Iranian top official dies of coronavirus

by jpost.com ~ Seyed Mohammad Mir-Mohammadi, a member of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, a body that advises Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei... died on Monday from coronavirus, Sputnik News reported. Some 66 people have died from coronavirus and over 1,500 have been infected in Iran as of Monday morning, Reuters reported. Several high-ranking officials, including a vice minister, deputy health minister and five lawmakers, have tested positive for the coronavirus. "The definite latest numbers we have are 523 new infections and 12 new deaths so the total number of those infected until now is 1501 and the number of deaths is 66," said Iran's Deputy Health Minister, Alireza Raisi. One lawmaker, elected in Iran's February 21 polls, has died of the coronavirus, Iranian media reported last week. Iran's Health Minister Saeed Namaki warned on Friday of "a very difficult week" ahead in the country, which only announced its first infections and deaths from the coronavirus on February 19 and where the death rate among confirmed cases has been around 10%, compared to around 3% elsewhere. Saudi Arabia is now the only Arab Gulf state not to have reported any cases of the coronavirus, which has infected about 80,000 people and killed more than 2,800, mostly in China.

Why Are Palestinians Dying in Hamas Prisons?

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ Essam al-Sa'afeen, a 39-year-old Palestinian from al-Bureij refugee camp in the center of the Gaza Strip, was pronounced dead on February 23... one month after he was arrested by Hamas security forces. His family and friends are demanding answers from Hamas regarding the circumstances of the death al-Sa'afeen, a father of six. Hamas says it has formed a commission of inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death. According to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Interior, which is in charge of the Palestinian security forces in the Gaza Strip, al-Sa'afeen died shortly after he was transferred from prison to a hospital. The ministry said al-Sa'afeen was rushed to the hospital after a "sudden deterioration in his health condition." The Palestinian Fatah faction, headed by Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas, has accused Hamas of brutally torturing al-Sa'afeen during his incarceration. Al-Sa'afeen was a member of Fatah who previously served as a police officer in the PA security forces before Hamas's violent takeover of the Gaza Strip in 2007. On January 27, 2020, masked gunmen arrested al-Sa'afeen on the streets of al-Bureij refugee camp, apparently for his membership in Fatah. Hamas often arrests Fatah members in the Gaza Strip for their political activities and criticisms of Hamas's leaders and policies. Similarly, the Fatah-dominated PA in the West Bank regularly arrests Palestinians in the West Bank because of their affiliation with Hamas. Palestinians call the security crackdown by both parties "politically-motivated arrests." The death of al-Sa'afeen did not surprise Palestinians who are familiar with various methods of torture in Hamas and PA prisons. Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Case on Whether scumbag/liar-nObamacare Is Unconstitutional

{ nationalreview.com } ~ The Supreme Court announced Monday that it would hear a GOP-led effort against scumbag/liar-nObamacare, with opening arguments likely slated for the fall after the justices initially decided against fast-tracking a ruling... scumbag/liar-nObamacare came under threat in December when the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in a 2-1 vote that the individual mandate, which required Americans to buy health insurance under threat of fine, was unconstitutional. But the court kicked the rest of the case back down to Texas district judge Reed O’Connor, who initially decided that the individual mandate was unconstitutional in December 2018. “It may still be that none of the ACA is severable from the individual mandate, even after this inquiry is concluded,” Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod said in her majority opinion. “It may be that all of the ACA is severable from the individual mandate. It may also be that some of the ACA is severable from the individual mandate, and some is not.” The Democratic states and the House, which are leading the defense of the 2010 healthcare statute, intervened and asked the Supreme Court to intervene and fast-track a decision by June, which it turned down. But the Court’s decision to hear the case on a regular track is still unusual, as the case has yet to be fully considered by O’Conner. The Trump administration had urged in its brief for the Court to wait for a lower-court decision. “Immediate review is unwarranted in the case’s present posture,” it wrote, “because the court of appeals did not definitively resolve any question of practical consequence.” Texas and 17 other Republican-led states sued in 2017 after the GOP-led Congress cut the tax penalty for those who lacked insurance to zero — rendering the individual mandate effectively over, and attorney general William Barr expanded the suit this year to argue that the entire law should be found unconstitutional.

That Liberal Groups Blasted as Racist

{ freebeacon.com } ~ House Democrats on Friday passed new regulations on tobacco which, just days before, major liberal policy groups said would "further engrain systemic criminalization and racism."... H.R. 2339, the Reversing the Youth Tobacco Epidemic Act of 2019, passed the House on a nearly party-line vote of 213 to 195. Just 17 Democrats voted against and 5 Republicans in support. The bill is meant as a comprehensive response to the spike in teen nicotine consumption. It prohibits the sale of cigarettes, vapes, or other tobacco products that are flavored in any way, including with menthol, among other reforms. That menthol ban drew the ire of seven liberal policy organizations, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the National Action Network. In a letter sent Monday to H.R. 2339's author Rep. Frank Pallone (D., N.J.) and obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, the groups wrote that they were concerned "a blanket prohibition on menthol and other flavored tobacco products, which will apply to adults, will (1) disproportionately impact people and communities of color; (2) trigger criminal penalties, prioritizing criminalization over public health and harm reduction; and (3) instigate unconstitutional policing and other negative interactions with local law enforcement." The groups' objection comes down to differences in consumer preferences. Eighty-five percent of black smokers report using mentholated cigarettes in the past month, compared to less than 30 percent of white smokers. Hispanic smokers are in the middle, at about 50 percent. Similarly, the letter notes that black people make up 60 percent of the market for flavored cigarillos and "non-premium" cigars also prohibited under the bill. Notably, H.R. 2339 exempts certain "traditional, expensive" cigars from a ban on online tobacco sales, but not those more frequently used by people of color. And we’re not even sure why white men are still anchoring CNN’s late afternoon and primetime programs, but at least Anderson Cooper is gay. Not sure what the deal is with Wolf Blitzer, though. But of course, that’s not the “diversity” that Barr is talking about; he’s talking about ideological diversity, which is a concept the corporate media has absolutely no use for. Well, that’s not exactly true: You can be a fervent liberal or a mild liberal or a NeverTrump conservative liberal. That’s pretty much your entire window right there, and it is a pretty narrow one. “Although totalitarian democracy is democratic in form, it requires an all-knowing elite to guide the masses toward their determined end, and that elite relies on whipping up mass enthusiasm to preserve its power and achieve its goals,” Barr warned. “Totalitarian democracy is almost always secular and materialistic, and its adherents tend to treat politics as a substitute for religion. Their sacred mission is to use the coercive power of the state to remake man and society according to an abstract ideal of perfection.” Every time we hear this attorney general speak, we’re more impressed than we were the last time. Democrats Misrepresented Intel Claiming Russia Favored Trump

Thomas Gallatin Intelligence officials are pushing back against recent Leftmedia claims that Russia was actively working to interfere in the 2020 presidential election to “try and get President [Donald] Trump reelected.” Following a closed-door February 13 House Intelligence Committee meeting in which top election-security official Shelby Pierson briefed lawmakers on Moscow’s interference efforts, The New York Times headlined its report on U.S. intelligence officials’ warning: “Russia Backs Trump’s Re-election, and [Trump] Fears Democrats Will Exploit Its Support.”

That report, which was quickly “confirmed” and disseminated across the Leftmedia landscape, predictably and understandably drew the ire of Trump, who disputed the claims as yet another politically motivated Democrat hoax. Trump likewise challenged a similar report a week later asserting that the Russians were actively seeking to interfere on commie-Bernie Sanders’s behalf.

Now, as has become all too common during the Trump presidency, the Leftmedia’s reporting has been exposed for being nothing more than propaganda for the Democrat Party. You might call it fake news. NBC News reports, “Intelligence officials say that [the report of Russians seeking to help Trump’s reelection] was an overstatement, fueled, they believe, by a misinterpretation by some Democratic lawmakers on the committee.” In other words, it looks like yet another episode of the scumbag/liar-Schiff Show, as Hollywood wannabe scumbag/liar-Adam Schiff has pawned off another of his fictitious scripts as more “evidence” in support of the Democrats’ long-debunked Russia-collusion hoax.

Democrats still haven’t come to grips with the fact that Trump won the 2016 election fair and square. And their refusal to admit this reality and learn from it has led Democrats to the disastrous field of current presidential candidates over which they are now panicking. It’s easier to blame the Russians for supposedly “poisoning” Americans’ minds against their economy-killing, Liberty-destroying, big-government policy proposals than to acknowledge the fact that Americans simply don’t want what they’re selling. They still refuse to accept that Trump stands as the American people’s repudiation of their elitist, top-down, control-everything agenda.

The US Must Not Be Dragged

Into Turkey’s War In Russia

The Kurds were obviously not a match for Turkey’s military machine, lubricated by all the top American technology that the NATO member was able to secure... but now the Islamist butchers are up against the Russians and their allies who also want control of Syria. The last time Russia went up against Turkey, Putin backed off. This time though, Russia has nothing to lose by letting Turkey discover its own Vietnam in Syria. So Erdogan, Turkey’s brutal Islamist tyrant is, predictably, trying to drag Europe and the US in this via NATO. His best weapon is the refugee crisis and he’s once again announcing that Turkey will reopen the migrant spigot into Europe. That’s less of a threat to America, but a potent one to Germany, France, and the UK. But, NATO or not, Erdogan must not be allowed to use the US to carve out an empire in Syria. If he wants to rebuild the Caliphate, he should use the treasure of Turkey’s failing economy to do it. Unfortunately, Erdogan has spent a lot of money on lobbyists, and they’ve developed a good deal of influence by buying some unlikely folks. Their influence should be called out, condemned, and resisted. The failure to do so in the past has been unfortunate...

He described how the president asked him whether he was likely to face a second impeachment challenge. “We need to get the House back,” he said. “People ask me all the time. … The president asked me: 'Do you think I’ll be impeached again?' “I said, ‘I don’t know, you tell me who’s in charge of the House after the 2020 elections. If it’s liar-Nancy Pelosi, the answer’s sure, why not? But if it’s Kevin McCarthy and the Republicans, we’re going to have a really good couple of years.’” Among the priorities for a second term, he said, were making permanent some of the temporary measures in the president’s 2017 tax overhaul and reducing corporate tax rates. And he said he wanted to press ahead with civil service reform. “I really tried to get people to sink their teeth into it in the first term, but it’s not sexy,” he said. "But I think now after almost four years of the first term of this president, people are starting to realize there is something that’s there, that no one wants to talk about. … We call it the ‘deep state.’” The aim, he said, was to ensure that civil servants carried out their duties without bias. “You want bureaucrats who work just as hard for Donald Trump as they did for Barack scumbag/liar-nObama,” he said. “That’s only fair. Mark Alexander Demo House Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) declared Thursday, “Lives are at stake. This is not a time for name-calling or playing politics.” But that is all liar-Pelosi and Sen. Chuck scumbag-Schumer (D-NY) have been doing, nonstop, for the last week. They have a sordid and disgraceful history of politicizing suffering and death.

liar-Pelosi claimed that the Trump administration’s request for $2.5 billion in funding was “long overdue and completely inadequate,” adding that she doesn’t “think the president knows what he’s talking about.” scumbag-Schumer picked up on liar-Pelosi’s viral political play, declaring that Trump is “asleep at the wheel,” dismissing the administration’s response as “too little too late,” and asserting it is “indicative of his towering and dangerous incompetence.”

