nObama Attacks Walker's Foreign Policy Bona Fides
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker had decisive words for Barack nObama's deal with Iran: If the Republican were elected president, he would throw out the deal on the first day of office. Barack nObama's reply was haughty, dismissive and forgetful of where he was seven years ago. In an interview with NPR, nObama said of Walker's declaration, "I am confident that any president who gets elected will be knowledgeable enough about foreign policy and knowledgeable enough about the traditions and precedents of presidential power that they won't start calling to question the capacity of the executive branch of the United States to enter into agreements with other countries. … It would be a foolish approach to take, and, you know, perhaps Mr. Walker, after he's taken some time to bone up on foreign policy, will feel the same way." If Walker does reach the White House, he'll have executive experience developed as governor of Wisconsin -- something nObama never gained when he was the freshman senator in Illinois or a community organizer in Chicago. And the fruits of that show in his administration's dealings with Iraq, Ukraine, Yemen, China, etc. Because of that, nObama can only resort to narcissistic counter attacks that label everyone else stupid.  nObama Slams Christians -- Again
Barack nObama, who claims to be a Christian, used Tuesday's Easter Prayer Breakfast at the White House as an opportunity to criticize the faithful. nObama declared, "On Easter, I do reflect on the fact that, as a Christian, I'm supposed to love, and I have to say that sometimes when I listen to less-than-loving expressions by Christians, I get concerned." He is "concerned" about "less-than-loving expressions by Christians," in reference to those who do not comport lockstep with his view on same-sex marriage, while offering not a word on the plight of Christians targeted by Muslims worldwide. Just last week, after nearly 150 students were slaughtered in Kenya, commenting on the massacre, nObama neglected to mention that the killers were Muslim and all the victims Christian. Recall that in February, nObama used the National Prayer Breakfast to defend Islam and criticize Christianity, claiming, "Lest we get on our high horse and think [terrorism] is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ." At both events, nObama's comments were not only inappropriate, they were inaccurate. More...  -The Patriot Post

CRUZ ANSWERS RAND WITH $31 MILLION BOMBSHELL
Bloomberg: “Ted Cruz’s presidential effort is getting into the shock-and-awe fundraising business. An associate of the Texas senator, a recently announced presidential candidate, tells Bloomberg that a cluster of affiliated super-political action committees was formed only this week, and among them they are expected to have $31 million in the bank by Friday. …  According to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission, the treasurer for the cluster of new super-PACS is Dathan Voelter, an Austin, Texas, attorney who is a longtime friend and financial backer of Cruz. All three PACS have a variant of the name “Keep the Promise.” … The group does not plan to reveal the names or number of donors until they are legally required to do so, at the end of the FEC reporting period on July 15.”  -Fox News

REVENGE OF THE NEO-CONS: RAND ATTACKS GET UGLIER
The Foundation for a Security and Prosperous America, the outside group led by GOP insider Rick Reed, is continuing its attack on Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., over the Iran nuclear deal. The group is pushing back after Paul told Fox News’ Sean Hannity the group’s first ad was “almost all lies.” The recently-announced presidential candidate told Hannity, “I have no idea really who these people are, but I would say they’re part of the neocon community. The neoconservatives sort of believe—these are the same people who wanted to give arms to [former Libyan kleptocrat Muammar Gaddafi], and then the next year wanted to topple Gaddafi. They've been on both sides of every war. The only thing consistent about their message is, we should always be at war.”
Air war - Today, the group is out with a second ad.  The ad features Paul saying, “Our national security is not threatened by Iran having one nuclear weapon.” “Senator Paul said that our ads are lies, but there’s no disputing the facts of our ad,” Reed said in a statement. “Senator Paul said just a few weeks ago that he’s in favor of these negotiations with Iran, he’s said himself that he does not favor additional sanctions on Iran, and here’s video of Senator Paul saying that…”

Says Cruz ‘just sort of dangling red meat’ -   More from Paul’s “Hannity” jam session:  “What I’ve tried to do is a little bit different. I spent a lot of time over the last two years trying to show that the Bill of Rights is not just the Second Amendment. And I’m not saying [Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is] not in concert with what I’m doing. But I’m saying the difference is I’m really trying to expand that party to new people. And I don’t think that it’s always just sort of dangling red meat for our people. I want our people to be brand new people who come in the door, who have never thought about being a Republican and say, 'You know what, I’ve never heard a Republican say that before. I’m going to listen to you.’” -Fox News

 The diplomatic track to war
(Caroline Glick) - The world powers assembled at Lausanne, Switzerland, with the representatives of the Islamic Republic may or may not reach a framework deal regarding Iran’s nuclear program...But succeed or fail, the disaster that their negotiations have unleashed is already unfolding. The damage they have caused is irreversible. US President Barack nObama, his advisers and media cheerleaders have long presented his nuclear diplomacy with the Iran as the only way to avoid war. nObama and his supporters have castigated as warmongers those who oppose his policy of nuclear appeasement with the world’s most prolific state sponsor of terrorism. But the opposite is the case. Had their view carried the day, war could have been averted. Through their nuclear diplomacy, nObama and his comrades started the countdown to war.       http://www.aim.org/guest-column/the-diplomatic-track-to-war/?utm_source=AIM+-+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=email040915&utm_medium=email

There is No "Better Deal" with Iran
(Efraim Inbar) - The debate over the pros and cons of the Iran nuclear framework agreement negotiated between the P-5+1 and Iran at Lausanne (April 2, 2015) is simply irrelevant...The search for truth in the conflicting versions and details of the deal coming out of Washington and Tehran is of no consequence. Moreover, the steps suggested by Israel and other critics to improve the efficacy of the deal (by more stringent inspections and so on) will result in little change. The deal is basically dangerous in nature, and needs to be rejected outright. The deal permits Iran to preserve stockpiles of enriched uranium, to continue to enrich uranium, and to maintain illegally built facilities at Fordow and Arak. Even in the absence of a signed full agreement, the US and its negotiating partners have already awarded legitimacy to Iran's nuclear threshold status. In all likelihood, the United States, quite desperate to secure an agreement, will make additional concessions in order to have a signed formal deal – which will not be worth the paper on which it is written.       http://www.meforum.org/5165/iran-no-better-deal

Deal or No Deal?: Iranian Supreme Leader Says No Deal With US
(nicedeb.wordpress.com) - Although the White House has been touting a nuclear framework “deal” with Iran, it is becoming increasingly apparent that the other sides of the talks – the Iranians and the Europeans — do not share their enthusiasm...Yesterday, an Iranian Defense Minister accused the Obama administration of lying because key elements in the White House Fact sheet were not agreed upon. Today, Iranian “Supreme Leader” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said he neither backed nor rejected the deal, but “demanded all sancthttps://nicedeb.wordpress.com/2015/04/09/deal-or-no-deal-iranian-supreme-leader-says-no-deal-with-devilish-us/ions be lifted immediately once a final agreement was concluded.”

Indiana shoots itself in the foot
(Judge Andrew Napolitano) - The turmoil over the efforts by the state of Indiana to make lawful the decisions by operators of public accommodations to decline their services based on their stated religious views...has died down because the legislature amended the offending parts of its legislation so that the new law prohibits denying services based on sexual orientation, yet its affirmations of religious liberty are meaningless. The statute as amended last week basically states that in Indiana all persons have the right to the free exercise of their religion, and if that right clashes with any other claimed right, the courts must take both claims into account and analyze the free exercise of religion claim by using legal standards intended to recognize that it is fundamental. That is already the law of the land everywhere in the United States by virtue of the Free Exercise Clause of the Constitution, which may not be expanded by any state legislature without offending the Establishment Clause. The free exercise of religion is a fundamental liberty; it is fundamental because it is a natural right and is expressly protected by the Constitution.       http://www.wnd.com/2015/04/indiana-shoots-itself-in-the-foot/

Islam and the left: United against Christians
(
Erik Rush) - We are living in a time when the government, press and entertainment media tell us that our economy is on the rebound, nObamacare is facilitating health care for millions more Americans than before its implementation, unemployment has plummeted...and the Islamic Republic of Iran has apparently become America’s ally. So I suppose it should be no surprise that we’re also being told there is nothing at all sinister in the myriad anti-Christian exertions on the part of certain political factions, and that there certainly isn’t any “war on Christianity” going on. Apart from recognizing that there is emergent and coordinated antipathy toward Christians in America, it is of paramount importance to understand some of the universal mechanisms behind the misrepresentations (or lies) I listed, because this will not only facilitate combating these mechanisms, but could serve to rally the troops, as American Christians come to comprehend the level of abject evil within our government and other institutions.       http://www.wnd.com/2015/04/islam-and-the-left-united-against-christians/

 The left’s middle-class problem
(Ramesh Ponnuru, Yuval Levin) - Hilly Clinton isn’t saying much of substance at the moment, but we already have a pretty good idea of the domestic agenda on which she will run next year...In January, the Center for American Progress (CAP), the premier left-wing think tank, released a report on “inclusive prosperity” that synthesizes the best current Democratic thinking about the economy. Co-authored by Lawrence Summers, who held high positions in the last two Democratic administrations, it will probably serve, and was probably designed to serve, as a template for the 2016 campaign. The bad news for conservatives is that, although the progressive agenda outlined in the report is not well suited to the circumstances and challenges of contemporary American life, it is designed for political appeal and may well have some. The good news is that, by applying their principles to the core problems Americans now face, conservatives could readily outline an agenda that would both do more to strengthen economic growth and opportunity in America and be more attractive to the public.        http://www.aei.org/publication/the-lefts-middle-class-problem/?utm_source=paramount&utm_medium=email&utm_content=AEITODAY&utm_campaign=040915

An apology, or not an apology? Sweden's Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (right) and King Carl XVI Gustaf sent personal letters to Saudi Arabia's King Salman (left). Löfven claims that the letters did not contain the apology

 Sweden Surrenders to Saudi Arabia
(Ingrid Carlqvist and Lars Hedegaard) - After weeks of diplomatic wrangling and recrimination, the Saudi government on March 27 announced that it would reinstate its ambassador, Ibrahim bin Saad bin Ibrahim al-Brahim, to Stockholm...The ambassador had been recalled on March 11 as a protest against Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström's criticism of Saudi Arabia's legal practices and treatment of women. In February, she had described conditions in the desert kingdom as "medieval". The recall of the ambassador came a day after the Swedish government announced that it would discontinue its weapons exports to Saudi Arabia. The Arab reaction to what they saw as a deliberate denigration of Saudi Arabia and Islam was fury. In a statement, the foreign ministers of The Arab League said: "Arab countries totally reject Wallström's statement as irresponsible and unacceptable. ... Saudi Arabia's Constitution is based on the Shariah that protects the right of people and safeguards their blood, wealth and honor." But not for women.       http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5503/sweden-saudi-Arabia

Why Do We Let These Vipers Into America?
(George Rasley) - In a hate-filled rant against the country that offered her the privileges of refugee status, food stamps, welfare and a free education for her children, Zubeidat Tsarnaeva...the mother of the radical Muslim Boston Bombers, said through a Russian social media network, "The terrorists are the Americans and everyone knows it. My son is the best of the best.” The son she described as “the best of the best” was of course Dzhokhar Tsarnaev who had just been found guilty of killing three people in the Islamist bomb attack on the 2013 Boston Marathon. Mrs. Tsarnaeva, a Russian native who left the US for Dagestan in 2012 after being charged with shoplifting, brought her sons Dzhokhar and Tamerlan to the United States legally as “refugees.”       http://www.conservativehq.com/node/20071

Egypt, Libya: U.S. Not Supporting Us Against the Islamists
(Ryan Mauro) - The anti-Islamist governments of Egypt and Libya are complaining publicly that the U.S. is not providing enough counter-terrorism assistance and is supportive of the Muslim Brotherhood...They remain appreciative of the U.S.-backed intervention to topple Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi, but criticize the U.S. for not having a plan to contend with Islamist terrorists and militias afterwards. Egyptian President El-Sisi is gently criticizing the U.S. for not supporting the anti-Islamist government of Libya enough. He said, "there is a legitimate [Libyan] government and that government is denied the weapons it needs to confront terrorists." El-Sisi traces it back to original mistakes that the West made in Libya He said that the military intervention to overthrow Gaddafi was the correct decision but the West failed to implement a strategy to help Libyans tackle Islamist forces afterwards.       http://www.clarionproject.org/analysis/egypt-libya-complain-lack-us-anti-terror-aid

Israel Foils Gaza Smugglers
as Hamas Prepares for Next War
Jack Moore

assetContent.act?id=14381039
(jewishworldreview.com) - Israeli authorities have thwarted an attempt to smuggle high-tech equipment into the Gaza Strip, allegedly to militant groups preparing for the next round of conflict with Israel, according to the Israeli defence ministry.

The security operation, conducted by the Shin Bet security agency and the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), uncovered hidden infrared cameras, remote control security cameras and advanced communications equipment in a truck at the Israeli Karem Shalom border crossing which leads into southern Gaza. Both bodies said that there had been over 100 smuggling attempts foiled since the start of the year, an average of more than one a day.

"The items were hidden in an Israeli truck that was carrying communications equipment to the Gaza Strip," the defense ministry said in a statement. "Security elements are continuing the investigation."

Ron Gilran, vice-president at Tel Aviv-based geopolitical risk consultancy the Levantine Group, says that a conflict between Palestinian militants and Israel is just months away and these allegations of smuggling demonstrate that Gaza factions, such as Hamas, are building their capabilities for another confrontation.

“Another war is inevitable. You see a lot of preparation from Hamas, in terms of rocket testing, the resumption of tunnelling efforts,” he notes. “This all goes back to the smuggling because the smuggling is something they need in order to do the preparation for the next round.”

“It could be in the next few months, it could be until the end of the year, but the majority of the estimations I have heard for another conflict are somewhere between four months at the very least and 12 months,” Gilran adds.

In February, three Israeli nationals were arrested over allegations that they were shipping vast amounts of scrap metal to the enclave, allegedly to be used for rocket-making by Hamas, after a truck was inspected in January and found to be holding high-tech equipment stashed among goods allowed into the enclave.

The Shin Bet security agency claimed that $375,000 (£246,000) was paid to the Israeli men and the materials purchased were worth almost $30m (£20m) via Palestinian middlemen.

“In this way, large amounts of materials bought in Israel and smuggled to the Gaza Strip systematically and over time made their way to Hamas’ military infrastructure,” Shin Bet said in a statement released last month.

“In recent weeks, we uncovered a well-oiled operation by Hamas to procure and smuggle resources and materials used to develop its military capabilities in Gaza,” it continued.

In last summer’s 50-day conflict, over 2,100 Palestinians—at least 1,585 civilians of which 530 were children—were killed, according to UN and Palestinian accounts, and 72 Israelis—all but five soldiers—were killed, according to Israeli accounts.

THE FOUNDATION

“I am commonly opposed to those who modestly assume the rank of champions of liberty, and make a very patriotic noise about the people. NYT Fires Squib Load at NRA

The National Rifle Association’s annual convention kicks off today in Nashville, and our own Mark Alexander is there (say hello!). But the event is also a cue for Leftmedia hackery. The New York Times editorial board points and misfires at what it perceives to be hypocrisy: “Seventy-thousand people are expected to attend the National Rifle Association’s convention … and not one of them will be allowed to come armed with guns that can actually shoot. After all the N.R.A. propaganda about how ‘good guys with guns’ are needed to be on guard across American life, from elementary schools to workplaces, the weekend’s gathering of disarmed conventioneers seems the ultimate in hypocrisy.” Except the Times' editors are exactly wrong — per Tennessee law, attendees with a valid carry permit can carry “guns that can actually shoot” in the convention hall. The crack shot editorial team moves on to criticize the NRA for removing firing pins from guns on display, which is also utter nonsense. The logical conclusion of their argument is that all guns on display ought to be loaded, which as any responsible gun owner would tell you is absurd. Besides, it’s a trade show, not a retail expo. So the Times' editors want to pretend the NRA is loaded with hypocrites, while gun companies and owners are merely proving they aren’t reckless.

Oh, Look, a Squirrel! Obama Denounces Conversion Therapy

Besieged by criticism for his disastrous deal with Iran, Barack Obama sought a shiny object to distract — even for just a moment — from more pressing concerns. Thus, senior adviser Valerie Jarrett issued a statement on conversion therapy for the gender disoriented. “The overwhelming scientific evidence demonstrates that conversion therapy, especially when it is practiced on young people, is neither medically nor ethically appropriate and can cause substantial harm,” the statement said, also warning of “potentially devastating effects on the lives of transgender as well as gay, lesbian, bisexual and queer youth.” Therefore, “As part of our dedication to protecting America’s youth, this administration supports efforts to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors.” Recall that until a couple of years ago, Obama was (ostensibly) opposed to same-sex marriage. Now, however, he’s riding a political wave of growing support — or should we say tired and coerced concession — to the homosexual agenda. (Oh, and by the way, the White House will now feature an “all gender bathroom,” too.) This isn’t to evaluate conversion therapy one way or the other, but why on earth would Obama need to offer his opinion other than as a political distraction?

