All of Washington is waiting with bated breath to find out whether the Mueller investigation will provide evidence proving that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia. So far, “Exhibit A” against President Trump is the meeting Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort had with a group of Russians claiming to have dirt on liar-Hillary Clinton. That meeting should never have happened. When you get an email offering to provide “very high level and sensitive information” from the “Crown prosecutor of Russia” that could “incriminate liar-Hillary” Clinton and is part of “Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump” you don’t reply by saying “I love it.” You call the FBI.
               The president claims he did not know about the meeting. His former lawyer, Michael Cohen, says he did. Whether he knew is beside the point. Senior officials of his campaign were willing to accept help from Vladimir Putin; they were saved only because the meeting was a bust. The Russians didn’t end up providing any dirt.
               But as bad as the Trump Tower meeting was, it took place at the request of the Russians. They were the ones who approached the Trump campaign, not the other way around.
               By contrast, the liar-Clinton campaign proactively sought dirt on Trump from Russian government sources. They did it through cutouts. In April 2016, liar-Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias retained opposition research firm Fusion GPS to compile incriminating information on Trump. Fusion GPS in turn hired Christopher Steele, a former British MI6 operative with sources among Russian government officials. The result was the salacious dossier, whose sources included “a senior Russian Foreign Ministry figure” and “a former top level intelligence officer still active in the Kremlin.” Steele’s work was paid for by liar-Clinton’s presidential campaign and the dummycrats-Democratic National Committee. That means a paid agent of the liar-Clinton campaign approached Russian officials for damaging material on Trump.
                liar-Clinton claims she did not know about Steele’s work. It doesn’t matter. Imagine if Michael Cohen, or another lawyer paid by the Trump campaign and Republican National Committee, had hired a former British spy with campaign money to collect dirt on liar-Clinton from Russian intelligence and foreign ministry officials. Do you think that everyone in Washington would be saying: “There’s no evidence Trump knew, so no big deal — nothing to see here?” Of course not.
               Moreover, liar-Clinton officials have defended Steele’s actions. Brian Fallon, liar-Clinton’s campaign spokesman, has said he “would have volunteered to go to Europe and try to help” Steele and would happily have spread dirt obtained from the Russians. “Opposition research happens on every campaign,” he told The Post. He also said: “I am damn glad [Elias] pursued this on behalf of our campaign and only regret more of this material was not verified in time for the voters to learn it before the election.”
               In other words, “I love it.” We also know that the dummycrats-Democrats covered up their involvement. The dossier was published by BuzzFeed in January, but it was not until Oct. 24, 2017 — more than nine months later — that Americans learned it was the dummycrats-DNC and the liar-Clinton campaign that paid for it. If it did nothing wrong, why did Team liar-Clinton leave Americans in the dark about its involvement for so long?
               Let’s be clear: None of this excuses the Trump campaign’s reprehensible behavior in accepting a meeting with Russians claiming to be government agents offering dirt on liar-Clinton. Mueller’s investigation is not a witch hunt. If Mueller finds that anyone on the Trump campaign entered into a criminal conspiracy with Russia, they should go to jail.
               Furthermore, none of this calls into question the intelligence community’s assessment that the Russians wanted Trump to win — something Putin publicly confirmed in his Helsinki news conference with Trump. But the intelligence community assessment also found that the Kremlin expected liar-Clinton to win. The Russians are not stupid. They were preparing for the prospect of a liar-Clinton presidency, and they played both sides. That’s why millions of dollars in Russian cash were sloshing aroundliar-Clinton World — including $500,000 liar-Bill Clinton received for a Moscow speech from a Russian investment bank with links to the Kremlin.
               Russia continues to pose a threat. Their goal, according to our intelligence community, was not just to help Trump but also to “undermine public faith in the US democratic process.” They are playing a long game. If we are to counter the Russian threat, we need to understand its complexities — and that means we have to look beyond Trump.

             Under Barack liar-nObama, short-term health insurance plans were only allowed to last for a length of just three months. This was intentional so as to prevent younger, healthier Americans from abandoning the higher costs under liar-nObamaCare.