Regarding liar-Pelosi’s political play, Trump stated the obvious: “She’s trying to create a panic. … She should be saying we have to work together. We should all be working together.” And regarding the liar-Pelosi/scumbag-Schumer claims that the administration’s proposed funding is not sufficient, Trump responded that the House is responsible for budget allocations and can allocate what it wants.

But, as I noted yesterday in “The Politics of a ‘Fear Pandemic’,” beyond the Beltway banter, the coronavirus fear Democrat Party leaders and their Leftmedia publicists are fomenting is having dire consequences on economic stability, greatly exacerbating the challenges of disrupted economic supply lines between China and the U.S.

The “pandemic of financial fear” resulting in the 10% drop in equity-market values this week could by week’s end be the biggest loss in any week since the 2008 financial crisis. On Thursday, the Dow had its worst one-day point drop in history (-1,191).

The significance of the market drop runs far deeper than the impact on investments and retirement plans of American workers. The financial markets are the most immediate and visceral indicators of business and consumer confidence, and that combined confidence largely influences the direction of the economy.

Two years ago in my column “Will Democrats Get the Pre-Election Recession They Want?” I noted, “More than half of Americans own stocks and other types of investments, including their homes, the values of which are dependent on a strong economy. More than one-third of corporate stock value is held in lower- and middle-income Americans’ retirement plans, such as IRAs and 401(k) accounts.”

I concluded then, “Democrats will do everything they can to set up the pre-election recession they need to defeat Trump. They know the best way to achieve that goal is to undermine confidence in our economy, a model they perfected ahead of Barack scumbag/liar-nObama’s 2008 election. … The consequence of the Demos’ political games: Caught in the political crossfire are tens of millions of American workers and their families, whose jobs and income prospects will fall victim to the Demos’ politically induced recession — the direct result of having thrown economic confidence under the bus in order to attack Trump.”

And here we go again. The liar-Pelosi/scumbag-Schumer “viral panic” narrative is undermining consumer and business confidence. They are playing fast and loose with the job stability of all working Americans and their families. liar-Pelosi said, “The market drop is disturbing,” but I can assure you that she and her Democrat ilk are celebrating off camera, knowing that what is bad for American workers is bad for Trump’s reelection prospects.

On Leftmedia partisanship, political analyst Matthew Continetti succinctly notes, “The only predictable fallout of coronavirus? Partisanship.”

According to Continetti: “The pundits are having difficulty settling on a historical analogy for the COVID-19 coronavirus. Will the spread of the disease be President Trump’s Katrina or his financial crisis? Now that it is interested in coronavirus, a familiar pattern will set in. Data will be publicized without the slightest sense of proportion. The most outrageous scenarios will receive the most attention. Speculation will be paraded as fact. And every conceivable negative outcome, from infections to deaths to plunging stock values, from reasonable and warranted travel bans to unanticipated diplomatic and economic fallout, will be related back to the president in an effort to damage his reelection.”

To that end, a New York Times columnist insists, “Let’s Call It Trumpvirus.” And that is exactly what liar-Pelosi and scumbag-Schumer hope will happen.

So, what will all this look like in three months? I think there will be real and significant health consequences in the U.S. — more or less on par with some of the most significant seasonal viral outbreaks, which in bad years have killed more than 60,000 Americans. One of the flu virus strains this season has taken more than 8,000 lives. But those deaths did not provide political fodder for Democrats.

Coronavirus makes it to the East Coast

as Rhode Island announces first case

The Rhode Island Department of Health confirmed the state's first "presumptive positive" case in a patient in his or her 40s, who traveled to Italy in mid-February. "The Rhode Island Department of Health has been preparing for weeks to ensure that we have a structure in place to, to the best of our ability, limit or prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Rhode Island. We fully anticipated having a first case of COVID-19," Dr. Alexander-Scott at the RIDOH said. The patient had limited travel when he or she returned from Italy, which is seeing a surge in coronavirus infections of its own, having confirmed at least 1,000 cases. News of Rhode Island's first case comes just a day after three other cases were confirmed in the United States, making a total of 71 across the country. Newer cases to have appeared in the U.S. in California and Washington were spread among people who had not traveled to affected countries. Still, the majority of patients in the U.S. had returned from countries seeing an uptick in cases. "We are not seeing widespread community transmission in Rhode Island, and the general level of risk for Rhode Islanders is still low," Alexander-Scott said. "However, everyone in Rhode Island has a role to play in helping us prevent the spread of viruses, just like the flu. Canada Refuses to Comply With

Its Own Terror Law

{ clarionproject.org } ~ B’nai Brith Canada is suing the Canadian government for failing to comply with a motion passed by its own parliament to designate Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in its entirety, as a terrorist organization... The motion was passed unanimously in the House of Commons in June 2018. At a news conference in January, leaders of B’nai Brith, the Council of Iranian Canadians and the Justice 88 Campaign put the government on notice that they expected the motion to be implemented within 30 days. In the meantime, the IRGC was responsible for downing a commercial airliner flying out of Iran last month, killing all passengers including 57 Canadians who were on board. Lies and deceit followed the crash. Still no movement from the Canadian government, save the embarrassing bow and handshake Prime Minister Justin Trudeau bestowed upon Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at a recent conference in Europe. Meanwhile, The Globe and Mail just reported that Iran is making overtures to Ottawa asking to renew diplomatic ties. The outreach was made by none other than Zarif himself shortly following the Trudeau handshake. Zarif did not suggest reopening the embassy which has been closed since 2012, but rather taking smaller steps – such as, opening “Interest sections” in embassies of other countries. Herein lies a serious problem for Canada. Word on the street is that these “interest sections” are where many of the subversive activities of the Iranian regime take place. We know that the IRGC has already made inroads into Canada and infiltrated its corridors of power, which has been pointed out by many Canadian activists and dissidents who are appalled by the prime minister’s handshake with Zarif. In the words of Michael Mostyn, chief executive officer of B’nai Brith Canada, who announced the lawsuit against the Canadian government, “The IRGC poses a very serious security threat to Canadians. Listing it as a terrorist entity in this country is necessary to deter this threat and reduce its ability to do harm.” On the question of whether the IRGC is a terrorist organization, one only has to glance at their activities outside of Iran. B’nai Brith reports, “The IRGC is tasked with protecting Iran’s brutal Islamist dictatorship and supporting its international terrorist proxies. Its principle objective is to fuel and fund terrorism. They know this could mean losing to President Donald Trump in November, but the alternative—putting a self-proclaimed socialist on the top of the ticket—would be just as bad. Many delegates are expecting a brokered convention, the Times reported. This scenario could occur if commie-Sanders entered into the convention with a plurality of delegates, but not an outright majority. In that case, many delegates have said they would buck commie-Sanders completely and give their vote to someone else. Only nine of the 93 super-delegates the Times spoke with said commie-Sanders should become the Democratic nominee, even if he only wins a plurality. At least one DNC member floated the idea of nominating former First Lady Michelle scumbag/liar-nObama instead of commie-Sanders. “She’s the only person I can think of who can unify the party and help us win,” delegate William Owen of Tennessee said. “This election is about saving the American experiment as a republic. It’s also about saving the world. Coronavirus: When All Else Fails, Try Reason

Looking at the best information available to me, I find it beyond question that the President has taken the right steps to deal with this variant flu; that few people in this country will perish from it; that while there may be some economic consequences of the supply disruption from China, the fact that we’ve been decoupling ourselves from China under this administration means they are likely to be smaller and more short-lived than the market manipulators would have us believe. 1. What is the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and How Does it Compare to the Flu? The most informative reports I can find on this are from Johns Hopkins Medicine, the New England Journal of Medicine, and the Director of the CDC. One of the difficulties of diagnosing those stricken with this novel virus is the symptoms are very similar to those of the other more common infectious respiratory illnesses we call flu. We have a vaccine to prevent some of the most dangerous types of flu or to reduce its severity. Right now, there is no vaccine to treat the new virus. But Israeli researchers believe they will have one in weeks. Of course, it will be longer than weeks to bring it to market, but if it proves effective this virus, which is likely to be around the world for a long time will prove even less lethal than it presently is. Does the Johns Hopkins report seem to belie the scare reports from the CDC earlier? Yes, it does, and even the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has walked back the original message. CDC Director Robert Redfield this week said CDC official Nancy Messonier, sister of Rod Rosenstein misspoke when she said an epidemic outbreak of COVID-19 in this country was inevitable. Redfield’s clarification is in accord with an editorial last week in the New England Journal of Medicine, which speculated that this virus “Could turn out no worse than a ‘severe seasonal influenza’ in terms of mortality.” 2. Anytime I think the left’s hate can’t get any worse, I am proven wrong. The left and its media allies are now doing everything possible to exploit the coronoavirus. They are attempting to stoke panic and they are promoting the baseless narrative that the president has failed to take appropriate steps.

Senate Democrat Leader Charles scumbag-Schumer kicked off the attack Tuesday on the Senate floor. He declared that the administration had been “caught flat-footed” with “no plan to deal with the coronavirus” and “seemingly no urgency to develop one.”

I have no idea what alternative reality scumbag-Schumer is living in. Here are the facts:

Out of 80,000 confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide, 77,000 are in China.
The White House announced two days ago that it is seeking $2.5 billion in emergency spending to deal with the coronavirus.
Last month, the administration declared a national health emergency. It suspended flights to China and barred any foreign national who had traveled through China from entering the U.S.
It is nothing short of a miracle that while countries like Italy, Japan, and South Korea are dealing with major outbreaks, we are not.
The U.S. is more connected to the world than most other countries. America is a major tourist destination. The swift action of the Department of Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has resulted in a total of 57 people that we know of having virus inside the U.S.
Forty-three of those cases were American citizens brought home from the infected cruise ship in Japan. But that’s just 57 people in a country of 330 million.

Is it likely to remain 57 people? Of course not. It seems that the coronavirus is like a flu on steroids. Imagine trying to prevent the yearly flu from arriving here. We’d have to build a wall around the entire country and ban all ships and planes, shutting down all travel. In short, it would be virtually impossible.

We will have more cases of coronavirus. We have excellent healthcare and medical research institutions. So I am reasonably optimistic that we will be able to limit the impact. But we don’t know for sure.

Of course, everyone is hoping we will limit this. Whoops. I have to correct that.

Unfortunately, I have no doubt that many in the fevered swamps of the left — the same folks who tried to blame George W. Bush for Hurricane Katrina and Trump for the devastation Hurricane Maria caused in Puerto Rico — are hoping for the worst now. That is beyond disgusting.

And here’s a final point to keep mind: It wasn’t that long ago when the left accused President Trump of being a racist for trying to stop hundreds of thousands of people from crossing our southern border, including many who were sick and a surge of Chinese nationals. If anyone is to blame for leaving our country exposed, it is the radical left.

