California Hikes Tuition on Citizens, Exempts Illegals

The system’s board of regents approved the proposal to increase out-of-state tuition by $978 by a 12-3 vote, The College Fix  reported, but California law allows illegal alien students to evade this charge by enrolling as in-state students. “All students — regardless of immigration status — are subject to the same tuition and fee structures, based on their residency status,” UC spokeswoman Clair Doan told The Fix. { townhall.com } ~ On many issues -- naming Scalia-like judges and backing Reagan-like tax cuts -- President Trump is a conventional Republican.

Where he was exceptional in 2016, where he stood out starkly from his GOP rivals, where he won decisive states like Pennsylvania, was on his uniquely Trumpian agenda to put America and Americans first -- from which the Bush Republicans recoiled.

Trump alone pledged to kill amnesty and secure the border with a 30-foot wall to halt the invasion of our country.

Trump alone pledged to end the de-industrialization of America and bring back our lost factories and lost jobs.

Trump alone pledged to end the democracy-crusading and extricate us from the endless Mideast wars into which George Bush, Barack liar-nObama and the War Party had plunged the nation.

And, upon how he delivers on these three uniquely Trumpian issues will hang his political fate and history's assessment of whether he was a good, great or failed president.

Where this city stands is not in doubt. It is salivating to see Trump's presidency broken, his agenda trashed, and him impeached. This city looks to Robert Mueller as the Moses of its deliverance from the tyrant whom an uncomprehending electorate imposed upon it.

While Trump's support among his deplorables is holding -- indeed, he is creeping back up in the polls -- the outcome of the battle to bring him down remains in doubt.

Consider. Trump's border wall was treated like a disposable bauble in the GOP Congress' $1.6 trillion budget deal. Cities and whole states are declaring themselves sanctuaries for people here illegally and defying U.S. authorities' requests for help in deporting accused criminals.

A "caravan" of a thousand Central Americans is passing through Mexico, aided by the authorities, and headed for the U.S. border.

When they arrive, rely upon it, the anti-Trump media will be there to bewail any transgressions by the Border Patrol.

The hysterical reaction to news that the 2020 census will include a question, "Are you a U.S. citizen?" testifies to what this is all about.

America's elites are adamant that our country should vanish inside a new Third World nation that resembles in its racial, religious and ethnic composition the U.N. General Assembly. The old God-and-country America the people loved they detest.

Trump is likely the last president who will try to preserve that country. If he leaves office with the border unsecured, it is hard to see what stops the Third World invasion, even as it is also coming across the Mediterranean into Europe.

"The Camp of the Saints" is no longer a dystopian novel.

Enoch Powell's warning, 50 years ago, about mass migration into Europe, "Et thybrim multo spumantem sanguine cerno," "I see the River Tiber foaming with much blood," is now seen as prophecy.

And Trump's agenda of economic nationalism -- restoring the industrial dynamism and self-sufficiency America knew from Lincoln to Reagan -- faces relentless hostility from institutionalized power.

Against Trump stand corporate elites, whose profits and stock options depend on producing outside America, and the managerial class of a New World Order that runs the EU, U.N., IMF, World Bank and WTO.

Yet if global elites are hoarding the largest slice of the wealth of nations and a goodly slice of their political power, one senses that they are an unloved crowd, and they are sitting on a volcano.

The third unique Trump issue was his commitment to extricate us from the Middle East wars into which Bush and liar-nObama had entrenched us, and to keep us out of any new wars. Trump also pledged to reach out to Vladimir Putin and to Russia to avoid a second Cold War.

Those who voted for him voted for that foreign policy.

And if Trump is drawn into new wars with Iran or North Korea, or reaches 2020 with U.S. forces still fighting in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Libya, he will be perceived as having failed.

Yet the resistance of this city to giving up its vision of U.S. global hegemony is broad and deep, for that vision is almost a defining mark of our foreign policy elites. For them to give it up would be like death itself.

The stunned reaction to Trump's suggestion last week that we will be leaving Syria after ISIS's caliphate is destroyed, testifies to how much their identify is tied up in this vision.

That Trump would accept an end to Syria's civil war, with Bashar Assad still in power, is intolerable. Yet how we can reverse that reality without putting thousands of U.S. combat troops into Syria is unexplained. In the last analysis, then, it is upon three questions that the Trump presidency will be judged:

Did he secure America's borders? Did he restore the industrial might of America? Did he take us out of and keep us out of any more neocon wars?

Trump: We Will Guard Our Border With Our Military

The "Moderate" Muslim Scholar Industry

If you follow it, you will find great success, more than you can imagine. It is very easy, all you have to do is stick to a few simple rules. No matter what your personal views are, you must be a Muslim apologist -- an apologist for radical Islam -- and present yourself as a 'moderate' Muslim scholar. If you can accomplish this, they will lap it up. You will never want for anything again. You will easily gain wealth and become the most in-demand 'moderate' Muslim scholar in the West!" It sounded reasonable enough. "As you have the advantage of being from the region," he continued, "you will come across as authentic." His advice was accurate. There is a huge industry of so-called "moderate" Muslim scholars, who are actually apologists for Islam. One Parkland Teen's Outsized Influence 

by Nate Jackson:  It is now evident that a 17-year-old Parkland student wields far more power than he should. The Leftmedia has made David Hogg the obnoxious voice of the anti-gun high-schooler crowd, and he’s busied himself viciously attacking Second Amendment supporters. He recently accused the NRA of being made up of “pathetic f—ers that want to keep killing our children.” He added, “It just makes me think what sick f—ers out there want to continue to sell more guns, murder more children, and honestly just get re-elected. What type of s—ty person does that?” No NRA member has ever perpetrated a mass shooting, and the NRA doesn’t sell guns. Candidates who are supported by the NRA receive money because they already support the Second Amendment, not as payment for their mercenary services. So aside from Hogg’s savage and vulgar attacks, he’s just plain wrong on the facts.