               Following the new rule change, individuals can purchase short-term plans that don’t have to comply withliar-nObamaCare’s litany of regulations, nor must they meet the costly benefit mandates. These short-term plans can deny coverage for pre-existing conditions and can charge more to sick individuals than those who are healthy. HHS Secretary Alex Azar noted, “These plans aren’t for everyone, but they provide a much more affordable option for millions of the forgotten men and women left out by the current system.” And Bruce Telkamp, CEO of HealthPocket and Agile Health Insurance, explained, “One-year short-term plans will bring immediate relief to consumers needing low premiums and unrestricted provider network coverage so they will not join the ranks of the uninsured.”
               Meanwhile, the Leftmedia bemoaned the rule change as yet another instance of Trump’s ongoing effort to “sabotage” liar-nObamaCare. But as Investor’s Business Daily cogently observed, “The truth — which dummycrats-Democrats will never admit — is that liar-nObamaCare was failing long before President Donald Trump took the keys to the White House. It was failing because it was a horribly designed, centrally planned health care system built on regulations that had already failed in various states that previously experimented with them.” Trump has simply responded to the problem by offering a practical albeit partial solution to the millions of Americans who can’t afford   liar-nObamaCare.

             Last Friday’s report about Trump administration officials now advocating for Afghan forces to leave the sparsely populated areas of the country to consolidate gains, coupled with top U.S. diplomats holding face-to-face talks with Taliban representatives in Qatar a week ago without Afghan government officials present, are strong indicators that the longest war in the history of the republic may be coming to a close.
               While military commanders say in public there is reason for “cautious optimism,” the facts on the ground belie their feelings. By most objective measures the change in strategy hasn’t worked.
               According to the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) quarterly document released a couple of days ago, the Afghan National Defense Security Forces (ANDSF) have once again failed to improve control over sovereign districts, population, and territory. Instead, district and territorial control became slightly more contested between the government and insurgency forces. However, more distressing than the lack of gains on the ground were the findings that the Afghan government may be going back to “business as usual” and “simply checking the box” when it comes to fighting corruption. Is it any wonder that Trump is looking for a workable solution to extract American troops from the region?
               He can take some solace in the fact that he tried to modify the strategy, but the mission is one that simply can’t be achieved with the current level of resources. Over the last year since the change in strategy was announced, the Department of Defense has aggressively taken the fight to insurgent forces. The amount of airstrikes in Afghanistan by U.S. coalition nations has gone up under the Trump administration. As a matter of fact, this year airstrikes are on pace to reach record highs, but sadly, the expenditure of munitions has only created an impasse of epic proportions.
               Steve Brooking, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan’s (UNAMA) director of peace and reconciliation, recently described the situation in the war-torn state as a “mutually hurting stalemate.” Unfortunately, the situation doesn’t appear to have much chance of getting any better, so now is the time for the Trump administration to pursue trilateral peace negotiations and initiate the transition of operations to the Ashraf Ghani led Afghan government.
               While some hawks are critical of such a move, the gridlock on the ground and in the diplomatic channels leaves very few options available. A U.S.-led political settlement is a much more achievable goal than a military victory, and more importantly, it enables the U.S. to exit the country and put critical military resources in other theaters around the world.

             But a strange thing happened on our way to this meeting with destiny: Trump and congressional Republicans have succeeded in kick-starting an economy that was running in low gear over the previous eight years thanks to a “jobless recovery.” While it’s still possibledummycrats-Democrats will make significant inroads into the GOP advantage, there’s no guarantee that either the House or Senate will flip back to dummycrats-Democrat control.
               Meanwhile, a battle begun in 2016 and barely tempered during liar-Hillary Clinton’s campaign now rages for the very soul of the dummycrats-Democrat Party. As evidence, look no further than your local college campus. Chances are you will find this is the age of thedummycrats-democratic socialist.