Don’t Panic

Tuesday, CDC officials held another briefing. They said that they were taking all necessary precautions but added that while the risk remains low, the spread of coronavirus in the U.S. was “inevitable.”

The talking heads on CNBC reacted by setting their hair on fire. The financial markets crashed again. There is no reason for this panic.

Debate Disaster

By all accounts, Tuesday night’s debate was a disaster for the Democrat Party. Politico interviewed more than a dozen political insiders and experts, and got feedback like this:

“The loser Tuesday was everybody on stage. The Democratic Party. Any hope for sensible, coherent debates.”

“What a mess. It was exhausting.”

“The Charleston debate was … an irritating mess… Any Democrats who watched this debate to make up their minds about whom to vote for might wish there were a category on their ballot labeled ‘None of the These Candidates.’”

“Let’s first establish the debate’s losers, to get it out the way: the CBS moderators.”

“This was not a great night for the Democratic Party. The moderating was not strong; there was a lot of shouting and cross-talk; it was unpleasant to behold.”

“The last Democratic debate before Super Tuesday sounded like a fork caught in a blender — all smashing and crashing noise with no substance at all.”

“That debate was a downer. Nobody won, but somehow all of us at home lost. That’s two hours of our lives we’ll never get back.”

MSNBC's left-wing “Morning Joe” co-hosts agreed, calling the debate a “wreck,” “a mess,” and “a slugfest that spun wildly out of control.”

One final thought: commie-Bernie Sanders got the “front-runner” treatment Tuesday night with every candidate taking shots at him. But the general consensus is that he survived the night and remains the party’s front-runner in spite of doubling down on his defense of communist regimes, which left Van Jones “disappointed.”

Yet while commie-Sanders defended the “good things” done by Cuba and China, he saved his harshest criticism for Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him “a reactionary racist” for keeping his nation safe from radical Islamic terrorism.

Once again, commie-Sanders drew a clear red line for anyone who cares about the U.S.-Israel alliance.

The world knows that under the leadership of President Trump and Vice President Pence, the United States stands shoulder to shoulder with Israel. Under “President commie-Sanders,” Israel’s enemies would be emboldened and the Jewish state would be in grave danger.

The debate over testing has taken on added urgency as the number of cases worldwide has climbed past 82,000, including over 2,800 reported deaths, with cases now present on every continent and dozens of countries. BATM said in a statement that its test’s ability to successfully screen those carrying COVID-19 had been verified by several labs and hospitals, and that customers in several countries had expressed interest. It did not provide details. It said the test met criteria set out by the US-based Centers of Disease Control and that it was working with European research institutions to develop “a price point suitable for large scale production.” The company’s stock rose 16.4% on the London Stock Exchange and 9.3% in Tel Aviv’s boursa Thursday, making it one of the few winners on an otherwise brutal day on the trading floor. CDC declined to test new coronavirus patient

for days, California hospital says

UC Davis Medical Center wrote in a memo to staff that the patient was transferred from another hospital on Feb. 19 with a suspected viral infection. The hospital requested coronavirus testing, but the CDC initially declined because the patient, who had not recently traveled to countries with outbreaks or been in contact with someone with the virus, did not meet the testing criteria. It was not until Sunday that the CDC agreed to do a test, and the results then came back on Wednesday as positive. Officials said the case could mark a turning point as the first case of the virus spreading among the general public in the United States, because there is no known origin for it. “Upon admission, our team asked public health officials if this case could be COVID-19,” the UC Davis Medical Center said in a statement, referring to coronavirus. “We requested COVID-19 testing by the CDC, since neither Sacramento County nor California Department of Public Health is doing testing for coronavirus at this time.” “Since the patient did not fit the existing CDC criteria for COVID-19, a test was not immediately administered,” the statement added. “UC Davis Health does not control the testing process.” In a statement on Thursday afternoon, the CDC said it is concerned by the reports but said their records showed the CDC only learned of the case on Sunday, and requested specimens for testing that same day." It is important to note that not all liberals were elated by the news, but many were, and the announcement he made Thursday is definitely not music to their ears. “I get treated every day. I get treated every day at 1 p.m., folks, within a five-minute window here at the top of the hour, 1 p.m., and then again at 11 p.m. Every day. And then four times a week I have to do something else, which I’m not gonna describe and I’m not gonna explain or any of that,” Limbaugh said in an update on his website. “But it’s ongoing. It’s been two weeks now. It’s not enough time to know anything, although I’m extremely optimistic about it for a host of reasons, not the least of which — and I mean this from the bottom of my heart — is all of you. “I believe God is good. I believe that there is good in everything that happens. “Let me give you an example of that. It’s not good for me that I have contracted this. But there’s good in it. There’s good in it maybe for other people who might be inspired to change their life, so they don’t get it or whatever — there’s good in everything, if you just look for it. And ultimately there’s gonna be good in it for me. It already has been good for me.” He thanked his audience for the kindness they have shown him and said that he continues to stay positive. But Limbaugh said he will not be issuing daily reports on his condition or his treatment because he does not want it to be the focal point of the show. “I will tell you that there have been two days this week I got up, I said, ‘Gosh, I can’t do it.’ I’ve tried to, you know, not artificially push myself here every day as a sign of toughness. I’ve tried to push myself every day here because this is what I love doing. This is my natural, normal, happy state and place. “But there have been a couple days this week when I got up and said, ‘Oh, I can’t do it today.’ But I pushed through. And once I got here and got started, it was a long three hours of show prep, jeez, I could barely stay awake, I was all kinds of stuff.” Still, he said, it is the love of his country and the prayers and dedication of his fans that help get him out of bed and to the studio. “The program starts, the microphone goes on, and magic happens. And in about 20 minutes, when this is over, I’m gonna decompress like you can’t believe. I don’t know what it is,” Limbaugh said. “And there are gonna be days where I’m gonna cave to it and not be here, and when those days happen, just chalk it up to the fact that it’s fatigue because that’s the primary thing that I have to deal with,” he said. The Russians are Coming (Again)

The Russians are like the devil. Each gets blamed (or credited) with more than they are responsible for.

Intelligence officials recently went to Capitol Hill where, according to The Hill, “they briefed the House Intelligence Committee about Russia interfering in the presidential race in an effort to get Trump re-elected.” The initial presumption was that Russian President Vladimir Putin favors Trump’s re-election. Why would he when he has someone more closely associated with his ideology than Trump? That would be the self-described Democratic Socialist, Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

But wait. Following closely on this unspecific leak to (where else?) The New York Times, we now hear that Russia wants commie-Sanders as the next president. Perhaps it’s out of gratitude because he and his wife honeymooned in the Soviet Union. Ah, nostalgia.

The intelligence briefing was classified, but as with charges that Russia meddled in the 2016 election, no details have emerged that prove the Russian “collusion” narrative. Other than disinformation campaigns on social media (and plenty of disinformation has and will continue to be generated here at home through mainstream media) we have still not heard any specifics on how Russia managed to change a single vote in 2016, or how they supposedly intend to do so this time around. Upon hearing of the intelligence briefing, Putin’s press secretary told Russian state-run media, “This is another in a series of paranoid reports, and we regret to say that their number will grow as the election approaches. They certainly have nothing to do with the truth.”

The reason Democrats are again raising the prospect of Russian interference is to undermine the credibility of this year’s election should Trump win again, as seems increasingly likely. Democrats have been unable to stomach, not only his 2016 election, but also his economic successes. They fear their party will lose what remaining but dwindling appeal it might still enjoy. That’s why in the debates among Democratic presidential candidates one hears of an America that isn’t recognizable to most citizens. For them, America is a bad country, a place of racism, sexism, inequality and misery only they can fix, though previous Democratic presidents who have made similar diagnoses of America’s “faults” have done nothing to repair the damage to which they have arguably contributed. Trump appears to have stolen their issues and they have no fallback position.

As for the credibility of American intelligence, consider their record during George W. Bush’s administration, beginning with weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, which were never found, resulting in the deaths of many in the unnecessary war that followed.

This Russian interference claim seems like a setup and an invitation for the House to conduct even more investigations and possibly new articles of impeachment after the election, assuming Democrats maintain their House majority. A recent Gallup poll shows record high approval (49 percent) of the president’s policies. Forty-three percent of independents polled now support the president — the highest percentage during Trump’s entire presidency. We’ll see if that translates into Republican victories in races for the Senate and House.

According to Gallup, “The latest survey finds a further increase in national satisfaction, with 45 percent now satisfied, the highest since February 2005.”

Democrats have always needed a boogeyman to run against. Recall “The Gingrich who stole Christmas” line disparaging then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich on a Time magazine cover in the 1990s. Democrats have also demagogued Republicans for not helping the poor and for being racist. That is a harder sell with the African-American unemployment rate at record lows and wages rising for virtually all groups. According to the Census Bureau, the poverty level is as low as its been in 11 years.

Russia has become the default boogeyman of the left. That is what makes commie-Bernie Sanders the ideal candidate for Russia and the other socialist-communist states he has praised, because in his heart he is at one with them. ~The Patriot Post

The hospital, located east of Tel Aviv, is Israel's largest medical facility and cares for approximately 1.6 million people annually. The hospital is also home to more than one-quarter of all Israeli clinical research. The weekly magazine cited the hospital's collaborations with biotech and pharmaceutical companies worldwide to develop new drugs and treatments, in addition to research specialities including cardiology, cancer, brain diseases and genetics. The Rochester-based Mayo Clinic led the global rankings for a second year, followed by Cleveland Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital. Tel Aviv's Sourasky Medical Center, also known as Ichilov Hospital, was named the world's 34th leading hospital. Tens of thousands of medical professionals were invited to participate in the survey ranking the world's best hospitals, which also took into account results from patient surveys and other medical performance indicators. Other leading hospitals included Toronto General Hospital, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Johns Hopkins Hospital, University Hospital Zurich and Singapore General Hospital. Two Syrian war planes downed

as Turkey begins operation against Assad

{ jpost.com } ~ Two Syrian fighter jets were downed by Turkish fighter jets on Sunday in Syria's northwestern Idlib province... as Turkey began a wide-scale military operation against the Assad regime in response to last week's killing of 34 Turkish soldiers, according to Syria's SANA state news agency. The two Syrian pilots managed to deploy their parachutes and land safely, according to the Syrian military. SANA reported earlier on Sunday that the Syrian army had downed a Turkish drone over the town of Saraqeb in the Idlib region of northwest Syria. Turkish Defense Minister Şule Akar announced the operation, named Operation Spring Shield, vowing retaliation against any attack on Turkish forces or observation posts in Idlib under Turkey's right to self-defense. "Some 2,200 Syrian regime troops, a drone, eight helicopters, 103 tanks, tens of howitzers, and three air defense systems were neutralized," Akar said of the newly announced operation. "We do not aim to face off with Russia. Our only aim is to stop the Syrian regime's massacres, radicalization and migration," he added. Akar continued his plea for Russian assistance, saying that "Turkey expects Russia to use its influence to bring an end to the Syrian regime's attacks, and its withdrawal to the Sochi-deal borders." Earlier, Syria's army declared the airspace over northwest Syria closed to planes and drones, pledging to down any aircraft that violates it, state media said on Sunday, shortly before reports of the downed drone began surfacing. Challenging this distortion remains a priority in Western countries. Fortunately, as recent events within Britain's Labour Party have shown, many constituents are rejecting the overt antisemitism and anti-Israel extremism of the groups who have often underhandedly taken control of their party. It increasingly seems as if one source of antisemitism -- as shown by more than one survey in Europe and in the United States -- is that there often seems to be widespread antisemitism within Muslim communities. Islamic hatred of Jews is deeply rooted. It can be seen in the later verses of the Qur'an, in Muhammad's expulsions, mass executions, and enslavement of the Jews of Medina, or in the attack on Jews in the oasis of Khaybar. Islamic antisemitism continued to have a largely negative impact on Jews living under Muslim rule in the Middle East, North Africa and parts of Europe down the centuries. Sometimes Jews were treated better than they were in Christian countries, for instance during the Inquisition; at other times, there were massacres; but in all instances, Jews suffered a variety of humiliations as second-class "dhimmis": people with a scripture who were due protection by Muslims but demeaned for their failure to recognize the prophet Muhammad as the true Messiah...