               Last week, Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who had previously hosted Hogg on her show, tweeted a link to a Daily Wire story, saying, “David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA…totally predictable given acceptance rates.)” It was a pretty innocuous tweet, even if it did hit him personally.
               Hogg quickly responded, “Soooo @IngrahamAngle what are your biggest advertisers … Asking for a friend. #BoycottIngramAdverts” Naturally, he soon thereafter produced a list, and at least 14 folded almost immediately, pulling ads from her show — even after she apologized. Ingraham promptly went on vacation.
               For his part, Hogg very ungraciously rejected Ingraham’s apology and called for her total and unconditional surrender instead: “An apology in an effort just to save your advertisers is not enough. I will only accept your apology only if you denounce the way your network has treated my friends and I [sic] in this fight. It’s time to love thy neighbor, not mudsling at children.” If this 17-year-old “child” can get on national TV to lie and besmirch the character of millions of Americans, he should expect a little bit of pushback.
               As The Washington Post marveled, “The swift results showcase the power that the Parkland survivors have, not just in organizing rallies but in spurring corporate America to act.” (For more on the term “survivors,” see Mark Alexander’s thoughts to correct that record.) But more to the point, it is astounding how these kids have been given a supposedly unassailable moral authority from which to push the agenda of their anti-Second Amendment backers. They are pawns in a much bigger game.
               In related news, CNN’s Joan Walsh berated Parkland student Kyle Kashuv, who supports the Second Amendment. No word on boycotting CNN advertisers.
               On a final note, this is a great example of why The Patriot Post does not accept advertising. We don’t wish to be at the mercy of corporations that are afraid of their own shadows and susceptible to these rabble-rousing boycotts.   ~The Patriot Post

A retired CIA Operations Officer that led the first CIA team into Iraq nine months in advance of the 2003 invasion, is endorsing Barry Donadio for his 2018 political campaign.

Sam Faddis is an Author, Commentator, Intelligence Expert, Former Maryland Congressional Candidate and a Former Candidate for U.S. Senate.

Don’t Be Alarmed But Radical Islamism Is 

Spreading In America’s Prisons On The Taxpayers’ Dime

In Britain it was recently revealed that Khalid Masood, who in March 2017 murdered five people and injured dozens more on Westminster bridge in an ISIS-inspired jihadi attack, had likely been radicalized during his time in British prisons by ‘self-styled emirs.’ In Australia, similar reports of ‘Jailhouse Jihad’ came out of the SuperMax Detention Center in New South Wales, where inmates are often violently coerced by their fellow Muslim inmates towards extreme and violent interpretations of Islam. Here in the United States, certain programs attempt to combat extremism behind prison walls, including the adoption of federally-appointed religious chaplains responsible for curating and distributing religious material to prisoners. But among the Muslim chaplains appointed by the Federal Bureau of Incarceration is one Mutahhir Sabree, who has served as an imam at prisons in Estill, Williamsburg, Bennettsville, and Edgefield, South Carolna; Jesup, Georgia; and Tallahassee and Mariana, Florida. Breaking Up the Public School Monopoly