Walter Scott’s Family Tells Sharpton to Stay Away

Yesterday, Al Sharpton was sending mixed messages about his response to the police shooting of Walter Scott in North Charleston, South Carolina. At first, he was rip-roaring ready to make the town Ferguson 2.0. “[National Action Network]’s South Carolina chapter leaders have been with the family since Saturday and our thoughts and prayers are with them and the entire community of North Charleston,” Sharpton said in a statement Friday. “I have spoken with the Scott’s family attorney, Chris Stewart, and plan to visit North Charleston very soon.” But that’s not how Sharpton described the conversations to the New York Daily News. He told the paper he talked with the family, but “we had no plans to go down.” Sharpton continued, “They are in mourning and we would never come unless they asked. We’re willing to be helpful to the family but only when needed.” By the sounds of it, Sharpton learned about the shooting and started preparing for another race-bait crusade before reading the tea leaves. As a person close to the Scott family told NY Daily News, “We don’t want another Ferguson type of circus here.” More…

Experiment Doesn’t Bode Well for Advocates of Women in Combat

A female infantry experiment implemented by the Obama administration has come to a close without the results many wanted to see. The Marine Corps Times reports, “The two-and-a-half year period in which the Marine Corps' Infantry Officer Course became gender-integrated for research will end without a single female graduate. The final iteration of IOC to accept female Marines on a volunteer basis began April 2 with two female participants. One was a volunteer and one was a member of the newly integrated ground intelligence track. Both were dropped that same day during the grueling initial Combat Endurance Test.” All told, 27 women volunteered alongside two other mandatory participants — well short of the Corps goal of 100 — and all failed to pass the entirety of the course. As for the program’s future, the Pentagon will have the final say. According to the Times, “[D]ata will be taken alongside other research points, including the much higher success rate for enlisted female Marines in passing the Infantry Training Battalion course at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. As of February, 358 women had attempted the course, with 122 graduates, for a pass rate of 34 percent. … All this information will be compiled this summer and used to inform Commandant Gen. Joseph Dunford’s recommendation to the secretary of Defense on whether or not to open remaining ground combat units to female troops.” Let’s hope that, rather than playing the sexist card, the Pentagon concedes to common sense — namely, that men and women are created equal, but that doesn’t mean they’re interchangeable. More…

Did Someone Say Lincoln Chafee?

Republican-Turned-Independent-Turned-Democrat Lincoln Chafee is set to challenge Hillary Clinton for the Democrat presidential nomination. (Clinton will likely announce Sunday.) Chafee was a liberal Republican senator from Rhode Island before winning the governor’s seat there as an independent. He then made the switch official and became a Democrat in 2013. In his videoannouncing that he’s “considering” a run for president, he slams Republicans for economic failure before Barack Obama came in and “led admirably” and “revived our economy.” But then he immediately warns of the chaos in the Middle East. Uh, who’s been in charge of foreign policy for the last six years? That may Chafee’s angle for attacking Hillary, as are his boasts about having opposed the Iraq war and resisted Wall Street influence. Will it be enough to challenge Hillary’s coronation? Don’t bet on it. After all, he’s still Lincoln Chafee.

RIGHT ANALYSIS

When Anger Management Leads to Gun Confiscation

2015-04-10-766e9cb5_large.pngAngry man with gun

Anti-Second Amendment zealots are sure to be stirred up by a new study that claims 22 million Americans have severe anger issues and access to guns. The study, conducted by researchers at Harvard, Columbia and Duke universities, goes on to identify these angry people as generally young or middle-aged men living in suburban areas and having a history of impulsive and explosive anger issues. Next up: Gun confiscation.

The study’s authors note that, while laws are already on the books limiting gun access for people with felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence convictions, there have been few attempts to limit access for people with documented anger management issues or alcohol abuse.

In recent years, newly minted federal and state laws focused on limiting gun access to people with mental illness, but so far the results have been mixed. While it has been possible to prevent some mentally ill people from owning firearms, there are also cases where perfectly healthy individuals have had their guns confiscated after being swept up in this dragnet. Furthermore, the study’s authors point out that, even if mentally ill people are removed from the equation entirely, it would reduce violent crime by only 4-5%.

The study concludes that it’s time to widen gun restrictions to include people with other misdemeanor convictions and documented behavior that, according to its findings, indicate the potential for gun violence. The anti-gun lobby is sure to latch onto this study as it continues its fight to remove firearms from private ownership.

Certainly there are people so mentally unstable that they shouldn’t own guns. But who gets to decide just how angry people must be before we revoke their Second Amendment rights? Is it, for example, throwing a rock through a neighbor’s window, or is it something mundane like raising one’s voice in a heated discussion about picking up the trash? Everyone expresses anger, and, while the study defines an “anger problem” through a series of aberrant behaviors like repeatedly destroying property or getting into physical altercations, lawmakers may not adhere to such a strict definition. Nor does it instill confidence that the execution of laws meant to curb gun ownership by so-called angry people will be administered without prejudice. We need only look at the gun-grabbing effect of laws already on the books to prove this point.

Take the case of Michael Roberts, a law-abiding citizen in California who had his 21 firearms, including some irreplaceable family heirlooms, confiscated in 2010 when his doctor filed a restraining order against him. The matter was peacefully resolved, but the police refused to return Roberts' guns despite a court order instructing them to do so. In the end, he sued for and received the cash value of his guns, but the police, who had no such authority under the law, destroyed the firearms.

Sadly, the Roberts case is not unique. States with strict gun laws — California, New Jersey, Massachusetts, et al. — often operate on a confiscate-first, ask-questions-rarely mentality. These types of cases happen under the radar and often go unreported in the media, leading people to think lawful gun owners needn’t fear having their guns confiscated and destroyed by government officials.

The gun grabbers who hide behind state and federal laws count on the bureaucracy to mask their actions and to prevent people from seeking restitution if their guns are confiscated. Oftentimes, the cost of litigation, fees and fines are too great for gun owners to pay, and they have little recourse as their firearms are seized for ginned up reasons.

The right to own firearms is protected by both the Second Amendment and the Fifth Amendment, which covers private property. But if government officials and anti-gun zealots are making the rules, the status of legal gun ownership will remain on precarious ground.

Framework for Iran Deal Collapses

2015-04-10-128baa3f_large.jpg

To those with common sense, and to those who have followed the continuing comedy that is our nuclear negotiation with Iran, this will come as no surprise. But it seems the Obama administration was caught flat-footed when it was learned that the Iranians expect all economic sanctions against them to be lifted once a deal is concluded in June.

Even more grating to Iranian leaders, the American summary of the deal states that “sanctions on Iran for terrorism, human rights abuses, and ballistic missiles will remain in place under the deal.” For that, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali “Yes, Of Course, Death To America” Khamenei claimed the fact sheet was “wrong on most of the issues.” Of course, Khamenei alsorevealed he “was never optimistic about negotiating with America,” and this tends to reflect our opinion about Iran as well. Yet the Obama administration is choosing to believe that the sheer force of their negotiating skills can keep Iran one year away from going nuclear for the next decade.

Skeptical as well, for different reasons, are former secretaries of state Henry Kissinger and George Shultz. They penned a stinging op-ed in The Wall Street Journal dismantling the deal. In it, they noted, “Absent the linkage between nuclear and political restraint, America’s traditional allies will conclude that the U.S. has traded temporary nuclear cooperation for acquiescence to Iranian hegemony.”

The pair also point out that the two sides have divergent interests elsewhere, even when ostensibly working together as they are against the Islamic State. “Even while combating common enemies, such as ISIS, Iran has declined to embrace common objectives,” write Kissinger and Shultz. Iran’s goal in Iraq, for example, is one of spreading its influence all the way to the Mediterranean Sea, putting Israel in peril. On the other hand, one of the strategic interests to our presence in Iraq and Afghanistan was to place American allies to either side of Iran, which we’ve known to be a bad actor ever since the Shah was deposed in 1979.

That same grand game is being played in Yemen, which had often been touted as a success by the Obama administration until it no longer was successful or even a viable state. Iranian-backed Houthi rebels are now the target of a Saudi-led coalition for whom we’re playing a minor support role.

Given the ramshackle framework for the current nuclear “deal,” it seems Iran is using its typical delaying tactics to edge closer to arming itself with nuclear weapons. The mullahs realize the sanctions won’t return once lifted, giving them a final victory in their quest to go from a rogue nation the world determined would never be nuclear to joining the North Korea club.

As for the rest of the region, Kissinger and Shultz warn the future’s not bright. “Some of the chief actors in the Middle East are likely to view the U.S. as willing to concede a nuclear military capability to the country they consider their principal threat. Several will insist on at least an equivalent capability. Saudi Arabia has signaled that it will enter the lists; others are likely to follow. In that sense, the implications of the negotiation are irreversible.”

Age-old differences in religious belief are one thing when fought with conventional armaments, but add nuclear weapons to the mix and the unthinkable becomes much more probable.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Author Eric Hoffer (1902-1983): “Absolute power corrupts even when exercised for humane purposes. The benevolent despot who sees himself as a shepherd of the people still demands from others the submissiveness of sheep. The taint inherent in absolute power is not its inhumanity but its anti-humanity.”

Columnist Jonah Goldberg: “There are capital offenses for crimes other than murder because the integrity and effectiveness of the armed forces is a priority. We are not a martial society, but I could make a similar argument about police officers who murder and lie about it. Faith in the fairness of the justice system is simply indispensable to a democracy and social peace. Lack of such faith may be why [Walter] Scott ran from Officer [Michael] Slager. If so, his mistrust was tragically well-placed. … People claim, usually tautologically, that retribution is illegitimate because revenge is illegitimate. Maybe that’s true. But it seems to me that what some people call revenge many others see plainly as justice. Deterrence is often a distraction. Capital punishment clearly doesn’t deter every murderer, but does it deter any would-be murder? It seems obvious it must. Deterrence is a red herring because the function of the death penalty isn’t simply to scare a would-be murderer with the corpse of a convicted one; it is also to inform an entire society about what we take seriously.”

Columnist Charles Krauthammer: “With sanctions lifted, its economy booming and tens of billions injected into its treasury, why would Iran curb rather than expand its relentless drive for regional dominance? An overriding objective of these negotiations, as Obama has said, is to prevent the inevitable proliferation — Egypt, Turkey, the Gulf states — that would occur if Iran went nuclear. Yet the prospective agreement is so clearly a pathway to an Iranian bomb that the Saudis are signaling that the deal itself would impel them to go nuclear. You set out to prevent proliferation and you trigger it. You set out to prevent an Iranian nuclear capability and you legitimize it. You set out to constrain the world’s greatest exporter of terror threatening every one of our allies in the Middle East and you’re on the verge of making it the region’s economic and military hegemon. What is the alternative, asks the president? He’s repeatedly answered the question himself: No deal is better than a bad deal.”

STEYER TO TRY AGAIN IN 2016
The Hill: “Billionaire liberal activist Tom Steyer hopes to shame GOP presidential candidates over their climate change skepticism in the 2016 campaign. He is also seeking to tie Republicans to his arch foes: Charles and David Koch, the billionaire brothers who spent more than $100 million in the 2014 midterms behind GOP candidates opposed to environmental regulations…The initial effort, launched Monday with a video, is being dubbed the ‘Hot Seat.’ It’s the first NextGen campaign to feature its dual priorities of highlighting GOP candidates’ climate skepticism and their links to the Kochs.”  -Fox News

AND NOW, A WORD FROM CHARLES…
“The situation has changed. The fruits of [President nObama’s] isolationism are now being shown experienced. The beheading of Americans, the collapse of Yemen, giving away everything on the deal with Iran. The country is seeing that that kind of retreat yields really terrible results and I think the problem that [Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.] has is that his association with this non-interventionism is now a problem and he has to tack back, which again undermines his other strength which is his authenticity.” –Charles Krauthammer on “Special Report with Bret Baier” Watch here -Fox News

Iran Is Too Radical to Recognize Israel, Says ... nObama?
"The notion that we could condition Iran not getting nuclear weapons ... on Iran recognizing Israel is really akin to saying that we won't sign a deal unless the nature of the Iranian regime completely transforms," Barack nObama explained in an interview with NPR. "And that is, I think, a fundamental misjudgment. ... We want Iran not to have nuclear weapons precisely because we can't bank on the nature of the regime changing." Believe it or not, nObama is right in a sense. The Iranians are entirely too radical to recognize Israel and, in fact, regularly promise to annihilate the Jewish state. But isn't "fundamental transformation" nObama's specialty?

nObama Admits Iran Won't Be Far From Nukes
Barack nObama may like to insist that his deal ensures Iran will never obtain nuclear weapons, but even he admitted the opposite in an interview with NPR. "Most of [Iran's] enriched uranium is supposed to be set off to the side and diluted; it may, however, remain inside Iran," nObama said. "Eventually, the deal expires. Perhaps the uranium is still there, which is why ... where the regime changes is a significant question." He then said, "[T]hey're not going to have been able to horde a bunch of uranium that somehow they then convert to weapons-grade uranium. What is a more relevant fear would be that in year 13, 14, 15, they have advanced centrifuges that enrich uranium fairly rapidly, and at that point the breakout times would have shrunk almost down to zero." Not to worry, though. He said, "[C]urrently, the breakout times are only about two to three months by our intelligence estimates. So essentially, we're purchasing for 13, 14, 15 years assurances that the breakout is at least a year ... that -- that if they decided to break the deal, kick out all the inspectors, break the seals and go for a bomb, we'd have over a year to respond. And we have those assurances for at least well over a decade." Everything is awesome. But he just put his seal of approval on a future Iranian nuke.  -The Patriot Post

Schumer Agrees Congress Must Approve Iran Deal
We didn't have high hopes for soon-to-be Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, but he's proven himself sane on at least one count: joining several other Democrats in pushing for Congress to vote on Barack nObama's deal with Iran. "This is a very serious issue that deserves careful consideration," Schumer said, "and I expect to have a classified briefing in the near future. I strongly believe Congress should have the right to disapprove any agreement and I support the Corker bill which would allow that to occur." He's referring to Sen. Bob Corker's Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, which requires a two-month review period for Congress and a final vote before sanctions on Iran can be lifted.
"[B]efore [the nObama administration] starts unraveling the [sanctions on Iran] that Congress put in place, we want to make sure that they show us the deal," Corker said in a statement prior to Congress' recess. Schumer's support will help. Then again, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest assured, "The sales pitch has only just begun." And Nancy Pulosi may just save nObama in the House.  -The Patriot Post

1200 Arrested In Coordinated Raids On Suspected Crime Syndicates
(nicedeb.wordpress.com) - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) teams have arrested more than 1,200 people, in an operation targeting international crime syndicates...This would seem to be a healthy, normal, positive use of government force – targeting criminal gangs and protecting American citizens. Weird, huh? I’m scratching my head, here. In nObama’s post-rational America where good is evil and evil good – where common sense and decency have been completely upended – where the interests of hard-working, law-abiding Americans always come last – this show of government force that actually protects Americans – seems oddly out of character. Are we sure they weren’t targeting tea partiers and pro life groups?   https://nicedeb.wordpress.com/2015/04/08/1200-arrested-in-coordinated-raids-on-suspected-crime-syndicates-in-282-cities/

United Auto Workers President Breaks With nObama
(rickwells.us) - The President of the United Auto Workers Union, Dennis Williams took a stark departure from his organization’s customary lockstep support of the Democrat and nObama agendas in an opinion piece published in the Detroit News on Wednesday...nObama has initiated his campaign for fast-track authority for his monopolistic secret trade agreements, which restrict Congress to either an up or down vote on the destructive measures written by the very corporations who benefit from its adoption. The agreements take on both trans-Atlantic and trans Pacific forms, with global trade implications. The effects would be far-reaching and the methodology chosen for ramming the packages through is becoming quite familiar. We’ve seen these tactics employed in forcing passage of  nobamacare and the December CRominbus spending bill. They are also currently being employed in the Iran nuclear deal. It’s the infamously irresponsible and foolish “you have to pass the bill to find out what’s in the bill” approach, which is intended to hide the true content from the public and its representatives in Congress.       http://www.rickwells.us/united-auto-workers-president-breaks-with-obama-fast-track-trade-authorization-is-hov-lane-to-disaster/

Yes They Can Steal Our Elections – Dems Made That A Virtual Certainty
(rickwells.us) - When Nancy Pulosi tried to put the best face on last years November election, she proclaimed that 2016 would be a rebound year for the Democrats...She may have known that their efforts would be bolstered by a significant number of invalid votes being cast for her corrupt comrades in the Democrat Party. It is the kind of thing that just six short years ago would have been dismissed as being “unbelievable.” Now, with 3/4th of the nObama nightmare under our belt, there are few things other than his promises which are beyond belief. J. Christian Adams is a former U.S. Department of Justice official in the Civil Rights Division. He will present a brief to the Supreme Court later this month which exposes that non-citizens are being registered to vote on a wholesale basis as a result of the Motor Voter law which came into existence under Bill Clinton. We all know how important convenience is to the Clintons and how it is often given a higher priority than responsibility, particularly when that convenience involves government documents or their abuse.       http://www.rickwells.us/si-se-puede-yes-they-can-steal-our-elections-democrats-have-made-that-a-virtual-certainty-for-2016/

Mark Steyn: Mr. Pres #BlackLivesMatter When They’re Christian, too
(nicedeb.wordpress.com) - Conservative columnist Mark Steyn was on fire Wednesday night on Hannity,  discussing the president’s increasingly obvious hostility toward Christians...Like most sentient people, Steyn doesn’t think nObama is actually a Christian, and he passionately made the case for Americans to start speaking up and pushing back against the anti-Christian bias that has been a coming from the top in this country. “If I were at that prayer breakfast, I would have shouted out SHAME!” Steyn declared, referring to the Easter Prayer Breakfast where nObama once again, took the opportunity to insult Christians. “I think it’s a pretty poor reflection even on the presumably loyal, liberal Democrats in that audience, that no one objected to it. Because it IS time for people to object to it. This is part of a conscious strategy.”       https://nicedeb.wordpress.com/2015/04/08/mark-steyn-mr-president-blacklivesmatter-when-theyre-christian-too-video/

