{ jpost.com } ~ Gaza is beyond a “humanitarian crisis” and “on the verge of a total systems failure,”... UN Mideast envoy Nickolay Mladenov said Tuesday. Speaking at the INSS annual conference in Tel Aviv, Mladenov defined a total systems failure as the “full collapse of the economy and social services,” with all the “political, humanitarian and security implications stemming from that.” Mladenov said that the situation in Gaza needed to be high on the priority of the donor countries to the PA meeting in Brussels on Tuesday for an emergency meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee to address the Palestinian funding crisis, Gaza and the stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace process...   http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Conflict/UN-envoy-Gaza-on-verge-of-total-systems-collapse-540209?utm_source=newsletter&utm_campaign=30-1-2018&utm_content=un-envoy-gaza-on-verge-of-total-systems-collapse-540209

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ Palestinian incitement against the US has reached new heights. While the Palestinians have never been fans of the US... the past few weeks have revealed the extent to which they truly loathe Americans. The US, it is worth noting, funds the Palestinians to the tune of nearly $800 million every year -- $368 million every year to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA); and $400 million every year to the Palestinian Authority (PA), with $363 million from USAID and $36 million every year for security. This is how the Palestinian incitement machine works: PA leaders and officials set the tone, while ordinary Palestinians take to the streets to express their hatred of the US. Hardly a day passes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip without a photo or effigy of President Donald Trump and US flags being burned before local and foreign journalists and camera crews...   https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/11815/palestinian-blackmail-trump-pence

scum-Adam Schiff is portrayed by many in the media as a straight shooter... His record in reality is of fanning the flames of every single Trump-Russia collusion allegation out there. Yesterday the House Permanent Select Committee On Intelligence voted to release a four-page summary document alleging surveillance abuses by the Justice Department and FBI. The committee's memo has been available to all 435 House members for more than a week. Some of those who read it described it as "troubling," "shocking," "jaw-dropping," "sickening," and "criminal." FBI Director Christopher Wray reviewed the memo on Sunday. As soon as the committee had finished voting, ranking member Rep. scum-Adam Schiff ran to the cameras to spin the news. From that point, he began explaining things in a non-truthful manner. This inability or unwillingness to accurately convey information is not a surprise so much as a regular feature of his work with journalists, but it's worth noting how that played out in just one few-hour span...
Donald Trump Should

{ familysecuritymatters.org } ~ Let's cut to the chase: Donald Trump should not agree to be interviewed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller... and President  Trump should not even be asked. See, there are two Trumps to consider here. There is the very eccentric and volatile man who is the subject of Mueller's amorphous investigation. And there is the president of the United States, who has responsibilities to that vital public office. Here, the interests of both happen to align. We'll first examine Trump the man. No long history lesson is required here; let's just take the last couple of weeks. Trump told a room full of lawmakers that he'd sign whatever immigration legislation they brought him - everything was negotiable. When senior legislators from both parties brought him the familiar Washington plan of amnesty now, security maybe someday, he said no way, no wall, no deal...  http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/donald-trump-should-refuse-a-mueller-interview?f=must_reads

{townhall.com} ~ Asked if he would agree to be interviewed by Robert Mueller's team, President Donald Trump told the White House press corps, "I would love to do it ... as soon as possible. ... under oath, absolutely."

On hearing this, the special counsel's office must have looked like the Eagles' locker room after the 38-7 rout of the Vikings put them in the Super Bowl.

If the president's legal team lets Trump sit for hours answering Mueller's agents, they should be disbarred for malpractice.

For what Mueller is running here is not, as Trump suggests, a "witch hunt." It is a Trump hunt.

After 18 months investigating Trumpian "collusion" with Putin's Russia in hacking the DNC's and John Podesta's emails, the FBI has hit a stone wall. Failing to get Trump for collusion, the fallback position is to charge him with obstruction of justice. As a good prosecutor can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich, the tactic is understandable.

Mueller's problem: He has no perjury charge to go with it. And the heart of his obstruction case, Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey, is starting to look like something Trump should have done sooner.

Consider what is now known of how Comey and the FBI set about ensuring liar-Hillary Clinton would not be indicted for using a private email server to transmit national security secrets.

The first draft of Comey's statement calling for no indictment was prepared before 17 witnesses, and liar-Hillary, were even interviewed.

Comey's initial draft charged liar-Clinton with "gross negligence," the requirement for indictment. But his team softened that charge in subsequent drafts to read, "extreme carelessness."

Attorney General Loretta Lynch, among others, appears to have known in advance an exoneration of liar-Clinton was baked in the cake. Yet Comey testified otherwise.

Also edited out of Comey's statement was that liar-Hillary, while abroad, communicated with then-President liar-nObama, who had to see that her message came through a private server. Yet liar-nObama told the nation he only learned liar-Hillary had been using a private server at the same time the public did.

A trial of liar-Hillary would have meant liar-nObama in the witness chair being asked, "What did you know, sir, and when did you know it?"

More information has also been unearthed about FBI collusion with British spy Christopher Steele, who worked up -- for Fusion GPS, the dirt-divers of the liar-Clinton campaign -- the Steele dossier detailing Trump's ties to Russia and alleged frolics with prostitutes in a Moscow hotel.

While the Steele dossier was shopped around town to the media, which, unable to substantiate its lurid and sensational charges, declined to publish them, Comey's FBI went all in.

Not only did the Steele dossier apparently trigger a wider FBI investigation of the Trump campaign, it served as the basis of FBI requests for FISA court warrants to put on Trump the kind of full-court press J. Edgar Hoover put on Dr. King for the Kennedys and LBJ.

Amazing. Oppo-research dirt, unsourced and unsubstantiated, dredged up by a foreign spy with Kremlin contacts, is utilized by our FBI to potentially propel an investigation to destroy a major U.S. presidential candidate. And the Beltway media regard it as a distraction.

An aggressive Republican Party on the Hill, however, has forced the FBI to cough up documents that are casting the work of Comey's cohorts in an ever more partisan and sinister light.

This cabal appears to have set goals of protecting liar-nObama, clearing liar-Hillary, defeating Trump, and bringing down the new president the people had elected, before he had even taken his oath.

Not exactly normal business for our legendary FBI.

What have these people done to the reputation of their agency when congressmen not given to intemperate speech are using words like "criminal," "conspiracy," "corruption" and "coup" to describe what they are discovering went on in the FBI executive chambers?

Bob Mueller, who inherited this investigation, is sitting on an IED because of what went on before he got there. Mueller needs to file his charges before his own investigation becomes the subject of a Justice Department investigation by a special counsel.

As for Trump, he should not sit for any extended interview by FBI agents whose questions will be crafted by prosecutors to steer our disputatious president into challenging or contradicting the sworn testimony of other witnesses.

This a perjury trap.

Let the special counsel submit his questions in writing, and let Trump submit his answers in writing.

At bottom, this is a political issue, an issue of power, an issue of whether the Trump revolution will be dethroned by the deep state it was sent to this capital to corral and contain.

If Trump is guilty of attempted obstruction, it appears to be not of justice, but obstruction of an injustice being perpetrated against him.

Trump should be in no hurry to respond to Mueller, for time no longer appears to be on Mueller's side.

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., announced Wednesday... he is retiring from Congress. “I will not be filing for re-election to Congress nor seeking any other political or elected office; instead I will be returning to the justice system,” he said in a statement. “Whatever skills I may have are better utilized in a courtroom than in Congress, and I enjoy our justice system more than our political system. As I look back on my career, it is the jobs that both seek and reward fairness that are most rewarding.”  Gowdy was elected to serve South Carolina's 4th Congressional District in 2010 after a career in the justice system, to which he plans to return...   http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/rep-trey-gowdy-to-retire-from-congress/article/2647685?utm_campaign=Washington%20Examiner:%20News%20Alert&utm_source=Washington%20Examiner:%20News%20Alert%20-%2001/31/18&utm_medium=email