               Every serious problem this nation currently endures can be traced back to a single source. To be blunt, we’re creating legions of useful idiots in public schools across America. At least two generations of Americans can no longer add and subtract simple numbers in their heads, know next to nothing about the nation’s history or government, and cast a jaundiced eye toward inalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution — all while remaining well-versed in progressive ideology. The time for complaining is over. It’s time to do something about it.
                "One of President Trump’s promises to the American people was that he would provide billions to fund private school choice for parents, especially low-income families,” writes columnist Glenn Delk. “By allocating zero dollars for school choice, congressional Republicans, in their $1.3 trillion spending bill, made it crystal clear, to both the President and families with school-age children, that they have no intention of ever fulfilling that promise. Given the congressional slap in the face, President Trump should now order Attorney General Sessions to file suit on behalf of the United States against all 50 states seeking to break up the monopoly known as public schools.”
               Americans should be clear on this point. Despite education being controlled by the states, public schools remain monopolistic, unionized fiefdoms of unaccountability that have promised — and failed — to deliver reform for over 40 years.
               And it shows. A 2017 Pew Research Center survey reveals that American 15-year olds who took the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) tests in 2015 finished in 24th place in science, 38th place in math, and 24th place in reading out of 73 countries. Marc Tucker, president of the National Center on Education and the Economy sounded the alarm, warning, “The United States cannot long operate a world-class economy if our workers are … among the worst-educated in the world.”
               Why did the decline occur? Tucker insists it’s because “the standards movement was stolen by the accountability movement.” In fact, he writes, “Facing tough sanctions from the federal government for low test scores, many states lowered whatever standards they had for high school students, so they could escape the consequences of poor student performance.”
               Thus, as he further reveals, “High school textbooks that used to be written at the 12th-grade level for 12th graders are now written at the 7th- or 8th-grade level,” and “many community college teachers do not assign much writing at all to their first-year students because they cannot write.”
               And as night follows day, the lowering of standards engendered the inevitable fraud necessary to maintain them. Two Google searches, “public schools issue worthless diplomas” and “public schools, grade fixing scandals” reveal the intentional dumbing-down of our nation’s youth to satisfy contemptible political interests has occurred all over the nation.
               Yet while education dies, progressive indoctrination flies. As columnist Daniel Greenfield reveals, schools in New York City, Minnesota,  Virginia and Missouri are force-feeding the Left’s “white privilege” agenda to kindergarten students. That agenda includes “separating whites in classes where they’re made to feel awful about their ‘whiteness,’ and all the ‘kids of color’ in other rooms where they’re taught to feel proud about their race and are rewarded with treats and other privileges,” the NY Post reports.
               Unsurprisingly, the transgender agenda has also been inflicted on kindergarteners in California, Washington and Minnesota. Moreover, California’s state legislature purposefully excluded “gender identity” from their parental opt-out requirements — meaning parents must either withdraw their child from school or allow them to be subjected to an agenda replete  with LGBT-inclusive textbooks.
               Civics? A 2017 report released by the National Association of Scholars reveals that U.S. civics education, “if it exists at all, is being transformed into a political machine to push left-wing causes, undermine American government, and incite civil unrest,” reveals The Federalist’s Joy Pullmann.
               Why do so many teachers embrace indoctrination masquerading as education? “Since the publication of the English edition in 1970, Pedagogy of the Oppressed has achieved near-iconic status in America’s teacher-training programs,” explained Manhattan Institute senior fellow Sol Stern in 2009. Stern further revealed how this “ed-school bestseller” serves the progressive agenda, noting that it is “a utopian political tract calling for the overthrow of capitalist hegemony and the creation of classless societies.”
               That is only part of the picture. When two Supreme Court  rulings  made in the ‘60s asserted Judeo-Christian ethics were an “establishment of religion” and removed them from the classroom, an intellectual/ethical vacuum was created. It was filled with the Left’s secular humanist worldview — one that became non-rebuttable as a result.
               This paradigm shift — despite the reality the Left’s socialist utopian agenda is as much a faith-based proposition as any religion — remains the status quo.
               Steven Calabresi, a Northwestern University law professor, and the Federalist Society’s chairman of the board, envisions a remedy. In a number of law review articles, he makes it clear that a system with a 90% market share that is sole recipient of state education funds is no different than 19th century monopolies. Monopolies outlawed by the 14th Amendment.
               Delk also reminds us that the Justice Department successfully ended monopolies enjoyed by the likes of Standard Oil, IBM, AT&T, and the airlines, and that the same pressure should be applied to public schools. He urges Trump to seek a Supreme Court decision ordering state governments to make vouchers available to any student who wants a private education — secular or religious.
               That would be a second Supreme court ruling in that regard. In the 1954 case, Brown v. Board of Education, SCOTUS unanimously ruled that education is “a right which must be made available on equal terms.”
               Ever since, “Big Ed” has made a mockery of that ruling, and Harvard Graduate School of Education Dean James Ryan spells out exactly why, stating, “Right now, there exist an almost ironclad link between a child’s ZIP code and his/her chances of success.”
               In 2013, Slate columnist Allison Benedikt revealed the Left’s genuine public school agenda, insisting that if “every single parent sent every single child to public school, public schools would improve,” she wrote. “This would not happen immediately. It could take generations … but it will be worth it, for the eventual common good.”
               Few things are more despicable than the notion one should sacrifice the future of one’s own children for the “common good.” Yet far too many public schools continue to embrace this socialist/Marxist worldview, along with the Left’s unrelenting effort to “fundamentally transform the United States of America” — one indoctrinated child after another.
               This de facto sedition must be met head on. While Sessions sues, Congress should hold nationally televised hearings and put the white-hot spotlight on “educators” who see nothing wrong with teaching children what to feel instead of how to think, or using them as cannon fodder for leftist political causes. That same spotlight should also shine on politicians who champion public schools — but put their own children in private ones.