Forty ISIS Returned Back To America And Counting
(rickwells.us) - Homeland “Security” Secretary Jeh Johnson admits that his agency and others within the nObama administration who are charged with keeping the American public safe have allowed forty ISIS veterans who are American citizens to return to the United States and that most of them are still walking among us...The number of American terrorists who have gone to fight in Iraq and Syria as part of ISIS is put at 180, so we can expect that all of them will ultimately be allowed by the nObama regime to return to continue their jihad among the people of America. The current count of forty is just the beginning of the potential shadow army they are allowing to be unleashed upon the innocent American people. Johnson struggles with his answer when Leslie Stahl says, “I assume you you’re keeping close tabs on those forty.” He replies, “We have, in fact kept close tabs on those who we believe have left and those who have come back. A number have been arrested or investigated and we have systems in place to track these individuals.” We have systems in place to prevent immigration violations and voter fraud too. Just having a set of policies and procedures doesn’t mean much in itself.       http://www.rickwells.us/forty-isis-returned-back-to-america-and-counting-jeh-johnson-has-a-plan-and-a-system-its-called-gambling/

Valerie Jarrett – nObama Wants Your Kids To Be Homosexuals
(rickwells.us) - The Marxists in the White House are taking the next step in state control of our children, deciding that we should not instruct our children that they should behave and grow up in a natural, non-deviant manner...Valerie Jarrett posted a statement Wednesday on the White House website calling for a law or laws which would prevent parents from being able to have their children counselled not to be a homosexual. Aside from the aspect of parents preferring to have normal, healthy children with a normal lifestyle, who do these White House Stalin wannabes think they are? Dictating is so unbecoming a “president,’ even one who is an illegitimate, illegal alien or a closet homosexual. As for Ms Jarrett, everything about her is unbecoming. Jarrett posted, “As part of our dedication to protecting America’s youth, this Administration supports efforts to ban the use of conversion therapy for minors.” She continued to explain and rationalize. “Conversion therapy generally refers to any practices by mental health providers that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity. Often, this practice is used on minors, who lack the legal authority to make their own medical and mental health decisions. We share your concern about its potentially devastating effects on the lives of transgender as well as gay, lesbian, bisexual, and queer youth.”       http://www.rickwells.us/valerie-jarrett-obama-wants-your-kids-to-be-homosexuals-and-they-belong-to-the-government/

(Bill Gertz) - The international framework nuclear agreement reached in Switzerland last week makes no specific mention of Iran’s Parchin military facility—a key location of suspected nuclear weapons work...The omission of Parchin in the formal statements released by negotiators after the deal was reached is raising questions about whether Iran will agree to disclose all details of its work on building nuclear arms. “Parchin has been the center of Iran’s weaponization efforts for decades,” said John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.       http://freebeacon.com/national-security/iran-framework-silent-on-key-nuclear-site/

Using the Global Warming Hoax
to Destroy America
Alan Caruba
Cartoon%2B-%2BIPCC%2BLies.jpg

(factsnotfantasy.blogspot.com) - When President nObama announced on March 31 that he intends to ensure that the U.S. will slash its “greenhouse gas emissions” 26% below 2005 emissions levels by 2025 in order to keep pledges made to fulfill the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, he failed to mention that such levels would be comparable to what they were in our Civil War era, 150 years ago.

He also failed to mention that the U.S. has made no such pledges as regards the 1992 “Kyoto Treaty” which was resoundingly rejected by the U.S. Senate when then Vice President Al Gore brought it back from the U.N. conference.

There is no need, globally or nationally, to reduce such emissions. It would be a crime against humanity, especially for the millions that would be denied electrical power or would see its cost rise exponentially. “The President has no credible evidence to back up his claims,” said H. Sterling Burnett, a Research Fellow with the free market think tank, The Heartland Institute. “nObama’s climate actions are likely to cause far more harm to people, especially the poor, than any purported threats from global warming.”

“Global warming” and “climate change” are attributed to the use of fossil fuels to manufacture and transport ourselves and our goods, and to create electrical energy, despite the fact that the Earth, its oceans and land areas naturally generate such gases.

Volcano%2Bwith%2BSmoke.jpg

There are, for example, more than 1500 potentially active volcanoes and countless others under the oceans. They produce billions of tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other gases that are identified as “greenhouse gas emissions.” The human contribution pales in comparison to natural sources such as the warming ocean surface which releases CO2.

Even so, CO2 constitutes a mere 0.04% of the atmosphere. There is no evidence CO2 plays any role in the Earth’s global temperature.

Do these “greenhouse gas emissions” trap heat? Apparently not because the Earth has been in a natural cooling cycle for the past eighteen years breaking and making records for snow and ice. In the 1970s scientists were predicting a new Ice Age. Ten years later they were predicting “global warming.”

Why then is the President intent on slashing “greenhouse gas emissions” when (1) the Earth is not a greenhouse and (2) doing so would harm our economy for decades to come?

The answer lies in his promise to “fundamentally transform” a nation that does not need transformation except for the reduction of the size and scope of the federal government. Its economic system is the best in the world. Its military is the strongest. Its agriculture feeds Americans and is exported to other nations.

As David Rothbard, the president and co-founder of the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT), a free market think tank, noted in the wake of nObama’s announcement, “The President will have to bypass the law-making process and use executive orders and regulations” to achieve his goal of slashing emissions. “To do so requires tortured readings of the Clean Air Act and other current laws.”
Significantly, “the President offers no suitable replacement for the lost generating capacity beyond pointing toward wind and solar which is not up to the task.” When nObama took office, coal-fired plants provided 50% of U.S. electricity. It is now down to 40% and headed lower if nObama has his way.

Rothbard warns that “Global warming campaigners see this presidency and the Paris U.N. Summit as the best chance they are likely to see to take control of American energy. The ramifications are disastrous for American freedom and prosperity.”

This brings us to the what John L. Casey, founder of the Space and Science Research Corporation, (SSRC), an independent scientific research organization in Orlando, says about the forthcoming November 30 to December 15 U.N. climate conference in Paris which he describes as “doomed” and that’s the good news.

Its announced goal of imposing global limits on greenhouse gas emissions will not be mandatory and “President nObama has effectively gutted any meaningful agreement among the major industrialized nations, by having granted to the planet’s largest CO2 producer, China, free license to build as many coal power plants as they wish, and emit as many gigatons of greenhouse gases as they wish until 2030.”

This is, in fact, a global trend as many developing nations such as India do the same thing. Nor will they suddenly shut down electricity production fifteen years from now.

This huge, international farce formerly known as the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, began as an international treaty created in 1992. The U.S. Senate refused to ratify the Kyoto Treaty, but pledges to reduce greenhouse gases were made by 33 out of 195 countries, called their “Intended National Determined Contribution” are the main feature at the forthcoming Paris conference.

For all the media attention the President will try to generate for this idiocy, Ken Haapala, president of the Science and Environmental Policy Project, says “It is unlikely that the current Senate would approve a binding agreement.”  Haapala notes that lawmakers that include the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McCon-nell (R-KY), Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK)m and Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), “have all insisted that the international agreement the U.N. is working on is a treaty and cannot be enforced without Senate approval.”
Sen. McCon-nell warned, “Considering that two-thirds of the U.S. Federal government hasn’t even signed off on the Clean Power Plan and 13 states have already pledged to fight it, our international partners should proceed with caution before entering into a binding, unattainable deal.”

While most Americans have concluded that “global warming” or “climate change” are low on their list of fears President nObama has elevated this hoax to the top of his agenda for his last two years in office, along with the deal that would give Iran the opportunity to build a nuclear arsenal of weapons.

He doesn’t want to “transform” America. He wants to destroy it.

U of Michigan cancels “American Sniper” screening: “Made students feel unsafe”
By Robert Spencer on Apr 08, 2015 11:20 pm

A movie about an American soldier who fought against Islamic jihadists made students at the University of Michigan feel unsafe, and so the screening was canceled. Imagine if the people that Chris Kyle fought against showed up at the University of Michigan — would students feel unsafe then? Would they approach the jihadis and give […]

Salon scrapes the bottom of the barrel to find “Christian terrorists”
By Robert Spencer on Apr 08, 2015 11:04 pm

The mainstream media, especially organs like Salon that are even more Leftist than the others, are always avid to exonerate Islam and establish the claim that Christianity is just as likely to incite its adherents to violence as Islam is. No group has a monopoly on evil, and certainly Christians have in history committed terrible […]

Egypt’s most prominent Islamic authority issues a fatwa against AFDI’s bus ads

As Pamela Geller notes, think about all the things that Egypt’s most prominent Islamic authority is not issuing fatwas against: Islamic anti-semitism, the jihad imperative to wage war against and subjugate unbelievers under the hegemony of Islamic law, the institutionalized oppression of women in Islamic law, including even their Qur’an-sanctioned beating (4:34), the sexual slavery […]

Afghan soldier shoots, wounds 3 US troops in insider attack
By Robert Spencer on Apr 08, 2015 08:20 am

These “green-on-blue” murders keep happening because there is no reliable way to distinguish an Afghan Muslim who supports American troops from one who wants to murder them, and political correctness prevents authorities from making any attempt to do so anyway because it would suggest that Islam is not a religion of peace. So ever more […]

Unappetizing appetizer -   The anti-Paul spot is just the start of what promises to be the single-nastiest Republican nominating process in memory. Paul will doubtless be responding to the swipe with his own large and well-funded campaign network. Similar attacks, funded by the ever growing universe of independent groups and super PACs, will be good news only for Clinton (and the consultants and media buyers who are producing them). While 2012 saw plenty of toxic dumping, the size of the field, the depth of the resources and the proliferation of outside groups means that long before the candidates hit the debate stage in August, they – or their supporters – will have been besmirching each other for months.  -Fox News

EX-INTEL BOSS SAYS ‘VERY HIGH’ LIKELIHOOD HILLY’S
 SERVER HACKED
The former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency says Democratic frontrunner Hilly Clinton’s use of a private e-mail server put national security at risk. Appearing on “The Kelly File” Monday Michael Flynn told host Megyn Kelly said the likelihood was “very high” that Clinton’s server may have been hacked by “China, Russia, Iran, potentially the North Koreans and other countries who may be quote/unquote our allies.”  Watch the full interview here  -Fox News

Hilly’s $2 billion plan to ‘connect with real people’ -   Fox News: “After what aides expect to be an initial announcement on social media, [Hilly Clinton] reportedly will do some relatively small campaign events in key early states like Iowa and New Hampshire. Clinton’s approach in 2016 will illustrate that as a presidential candidate ‘she fights for every vote and takes nothing for granted,’ a Democratic official said.  … The 2016 plan is to have Clinton try to ‘connect with real people’ better than she did eight years ago, according to a Democratic official with knowledge of the announcement plans and strategy.”  -Fox News

SCHUMER FIGHTS nOBAMA ON IRAN PLAN
The Hill: “New York Sen. Charles Schumer, the next in line to become Senate Democratic leader, is demanding that Congress review and approve any nuclear deal struck with Iran.  Schumer, who will replace Senate Democratic Leader dinky Harry Reid (Nev.) at the end of next year, says President nObama must submit the deal to Congress despite the administration’s reluctance to do so. ‘This is a very serious issue that deserves careful consideration and I expect to have a classified briefing in the near future. I strongly believe Congress should have the right to disapprove any agreement and I support the [Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn.,] bill which would allow that to occur,’ he said in a statement.”  -Fox News

nObama says deal only delays Iran nuke -   Fox News: “President nObama admitted Tuesday…that his nuclear agreement with Iran only delays Tehran from eventually acquiring a weapon, which could come immediately after Year 13 of the agreement…in an interview with NPR News…”
But… -  nObama’s timeframe seemed to contradict a press briefing from Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, tapped by the president to sell the deal. Moniz called the tentative nuclear deal with Tehran a “forever agreement” that would block all pathways to a nuclear weapon and set up tough international inspections with no end date.
nObama: It’s a good deal, no matter what - “I would argue that this deal is the right thing to do for the United States, for our allies in the region and for world peace regardless of the nature of the Iranian regime….[T]his is a good deal if you think Iran’s open to change.  It’s also a good deal if you think that Iran is implacably opposed to the United States and the West and our values.” – President nObama in an interview with NPR.  -Fox News

Before and after the Israeli Air Force attacked the Syrian nuclear reactor at Deir al-Zour in September 2007.

Today's Iran Debate Misses the Point
(Daniel Pipes) - While hugely important in terms of Iranian relations with the outside world, U.S.-Israel relations, and Barack Obama's relations with Congress, the labored, contradictory, and unspecific Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action has little bearing on whether the mullahs do or do not get nuclear weapons. Let me explain...If one assumes, as one should, that the Iranian leadership is determined to build a nuclear arsenal and the means to deliver it, then the economic issues (sanctions, boycotts, embargoes) that drive the P5+1 negotiations are tangential. They affect the speed, cost, and difficulty of building an arsenal, but do not impede its ultimate realization. The only way to stop Iran's program is by using force, presumably by attacking its nuclear infrastructure from the air. Yet this prospect, now marginalized as the "war option" in contrast with two years ago, is no longer discussed.       http://www.danielpipes.org/blog/2015/04/today-iran-debate-misses-the-point

 ‘It’s the regime, stupid’
(Gary J. Schmitt) - On Monday, in an interview with National Public Radio, President nObama tossed aside Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s call for the Iranian government to recognize Israel’s right to exist as a condition to a final nuclear agreement...However, the fundamental misjudgment is President nObama’s. It is precisely because the Iranian regime is what it is—religiously radical and hegemonic in its ambitions—that no agreement is likely to prevent Iran from continuing its pursuit of nuclear weapons. And, as the Israeli Prime Minister correctly suggests, recognizing Israel would take place only if the character of that regime had in fact changed. Indeed, as the history of states giving up their nuclear weapons programs shows, they typically do so only after coming under the assurance of the American nuclear umbrella, after a regime change, or, in the case of Gaddafi’s Libya in 2004, for fear of a regime change in the wake of the American invasion of Iraq. None of these conditions of course applies to Iran now.       http://www.aei.org/publication/its-the-regime-stupid/?utm_source=paramount&utm_medium=email&utm_content=AEITODAY&utm_campaign=040815

Where's the Outrage Over Palestinians Dying in Syria?
(Aviel Schneider) - The jihadists hordes of the Islamic State (ISIS) have captured most of the Yarmouk refugee camp on the outskirts of Damascus, driving out thousands of Palestinian residents and brutally slaughtering many...According to both Israeli and Palestinian media, fewer than 16,000 Palestinians now remain in the once bustling suburb. Those who remain have pleaded in vain for help from an international community that seems so engaged with the Palestinians, at least when Israel can be painted as the aggressor. “Today I ventured out into the bombed-out streets searching for food for my children,” a 30-year-old Palestinian named Mahmoud told Israel’s Yediot Ahronot daily newspaper via telephone. “Yesterday, my neighbor was shot by snipers. Today we buried him. We are living in hell. The whole camp is surrounded and we have nothing to eat.” Mahmoud went so far as to beseech Israel for aid. “Israel is more merciful than the Arabs,” he said.       http://www.israeltoday.co.il/NewsItem/tabid/178/nid/26402/Default.aspx?utm_source=news&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=No-sidebar-news-1&utm_content=1726

Iran Giving Hamas Tens Of Millions of Dollars To Rebuild Tunnels
(Jeff Dunetz) - According to the UK Telegraph, Iran is transferring tens of millions of dollars to Hamas' "military wing" Izzadin Kassam to help it recover from last summer's Operation Protective Edge...The Telegraph says the funds will be used to "rebuild the network of tunnels in Gaza destroyed by Israel’s invasion last summer" and to replace the missiles fired at or destroyed by Israel during the operation. This raises the question: if Iran can send Hamas tens of million dollars today, what will they be able to send once the deal supported by President nObama is implemented?       http://yidwithlid.blogspot.com/2015/04/iran-giving-hamas-tens-of-millions-to.html?utm_source=The+Lid+List&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=3b79fbd66f-RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN&utm_term=0_597b72c01c-3b79fbd66f-291705165&goal=0_597b72c01c-3b79fbd66f-291705165

UK: Sharia Courts Abusing Muslim Women
(Soeren Kern) - Muslim women across Britain are being systematically oppressed, abused and discriminated against by Sharia law courts that treat women as second-class citizens, according to a new report, which warns against the spiraling proliferation of Islamic tribunals in the United Kingdom...The 40-page report, "A Parallel World: Confronting the Abuse of Many Muslim Women in Britain Today," was authored by Baroness Caroline Cox, a cross-bench member of the British House of Lords and one of the leading defenders of women's rights in the UK.  What Was Just Found in Hilly’s Emails Suggests She’s Guilty...
(teapartyupdate.com) - In all of the hoopla surrounding the revelation of Hilly Clinton’s use of private emails, many people have forgotten she was trying to hide something...So what was it she was trying to keep off the record? Why was she using a private email server to conduct official, classified business? To change the story it would seem. Of course you’re familiar with the Benghazi scandal. Up until this point in time the White House (including Clinton) have stayed true to their assertion the entire incident was the result of unrest related to the distribution of an “Anti-Islamic” video. But what was just found in her emails suggest she knew differently and created this false narrative to free her from any responsibility. This whole story serves to undermine any legitimacy Clinton has as a potential presidential candidate. You can be sure that Gowdy will continue to unearth gems like these with more frequency. Again, with this massive cover up now being exposed, conservatives can continue to be optimistic that this will tarnish Clinton’s already lackluster reputation.       http://teapartyupdate.com/breaking-what-was-just-found-in-hillarys-emails-suggests-shes-guilty-of-this/

nObama's Emphasis on Internal Threats Infuriates Gulf Allies
(investigativeproject.org) - President nObama's view that internal strife threatens the stability of America's Persian Gulf allies more than a threat from Iran are sparking angry reactions, Gulfnews reports...In an interview with the New York Times published Sunday, nObama said Gulf States do face external threats, but their internal problems may be more significant. They come from "populations that, in some cases, are alienated, youth that are underemployed, an ideology that is destructive and nihilistic, and in some cases, just a belief that there are no legitimate political outlets for grievances…I think the biggest threats that they face may not be coming from Iran invading. It is going to be from dissatisfaction inside their own countries." These remarks are not being well received by Gulf citizens. "The problem with the US is that it wants to decide for us who our friend is and who our foe is … It also wants to decide when we should destroy one another and who should reconstruct what has been destroyed. We are treated like political adolescents," posted a blogger online. nObama should keep his mouth shut.   http://www.investigativeproject.org/4819/obama-emphasis-on-internal-threats-infuriates

Italy Pledges Military Action Against The Islamic Persecution...
(Theodore Shoebat) - Military action is inevitable in the fight against terrorism and more should be done to tackle religious persecution, Italy’s foreign minister said...In an unusually strongly worded interview with Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera on Tuesday, Paolo Gentiloni said Europe has long ignored dangers faced by people in other parts of the world and must do more. “Responding to terrorism inevitably implies military consequences. nObama’s Justice Department
Charges Menendez … But Not Reid
Andrew McCarthy

(aim.org) - The nObama Justice Department has filed its much anticipated corruption indictment against Senator Robert Menendez. He is the New Jersey Democrat who, from his powerful senior seat on the Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, has vehemently opposed President nObama’s negotiations with the jihadist regime in Iran, as well as his outreach to Castro’s Cuba.

