans who go to church, believe in strong families and support the police, the military and the national anthem? Because the groundwork for that sentiment was laid almost a decade ago. "They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations,” said then-candidate for president Barack liar-nObama in 2008.
And in case liar-nObama didn’t make it clear enough, liar-Hillary Clinton doubled down. “You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump’s supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables. Right?” she stated in 2016. “The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic — you name it.”
How out of touch are Democrats and their media allies? According to a CBS/YouGov poll, 75% of Americans overall approved of Trump’s SOTU, including 97% of Republicans, 72% of Independents, and 43% of Democrats. Moreover, they did so following six months where media coverage of Trump was unrelentingly hostile: more than 90% of the reports by ABC, NBC and CBS about the Trump administration were negative.
And the hysteria hasn’t stopped. The ACLU actually criticized Trump for using the word America “more than 80 times in his speech” because he really meant to use it in an “exclusionary” manner. CNN’s Sally Kohn characterized Trump’s speech as “scary” and “terrifying.” The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank called it “uniquely depressing,” and fellow Wapo columnist E.J. Dionne Jr. insisted it was a “flabby divisive speech.” Rep. Louis Guitierrez sneered that whoever translated Trump’s speech from Russian “did a really good job,” and Nancy Pulosi insisted Trump “stooped to a new low.”
If Pulosi is looking for a new low, she should cast her gaze toward Hollywood. “The President is a lying, incompetent, racist, misogynist sack of s—t,” fumed comedian Billy Eichner. “Donald Trump calling for … bipartisanship is about as believable as Mike Pence calling for bisexuality,” stated Jimmy Kimmel. “I’m not watching some frothing orange gorilla read off a teleprompter,” whined George Takei. “I was told darkness could not exist in the light. But here it is, for everyone to not see,” tweeted Sarah Silverman.
Columnist Wayne Allyn Root illuminates what the speech ultimately reveals about the American Left. “Democrats were outed as the party that is rooting for America’s failure,” he explains. “Rooting against a booming economy. Rooting for misery, instead of prosperity. Rooting against job creation. Rooting against a booming stock market. Rooting against employee bonuses. Angry about the lowest black unemployment ever. Angry about the lowest Hispanic unemployment ever. Angry at the lowest female unemployment in 18 years. They openly frowned, grimaced, groaned and looked sick to their stomachs when President Trump celebrated the American flag … the national anthem … American freedom … and American opportunity. Bizarre. Self-destructive behavior.”
There is nothing bizarre about it. Democrats have one agenda: winning — by any means necessary. Thus, when columnist Howard Husock wonders how the same Democrats now opposing Trump’s immigration overtures once championed the same positions, he misses the point, like many conservatives covering a host of issues where Democrats have “evolved.”
Issues and principles are irrelevant, and Democrats don’t care if their flip-flopping constitutes rank hypocrisy or a blatant lack of intellectual honesty or consistency. All that matters is acquiring and maintaining power — even if the country suffers irreparable harm in the process.
Washington Post columnist Paul Waldman affirms that worldview, writing, “There is absolutely nothing the Democrats could do that would be dumber than setting aside their criticisms of Trump to focus solely on some ‘affirmative’ agenda.”
Columnist David Horowitz explains what that really means. “The Democrats are running on hate — and it is pretty much all they are running on,” he writes. “Their hate has blinded them to the interests of constituencies that used to be theirs; it has blinded them to the interests of the country at large, particularly as pertain to security and jobs; and it has narrowed their base of support to maybe 30% of the electorate, ensuring that come November they will have nowhere to go.”
Is Horowitz right? The latest generic polling data is trending in the GOP’s direction, and those polls were taken before Trump’s speech. Trump’s own approval rating has hit 49%, a number higher than it was when he beat liar-Clinton in the 2016 election. Wages have risen at the fastest annual pace since the recession ended, and the unemployment rate matches the lowest level seen since 2000.
Yet perhaps most telling, year-end filings reveal the DNC is virtually broke, with $6.5 million in funding and more $6 million in debt, while the RNC enters 2018 with $40 million in funding, and no debt.
Republicans also enter 2018 with something they haven’t had in close to forever: effective messaging. That “Make America Great Again” infuriates Democrats is telling. That CNN host Jake Tapper declared Trump’s assertion “Americans are dreamers too” would “offend” Democrats is damning. That Lorella Praeli, ACLU director of Immigration Policy and Campaigns, felt compelled to assert that illegal alien dreamers are Americans, and that Trump’s speech “attempted to justify a White House immigration proposal that would exchange urgently needed protections for Dreamers for a host of nativist policy goals,” borders on insanity.
Thus, there is nowhere to go but up, right? Wrong! “Trump is the great disrupter who has overthrown the established political order like no one in modern history, and many opponents have lost their bearings in resisting his presidency,” writes columnist Michael Goodwin in reference to the hysteria evinced by the Democrat/Media Complex over the release of the Nunes memo.
Lost their bearings? Willingly abandoned them is more like it. Details aside, the Nunes memo reveals one over-arching reality: The American Left is more than willing to abide a clandestine, Constitution-crushing assault on Fourth Amendment rights, engendered by the weaponization of government agencies — as long as Democrats have their collective fingers on the trigger.
“If the Democrats ever want to be a national political force again,” writes columnist Michael Walsh, “the party will need to stage a counter-revolution, toss out the Sixties Marxist hippies whose dying hands are still on the tiller, and regroup as a party of the sensible center-Left.”
In a nation where Democrats insist Americans are “deplorable” and illegal aliens are “dreamers,” that may be an impossible task. ~The Patriot Post