Breaking Up the Public School Monopoly

               Every serious problem this nation currently endures can be traced back to a single source. To be blunt, we’re creating legions of useful idiots in public schools across America. At least two generations of Americans can no longer add and subtract simple numbers in their heads, know next to nothing about the nation’s history or government, and cast a jaundiced eye toward inalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution — all while remaining well-versed in progressive ideology. The time for complaining is over. It’s time to do something about it.
                "One of President Trump’s promises to the American people was that he would provide billions to fund private school choice for parents, especially low-income families,” writes columnist Glenn Delk. “By allocating zero dollars for school choice, congressional Republicans, in their $1.3 trillion spending bill, made it crystal clear, to both the President and families with school-age children, that they have no intention of ever fulfilling that promise. Given the congressional slap in the face, President Trump should now order Attorney General Sessions to file suit on behalf of the United States against all 50 states seeking to break up the monopoly known as public schools.”
               Americans should be clear on this point. Despite education being controlled by the states, public schools remain monopolistic, unionized fiefdoms of unaccountability that have promised — and failed — to deliver reform for over 40 years.
               And it shows. A 2017 Pew Research Center survey reveals that American 15-year olds who took the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) tests in 2015 finished in 24th place in science, 38th place in math, and 24th place in reading out of 73 countries. Marc Tucker, president of the National Center on Education and the Economy sounded the alarm, warning, “The United States cannot long operate a world-class economy if our workers are … among the worst-educated in the world.”
               Why did the decline occur? Tucker insists it’s because “the standards movement was stolen by the accountability movement.” In fact, he writes, “Facing tough sanctions from the federal government for low test scores, many states lowered whatever standards they had for high school students, so they could escape the consequences of poor student performance.”
               Thus, as he further reveals, “High school textbooks that used to be written at the 12th-grade level for 12th graders are now written at the 7th- or 8th-grade level,” and “many community college teachers do not assign much writing at all to their first-year students because they cannot write.”
               And as night follows day, the lowering of standards engendered the inevitable fraud necessary to maintain them. Two Google searches, “public schools issue worthless diplomas” and “public schools, grade fixing scandals” reveal the intentional dumbing-down of our nation’s youth to satisfy contemptible political interests has occurred all over the nation.
               Yet while education dies, progressive indoctrination flies. As columnist Daniel Greenfield reveals, schools in New York City, Minnesota,  Virginia and Missouri are force-feeding the Left’s “white privilege” agenda to kindergarten students. That agenda includes “separating whites in classes where they’re made to feel awful about their ‘whiteness,’ and all the ‘kids of color’ in other rooms where they’re taught to feel proud about their race and are rewarded with treats and other privileges,” the NY Post reports.
               Unsurprisingly, the transgender agenda has also been inflicted on kindergarteners in California, Washington and Minnesota. Moreover, California’s state legislature purposefully excluded “gender identity” from their parental opt-out requirements — meaning parents must either withdraw their child from school or allow them to be subjected to an agenda replete  with LGBT-inclusive textbooks.
               Civics? A 2017 report released by the National Association of Scholars reveals that U.S. civics education, “if it exists at all, is being transformed into a political machine to push left-wing causes, undermine American government, and incite civil unrest,” reveals The Federalist’s Joy Pullmann.
               Why do so many teachers embrace indoctrination masquerading as education? “Since the publication of the English edition in 1970, Pedagogy of the Oppressed has achieved near-iconic status in America’s teacher-training programs,” explained Manhattan Institute senior fellow Sol Stern in 2009. Stern further revealed how this “ed-school bestseller” serves the progressive agenda, noting that it is “a utopian political tract calling for the overthrow of capitalist hegemony and the creation of classless societies.”
               That is only part of the picture. When two Supreme Court  rulings  made in the ‘60s asserted Judeo-Christian ethics were an “establishment of religion” and removed them from the classroom, an intellectual/ethical vacuum was created. It was filled with the Left’s secular humanist worldview — one that became non-rebuttable as a result.
               This paradigm shift — despite the reality the Left’s socialist utopian agenda is as much a faith-based proposition as any religion — remains the status quo.
               Steven Calabresi, a Northwestern University law professor, and the Federalist Society’s chairman of the board, envisions a remedy. In a number of law review articles, he makes it clear that a system with a 90% market share that is sole recipient of state education funds is no different than 19th century monopolies. Monopolies outlawed by the 14th Amendment.
               Delk also reminds us that the Justice Department successfully ended monopolies enjoyed by the likes of Standard Oil, IBM, AT&T, and the airlines, and that the same pressure should be applied to public schools. He urges Trump to seek a Supreme Court decision ordering state governments to make vouchers available to any student who wants a private education — secular or religious.
               That would be a second Supreme court ruling in that regard. In the 1954 case, Brown v. Board of Education, SCOTUS unanimously ruled that education is “a right which must be made available on equal terms.”
               Ever since, “Big Ed” has made a mockery of that ruling, and Harvard Graduate School of Education Dean James Ryan spells out exactly why, stating, “Right now, there exist an almost ironclad link between a child’s ZIP code and his/her chances of success.”
               In 2013, Slate columnist Allison Benedikt revealed the Left’s genuine public school agenda, insisting that if “every single parent sent every single child to public school, public schools would improve,” she wrote. “This would not happen immediately. It could take generations … but it will be worth it, for the eventual common good.”
               Few things are more despicable than the notion one should sacrifice the future of one’s own children for the “common good.” Yet far too many public schools continue to embrace this socialist/Marxist worldview, along with the Left’s unrelenting effort to “fundamentally transform the United States of America” — one indoctrinated child after another.
               This de facto sedition must be met head on. While Sessions sues, Congress should hold nationally televised hearings and put the white-hot spotlight on “educators” who see nothing wrong with teaching children what to feel instead of how to think, or using them as cannon fodder for leftist political causes. That same spotlight should also shine on politicians who champion public schools — but put their own children in private ones.

               Steven Calabresi, a Northwestern University law professor, and the Federalist Society’s chairman of the board, envisions a remedy. In a number of law review articles, he makes it clear that a system with a 90% market share that is sole recipient of state education funds is no different than 19th century monopolies. Monopolies outlawed by the 14th Amendment.
               Delk also reminds us that the Justice Department successfully ended monopolies enjoyed by the likes of Standard Oil, IBM, AT&T, and the airlines, and that the same pressure should be applied to public schools. He urges Trump to seek a Supreme Court decision ordering state governments to make vouchers available to any student who wants a private education — secular or religious.
               That would be a second Supreme court ruling in that regard. In the 1954 case, Brown v. Board of Education, SCOTUS unanimously ruled that education is “a right which must be made available on equal terms.”
               Ever since, “Big Ed” has made a mockery of that ruling, and Harvard Graduate School of Education Dean James Ryan spells out exactly why, stating, “Right now, there exist an almost ironclad link between a child’s ZIP code and his/her chances of success.”
               In 2013, Slate columnist Allison Benedikt revealed the Left’s genuine public school agenda, insisting that if “every single parent sent every single child to public school, public schools would improve,” she wrote. “This would not happen immediately. It could take generations … but it will be worth it, for the eventual common good.”
               Few things are more despicable than the notion one should sacrifice the future of one’s own children for the “common good.” Yet far too many public schools continue to embrace this socialist/Marxist worldview, along with the Left’s unrelenting effort to “fundamentally transform the United States of America” — one indoctrinated child after another.
               This de facto sedition must be met head on. While Sessions sues, Congress should hold nationally televised hearings and put the white-hot spotlight on “educators” who see nothing wrong with teaching children what to feel instead of how to think, or using them as cannon fodder for leftist political causes. That same spotlight should also shine on politicians who champion public schools — but put their own children in private ones.