Two things about the nObama administration cannot be denied. First, the president is desperate to cut a deal with the mullahs on their nuclear program, so much so that he has erased virtually every red line he ever purported to draw and has not been shy about strong-arming naysayers, including our allies in Israel and France.

Second, the nObama’s Justice Department, which features the first attorney general in American history to be held in contempt of Congress (for obstructing the House’s investigation of the outrageous Fast & Furious scandal), is the most politicized in American history – practicing discriminatory law-enforcement that stays its hand against friends (see, e.g., its treatment of New Black Panther Party voter intimidation, Solyndra fraud, and the nObama 2008 campaign’s large-scale campaign finance violations) while punishing critics, scapegoats, and others who dare to cross the president (see, e.g., treatment of Dinesh D’Souza’s de minimis campaign finance violation; of Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, producer of the anti-Muslim video the administration fraudulently blamed for the Benghazi massacre; and of Standard & Poor’s, squeezed for a $1.37 billion settlement in a retaliatory suit Justice filed after S&P downgraded the U.S. credit-rating).

Consequently, as discussed here at Ordered Liberty last month when Menendez called an extraordinary press conference to defend himself, it was reasonable to suspect that the impending indictment might be payback for defying the president on Iran – indeed, mocking the White House over talking points that, the senator said, read as if they’d been written in Tehran.

As I hastened to point out in that post, this was not an “either-or” scenario. That is, it is entirely possible both (a) that the administration is harassing Menendez and making an example of the wages of defiance, and (b) that Menendez is in fact guilty of crimes. Discriminatory law enforcement is rarely a matter of trumping up cases. It is more a matter of exploiting the gray areas of prosecutorial discretion. Dinesh D’Souza, for example, was undeniably guilty of campaign finance violations. Nevertheless, the Justice Department typically allows these to be settled by administrative fine … as it did in the case of the nObama 2008 campaign’s offenses. D’Souza, to the contrary, was singled out for a multiple felony prosecution, with the Justice Department aggressively pushing for a significant prison sentence (denied by the judge), even though D’Souza’s $15,000 violation was a pittance compared to the nObama campaign’s concealment of nearly $2 million in donations.

So now that Menendez and his heavyweight donor, Florida opthalmologist Salomon Melgen, have been indicted on 22 corruption counts (comprised of conspiracy, bribery, fraud and false statements charges), it is worth asking: Is Menendez being unfairly singled out for prosecution on conduct in the nature of “everybody does it”? In considering this question, it is worth focusing on that paragon of Beltway rectitude, dinky Harry Reid, who makes an intriguing cameo appearance in the Menendez indictment.

Boiled down to its essence, the 68-page indictment charges Menendez with agreeing to accept “things of value” (expensive gifts, vacations, private plane trips, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions) from Dr. Melgen in return for being influenced to use his powerful office for Melgen’s benefit. The charging instrument describes an unusually lavish donor-pol arrangement. Still, the choreography of pay-to-play contributor and pampered elected official – with the chorus line of connected lobbyists and eager-to-please staffers in between – is hardly atypical of Washington … which is why so many Americans hold their government in such contempt.

It will not be easy for Menendez to convince a jury that the whole indictment is a criminalization of ordinary (if grimy) politics. As I noted in the aforementioned post, there is a meretricious air to some of the allegations about free trips with multiple “guests” to Melgen’s luxury resort. Of less prurient interest but probably more legal significance to the corruption charges, Menendez is also accused of lying about the gifts he was receiving on the annual financial disclosure form senators are required to complete. Specifically, it is said that in every year from 2007 through 2011 he failed to disclose thousands of dollars worth of gifts from Melgen. Here, we must note in the Justice Department’s favor that it could have charged Menendez with a separate felony (with a potential of five years’ imprisonment) for every year, but contented itself with a single five-year felony count. (See Indictment, Count 22, pp. 65-66.)

Primarily, though, the case against Menendez centers on three instances of something very familiar: an elected representative intervening with government agencies on behalf of a donor. To wit, the senator is accused of: (1) browbeating executive agencies to back Melgen in a conflict with the Dominican Republic over a contract to provide screening of containers coming through Dominican ports; (2) supporting visa applications for Melgen’s girlfriends; and (3) pressuring the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to resolve favorably to Melgen an $8.9 million Medicare billing dispute.

Bear in mind that there is nothing illegal per se about an elected representative’s petitioning government agencies on behalf of a constituent or supporter. Nor is there anything illegal per se about an elected representative’s acting in a manner that favors a donor. In fact, support for the representative’s agenda is usually the reason a donor contributes.

Illegality arises only if there is a quid pro quo – an understanding that the donor extends benefits and the representative accepts them to influence the latter to do the former’s bidding. This meeting of the minds can be very difficult to prove. Menendez thus argues, as one might expect, that he has a longstanding family friendship with Melgen; that it is this relationship, not Menendez’s political muscle, that explains Melgen’s largesse. The senator would have us believe that he did not do for Melgen anything he does not routinely do for the voters who sent him to Washington to look out for their interests. Note that this is why Menendez’s lies on financial disclosure forms, if proved, will be critical to the case: If there was nothing untoward about the gifts, there was no reason to conceal them. Proof of consciousness of guilt can be the difference in a case that comes down to the defendant’s state of mind.

With all that said, let’s focus on the third of the interventions described above – the Medicare billing allegation. As outlined in the indictment (pp. 35-52), Melgen dramatically overcharged Medicare for injections of Lucentis. Under Food and Drug Administration guidelines, each vial of Lucentis is “single-use” – one dose for one eye of one patient – even though it contains “overfill” in case of spillage. Melgen, however, divided the contents of each vial into multiple doses, then billed Medicare as if each dose administered were a full vial. When Medicare caught on to the scheme and analyzed Melgen’s records for 2007 through 2008, it found overbillings to the tune of $8.9 million. For three years, Menendez made herculean efforts to weigh in with HHS on Melgen’s behalf, parroting various rationales offered by the doctor and his lobbyists in defense of his billing practices. The efforts proved fruitless at each administrative level and in each appeal process.

According to the indictment, a frustrated Menendez turned for help to his friend and fellow Democrat, then-Senate Majority Leader dinky Harry Reid of Nevada, in March of 2012. Using aides as intermediaries, Menendez kept dinkyReid apprised of his futile pleas to and dissatisfaction with lower rungs of the HHS bureaucracy. Then, in July 2012, dinky Reid personally interceded to arrange a meeting for Menendez with HHS’s then-Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. The indictment (at p. 49) explains that the meeting took place on August 2, 2012, and that Sebelius rebuffed Menendez.

Call me cynical, but it seems that while justice is blind, the Justice Department is anything but – it’s quite discriminating. For example, the indictment against nObama’s bête noir, Menendez, for corruptly pressuring HHS somehow manages to omit the teeny weeny detail that dinky Reid, a key nObama ally, not only arranged the meeting with Sebelius but attended it – or, some might say, used his influence to pressure HHS.

Oh, but you’re thinking, there’s a difference: according to the indictment so carefully crafted by nObama’s Justice Department, dinky Reid, unlike Menendez, was not bought and paid for by Melgen.

Really?

The indictment (beginning at p. 16) makes much of the fact that contemporaneous with the scheme to pressure HHS, Melgen made two contributions, totaling $600,000, for the benefit of Menendez’s reelection campaign. The donations were made to an entity called “Majority PAC.” But guess what the indictment doesn’t tell you? Majority PAC was controlled by none other than … dinky Harry Reid. It was run by former dinky Reid staffers and the then-majority leader, far from concealing his intimate ties to it, wore them like a badge of honor.

With that in mind, let’s have a look at Melgen’s contributions: both the ones the indictment describes and the one that it conceals – ironically, much the way the Justice Department accuses Menendez of concealing Melgen’s largesse.

The indictment makes the Jesuitic assertion that Melgen’s $600K was “earmarked” for Menendez. dinky Reid’s Majority PAC, however, was not a Menendez fund; it was, as the indictment notes in passing, “a Super PAC whose purpose was to protect and expand the Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate.” Regardless of how contributions were “earmarked,” the money could be channeled wherever dinky Reid decided it needed to go to preserve his majority. (In this instance, Majority PAC did spend $582,000 on getting Menendez reelected.)

More saliently, Melgen did not contribute $600,000 to Majority PAC in 2012. He contributed $700,000.

The Justice Department charges (at p. 17) that, in 2012, a Melgen entity gave $300,000 to Majority PAC on June 1 and then “issued a second $300,000 check” on October 1. What they don’t tell you is that, in between, the same Melgen entity forked over another $100,000 to Majority PAC. Isn’t that interesting? The Justice Department, which takes pains (at pp. 9-13 of the indictment) to itemize, for example, a $356.80 steakhouse tab, an $890.70 plane ticket, and a $875.12 limo charge picked up by Melgen for Menendez, somehow decided it was not worth mentioning the additional $100,000 Melgen gave to the dinky Reid-controlled super PAC.

And then there is the timing of this exorbitant donation: June 29, 2012. Under the sub-heading, “MENENDEZ Elevates His Advocacy on MELGEN’s Behalf to the Secretary of HHS” (p. 48), the indictment alleges that on July 10, 2012, dinky Reid’s scheduler – not Menendez’s – “contacted HHS, stating that Senator 3 [i.e., dinky Harry Reid, as he is described in the indictment] would like to have a meeting with the Secretary of HHS and Senator Menendez sometime in the next couple of weeks.” Subsequently, as noted above, the indictment describes the meeting at which Menendez browbeat Sebelius but elides mention of the fact that dinky Reid was right there with him.

To summarize: if you just read what the Justice Department has chosen to include in its indictment, you would conclude that Menendez leaned heavily on dinky Reid to get him a meeting with Sebelius (as if Menendez could not have gotten such a meeting on his own), and that dinky Reid otherwise had nothing to do with the matter. But in reality, Melgen contributed $700,000 to a dinky Reid-controlled super PAC, including $100,000, which was not “earmarked” for Menendez, just a few days before dinky Reid, not Menendez, arranged the meeting with Sebelius – a meeting at which dinky Reid accompanied Menendez knowing full well that the agenda was to plead on their deep-pocketed donor’s behalf.

If we are just considering the degree of unsavory conduct, the indictment unquestionably describes far more on Menendez’s part than on dinky Reid’s. Furthermore, no one is accusing dinky Reid of making false statements on disclosure forms, much less of the sort of salacious behavior Menendez is said to have engaged in with Melgen’s assistance. But if we consider instead the kind of unsavory conduct outlined in the corruption charges – i.e., if we try to deduce the nObama Justice Department’s legal theory about the sort of actions that constitute a felony violation of laws barring public officials from accepting “things of value” in exchange for using their political influence – it is difficult, to say the least, to distinguish what Menendez has been indicted for doing from what dinky Reid has done with apparent impunity.

The real difference, it seems, is prosecutorial discretion: Menendez, who has made himself a nuisance to nObama, has been charged by nObama’s Justice Department; dinky Reid, a stalwart nObama supporter, has not. Observe, though, that there is just enough information in the indictment to put dinky Reid on notice that the hammer could come down on him at any moment if, like Menendez or Standard & Poor’s, he were to cross the president.

To say nothing of the not so subtle message to every Washington pol who takes donations and petitions government on behalf of his donors: Whether such conduct is deemed politics-as-usual or indictable crime may just depend on the president’s indulgence.

Will Boston Bomber Get Death Penalty?

There never was a question of guilt. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s defense admitted as much on the first day of trial. Yesterday, the Boston jury handed down its decision: The 22-year-old who helped his brother plant pressure-cooker bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon in 2013 is guilty on all 30 counts. Seventeen of those charges are punishable by the death penalty. Now, the most important part of the trial begins — deciding whether Tsarnaev will get life in a federal prison or be executed. “This [bombing] reminds us, once again, that this is not ordinary crime, it’s not even [an] ordinary enemy; these are people who are irredeemable,” political analyst Charles Krauthammer said on Fox News. “Nonetheless, I personally generally oppose the death penalty with some exceptions. I would rather not make him a martyr. Let him serve all his life and contemplate his deeds for decades.” For conservatives, it boils down to one question. Should jurors consider the effect Tsarnaev’s death would have on radical Islamists looking for martyrdom, or should the punishment match the crime?

Footnote: Tsarnaev’s mother said, “America is the real terrorist and everyone knows that,” adding, “My boys are the best of the best.” That explains some things.

SC Police Officer Charged With Murder Thanks to Video

Thanks to a citizen who filmed an altercation between a South Carolina police officer and a motorist, Rule of Law is being upheld in the death of Walter Scott. On Saturday, Officer Michael Slager of the North Charleston Police Department stopped Scott because of a broken taillight. According to the initial police account, Scott grabbed the officer’s Taser, and in the ensuing struggle Slager feared for his life and shot in self-defense. Officers then administered CPR, according to the police. But a video of the event that emerged earlier this week shows a vastly different story. Unlike the altercation in Ferguson between Officer Darren Wilson and Michael Brown, Scott turned and ran from the officer with what appeared to be the wires of the Taser trailing behind. Slager drew his gun, aimed at the fleeing man, and fired eight times. It appears the officer then planted the Taser next to Scott, and when other officers arrived on the scene, CPR was never given to him. North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey said at a news conference, “When you’re wrong, you’re wrong. If you make a bad decision, don’t care if you’re behind the shield or just a citizen on the street, you have to live by that decision.” Slager was charged with murder and fired, which might not have happened without the video. Seems like a good case for body cameras. More…

With Iran Deal Crumbling, Pelosi Defends Negotiations

Well that was fast. Before Barack Obama could finish his victory lap around the Rose Garden, Iran announced a couple red lines that could derail the whole nuclear deal crazy train.Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, said inspectors would not be allowed to photograph or film the country’s nuclear sites, because it would endanger nuclear scientists. Then the country’s Defense Minister, Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan, said there were certain nuclear sites inspectors would be forbidden from entering. He said, “No such agreement has been made; principally speaking, visit to military centers is among our redlines and no such visit will be accepted.” Meanwhile, Democrats and Republicans in the Senate alike are skeptical of Team Obama’s negotiating prowess, as they are pushing a bill that says Congress must approve the Iran deal. But House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi stands in their way. She insists the “legislation undermines these international negotiations and represents an unnecessary hurdle to achieving a strong, final agreement.” Constitutionally, the Senate works with the president to make international treaties. What Congress does with the Iran deal isn’t Pelosi’s business.

U.S. Ships Arms to Yemen, Obama’s Foreign Policy Success Story

It’s plan B for the Obama administration after the government of Yemen dissolved in the face of warring groups in the nation. A few months ago, al-Qaida of the Arabian Peninsula was decimated. This week, the Obama administration’s strategy is to mitigate threats. Ashton Cartertold an audience in Tokyo, “AQAP has seized the opportunity of the disorder there and the collapse of the central government. … Obviously it’s always easier to conduct counterterrorism when there’s a stable government in place. That circumstance obviously doesn’t exist in Yemen.” Now, the United States is sidelined, sending precision-guided munitions to the Saudi Arabian-led coalition that is fighting the Houthi rebels. In a twist of fate, Saudi Arabia was targeting U.S. arms in Yemen during its bombing runs because it feared those weapons would fall in the hands of the enemy. Whoever said war was economical? More…

If Biden Thinks He Makes Too Much, He Should Donate

It’s funny how the meaning of $200,000 differs from one politician to the next. For the Clintons, $200K is a pittance, a discounted speaking gig for Hillary. But for Joe Biden, that amount is almost too much, probably because he’s echoing his boss' mantra about “middle-class economics.” During an appearance at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Biden said, “I make a lot of money now as vice president — I make a lot of money. When the president was thanking everyone for the sacrifices they made when they got us all in the Blair House — after he took office — and the financial sacrifices they made, he looked at me and said, ‘Except for Joe, he’s getting a pay raise.’” Biden needs it. According to the Washington Free Beacon, Biden doesn’t have a savings account. He never invested in stocks. His mismanagement of finances is a good reason no one should take financial advice from him. But when he leaves office and its $230,700-a-year salary, Biden will receive a pension of about $200,000 a year for life. If he thinks that’s too much, maybe he could do a bit better than the $369 annual average he gave to charity over a decade. More…

Smelting Down the Water Supply

2015-04-08-c5acc8d1_large.jpg

Call it potty policy. This week, California took aim at the porcelain throne, mandating that all toilets — along with urinals and faucets — sold in the state after Jan. 1, 2016, conserve water. It’s part of a frantic effort to do anything to manage the state’s severe drought without actually doing what’s needed to manage the state’s severe drought.