{ rickwells.us } ~ Congressman Ron DeSantis (R-FL) addresses the release of the Nunes House Intelligence Committee memo to the American people, saying... “What’s going to happen the public gets the memo is the memo will answer a lot of these vexing questions that we’ve been asking for months.” He details some of those questions as “the genesis of the dossier, about whether the dossier was used to obtain surveillance, and other questions. But it’s also going to raise new questions that’s going to require more congressional investigation and perhaps the appointment of a special counsel.” He says, “This is an important event. I think that there will be more accountability within the bowels of the bureaucracy as a result of this, but this is not the end game. This is just one more step in the direction of accountability.”... https://rickwells.us/desantis-rosenstein-memo public/  VIDEO:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwAyNDIPpAk

by Walter Williams
{ frontpagemag.com } ~ President Donald Trump reportedly asked why the U.S. is "having all these people from shithole countries come here."... I think he could have used better language, but it's a question that should be asked and answered. I have a few questions for my fellow Americans to consider. How many Norwegians have illegally entered our nation, committed crimes and burdened our prison and welfare systems? I might ask the same question about Finnish, Swedish, Welsh, Icelanders, Greenlanders and New Zealanders. The bulk of our immigration problem is with people who enter our country criminally from Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East. It's illegal immigrants from those countries who have committed crimes and burdened our criminal justice and welfare systems. A large number of immigrants who are here illegally — perhaps the majority are law-abiding in other respects — have fled oppressive, brutal and corrupt regimes to seek a better life in America. In the debate about illegal immigration, there are questions that are not explicitly asked but can be answered with a straight "yes" or "no": Does everyone in the world have a right to live in the U.S.? Do Americans have a right to decide who and under what conditions a person may enter our country? Should we permit foreigners landing at our airports to ignore U.S. border control laws just as some ignore our laws at our southern border? The reason those questions are not asked is that one would be deemed an idiot for saying that everyone in the world has a right to live in our country, that Americans don't have a right to decide who lives in our country and that foreigners landing at our airports have a right to just ignore U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents. Immigration today, even when legal, is different from the immigration of yesteryear. People who came here in the 19th century and most of the 20th century came here to learn our language, learn our customs and become Americans. Years ago, there was a guarantee that immigrants came here to work, because there was no welfare system; they worked, begged or starved. Today, there is no such assurance. Because of our welfare state, immigrants can come here and live off taxpaying Americans...   https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/269163/immigration-lies-and-hypocrisy-walter-williams

by Peggy Noonan
{ peggynoonan.com } ~ I used to think America needed a parent to help it behave. Now I think it needs a grandparent. Our culture has been so confused for so long on so many essentials, and has gotten so crosswise on the issue of men and women, that we need more than ever the wisdom of the aged.

That was my thought as I read this week’s sexual-harassment story, about the 30-something TV star, the girl in her 20s and their terrible date.

The woman in the story, recounted on the website Babe.net, went unnamed, and it doesn’t feel right to add to the man’s social-media misery. Nor is it necessary to assign blame since they were both such hapless representatives of their sex.

They had one thing in common: They were impressed by his celebrity. He deploys it to get what he wants, she wanted to be close to it. They met at an industry party, flirted by text; he asked her to his apartment and took her to a restaurant where he rushed her through dinner. They returned to his home, where he immediately made overt sexual advances, which she accepted but did not want. She seems to have had no sense that any outward show of respect was due her. Taken aback by how quickly he was moving, she tried to slow things via “nonverbal cues.” Among them was allowing him to perform oral sex on her, and performing it on him, which in fairness he might have interpreted as an indication of enthusiasm. She is an articulate person but was for some reason unable to say, “Stop, this is not what I want. I have to leave.” At no point does she allege he threatened her, either physically or professionally, or tried to bar the door.

He was boorish, a slob, what used to be called a wolf. He wished to use her sexually and didn’t understand her reservations. Isn’t that what first dates are for?

Is he a creep? Of course. She has been accused of trying to jump onto the #MeToo movement, painting herself as a victim, and exhibiting no sense of “agency.” Though she is at least competent at revenge. She expects us to understand why she didn’t walk out. Why did she stay, and expect such a gross figure suddenly to show sensitivity? In his interactions as she reports them, he never pretended not to be a pig.

Here is why we’re discussing this. All the stories we’ve read the past few months about predators—not those accused of rape and sexual assault, which are crimes, but of general piggishness, grabbiness, manipulation and power games—have a common thread. The men involved were not gentlemen. They acted as if they’d never heard of the concept.

We have lost track of it. In the past 40 years, in the movement for full equality, we threw it over the side. But we should rescue that old and helpful way of being. The whole culture, especially women, needs The Gentleman back.

A person of the cultural left would say that is a hopelessly patriarchal thing to say. But one thing the #MeToo movement illustrates is that women are often at particular risk in the world, and need friends and allies to stand with them. That would be men. And the most reliable of them are gentlemen.

There are a million definitions of what a gentleman is, and some begin with references to being born to a particular standing. But in America any man could be one who had the guts to withstand the demands.

The dictionary says a gentleman is a chivalrous, courteous, honorable man. That’s a good, plain definition. The Urban Dictionary says: “The true gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good will . . . whose self control is equal to all emergencies, who does not make the poor man conscious of his poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority or deformity.” That’s good, too.

A website called Gentleman’s Journal offers a list of 20 traits that make a man a gentleman. I liked “A gentleman always walks a woman home.” He doesn’t pack her off alone to an Uber downstairs, in the back of which she weeps as she sends her friends horrified texts, which is what happened with the Hollywood star and the girl. I liked, “A gentleman ruins his lover’s lipstick, not her mascara.” And “If a woman comes with baggage, a gentleman helps her unpack it.”

A gentleman is good to women because he has his own dignity and sees theirs. He takes opportunities to show them respect. He is not pushy, manipulative, belittling. He stands with them not because they are weak but because they deserve friendship. Once at a gathering of women in media, I spoke of a columnist who years before had given me helpful critiques of my work and urged me on. “A gentleman is an encourager of women.”

It goes deeper than memorizing and repeating certain behaviors, such as standing when a woman or an older person enters the room. That is a physical expression of inner regard. Being a gentleman involves not only manners but morals. The 19th-century theologian John Henry Newman —an Anglican priest who became a Catholic cardinal—said a gentleman tries not to inflict pain. He tries to remove the obstacles “which hinder the free and unembarrassed action of those about him.” He is “tender toward the bashful, gentle toward the distant, and merciful toward the absurd. . . . He is never mean or little in his disputes, never takes unfair advantage.”

David Gandy, a fashion model, wrote a few years ago in London’s Telegraph that his work had taught him “being a gentleman isn’t about what you do or what you wear, it’s about how you behave and who you are.” A gentleman “holds chivalry and politeness in great regard. He holds the door for people; he gives up his seat; he takes off his coat to a lady on a cold evening.” These are old-fashioned actions, but a gentleman still holds to them “even though the world has changed.”

Yes, a gentleman does.

A man once told me it’s hard to be a gentleman when fewer of the women around you seem interested in being ladies. But that’s when you should step up your gentleman game. We are all here to teach and inspire.

By the way, I notice there are definitions of what a gentleman is and how you can be one all over the internet.

Someone must be looking for this information. That’s good.

The age of social media has worked against the ideas of decorum, dignity and self-control—the idea of being a gentleman. You can, anonymously, be your lowest, most brutish self, and the lowering spreads like a virus.

But you can’t judge a nation by its comment threads, or let’s hope so. You can judge it by its struggle to maintain standards. For inspiration we end with Hollywood, with Jimmy Stewart in “The Philadelphia Story.” The character played by Katharine Hepburn makes a pass at him, and he notes he could have taken advantage of the moment but she’d been drinking and “there are rules about that.”

Here’s to the rules, and the gentlemen who help keep them alive.

President Donald Trump lit it up last night with his State of the Union address. So much so, that amid "USA" chants in the House chamber, a Democrat congressman got up and left. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) frowned at the call to work together and remained sitting during a rousing ovation. Black Democrats who were sitting together remained stone-faced when Trump said that unemployment was at its lowest rates in 45 years and that black unemployment was the lowest on record. The news media continued to criticize Trump with snide remarks about his wife's dress. ABC went so far as to say the speech was divisive, gloomy and stoked racial tensions. The real cap on the night came from CBS.

A CBS poll following the speech showed that 75% of those who watched the speech approved of it, only 25% disapproved. Interesting, though, about this rating is the demographics of those who watched the speech. Some 42% said they were Republicans, 33% were Independents, and 25% were Democrats. This could indicate that no matter what a Republican says, no matter what the facts are about the good things that are being done, no matter if people have jobs who never had them before, no matter what-Democrats are going to disapprove of anything and everything a Republican does. This is not unity. This divisiveness coming from Democrats and the media is not even American.

The sides of this coin are drastic for our nation and its people. We need to learn how to work out our problems with respect and civility. Those who are openly hostile obviously have another agenda. That would be the case with the mainstream media and the leadership of the Democratic Party. Notwithstanding, those polled who said they were Democrats, appear to agree with their party's leadership-at least 25% of them. This radical, visceral approach to politics is destructive. Jesus said in Mark 3:24, "And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand." We are a divided nation as evidenced by the disrespect and ignorance shown by those who refuse to agree on the good that has been accomplished.