               Every serious problem this nation currently endures can be traced back to a single source. To be blunt, we’re creating legions of useful idiots in public schools across America. At least two generations of Americans can no longer add and subtract simple numbers in their heads, know next to nothing about the nation’s history or government, and cast a jaundiced eye toward inalienable rights guaranteed by the Constitution — all while remaining well-versed in progressive ideology. The time for complaining is over. It’s time to do something about it.
                "One of President Trump’s promises to the American people was that he would provide billions to fund private school choice for parents, especially low-income families,” writes columnist Glenn Delk. “By allocating zero dollars for school choice, congressional Republicans, in their $1.3 trillion spending bill, made it crystal clear, to both the President and families with school-age children, that they have no intention of ever fulfilling that promise. Given the congressional slap in the face, President Trump should now order Attorney General Sessions to file suit on behalf of the United States against all 50 states seeking to break up the monopoly known as public schools.”
               Americans should be clear on this point. Despite education being controlled by the states, public schools remain monopolistic, unionized fiefdoms of unaccountability that have promised — and failed — to deliver reform for over 40 years.
               And it shows. A 2017 Pew Research Center survey reveals that American 15-year olds who took the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) tests in 2015 finished in 24th place in science, 38th place in math, and 24th place in reading out of 73 countries. Marc Tucker, president of the National Center on Education and the Economy sounded the alarm, warning, “The United States cannot long operate a world-class economy if our workers are … among the worst-educated in the world.”
               Why did the decline occur? Tucker insists it’s because “the standards movement was stolen by the accountability movement.” In fact, he writes, “Facing tough sanctions from the federal government for low test scores, many states lowered whatever standards they had for high school students, so they could escape the consequences of poor student performance.”
               Thus, as he further reveals, “High school textbooks that used to be written at the 12th-grade level for 12th graders are now written at the 7th- or 8th-grade level,” and “many community college teachers do not assign much writing at all to their first-year students because they cannot write.”
               And as night follows day, the lowering of standards engendered the inevitable fraud necessary to maintain them. Two Google searches, “public schools issue worthless diplomas” and “public schools, grade fixing scandals” reveal the intentional dumbing-down of our nation’s youth to satisfy contemptible political interests has occurred all over the nation.
               Yet while education dies, progressive indoctrination flies. As columnist Daniel Greenfield reveals, schools in New York City, Minnesota,  Virginia and Missouri are force-feeding the Left’s “white privilege” agenda to kindergarten students. That agenda includes “separating whites in classes where they’re made to feel awful about their ‘whiteness,’ and all the ‘kids of color’ in other rooms where they’re taught to feel proud about their race and are rewarded with treats and other privileges,” the NY Post reports.
               Unsurprisingly, the transgender agenda has also been inflicted on kindergarteners in California, Washington and Minnesota. Moreover, California’s state legislature purposefully excluded “gender identity” from their parental opt-out requirements — meaning parents must either withdraw their child from school or allow them to be subjected to an agenda replete  with LGBT-inclusive textbooks.
               Civics? Ballooning Costs May Force USAF to Cut F-35 Orders 

by National Security Desk:  If the U.S. Air Force can’t figure out a way trim operational and support cost for its F-35 fighter jets by 38%, then it may have to cut the current order from Lockheed Martin by a third, or 590 aircraft. Bloomberg reports, “The long-term support concerns are on top of current F-35 challenges including parts shortages, unavailable aircraft and technical issues that must be solved as the program ends its 17-year development phase. In September, the F-35 is to begin as much as a year of rigorous combat testing that’s required by law. Successful testing would trigger full-rate production, the most profitable phase for Lockheed, as soon as late 2019.”

               Half of the operations costs are due to support expenditures tied to Lockheed’s “program management, depot maintenance, part repair, software maintenance and engineering,” noted Air Force spokesman Ann Stefanek, and costs “are growing with the increase in flight hours.”
               The Pentagon has plans to use the F-35 fighter through 2070, and it estimates that maintenance costs alone for the jet will top $1.1 trillion over that period. In other words, it’s expensive. The question is whether the F-35 is worth the ballooning cost. U.S. allies, who also have orders in for the fighter, are asking the same question. Stephen Lovegrove, Great Britain’s No. 2 civilian defense official, expressed his government’s frustration, telling reporters recently, “I am constantly being asked by parliamentarians in the UK what the total cost is going to be and they are sometimes, understandably, a bit frustrated when I have to tell them, ‘at the moment nobody is entirely sure.’”

               The real lesson here is that bureaucracy and cronyism don’t make for cost-effective measures. Leftmedia's Deliberate Mischaracterization of Christianity 

by Thomas Gallatin:  From National Public Radio to NBC News to CNN, the mainstream media’s ignorant misrepresentation of basic and central Christian beliefs and doctrines would be understandable if it wasn’t for the fact that Christianity is the religion practiced by some 70% of Americans. On Good Friday, NPR published an article that addressed a report that Pope Francis had denied the existence of hell. NPR originally described Easter as “the day celebrating the idea that Jesus did not die and go to hell or purgatory or anywhere at all, but rather arose into heaven.” After receiving much deserved blowback, NPR corrected the piece to read, “Easter — the day Christians celebrate Jesus’ Resurrection.” How could NPR get one of the most foundational beliefs of Christianity so terribly wrong?