While it’s true that California is in the fourth year of below-average precipitation, and that January and March of this year have been particularly dry, neither of these things is fully to blame for the intensity of the drought’s impact. Instead, the culprit is bad government policy and a three-inch fish.

Despite population growth, California has not completed a major water infrastructure project in nearly 50 years. Indeed, Democrats, including Governor Jerry Brown, have opposed state and federal water projects since the 1970s. And while California voters have authorized $22 billion in water bonds since 2000, most of the money has gone to environmental projects and not to safeguarding and improving water supply.

Then there’s the Delta smelt. The little swimmers, whose most appreciated contribution to society arguably comes in conjunction with the word “fried,” have become so revered by ecofascists that they’re willing to imperil the entire state to save them. Delta smelt are native to the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta in northern California, and a federal rule from the 1970s limits diversion of water from this northern delta to the San Joaquin Valley and southern California — all for the sake of the smelt.

The ridiculousness becomes apparent when you consider that in the past two years more than 2.6 million acre-feet of water were let out into the San Francisco Bay because there was not enough capacity north of the delta to store the water, and the “save the smelt” policies wouldn’t allow the water to be sent to reservoirs south of the delta. So instead, the water was wasted.

Indeed, as The Wall Street Journal notes, “During normal [rainfall] years, the state should replenish reservoirs. However, environmental regulations require that about 4.4 million acre-feet of water — enough to sustain 4.4 million families and irrigate one million acres of farmland — be diverted to ecological purposes.”

And the problem is nothing new. A year ago, California, populated by thriving smelt, was in asimilar situation. At that time, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals sided with the smelt and against diverting much-needed water south. The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California took the issue to the Supreme Court, which earlier this year turned down the appeal, effectively raising a glass to smelt and a finger to California farmers and residents.

The water shortage has become so severe that the Sierra Nevada snowpack, which houses about one-third of California’s water reserve, is at a paltry 5% of its normal average. Given smelt priority and the mismanagement of billions intended for water improvement projects, Governor Brown has now instituted the first mandatory water restrictions in the state’s history, requiring cities and towns to cut usage by 25%, with possible fines of up to $10,000 per day for those localities that fail to meet the mandate.

While conserving water will help, it will hardly solve a problem decades in the making. For this, a good lesson is needed in prioritizing humans over fish. Now, please pass the tartar sauce.

Judge Rebukes Obama’s Immigration Deception

2015-04-09-4ec54f6b_large.pngJudge Andrew Hanen

The executive amnesty ordered by Barack Obama last November has been eclipsed in the headlines by his disastrous dealings with Iran. But the story isn’t over.

The amnesty would grant three-year stays of deportation, Social Security numbers and work permits to some illegal aliens, but in February U.S. District Judge Andrew Hanen declared that Obama exceeded his authority and blocked the amnesty.

After further deliberation, Hanen this week declared his injunction will remain in place in part because Obama’s lawyers misled the court. The administration revealed two weeks after Hanen’s first ruling that it had already granted more than 100,000 work permits to illegals before the court issued its injunction, and the judge wasn’t too happy. “Whether by ignorance, omission, purposeful misdirection, or because they were misled by their clients,” Hanen wrote, “the attorneys for the Government misrepresented the facts.”

Even worse,” he added [emphasis in the original], the government’s lawyers “urged this Court to rule before disclosing that the Government had already issued 108,081 three-year renewals under the 2014 DACA amendments despite their statements to the contrary.”

“Thus,” he concluded, “even under the most charitable interpretation of these circumstances, and based solely upon what counsel for the Government told the Court, the Government knew its representations had created ‘confusion,’ but kept quiet about it for two weeks while simultaneously pressing this Court to rule on the merits of its motion.”

So incensed was Hanen at this deception that he considered dismissing the case with prejudice, but opted instead for the greater good of settling the constitutional matters at hand through further court hearings. “Under different circumstances,” he wrote, “this Court might very well [consider striking the Government’s pleadings]. The Court, however, finds that the issues at stake here have national significance and deserve to be fully considered on the merits by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and, in all probability, the Supreme Court of the United States.”

Next week, the Fifth Circuit Court will hear oral arguments in the case. Clearly, Obama has flouted Rule of Law with his smoke and mirrors immigration strategy, and then misled Congress, the courts and the people to keep it in place. So it certainly bears watching whether the Fifth Circuit takes into account the administration’s deliberate deception.

In related immigration news, Obama’s policies have real world consequences. Word of Obama’s executive amnesty (notwithstanding the nuances of court battles) has surely made the rounds south of the border. “The second wave of unaccompanied illegal immigrant children has begun, with more than 3,000 of them surging across the Mexican border into the U.S. last month — the highest rate since the peak of last summer’s crisis and a warning that another rough season could be ahead,” The Washington Times reports. “Authorities report having captured 15,647 children traveling without parents who tried to jump the border in the first six months of the fiscal year.”

While those numbers are down a bit from last year’s record surge, 2015 is still on pace to be the second-biggest year on record.

Immigration officials say both violence in Central America and warmer weather are to blame for the influx, and there’s no doubt that’s at least partly true. But again, when the president of the United States issues an executive amnesty, it’s a virtual welcome mat for any who might come illegally — especially children, given Obama’s favorable treatment of them. Specifically, the administration ordered non-Mexican children to be released pending deportation proceedings. Those children rarely show up for hearings and end up staying in the U.S.

Obama himself once said, “I am not a dictator. I’m the president. … If in fact I could solve all these problems without passing laws in Congress then I would do so. … I’m not the emperor of the United States. My job is to execute laws that are passed.” We have no further witnesses, your honor.

OPINION IN BRIEF

French philosopher Baron de Montesquieu (1689-1755): “In republican governments, men are all equal; equal they are also in despotic governments: in the former, because they are everything; in the latter, because they are nothing.”

Columnist George Will: “What began as a trickle has become a stream that could become a cleansing torrent. Criticisms of the overcriminalization of American life might catalyze an appreciation of the toll the administrative state is taking on the criminal justice system, and liberty generally. … There are an estimated 4,500 federal criminal statutes — and innumerable regulations backed by criminal penalties that include incarceration. Even if none of these were arcane, which many are, their sheer number would mean that Americans would not have clear notice of what behavior is proscribed or prescribed. The presumption of knowledge of the law is refuted by the mere fact that estimates of the number of federal statutes vary by hundreds. If you are sent to prison for excavating arrowheads on federal land without a permit, your cellmate might have accidentally driven his snowmobile onto land protected by the Wilderness Act. … Given the principle — which itself should be reconsidered — of prosecutorial immunity, we have a criminal justice system with too many opportunities for generating defendants, too few inhibitions on prosecutors, and ongoing corrosion of the rule and morality of law. Congress, the ultimate cause of all this, has work to undo.”

Columnist Ann Coulter: “Without even knowing that the rape accuser, ‘Jackie,’ had refused to let Rolling Stone check the most basic elements of her narrative, every human being who read Sabrina Rubin Erdely’s piece knew it was nonsense by around the second paragraph. … Her managing editor, Will Dana, admitted that he should have ‘pull(ed) the strings a little harder … question(ed) things a little more deeply.’ Yes, maybe the editors were just not pushing hard enough. It’s as if a doctor attacked his patient with an ax, and the Columbia Medical Review responded with a forensic report concluding that the procedure failed to follow clinical protocols on hand hygiene, scrubs and restricted areas, while the doctor gallantly admitted that mistakes were made. How about not allowing reporters to go off on politically driven crusades against liberal hate-objects, like fraternities, the military and athletes? How about not basing entire stories on the uncorroborated dream sequences of fantasists?”

 Where Was Bergdahl Going?
Retired Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer, who once worked in intelligence, told Fox News' Bill O'Reilly that he heard from two senior sources that Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl was trying to contact people to take him out of Afghanistan. "He was going to go off to Uzbekistan," Shaffer said. "He had made contact with local Afghans and wanted to be moved to Uzbekistan and then made contact with the Russians because he wanted to talk to Russian organized crime." According to Shaffer, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service discovered this after it examined Bergdahl's computer. Shaffer continued, "I think we're going to see more and more as this report is made public that there were a number of disconcerting things within Bergdahl." According to the Military Times, the Army has to follow an obscure regulation. It either had to grant Bergdahl an honorable discharge and $200,000 back pay, or bring charges against him. There's wiggle room for the nObama administration to bestow benevolence on its favorite soldier. Meanwhile, six soldiers died looking for Bergdahl, and not one of their parents got a White House Rose Garden reception. More...  -The Patriot Post

Profit Margins, Public Perception and Progressive Causes
The stigma plaguing today's Republican Party on matters of economic policy is the result of a craftily orchestrated attack on capitalism. By associating the entrepreneurial free market with "corporate greed," the Left frames conservatives as being against middle class America. It's a strategy that has a long record of success. Recall that in 2009, Democrats approved another massive entitlement program -- nObamaCare -- in part by rallying behind a false narrative: that millions of Americans were uninsured because "selfish" insurers were swimming in massive profits. In truth, insurers were operating on a 2% profit margin. Democrats knew their PR stunt was a lie, but they successfully swayed public perception at a pivotal moment. Indeed, every progressive cause has traces of gross distortion, and, similar to how leftists overhauled the health care industry, they're fabricating the war on corporate America. The American Enterprise Institute's Mark J. Perry writes, "When a random sample of American adults were asked the question 'Just a rough guess, what percent profit on each dollar of sales do you think the average company makes after taxes?' for the Reason-Rupe poll in May 2013, the average response was 36%!" The reality? Memo to Occupy Wall Street: "Not surprisingly they are off by a huge margin," Perry notes. "According to [a] Yahoo! Finance database for 212 different industries, the average profit margin for the most recent quarter was 7.5% and the median profit margin was 6.5%." If this teaches us anything, it's that Republicans must dismantle the Left's big lies. The propaganda machine is not conquered by twiddling thumbs. More...  -The Patriot Post
 Al-Qaida Decimates Yemen
It's getting harder for Barack nObama to use Yemen as a model of successful U.S. foreign policy as al-Qaida and the Iran-backed Houthi rebels made significant military gains in the beleaguered state in recent days. Last week, al-Qaida militants claimed the key Yemeni port city of Mukalla, freeing nearly 300 prisoners and delivering a setback to the 10-nation coalition led by Saudi Arabia that has been engaged in an air and land campaign there. Among those freed were Khaled Batarfi, a senior leader of al-Qaida in the Arab Peninsula (AQAP). So much for al-Qaida being "on the run."
The Saudi-led coalition, which began operations in late March, has been aided by U.S. intelligence, but America is still standing on the sidelines. Even as the civilian casualties mount and U.S. diplomats and military personnel have fled the country, the White House continues to insist Yemen is a success story in its deeply flawed foreign policy strategy.
According to White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, nObama's strategy is to “try to mitigate the threat that is posed by extremists and to prevent them from establishing a safe haven.” Too late.  -The Patriot Post

UGLY EARLY: PAUL’S ENTRY SETS OFF FIRST ROUND OF   ATTACKS
There is a whole subculture in the Republican establishment devoted to hating Rand Paul, and this is the day its adherents have been waiting for. As Paul gets ready to kick off his official campaign in Louisville today, the effort to kill it intensifies. Paul has moderated his stances, recently calling for a 16 percent raise in Pentagon spending, but that has done nothing to cool the antipathy from the most hawkish members of his party who deem Paul an isolationist. When presidential hopeful Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., suggested Sunday that presumptive Democratic nominee Hilly Clinton might be preferable to Paul, he was speaking aloud what many in the GOP establishment have long said in private. It’s a sign of Paul’s clout that he would be taken so seriously despite consistently trailing the frontrunners. But if he allows his foes to define him as the peacenik Republican, Paul is done for.  -Fox News

Nuclear option -   How serious is the GOP establishment about smothering Paul’s bid? The Foundation for a Security and Prosperous America, a new outside group led by GOP insider Rick Reed is dumping $1 million on an ad campaign slamming Paul for past statements about Iran. The 30-second ad, scheduled to begin Wednesday in Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada, accuses Paul of supporting negotiations with Iran and not supporting sanctions against the Islamic regime. The Kentucky senator is heard on the ad saying, “You know, it’s ridiculous to think, they are a threat to our national security.”  A narrator concludes the ad stating, “Tell Rand Paul to stop siding with [President nObama], because even one Iranian bomb would be a disaster.”   -Fox News

Successful Russian Cyber Attack Against WH and State Depart   (theconservativetreehouse.com) - On October 25th of last year we noted something was odd. In the evening the White House was totally unaware of what happened in the news regarding the Islamist Hatchet attack in New York against two cops a few hours earlier...Our suspicions grew the next day when the NSC meeting was moved from the White House to the State Department building; something was not passing the sniff test. We suspected a communication network breach, possibly a hack. On October 28th our suspicions were confirmed when the White House admitted a security breach into the Executive Office of The President. The breach had taken place three days prior according to an official release to Reuters: “The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, would not say who might have been responsible for the activity on what was described as an unclassified computer network used by employees of the Executive Office of the President”.       http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/04/07/successful-russian-cyber-attack-against-white-house-and-state-department-details-now-surfacing/

Echoes of Clinton in nObama’s awful Iran deal
(Marc A. Compliance will be certified by the International Atomic Energy Agency.” The president who spoke those words was not Barack nObama. It was Bill Clinton, on Oct 18, 1994, announcing that his administration had reached agreement on a nuclear framework with North Korea. Twelve years later, North Korea exploded a nuclear bomb.  Sheriff Deputies Beat Pregnant Woman As They Seize Her Child
(rickwells.us) - The State of Texas prides itself on its constitutional protections of its citizens and in many cases those claims may in fact be true. When it comes to their Child Protective Services and the legitimacy of their practices...a mountain of evidence exists which indicates that they are abusive and that the most important of all human rights, that between a parental and a child are regularly being violated. Texas has earned a reputation as an authoritarian police state in their vigorous assault on the sanctity of the bond between a parent and child. The case of Deanna Robinson is evidence that the reputation is well deserved. An alleged pushing exchange between Robinson and her husband was the apparent spark which led to a visit by the Hunt County Sheriff’s department and a physical assault upon the 38-week pregnant woman by Sheriffs Deputies. Portions of the incident, including a violent beating by at least one deputy were recorded by a home surveillance system.       http://www.rickwells.us/notorious-cps-police-state-sheriff-deputies-beat-pregnant-woman-as-they-seize-her-child-into-state-custody/

nObama’s Executive Orders, Lies For Brainwashing The Useful Idiots
(rickwells.us) - nObama is increasing the pressure on the American people to accept his fairy tale of man-made climate change and to his alarmist rants...He’s so convinced in the soundness of his “science” that he’s embarked upon propaganda and intimidation campaign intended to fill in the credibility gaps which are increasingly being exposed in his fabricated hype. Since most of the people aren’t quite as ignorant as his devotees, he’s once again resorting to his favored mob intimidation tactics to force people to at least pretend to have become converts to his Earth worship. In the statement made in the video, nObama first makes a blatantly false and unsubstantiated assertion that the temperature of the planet is rising and infers that man is the culprit. Upon that foundation, he uses familiar deceptive language, saying “We know that in addition to the adverse impacts that may have when it comes to more frequent hurricanes, or more powerful storms, or increased flooding, we also know that it has an impact on public health.”       http://www.rickwells.us/global-warming-propaganda-for-dummies-obamas-new-executive-orders-lies-for-brainwashing-the-useful-idiots/

The 5th circuit ruled against the State of Mississippi, and in favor of the nObama DOJ, by essentially ruling the State failed to prove a burden of harm. However, in the second case, the ruling late last night, Texas vs DHS, under the authority of Judge Andrew Hanen, the expanded nObama Executive Action was blocked from implementation in February. Since the initial ruling the DOJ was now arguing for a lifting of that injunction, and Judge Hanen was having none of it. BOOM ! By using nObama’s own words Judge Hanen deconstructs the previous 5th DCA assertion of “no possibility for punitive harm” in the Mississippi ruling; and simultaneously puts an affirmative consideration into his own ruling – which proves the “possibility for punitive harm” in the Texas case before him which he is deciding. Brilliant Judicial Chess Move. By waiting to see the outcome of the Mississippi case (5th DCA) Judge Hanen has essentially removed one weapons which the DOJ attorneys could use against his own ruling when it enters the same appellate court.       http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/04/08/judicial-chess-texas-judge-strikes-down-doj-request-to-lift-hold-on-president-obama-executive-action-on-immigration-enforcement/

Iran will start using fastest centrifuges on day deal takes effect
(Robert Spencer) - Iran will begin using its latest generation IR-8 centrifuges as soon as its nuclear deal with the world powers goes into effect, Iran’s foreign minister and nuclear chief told members of parliament on Tuesday, according to Iran’s semi-official FARS news agency...If accurate, the report makes a mockery of the world powers’ much-hailed framework agreement with Iran, since such a move clearly breaches the US-published terms of the deal, and would dramatically accelerate Iran’s potential progress to the bomb. Iran has said that its IR-8 centrifuges enrich uranium 20 times faster than the IR-1 centrifuges it currently uses. nObama is a liar and is misleading America.       http://www.jihadwatch.org/2015/04/iran-will-start-using-fastest-centrifuges-on-day-deal-takes-effect-2?utm_source=Jihad+Watch+Daily+Digest&utm_campaign=a4cb6b4124-Daily_Digest&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_ffcbf57bbb-a4cb6b4124-123451509