Seven Israelis have tested

The seventh Israeli is Roni Bargill from Migdal HaEmek, who posted on Facebook over the weekend that he had returned from Italy last Saturday and was told by health officials that he could continue his routine as usual. Then, on Thursday, he was instructed to enter isolation, but by then he had come in contact with many people. “I apologize in advance for any harm I caused anyone,” he wrote on Facebook. “It was obviously done without my knowledge.” The Health Ministry over the weekend released an emergency report of Bargill’s whereabouts, which include his local Shufersal and a restaurant in Afula. Israelis who suspect they might have coronavirus should call the Magen David Adom hotline for consultation. Israelis who have thus far been diagnosed with the virus have entered isolation at Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, including Bargill. The seven Israelis are as follows: Three who returned from Italy last week have tested positive for the virus, plus one of their spouses. In addition, there were two Israelis who returned under close supervision from the Diamond Princess cruise ship, who were diagnosed with COVID-19 while they were already in isolation at Sheba. In addition, an Israeli who contracted the virus while aboard the ship, and was treated in Japan and then released to Israel on Friday, tested positive upon arrival in the country...

From that, they now know that the disease, also known as The Plague, which killed about 100 million, came from China 2000 years ago... Several scientists wrote about it in the medical journal Nature Genetics as they study plague pandemics from the Black Death to the late 1800s. The Black Death was caused by a bacterium called Yersinia pestis. It was one of the deadliest and most widespread in history and peaked in Europe between 1348 and 1350. It reached Crimea in 1346 and probably spread via fleas on black rats travelling on merchant ships. From there it hit the Mediterranean and Europe. It destroyed between 30% to 60% of Europe’s population. The Plague took 150 years for Europe to recover its population size. It came back until the 19th century when it left Europe forever. Victims died within 2-7 days after the infection appeared. It evolved around China over 2000 years ago and spread several times as deadly pandemics. Scientists compared genome sequences, 933 variable DNA sites of plague isolates from around the world, and were able to trace their path as they worked out the age of them. The Yersinia pestis is seriously restricted and it’s not easy assembling a collection, but a team from around the world were able to assemble a collection. Pandemics have always been and they have shaped civilizations. About 50% of China’s population perished. It spread with Chinese travelers. Peace in Afghanistan? We'll See

Charles Paige Note from the author: I served four years in Afghanistan over the course of several deployments and several more years preparing myself and others for deployments by studying Afghan history, language, and culture, as well as reams of lessons learned from unsuccessful British, Soviet, and — thus far at least — American efforts to tame South Asia. I don’t consider myself an expert by any means, but I believe that experience makes me at least as qualified to comment on the news and rumors surrounding peace talks with the Taliban as some of the pundits who have saturated the Web with articles that range from praising President Donald Trump for leading boldly and fulfilling his campaign promise to end “forever wars” to describing our efforts in Afghanistan as “America’s greatest strategic disaster.” While articles like those satisfy readers’ demand for decisive and definitive assessments, foreign policy in general — and Afghanistan in particular — doesn’t lend itself to binary and linear conclusions. It’s shades of grey, not black and white.

At the risk of being indecisive and indefinite, the honest answer to whether the agreements that have reportedly been reached between the U.S. and the Taliban are a win for the U.S. is probably “we’ll see.” But that’s not a very satisfying — or politically advantageous — piece of ground to claim. Unfortunately, our foreign policy decision makers’ (over)confidence that they actually see their options and potential outcomes in black and white is a primary contributor to the forever wars. Our diplomats and soldier-statesmen have heard how excellent they are for so long that it’s understandable that they may overestimate their ability to resolve “wicked problems” like those posed by the Graveyard of Empires. That’s not to say that our military and diplomatic leaders and decision makers aren’t better than everyone else’s, just that even the best may not be good enough for a problem set like Afghanistan, particularly given the wrinkles caused by political priorities that change every few years.

With so little to show for the thousands of casualties sustained and billions of dollars spent, why should we keep muddling along trying to find a solution for what may well be an unsolvable problem? Why not just sign the peace deal — any peace deal — walk away and call it good?

For one, although it hasn’t lived up to the promises, we have made progress: Afghan security organizations are larger and more capable than ever; a generation of bureaucrats and technocrats have come up through the ranks of ministries and businesses and have seen and largely bought in to an Afghan version of “what right looks like”; Afghan families have grown accustomed to more liberties and a generally higher quality of life than they enjoyed under the Taliban and aren’t anxious to go back. Given the foundation that has been laid, an enduring Taliban-supported reduction in violence would give the government and people the breathing space they need to cement the progress and keep building. Walking away before we’re sure the mortar has set risks everything coming back down in an ugly crash.

Second, to paraphrase the investing disclaimer, future results aren’t automatically going to track with past performance. Just because the return on our investment over the last dozen or so years has been undermined by bad policies and decisions (with a healthy dose of hubris mixed in) doesn’t mean that we have to keep following that trend line. We need to be realistic and pragmatic about what’s within the realm of the possible — minimize, not eliminate corruption; professional and “Afghan good enough” security services, not scaled down versions of the NYPD or British Army — and translate that into clear objectives. Four more years of a Trump administration would provide much needed stability with respect to the mission and objectives. That stability in turn, would also make it easier to accurately assess future results.

Peace is good thing, as are treaties that foster and ensure it. But we need to remember that it comes at a price. Some of the price has already been paid; some of it won’t come to light until years or decades later. As we negotiate, we can’t let the fact that we have already made an enormous investment lead us to an all-in-with-the-Taliban bet that comes with a big (and TBD) “after the sale” sticker. The people who have borne the brunt of the up-front investment deserve better than simply signing something in order to be able to check a box that a campaign promise was met or to have their efforts tarred with a label like “America’s greatest strategic disaster.” But at this point in the negotiations, the most honest prediction that even a relatively experienced Afghanistan watcher can probably offer is, “we’ll see…”

It includes regulatory energy-efficiency mandates, subsidies for specific energy technologies fossil, renewable, and nuclear, increased government intervention in energy markets masked as federal research and development, expanded loan guarantees, public-private partnerships where taxpayer resources don’t belong, and taxpayer-funded job-training programs. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 extended economic privilege to favored energy technologies, erected barriers to entry for those that didn’t receive them, and wasted taxpayer resources in the process. These interventionist policies put Congress and Department of Energy bureaucrats—rather than investors and customers—in the position of narrowing the field of competition between the many energy technologies being perfected in the U.S. right now to win customers. A Big Win Against 'Sanctuary' States

Thomas Gallatin President Donald Trump got a big immigration win on Wednesday when the Second Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the Justice Department’s decision to condition Byrne Program federal grants to states upon the requirement that they cooperate with federal immigration law. The ruling came after New York, which declared itself an illegal-alien “sanctuary” state in 2017, entered a lawsuit with several other sanctuary jurisdictions against the Trump administration for withholding the grant funding. Under its “sanctuary” policy, New York refuses to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, specifically regarding honoring ICE retainer requests for criminal aliens.

Second Circuit Judge Reena Raggi recognized that other circuit courts had ruled in favor of “sanctuary” states. But in the decision she argued that based upon the plain reading of the law, “we cannot agree that the federal government must be enjoined from imposing the challenged conditions on the federal grants at issue.” She explained, “These conditions help the federal government enforce national immigration laws and policies supported by successive Democratic and Republican administrations. But more to the authorization point, they ensure that applicants satisfy particular statutory grant requirements imposed by Congress and subject to Attorney General oversight.” Raggi also cogently observed that a “state may not pursue policies that undermine federal law.”

This split between the courts will likely result in the Supreme Court weighing in on the issue. This is good news for both the Trump administration and the American people, as SCOTUS has more often than not sided with the Trump administration on cases concerning immigration enforcement. Furthermore, the Second Circuit’s appeal to the “plain language of the relevant statutes” for its decision provides the most compelling argument yet in support of the Trump administration’s position.

The court victories for Trump regarding his administration’s immigration enforcement have been rare but significant, as his administration has slowly but steadily worked to overcome Democrats’ resistance to his enforcement policies. And the administration has recently ramped up its efforts against leftist state governments that have been undercutting federal law enforcement. Just two weeks ago, Attorney General William Barr announced new sanctions in what he is calling a “significant escalation” to combat lawless sanctuary cities. ~The Patriot Post

How do we measure the damage Bill Barr is inflicting on the independence, integrity and reputation of the Department of Justice? We can’t.”

Jerry Nadler and his clown car of Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee picked up on Schiff’s hint.

They immediately demanded Barr testify about all the made up “scandals” Democrats invented that he was supposedly involved in.

“In your tenure as Attorney General, you have engaged in a pattern of conduct in legal matters relating to the President that raises significant concerns for this Committee,” the Democrats wrote.

But Democrats are in trouble.

And that’s because Attorney General Barr called their bluff.

The Attorney General will testify on March 31 and Barr is heading into the hearing with an ace up his sleeve.

That’s because Jonathan Kravis – who resigned from the case in an attempt to become a martyr in the fake news media and Washington swamp – was one of the lead prosecutors on the Stone case.

Kravis is a comic book supervillain version of a Deep State prosecutor.

In previous cases, Kravis – who is a former Obama lawyer that transitioned to the Department of Justice to carry out what critics claim is a vendetta against Republicans – violated attorney-client privilege and even had charges thrown out of court after a judge learned Kravis violated a deal defendants made with prosecutors to cooperate in an investigation in what is known as a “proffer session” so long as the statements they made were not used against them in court.

Barr is walking into what the Democrats think is a trap.

But Barr enters that hostile arena with the knowledge of the true intentions and motivations of the Deep State goon squad that prosecuted Roger Stone.