President Trump said, "If you work hard, if you believe in yourself, if you believe in America, then you can dream anything, you can be anything, and together, we can achieve anything. ...All of us, together, as one team, one people, and one American family. We all share the same home, the same heart, the same destiny, and the same great American flag. Together, we are rediscovering the American way. In America, we know that faith and family, not government and bureaucracy, are the center of the American life.  Our motto is "in God we trust."... As long as we have confidence in our values, faith in our citizens, and trust in our God, we will not fail." Who can disagree with this?--Those who neither share these values nor trust in God. That is the difference between unity and division.
Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

{ rickwells.us } ~ If President Trump thought his generous concessions to the left on amnesty were going to win their approval or cooperation... their response at the State of the Union Address may have finally educated him as to the true nature of a globalist libtard. They don’t negotiate, they don’t compromise. They issue ultimatums and make demands. As Trump was announcing his immigration strategy and delivering the carrot he hoped would entice Democrats to compromise and give him the border wall, he was barely given enough time to get the words out of his mouth before they rudely and in a manner unbefitting the offices that they are abusing, booed him. He notes that the number of amnesty recipients under his plan is almost three times more than was imposed upon America by his predecessor... https://rickwells.us/trump-names-dems-booed/

Boom! 75 Percent Approval For Trump SOTU Speech While Pelosi Rejects Unity

President Trump’s State of the Union speech was extremely successful with the president getting a 75 percent approval rating.

A CBS News poll of speech viewers found President Trump received very high marks.

Seventy-five percent approved the speech with 80 percent feeling the president is trying to unite the country. In addition, the speech made Americans feel proud.

CBS News reports:

Eight in 10 Americans who watched tonight felt that the president was trying to unite the country, rather than divide it. Two-thirds said the speech made them feel proud, though just a third said it made them feel safer. Fewer said the speech made them feel angry or scared.

In sharp contrast, Congressional Democrats were visibly unhappy with President Trump’s speech.

Black Representatives gave the president’s statement about record low unemployment in the black community a cold reception.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) visually rejected the president’s call for unity with a frown.

Investigative journalist Sara Carter explained to Sean Hannity on Tuesday that the FISA memo stunned FBI Director Christopher Wray “to his core” when he read it. The next day, Wray expected McCabe to resign, effective immediately, which he did, not even bothering to appear for the morning meeting.

Sarah Carter’s first statement she states McCabe resigned promptly upon request. In fact, that is not a resignation. That is a firing. He was Schitt canned. It has also been documented that McCabe was escorted from the FBI building. I am presuming that was later when he went to pick up his personal belongings. That is absolutely NOT a resignation.

At this point, compare that first statement to Carter’s last statement in which she states they “they are considering firing him.”

What? How do you Schitt can a dude who isn’t there any more? Isn’t that sort of like hanging a dude who was just shot by a firing squad?

Please, somebody clarify that to me if you can make sense of it.

Democrats Bringing More Than Two Dozen Illegal Aliens to Trump’s SOTU

More than two dozen illegal aliens are expected to attend

President Trump’s “State of the Union” (SOTU) address with

Democrats to demand an immediate large-scale amnesty.

Democrats like Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), who has said he’s working “full time” for illegal aliens, and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) are just a couple of the left-wing lawmakers who are bringing illegal aliens as their dates to Trump’s SOTU.

The dozens of illegal aliens joined Democrats like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in a press conference wherein they demanded the immediate passage of the “DREAM Act” which would give amnesty to potentially all 12 to 30 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. at the expense of America’s working and middle-class communities.

Democrats have taken to social media to proudly announce that they are bringing illegal aliens to Trump’s SOTU.

In 2018, millions of middle-class Americans, particularly those unsubsidized enrollees in the states’ individual health insurance markets... are rightfully anxious about the future of their health care. Leftist Group that Blasted Trump Over
DACA Gets Biggest Slice of $37 Mil HUD Grant

{ judicialwatch.org } ~ A leftist group that attacked President Trump for terminating an liar-nObama program that protects hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants living in the U.S...
is being rewarded with taxpayer dollars. The Washington D.C. nonprofit, National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA), will get the largest chunk—$999,962—of a $37 million grant awarded this week to fight housing discrimination. The cash is being distributed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), an agency long embroiled in a multitude of scandals and well known for waste and abuse. The generous award comes on the heels of NFHA’s Trump bashing over a contentious policy known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) that shields nearly 800,000 illegal aliens under the age of 31 from deportation and lets them obtain work permits and drivers’ licenses. The overwhelming majority—548,000—are from Mexico, according to figures released by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in September. El Salvador (25,900), Guatemala (17,700) and Honduras (16,100) are the next three countries with the most DACA recipients, the government figures show. The biggest concentration of illegal aliens protected by DACA are in California (197,900) and Texas (113,000), though states such as Illinois (35,600), New York (32,900), Florida (27,000) and Arizona (25,500) also have significant numbers. Most came to the U.S. as children “through no fault of their own,” which is why former President liar-nObama launched DACA through executive order in 2012. The bottom line is that DACA rewards people for breaking the law...

Linguistic Annoyances
by Tom McLaughlin

images.jpeg

tommclaughlin.blogspot.com “Perfect.”

I’m hearing that a lot lately. If I tell a waiter or waitress my menu selection (s)he’ll say, “Perfect.” Talking to a with a technical support person or medical professional, I’ll identify myself by phone number or birthdate and hear: “Perfect.” How can my name or birthdate be perfect?

no-yeah-yes-yeah-no-no-yeah-no-for-sure-4516491.png
And then there’s “Yeah, no” to begin a response to a statement or a question. The first few times I heard “Yeah, no” I was thinking the respondent is confused or ambivalent, but after hearing them again and again I’m thinking maybe they’re a kind of preface designed to avoid giving offense to the interrogator — a way to keep one’s foot in the door so as to be able to backtrack if necessary and declaring from the start that you could go either way on the question.
giphy-2.gif
Another trendy phrase is “having said that” or “that said,” which seems to be a signal that what follows builds upon whatever has been expressed. It leaves me thinking: “I know you just said that; I heard it.” Maybe it’s a clue that the speaker is about to go off in a different direction. Maybe it’s just superfluous, or a way to collect one’s thoughts before going on — a substitute for “ahhh…” which might sound foolish if repeated too many times. Or, that said, maybe the speaker thinks the phrase makes him sound cool and intelligent because he’s heard it used by others he considers cool and intelligent.
obama_signed_letters_110621.jpg
For years now I’ve been hearing “He signed off on it,” to mean “He approved it,” but the juxtaposition of opposite prepositions feels incongruous. “On” follows immediately after “Off” and disturbs my linguistic instincts. One can “sign on” to something, meaning to join with it, but to “sign off” would mean to quit. Those meanings are extant and have been for most of my lifetime so to hear “sign off on” for so long now is bothersome — almost as bad as beginning a response with “Yeah, no.”
naunce1.jpg
And, lately “nuance” is being overused, especially when employed to describe a person when it was formerly limited to things like artistic performances or physical works of art. A synonym would be “subtle.” Now it’s used by progressives to disparage the president, as in: “Trump lacks nuance,” a condescending strategy to portray him as thick-headed and unable to recognize subtle shades of meaning that progressives and their ilk all perceive.
5aaa07d2aac734d8e86b03556fdd4775.jpg.png
The tired expression “thinking outside the box” is finally in decline whereas “thrown under the bus” is still is wide use. I complained about the latter in a 2011 column in which I tried in vain to figure out where it originated. I’m learning to tolerate it though because it’s clearly not going away. I’ve stopped wondering: why a bus? Why not under a subway car or a truck? And, no more do I try to imagine what throwing someone under a bus would actually look like.

Many of us are careful to be fashionable in what we wear, drive, listen to, and say. There was a time I adhered to fashion trends like these but it was brief and long ago. As verification that I don’t any longer, one of my daughters sent me a Fathers’ Day card last year with a caricature of a geeky-looking man under which was written:
Mary%2BMcLaughlin.jpeg
“Dad, your refusal to care who thinks you’re cool used to puzzle me.” (open card) “Now it inspires me!”
manbun.png
At Whole Foods in Portland, Maine last week were men in various combinations of skinny jeans, man buns, facial metal, skin graffiti, and other trappings of millennial progressivism. They considered those accoutrements vital to their identities and I felt sorry for them, especially the older ones who hadn’t grown beyond all that. I like the multi-grain sandwich bread the store bakes on site every day, and it’s the only thing I buy there so I was in and out quickly. Had I stayed longer I might have heard samples of leftist language trends currently in fashion.
wokelandingpage.jpg
For example, progressives have assigned new connotations to the familiar word “woke.” So far I’ve only encountered it in writing but were I to hang out at left-wing gathering places like Whole Foods I would probably hear it spoken. The new meaning has only figurative reference to sleeping or waking up; contextual clues indicate it’s a gauge of political consciousness. Merriamwebster.com confirms that, declaring: “‘Woke’ is increasingly used as a byword for social awareness… a slang term that is easing into the mainstream from some varieties of a dialect called African American Vernacular English (sometimes called AAVE).”
2017-10-27-7e5068f2_large.jpg
Also included was a caution from a New York Times writer that use of the word by white people would invoke charges of cultural appropriation — a definite linguistic/fashion/PC faux pass.