               Far worse, NBC News marked the sacred occasion with a piece entitled, “On Easter Sunday, Christians must remember how easily and often our faith is used to defend white supremacy.” The article relays a story of a bunch of white southern racists who murdered several blacks and other defenders of Reconstruction one Easter Sunday in 1873 in Colfax County, Louisiana. It is indeed a horrific story, but it is far from emblematic of Christian beliefs or practices. And it was 145 years ago. Ironically, the article does exactly what it condemns — it seeks to co-opt the Christian message, ignoring its central teachings, so as to promote an anti-Donald Trump pro-leftist political cause. The question once again is how did the MSM get the Christian doctrine of Easter this wrong?
               But then there was what may have been the worst understanding of Easter — this one from CNN. In an article titled, “How Easter became a #MeToo moment,” which was not listed as an opinion piece, author John Blake asserted that Jesus was a victim of sexual humiliation as a result of being hung naked on the cross, and therefore “if linking the Easter story with the #MeToo movement is offensive and bewildering to some, perhaps that is fitting.” Additionally, Mary Magdalene was a #MeToo victim of male authority. Blake continued, “The Easter stories in the Gospels have a jarring, unexpected quality about them as well. … The stories are enigmatic and elusive. They continue to yield surprises even 2,000 years later. They are, in some ways, much like the figure of Jesus himself.” While attempting to sound profound, Blake reveals once again a shocking amount of ignorance of what Easter is actually all about.
               A journalist should be primarily concerned with accurately reporting the news, not promoting an agenda. However, the vast majority of MSM reporters have committed themselves to the promotion of the “progressive” cause. And in so doing, they have created simplistic and flawed caricatures of those they revile, like Christians. Then speaking as if they fully grasp the true motives and beliefs of those they oppose, they label them foolish and backwards. As the Apostle Paul astutely predicted, “The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Cor. 1:18).
               Christianity is not about promoting white supremacy, a political agenda or as a means of awakening Americans to some “social justice” cause. The message of Easter is that Christ accomplished what He came into the world to do — defeat sin and death and rescue sinners from hell. All who believe in Jesus can rest in certain hope that they like Him will one day rise from the grave and live with Him in Heaven forever, having been fully forgiven and cleansed from all their sins. Ted Kennedy's 'Darkest Hour' Hits the Big Screen 

by Michael Swartz:  If it weren’t for a missed turn on a dark night, Ted Kennedy may well have been president during the 1970s. Instead, the nation was rocked in the summer of 1969 by yet another tragedy involving the Kennedy family, and that accident has become the subject of a new movie to be released Friday simply called “Chappaquiddick.”

               A few years back, Mark Alexander summed up the accident on that fateful summer night in 1969: On the night of 18 July, Kennedy left a party [on Massachusetts’ Chappaquiddick Island] with an attractive young intern en route to a private secluded beach on the far side of Dike Bridge. Kennedy lost control on the single-lane bridge and his vehicle overturned in the shallow tidal water.
               Kennedy freed himself from the vehicle, leaving his passenger, 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne, to suffocate in an air pocket inside the overturned car. Nine hours later, after sobering up and conferring with political advisors and lawyers, Kennedy called authorities to report the incident. Kopechne’s body had already been discovered.
               To produce the new film about that fateful night, the creative team of writers Taylor Allen and Andrew Logan, director John Curran, and Kennedy portrayer Jason Clarke leaned heavily on a 763-page inquest released the year following Kopechne’s death. This decision confines the narrative to the short time period between the night of the accident and Kennedy’s nationally televised mea culpa a few days later after he received nothing more than a suspended sentence from a local judge for leaving the scene of an accident.
               So while critic Todd McCarthy of the Hollywood Reporter laments  that Allen and Logan “have done their homework in organizing the material but haven’t brought an argument to the table that might have zapped the film to life,” others analyzing the film are relieved that the treatment of Kennedy wasn’t overly dramatic.
               Director Curran contends that the perspective on the film will vary with one’s politics. “I realize that in this climate a viewer’s reaction to the film will be largely based on the political prism they watch it through. In that sense I endeavored to strike a very non-partisan, factual tone.” But that’s a bit of a cop-out, because the major facts of the story aren’t in dispute. As we have often said over the years, Kopechne’s life was snuffed out and Ted Kennedy spent the rest of his life trying to live down his decision to flee the scene. (As CNN put it to the derision of many Twitter followers, Chappaquiddick was “one of” Kennedy’s darkest hours.) We learned that the “Lion of the Senate” was cowardly when it most counted.
               Because this incident was nearly a half-century ago and practically all of the major characters have passed away, it’s a wonder Chappaquiddick the movie was ever made at all. It did bring out the excuse to retell the Kopechne side by replaying a 1991 interview with a family member, but this morality tale reminds us of a bygone era where secrets could be kept secret.
               As the reviewer McCarthy notes, “It’s impossible to watch this film without imagining how such an incident would be covered today; very likely, the young woman would not have died had there been cellphones, as she was apparently still alive in the submerged car for at least two hours, maybe three or four. But even more astounding was Ted Kennedy’s not reporting the incident for 10 hours, then the fact that a story that otherwise would have provided endless headlines became an afterthought when the first moon landing took place two days later.”
               No one is expecting great things from this movie; in fact, it was bumped back from an original plan for a limited release late last year at a time when award-seeking movies are put out. But it is a reminder about how bad decisions can last a lifetime, even when you’re in a position where they can be covered up. While Ted Kennedy died in 2009 still in office as the senior senator from Massachusetts — having been re-elected seven times after the accident — the 1980 Democrat primary season was the closest he ever came to the presidential brass ring. Despite winning 12 states in the process, Kennedy was soundly beaten by Jimmy Carter at the Democrat convention, finally conceding the nomination there.
               If Ted Kennedy were made of sterner stuff, maybe he would have freed Mary Jo Kopechne and the incident would have been soon forgotten, or even spun into an act of heroism guaranteeing a return to Camelot in the 1972 or 1976 presidential election. Whatever the results would have been for the nation, that’s surely a version of life’s movie Mary Jo’s grieving family would have preferred.   ~The Patriot Post

{ tommclaughlin.blogspot.com } ~ One does not expect to see a stunning work of art at the town dump, but there it was — a stainless steel oak tree about fourteen feet tall. The dump attendant said nobody was sure what to do with it, so there it sat between the garage and the scrap wood pile. Knowing who made the tree I drove over to Rod Iron Designs and asked Rod Blood and his son Merton what their tree was doing at the dump.