However what the memo does prove is at least one case of abuse of power by the FBI which should concern all Americans who value freedom. Brownback, the next U.S. ambassador

for international religious freedom

{ jewishworldreview.com } ~ Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback will be the next U.S. ambassador at large for international religious freedom.

Making it through the Senate - which required a tiebreaker vote by Vice President Mike Pence after all 49 Democratic senators voted against Brownback, and Republicans, with two of their 51 senators absent, all voted in favor - is just the first challenge that Brownback will face in his new position.

His charge as the religious freedom ambassador, a position created 20 years ago by an act of Congress, is to confront the persecution of believers of many faiths, in a wide array of countries all over the world.

Human rights violations in China. Kidnapped girls in Nigeria. Religious law in Saudi Arabia. Persecution of Muslims in Burma, Christians in Pakistan, and Bahais in Iran. And the list goes on.

"We try to focus on the worst countries and the worst situations in the world," said Daniel Mark, the chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, an independent body that Brownback will work with as ambassador. "Because each situation is unique - unique in bad ways - it would be hard to rank them."

Advocates for religious freedom, particularly conservative Christian groups, have been asking the Trump administration to fill the vacant ambassadorship for months. But Brownback, whose tenure in Kansas has been fiercely criticized for his deep tax cuts and who drew Democrats' concern with an answer in his confirmation hearings about protecting LGBT rights abroad, comes into the job facing an unusually high level of opposition.

"Historically, the vote for these ambassadors has not been deeply or hyperpartisan, and yet here we are. I think he starts off in a weakened political position," said Shaun Casey, who ran the State Department's Office of Religion and Global Affairs, a group set to be folded into Brownback's office, during the liar-nObama administration. "If an administration is really committed to religious freedom, we ought to move to making it a career diplomat position, and the approval process can be really, really sped up, if that's the case."

The most recent ambassador in the role was Rabbi David Saperstein, the only non-Christian who has ever held the position. President Barack liar-nObama appointed him in 2014.

Saperstein traveled extensively, often meeting with religious dissidents and groups who claimed religious persecution in foreign countries. "Sometimes even just meeting with these people can put the governments on notice that America is watching, that the world is watching," Mark said.

At home, the ambassador is supposed to raise concerns within the State Department about religious persecution in countries that the United States deals with. Mark said that when liar-nObama was engaged in trade negotiations with Vietnam, for instance, Saperstein worked on including a bid for stronger laws defending religious minorities in Vietnam as part of the deal.