{ rickwells.us } ~ The clown-Schumer is about to hit the fan, to borrow from James Wesley Rawles... although describing it as the liar-nObama hitting the fan might be more accurate. The House Intelligence Committee voted on Monday evening to release the Nunes memo to the public. Now there will be a five day review period in which the White House has the option to approve or reject its release, but President Trump is widely expected to approve the truth about the criminal wrongdoing at DOJ and FBI during the liar-nObama regime finally getting out to the American people. That period of time will allow the focus to shift to President Trump’s State of the Union Address and it’s digestion before the chaos that will result from the exposure of the liar-Obama regime criminality as it takes over the media. Democrats had drafted their own rebuttal memo in which they depicted the Nunes memo as merely a collection of GOP talking points designed to distract from the Russia Mueller witch hunt. Technically, one might be able to truthfully describe the Nunes memo in that manner, as it is pointing to a lot of criminals who were abusing their offices in service to the liar-nObama/ liar-Clintonswcum-Soros mafia and talking about what they were up to...  https://rickwells.us/intel-release-nunes-memo/

House Intel votes to release controversial
surveillance memo to the public
by Alex Pappas

{ foxnews.com } ~ The House Intelligence Committee on Monday evening voted to release a classified memo...
circulating in Congress that purportedly reveals government surveillance abuses. The vote was announced to reporters by California Rep. scum-Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the committee, who called it a “very sad day, I think, in the history of this committee.” The motion passed on a party-line basis, he said. President Trump now has five days to decide whether he has any objections before the memo can be publicly released...   http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/01/29/house-intel-votes-to-release-controversial-surveillance-memo-to-public.html

McCabe Ousted: Uprooting liar-nObama's Deep State?

HWEzX8BdNCH_PUk8T267ibYE1INHWCuMqo1X9j7tdTT3L8bz_QN8yzRRJIY6ExeGDbyormQFakrFUX_60HLh5ryi0bwTz2jmC1T2gaEZzvEyamnH3WUJTUK2od0xBTU=s0-d-e1-ft#%3Ca%20rel%3Dnofollow%20href=?width=450by Thomas Gallatin:  Monday afternoon the news broke that Barack liar-nObama-era FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe had either “stepped down” or was “removed.” However it happened, the fact is McCabe is now no longer working at the FBI. The sudden announcement of McCabe’s departure comes suspiciously on the heels of FBI Director Christopher Wray’s review of the confidential FISA memo — the same memo the House Intel Committee just voted to make public. Recall that it was reported that Wray had earlier resisted pressure from President Donald Trump to remove McCabe, so why now the quick change of mind? Could the memo shed some light on the reason? Or has Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who is currently reviewing the FBI’s investigation of liar-Hillary Clinton, come across some damning material?

While more information on the level of deep state corruption is bound to surface, Democrats have sought to spin the narrative that Trump and Republicans are the ones guilty of undermining and damaging the FBI’s reputation. It’s the same tactic used by the mainstream media, which has regularly blamed Trump for supposedly undermining American’s trust in the MSM when the reality is they have done it to themselves. Similarly, while Trump has been somewhat careless with his rhetoric on the DOJ and FBI, the fact remains that evidence coming out appears to show a corruption problem with certain members within the agency. Members like former Director James Comey, who has admitted to leaking negative information on Trump to the press in order to get the special counsel created, and who decided to exonerate liar-Hillary Clinton months before the investigation into her illegal email server and handling of classified information was concluded. That corruption extended to anti-Trump agents — the texting bias expressed by lead investigator Peter Strzok and lawyer Lisa Page appears to validate GOP suspicions of a deep state cabal within the FBI leadership.
As for McCabe, his wife ran as a Democrat for a state Senate seat in Virginia and took nearly $700,000 in contributions from donors like Terry McAuliffe linked to theliar-Clinton machine. That was at the same time McCabe supervised the liar-Clinton “probe.” He finally recused himself — one week prior to the election.
Did we mention that McCabe is still set to receive his $1.8 million pension package?
To be clear, the corruption charges against a few key DOJ and FBI operatives is not a “condemnation of the FBI,” but rather a condemnation of a handful of liar-nObama deep state actors within the FBI. Democrats are diverting from that fact by accusing Trump and Republicans of “condemning the FBI.” The fact is the vast majority of the 35,000 people employed by the FBI steadfastly abide by their motto: Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity. It’s a good bet that the majority of FBI agents, whose reputations are being sullied by these corrupt officials, are just as frustrated if not more so by these bad apples.
All organizations are made up of a number of individuals, and while it is hoped that everyone within an organization would follow the rules and guidelines, the reality is people don’t. Why else would there be the need for oversight and ethics committees? The very fact that we need police departments who are themselves are subject to oversight is reason enough to call baloney on the Democrats’ objection to FBI scrutiny. The truth needs to come out, as covering it up will only breed greater distrust of those government agencies tasked with policing and protecting the citizens of this great nation.

Democrat Party of Treason: Conspiracy Theory vs. Conspiracy Fact

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Google+

In order to address the absolute corruption and weaponizing of the FBI and DOJ under President Obama, Hillary Clinton and the Democrat party of treason, let us review the illegal machinations we have suffered the past year. Imagine if the Republicans, upon the election of Barack Hussein Obama, did this?  Excerpting great American mind, the singular Victor Davis Hanson:

  • A nonstop effort by the opposition to use the courts, the legislative branch, the investigatory agencies, and the administrative state to discredit, undermine, and remove an elected government. In modern terms, that might entail opponents suing to challenge the legitimacy of the election, perhaps by charging in court that according to “experts,” voting machines were dysfunctional and thus some state tallies were null and void.
  • Subvert the Constitution by pressuring state electors not to honor their constitutionally defined responsibilities to vote in accordance with the popular vote in their respective states. It might also include an effort to introduce articles of impeachment in the House.
  • Sue under the 25th Amendment to find the president non compos mentis, accompanied by a popular campaign to clinically diagnose the president as mentally unfit or physically decrepit.
  • Use the courts to seek the removal of an elected president on grounds he was a rank profiteer and had violated the Emoluments Clause of the U.S. Constitution
  • File suits with cherry-picked liberal judges to delay and stop the president’s executive orders.
  • On the petty side, an organized effort to discredit a president would range from boycotting the Inauguration to deliberately holding up and delaying confirmation of his appointees.Pop Culture Provocations
Any “resistance” aimed at removing a president would also involve the proverbial street and popular culture. A good way might be to implant to such a degree the idea of killing or harming the president that it would become something more than just a sick fantasy, but become contextualized as an act of near patriotism across the broader culture. Celebrities accordingly might dream out loud at rallies of blowing up the White House. Or a movie star might announce to his audience his hopes for a repeat of a John Wilkes Booth-style assassination. Or a state legislator might post hopes that someone would kill the president. Or a rapper might release a video in which the president is shown shot. Or a comedian on camera might hold up a facsimile of the bloody severed head of the president. Or a New York troupe might perform public plays in which the president each evening is ritually stabbed to death. We might also see and hear ad nauseam from actors and other celebrities expressing desires to beat him to a pulp, or hang him, or shoot him—all the insidious efforts not of those easily disregarded as unhinged, but of those with public personas, and with the effect of incrementally normalizing violence against the president. Late night comedians might vie with each other in their profanity and scatology, ridiculing the president with references to him fellating a foreign leader. Who knows, a secret service agent might even post a brag that she would not be willing to “take a bullet” to defend the likes of this president. Or a left-wing zealot might think shooting Republican congressmen was doing his part to thwart the evil Trump agenda. All that, too, transpired in Trump’s first year.Blue, anti-Trump states might seek to nullify federal law, in the fashion that the states of the Old South insisted that they were not subject to federal jurisdictions. California, for example, might declare itself a sanctuary state, a declaration that would forbid federal immigration agents from enforcing fully the law. Or the states might incessantly sue the president’s administration on everything from immigration to environmental policy—such that every two weeks California is ritually filing a new suit in a friendly court to curtail federal government jurisdiction over state residents. The California governor might declare the president an immoral agent who had no fear of God, as grandees in his state talked of Calexit, a secession from the president’s United States. Or the California legislature might dream of subverting the new federal code curtailing state tax deductions in adolescent ways that would earn any taxpayer who tried such a con an IRS indictment.

In fact, in just Trump’s first year, we have seen all those efforts transpire as well.