               In their desperation — perhaps brought on by Trump Derangement Syndrome — dummycrats-Democrat voters, in particular the Millennial set, have been showing up at primaries ready to elect the person who promises the most free stuff regardless of relevant experience. Two cases in point happened on the same June 26 primary day: First, dummycrats-Democrat voters in Maryland eschewed several more traditional candidates, such as the county executive of the state’s second-largest county as well as a veteran state senator, in favor of the commie-Bernie Sanders-backed former head of the NAACP, Ben Jealous. (Was there ever a better name for a candidate of the Party of Envy?) More shockingly on a national level, though, 20-year veteran dummycrats-Democrat House leader Joe Crowley of New York was upset by a 28-year-old novice candidate. This stunning result made a sudden household name out of commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and she’s now in demand nationwide as a leader in the socialist movement.
               The enthusiasm behind the leftward turn in the political wheel, though, is papering over some serious concerns about these candidates. In her media appearances, commie-Ocasio-Cortez has been less than forthright about her intentions and ideas, conceding even that capitalism was the “most efficient and best” system — but only temporarily. While commie-Alexandria and her ilk are trying to sell their brand of politics as similar to that of nations like Norway, Denmark, and Sweden, in reality they would lead us to Venezuela.
               When it’s learned that commie-Bernie Sanders’s “Medicare for All” system is estimated to cost $32.6 trillion over 10 years, it seems to curb the public’s enthusiasm a tad.
               Even Barack liar-nObama is trying his best to keep cards close to his vest, passing up a chance to endorse the bid of commie-Ocasio-Cortez in an otherwise long list of endorsements.
               While commie-Ocasio-Cortez is popular among a set of Millennials who have no problem creating what they consider the evolution of society beyond capitalism,dummycrats-Democrat brass are a little nervous as they see their best chance at regaining congressional control and grabbing the levers of power in states where redistricting will be at stake slipping away because independents aren’t buying into the far-left message — and Republicans are being motivated to go to the polls.
               Some crafty dummycrats-Democratic Socialists attempt an end around by contending cradle-to-grave government is a natural extension of the teachings of Jesus. Kelley Rose, co-founder of the West Virginia chapter of the dummycrats-Democratic Socialists of America (commie-Ocasio-Cortez is a card-carrying member of the DSA), insists, “Possibly my mother would want to debate me on this, but if anyone was ever a socialist it was Jesus.” (Your mother isn’t the only one to debate that.)
               Certainly those who follow Christ are exhorted over and over in Scripture to assist our fellow men, but that instruction is not given to government. And as Mark Alexander pointed out, the one instance of poverty socialism doesn’t address is a poverty of spirit. This can only be addressed through a ministry of compassion and caring, not taxpayer cash and material goods. In fact, living in a socialist and secular society makes one poorer still in that spiritual regard.
               The story of the Left since November 2016 has been one of fits and starts: surprise electoral successes in Virginia, Alabama, and local races nationwide tempered by a lack of agreement on an agenda moving forward. This is because the success of commie-Ocasio-Cortez isn’t based on the same set of voters (or values) that propelled Conor Lamb to a Pennsylvania win last spring, and the overall electorate more closely mirrors Lamb’s PA-18 example than the overwhelmingly Democrat stronghold from which commie-Ocasio-Cortez hails. Yet Millennials, peering out from the shelter of their “safe spaces,” can’t always separate rhetoric from reality.
               It’s almost a parallel to the early days of the Tea Party, but that movement quickly figured out how to live within the so-called “Buckley Rule” of backing the most viable conservative candidate for the race. However, we don’t mind if the radical Left takes a lot longer to learn that viability lesson.

             Even President Donald Trump, a reliable supporter of gun rights, expressed doubt about the safety of 3D guns. The day before the State Department agreement was to go into effect, the president tweeted, “I am looking into 3-D Plastic Guns being sold to the public. Already spoke to NRA, doesn’t seem to make much sense!”
               Is the outcry over 3D guns overblown? After all, as National Review’s David French correctly asserts, “People have been making homemade guns since before the founding of the Republic. You don’t need a license to make a gun for personal use; you need one only if you make a gun for sale or distribution. Guns can be made at home easily and cheaply. Home manufacture is common.”
               And the fact that the Undetectable Firearms Act was passed into law in 1988, long before 3D printers were invented, highlights the fact that there’s nothing new going on here.