"Brownback will be the voice within the larger apparatus that's making foreign policy to push the president and the secretary of state," Mark said, naming the administration's discussions with China and Saudi Arabia as particularly important diplomatic relationships with a need to add a religious freedom emphasis. "The ambassador can play an important role in making sure the people who actually do the foreign policy, from the president down, care about prioritizing religious freedom."

Members of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom appointed by both Democrats and Republicans supported Brownback's nomination. Tenzin Dorjee, a California State University at Fullerton professor appointed to the commission by House Minority Leader Nancy Pulosi, D-Calif., said the commission relies on an ambassador to elevate its work. "It's kind of sometimes frustrating that not much is happening, for all we try to advance freedom of religion in China" and several other nations, he said. "I think the ambassador can really convince the State Department to use some of the effective tools we have, like sanctions."

But Democrats in Congress united against Brownback's nomination after Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., asked during his confirmation hearing about an executive order that Brownback rescinded that had protected LGBT state employees. Kaine pointed out that people are persecuted based on their sexuality in some countries Brownback might work in as ambassador.

"Is there any circumstance," Kaine asked, "under which criminalizing, imprisoning or executing people based on their LGBT status could be deemed acceptable because somebody asserts they are religiously motivated in doing so?"

Brownback replied that he didn't know of a circumstance like that, "but I would continue the policies of the previous administration in working on these issues."

That wasn't enough for Democrats in the Senate. "I really would expect an unequivocal answer on that, but my time is up," Kaine said at the time. Several senators cited LGBT rights in explaining their votes against Brownback's nomination.

Frank Wolf, a former Republican congressman from Virginia who helped enact the legislation 20 years ago that created this ambassadorship, turned to another aspect of Brownback's long resume in government to defend his nomination.

Wolf said that when the two of them served in Congress together, Brownback, who converted to Catholicism and also attends an evangelical church, stood out for his interest in issues of religion. "He was very much involved in human rights and religious freedom. He was always out in front. He and I were the first two members to go to Darfur during the genocide. He came back and he led the effort truly to declare what was happening there," Wolf said.

Wolf, like several people who work on global religious freedom, named the plight of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar as one of the first priorities for Brownback in the new job.

But Casey warned that any diplomat for the Trump administration may have a tough time finding listeners in the Muslim world, due to Trump's travel ban on entrants from several majority-Muslim countries.

"How can you go to Syria and talk about religious freedom with Muslims and other religious groups, when in fact you've said we don't want any Muslims from your country coming into ours? If we're practicing a form of religious discrimination ourselves in our country, that undermines it," he said.

Do You Find Patriotism Divisive?

{ townhall.com } ~ Did you ever think you'd see the day when a prominent political party would accuse the president of being divisive and exclusionary for saying "America" too many times during his State of the Union speech?

The American Civil Liberties Union made that very complaint. No, the ACLU is not the Democratic Party, but their positions on such matters are virtually indistinguishable. Besides, many prominent Democrats and media liberals made similar objections after the speech.

MSNBC host Joy Reid brazenly trashed traditional American values and institutions with her tweet accusing President Trump of trying to force the normalization of himself by using "terms of the bygone era his supporters are nostalgic for" -- namely, church, family, police, military and the national anthem.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pulosi called Trump's unapologetically pro-America speech, which was widely approved by the American people in flash polls immediately afterward, "dangerous."

Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., who recently compared Trump's presidency to a time "right after the 1932 elections when Adolf Hitler was elected chancellor," took umbrage at Trump's statement that Americans, like the immigrants whose parents brought them here illegally as children, "are dreamers, too."

Fox News analyst Juan Williams was deeply disappointed by the speech, saying that this was an opportunity for Trump to reach across the aisle and bring us together but he didn't take it. More bizarrely, Williams said in response to Trump's statement that "Americans are dreamers, too," "David Duke and the KKK would love that." Seriously?

Obviously, today's Democratic Party at least its leadership has a problem with raw expressions of patriotism, because Democrats can't seem to look at America through anything but their distorted prism of Balkanized identity politics.