Control the Media, Control the Narrative
In historian Edward Luttwak’s semi-serious Coup d’état: A Practical Handbook, control of the media is essential to abort a leader’s term. Ideally, a resistance should hope to so influence or enlist popular television, radio, electronic media and print journalism to ensure that 90 percent of all coverage of the president would be classified as negative. Reporters would issue fake news reports, ranging from stories that the president deliberately phoned a foreign leader and threatened invasion, or in racist fashion had insulted minorities by removing the bust of a black civil rights icon from the West Wing. Some reporters would use on-air obscenity and scatology in expressing their hatred of the president, in efforts to normalize the once abnormal. The more theoretical would ponder the need to jettison disinterested reporting, claiming that the danger of Trump justified biased coverage. The deep-state media might brand as believable a fake-news, tell-all book about the secret and private lives of the Trump inner circle.

All of that happened in 2017. And it’s still happening.

What better way to derail a presidency would there be than to allow a blank-check special counsel to search out alleged criminal activity on the part of the president? We have seen FBI Director James Comey confess that he deliberately leaked, likely illegally, confidential notes of a meeting with president Trump to the media, with the expressed intent of creating a “scandal” requiring a “special counsel”—a gambit that worked to perfection when Comey’s close friend, former FBI Director Robert Mueller was appointed.

To facilitate those efforts, the counsel would appoint to his team several attorneys who despised the very target of their investigation. In fact, many special investigators have given generously to the campaign of Trump’s past political opponent Hillary Clinton and in at least one case had worked previously for the Clinton Foundation. Note that after nearly a year, the Mueller investigation has not indicted anyone on collusion charges and is unlikely to. Rather, in special counsel trademark, low-bar fashion, it is seeking to indict and convict suspects for not telling the whole truth during interrogations, or violating other statutes. As Peter Strzok—once one of the FBI’s lead investigators in the Mueller investigation—concluded of the “collusion” allegation to his mistress Lisa Page: there was “no big there there.”

The FBI itself would have earlier trafficked in a fraudulent document funded by the Clinton campaign to “prove” Trump and his team were such dangers to the republic that they required surveillance under FISA court warrants and thus should surrender their constitutional rights of privacy. The ensuing surveillance, then, would be widely disseminated among Obama Administration officials, with the likely intent that names would be unmasked and leaked to the anti-Trump press—again, in efforts to discredit, first, the Trump campaign, and later the Trump transition and presidency. A top official of the prior Department of Justice would personally consult the authors of the smear dossier in efforts to ensure that its contents would become useful and known.

In fact, all that and more has already transpired.

    Subversion as Plain as Day
Key officials of the prior government would likewise weigh in constantly to oppose the subsequent Trump agenda and demonize their own president. Samantha Power, Susan Rice, and Ben Rhodes would warn the country of the threats posed by their successor, but fail to disclose that they had previously requested to view FISA surveillance of the Trump team and to unmask the names of U.S. citizens which predictably soon appeared in media reports. Former Secretary of State John Kerry, according to the Jerusalem Post, assured a prominent Palestinian government leader, “that he should stay strong in his spirit and play for time, that he will not break and will not yield to President Trump’s demands.” Kerry reportedly further assured the Palestinian representative that the president may not be in White House for much longer and would likely not complete his first term. In sum, the former American secretary of state all but advised a foreign government that his own president is illegitimate and thus to be ignored or resisted in the remaining time before he is removed.

If any of these efforts were undertaken in 2009 to subvert the presidency of Barack Obama popular outrage might well have led to criminal indictments. If Hollywood grandees had promised to do to Barack Obama what they boast doing to Donald Trump, the entire industry would have been discredited—or given the Obama investigatory treatment.

  • Indeed, in many cases between 2009-2017, U.S. citizens the Obama Administration found noncompliant with its agendas became targets of the IRS for their political activity or monitored by the Justice Department. The latter included reporters from the Associated Press and James Rosen of Fox News. Many a journalist’s sources were prosecuted under the Espionage Act of 1917.  In another case, a filmmaker had his parole revoked and was scapegoated and jailed to advance a false administration narrative about the death of four Americans in Benghazi. Still others were surveilled by using fraudulent documents to obtain FISA court orders.

Hillary’s ‘Sure’ Victory Explains Most Everything

Stretching or breaking the law on her behalf would have been rewarded by a President Clinton.

By Victor Davis Hanson — January 30, 2018

The Page-Strzok text exchanges might offer a few answers. Or, as Lisa Page warned her paramour as early as February 2016, at the beginning of the campaign and well before the respective party nominees were even selected:

One more thing: she [Hillary Clinton] might be our next president. The last thing you need us going in there loaded for bear. You think she’s going to remember or care that it was more doj than fbi?

The traditional way of looking at the developing scandals at the FBI and among holdover Obama appointees in the DOJ is that the bizarre atmospherics from candidate and President Trump have simply polarized everyone in Washington, and no one quite knows what is going on.

Another, more helpful, exegesis, however, is to understand that if we’d seen a Hillary Clinton victory in November 2016, which was supposed to be a sure thing, there would now be no scandals at all.

That is, the current players probably broke laws and committed ethical violations not just because they were assured there would be no consequences but also because they thought they’d be rewarded for their laxity.

On the eve of the election, the New York Times tracked various pollsters’ models that had assured readers that Trump’s odds of winning were respectively 15 percent, 8 percent, 2 percent, and less than 1 percent. Liberals howled heresy at fellow progressive poll guru Nate Silver shortly before the vote for daring to suggest that Trump had a 29 percent chance of winning the Electoral College.

Hillary Clinton herself was not worried about even the appearance of scandal caused by transmitting classified documents over a private home-brewed server, or enabling her husband to shake down foreign donations to their shared foundation, or destroying some 30,000 emails. Evidently, she instead reasoned that she was within months of becoming President Hillary Clinton and therefore, in her Clintonesque view of the presidency, exempt from all further criminal exposure. Would a President Clinton have allowed the FBI to reopen their strangely aborted Uranium One investigation; would the FBI have asked her whether she communicated over an unsecure server with the former president of the United States?

Former attorney general Loretta Lynch, in unethical fashion, met on an out-of-the-way Phoenix tarmac with Bill Clinton, in a likely effort to find the most efficacious ways to communicate that the ongoing email scandal and investigation would not harm Hillary Clinton’s candidacy. When caught, thanks to local-news reporters who happened to be at the airport, Lynch sort of, kind of recused herself. But, in fact, at some point she had ordered James Comey not to use the word “investigation” in his periodic press announcements about the FBI investigation.

How could Lynch in the middle of an election have been so silly as to allow even the appearance of impropriety? Answer: There would have been no impropriety had Hillary won — an assumption reflected in the Page-Strzok text trove when Page texted, about Lynch, “She knows no charges will be brought.” In fact, after a Clinton victory, Lynch’s obsequiousness in devising such a clandestine meeting with Bill Clinton may well have been rewarded: Clinton allies leaked to the New York Times that Clinton was considering keeping Lynch on as the attorney general.

How could former deputy director of the FBI Andrew McCabe assume an oversight role in the FBI probe of the Clinton email scandal when just months earlier his spouse had run for state office in Virginia and had received a huge $450,000 cash donation from Common Good VA, the political-action committee of long-time Clinton-intimate Terry McAuliffe?

Again, the answer was clear. McCabe assumed that Clinton would easily win the election. Far from being a scandal, McCabe’s not “loaded for bear” oversight of the investigation, in the world of beltway maneuvering, would have been a good argument for a promotion in the new Clinton administration. Most elite bureaucrats understood the Clinton way of doing business, in which loyalty, not legality, is what earned career advancement.

Some have wondered why the recently demoted deputy DOJ official Bruce Ohr (who met with the architects of the Fusion GPS file after the election) would have been so stupid as to allow his spouse to work for Fusion — a de facto Clinton-funded purveyor of what turned out to be Russian fantasies, fibs, and obscenities?

Again, those are absolutely the wrong questions. Rather, why wouldn’t a successful member of the Obama administrative aparat make the necessary ethical adjustments to further his career in another two-term progressive regnum? In other words, Ohr rightly assumed that empowering the Clinton-funded dossier would pay career dividends for such a power couple once Hillary was elected. Or, in desperation, the dossier would at least derail Trump after her defeat. Like other members of his byzantine caste, Ohr did everything right except bet on the wrong horse.

What about the recently reassigned FBI lawyer Lisa Page and FBI top investigator Peter Strzok? Their reported 50,000-plus text messages (do the math per hour at work, and it is hard to believe that either had to time to do much of anything else) are providing a Procopian court history of the entire Fusion-Mueller investigation miasma.

So why did Strzok and Page believe that they could conduct without disclosure a romantic affair on FBI-government-owned cellphones? Why would they have been emboldened enough to cite a meeting with Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, in which they apparently discussed the dire consequences of an improbable Trump victory?

I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s [probably Andrew McCabe, then deputy director of the FBI] office that there’s no way Trump gets elected — but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40.