Afghanistan: Rape victim forced to marry attacker
(themuslimissue.wordpress.com) - An Afghan woman who was forced to marry her rapist and have his baby has revealed how she gave up all of her hopes and dreams to ‘buy’ her daughter’s future...Known only by the name Gulnaz, the Kabul-based woman was only 16-years-old when she fell pregnant with the child of her depraved attacker Asadullah – who is also married to her cousin. Even though a rape led to her pregnancy, Gulnaz’s brothers insisted she would not be allowed to return to her ‘shamed’ family as she was unmarried and a Kabul court sentenced her to two years in prison for ‘adultery by force’, later increased to 12 years following an appeal. The only hope of a reduced sentence was to marry Asadullah, which she did in early 2013. Now she is pregnant with his third child but insists she only agreed to marry her rapist so that her first daughter – named Smile – could live a shame-free life in the Afghan capital’s ‘traditional’ society. The gifts of Sharia Law.      https://themuslimissue.wordpress.com/2015/04/08/afghanistan-rape-victim-forced-to-marry-attacker-gave-up-all-her-wishes-in-life-to-buy-daughters-future/

 Iran Deal Leaves Security Fears
(Peter Brookes) - Let’s be honest, the joint comprehensive plan of action announced last week in Lausanne, Switzerland, between the P5+1 (U.S., France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany) and Iran is essentially a Rorschach inkblot test...People will see what they want to see. Some people, like Team nObama, see the deal as a flurry of white doves released into the air, cooing “peace in our time.” Others see the preliminary pact as a dark field filled with mushroom cloud-shaped weeds. (Fred Gielow) - In the previous article, I compared the trustworthiness of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, Laura Ingraham, Alan Colmes, and Leslie Marshall according to AIM supporters. These trustworthiness ratings resulted from a recent survey conducted by Accuracy in Media...Survey takers rated news sources on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 represented 0 percent trust. 10 represented 100 percent trust. A total of 988 surveys were tabulated and analyzed. Although this was not a scientific survey, the results provide some useful insights. Of the 988 individuals responding, 868 rated Fox News. Only 696 rated MSNBC. The average rating for Fox was 8.88, while the average rating for MSNBC was 1.63, a remarkable difference.  ISIS Hackers Warn Turkey to Release All Caliphate-Bound Detainees
(Bridget Johnson) - A document claiming to be from a southeast Asian chapter of the Islamic State Hacking Division states that ISIS is ready for cyberwar with Turkey if the republic does not free jihadists caught trying to cross into the caliphate...A handbook released by ISIS earlier this year detailed a web of sympathizers utilized on the Turkish side of the 500-mile border with Syria to smuggle in recruits from around the world. This includes special safehouses for women wanting to go to the Islamic State. “Lately things have got harder at the Turkish border, so Islamic State members often meet new people in Turkey hotels and smuggle them across the border,” the guide said, stressing safehouses can only be accessed with “a paper signed by an existing member to show he is trustworthy.” It added that “the only reason members live in Turkey in some peace is because Turkey fears revenge attacks.”       http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2015/04/07/isis-hackers-warn-turkey-to-release-all-caliphate-bound-detainees-or-face-attack/

How Do Liberals Get That Way?
Burt_Header_M2.jpg
(burtprelutsky.com) - There are so many things wrong with liberals, it’s difficult to know where to begin. For instance, how is it they think so highly of themselves while at the same time thinking so little of America?

Liberals like to boast that they care about blacks, illegal aliens and the poor, here at home, and about Palestinians in the Middle East. But why? By and large, blacks despise whites. Moreover, it’s blacks who commit an overabundance of violent crime in this country, so why coddle them? For their part, illegal aliens have no business even being here. The only reason we have to concern ourselves with them is because they broke our law and took cuts in front of all the other people around the world trying to get here in accordance with the rules.

When it comes to the poor in this country, they are nearly always those who spurned education in favor of drugs, crime, welfare and having babies out of wedlock. For their part, the Palestinians, who have given nothing to the world, and have actually chosen to be governed by terrorists don’t believe in any of the things that liberals claim to cherish, such as free speech, religious tolerance and women’s rights. In addition, in their constant war with Israel -- a western style democracy that not only extends equal rights to women and gays, but to its own Arab population – the Palestinians intentionally fire missiles at Jewish civilians while using their own women and children as hostages.

I might understand it if liberals merely conned themselves into believing they are nicer and more compassionate than conservatives, if only because they’ve claimed it for so long, it would be a miracle if by this time they didn’t accept it on faith. But studies have shown that they contribute less time and money to charity than those they demean as cruel and heartless.

What I don’t get is how they’ve managed to convince themselves they’re more intelligent than the rest of us. These people are so dumb they actually fall for every hoax that comes down the pike. The first of these was global warming. But when Mother Nature refused to play along, they renamed it climate change, to explain why the weather was different today than it was yesterday and how, if left unchecked, it would inevitably lead to the end of the world.

Another hoax was the one that purported to provide proof that Bill Clinton was the most intelligent president ever, and his wife was the smartest woman in the universe. Based on the fact that Bill couldn’t even conceal a tawdry little affair with a staffer and that the missus can’t say three words without putting her foot in her mouth four times, it’s rather preposterous to insist they have IQs in the 180s. Cartoonist Steve Kelley recently summed up their disgusting combination of stupidity and arrogance by showing them seated in a restaurant, with her complaining, “I don’t get it…we’ve been here half an hour and haven’t even seen a waiter yet.” The tuxedoed manager replies: “Sorry, Mrs. Clinton. We assumed you brought your own server.”

But, then, how does a party that includes the moronic likes of Barbara Boxer, Al Franken, Patty Murray, Nancy Pulosi, Jim McDermott, Sheila Jackson Lee, Bernie Sanders, Elijah Cummings, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Alan Grayson, Luis Gutierrez and Hank Johnson, get off claiming to have a monopoly on brains?

♦ Speaking of ignorant, Barack nObama has such a limited and naïve take on Israeli politics that he apparently believed that if the Likud Party had been defeated by the Zionist Union Party, Isaac Herzog would have been any more willing than Bibi Netanyahu to make a suicidal two-state deal with those sworn to exterminate the Jews. Just because nObama is dying to cut a deal, no matter how rotten, with Iran, it doesn’t mean that other world leaders are as dangerously gullible.

nObama sees Iran joining with Iraq to fight ISIS and seems to think that makes the mullahs our allies, ignoring the fact that if a nation can be said to have a mantra, Iran’s is “Death to America.”

♦ But, then, there is presidential precedence for such foolishness. Roosevelt apparently mistook the Soviet Union’s joining with us to fight Nazi Germany as proof of Stalin’s good intentions, ignoring the fact that Hitler had broken his mutual defense pact with Stalin by invading the Soviet Union. But then, FDR also turned a deaf ear to Winston Churchill’s warning, not unlike the one Netanyahu delivered to Congress, that the enemy of your enemy is not necessarily your friend.

♦ When I recently read that blacks have 74 cases of diabetes per 1,000, as opposed to just 36 cases per 1,000 for whites, I pictured nObama, Holder and Sharpton, absorbing those statistics and agreeing it proved that that in America even the diseases are racist.

♦ Meanwhile, In Japan, Burger King’s customers can now buy hamburger-scented cologne for $40 a bottle. You might think that’s pretty pricey for a side order, but if you think about it, it’s actually a bargain if you’re looking to have every dog in Tokyo follow you home.

(Marc A. Thiessen) - In announcing his nuclear framework, the president declared : “This agreement is good for the United States, good for our allies, and good for the safety of the entire world.”...He said the deal requires them to “freeze [their] existing nuclear program and to accept international inspection of all existing facilities.” He said the agreement “does not rely on trust. And today, Pyongyang is reportedly a few years away from having as many as 100 nuclear weapons. Repeating history...       http://www.aei.org/publication/echoes-of-clinton-in-obamas-awful-iran-deal/

HIS DIGNITY WAS OFFENDED, NO DOUBT
A Tampa Bay-area man says he feels he is being discriminated against because a local movie theater will not allow him to bring in his Cookie Monster-emblazoned messenger bag while women are allowed to bring in purses. Zac Adams
told Bay News 9, “I feel discriminated against, because…the only reason that they stopped me was because I was a guy with a bag.”  Adams filmed the exchange with a theater staffer told him, “ladies carry big bags, that’s the normal thing for ladies to do.” When Adams asked the staffer if he were a lady would he be allowed in, the manager replied, “yes.”  The theater’s manager went on to say, “You could be holding onto recording devices, but ladies, it’s normal for them. Every lady carries a purse. Not every man carries a purse.” Indignant, Adams defended his “Sesame Street” accessory: “It’s not a purse, it’s a bag. I have my glasses in there, my credit card.” According to Adams, he takes the bag everywhere and that it contains, “just general accessories any guy would have.”  -Fox News

Empty Boasts About Bad Iran Deal
Barack nObama can't help but boast about his terrible deal with Iran, even if his boasts are empty. He called it a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to stop nuclear proliferation in the Middle East. Wrong -- the Saudis will see to that. Furthermore, nObama insisted, for Israel it means "we've got their backs." How so? "This is our best bet by far to make sure Iran doesn't get a nuclear weapon," nObama said. "What we will be doing even as we enter into this deal is sending a very clear message to the Iranians and to the entire region that if anybody messes with Israel, America will be there." Somehow we doubt his sincerity, even if he complains it's "personally difficult" for him to hear people don't believe he loves Israel. He also said, "I would consider it a failure on my part, a fundamental failure of my presidency, if on my watch, or as a consequence of work that I had done, Israel was rendered more vulnerable." Well, it's a failure. "There is no formula, there is no option," he added, "to prevent Iran from getting a nuclear weapon that will be more effective than the diplomatic initiative and framework that we put forward -- and that's demonstrable." Actually, the experts say the deal is not verifiable. But nothing will burst nObama's fantasy bubble.
nObama also defined the "nObama Doctrine": "The doctrine is we will engage but we preserve all our capabilities. I've been very clear that Iran will not get a nuclear weapon on my watch." What does that mean? Well, this "deal" ensures that Iran will have the capability to develop a nuclear weapon under the next administration. Even nObama later admitted as much.
As for Congress, Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) said, "If the president feels like this is something that's good for the nation, surely he can sell this to the United States Senate and the House." No wonder nObama doesn't want to even try.
Meanwhile, don't miss what Charles Krauthammer calls the fundamental problem with the deal.  -The Patriot Post

nObama Won't Say Murdered Kenyans Were Christians
Last week, Islamic militants murdered 150 Christians in Kenya, explicitly because of their faith. According to the Associated Press, "The attackers separated Christian students from Muslim ones and massacred the Christians." But Barack nObama couldn't be bothered to mention faith at all. The White House statement denounced "terrorist atrocities" against "men and women" and "students," but there was nary a peep about "Muslims" or "Christians." Likewise, nObama neglected to mention the 21 Egyptian Christians beheaded by ISIL earlier this year were anything but "citizens." It would seem the only time nObama doesn't mind mentioning Christians is when he's lecturing them about the Crusades -The Patriot Post

Rand Paul Brings Grassroots Network to Presidential Race
"I am running for president to return our country to the principles of liberty and limited government," Rand Paul announced on his website this morning. For days, Paul has dropped heavy hints to his 1.8 million fans on Facebook. And at noon today in Louisville, the Kentucky Republican will make a speech announcing his candidacy for president. For years, a devoted group of conservatives backed his father, Ron Paul, when he ran for the White House. Now the son is here, and with him is an already established grassroots network -- Paul supporters were in the crowd as Sen. Ted Cruz announced his own presidential candidacy. Already, Paul has begun to reach out to constituencies not normally attracted to the Republican Party -- namely, college students and blacks -- making him a good person to grow the Republican base and setting him apart from other candidates. A Wall Street Journal/NBC poll asking about primary voters' opinions on GOP candidates placed Paul in the top five potential candidates. It's still a wide-open field, and the primaries are a year away. More...  -The Patriot Post

Nazi Jerry Brown Cannot Come Inside Your House With A Stopwatch
(rickwells.us) - Judge Napolitano addresses the actions taken by the California Governor in response to the current drought situation by making a couple of observations...He first notes that anytime the government rations anything, there is immediately less of it, with distribution being based upon a political rather than an economic model. Secondly, he asks, “Who does this thug, who calls himself the Governor of California think he is? He can’t make up rules and impose punishments on his own. Only the legislature can do that. Napolitano says it could be done legally by the legislature provided there is a uniform measurement which applies everywhere that is objective in nature. They can limit the water coming into the household, says the judge, but they cannot tell the occupants how to use that water. They cannot decree how long to brush your teeth or the duration of your shower.       http://www.rickwells.us/judge-napolitano-california-shower-nazi-jerry-brown-cannot-come-inside-your-house-with-a-stopwatch/

nObama rejects Netanyahu’s Call for Iran to Recognize Israel
(gopthedailydose.com) - On Monday, President Barack nObama casually rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s call to force Iran to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist as part of any agreement on the country’s nuclear program...In an interview with NPR, nObama stated loftily, “The notion that we would condition Iran not getting nuclear weapons in a verifiable deal on Iran recognizing Israel is really akin to saying that we won’t sign a deal unless the nature of the Iranian regime completely transforms. And that is, I think, a fundamental misjudgment.” On Friday, one day after the announcement from the P5+1 powers that the had reached a preliminary “framework” agreement with the terrorist state, Netanyahu said, “Israel will not accept an agreement which allows a country that vows to annihilate us to develop nuclear weapons, period. In addition, Israel demands that any final agreement with Iran will include a clear and unambiguous Iranian recognition of Israel’s right to exist.”        http://gopthedailydose.com/2015/04/07/obama-rejects-netanyahus-call-for-iran-to-recognize-israel/#

 Revived Questions about Huma Abedin
(Matthew Vadum) - Republican lawmakers are probing why Hilly Clinton’s longtime Islamist aide Huma Abedin was allowed to work at the State Department under a special, part-time status while simultaneously working at a politically-connected consulting firm...Demands for information are coming from Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) after the public learned both women used Clinton’s private Internet server and email accounts for Department of State correspondence.  Why Is nObama's Fact Sheet Different From Iran's Fact Sheet?
(Jeff Dunetz) - On Friday Iran's foreign ministry released a fact sheet entitled  "Summary of the Package of Joint Solutions for Reaching a Comprehensive Plan of Joint Action" it is Iran's version of the Fact Sheet published by the nObama Administration...The Strange part about it is that Iran's fact sheet is much different than the plan nObama is selling. Below is the Iranian version of the talking points translated from the Farsi by Payam Mohseni.  French Document Shows Troubling Discrepancies With US on Iran Deal
(investigativeproject.org) - U.S. and Iranian officials have described last week's framework for a deal to slow Iran's nuclear weapons program with disturbingly different details. According to a Times of Israel report Tuesday, the U.S. account also differs significantly with a key ally – France...The proposed deal lets Iran continue to develop use advanced centrifuges which could allow for uranium enrichment as much as 20 times faster than the Islamic Republic's current technology. After 12 years, Iran can actually resume enriching uranium, which the newspaper reported "would enable Iran to more rapidly accumulate the highly enriched uranium needed to build nuclear weapons, accelerating its breakout time to the bomb." The source is an internal French government fact-sheet which the newspaper was able to review, but which has not been released publicly. That timeline, however, dovetails with an acknowledgment President nObama made this week in an interview with National Public Radio. Iran's "break-out" time to make a bomb could shrink "almost down to zero" by year 13 after any final deal is negotiated, nObama said.       http://www.investigativeproject.org/4817/report-internal-french-document-shows-troubling

nObama Admin Wins Immigration Court Battle – Miss VS DHS
(theconservativetreehouse.com) - The Fifth District Court of Appeals upheld the dismissal of a lawsuit against an nObama administration DACA program – delaying deportations of illegal aliens who came to the U.S. as children...This is a different case than the challenge as to whether President nObama’s expanded immigration executive actions can proceed. In today’s decision the court ruled plaintiffs’, the state of Mississippi and agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), did not provide enough evidence to prove they were harmed by the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that allows qualifying illegal immigrants to apply for work permits.       http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/04/07/obama-administration-wins-immigration-court-battle-mississippi-vs-u-s-dept-of-homeland-security/

U.K. May Fire 100 Islamist Educators in "Trojan Horse" Scandal
(John Rossomando) - At least 100 Islamist teachers and teaching assistants implicated in last year's "Trojan Horse" teaching scandal in Birmingham, England may face lifetime teaching bans...Last June, the U.K.'s Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted) found evidence that hardline Islamists had attempted to take control of some state schools. The report found that staff and headteachers felt "intimidated," "undermined" or bullied into making changes they opposed. Some headteachers with records of improving classroom standards were either marginalized or forced out of their jobs. In some cases, teachers faced unfair treatment due to their gender or religious beliefs.       http://www.investigativeproject.org/4818/uk-may-fire-100-islamist-educators-in-Trojan

Qaddafi of Libya, an nObama success story?

 Decoding the nObama Doctrine
(Daniel Pipes) - James Jeffrey, Barack nObama's former ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Iraq, has this to say about the administration's current record in the Middle East: "We're in a goddamn free fall."...Count the mistakes: Helping overthrow Muammar Qaddafi in Libya, leading to anarchy and civil war. Pressuring Husni Mubarak of Egypt to resign, then backing the Muslim Brotherhood, leading now-president Sisi to turn toward Moscow. Alienating Washington's most stalwart ally in the region, the Government of Israel. Dismissing ISIS as "junior varsity" just before it seized major cities. Hailing Yemen as a counterterrorism success just before its government was overthrown. Alarming the Saudi authorities to the point that they put together a military alliance against Iran. Coddling Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey, encouraging his dictatorial tendencies. Leaving Iraq and Afghanistan prematurely, dooming the vast American investment in those two countries. And, most of all: Making dangerously flawed deals with the nuclear-ambitious mullahs of Iran.       http://www.danielpipes.org/15722/decoding-the-obama-doctrine

It’s ‘Victory Over America Day’ in Iran
(Thomas Donnelly) - The nObama administration’s actions have shown the Iranians that they can continue their gradual march toward regional hegemony and save their nukes for another day...As a result, Sunni states are likely to feel threatened and go nuclear. What would the Shah do? “The Shah,” as in Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, the last crown prince of the Imperial State of Iran and occupant of the Peacock Throne, the ruler overthrown by the Iranian Revolution of 1979, but also a man possessed — as the mullahs who replaced him are — by dreams of Persian greatness. That is to ask, is there an enduring strategic logic behind Iran accepting a deal that temporarily “blocks every pathway” to a nuclear weapon,” as President nObama declared?       http://www.aei.org/publication/its-victory-over-america-day-in-iran/?utm_source=paramount&utm_medium=email&utm_content=AEITODAY&utm_campaign=040715

Vanity & Venality
Burt_Header_M2.jpg
(burtprelutsky.com) - Recently, there was an event held in Washington, D.C., for the purpose of honoring excellence in American journalism. (Stop laughing, I’m being serious.) And what’s more, the keynote address was delivered by Hilly Clinton, who was clearly looking to curry favor by saying – with a straight face, apparently – “We need more than ever smart, fair-minded journalists to challenge our assumptions, push us towards new solutions, and hold all of us accountable.”