They assume that when Republicans promote church, family, police, the military, the national anthem and wholesomeness and goodness, they are somehow dog whistling to white supremacists, or some such nonsense. Democrats said Trump delivered a "wedge speech," one that "inflames the cultural divide."

Perhaps their habit of divining code language in our every pronouncement is simple projection. For all of Trump's faults, he pretty much says what he believes. His SOTU speech was no exception. Probably the most consistent message he delivered on the campaign trail was his belief in an America-first philosophy -- not certain groups in America at the exclusion of others but all Americans.

What these kvetching liberals can't grasp is that we conservatives don't view our heartfelt expressions of patriotism as exclusionary or divisive. Indeed, by definition they are not.

Liberals say we promote white privilege. We don't. They say our policies disfavor minorities, but they don't; they are race-neutral and aimed at lifting up all people. They say immigration enforcement advocates are driven by nativism and bigotry. We aren't; we are animated by a love for America and the American idea, which is enshrined in our founding documents. We don't believe that America is the greatest nation in history by accident, and certainly not because of ethnic demographics.

Rep. Joseph Kennedy, in the official Democratic response to the SOTU, audaciously quoted a U.S. motto, "e pluribus unum," meaning "out of many, one" -- though every other thing out of his mouth and that of his Democratic colleagues undermines that precept. Conservatives, though, actually believe in a melting pot and equality of opportunity and equal justice for all.

Sadly, Kennedy and his Democratic leaders view America only through race-conscious eyes. They are the ones who deliberately divide us, by constantly agitating over race, gender, sex, religion and any other category that will incite their base into a frenzy.

America was mired in a perpetual malaise under Barack liar-nObama, and the Democrats' goal, when liar-nObama's scapegoating of George W. Bush had finally extended even beyond the Democrats' willing suspension of disbelief, was to delude Americans into accepting economic stagnation as inevitable and the new normal.

Already, in one short year, with Trump's tax cuts, his deregulation, his business-friendly policies, his recommitment to America's domestic energy industries, and his overall contagious optimism and bullishness on America, this nation is roaring back, and Democrats are conspicuously vexed about it.

They have no viable alternative agenda; everything they tried under liar-nObama failed. Yet they're still promoting the same destructive ideas. That is why they have reduced themselves to ad hominem Trump slanders, bogus charges of collusion with Russia and blanket smears of conservatives as bigoted extremists.

Democrats are the ones who have become more extreme every year. Yesteryear's liberal extremism is far too conservative for today's Democratic Party. With Democrats' constant westward shifting of the goal posts, they regard mainstream conservatism as radical. Proof of their extremism and intellectual bankruptcy is their maniacal rhetoric, such as accusing Trump of being a dangerous dictator.

Their emotional breakdown over innocuous and uplifting presidential expressions of patriotism and traditional American values -- with their perception that such inherently unifying ideas are divisive and exclusionary -- screams volumes.

Such utterances of national pride cannot credibly be depicted as divisive. Likewise, Democrats' quest to force-fit identity-tinted lenses on all Americans so that we can see one another only as members of certain groups cannot be spun as uniting or constructive.

It would be refreshing if Democrats could at least be truthful about where they stand, but as of now, they are saying one thing and at the same time, well, saying another. Please keep it up through November, guys.

Time for Greenblatt to Walk Away

{ truthrevolt.org } ~ On Tuesday in Bethlehem, the Palestinians demonstrated the choice the Americans now face in their dealings with Fatah – the supposedly moderate PLO faction that controls the Palestinian Authority and the PLO. President Donald Trump and his advisers can play by Fatah’s rules or they can walk away.

On Tuesday a delegation of diplomats from the US Consulate in Jerusalem came to Bethlehem to participate in a meeting of the local chamber of commerce. When they arrived in the city, Fatah members attacked them. Their vehicles with diplomatic license plates were pelted with tomatoes and eggs by a mob of protesters calling out anti-American slogans.

After the Americans entered the hall where the meeting was scheduled to take place, some of the rioters barged in. They held placards condemning America and they shouted, “Americans Out!”