               So why the sudden uproar from Second Amendment opponents?
               One of the reasons might be that the anti-gun crowd is getting desperate. Unable to chip away any further at Second Amendment rights, and with the future of gun control looking bleaker due to the potential of an expanding conservative bloc on the Supreme Court, gun grabbers are taking a final stand. They’re even going to the extreme of claiming that the Tenth Amendment grants states the right to regulate firearms — even while attacking the First Amendment just to get to the Second.
               Of course, no one ever accused leftists of being faithful to the Constitution.
               Columnist David Harsanyi asks an important question: “How can the state ban the transfer of knowledge used to help someone engage in an activity that is completely legal? Scratch that — to engage in an activity that is constitutionally protected?”
               The proverbial cat is out of the bag, and no court ruling is going to stop 3D gun information from spreading online. In fact, it already has. When the government ordered Wilson to take his designs down from the Internet in 2013, it soon discovered that the information had popped up on so many other sites that it was too late to stop it.
               Much to the chagrin of gun-control proponents, it’s happening again.
               The Washington Times reports, “A judge’s attempt to halt the spread of blueprints for 3D-printed guns backfired Wednesday as the plans spread across the internet, posted and shared by people who said they were determined to strike a blow for free speech, to protect gun rights, or just to thumb their nose at the government.”
               In other words, those who tried to stop the spread of 3D gun information this week may have done more to spark interest in the technology than existed before. Now it’s all about spreading misinformation, such as the argument that 3D weapons will easily elude metal detectors.
               Gun opponents conveniently leave out the fact that the possession of totally undetectable firearms remains a violation of federal law, but even 3D guns will have a hard time making it past security.
               The Liberator — the gun designed by Defense Distributed, contains a metal part specifically designed to be picked up by metal detectors. For those concerned about people making guns without the piece of metal, Popular Mechanics recently  discovered that a magazine containing multiple cartridges would still set off most metal detectors.
               Surprisingly, even April Glaser of the leftist rag Slate agrees. She reminds us, “Despite what lawmakers were saying this week, it’s not clear that 3D-printed guns pose a serious threat. Plans for printing 3D weaponry never disappeared from the internet as a result of Wilson’s legal challenges, and it seems that 3D-printed guns don’t even work very well — when they do work.”
               Let’s not forget that in a country where just about anyone can own affordable and more traditional guns, there isn’t likely to be an explosion of plastic guns.
               Despite the fact that the State Department has admitted it has no jurisdiction over controlling domestic gun policies, the fight to ban accessibility to 3D gun schematics is just beginning. But in the end, there’s no stopping the technology unless the government intends to take away our right to free speech on the Internet along with our right to keep and bear arms.

             Since 1990, air pollutant concentrations are astonishingly improved. Carbon monoxide eight-hour concentration is down 77%. Some other reductions include lead three-month average (80%), nitrogen dioxide (50% and 56% depending on the time interval), eight-hour ozone (22%), particulate matter (between 34% and 41% depending on the variable), and one-hour sulfur dioxide (88%). The report also notes that “from 1990 to 2014 emissions of air toxics declined by 68 percent.”
               This while the economy’s taking off. According to the report, “Between 1970 and 2017, the combined emissions of the six common pollutants … dropped by 73 percent. This progress occurred while the U.S. economy continued to grow, Americans drove more miles and population and energy use increased.” In fact, Investor’s Business Daily points out, “By comparison, during that time the U.S.‘ economy grew 262% and its population by 60%.”
               IBD also offers this important sidebar: “Not included in the report, but equally if not more significant, is the fact that CO2 — the main greenhouse gas — overall has plunged 29% since peaking in 2007. That’s been the relentless focus of global warming activists and the left-leaning power elites from their policy perches.”
               And as for the ecofascists’ forthcoming demands for additional regulations in light of the demonstrable improvements made by past government oversight, IBD cautions, “The problem with this, of course, is that ‘tougher’ rules are often counter-productive. There’s something in economics called the 80-20 rule, or Pareto principle, that’s valid here. It says that 80% of the improvement in anything comes from 20% of the effort. The final 20% of improvement requires 80% of the total effort — often a waste of money and effort. That’s where we are with environmental improvements, unfortunately.”