I’ve learned that I need a couple of hours if I’m going to talk to them because they like to visit. They told me the tree was first assigned to another artist who didn’t get too far on it so the patron, now deceased, asked them to finish it. They did, and the result is astounding. The patron was quite pleased and his tree was delivered to a hillside perch near his house in Lovell. Upon his death he wanted Rod to give it to either the Town of Lovell or to Fryeburg Academy but neither entity could decide whether to accept it so there it sat at the dump.

Merton plans the next move

Metal is cold and hard, but doesn’t seem so after Rod Blood and his son Merton work it. They’re artists who use iron or steel as their medium. They’ll do utilitarian repairs if asked and that’s what Rod did for decades working for others. His creative work was a sideline until some years ago when he dove in full time as “Rod Iron Designs.” Now he and Mert have more work than they can handle at their shop near Kezar Lake in Lovell.

Outside the Portland Museum of Art stand metal sculptures like the one above which don’t appeal to me, but indicate the museum’s interest in the genre. If neither Lovell nor Fryeburg Academy appreciated the tree, I figured maybe the museum would. I took several pictures of it and sent them to a trustee I know. He was impressed — even more so after driving over to see it. He sent the pictures to the museum’s director, Mark Bessire, who contacted me. I told him of a smaller oak tree the Maine Medical Center commissioned the Bloods to create which now stands next to the hospital’s main entrance just down Congress Street from the Museum. Bessire said he would walk over and check it out.

The trunk and branches of the small tree are stainless steel, but it’s in full foliage with each individual leaf fashioned of copper oxidized to green. The tree is only about four or five feet tall but it’s perched on a pedestal with roots grasping outcrops of feldspar and quartz the Bloods dug out of the hills of western Maine. After seeing photographs of the hospital tree at their workshop I believed I could take better ones. I tried every angle, with flash and without, but was frustrated by the sterile setting. The tree is beautiful but it’s surrounded on all sides by concrete, glass, aluminum, or brick — and not well lit either. It would look much better just inside the entrance in the main lobby.

Rod and Mert were flattered that the Portland Museum of Art was interested in the bigger tree, but not sure how to proceed if neither Lovell nor Fryeburg Academy wanted it. Rod felt the weight of his deceased patron’s wishes and his obligation to fulfill them. It was an honor thing, a duty. Shortly thereafter, however, Lovell’s Board of Selectmen finally decided the tree could be placed at the site of the former Annie Heald School in Lovell Village next to the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library. There it stands today.

The morning after an ice storm last January it was completely glazed over. So were the trees around it and all were backlit by the rising sun. For a few hours the metal tree was indistinguishable from its natural neighbors.

More people would have been able to see and appreciate the tree if it were next to the museum in Portland's Congress Square, but I’m glad it’s in Lovell. Both its artists and its patron are from here and this is where it belongs. I would, however, question why there’s a big pile of riprap stones around its base hiding so much of the trunk. It’s not as if the tree is going to be blown down by wind. It can’t have been placed there for aesthetic reasons, can it? I hope it's not a permanent arrangement.

An Army of 1,500 Illegals Is Marching Through Mexico To The U.S.

Tweet Alleging Racism In Voter Fraud Sentencing Is Bogus

The Hill reporter Reid Wilson laid out four examples of voter fraud convictions; three of the offenders were white and one was black. None of the  three white defendants received sentences greater than three years of probation while the black defendant in Texas received a five-year prison sentence. Here’s why: The black defendant, 43-year-old Crystal Mason, is a convicted felon who was on probation when she committed the voter fraud, while the three white defendants had no criminal history. Mason had been on supervised release following a 2011 fraud conviction when she and her ex-husband pleaded guilty to inflating their Internal Revenue Service tax returns. But even those hacks might be able to win the midterms and keep hope alive for the resurrection of the America we love. It’s all thanks to the aggressive scumminess of our leftist enemies – and yeah, anyone proposing to take my God-given rights to speak, worship, and defend myself, and/or my life, all of which they have recently told me they seek to take, is my enemy. 

After the groveling cave that was the Omnibust, many of us were completely demoralized and ready to toss in the towel. The Fredoconswere delighted, their dream of a return to relevance and power seemingly within reach once the people these rubes, hicks, and upstarts elected get booted out of office. The Democrats were giddy. But fortunately, the Democrat establishment is even dumber than the GOP establishment. They and their liberal media pals immediately decided to push the Junior Red Guards to the forefront and, joined by an ancient and silly former Supreme Court justice writing in the New York Times, demand that we give up our guns.

We noticed, despite Chris “Fredo but not -con" Cuomo’s bizarre denial that anyone wanted to repeal the Second Amendment when people were saying they wanted to repeal the Second Amendment right to our faces. 

Oh boy, did we ever notice. And we also saw that these people were not just intent on leaving us disarmed – they wanted us silenced too. They demanded we sit quietly as the Junior Commissars led the show trial against us, convicting us of having blood on our hands for things we didn’t do. They freaked out that Kevin Williamson got a gig at the Atlantic. And they tried to drive Laura Ingraham off the air. But hey, I bet they’ll totally respect our civil rights once we are disarmed and they have a monopoly on force. 

Chet the Unicorn will totally take that bet.

So, the last few weeks showed us what we seemed to have forgotten – that this is an existential struggle, currently cold but due to leftist stupidity and malice it could possibly turn hot, between Normal Americans who demand their civil rights and a say in their own governance, and a liberal-leaning elite that considers Normals’ interests illegitimate and wants us silenced and submissive in the face of their unchallenged rule over our lives.

Thanks for dropping the mask, you libfascist creeps. The future they want is Venezuela II: Welcome to Serfdom. Now we Normals are once again motivated to stop you from goosestepping the United States down the road to tyranny. 