Climate Change is Not Decimating Bees

The false alarm is based on a February 7 study published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The study, however, is deeply flawed and does not change the very low likelihood of climate change seriously impacting bee populations. After examining the study, titled “Climate change contributes to widespread declines among bumble bees across continents” -- one immediately notices that there is a key issue missing that is not discussed in the paper at all: Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). In non-scientific jargon, CCD occurs when entire hives suddenly experience population crashes. CCD has been called the honeybee’s biggest enemy by scientific researchers. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says: “There have been many theories about the cause of CCD, but the researchers who are leading the effort to find out why are now focused on these factors: Increased losses due to the invasive varroa mite a pest of honeybees. New or emerging diseases such as Israeli Acute Paralysis virus and the gut parasite Nosema. Pesticide poisoning through exposure to pesticides applied to crops or for in-hive insect or mite control. Stress bees experience due to management practices such as transportation to multiple locations across the country for providing pollination services. Changes to the habitat where bees forage. Inadequate forage/poor nutrition. Potential immune-suppressing stress on bees caused by one or a combination of factors identified above.” Needless to say, the many causes of CCD identified above don’t get a single mention in this new study, which cites climate change as the overwhelming “cause” of declining bee populations. The study’s methods are quite dubious. The public option is not an easy fix for health care

All of the leading competitors to commie-Bernie Sanders, who remains unyielding in his commitment to single-payer health care, have embraced some version of what socialist-Pete Buttigieg calls “Medicare for all who want it.” In general terms, with a public option, the federal government would run its own health plan in competition with private insurance. But for political and practical reasons, starting up a new public insurance plan is easier said than done. Recent efforts to establish public-option plans on a small scale — in Washington State and Colorado — demonstrate some of the challenges of trying to create a nationwide public offering. In both states, officials were forced to scale back their ambitions because of financial concerns and industry opposition. They retreated from creating genuine public option plans — administered by the government — and chose instead to contract with existing private insurers to run “state-directed” offerings. Leveraging existing private plans avoids the expense and financial risk of replicating the functions of commercial insurance within a state bureaucracy. Mr. socialist-Buttigieg and other candidates associate their public option proposals with Medicare, but those plans would likely have little to do with the actual program — with good reason. The Medicare benefit falls short of what the candidates want to offer to voters. For instance, Medicare beneficiaries are not protected against catastrophic costs. They are not automatically covered for prescription drugs. And Medicare requires beneficiaries to pay substantial sums out of pocket for hospital admissions and other care. A public option would operate alongside existing private plans, with consumers deciding which offering is best for them. That requires fair competition, with the public option subject to the same rules as private insurance. The court's landmark ruling effectively smashes a backdoor effort to enshrine Sharia law into the German legal system. The case involves a 38-year-old German-Moroccan law student who was born in Frankfurt and customarily wears a headscarf in public. In January 2017, she began legal training in the German state of Hesse, where the law bans any expression of religion in its courtrooms for judges, lawyers and legal trainees. According to the law, legal trainees (rechtsreferendar) are allowed to wear a headscarf — except when they are performing certain official tasks in which they serve as representatives of the judiciary or the state. This means, for instance, that trainee lawyers are not allowed to wear a headscarf when presiding over a hearing, taking evidence or representing the public prosecution office. The complainant filed a lawsuit claiming that the headscarf ban interfered with her right to freedom of religion. She argued that she was being forced to choose between performing the intended tasks or fulfilling a religious clothing requirement that she considers imperative. allocate additional DOD funds for border wall

"The president is doubling down on his unlawful scheme to raid taxpayer funds for a xenophobic campaign promise that is destroying national treasures, harming the environment, and desecrating tribal lands,” said Dror Ladin, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The ACLU, along with the Sierra Club and Southern Border Communities Coalition (SBCC), filed the suit in federal court in California on Friday. DOD notified Congress this month that it would transfer an additional $3.8 billion to be used for the wall. The notice to Congress said that the money would come from weapons programs like the F-35 fighter jet and would go toward the “support of higher priority items.” It said the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) “has identified areas along the southern border of the United States that are being used by individuals, groups, and transnational criminal organizations as drug smuggling corridors, and determined that the construction of additional physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the United States border is necessary in order to impede and deny drug smuggling activities.” The new lawsuit claims that the administration has "acted to circumvent Congress’s exclusive control over appropriations" and that its action "will have devastating effects on the environment." "The Trump administration’s illegal transfer of billions of dollars for wall construction has created a disaster in the borderlands,” said Sierra Club managing attorney Gloria Smith in a statement. “The destruction of cultural sites, Tribal burial grounds, endangered species, protected cacti and water resources shows that Trump will stop at nothing for this wall — not irreplaceable resources nor the Constitution," Smith added. The Politics of a 'Fear Pandemic'

Mark Alexander Democrat Party leaders Sen. Chuck scumbag-Schumer and Rep. liar-Nancy Pelosi are in a quandary. They have to decide which of the headline tragedies today make for better political fodder — do they keep feeding the coronavirus fears, or do they put that on pause and politicize the Milwaukee murders in order to advance their gun-confiscation agenda?

Yes, their political modus operandi is just that causticly crass.

It follows the model perfected by Barack scumbag/liar-nObama and his then-chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, who openly declared, “You don’t ever want a good crisis to go to waste; it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” And that is exactly what they did in 2008, when scumbag/liar-nObama used a pandemic of financial fear as his ticket to the presidency. At the time, even Bill scumbag/liar-Clinton admitted that the Democrats were responsible for that crisis because they resisted “efforts by Republicans in the Congress … to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.” scumbag/liar-Clinton himself had loosened up those standards 10 years earlier, with disastrous financial consequences but fortuitous political consequences.

My point is not to relitigate how the Democrats used that “fear pandemic” to ensure scumbag/liar-nObama’s election but to say they are experts at converting tragedy into political triumph. Their current “Hate Trump” platform is constructed on their perennial political foundation of fear, anger, and division.

At this point in the 2020 election cycle, Democrats are scrambling for any “opportunity to do things you think you could not do before” to enable them defeat Donald Trump, especially if they can’t dispense with Bernie Sanders. COVID-19, the scientific term for coronavirus, is providing them an election-year crisis that they won’t let go to waste, especially if it becomes a significant domestic health threat. They see the potential to convert coronavirus into Trump’s “Hurricane Katrina.”

In January, I wrote a comprehensive analysis, “The Flu and You,” putting the potential for a COVID-19 flu pandemic into perspective and offering helpful links on preparedness and response. At that time, the Trump administration was taking significant steps to prevent a viral spread in the U.S.

Monday of this week, reflecting concern about the economic impact of coronavirus, there was a 3.5% equities-market selloff — a bellwether indicator of economic concerns. For the record, there are other factors – equities are likely due a 10-15% correction, and the possibility that commie-Bernie Sanders could somehow win the 2020 presidential election is cause for a lot of concern among businesses and consumers. Responding to the selloff, Nate Jackson provided an update on COVID-19, noting how scumbag-Schumer and liar-Pelosi had their coronavirus crisis/fear machine at full throttle. liar-Pelosi claims the Trump administration’s request for $2.5 billion in funding was “long overdue and completely inadequate.” scumbag-Schumer declared that Trump is “asleep at the wheel.”

On Tuesday, Dr. Nancy Messonnier, an official at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), promoted a panic narrative that ran contrary to the Trump administration’s measured concern and effort to encourage calm. Messonnier, who is the sister of former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein (one of the coup co-conspirators), told Leftmedia reporters that the pandemic potential is “bad” and the “disruption to everyday life may be severe.” She declared, “It’s not so much of a question of if this will happen anymore but rather more of a question of exactly when this will happen.”

Let me be clear: Messonnier could be right. COVID-19 is estimated to be much more lethal than the .1% fatality rate of typical flu bugs, which have killed more than 60,000 Americans in a single year.

But her comments were irresponsible and played right into the Demos’ panic narrative — and another market selloff of 3.2%. The selloff continued into Wednesday and is not over. By undermining consumer and business confidence, and thus the equities markets, Democrats are playing politics with the wealth and job stability of all working Americans and their families. Democrats are quietly high-fiving each other in Capitol Hill cloakrooms, knowing that what is bad for America workers is bad for Trump’s reelection prospects.

Messonnier’s dire warnings necessitated an executive press conference Wednesday evening with President Trump and his key administration officials. In that conference, Trump appointed Vice President Mike Pence and Health Secretary Alex Azar to head the White House coronavirus-containment task force. Trump assured the public, “Whatever happens, we’re totally prepared,” adding the infection rates in the U.S. “may get a little bigger, [or] it may not get bigger at all.”

Of note regarding the “reliability” of reports from China’s communist regime, Trump said that China is containing the epidemic: “If you can count on the reports coming out of China, that spread has gone down.”

For his part, Mike Pence outlined the administration’s response thus far and plans moving forward: “[President Trump] declared a public health emergency. He suspended travel to the United States from China. He initiated quarantine efforts for American citizens returning, and he established the White House Coronavirus Task Force, which has literally met every single day. President Trump has directed me to lead a whole of government approach to address the coronavirus in this country. And I promise you: We will continue to bring the full resources of the federal government to bear to protect the American people… We’re all in this together. This is not the time for partisanship. This president will always put the health and safety of America first.”