               This is where, as John Stossel suggested last year, the EPA needs to declare victory and then take a backseat. As he noted, “The agency was necessary in 1970, when it was created. At the time, cities dumped whatever we flushed into nearby waterways — with no treatment. … Now, in a rational world, the EPA would say, ‘Stick a fork in it, it’s done! EPA now stands for "Enough Protection Already.”’ But bureaucracies never say they’re done. ‘Done’ means bureaucrats are out of work. Can’t have that.“
               The same goes for the environmental lobby. The air will never be clean enough for them — regardless of what the evidence says. But rest assure that, relative to the past, the air you breathe today is especially refreshing.

             Trump thanked Scott for his encouraging words and noted the economic success over the last 18 months. “We’ve increased and created 3.7 million more jobs since Election Day,” Trump said. “African-American and Hispanic unemployment rates have reached the lowest levels in recorded history, meaning history — the lowest levels ever. African-American and Hispanic, Asian also, women also — [lowest in] 66 years.” He added, “We’ve launched a bold workforce training initiative. So far, over 100 companies and associations have already pledged to train and retrain over four million Americans. So important, because we have companies, once again, coming back into our country, and they want to employ people. So we’re training and working with these people, and we’re getting companies to do the same.”
               Trump also highlighted the need to create greater employment opportunity for those coming out of prison. “Our focus on opportunity for every citizen includes helping former prisoners,” he said. “These citizens reentering society have had a tough time. We want them to get jobs so they don’t have to return to a life of crime and go back into the same prison where they just got out. I mean, this has been a tremendous problem, and the best thing we could do, actually, is exactly what we’re doing — creating an environment where the country is doing so well.”
               Meanwhile, the latest employment numbers continue the positive economic trend. This bolsters Trump’s agenda for getting all Americans back to work, where they can more freely better themselves and take greater responsibility for their own livelihoods. In July, headline unemployment dropped to 3.9%, near a half-century low. And all Americans are seeing the benefits. Unemployment among blacks sits at 6.6%, Hispanics at 4.5%, and for Asians it declined to 3.1%.
               All this good economic news for the U.S. is translating into growing popularity numbers for Trump, even among minority groups. Recent polling indicates that Trump’s approval rating has been steadily increasing among both Hispanics and blacks, up 10% since January among the latter group. And this upward tick is happening despite the 24/7 anti-Trump news coverage from the mainstream media. That’s because Trump’s policies are having a real impact upon people’s lives. It’s not all talk and no action.

             As a 2017 Orange County Register article reveals, many of these lawsuits epitomize the word “frivolous.” “Businesses can be sued because a bathroom mirror is an inch too high, a sign is missing or the paint on a disabled parking space has become too faded over time,” the paper reported. “There are numerous examples like the San Ramon gas station owner who was forced to install a shield under a bathroom sink to prevent burns to the legs of someone in a wheelchair — even though the bathroom does not even have hot water.”
               Unsurprisingly, California made the problem worse with the passage of the Unruh Civil Rights Act. It quadruples the fines imposed by the ADA, and requires payment of the plaintiff’s legal fees. And despite the state’s passage of a law to limit such lawsuits, it remains the epicenter of them: 40% of ADA cases nationwide are filed in the Golden State, despite it having only 12% of the nation’s disabled population.
               California is hardly an outlier, and it’s not only ADA violations with regard to a business’s physical access that are being targeted. “Lawsuits accusing businesses of failing to ensure that their websites are accessible to deaf, blind, or otherwise disabled customers have been on the rise in recent years and show no sign of tapering off, say attorneys who specialize in accessibility litigation,” reports Florida’s Sun-Sentinel newspaper.
               Courts have ruled that websites must be accessible if they are connected to physical entities such as retail stores, restaurants, and hotels, or operated by local governments archiving public documents or holding public meetings. For a website to be ADA-compliant, written content must be coded for audio translation, videos must include audio description for the blind and close captions for the deaf, and all interactive commands must be keyboard-command accessible for those incapable of using a mouse.
