Comer Asks DOJ to Delay Potential Hunter Biden Prosecution Until GOP Press Conference!-Posted on The Epoch Times-By Savannah Hulsey Pointer-On May 9, 2023:

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) has requested that the Justice Department postpone any potential Hunter Biden prosecution until Republicans hold a news conference on May 10.

The lawmaker’s plea came during a May 7 appearance on the Fox News program “Sunday Morning Futures,” where he cited forthcoming evidence about the Biden family’s financial transactions, saying officials shouldn’t prosecute until they hear from congressional leaders.

Comer claimed that the probable indictment might be inappropriate considering the anticipated disclosures.

“My message to the Department of Justice is very loud and clear. Do not indict Hunter Biden before Wednesday,” Comer said.

During the same show, host Maria Bartiromo played a previous clip where the lawmaker asserted that members of the Biden family had “received a lot of payments from the Chinese Communist Party.”

The host then pivoted toward information about the subpoena sent from Comer’s committee, where he asked for documents the committee believes will provide clarity about the current president’s possible criminal activity.

“When you have the opportunity to see the evidence that the House Oversight Committee will produce with respect to the web of LLCs, with respect to the number of adversarial countries that this family influence-peddled in, and this is not just about the president’s son,” the lawmaker said.

“This is about the entire Biden family, including the president of the United States. So we believe there are a whole lot of tips that the IRS and the DOJ don’t know about because we don’t believe they’ve done a whole lot of digging in this, and we have.”

Comer said he and other lawmakers had heard reports that the Department of Justice might charge Hunter Biden in a way that would amount to a “slap on the wrist,” which the lawmaker asserted would be a “drop in the bucket” compared to what his committee uncovered on proof of wrongdoing.

“Wednesday will be a very big day for the American people in getting the facts presented to them so that they can know the truth, and then the Department of Justice can finally do what they should have done years ago,” Comer said.

Upcoming Announcement

Republicans have announced they’ll hold a press conference on May 10 to provide the American public with additional information regarding the Biden family’s bank records, a briefing that Comer asserts will provide more insight into the investigation conducted by U.S. Attorney David Weiss.

The oversight committee chairman warned that the evidence the committee possesses implicates the Biden family in a larger, illicit “pay-for-play” bribery venture.

Comer said the information pertains to bank records, LLCs, and several financial transactions between members of the Biden family and foreign adversaries, and that the committee believes the connections and transactions are not coincidental.

Comer subpoenaed FBI Director Christopher Wray to testify and to produce a whistleblower document that describes an alleged criminal scheme in which Biden, as vice president, received money from a foreign national in exchange for certain policy decisions.

“We believe this was done in exchange for something that then-Vice President Biden—and now President Biden—would have done,” Comer said. “So this whistleblower is going to provide some very crucial information to our investigation. And we’ve given the FBI until May the 10th to produce this document, so the ball is in the FBI’s court with respect to this whistleblower.”

During a May 5 interview on MSNBC, the president said that his son “has done nothing wrong” and “I trust him. I have faith in him.”

The Epoch Times has reached out to the Department of Justice for comment.