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke cautiously in front of Taliban leaders in Doha, Qatar, calling the agreement a “true test” of their commitment to peace. “We will closely watch the Taliban’s compliance with their commitments and calibrate the pace of our withdrawal to their actions. This is how we will ensure that Afghanistan never again serves as a base for international terrorists,” he said. Pompeo’s arrival in Doha, Qatar on Saturday followed reports that, just days earlier, he had informed a conference of U.S. ambassadors at the State Department that he was only attending the signing because President Trump has insisted on his participation, two people present told The Associated Press. “This agreement will mean nothing and today’s good feelings will not last if we don’t take concrete actions on commitments and promises that have been made,” Pompeo said, seemingly directed at his counterparts. Among those in attendance were leaders of the Taliban, who harbored Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda network as they plotted, and then celebrated, the hijackings of four airliners that were crashed into lower Manhattan, the Pentagon and a field in western Pennsylvania, killing almost 3,000 people. As part of the agreement, the U.S. is drawing back a number of the approximately 13,000 troops stationed there, although more than 8,000 will remain to ensure certain counter-terrorism conditions are met by the Taliban. Another condition of the agreement calls for the release of 5,000 Taliban members from Afghan-run jails, although it was not clear if the Afghan government will comply with that. A senior administration official told reporters earlier this week that the deal "explicitly mentions al Qaeda" and calls for the Taliban to cut all ties. That process is constitutional... the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals said in its decision in a case announced on Wednesday. The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) had filed lawsuits across the country, arguing that the present system used in 48 states is unconstitutional, as it violates the concept of one-person, one-vote. But the three judges in the Fifth Circuit disagreed with the plaintiffs' reasoning, which they described as “flawed.” Judge Jerry Smith wrote, “Democratic elections necessarily result in winners and losers. The frustration of losing, however, does not violate the Constitution.” Smith was appointed by President Ronald Reagan, as was Judge W. Eugene Davis, but the third member of the appellate court that made a unanimous ruling, Judge Carl E. Stewart, was tapped by President scumbag/liar-Bill Clinton. The Constitution, in Article II, gives plenary, or full, power to each state’s legislature to determine the method in how their presidential electors are selected. “Each state shall appoint, in such manner as the legislature thereof may direct, a number of electors equal to the whole number of senators and representatives to which the state may be entitled in the Congress,” reads Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution.In other words, were a state legislature to decide to simply appoint their presidential electors, instead of following the popular vote in their state, they could just name the electors themselves. That is exactly what some states did in the early years of the Republic. But as the years passed and a more “democratic” spirit prevailed, state legislatures began to pass laws that stipulated that the winner of the popular vote in their state would get all of its electoral votes. Whereupon, political parties began to run candidates for presidential-elector positions pledged to support the party’s nominee. Technically, then, voters were voting for the electors pledged to support the nominee of a political party, and not for the candidate themselves. Today, Texas law awards all of its electoral votes to the party whose candidate has won the popular vote — or at least a plurality more votes than any other single candidate. Only two states have opted to allocate their electoral votes in a different way — Maine and Nebraska. In those two states, the winner of each congressional district gets one electoral vote, and the winner of the state gets two votes because each state gets two senators, and thus, each state gets an electoral vote for each of those two senators. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country.” In response, liberals were hysterical, as if Donald “McCarthy” Trump had called for nothing less than a resurrection of the House Committee on Un-American Activities, a reboot of Dr. Fred Schwarz’s Christian Anti-Communism Crusade. I wrote about the hysteria at the time, giving examples from commie-Bernie Sanders to the New York Times. Remember commie-Bernie’s grim expression when Trump said that? The old Trotskyist looked like he was ready to leap from his seat and denounce the president as a capitalist reptile. The Times ran a wimpy piece, “Painting Socialists as Villains, Trump Refreshes a Blueprint.” “President Trump has proved himself adroit at creating villains to serve as his political foils,” whined the Times. “In his State of the Union address on Tuesday, he introduced a new one: socialists.” In the Washington Post, E. J. Dionne fired off a defiant retort, insisting that “Trump’s War on Socialism Will Fail.” “He wants to tar all Democrats as ‘socialists,’ ” Dionne insisted, “and then define socialism as antithetical to American values.” Of course, socialism is antithetical to American values. We don’t need Donald Trump to define it as such. In lockstep with Dionne and the Times was the longtime citadel antithetical to American values: People’s World, successor to the Daily Worker, mouthpiece of Communist Party USA. The comrades blared a headline that mocked, “A specter is haunting Donald Trump — the specter of socialism.” Even a relative unknown, a former mayor from South Bend, Indiana, with a strange last name, condemned Trump. Speaking to CNN’s Jake Tapper early last year, socialist-Pete Buttigieg ominously raised the bogeyman of a bygone era: I think he’s President Trump clinging to a rhetorical strategy that was very powerful when he was coming of age 50 years ago, but it’s just a little different right now. If you grew up during that Cold War period, then you saw a time in politics when the word “socialism” could be used to end an argument. Today I think a word like that is the beginning of a debate, not the end of a debate. Look, America is committed to democracy, and we’re essentially a market-based economy. But you can no longer simply kill off a line of discussion about a policy by saying that it’s socialist. If someone my age or younger is weighing a policy idea and somebody comes along and says, “You can’t do that, it’s socialist,” I think our answer will be, “Is it a good idea or is it not?” … So, I think the word has mostly lost its meaning. The cosmic blast likely originated in a supermassive black hole in the Ophiuchus galaxy cluster, some 390 million light years from earth. Galaxy clusters contain hundreds to thousands of galaxies, bound together by gravity, and are some of the largest known structures in the universe. The outburst of energy happened slowly, likely taking place over hundreds of millions of years, and is no longer exploding. It was five times bigger than the previous record holder. It was powerful enough to blast a massive hole in the super-heated gas surrounding the black hole, called the cluster plasma. The cavity in the cluster plasma is the size of 15 Milky Way galaxies, or 1.5 million light years across. “We’ve seen outbursts in the centers of galaxies before but this one is really, really massive,” Prof. Melanie Johnson-Hollitt, of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy in Australia, said in a statement Thursday. “We don’t know why it’s so big.” “People were skeptical because the size of outburst,” she said. “But it really is that. for top intelligence post

"Would have completed process earlier, but John wanted to wait until after IG Report was finished. John is an outstanding man of great talent!" Ratcliffe, a former federal prosecutor who had been a fierce defender of Trump and his agenda, was one of the most vocal critics of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Ratcliffe will likely face a fierce confirmation battle as Democrats have argued he was selected due to his loyalty rather than experience. In August, Trump announced that Ratcliffe would be withdrawing as his nominee for director of national intelligence just days after announcing him as his pick, citing his tough treatment at the hands of “the LameStream Media.” In a tweet at the time, Trump said that Ratcliffe, whom he tapped to replace Dan Coats, will stay in Congress. But on Friday, he announced plans -- again -- to nominate Ratcliffe. Richard Grenell, the U.S. ambassador to Germany, was appointed last week by Trump to serve as acting DNI while Trump considered who he would nominate to take over the job more permanently. Grenell is an outspoken Trump loyalist with a large conservative following on Twitter and also the first openly gay person to serve in a cabinet-level position. "Congratulations, @RepRatcliffe!" "The Federal Reserve is closely monitoring developments and their implications for the economic outlook," he said. "We will use our tools and act as appropriate to support the economy." Powell issued the statement following major losses in stock markets. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down nearly 3% on the day and had declined by more than a tenth on the week. Even before Powell signaled that the central bank would lower rates if needed, investors expected that the market turmoil would force the Fed to ease monetary policy. Bond market prices indicated Friday afternoon that investors expected a half-percentage-point cut in the Fed's interest rate target at the monetary policy committee's next meeting on March 17. President Trump has sought to play down economic concerns related to the coronavirus outbreak, blaming the week's market losses on investor fears that a Democrat will win the presidency. Appeals court temporarily blocks Trump administration's ‘Remain-in-Mexico’ policy

{ foxnews.com } ~ A federal appeals court on Friday slapped a temporary halt on the Remain-in-Mexico policy -- one of the most effective Trump administration policies in halting last year’s migrant crisis... dealing a significant blow to the administration's efforts to control the flow of migrants claiming asylum at the southern border. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled in a 2-1 vote to put a hold on the policy -- formally known as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP). In a separate ruling Friday, the same court also blocked an administration policy that prevents immigrants who crossed the border illegally from then claiming asylum in the U.S. The policy, which was established in January and expanded over the summer amid greater cooperation with Mexico, returns migrants to Mexico as they await their hearings, with courtrooms set up at key border points in places such as Laredo and Brownsville, Texas. Approximately 57,000 people have been returned to Mexico under the policy. The policy essentially ended the process known as “catch-and-release” by which migrants were released into the interior, sometimes for years, until their cases were processed. While critics said MPP was cruel and placed migrants in danger of violence by returning them to the country, it was identified as ending a key “pull factor” in why migrants were flooding the border -- namely that they would be allowed into the interior of the U.S. if they reached the border. Officials said the process meant that cases could be heard in as little as 40-60 days, as opposed to the years it sometimes takes after family units are released into the U.S. Those in favor of the program said that works better for the migrants, as it leaves them in limbo for less time, while also acting as a disincentive for Central American migrants who do not have legitimate asylum claims but might otherwise get into the U.S. by claiming “credible fear” of returning home. Since MPP was expanded, there has been a dramatic drop in migrants coming to the border from the high of April where 144,000 migrants reached the border. This week, the stock market, for one, jumped off a cliff... something it is wont to do when faced with global uncertainty. While nothing about this global health emergency is certain, we can predict with a high degree of confidence some outcomes—good and bad—that will emerge in the weeks ahead. Take the markets. Once they get jittery, they tend to stay jittery—until they don’t. The coronavirus is sure to break out in different parts of the world in the weeks ahead. This will lead to new restrictive measures that will disrupt trade, supply chains, and travel. New rumors will fly on the internet and elsewhere. Public concern will spike alongside them. And politicians will burst forth lots of suggestions about what to do—and what not to do—because, well, they always feel they have to “do something” whenever a big problem is afoot. What is also likely is that concerns may ebb as flu season comes to end. Respiratory diseases like the flu tend to wax and wane with the weather. This one will probably do the same. Of course, the coronavirus will probably be back next flu season. But that’s the next round. We’ll have to see how well the world is prepared for that. Who knows? Perhaps a vaccine will have been developed by then. It is understandable that the latest outbreaks in Italy and Iran have sent ripples of concern around the world. Ukraine opens criminal investigation

of loose lips liar-Joe Biden!

At each step of the process, we have worked with what we have to try to put together a coherent narrative. There are still significant pieces missing, at least for the public. We don’t know yet what U.S. Attorney John Durham has come up within his investigation, which has been underway now for about a year. But some recent analysis helped solidify, for me, the need to look into precisely what scumbag/commie-John Brennan was doing in the period between his odd, secretive trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming 1-3 August 2015, and the spring of 2016, when the best-known events of Spygate began to crowd the calendar. The visit to Jackson Hole was the one during which scumbag/commie-Brennan had the opportunity to meet with scumbag/liar-Bill Clinton when they were both in town for a conference sponsored by a billionaire physician and drug developer. There is no direct proof that they met. But there was also no apparent reason for scumbagt/commie-Brennan to participate in the conference, at which he made one appearance on a panel with publisher Steve Forbes. We know from a December 2019 report that John Durham has asked for records of scumbag/commie-Brennan’s activities from the Spygate period, and we can hope that probe is fruitful. Meanwhile, this article will be a relatively brief treatment of three threads running through March 2016 that definitely invite another look at scumbag/commie-Brennan. One is the discovery at the FBI that civilian contractors had improperly had access to “U.S. person information” (USPI) unmasked from communications data being retrieved by FBI analysts, ostensibly for legitimate FBI operations. Fortunately, no cartel guards were in place watching the bunker when the Mexican military discovered it. Otherwise, the Mexican military would have been subjected to yet another embarrassing military defeat at the hands of the more heavily armed cartel. The Mexican soldiers discovered claymore mines, automatic rifles, explosives, .50 caliber sniper rifles, armored vehicles and lots of military support gear like night vision goggles and so forth. The gear was stashed out of sight in an underground bunker just feet away from the US-Mexico border. Three hours away in Nuevo Laredo, there was a major cartel gun battle in January. Scared American residents in Laredo, Texas posted audio from the gun battle on their Twitter feeds. Gun battles are getting more common in border towns these days, despite media reports that Mexico is peaceful. Northern Mexico along the US border has been bandit country for more than 300 years, and it’s still bandit country today. Pancho Villa’s rebel army raided the town of Columbus, New Mexico in 1918. His soldiers killed 14 civilians – 15 if you count the unborn child of the pregnant American woman they gunned down in the street. Nine American soldiers died in the counterattack against Villa’s forces, in which they killed approximately 70 of Villa’s soldiers. Does the “Battle of Columbus” sound like ancient history? Will the spread of the disease be President Trump's Katrina or his financial crisis?... Will it be similar to the H1N1 avian flu pandemic in 2009 or will it be politicized like the Ebola outbreak in 2014? Comparisons are tough. After all, the situation is unprecedented. The political consequences of COVID-19 are difficult to predict because of the interplay between a public health emergency and a fractured public narrative. Coronavirus is the first postmodern pandemic. It has the makings of a phenomenon not seen in a century. The Spanish Flu of 1918 infected an estimated one-third of the global population. It had a case fatality rate greater than 2.5 percent—slightly higher than the rate for coronavirus observed in China so far. More than 600,000 people died in the United States of "La Grippe." No one wants to see these numbers repeated. Perhaps they won't be. The malpractice of the Chinese Communists may be responsible for the high fatality rate there. The rate outside its borders, according to the World Health Organization, is lower. And America inhabits a different public health universe than a century ago. Flu vaccines and therapeutics did not exist. Hospitals, the sciences of virology and epidemiology, and medical technology were primitive. Authorities relied on quarantines and appeals for good hygiene. Results were mixed. And disappointing. This is different from the Spanish Flu. Science, medicine, and public health have improved immeasurably. But that is not the only difference. COVID-19 is novel. No one saw it before last December. No one is sure where it came from. And it has spread quickly. Despite record advances in gene sequencing and drug testing, it will be more than a year before a vaccine can be mass produced. The global economy is far more integrated than in the past. And a worldwide broadcast, digital, and social media exist that would have been fanciful to President Wilson. CO2’s asserted negative impacts result solely from asserted climate change, yet the evidence shows the balance of impacts from our modestly warming planet has been positive rather than negative. Torres, an aquatic ecologist, spoke next. In a very affable manner, she explained how the oceans are in no danger of becoming acidic. She noted that aquaculture produces maximum fish production at PH levels between 7.0 and 7.9. Current ocean PH levels are 8.2. Even if atmospheric carbon dioxide levels tripled, ocean PH levels would decline only to 7.8, which is in the ideal PH range. Neither Happer nor Torres criticized Bozmowski. Medical Supply Chain Dominated by China