Some of the demonstrators cursed the Palestinians present, accusing them of treason for participating in a meeting with Americans. According to the news reports, the scene became tense and violent. The American officials beat a speedy retreat. As they departed the city, the Fatah rioters continued attacking their cars, kicking them and throwing eggs at them, until they were gone.

The attack on Tuesday was a natural progression.

On Saturday, Fatah members in Bethlehem-area UN camps convened to carry out a very public “people’s tribunal.” Trump and Vice President Mike Pence were tried for “racism” and “bias” against the Palestinians.

The “tribunal” found them guilty and sentenced the president and vice president to death by hanging. Their bodies, the “judges” decided, were to be burned.

In the event, the crowd burned effigies of Trump and Pence.

The implication of the “trial” was clear. Americans like Israelis should be killed.

The burning effigies themselves were a natural consequence of PLO and Fatah chief and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s call last month for Trump’s “house to be destroyed.”

That is, both the assault on the consular officers Tuesday and the riot on Saturday were simply Abbas’s followers carrying out his orders. He put the Americans in his crosshairs. And they are pulling the trigger – for now, with effigies and eggs.

It isn’t hard for Abbas to set his people against the Americans. Palestinians hate Americans.

As a 2014 Pew Survey showed, Palestinians are more anti-American than any people on earth. Seventy-six percent of Palestinians consider the US their enemy. Pakistan came in second place with 64% of respondents saying that the US is their enemy.

Palestinian anti-Americanism is notable given that the US has given more assistance to the Palestinians than any country other than Israel. Americans have spent the last 25 years pressuring Israel to make more and more concessions to the Palestinians.

In large part, anti-Americanism among Palestinians redounds to two things. First, incitement. For 25 years, the US-financed PA has used all the tools at its disposal to indoctrinate the Palestinians to hate America almost as much as they hate Israel.

Second, like the Iranian regime, the Palestinians view the US and Israel as two sides of the same coin. And indeed, their hatred for the US is the mirror image of Israelis’ love for it.

While the Palestinians topped the list of people who view the US as their enemy, Israel topped the list of nations that view the US as their partner. Ninety percent of Israelis view the US as their partner.

All Abbas needed to do was call for Trump’s house to be destroyed and mobs of Fatah members were only too happy to go into the streets and burn the president in effigy.

Trump, for his part, seems more than willing to walk away from the whole business. Over the past week Trump threatened to cut off all US aid to the Palestinians three times. In his appearance with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Davos last week, Trump made clear that he wouldn’t be overly upset if the peace process disappears.

“I can tell you that Israel does want to make peace,” Trump said.

The Palestinians, he continued, are “going to have to want to make peace too, or we’re going to have nothing to do with it any longer.”

When asked about the implications of his recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital for prospects for peace, Trump turned to Netanyahu and said, “You [Israel] won one point, and you’ll give up some points later on in the negotiation, if it ever takes place. I don’t know that it ever will take place.”

Jason Greenblatt, Trump’s chief peace negotiator, seems less sanguine at the concept that the peace process is over.

At a meeting in Ramat Gan this week with ambassadors from EU member states, one of the ambassadors asked Greenblatt whether Jerusalem is still a subject for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, or whether, as Trump said in Davos, the issue is settled and is in Trump’s words, “off the table.”

Greenblatt reportedly answered that Trump mischaracterized the situation at Davos. Jerusalem is still a topic for negotiation between the sides, as Trump made clear in his December 6, 2017, declaration recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Greenblatt said.

Greenblatt’s statements over the past several days paint a picture of an administration unclear on what to make of the Palestinian response to Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem. On the one hand, they continue to maintain that peace can only be based on reality and therefore, recognizing Jerusalem was necessary for peace to ever be achieved.

Along these lines, at his meeting with the European ambassadors, Greenblatt also told them that their insistent condemnation of construction in Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria as an obstacle to peace is wrong. Construction of housing in the settlements has no impact on prospects for peace, he insisted, rightly.