And why would the two believe that they could so candidly express their contempt for a presidential candidate supposedly then under a secret FBI investigation?

Once more, those are the wrong interrogatories. If we consider the mentality of government elite careerists, we see that the election-cycle machinations and later indiscretions of Strzok and Page were not liabilities at all. They were good investments. They signaled their loyalty to the incoming administration and that they were worthy of commendation and reward.

Hillary Clinton’s sure victory certainly also explains the likely warping of the FISA courts by FBI careerists seeking to use a suspect dossier to surveille Trump associates — and the apparent requests by Samantha Power, Susan Rice, and others to read surveilled transcripts of Trump associates, unmask names, and leak them to pet reporters. Again, all these insiders were playing the careerist odds. What we view as reprehensible behavior, they at the time considered wise investments that would earn rewards with an ascendant President Hillary Clinton.

Did Cheryl Mills, Huma Abedin, or Debbie Wasserman Shultz worry about their fabrications, unethical behavior, and various conspiratorial efforts to ensure that Hillary Clinton would be exempt from criminal liability in her email shenanigans, and that she would win the Democratic nomination and general election? Not when their equally unethical and conspiratorial boss would appreciate her subordinate soul mates. For a deep-state careerist without ethical bearings, one of the advantages of a Clinton sure-thing presidency would be that the Clintons are known to reward loyalty more highly than morality.

Then we arrive at the tragic farce of former FBI director James Comey. It is now easy to deplore Comey’s unethical and unprofessional behavior: In all likelihood, he wrote an exoneration of Hillary Clinton before he even interviewed her and her top aides; then he lied about just that sequence while he was under oath and virtue-signaling before Congress; he feigned concern about Clinton’s felonious behavior but used linguistic gymnastics in his report to ensure his condemnation would be merely rhetorical and without legal consequences.

Had Hillary won, as she was supposed to, Comey would probably have been mildly chastised for his herky-jerky press conferences, but ultimately praised for making sure the email scandal didn’t derail her. Comey’s later implosion, recall, occurred only after the improbable election of Donald Trump, as he desperately reversed course a fourth time and tried to ingratiate himself with Trump while hedging his bets by winking and nodding at the ongoing, unraveling fantasy of the Steele dossier.

And Barack Obama? We now know that he himself used an alias to communicate at least 20 times with Hillary on her private, non-secure gmail account. But Obama lied on national TV, saying he learned of Hillary’s illegal server only when the rest of the nation did, by reading the news. Would he have dared to lie so publicly if he’d assumed that Trump’s presidency was imminent? Would he ever have allowed his subordinates to use the dossier to obtain FISA warrants and pass around and unmask the resulting surveillance transcripts if he’d seen Trump as the likely winner and a potentially angered president with powers to reinvestigate all these illegal acts?

We sometimes forget that Barack Obama, not candidate Hillary Clinton, was president when the FBI conducted the lax investigation of the email scandal, when Loretta Lynch outsourced her prosecutorial prerogatives to James Comey, when the FBI trafficked with the Clinton-funded Fusion GPS dossier, when various DOJ and FBI lawyers requested FISA-approved surveillance largely on the basis of a fraudulent document, and when administration officials unmasked and leaked the names of American citizens.

Had Hillary Clinton polled ten points behind Donald Trump in early 2016, we’d have none of these scandals — not because those involved were moral actors (none were), but because Hillary would have been considered yesterday’s damaged goods and not worth any extra-legal exposure taken on her behalf.

Similarly, if the clear front-runner Hillary Clinton had won the election, we’d now have no scandals. Again, the reason is not that she and her careerist enablers did not engage in scandalous behavior, but that such foul play would have been recalibrated as rewardable fealty and absorbed into the folds of the progressive deep state.

The only mystery in these sordid scandals is how a president Hillary Clinton would have rewarded her various appendages. In short, how would a President Clinton have calibrated the many rewards for any-means-necessary help? Would Lynch’s tarmac idea have trumped Comey’s phony investigation? Would Glen Simpson now be White House press secretary, James Comey Clinton’s CIA director; would Andrew McCabe be Comey’s replacement at the FBI?

In reductionist terms, every single scandal that has so far surfaced at the FBI and DOJ share a common catalyst. What now appears clearly unethical and probably illegal would have passed as normal in a likely 16-year Obama-Clinton progressive continuum.

A final paradox: Why did so many federal officials and officeholders act so unethically and likely illegally when they were convinced of a Clinton landslide? Why the overkill?

The answer to that paradox lies in human nature and can be explored through the hubris and nemesis of Greek tragedy — or the 1972 petty burgling of a Watergate complex apartment when Richard Nixon really was on his way to a landslide victory.

Needlessly weaponizing the Obama FBI and the DOJ was akin to Hillary Clinton’s insanely campaigning in the last days of the 2016 campaign in red-state Arizona, the supposed “cherry atop a pleasing electoral map.”

In short, such hubris was not just what Peter Strzok in August 2016 termed an “insurance policy” against an unlikely Trump victory. Instead, the Clinton and Obama officials believed that it was within the administrative state’s grasp and their perceived political interest not just to beat but to destroy and humiliate Donald Trump — and by extension all the distasteful deplorables and irredeemables he supposedly had galvanized.

{rickwells.us} ~ Judge Jeanine Pirro uses the text messages between FBI subversive agents Peter Strzok and Lisa Page to demonstrate... that “they were worried about actually doing a real investigation because they thought liar-Clinton she’d be president.” She addresses the conflicting information coming out of the FBI regarding the “missing text messages,” saying, “One of two things, either the FBI is lying or the Inspector General performs miracles. And then I want to know who deleted them, who had them removed, who lied about them never being captured or recorded, and what are you going to do about it?” DeSantis says, “Of course they were there, so the question is did the DOJ / FBI do kind of the John Koskinen treatment of Lois Lerner’s emails, just not even try to look for them or did they actually concoct this to try to mislead the Congress?”... https://rickwells.us/desantis-nunes-memo-sessions/.

{ frontpagemag.com } ~ Every now and then I get tired of being lectured about "alternative facts" from lefties who have absolutely no regard for the facts... I went through this with the terrorists and pigs story in the Philippines. Despite the abundance of historical evidence, from papers of the day, including the New York Times, and from General Pershing's own memoirs, the media and its fact checkers insisted it never happened. So I'm loath to tackle another of these media myths, but here we go again. To start with, it's important to note that there's no question about the existence of black soldiers in the Confederacy. There can be a debate about South Carolina, specifically. And the debate is about how one defines black people. There were Confederate soldiers from South Carolina who would be considered black today, but weren't considered black then because they were mixed race...   https://www.frontpagemag.com/point/269156/fact-check-yes-there-were-black-confederate-daniel-greenfield

{ nationalreview.com } ~ Let’s say I’m an assistant United States attorney in, oh I don’t know, Montana... I get to work one morning and I say to myself, “Self, you know what would be really interesting? Why, to ask Barack liar-nObama some questions.” Sure, there are a lot of people who’d like to do that — liar-nObama’s a very interesting guy. But see, I’m not just “a lot of people.” I’m a federal prosecutor, just like Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Thanks to this nifty federal grand jury we’ve empaneled here in Montana, I’ve got subpoena power, just like Mueller. My column argued not only that President Trump should refuse to be questioned by Mueller’s alpha-prosecutors, but that it would be wrong for Mueller to seek to interview the president of the United States unless he can first show cause that (1) a serious crime implicating the president has been committed and (2) the president is possessed of testimony that is both essential to proving the crime and unobtainable by alternative means. In response, some commentators who were sympathetic to this standard wondered how it would be enforced...   http://www.nationalreview.com/article/455869/robert-mueller-investigation-rod-rosenstein-shirks-his-supervising-role?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=NR%20Daily%20Monday%20through%20Friday%202018-01-29&utm_term=NR5PM%20Actives

Those sirens are about to get a lot louder once the Nunes memo is released. That vote is set to take place as early as Monday. { nationalreview.com } ~ Breaking: For seven consecutive months, President Trump has not fired Special Counsel Robert Mueller... This qualifies as news in the context of last week’s New York Times blockbuster story about what turned out to be a non-event: Six months ago, Trump considered cashiering Mueller but met stiff resistance from the White House counsel and never took any serious steps to follow through. This has, again, focused attention on the effort by Democrats and a few Republicans who are proposing legislation to bar the president from dismissing the prosecutor, who is an executive-branch subordinate. These lawmakers clearly missed school the day the separation of powers was taught. As even the Times report acknowledges, the tack taken by Trump’s team in recent months has been cooperation with the investigation. This was after an initial confrontational pose that never manifested itself in obstructive conduct. The White House’s early-stage frustration was understandable. In appointing Mueller, the Justice Department imposed no real limits on the investigation. Former FBI director James Comey had told the president multiple times that he was not suspected of wrongdoing in connection with Russia’s interference in the election; yet, as soon as Mueller was appointed, the focus of the investigation appeared to shift from Russia to obstruction — based mainly on the firing of Comey...   http://www.nationalreview.com/article/455877/congress-protecting-mueller-unconstitutional-unwise?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=NR%20Daily%20Monday%20through%20Friday%202018-01-29&utm_term=NR5PM%20Actives

by Caroline Glick
{truthrevolt.org} ~ Vice President Mike Pence gave an epic speech at the Knesset this week. His was the most powerful embrace of Zionism and the Jewish people any foreign leader has ever presented. Pence’s fluency in Jewish history, and his comprehension of the centrality of the both the Bible and the Land of Israel in the vast flow of that history in far-flung-exile communities across time and space was spellbinding. He touched the hearts of his audience, causing knots in the throats of most of the people sitting in the Knesset on Monday afternoon.