Nate Jackson Yesterday, we noted the economic trouble brought about by the deadly coronavirus, and that upheaval continued Tuesday. MarketWatch reports, “The Dow finished Tuesday down nearly 880 points to mark its sharpest-ever two-session slide in point terms, losing about 1,910 points.” The Dow is down 8.4% in just two weeks.

That coincides not just with the coronavirus epidemic and economic interruptions in China but with the rise of Bolshevik commie-Bernie Sanders as the new Democrat front-runner. That’s not a coincidence, but it is another story.

As for the U.S. and the coronavirus, the Centers for Disease Control issued a “strong warning” about it spreading here — a matter, it said, not of “if” but “when.” Naturally, Democrats in last night’s debate used the CDC warning to slam President Donald Trump, or, in Joe Biden’s case, go off on a bizarre rant bragging about his own work on ebola.

With all that in mind, this episode has brought to the forefront another problem with China’s dominance in world markets: the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and supply chains for their ingredients.

According to his recent Senate testimony, Scott Gottlieb, a physician who is also a former Trump administration Food and Drug Administration commissioner, detailed some of our strategic reliance on China for pharmaceuticals: “About 40 percent of generic drugs sold in the U.S. have only a single manufacturer. A significant supply chain disruption could cause shortages for some of many of these products. [In 2019], manufacturing of intermediate or finished goods in China, as well as pharmaceutical source material, accounted for 95 percent of U.S. imports of ibuprofen, 91 percent of U.S. imports of hydrocortisone, 70 percent of U.S. imports of acetaminophen, 40 to 45 percent of U.S. imports of penicillin, and 40 percent of U.S. imports of heparin, according to the Commerce Department. In total, 80 percent of the U.S. supply of antibiotics are made in China.”

Oh, and by the way, Gottlieb notes, “When it comes to starting material for the manufacture of pharmaceutical ingredients, a lot of this production is centered in China’s Hubei Provence, the epicenter of coronavirus.”

This isn’t the free market at work. It’s the result of Beijing’s typical and strategic market manipulation, including underselling global competitors to put them out of business and enable China’s market domination. The U.S. must be equally strategic in thinking through market issues that have national-security implications.

Growing American energy production has moved us toward independence in that sector, providing a buffer particularly for instability in the Middle East. Similarly, we must think through the production and distribution of medicines and medical supplies that are needed to protect our population. Given not just coronavirus itself but questions about its origins and previous experience with contaminated Chinese medicine, it should be painfully obvious that Americans shouldn’t rely on our Red Chinese adversaries to keep us healthy. ~The Patriot Post

Israel Emerges as Issue in California Primary

It also points to Issa's 2006 proposal for the United Nations to redraw Israel's borders, in which he argued that Israel was drawn with "artificial lines" in the first place. "We've drawn artificial lines before, not the least of which is the very creation of the state of Israel, so let's finish drawing that part of the map," Issa told the Washington Post. The new line of attack comes a week before the primary in California's 50th Congressional District, where Issa is attempting a return to the House after retiring his seat in the neighboring 49th District in 2018. The group behind the ad is American Unity PAC, a Republican group that supports pro-gay rights candidates and is supporting Carl DeMaio to be the party's candidate in November. The ad also takes issue with a July 2006 accusation by Issa that Israel was bombing Hezbollah targets in Lebanon "just so they can have a July Fourth fireworks event." A spokesman for Issa's campaign says the quotes pinpointed in the ad do not adequately portray his record of support for Israel, which is "unassailable." Chinese Destroyer Lases U.S. Navy

The laser could not be seen by a human eye but was captured by sensors on the airplane, which is a variant of the Boeing 737 that has been upgraded with sensors and systems to support tracking surface and undersea targets. The incident, which PACFLT called “unsafe and unprofessional,” took place on Feb. 17 and was just announced by the Navy. Weapons-grade lasers could potentially cause serious harm to aircrew and mariners, as well as ship and aircraft systems, PACFLT noted in its statement. The destroyer involved appears to be Hohhot, a Type 052D or Luyang III-class destroyer in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy. This destroyer, pennant number 161, is among the newer Chinese destroyers and entered the fleet last year, according to news reports. Some analysts argue that Washington should not try to compete with the Kremlin there while others maintain that any concession is unacceptable. Russian arms sales to Lebanon would likely not affect the region's balance of power, but Moscow's expansion of its Syrian air defense umbrella could tip the balance of forces in the Arab-Israeli and Iranian-Israeli conflicts and create a serious challenge for the United States in the near future. During the first half of 2018, Russia increasingly expressed unhappiness with Israeli air strikes against Iranian and Hezbollah targets in Syria. On September 17, 2018, Syrian air defenses shot down a Russian Ilyushin IL-20 military aircraft, supposedly by accident, during an Israeli operation. Moscow blamed Israel for the incident and immediately deployed S-300 air defense systems to Syria, significantly limiting the Israeli air force's freedom of movement. Russian military and civilian experts openly insisted that now was the time to show Israel that the Kremlin dictated the rules in Syria. Fyodor Lukyanov, chairman of the Presidium of the Council for Foreign and Defense Policy stated: "If Israel were to defy Russia's dominant role, Russia would react and take a stand. Greece's Migrant Crisis:

"A Powder Keg Ready to Explode"

The government says that the new camps, expected to be operational by July 2020, are needed to alleviate overcrowding at other locations that have been the focus of international criticism. Local residents counter that the migrants should be transferred to mainland Greece. On February 25, more than 500 locals prevented construction workers from accessing the site of a proposed new migrant camp at Karava Mantamadou on Lesbos. Riot police used tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the crowds. Similar clashes occurred on Chios, a large Greek island located less than 20 kilometers from Turkey, from where tens of thousands of migrants depart each year in hopes of eventually reaching mainland Europe. The new site on Lesbos will be a so-called closed camp that tightly controls access and will replace the current open-access camp at Moria. The closed camps will allow migrants to go out during the day but will require them to be locked in at night. The objective is to control their movements and prevent them from escaping to the mainland. In addition to Lesbos, Greek authorities plan to build closed facilities on the islands of Chios, Kos, Leros and Samos. The islands are all close to Turkey. Trump Visits India

President Trump is currently making his first official visit to India, the world’s largest democracy. The U.S.-India relationship is a critical counterweight to China’s growing power and influence in Asia. It is also an important alliance in the fight against radical Islam.

More than 100,000 Indians packed the world’s largest cricket stadium to hear remarks by President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The president announced a $3 billion defense deal with India and added that the two nations are working toward a major trade deal. Referring to mutual defense interests, President Trump said:

Together, we will defend our sovereignty, security, and protect a free and open Indo-Pacific region for our children and for many, many generations to come… The United States and India are also firmly united in our ironclad resolve to defend our citizens from the threat of radical Islamic terrorism.

I know many readers are also concerned about religious-liberty issues in India, and the White House has made it clear that the president will address that issue in private meetings with Modi.

commie-Bernie’s Blowout

Vermont Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders didn’t just win the Nevada caucuses Saturday — it was a blowout. Sanders took 47% of the vote, while loose lips liar-Joe Biden finished a distant second at 20%, followed by socialist-Pete Buttigieg (14%), Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren (10%), Tom Steyer (5%), and Amy Klobuchar (4%). Michael Bloomberg wasn’t on the ballot.

The Democrat establishment is in total meltdown because Sanders is revealing the real agenda of the party’s left-wing base. Today’s Democrat Party is increasingly divided between those who favor open socialism and those who believe hidden socialism is easier to sell.

Most Americans aren’t on board with the socialist agenda, and Democrats are scrambling to stop commie-Sanders at all costs. Many party leaders had hoped that Michael Bloomberg could be “Plan B” if loose lips liar-Biden faltered, but that strategy has been called into question since last week’s disastrous debate performance.

Bloomberg will have an opportunity to redeem himself at tonight’s debate in Charleston, South Carolina. He will be under enormous pressure to prove he’s not a worse debater than loose lips liar-Joe Biden. But he’s not on South Carolina’s primary ballot.

Meanwhile, commie-Sanders has smashed loose lips liar-Biden’s Palmetto State firewall, and Super Tuesday continues to look like it will be a very good day for commie-Sanders.

Part of the reason many Democrats are worried about commie-Bernie Sanders as their party’s nominee is his long history of praising brutal left-wing regimes around the world.

Reflecting the liberal establishment’s anxiety, “60 Minutes” host Anderson Cooper confronted Sanders with some of his past praise for communist dictator Fidel Castro. commie-Sanders told Cooper:

We’re very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba, but, you know, it’s unfair to simply say everything is bad. You know, when Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing?

In response to commie-Sanders’s callous comment, Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted, “It really makes a difference when those you murder at the firing squad can read & write.”

If commie-Sanders wins the nomination, Democrats can kiss Florida goodbye. The state is full of immigrants who fled Castro’s communism and other socialist regimes throughout Latin America.