The last time any US envoy said anything approaching Greenblatt’s reported remarks was 2003.

But then, Greenblatt wouldn’t let go of the hope that the Palestinians are interested in cutting a peace deal.

Speaking in Brussels at a donor conference for the Palestinian Authority, Greenblatt repeated over and over that the US is committed to the peace process.

Then there was his fawning message to PA “Prime Minister” Rami Hamdallah, who participated in the conference.

The sole reason the conference in Brussels was convened was to raise tens of millions of dollars for Hamdallah to shove into bank accounts controlled by Abbas and his kleptocrat underlings. It would have been rather odd if Hamdallah wasn’t there to beg in person.

And yet, Greenblatt didn’t treat Hamdallah’s presence in the meeting room as no big deal. He didn’t call him out publicly for the dangerous assault by Fatah activists against US diplomats in Bethlehem the day before.

Instead Greenblatt gushed, “I am particularly pleased to see you Prime Minister Hamdallah – I hope, as a sign of the Palestinian Authority’s continued commitment to the process which we have undertaken together. Despite our differences, we remain committed to continue working together to use our best efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.”

Given the fact that the day before Fatah members attacked US diplomats in Bethlehem, and four days earlier they burned Trump and Pence in effigy, it would have been reasonable for Greenblatt to publicly excoriate Hamdallah and the PA for their actions.

The fact that Greenblatt failed to call him to account, but rather gushed at Hamdallah’s presence like a teenage girl over a rock star, shows that the Americans are still unclear why the Palestinians have taken a sword to their relations with Washington.

Greenblatt, like his colleagues at the consulate and the State Department, don’t understand what is happening because they think that the peace process is about negotiating. But that’s never been what the peace process has been about. If it were about negotiating then the Palestinians would have been held accountable for their breaches of every commitment they ever made to Israel. But they have never been held to account. Only Israel has been held to account.

Indeed, Israel has been attacked despite the fact that it has upheld all of its commitments.

Meantime, the Palestinians have never honored any of their commitments to Israel – or to the US. They never canceled or amended the PLO Charter that calls for Israel’s annihilation. They never ended their incitement to murder Israelis. They never ended their sponsorship or finance of terrorism. They never extradited terrorists who murdered Americans to the US to stand trial. They certainly never extradited terrorists to stand trial in Israel. Indeed, they have never recognized Israel’s right to exist.

As far as the Palestinians are concerned, the peace process is a process of unconditional Israeli surrender to all of their terms. The role of the US as the sponsor of the peace process is to coerce Israel to make concessions that together will lead to its unconditional surrender. And for the better part of the past quarter century successive US administrations have played by the Palestinians’ rules.

But then Trump showed up. When Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, he took something away from the Palestinians. That has never happened before. And now, reports that the administration is considering holding the UN’s Palestinian refugee agency UNRWA to the same definition of “refugee” as the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees means another Palestinian high card is in danger. If Trump carries out his threat, then the only Palestinians who will be eligible for refugee status will be the 20,000 Palestinians who left Israel between 1947 and 1949. In one fell swoop, Trump would wipe out the Palestinian demand to destroy Israel through mass immigration of five million foreign-born Arabs to its territory – in the framework of peace.

In an interview with Fox News, chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat was asked what the administration can do to placate the Palestinians’ anger and convince them to renew their contacts with Washington. Erekat said the only thing the US can do is cancel its recognition of Jerusalem. Meaning only unconditional American surrender to Palestinian demands will bring America back into the PLO’s good graces.

At the entrance to Jericho a sign is hanging saying that Americans and dogs are not welcome. Signs on shop windows in Ramallah and Jericho inform all US and British visitors thinking of coming inside that they are required to apologize for their governments’ policies.

It’s time for Greenblatt to understand that the peace process is over. And unless Trump intends to humiliate himself and America and sell Israel down the river like his predecessors did, the peace process will not be resuscitated. The longer he and his colleagues pretend away the truth, the more they imperil themselves and empower a people that will be more than happy to move beyond eggs and tomatoes and effigies and banners.