Pence’s speech was rendered poignant and the friendship he bore became tinged with urgency with the publication, the very next day, of the latest Pew Center survey on American views of Israel.

Speaking in the name of the American people he represents, Pence said on Monday: “The friendship between our people has never been deeper.”

And when it comes to the Republican voters who elected President Donald Trump and Vice President Pence a year and two months ago, Pence is certainly correct. But the Pew data showed that on Israel, as on so many other issues, the cleavage between Republicans and Democrats is vast and unbridgeable.

Most of the coverage of the Pew survey focused reasonably on its main finding. The good news is that overall American support for Israel over the Palestinians remains more or less constant, and overwhelming. Forty-six percent of Americans support Israel over the Palestinians while a mere 16% of Americans support the Palestinians against Israel. The numbers haven’t changed much since polling began in 1978.

But then the news becomes more fraught. The disparity between Republican support for Israel and Democratic support for Israel has never been greater. Whereas 79% of Republicans support Israel over the Palestinians, only 27% of Democrats do. Moreover, the further one goes to the Left among Democratic voters, the more anti-Israel the respondents become. Liberal Democrats are now nearly twice as likely to support the Palestinians over Israel as they are to support Israel over the Palestinians. Thirty-five percent of liberal Democrats support the Palestinians against Israel. A mere 19% support Israel more than the Palestinians.

Conservative and moderate Democrats still support Israel far more than they support the Palestinians with 35% of moderate and conservative Democrats supporting Israel over the Palestinians, and 17% supporting the Palestinians more than Israel. But the level of support for Israel among this demographic has dropped precipitously in the last year and a half. In the previous survey, which took place in April 2016, support for Israel was 53%, or 19 points higher.

In other words, the last year and a half has seen a precipitous drop in Democratic support for Israel even as Republican support for Israel has grown ever higher.

For Israel’s leaders, as distressing as these numbers are, they don’t give an indication of how Israel should relate to the vast disparities in US support for Israel as they plot policies for the future.

The survey does provide that answer though. The last question in the survey asked respondents about the viability of the so-called two-state solution.

They were asked, “Can a way be found for Israel and an independent Palestinian state to coexist peacefully or not?”

The answers were notable. While among the general population, faith in the two-state solution runs 49% to 39%, that support is indirectly proportionate to respondents’ support for Israel. The more they support Israel, the less they believe in the two-state solution.

Americans who support the Palestinians more than they support Israel, believe in the viability of the two-state solution runs 64% to 28%. Americans who support Israel more than the Palestinians view the two-state solution as nonviable by a margin of 40% to 51%.

On the face of things, this seems like an anomaly. For a generation, three successive administrations have insisted not only that the two-state solution is the only path to peace and security for Israel and the Palestinians. Presidents liar-Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack liar-nObama all insisted that Israel’s very survival as a Jewish state is contingent on it surrendering land it has held for 50 years to the PLO. Americans have been told that the only way to truly care about Israel is to support the establishment of a Palestinian state in Gaza, Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem.

And here we see that the US public has reached the opposite conclusions. Americans who oppose Israel support the establishment of a Palestinian state along the lines set out by liar-Clinton, Bush and liar-nObama. Americans who support Israel view such a prospect as impossible.

What explains this disparity? Two data points in the survey point to a reasonable explanation.

According to the survey, the greatest leap in Republican support for Israel occurred since 2001. In the past 17 years, Republican support for Israel leaped from 50% to 79%.

On the Democratic side, an opposite trend occurred. Since 2001, Democratic support for Israel has dropped from 38% to 27%.

Two events occurred in 2001 that set the parties on disparate paths: the September 11 attacks and the disputed results of the 2000 presidential race between scum-Al Gore and Bush.

The September 11 attacks caused Republican voters to study the Middle East, including Israel, more closely than they ever had before. And the more familiar they became with Islamism, jihad and the other pathologies of the Arab world, the more supportive of Israel they became. The fact that the Palestinians rejected peace at the Camp David summit in July 2000 and that by the time the September 11 attacks occurred they were engaged in the largest terrorist onslaught against Israel in history, reinforced the sense among Republicans that Israel is the US’s closest ally in the war on Islamic terrorism.

On the other hand, the Democrats’ rejection of the legitimacy of the 2000 election results set the party on a course of radicalization. The best indication of the Democrats’ radicalization on Israel came with the precipitous downfall of senator Joseph Lieberman.

Lieberman was a liberal hawk, an ardent supporter of Israel and a proud Jew. In 2000 his positions had sufficient traction among Democratic voters to cause scum-Gore to select him as his running mate in the presidential election.

Just six years later, a transformed Democratic party rejected Lieberman when he ran for reelection to his senate seat in the Democratic primary in Connecticut. His challenger, Ned Lamont, defeated Lieberman after running a campaign laced with antisemitism and anti-Zionism. Lieberman’s longtime ally, then-senator from New York liar-  Hillary Clinton, who was looking forward to the 2008 presidential race, refused to support him.

Today Democratic presidential hopefuls like New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker have discarded their previous support for Israel to satisfy their party’s increasingly radical, anti-Israel base.

The Democrats’ move to the Left has caused them to ascribe increasingly to identity politics as the basis for policy-making. Identity politics dictate a pecking order of victims. The greater a group’s status as victim, the more the Democrats support it. In this taxonomy, Israel has been determined to be an oppressor, and the Palestinians are defined as the victims.

The problem with identity politics, at least insofar as Israel is concerned, is that there is no basis in fact for the determination that Israel is the bad guy and the Palestinians are the good guys. To the contrary. As the steep rise in Republican support over the past 17 years demonstrates, the more you know, the greater the likelihood that you will support Israel.

Rather than being a fact-based conclusion, the determination that Israel is bad and the Palestinians are good is an ideological dictate. And this presents Israel with an intractable problem as far as Democrats are concerned.

Israel cannot reason Democrats out of an anti-Israel position that they weren’t reasoned into. Israel has no ability whatsoever to convince the Democrats to rethink their animosity, when they never thought about it to begin with. They simply accepted the dictates of their political and ideological camp.

This brings us back to Pence, and the Trump administration’s extraordinary, voter-supported friendship for Israel and what it means for Israel today, as the prospect of an impossibly hostile Democratic administration in as little as three years lurks in the corner.

The most significant “news” that Pence announced in his address was Trump’s determination to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem by the end of 2019. This is important because, given the hostility of the Democrats, there is every reason to believe that if a Democratic administration takes power in 2021, Trump’s decision to move the embassy will be canceled if it hasn’t already happened.

Just as this is the time for the US to move its embassy to Israel’s capital, now is also the time for Israel to ditch the failed two-state model before it is too late.

Israel will never have a better opportunity than it has today to convince an American administration to abandon the anti-Israel narrative at the foundation of the two-state formula. That narrative, which asserts that there is no peace because there is no Palestinian state, places the blame for the absence of peace between the Palestinians and Israel on Israel alone.

Today there is an administration that is open to hearing an alternative narrative that portrays Israel properly as the good guy, and the Palestinians as the hopelessly intransigent foe that they have always been.

Now is the time for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his colleagues in the government to be speaking this plain truth in one voice. And now is the time for them to decide on, explain and implement a policy based on Israel’s rights and interests that will secure Israel’s strategic viability and position vis-à-vis the Palestinians for years to come. Such a policy, which will involve applying Israeli law over large swaths of Judea and Samaria, is clear, easy to explain and will successfully ensure the civil rights of Jews and Arabs alike for generations.

No, Israel’s efforts to explain itself will not crack through the closed intellectual circle of identity politics and partisanship. But that is why Israel needs to act now so that the new policy is explained and implemented along the same timetable as the US Embassy moves to Jerusalem.

By the time the 2020 US election campaign begin, Israel should have already determined and implemented its new policy. As Pence demonstrated so eloquently at the Knesset this week, Israel has a friend the likes of which it has never seen in the White House today. And if President Trump is not president in January 2021, Israel will face an administration that will make us miss liar-nObama.