Bashing Israel Too

When commie-Bernie’s not busy praising communists, he’s bashing Israel. Bolstered by his Nevada victory, commie-Sanders announced that he will not speak to the annual AIPAC conference this year, alleging that AIPAC provides a platform for “bigotry.”

The attack on AIPAC may seem odd at first glance, as commie-Sanders is Jewish. But I think there is a simple explanation. commie-Sanders is anti-Israel. He has key people on his staff who despise Israel, and he has been endorsed by anti-Semites like lowlife-Linda Sarsour, worthless-Ilhan Omar, and worthless-Rashida Tlaib.

But commie-Sanders understands the base of the Democrat Party. Polling shows that while Americans are generally pro-Israel (Christians and Republicans especially so), the base of the Democrat Party — millennials and progressives — are increasingly anti-Israel.

Polling shows the Democrat Party is evenly divided between support for Israel and the Palestinians. All the other candidates in the primary are trying to be even-handed in their approach to the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, dividing up the half of the Democrat vote that still supports Israel.

And while they are splitting up the pro-Israel vote, Sanders has consolidated the half that hates Israel.

The Left Attacks Iconic USA Team

Do you remember the “Miracle on Ice”? I certainly do, and President Trump honored the members of that historic Olympic team at his Las Vegas rally Friday night.

It was a fitting tribute to the team and to the American spirit they represent as the rally occurred on the eve of the 40th anniversary of their historic win over the Soviet Union. Needless to say, the crowd loved it and erupted in chants of “USA! USA! USA!”

But the Internet nearly crashed as enraged leftists went ballistic. Of course, the team released a statement, which read:

To us, this is not about politics or choosing sides. This is about proudly representing the United States of America. Whether your beliefs are Democratic, Republican, Independent, etc. we support that and are proud to represent the USA. It is an honor and privilege!

And there’s the rub. The progressive left that increasingly calls the shots would never invite them! It would never occur to them that the U.S. victory over the USSR carried more significance than a simply hockey game. But more than that, the players’ presence would send too much of a mixed message to their radical base.

Virus Outbreak

The news on the coronavirus over the weekend was disturbingly bad. There are now outbreaks in Italy, Iran, Japan, and South Korea. In some cases, there is no obvious connection to China. In Italy, 20% of those infected are in intensive care.

There is a potential crisis within this crisis. We first mentioned it to you four weeks ago when we brought up the dependence of the United States on medical supplies from China.

In recent decades, China has decided that it was going to dominate the world’s pharmaceutical industry. It started selling ingredients essential to medicines on the world market below market costs to drive many suppliers out of business.

Big multinational drug companies started moving facilities to China so they could have ready access to cheaper ingredients. The last U.S. company manufacturing penicillin shut down in 2004.

The result is that approximately 80% of essential medications now rely on the Chinese supply line. It’s not just medicines. China is one of the main suppliers of surgical masks. Beijing banned the export of those masks. Doctors everywhere are now scrambling.

There were warnings. Investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson covered it extensively. Yet the political establishment before Trump convinced itself that we should be a global marketplace, and free marketeers insisted that everything should be made wherever it is cheapest.

But a great nation must be able to make certain things, even if it costs more, if it wants to be safe. I know the Trump administration is working 24/7 to find solutions. Whatever happens, just remember that it was the sleepwalking of the DC swamp for decades before Trump that got us into this mess. ~The Patriot Post

A seized shipment, revealed by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on Feb. 19, included drone and cruise missile components reportedly linked to an attack on Saudi Arabia’s Abqaiq oil facility last September. To confront the threat, Israel rolled out a new multi-year plan to transform its armed forces’ ability to both fight a multi-front war and to confront Iran. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is trying to do something unique in history by preparing the army for a potential future war that does not look like any before. Often armies end up planning to face enemies of the past, with disastrous results. This was the case with tactics of the U.S. Civil War, or the French army’s static defenses in World War II. Recent conflicts have revealed how technology is transforming the battlefield. This is illustrated in the counter-insurgency campaigns of the kind the U.S. has faced in the Global War on Terror, and inter-state conflicts such as tensions between Iran and other countries in the Middle East. Israel dubs its new plan “Momentum,” and it says the concept is to combine all the elements of its armed forces, including land, sea, air, intelligence and cyber. Using one kind of force, such as just the air force or just infantry, is a relic of the past. That means putting more resources into units at the front, and more capabilities such as drones and even high-energy lasers to confront drone threats. It also means using more accurate precision-guided munitions. In a recent briefing by the IDF, the army characterized this as going into “uncharted territory and leading the way. There is focus throughout the world on what we are doing.” To imagine what the future battlefield might look like, it’s worth looking at a few Israeli technologies. One is called Fire Weaver, which will be integrated into the army in the next several years. It links all the soldiers in an area to a network, sort of like when you play a first-person-shooter video game and see all the other players. It also uses artificial intelligence to optimize which weapon system can be used against threats. For example, if one soldier with an M-16 can’t hit an enemy who is hiding in a building, the system can calculate that a drone or another team on the other side of the village could hit the enemy. The system is supposed to reduce friendly-fire, collateral damage to civilians and give commanders faster intelligence to make decisions. It is a bit like applying management information systems, or efficiency concepts one might find in business, to war...

Specifically, he cited over $7 million in funding from Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which creates a potential conflict of interest with funds intended for U.S. national security programs, and multiple professors who openly support the BDS movement, publish articles with antisemitic content, and take highly politicized views of Israel and Jews. Rep. Gosar notes that Title VI grants are intended to fund foreign language and international studies programs with the goal of improving America's national security. But higher education watchdogs have long raised concerns about the actual practices of Title VI-funded Middle East studies centers. In many cases, the fact that their personal well-being, may be negatively affected by the on-going trends, did not trigger their conscious perception of reality. Wishful thinking was for a long time a serious motivation to make irrational decisions. The classical example was the “Peace for our times” Chamberlain's interpretation of Hitler’s letter promising peace and tranquility in Europe before the Second World War. Another delusional action was related to the infamous “Iran Deal” which looked promising on paper but very rapidly, it became evident that there were many problems with the deal which gave the radical Iranian leadership a clear pass to possess atomic weapons after several years. During this period of time, they could cheat the observers, continue producing nuclear material, improve on their delivery systems, expand their efforts to destabilize their target countries and establish a terror infrastructure that will support their long-term goals of international domination. Interestingly, in the near future, elections for national leadership are looming in Israel and in the USA. In both countries important decisions will have to be made, which will determine the future of both countries. For some reason people like to make the differences between the two major opposing parties as a quarrel between Left and Right. In reality the decision relates to choices which will have significant effects on national security and on economic stability. People must understand that there is no real “free” government awarded “free stuff”! There is always somebody who will have to pay for it. Margaret Thatcher used to say that “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money!” Look what happened in Cuba, Venezuela, or Russia. A similar consideration should be given when we have to address safety and security. Having neighbors who are determined to eliminate you from the face of the world and who educate their children to do the same, will never provide you with safety nor with security even if you will provide them with a flourishing economy and with enhanced political recognition. Providing these powers to terror entities will only make them a better financed and a more effective terrorist. Once they establish their distorted ideology throughout their educational systems and their public domains, they will not care about losing their economical achievement as their priorities will be to advance their wicked ideology. Osama Bin Laden, Mahmoud Abbas or the Supreme leaders of Iran, were and are wealthy people who were and are willing to risk everything in order to try and save their hold on power or to promote their distorted ideology. CNBC reported. “This is a fluid situation right now and I want to emphasize the risk to the American public remains low,” said Dr. Sonia Y. Angell, California Department of Public Health Director and State Health Officer during a press conference according to CNBC. “There have been a limited number of confirmed cases to date.” The announcement comes a day after a suspected case was reported to have been caused through “community spread,” making the person the first in the U.S. to contract the virus without having traveled to affected areas or having exposure to others who had the coronavirus, according to NPR. The suspected case was left undiagnosed for days because a request for testing wasn’t initially granted, officials at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento said according to NPR. Senate Dems Kill Newborn and Preborn Protections

Thomas Gallatin Senate Republicans failed on Tuesday to garner the 60 votes necessary to override a Democrat filibuster of two separate pieces of legislation, both of which sought to protect the most vulnerable among us — preborn and newborn children.

In a vote of 53 for and 44 against, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act failed to advance to debate. The bill would have made abortion illegal after 20 weeks of pregnancy, except in cases risking the mother’s life and for victims of rape and incest (roughly 1% of pregnancies). Bill sponsor Lindsey Graham (R-SC) pointedly noted, “There are only seven countries that allow wholesale abortions at the 20-week period, including China and North Korea. The United States should NOT be in that club.”

The second Senate bill torpedoed by Democrats was the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would have required an abortion provider to engage in life-saving procedures to “preserve the life and health” of a child born alive after a failed abortive attempt. Ben Sasse (R-NE), a sponsor of the legislation, blasted Democrat resistance. “Nothing in this bill touches abortion access,” Sasse said, adding that it only protects “babies that have already been born.” After only three Democrats crossed the aisle to side with Republicans on the bill, Sasse disgustedly observed, “This body ought to be able to stand 100 to zero against that [infanticide] barbarism.” The three Democrats were Bob Casey (PA), Doug Jones (AL), and Joe Manchin (WV).

Hawaii Democrat Mazie Hirono voted against Sasse’s bill, arguing earlier this month that infanticide was already illegal and that the bill was “a solution to a problem that does not exist.” Yes, “infanticide is indeed illegal in the U.S.” Sasse agreed, “Yet in half of the states, there is no criminalization of walking away from the baby and allowing it to die by exposure. There’s an active-passive distinction and a state-federal distinction, which are both pretty fundamental.”

Predictably, CNN sought to defend Senate Democrats by ridiculously asserting that a “fetus that was born” was not the same as a “newborn baby,” because in the first instance the mother didn’t want the child. In other words, CNN ludicrously claims that a mother’s subjective personal desire rather than objective biological reality is what confers personhood onto a baby. With views this devoid of basic logic, is it any wonder the Left also rejects the biological reality of gender being binary?

On a final note, this all went down in the Senate as three Democrat senators hoping to be president were preparing to debate in South Carolina. None voted on the measures, but it was still exceedingly ironic for Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren to, after repeating her “fired while pregnant” tall tale, slam Michael Bloomberg for allegedly telling a pregnant female employee to “kill it.” Isn’t “kill it” essentially the Democrat platform?

The implosion, and imminent demise of Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential race is epic, but it has now gone beyond funny gaffes and nonsense to outright scary.

While he’s long been the butt of jokes for saying the wrong things at inappropriate times, and rightly so, Biden’s mental state now seems to be descending rapidly into what could be dementia, or some form of it.

For years, he’s had a great deal of trouble remembering where he is at any given time, and just a little more than a week ago, on the day of the New Hampshire primary at a final campaign stop, he actually thought he was in Nevada.

But just a couple of days ago, what I believe to be the true nature of whatever it is that Biden is suffering from became so glaringly clear that even his dwindling numbers of supporters were left wondering about their candidate’s mental state.