               Many of these requirements were engendered by a 2017 landmark court case in which U.S. District Judge Robert Scola Jr. ruled that supermarket chain Winn-Dixie violated the ADA by not making its website accessible to the visually impaired, failing to offer them the “full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations” provided to its other customers. This case was the first evidence-based ruling that an inaccessible website violated the ADA’s Title III “public accommodation” requirements.
               Thus, while physical locations “are still tested and sued, a recent increase in federal litigation based on ADA violation claims in Florida and elsewhere has been fueled by website-based challenges,” the Sun-Sentinel adds. No doubt.
               The latest ADA abuse has occurred in New York City. Arik Matatov, a 24-year-old Queens resident, sued Manhattan  businesses for their lack of wheel chair accessibility over a six-week period last winter. “He’s looking to have access to places. He’s very strong on that,” said Matatov’s lawyer, Jeffrey Neiman. When Neiman was asked why Matatov would visit places that would seemingly have little to offer him, such as the bridal shop or a beauty-supply store, the attorney insisted Matatov “likes to browse.”
               Thus the letter Neiman sent to 49 Manhattan establishments should surprise no one. “To avoid litigation, we offer to settle this matter for $50,000 plus the commitment to purchase and have readily available a portable ramp, it reads.” Neiman’s rationale for the $50,000 settlement figure? That’s what the New York State attorney general could fine the businesses for not complying with ADA mandates. “We’re not making oodles and oodles of money,” he insisted.
               Really? Assuming he were successful, these 49 lawsuits alone could generate a payout of $2.45 million.
               Businesses can’t afford them. Max Leifer owned an Italian restaurant called Da Marcella. He was sued by Jose Figueroa and his attorney Stuart Finkelstein, who have filed 21 other similar cases against businesses since 2017. When Finkelstein demanded $25,000 in fees in addition to Leifer’s own legal defense costs, and the restauranteur realized an ADA-compliant ramp would eat up 25% of his business space, he closed down — and laid off eight employees.
               On the bright side, the New York Post visited Matatov a little over a week ago — and saw him walking. Neiman claimed he had no idea, and that he wasn’t into “fake lawsuits.”
               Maybe not, but there appears to be no downside to filing them, because as it is currently structured, the ADA is a serial litigator’s dream. In a column for The Hill, Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX) reveals just how rampant the abuse has become. “Serial Plaintiff Howard Cohan has filed 1,114 ADA Lawsuits since 2012, making him one of Florida’s most prolific ADA abusers,” Poe reveals. “What’s worse? He’s never visited many of the small businesses he has sued, instead hiding behind a computer, using mapping programs to determine if a business has an alleged violation.”
               Poe introduced a bill, “H.R. 620: ADA Education and Reform Act of 2017,” to address the problem. It would require a “notice and cure” period, whereby someone claiming discrimination must first provide written notice of the complaint to a business owner, who has 60 days to acknowledge the complaint’s receipt, and an additional 120 days before legal action can be undertaken. Despite pushback from dummycrats-Democrats, the bill passed the House by a 225-190 vote last February.
               Nonetheless, 43 dummycrats-Democrat senators  committed to oppose the legislation in April, making it clear they could filibuster any attempt to bring it to a vote. In a letter sent to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) they insisted H.R. 620 would do nothing to stop frivolous lawsuits due to “specific State laws that unlike title III of the ADA, authorize monetary damages.” dummycrats-Democrats further insisted H.R. 620 “gut” the ADA.
               Nonsense. A notice and cure period would have no impact whatsoever on state-imposed fines. It would merely put a crimp in a legal industry that generates income by targeting businesses with no option to become ADA-compliant before being subject to litigation. Fair-minded Americans might ask themselves why the same money businesses could use to remedy their deficiencies is better spent on serial shakedown artists and their equally rapacious attorneys.
               They might also ask themselves what thedummycrats- Democrat Party’s real motives are. Here’s a hint: political contributions by the legal industry (think trial lawyers) favored dummycrats-Democrats over Republicans by a 77% to 23% margin in 2018 — just as they have favored dummycrats- Democrats by similarly lopsided margins since 1990.