Then, in spite of the fact that she refused to answer any questions, the assemblage gave her a standing ovation. Only in Washington could a candidate for president pretend to mean such utter hogwash and a group of 300 left-wing propagandists pretend to believe she meant it.

On her way out the door, Mrs. Clinton rubbed their little pink bellies and handed out doggy treats.

Although I am quick to criticize Mrs. Clinton, I am only too happy to acknowledge that she possesses more testosterone in her little finger than the GOP’s congressional leaders have in their entire bodies.

♦ One thing I would like to point out, however, is that when polls pit Mrs. Clinton against various potential 2016 opponents and shows her leading them by anywhere from 10-15%, it would be wise to keep in mind that whereas she has her party’s nomination all but sewn up, most of the Republicans haven’t even tossed their hats in the ring. Therefore, most Republican voters aren’t even sure at this point whether they favor Walker or Bush, Cruz or Paul, Rubio or Fiorina. The party is still more than a year away from selecting a nominee, but I can assure you that once that’s been decided, Hilly Clinton is unlikely to lead in the polls.

For one thing, nObama will leave the White House under a far darker cloud than did George W. Bush. That means Hilly will have to run against his policies, which will turn off nObama’s greatest admirers, especially among blacks. On the other hand, if she adopts his anti-Israel policies, she will turn off a sizable number of wealthy Jews. If she veers in the opposite direction, she will antagonize an even larger number of liberal Jews.

As a woman pushing 70, she will hardly be attractive to young voters. As someone who has already spent eight years in the White House, she won’t have the advantage of running as either a newcomer or a Washington outsider. And with all of that, she will also be toting more baggage than a team of bellhops.

♦ Speaking of Jewish voters, if there is one question readers ask me more than any other, it’s why do so many Jews insist on voting almost exactly like those with whom they seemingly have so little in common; namely blacks and Hispanics. The answer is both simple and complicated.

Being secular myself, I feel a little strange casting stones at those who are Jews in Name Only (JINOs), although it might be more appropriate to say in names only. After all, if they didn’t have names like Goldstein, Rosenberg and, well, Prelutsky, you’d have no other way of knowing they’re Jewish. A great many of them don’t even side with Israel in its endless conflict with those dedicated to completing the job begun 80 years ago by Adolf Hitler.

The sad fact is that a large percentage of these schmucks, particularly those to be found in the ranks of students or professors on our college campuses, regard Israel as a greater threat to world peace than Russia, China, North Korea or Iran.

Frankly, it would help clarify things if those who are JINOs only because their great-grandparents were religiously observant and refused to change the family name to Green, Perry or Burns, when they landed at Ellis Island, would simply call themselves liberals and stop modifying it with “Jewish.”

♦ Speaking of related matters, when Bernard Goldberg dumped me from his blog because he felt I sometimes went too far when being critical of gays, urban blacks and Muslims, I felt he was entirely within his rights. I still do. However, replacing me with a guy like Pat Buchanan, who hates Jews and Israel nearly as much as Barack nObama, really cuts me to the quick. I guess this must be how it feels to be a loyal wife of many years who wakes up one day to find she’s been abandoned for a gum-popping bimbo.

♦ Finally, I understand that vanity is supposed to be something of a character flaw, but if it is, it is obviously one that is shared by nearly every member of the human race. That is particularly true for those involved in the visual arts, the men and women whose faces and bodies are their key to fame and fortune.

That is why I am always so delighted when any of those who earn their keep in front of a camera can candidly and wittily sum up their own shortcomings. Two such that come to mind are Martin Clunes (star of the English TV series “Doc Martin”), who described himself as possessing “jug ears and child-bearing lips;” and the inimitable Joyce Grenfell, a toothy English actress and monologist, who owned up to being “about eight feet tall with a face that looks like a reflection in a spoon.”

For my part, I recently received a photo of myself from a friend, and complained, “It’s a terrible picture…it looks just like me!”

Iran Is Too Radical to Recognize Israel, Says … Obama?

“The notion that we could condition Iran not getting nuclear weapons … on Iran recognizing Israel is really akin to saying that we won’t sign a deal unless the nature of the Iranian regime completely transforms,” Barack Obama explained in an interview with NPR. “And that is, I think, a fundamental misjudgment. … We want Iran not to have nuclear weapons precisely because we can’t bank on the nature of the regime changing.” Believe it or not, Obama is right in a sense. The Iranians are entirely too radical to recognize Israel and, in fact, regularly promise to annihilate the Jewish state. But isn’t “fundamental transformation” Obama’s specialty?

Obama Admits Iran Won’t Be Far From Nukes

Barack Obama may like to insist that his deal ensures Iran will never obtain nuclear weapons, but even he admitted the opposite in an interview with NPR. “Most of [Iran’s] enriched uranium is supposed to be set off to the side and diluted; it may, however, remain inside Iran,” Obama said. “Eventually, the deal expires. Perhaps the uranium is still there, which is why … where the regime changes is a significant question.” He then said, “[T]hey’re not going to have been able to horde a bunch of uranium that somehow they then convert to weapons-grade uranium. What is a more relevant fear would be that in year 13, 14, 15, they have advanced centrifuges that enrich uranium fairly rapidly, and at that point the breakout times would have shrunk almost down to zero.” Not to worry, though. He said, “[C]urrently, the breakout times are only about two to three months by our intelligence estimates. So essentially, we’re purchasing for 13, 14, 15 years assurances that the breakout is at least a year … that – that if they decided to break the deal, kick out all the inspectors, break the seals and go for a bomb, we’d have over a year to respond. And we have those assurances for at least well over a decade.” Everything is awesome. But he just put his seal of approval on a future Iranian nuke.

Schumer Agrees Congress Must Approve Iran Deal

We didn’t have high hopes for soon-to-be Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, but he’s proven himself sane on at least one count: joining several other Democrats in pushing for Congress to vote on Barack Obama’s deal with Iran. “This is a very serious issue that deserves careful consideration,” Schumer said, “and I expect to have a classified briefing in the near future. I strongly believe Congress should have the right to disapprove any agreement and I support the Corker bill which would allow that to occur.” He’s referring to Sen. Bob Corker’s Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, which requires a two-month review period for Congress and a final vote before sanctions on Iran can be lifted. “[B]efore [the Obama administration] starts unraveling the [sanctions on Iran] that Congress put in place, we want to make sure that they show us the deal,” Corker said in a statement prior to Congress' recess. Schumer’s support will help. Then again, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest assured, “The sales pitch has only just begun.” And Nancy Pelosi may just save Obama in the House.

Obama Attacks Walker’s Foreign Policy Bona Fides

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker had decisive words for Barack Obama’s deal with Iran: If the Republican were elected president, he would throw out the deal on the first day of office. Barack Obama’s reply was haughty, dismissive and forgetful of where he was seven years ago. In aninterview with NPR, Obama said of Walker’s declaration, “I am confident that any president who gets elected will be knowledgeable enough about foreign policy and knowledgeable enough about the traditions and precedents of presidential power that they won’t start calling to question the capacity of the executive branch of the United States to enter into agreements with other countries. … It would be a foolish approach to take, and, you know, perhaps Mr. Walker, after he’s taken some time to bone up on foreign policy, will feel the same way.” If Walker does reach the White House, he’ll have executive experience developed as governor of Wisconsin – something Obama never gained when he was the freshman senator in Illinois or a community organizer in Chicago. And the fruits of that show in his administration’s dealings with Iraq, Ukraine, Yemen, China, etc. Because of that, Obama can only resort to narcissistic counter attacks that label everyone else stupid. More…

Obama Slams Christians – Again

Barack Obama, who claims to be a Christian, used Tuesday’s Easter Prayer Breakfast at the White House as an opportunity to criticize the faithful. Obama declared, “On Easter, I do reflect on the fact that, as a Christian, I’m supposed to love, and I have to say that sometimes when I listen to less-than-loving expressions by Christians, I get concerned.” He is “concerned” about “less-than-loving expressions by Christians,” in reference to those who do not comport lockstep with his view on same-sex marriage, while offering not a word on the plight of Christians targeted by Muslims worldwide. Just last week, after nearly 150 students were slaughtered in Kenya, commenting on the massacre, Obama neglected to mention that the killers were Muslim and all the victims Christian. Recall that in February, Obama used the National Prayer Breakfast todefend Islam and criticize Christianity, claiming, “Lest we get on our high horse and think [terrorism] is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ.” At both events, Obama’s comments were not only inappropriate, they were inaccurate. More…

RIGHT ANALYSIS

Libertarian Paul Courts Conservatives

2015-04-08-7c2b1f38_large.png

Rand Paul announced his candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in Louisville Tuesday. He began, “I have a message – a message that is loud and clear and does not mince words: We have come to take our country back.” While his supporters cheered his announcement, several questions remain for Paul, not least of which is whether a libertarian can earn the support of enough Republicans to win the nomination in a field soon to be crowded with other highly attractive candidates.

Dr. Paul certainly seems to be a fine man. He’s a church-going Christian with a wife and three sons. He’s an ophthalmologist who often extends his services free of charge to those who can’t afford them. Through the Children of the Americas Program, he provides these services to children throughout Latin America.

Paul is a great asset in the Senate, to which he was elected during a swell of Tea Party enthusiasm in 2010. He’ll simultaneously run for re-election in 2016 after Kentucky’s legislature made a special exception for him to seek two offices, normally not allowed by law.

But Paul has virtually been a presidential candidate since he was first elected, and that has made for some unconvincing policy shifts – especially on national security – as he tries to position himself for electoral success. For example, he raised a few eyebrows with the rapid evolution in his foreign policy views, leaving many to wonder whether he really knows what foreign policies he would pursue as president.

Recently, he called for an increase of $76 billion in defense funding, raising the Senate Budget Committee’s total to $696 billion. (Interestingly, Marco Rubio has called for the same increase.) But in 2011, his first year in the Senate, Paul proposed significant cuts in defense spending. The change is almost certainly driven by primary politics.

And last year, Paul’s opinion regarding airstrikes against ISIL evolved from “very skeptical” to strongly supportive in a three-month period. Whatever the merits of the issue, any Republican candidate would be grilled about such a sudden change in opinion regarding a critical foreign policy.

Needless to say, his voting to raise the defense budget won him no plaudits among libertarians. “[L]et’s be clear: It ain’t gonna help at all with libertarians who see in Paul their best hope for a major party politician whom they would vote for in a presidential race,” wrote Nick Gillespie, editor in chief of the libertarian Reason.com. “Paul toys with lower-case libertarians at his own peril.”

Still, Paul hopes he can build a coalition of fed-up conservatives and Millennials large enough to win.

Paul’s social agenda includes transforming our criminal justice system, which currently imprisons people for relatively minor offenses, putting them into penitentiaries where they learn how to be hardened criminals. Instead, Paul says petty criminals could be forced to make restitution, and mandatory minimum sentencing should end.

As American Spectator editor R. Emmett Tyrell explains, “The United States has less than 5 percent of the world’s population, but it has 25 percent of the world’s prisoners. According to the Charles Koch Institute, incarceration leads to ‘a 40 percent decrease in annual earnings, reduced job tenure, and higher unemployment.’”

In his speech Tuesday, Paul said he wants to see a new economic boom and “a return to a government restrained by the Constitution.” The two are related. “Opportunity and hope are slipping away for our sons and daughters,” he warned “[a]s our once-great economy collapses under mounting spending and debt.”

“Congress will never balance the budget unless you force them too,” he added. “I propose something extraordinary. Let’s just spend what comes in.”

Furthermore, he said, “Under the watch of both parties, the poor seem to get poorer, the rich get richer. … My plan includes economic freedom zones to allow impoverished areas to prosper … by leaving more money in the pockets of the people who live there.”

He spoke without benefit of a teleprompter, something all prospective Republican candidates do well. He offers many good ideas that could reignite both the economy and the flame of Liberty. He just has to win the primaries.

At least two people present a clear challenge to Paul on that front. The first is fellow candidateTed Cruz, who is a maverick of a somewhat similar ilk and will compete for Tea Party votes. Cruz called Paul his “good friend,” but the two differ on important issues, the major one being the extent to which America should extend herself in the world militarily.

The second man who could undermine Paul’s run is his father, Ron Paul. The elder Paul doesn’t share the nuanced views of his son and likes to call ‘em as he sees 'em – which is sometimes alarming to conservatives. It’s hardly likely that he’ll remain silent throughout the entire campaign. “Pop” could end up being the shot that ends Rand’s campaign.

In short, Paul’s announcement is just the second in what is sure to be a long string of candidates. Indeed, 2016 will present the most wide-open field the GOP has seen in a very long time, and we expect a spirited campaign.

Another Gun Grab: Tax Breaks for ARs

2015-04-08-f616a6c9_large.png

Joe Bango took his AR-15 rifle out of his safe and traveled to the headquarters of the Connecticut State Police in Middletown. It was weeks after a mentally deranged man shot his mother and proceeded to use a gun similar to Bango’s to murder 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Bango was taking his to the police to have it destroyed.

The Connecticut native owned the AR-15 for 10 years but never used it. Suddenly, Bango saw it as a liability. “There’s always a chance it can be stolen,” The New Haven Register quoted him as saying. “It’s an attractive nuisance. You can lock it in a safe, but people think there may be valuables in there. Why take a chance if I’m not using it?”

The press and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) were at the station. In a public display, Bango gave up his rifle to a police lieutenant who wore a pistol on his hip. In that move, Bango became the impetus for the warmed over piece of gun control idiocy DeLauro re-introduced to Congress this week.

The bill, Support Assault Firearm Elimination and Education of our Streets Act (SAFER Streets Act), would give a $2,000 tax credit over two years for anyone who, like Bango, voluntarily give up their “assault weapon” as defined by the federal government. It was a bill Bango suggested to his Nutmegger representative.

Gun grabbers exploited the Sandy Hook murders in order to introduce lots of bad bills. This bill is no exception.

“Let us be clear. Assault weapons are not about hunting or even self-defense and they should be off the streets,” DeLauro said in a statement introducing the original bill. “There is no reason on Earth, other than to kill as many people as possible in a very short period of time, that anyone needs a gun designed for military purposes.”

Did DeLauro even try? She barely tweaked that statement when she reissued it this week.

It’s hard to take her bill seriously – because she seemingly didn’t. And it will go nowhere in the Republican Congress.

There are unsubstantiated facts, such as her claim that assault weapons “have been disproportionately used to kill law enforcement officers in the line of duty.”

What baloney. The Executive Director for the Fraternal Order of Police, in countering Obama’s attempted administrative move against popular AR-15 ammunition, said M855 “green tip” ammunition “has not historically posed a threat to law enforcement.”

In terms of reducing crime, that’s already done. The Department of Justice’s own numbers show that violent crime dropped 75% since 1993, and the murder rate has been halved. As National Review’s Charles C.W. Cooke writes, “[S]o-called 'assault rifles’ are used so infrequently that the FBI doesn’t even keep statistics.”

And the whole plan of using the IRS as a carrot to entice people to give up their guns? That’srich.

Reason Magazine’s J.D. Tuccille argues it could be good for the gun industry: “If Rep. DeLauro wants to hand out tax credits to people willing trade in a qualifying hunk of junk so they can score sweet new guns, it would be churlish to say ‘no.’”

Hey! April will be stimulus month at Bushmaster, Stag Arms and DPMS!

Furthermore, this could be a boon for the developing market for 80% AR-15 receivers. What used to be a high-end project for gun nuts with access to a milling machine could become an easy way to get a tax credit, thanks to DeLauro. The thing you hand in to the government just has to be defined as an “assault weapon.” Does it have to work? We read the bill. Nope.

This episode illustrates two strategies of gun control advocates. First, DeLauro’s bill is incremental. The Right blogosphere is rife with jokes about how a Democrat wants to give gun owners heaps of cash for guns. But really, it’s a subtle change that will set a government precedent of discouraging gun ownership.

Make no mistake: DeLauro wants all the scary-looking guns banned. “She supports a comprehensive ban on assault weapons as well as high-capacity ammunition feeding devices,” her press release reads. She won’t be content with just giving a tax credit for her favorite people.

Second, her bill is full of the rhetoric of gun control crusaders: that it’s a safety issue, or a public health risk. DeLauro introduced this bill to commemorate Public Health Week.

If Joe Bango doesn’t want his gun anymore, that’s his right – just like it’s every American’s rightnot to speak his or her mind, or not practice any religion. But if somehow Congress were to pass this law, it would be a clear infringement of the Second Amendment, as the government would actively encourage people to disarm. Bango and DeLauro should not confuse personal decisions with policy.

OPINION IN BRIEF

American statesman John C. Calhoun (1782-1850): “Stripped of all its covering, the naked question is, whether ours is a federal or consolidated government; a constitutional or absolute one; a government resting solidly on the basis of the sovereignty of the States, or on the unrestrained will of a majority; a form of government, as in all other unlimited ones, in which injustice, violence, and force must ultimately prevail.”