Pence and Pew showed us what we have and what awaits us. Now is the time for Israel to act.

{ washingtonexaminer.com } ~ The House Intelligence Committee meets at 5 p.m. Monday in the Capitol... The meeting will give the committee its first opportunity to vote on the question of releasing the so-called "FISA abuse" memo that has captured Washington's attention in recent days. Since the GOP holds a 13 to 9 advantage on the committee, the overwhelming likelihood is that if there is a vote, the panel will decide, along party lines, to release the memo. At that point, House rules call for the committee to await a decision by the president on whether he supports or opposes release of the memo. President Trump has made clear he supports release, so the memo could be made public quickly. The public might also learn committee Democrats' plans for a counter-memo. Ranking member Rep. scum-Adam Schiff has accused Republicans of cherry-picking and distorting the intelligence underlying the GOP memo, and last Wednesday announced that Democrats would "draft our own memorandum, setting out the relevant facts and exposing the misleading character of the Republicans' document."...  http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/byron-york-house-intel-meets-monday-memo-vote-possible-sessions-softening/article/2647342

Republicans in Congress and the Trump administration failed to fulfill their commitment to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 201... but they did succeed in repealing the tax penalties enforcing the law’s individual mandate, starting in 2019. The GOP still might try again to fully repeal and replace the ACA in 2018, perhaps with a modified version of the Graham-Cassidy legislation. However, with Republicans now down to a 51-seat majority in the Senate and some House and Senate members facing difficult mid-term elections this November, it will be even more challenging to get a sweeping rollback of the ACA through Congress in 2018 than it was in 2017. Republicans would have a better chance of getting something passed if they lowered their sights and used the possibility of enacting bipartisan market stabilization legislation to achieve more limited objectives. Senator RINO-Susan Collins (R-ME) and others are pressing GOP leaders to pass the compromise plan sponsored by Senators Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Patty Murray (D-WA) early this year, along with additional reinsurance funding. That legislation could serve as the vehicle for Republicans to pursue additional changes in current law to move the overall system in their preferred direction...  https://www.aei.org/publication/after-the-mandate-republicans-need-a-plan-to-broaden-enrollment-in-more-affordable-insurance/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiWldOa05qVmlZMlUyTXpkbCIsInQiOiJvejFyNnUzT2NjeTByN0FvMHJ0NnRSZmMxZzdqQ0xHRGtwcCtLQ3ZSeWdlNmtGRG9VK2FCSVo4amVTZ2lNck9TTlVwTnM2eE95UHF2Q0lZR2w3UnM0b3JFSmpERTdSTFllZEFDOXlBOENtUDNjek1nYk5OYkVSak1WMDE0MUJsMiJ9

{ defenddemocracy.org } ~ President Donald Trump threatened Thursday to cut off as much as $700 million in annual U.S. aid to the Palestinians... if their leaders don’t begin serious peace negotiations with Israel, but the Palestinian leadership remained defiant. Defiance might make Palestinian leaders feel good momentarily, but it doesn’t make much sense to deliberately antagonize their largest donor and the only arbiter of the peace process with Israel. From all appearances, the Palestinians are now digging in for a fight with the Trump administration, and they don’t seem to be interested in deviating from their hardline position anytime soon. Tensions have been running high between the U.S. and Palestinians since President Trump’s Dec. 6 decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and eventually move the U.S. embassy there from Tel Aviv. The decision did not technically change the status of Jerusalem in final bilateral negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, but it certainly made it clear that America would no longer wait for negotiations to make its positions known...   http://www.defenddemocracy.org/media-hit/schanzer-jonathan-palestinians-are-taking-a-huge-risk-by-ignoring-trumps-threat-to-cut-off-us/

House panel poised to vote on surveillance
memo release, as FBI boss pays visit to Hill
by Joseph Weber

{ foxnews.com } ~ A key House committee is set to vote as early as Monday evening on whether to make public a classified memo...
that top congressional Republicans say details government surveillance abuses -- and has emerged at the center of a power struggle in Washington. Those who have seen the document suggest it reveals what role the unverified anti-Trump "dossier" played in the application for a surveillance warrant on at least one President Trump associate. While the White House seems to favor the memo's release, the Justice Department has pushed back hard. Sources told Fox News' Catherine Herridge that FBI Director Christopher Wray went to the Capitol on Sunday to view the four-page memo...   http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/01/29/house-panel-poised-to-vote-on-surveillance-memo-release-as-fbi-boss-pays-visit-to-hill.html

{townhall.com} ~ Swell, our beloved Hollywood stars are busy crafting their politicized speeches for the Academy Awards program. I'll bet you can't wait.

Oscar-nominated English actor Daniel Kaluuya, in an interview with W magazine, opined that racism is more pronounced in America than in Britain. So happy to learn this and can't wait for his upcoming lecture.

Well, these mega-pundits might as well go three for three so far in 2018. Hosting the Golden Globes ceremony earlier this month, Seth Meyers caricatured President Trump as a xenophobe and lampooned him for alienating North Korea. A few weeks later, at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, host Kristen Bell humorlessly jabbed first lady Melania Trump for failing in her mission to end cyberbullying. They must measure up to the Trump-bashing standards of 2017's Emmy Awards, where, following the lead of smarmy host Stephen Colbert, the actors launched merciless volleys against the president, including one from Lily Tomlin: "And in 2017, we still refuse to be controlled by a sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot."

I've attended many award ceremonies, and apart from politically related ones, I've rarely heard speakers wax political, not only because the events are nonpolitical but because they don't want to needlessly offend those with different views.

It's apparent that Hollywood actors don't have these concerns and therefore exercise no restraint. That they so openly spout off about politics shows they have no fear of offending their like-minded colleagues and couldn't care less about alienating anyone in the viewing audience.

A few examples. "Grey's Anatomy" star Ellen Pompeo tweeted, "News flash... I don't want trump supporters for fans Einstein." Olivia Wilde, starring in "1984" on Broadway, tweeted, "Trumpy Trolls defending racism as free speech and threatening to boycott my movies, PLEASE F---ING DO." Don Cheadle, after tweet-slamming someone for being "woefully uninformed and egregiously bereft of empathy and insight," smugly followed up with this: "If I lose fans over this, they weren't real fans. And I'm only bitter about what's happening to our country. You good with all this? Why?" Michael Shannon, while promoting his movie "Nocturnal Animals," said: "This country's filled with ignorant jackasses. The big red dildo running through the middle of our country needs to be annexed to be its own country of moronic a--holes. You can call it the United States of Moronic F---ing A--holes." He also said, "If you're voting for Trump, it's time for the urn." And last year, Meryl Streep blasted Trump, without mentioning his name, as a powerful bully whose "violence incites violence."

I've sometimes wondered what makes Hollywood so ideologically unimaginative. Is there some common DNA strain among film industry players that makes them liberal? Were most of those who have grown up to become part of that industry raised by leftist parents? Do actors new to Hollywood arrive as politically blank slates and become instantly converted? Are they shamed into toeing the party line?

Of course, there are Hollywood conservatives, and I'm proud to call some of them my friends, but we all know they are a fractional exception; at least, those willing to publicly admit it are scarce.

I can't think of a group of people more cloistered, more isolated from dissenting viewpoints. How can any group of people -- other than political organizations, whose members join specifically to support the particular cause -- think so uniformly?

They aren't just monolithic; they possess the self-certainty of religious cultists, who are contemptuous of those who disagree, thinking of them as lesser beings woefully ignorant and irredeemably immoral.

You've surely witnessed their judgmentalism, their preachiness, their superiority, their ontological certitude. They obviously haven't a single electron of doubt about their own righteousness and our unrighteousness.

But if they are correct in their worldview and we flyover denizens are as depraved as they think, what kind of supernatural coincidence could have caused all of them to assemble in one place and work in one industry? Is there something about the performing arts that draws moral paragons? As there can be no divine sovereignty in the absence of God, maybe it's rather that thespianism constitutes the most advanced form of Darwinian refinement. Excuse us for being unaware that evolutionary perfection resulted in astonishing close-mindedness.

It's noteworthy that their rejection of God doesn't deter them from mounting their secular pulpits to sermonize. Perhaps it's a blessing that they consider us such despicably lost causes that they merely scold us rather than try to proselytize us.

Are you curious as to whether any of them ever self-reflect or contemplate why, if they're such wonderfully kind and compassionate people, they are so filled with rage, rudeness, meanness and smug incivility?

Isn't it ironic that these actors engage in political commentary to demonstrate their intellectual gravitas but, in the very process, instead display that they are malleable sheep, pawns of the most pernicious sort of groupthink, people who are intellectually incurious and shallow and whose free will has been hijacked by the most unsophisticated form of industry-coerced mind control?