               Sensible reform would gut the ADA? Gut adummycrats- Democrat Party revenue stream is more like it.

             The question remains, “Are they?” The resistance made its first public appearance at the inauguration. Breaking windows, lighting cars on fire, and striking fear into those who attended the event, #resist certainly made the news. But does violence and vandalism “save democracy”?
               At the so-called Women’s March, angry attendees wore genitalia hats and costumes, while Madonna said she’d like to “blow up the White House.” Saving democracy? You can decide.
               Then came the congressional obstructions. As a bloc, Senate dummycrats-Democrats have slowed the confirmation process at an unprecedented level. A July 2018 report noted the striking differences between the confirmation of Trump’s nominations and the nominations of previous administrations. At a similar time in their presidencies, George H.W. Bush, liar-Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack liar-nObama had 80%, 84%, 72%, and 75% of their nominees confirmed, respectively. Trump has 57%.
               Consider the effect that slowing the confirmation process has on “democracy.” The democratic process gives power to representatives who vote on behalf of the people (which is why we’re a democratic republic, not a democracy). Obstruction challenges rather than supports this process.
               Obstructionism also negatively effects the people of this country. Having a government without the full staff of agency heads and other employees makes everything inefficient for the people. Additionally, obstruction hurts the American people by denying them qualified people in key positions.
               Consider the case of Andy Puzder, nominated for secretary of labor. The son of an immigrant, Puzder worked his way through law school and ultimately became CEO of CKE Restaurants, the parent company of Hardee’s and Carl’s Junior. He knows the value of hard work and understands how to unleash the productivity of the American worker.
               In his book, The Capitalist Comeback, Puzder recounts how protesters came to his front door, held a rally in his town, and drove a billboard through his neighborhood accusing him of abusing women. Perhaps the most alarming incident happened in the form of a mysterious package addressed to his wife. It contained white powder, a paper doll with a noose around its neck, and a pink piece of paper with the words “TRUMP.” Fortunately, no one was hurt.
               Sadly, Puzder withdrew his nomination after lack of support in the Senate. Did the protesting, intimidation, and obstruction “save” democracy?
               In any case, Rep. scumbag/mad-Maxine Waters advocated harassing Trump officials, meaning she evidently does think this wretched behavior “saves” democracy.
               The most recent blockade has been against Judge Brett Kavanaugh, a highly qualified jurist who sits on the DC Circuit Court. A graduate of Yale Law School, Kavanaugh also lectures at Harvard Law School (he was hired by Elena Kagan when she served as dean of the school). Lauded by Right and Left as a brilliant jurist, Judge Kavanaugh now faces baseless attacks on his character, his family, and his legal record. Isn’t obstructing a qualified jurist “endangering democracy”?
               Even the quintessential American sport, football, has been weaponized. The national anthem, long held as the symbol of unity for the American people, has been transformed into a political statement by those hoping to #resist. However, are these people resisting Trump, or American values? How does this “save democracy”?
               The resistance also calls for abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Perhaps the most visible has been the Occupy ICE campaigns, such as the Portland campaign, which left the protest area with blocks of trash, bottles, and used needles. Does protesting and trashing property “save democracy”?
               Many people have begun to question the validity of #resist and the ideology of those who support it. The #WalkAway movement has revealed an awakening of more traditional liberals who do not subscribe to violence, bigotry, and hateful distain for those with whom they disagree.
               As Ronald Reagan stated, “You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right. Well I’d like to suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There’s only an up or down: [up] man’s old — old-aged dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order, or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism.”
               Reagan understood that dividing lines did not fall between Right or Left. Rather, they fell between Liberty and tyranny. Returning to this basic understanding of America helps to shed light on what #resist represents. The resistance blockades the American people, American values, and American patriotism. The resistance subscribes to violence, lewdness, and bigotry. While considering themselves “progressives,” resistance members regress downward to a divided nation and a country that cannot move forward. Ultimately, they resist unity, democracy, and forward-thinking policy. Ironically, they #resist progress.