Columnist Jonah Goldberg: “The field of journalistic ethics can get ridiculously Talmudic. But it’s all based on a very simple rule: Tell the truth. If the truth is unclear, tell what you know and give both sides (or as many credible sides to a story as might exist) an opportunity to make their case. (For opinion journalists, like yours truly, the rule is even easier: Don’t say anything you don’t believe.) Rolling Stone ignored this basic rule. At every stage, editors and reporters knew what they should do: Talk to the accused rapists, confirm the identities and testimony of alleged witnesses, give the University of Virginia and the leadership of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, where the rape allegedly occurred, a fair opportunity to rebut the charges, nail down corroborating details, etc. And, at almost every turn, they collectively went another way, caving to Jackie’s refusal to help confirm her story. … [T]he real culprit here is ideological groupthink in service to a political agenda. … [I]n their hearts they’re sure they were right, and that’s all that matters.”

Columnist Walter Williams: “People with limited understanding make the mistake of making a link between economic freedom and democracy. There is no such necessary link. India, for example, politically is a democracy. Economically, it is mostly unfree and poor, ranking 128th on the 2015 Index of Economic Freedom. There are countries much higher on the economic freedom index that do not have much of a history of democracy, such as Chile, now ranking seventh, and Taiwan, 14th, yet these countries are far wealthier than some of their more democratic counterparts. Why? It’s because their economic systems are free or mostly free, something that is not guaranteed by a democratic political system. The bottom line for why some countries are rich while others are poor is best-explained by the amount of economic freedom.”

2016 POWER INDEX: RAND SO FAR AWAY, BUT GAINING
The legacy game is a tricky thing. Republican establishment frontrunner Jeb Bush is trying to show that he can be as good at running for president as his older brother. The former Florida governor is even using a similar outreach to evangelical voters to replicate George W. Bush’s 2000 success. But for Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, the question is instead how he can differ from his famous father, former Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who unsuccessfully sought the GOP nomination in 2008 and 2012. As the younger Paul makes ready for his Tuesday announcement, his campaign offers
a trailer-style video in which he promises to be “a different kind of Republican.” His father was certainly that. The question for the son is whether he can be more successful.
          As the
latest round of polls shows, Paul is in about the same spot his dad was in 2012: lots of buzz and fired-up grassroots support but with numbers in the high single digits. Can he change the trajectory and broaden his appeal without losing the core libertarian support he inherited from his father? How does Paul reach out to get in the top tier without seeing his base crumble underneath him? So far, Paul has been given remarkable latitude to reach a truce with the GOP establishment and to even modify stances on core positions, particularly with a recent call for a huge hike in Defense spending. There’s danger, though, in the form of Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, who has publicly feuded with Paul in the past and is now targeting the same group of voters as Paul. While Paul has latitude in dealing with ultra-hawk Cruz, Cruz will certainly be poised to hit Paul for any other perceived apostasies. Cruz’s candidacy will be a limiting reagent for Paul’s.
Paul’s best argument in the months to come will likely center on general-election viability. If his core supporters and media backers can keep Paul in the game through the early debate rounds, he can position himself as a chance worth taking for a party desperate to regain the White House. As last week’s Quinnipiac University polls show, Paul connects with the general electorate in a way that frontrunners Bush and Gov. Scott Walker struggle to do. If there is a problem at the top of the pack and Paul has maintained his viability through the first furlongs of the race, he might end up in the discussion. At the very least, Paul is poised to be near the top of the short list for running mates, particularly if Bush is the nominee. And wouldn’t that be fitting? Rand Paul would help Jeb Bush exorcise the foreign policy problems he inherited from brother while Jeb Bush helped Rand Paul unload the baggage from his famous name.  -Fox News

WITH YOUR SECOND CUP OF COFFEE
Baseball is back. Big-league play got underway Sunday night with a shutout victory by the St. Louis Cardinals over the Chicago Cubs in an, um, inauspicious beginning of a new era for Wrigley Field. And as the rest of the teams hit the field today, we’ll get to see lots of Americana on display (WashEx offers an impressive catalogue of presidential first pitches) and baseball fans everywhere will deeply delight. But for those of you baseball haters – and we know you are legion – perhaps consider this meditation from Michael Brendan Dougherty on the virtues of the game in this era of acrimony: “Because unlike nearly every other part of American life right now, in baseball, the rules and stakes are relatively clear. At the end of the game there is no dispute over who won or lost. The teams and their fans do not get to walk away with a conflicting set of facts. The greatness of an opponent is a threat only to your team, not to your sense of self-worth, or your feeling of membership in your country.”

HILLY PICKS HARD-HITTING LOYALIST AS TOP TALKER
In the latest sign of the bare-knuckled approach from Hilly Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee has tapped her former press secretary, Karen Finney, as her campaign’s top spokeswoman. Finney has been part of Clinton’s shadow campaign network since last year following the cancellation of Finney’s short-lived MSNBC show “Disrupt.” During her television career, Finney was famous for pulling no punches and partisan attacks. Finney once referred to “crazy crackers on the right” who opposed a comprehensive immigration bill and another time likened Republicans to the defenders of Apartheid. Clinton, who has reportedly selected a campaign headquarters, is expected to make her candidacy official in the next week or two-Fox News

Gary Hart lacerates Hilly: ‘We need new leaders’ -   The prospect of a billion-dollar Clinton campaign “ought to frighten every American,” former Colorado Sen. Gary Hart told Politico. Hart, who has been the recent beneficiary of some historical revisionism about his disastrous 1988 presidential run, says his party needs a competitive primary challenge to force Hilly to get “specific” on issues. Hart adds he likes the Democratic frontrunner, “but we need new leaders.”   -Fox News

2016 SENATE POLLS: PORTMAN DOWN, TOOMEY UP, FLA.   WIDE OPEN
A new Quinnipiac University swing state poll of 2016 Senate contests released today shows Republican Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio trailing lead Democrat, former Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland by 9 points. Helped by independent voters, Strickland leads 49 percent to Portman’s 29 percent.  The incumbent Republican In Pennsylvania, Sen. Pat Toomey, leads Democratic challenger Joe Sestak 48 - 35 percent, according to the survey. In Florida, where Sen. Marco Rubio expected to make his 2016 presidential intentions known next week, the contest looks wide open if he passes on re-election. Republican State Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater is the strongest candidate, getting 38 percent to 34 percent for Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla. Atwater leads another possible Democratic candidate, Rep. Alan Grayson, 42 - 32 percent. In other possible matchups sans Rubio, Murphy gets 35 percent to 31 percent for GOP Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera and Lopez-Cantera gets 33 percent to 32 percent for Grayson.   -Fox News

 Repeating History Yet Again
(Bruce Thornton) - We all should be angry right now about the disastrous “general understanding” with Iran about its nuclear ambitions. According to its terms, Iran will not shut down a single facility, will not dismantle a single centrifuge, and will not ship its stockpile of enriched uranium out of the country...Various inspection regimes and “sanctions snap-back” are supposed to punish Iran for cheating on its commitments, but those are empty threats. Worse yet, sanctions will be lifted upon signing, at least according to the Iranians. This means billions will pour into the coffers of the Republican Guard, money that will finance its current expansion throughout the region and support for terrorists. The simple fact that will result from a formalization of these “key parameters” is that Iran will become a nuclear power and the regional hegemon, with serious consequences for our own and our allies’ security and interests. What is depressing about this failure is that it has happened so many times before, a history that should have aroused some prudence and caution in our leaders.      http://www.frontpagemag.com/2015/bruce-thornton/repeating-history-yet-again/?utm_source=FrontPage+Magazine&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=282311e64f-Mailchimp_FrontPageMag&utm_term=0_57e32c1dad-282311e64f-156509103

The West's Romance with Iran and Islamists
(Uzay Bulut) - In the eyes of most Islamists -- whether or Sunni or Shia -- nothing is cheaper or more worthless than human life. It can be seen in the accelerating rate of executions in Iran since the "moderate" President Hassan Rouhani arrived on the scene, and in the ghoulish slaughters committed by ISIS...As terrorists throughout the Muslim world lay down their own lives to bring death, the U.S. and Europe silently watch Islamic terrorism in Sudan, in Pakistan, in Iraq and Syria by ISIS, in Nigeria by Boko Haram and especially in Iran by the Mullahs' regime, which the P5+1 (the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) deludedly still seem to think will turn nuclear warheads into plowshares.       http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5488/islamists-romance

You were given the choice between war and dishonor
(Keith Davies) - Neville Chamberlain as a politician goes, was honest but deceived, today’s leader of the Western world Barack Hussein nObama is far from honest and has already built a level of deception beyond any President that preceded him including President Richard Nixon...The leftists and their buddies in the media expect the American people to believe the spin that this “framework” will stop Iran from gaining nukes, anyone who believes this folly can only be described as a far left zealot. The United States foreign policy has failed continually since nObama has taken office. Our allies hate us and our enemies laugh at us. We the people by voting the way we have done twice, have allowed this president the privilege of literally destroying our reputation and self respect as a nation. Further we have weakened our defenses, and the world is now a tinderbox for a major war. Every foreign policy that has been pursued by this President is a failure, from the “Russian reset,” The Arab Spring and the disaster in Libya, the Arab Israeli conflict and our relationship with Israel, our evil relationship with the Muslim Brotherhood which has put us on the side of every bad actor in the Middle East, and now this joke of a “framework” with Iran, that not only will fail but will allow Iran to achieve its goal of getting a nuclear bomb and have all their sanctions removed. You choice dishonor and you will have war.       http://shoebat.com/2015/04/05/you-were-given-the-choice-between-war-and-dishonor-you-chose-dishonor-and-you-will-have-war/

(Dalit Halevy, Ari Yashar) - The Canadian government has not shared US President Barack nObama's enthusiasm over the deal reached with Iran over its nuclear program last Thursday...by which the Islamic regime continues enriching uranium at reduced levels in exchange for the removal of sanctions. Canadian Foreign Minister Rob Nicholson responded to the deal, warning that the Islamic regime may still be able to obtain a nuclear weapon even with the agreement. "We have to make every possible diplomatic effort to ensure that Iran will never be able to achieve the ability to develop a nuclear weapon," said Nicholson, noting such a development could spark a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.       http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/193709#.VSMhqZt02vG

(rickwells.us) - American patriots, including one State Trooper who assisted, took down the flag of the Communist Chinese government which was being flown alongside that of the United States and the flag of Washington State at the State Capitol...The socialist Democrat governor, Jay Inslee, had ordered that the flag be flown at an equal position to the American flag in honor of the visiting Chinese Ambassador Cui Tiankai. Tea Party patriots, carrying an American flag as well as one of the familiar yellow Gadsden flags, who were outraged at the spectacle of the symbol of foreign tyranny sharing equal status with our own national symbol on our own soil, took corrective action.  EPA Claims New And Improved Land And Water Grab Regulations
(rickwells.us) - The EPA power grab stops for no one, although they are claiming to have slowed down a little. They are also telling us that they’ve made some alterations to their water-based land and power grab as a result of public input...Those concessions would have never taken place were Republicans and specifically Jim Inhofe (R-OK) not now holding oversight positions as a result of the November elections. There have been mountains of negative public input in the past under complicit Democrat oversight and it hasn’t made any difference. They never hesitated or missed a single progressive step. On Monday, the EPA sent to their masters in the White House, the “new and improved” unnecessary regulations to expand their authority under the guise of control water pollution. It’s an effort to seize control over all water in the United States, regardless of its nature or location, but to do so in a manner, as is always the case, in which they can proclaim to be doing so in a national interest.       http://www.rickwells.us/epa-claims-new-and-improved-land-and-water-grab-regulations-diluted-more-legal-and-less-obvious/

An Engineered Drought
Victor Davis Hanson
(city-journal.org) - California governor Jerry Brown had little choice but to issue a belated, state-wide mandate to reduce water usage by 25 percent. How such restrictions will affect Californians remains to be seen, given the Golden State’s wide diversity in geography, climate, water supply, and demography.

We do know two things. First, Brown and other Democratic leaders will never concede that their own opposition in the 1970s (when California had about half its present population) to the completion of state and federal water projects, along with their more recent allowance of massive water diversions for fish and river enhancement, left no margin for error in a state now home to 40 million people. Second, the mandated restrictions will bring home another truth as lawns die, pools empty, and boutique gardens shrivel in the coastal corridor from La Jolla to Berkeley: the very idea of a 20-million-person corridor along the narrow, scenic Pacific Ocean and adjoining foothills is just as unnatural as “big” agriculture’s Westside farming. The weather, climate, lifestyle, views, and culture of coastal living may all be spectacular, but the arid Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay-area megalopolises must rely on massive water transfers from the Sierra Nevada, Northern California, or out-of-state sources to support their unnatural ecosystems.

Now that no more reservoir water remains to divert to the Pacific Ocean, the exasperated Left is damning “corporate” agriculture (“Big Ag”) for “wasting” water on things like hundreds of thousands of acres of almonds and non-wine grapes. But the truth is that corporate giants like “Big Apple,” “Big Google,” and “Big Facebook” assume that their multimillion-person landscapes sit atop an aquifer. They don’t—at least, not one large enough to service their growing populations. Our California ancestors understood this; they saw, after the 1906 earthquake, that the dry hills of San Francisco and the adjoining peninsula could never rebuild without grabbing all the water possible from the distant Hetch Hetchy watershed. I have never met a Bay Area environmentalist or Silicon Valley grandee who didn’t drink or shower with water imported from a far distant water project.

The Bay Area remains almost completely reliant on ancient Hetch Hetchy water supplies from the distant Sierra Nevada, given the inability of groundwater pumping to service the Bay Area’s huge industrial and consumer demand for water. But after four years of drought, even Hetch Hetchy’s huge Sierra supplies have only about a year left, at best. Again, the California paradox: those who did the most to cancel water projects and divert reservoir water to pursue their reactionary nineteenth-century dreams of a scenic, depopulated, and fish-friendly environment enjoy lifestyles predicated entirely on the fragile early twentieth-century water projects of the sort they now condemn.

It’s now popular to deride California agriculture in cost-benefit terms, given that its share of state GNP (anywhere from 4 percent to 8 percent, depending on how one counts related industries) supposedly does not justify its huge allotted consumption of state water (anywhere from 65 percent to 80 percent). But note the irony: California supplies a staggering percentage of the nation’s fresh vegetables and fruits; it’s among the most efficient producers in the world of beef, dairy, and staple crops. One can purchase an iPhone 6 or a neat new Apple watch, but he still must eat old-fashioned, pre-tech food. There are no calories in Facebook, and even Google can’t supply protein. On the other hand, I can live without an iPad. Who is to say which industry is essential and which isn’t? Insulin and antibiotic production constitute a micro-percentage of GDP, but is their water usage less important than Twitter’s? Is a biologist who studies bait-fish populations in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta really more important than a master tractor driver whose skill gives broccoli to thousands?

We’re suffering the ramifications of the “small is beautiful,” “spaceship earth” ideology of our cocooned elites. Californians have adopted the ancient peasant mentality of a limited good, in which various interests must fight it out for the always scarce scraps. Long ago we jettisoned the can-do visions of our agrarian forebears, who knew California far better than we do and trusted nature far less. Now, like good peasants, we are at one another’s throats for the last drops of a finite supply.

threat-11.jpg?width=273I think it’s time to put a few things regarding the Obama regime into perspective given recent events and while this will, no doubt, bring about the ire of liberals, they just can’t argue against the facts.

Let’s begin…

According to the Obama regime’s FEMA director, W. Craig Fugate, neither Cleveland and Tulsa counties in Oklahoma, ravaged by tornados just a couple of weeks ago, deserve federal tax dollars to assist individuals and businesses in rebuilding efforts.

Governor Mary Fallin is looking for other avenues to cope with the disasters that have devastated that region of the state including assistance from the U.S. Small Business Administration though she shouldn’t be holding her breath.

The nation should take note of this because, on the off chance YOUR town, homes or businesses get torn up due to a natural disaster doesn’t mean that you, under the Obama regime, have any right to taxpayer funded assistance.

Those applying for relief from FEMA must be considered a threat to Obama and his regime who have other plans for our taxpayer dollars.

Let’s move along…

Christian Persecution

Christian persecution is everywhere is America today. The United States is no longer a Christian nation. We have fooled ourselves into believing we are, but the reality is that Christians are an extreme minority. Christians are being murdered throughout our country and the outcry is non-existent. People and churches are silent, except for a handful of true Christians. Christian businesses are targets by the media and the truth is not reported in the press, but untruths are allowed to promulgate about Christian people and their businesses.

What has happened to the Republican Party leadership?  GOP leaders are compromising on Christian values in accepting the Democrat Party’s same-sex, homosexuality, and lesbian activity; all funded and supported for these nauseous behaviors.

Governors’ Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) and Dan Malloy (D-CT)), other Capitol Hill Democrat Party leaders, and other Republican Party leaders are showing their own weaknesses of Christian values as articulated in our Founding Fathers writings and applied to within our Constitution.

Republican Party leaders, including Gov. Mike Pence (R-IN), Asa Hutchinson (R-AR), Gov. Pat McCrory (R-NC), and other Republican Party leaders are yielding in to disgusting activity rather than supporting Christian value issues as proclaimed within our GOP Platform.

These Democrat and Republican Party leaders are tapping the ‘Main-stream’ Medias as their propellant in supporting their own immoral political weaknesses.

There is no Constitutional ‘Right’ to cram nauseous behaviors down our throat.

At the same time, (y)our 1st Amendment protects all who choose to believe, support, practice, and express (y)our Christian Religion values without any misguided Constitutional abuses.

GOP leaders are fading as they disallow and/or dismiss our Constitutional values based on Christian values.  Some 2016 Presidential candidates and others are losing their Christian-based voters and their support therein.
