Two hundred and fifty years ago, American colonists who criticized King George III would find themselves arrested and thrown into prison.  Sometimes they lost their businesses, homes and families because of their sedition to the crown.  The colonists had no freedom of speech to criticize the king, parliament or even a British citizen.

When James Madison and George Mason penned the Bill of Rights, there was a reason why they made the freedom of speech part of the First Amendment.  It was the right to speak freely and openly criticize the government that was a right they fought for.  They knew that in order to have a republic, not a democracy, the freedom of speech was a vital importance to its success.  (In a democracy, people don’t need the right for free speech as the people elect their own dictators.)

POLL: Does Congress need to revive the House Committee on Un-American activities?

Over recent years, we have seen our freedom of speech being challenged and diminished by the whining’s of a liberal minority.  Now, we are on the verge of losing our First Amendment right to freedom of speech.

Massachusetts Senator Edward Markey (D) and New York Representative Hakeem Jeffries (D) have introduced the Hate Crime Reporting Act of 2014.  The opening of the bill reads:

“To require the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to update a report on the role of telecommunications, including the Internet, in the commission of hate crimes.”

“The report required under subsection (a) shall— “

‘‘(1) analyze information on the use of telecommunications, including the Internet, broadcast  television and radio, cable television, public access television, commercial mobile services, and other electronic media, to advocate and encourage violent acts and the commission of crimes of hate, as de-scribed in the Hate Crime Statistics Act (28 U.S.C. 534 note);”

  • All I can say is to stand true, do not cave into the fear element.  That is what they are looking for and it synonomous of the NWO in suffocating and neutralizing any and ALL Christians.  Remember, Jesus said those that are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of them.  DO NOT allow them to shut you up about OUR GOD!!!!

  • Democrats are so...hateful that they can't tolerate anyone who has a different opinion!!  All they want to do is silence(kill) them so they don't have to think!

  • One of several ironies here is that this bill is intolerant of the very system of tolerance upon which our system of government was designed and built:  the Natural Law basis for our rights. Everyone was created with "certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." My destiny is mine to determine, as long as in pursuing mine I don't violate anyone else' right to pursue THEIR own destiny. My life is mine to live as I wish with the same caveat. "Your rights end where my nose begins."

Democrats and the leftist politically correct crowd they pander to say I have my right to freely express my ideas as long as they agree with what they believe. Kinda like King George III.

This attack on  Christians and conservatives appears purposefully atheistic: Denying the influence of a Higher Power in our lives and as the source of our unalienable rights changes the relationship between Man and his governments - specifically the government in THIS country.  If we allow such a redefinition to take place instead of demanding adherence to the premise laid out by the founders, we would be in effect voluntarily giving up our rights, violating a pact with God acknowledged by government to exist ... and if we are so stupid as to allow this, we are obviously too stupid to realize such a surrender is not possible without denying the existence of God's Grace. Neither Man (nor governments designed by him) have any power over the "Laws of Nature and of Nature's God". Our rights exist in us because they were gifts from the Creator given us at our creation. Natural Rights. Unalienable for that reason.

Much more crap like this and we're headed for round two of the American Revolution ... unless we are also too stupid to recognize tyranny as it grinds its jackbooted heel into our necks.

  • The entire northeast United States is now officially a communist nation in its own right , there are NO Americans living there because no Americans would elect this king of communist filth to office .

  • The law would criminalize many of us who post here. That's what they want.

  • This defrocked priest will be up for re-election in November... one can only hope that Democrats in Massachusetts will finally wake up and stop voting for anyone with a D next to their name.  Unfortunately, there are those in MA who will only vote Democrat no matter who the person is. Case in point they elected an unqualified Marxist named Elizabeth Warren simply because of the D next to her name.  Now the Dems want to run that excuse for a Cherokee Indian for President. God Help Us.

  • Sorry Senator Markey and your hypocritical ilk; play time is almost over.  Enjoy it while you can 'cause "the hand of God" will be reaching out for you soon.  By the way, you do have the right to remain silent (even though you can't), and then.........and then...........and have the right to bend over and kiss your sorry ass goodbye!

  • This won't pass and we will not be silenced. Not ever.

  • Why is it always NO SURPRISE that when shallow-minded people like Senator Markey (who act more in concert with political correctness than with their oath of office) say un-American things or take reckless actions more indicative of an enemy of freedom than an elected representative of the people sworn to protect it, 98% of the time they are Democrats?

That oath reads:  "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

In what alternate universe are actions like Senator Markey's consistent with upholding his  oath of office? Recall, anyone?