So, we’re pumped and ready, and if you’ve seen the President speak lately, you know he is too His CPAC speech made it clear that this uber-competitor has no intention of losing in November. But now the Republicans in Washington need to get out of their gimp boxes and act. 

Take notice, GOPe: If you want to keep your jobs, you need to stop going on vacation and perform.

Mitch McConnell gets a lot of grief I think he’s usually a savvy legislative knife fighter, though many of people I respect disagree, yet it’s indisputable that he could convert himself from base zero to base hero overnight. All he has to do is step up to the mic and say, “Starting at 8 a.m. Saturday morning we begin the 30 hours of debate on America’s next ambassador to Germany Ric Grenell. I’d advise my friends across the aisle to bring their sleeping bags n’ jammies because we will go one nominee after another, 24/7, until either all the President’s nominees are confirmed or they agree to unanimous consent to proceed on final votes. The horse hockey stops now.”

And then he needs to do it.

Conservatives would be seeking a smoke and a cuddle. The other side? Not so much. The herd of motley Democrats running in red states is not going to dig being cooped up in the Capitol for weeks on end without a chance to go home and lie to their Normal voters about how they don’t morph into liberal ventriloquist dummies for Chuck clown-Schumer the second they touch down at Reagan National. This means the Grenell Gambit has two political benefits, as well as the patriotic benefit of getting us a terrific ambassador in continental Europe’s most important country. It pumps up our side’s morale because we see the GOPe not taking anymore…guff…from these hacks. That’s huge, and would go a long way to getting some base confidence back in Mitch McConnell. Plus it makes it harder on the Democrats holding seats we want to win. 

So it’s a two-fer.

But let’s make it even harder on the other side. They want to talk about guns? Let’s talk about guns. 

Democrats, particularly ones from America, say they believe in the right to keep and bear arms? Great, let’s let them prove it. How about Paul Ryan get someone to introduce a bill called “The Right to Defend American Families and Freedom Act” that says, “In addition to the individual right to keep and bear arms cited the Second Amendment, this Act separately provides that all law-abiding, healthy adults have an individual right to keep and bear effective firearms for lawful activities including sporting activities and to defend themselves, their families, their communities and their Constitution.” And it should provide for attorney’s fees award and litigation priority for any American citizen forced to sue to secure his rights.

Let’s see the Democrats sweat when called on to vote on that one. See, we need to give them hard, painful choices designed to either allow us to enact laws to protect the rights of us Normals, or to put the fake-Blue Dog Dems in the agonizing stress position of having to vote against such popular laws – which our candidates will promptly jam down their throats in November. 

Here are some more proposed laws we should force them to go on record about. Gotta love that expansive liberal reading of the Commerce Clause!

“The Protect American Workers Act.” Let’s allow American workers denied jobs that have been filled by illegal aliens the right to sue the hiring companies for damages, penalties, and their attorney’s fees. Oh, and while we’re at it, we can add a provision that if you have stolen an American citizen’s identity while here illegally, you can never become a legal resident, and your pathway to citizenship leads back to that hellhole you’re actually a citizen of.

Gosh, Dems, why do you hate American workers?

“The Transparency In Social Media Anti-Censorship Act.” We must demand transparency and adherence to their terms of service, so let’s impose some due process requirements. If Facetwittergram decides to censor, suppress, or otherwise treat a person differently in any way because of his political views, it must clearly and publicly disclose exactly how the terms of service were violated, what the company did, and why it did it in a formal letter while providing rights of appeal for the user through private arbitration at the company’s sole expense (A private arbitration for even a minor matter costs in the five figures minimum). A winning user would recover his fees – but not a winning company. One-way fee awards are very common in civil rights and consumer cases so as to encourage individual citizens to protect their rights, you know.

Oh, and the company must eliminate all retained data from the individual kicked off – that seems only fair that the tech company can’t keep the data if the user can’t keep his account. Identifying and scrubbing all the collected data would be a huge hassle and therefore disincentivize online fascism. 

And if the tech company fails to do any of this precisely as required by law, or acts outside its terms of service, uh oh. Then individuals can sue in court and be entitled to substantial penalties for violations, along with one-way attorney’s fees. You know all those lawsuits under the Americans with Disabilities Act that result in urinals being hung on the wall at ankle level? That, but against social media censors. 

Gosh, Dems, why do you side with big tech companies against American citizens just trying to have their say? 

“The Discrimination Against Citizens Exercising Their Constitutional Rights Act.” Tired of big corporations – who are overwhelmingly not conservative but are, in fact, undeniably led by members of the liberal elite – using their power to trample our rights? Let’s outlaw the current trend of companies like Citibank that seek to use their corporate power over society’s infrastructure to limit Normal Americans’ exercise of their rights. Once again, let’s turn the lawyers on them! { townhall.com } ~ Judging by the rhetoric coming out of Tehran, John Bolton’s appointment as America’s National Security Advisor is the worst thing that ever happened. 

The Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council labeled Bolton’s appointment “a matter of shame.”  

The Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy declared, "The use of hardline elements against the Islamic Republic of Iran shows that the Americans seek to exert more pressure on Iran.”

First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri opined, “They US officials are wrong to assume that the Iranian nation will give in to their threats against the Islamic Republic.”  

The Fars News Agency, the mouthpiece of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) editorialized, “Bolton advocates a foreign policy that exaggerates threats, belittles diplomacy, shows contempt for international institutions, and is quick to use violence… Bolton wants to shred the Iran nuclear deal and bomb Iran, whose policy has consistently favored stability…. Experts and policy-makers in Tehran see the Trump theater as no more than a bluff as the U.S. lacks the needed economic, political and military potentials and legitimacy to go for yet another adventurism in the world.”  

Iran’s protests validate the wisdom of making John Bolton America’s National Security Advisor. If Iran thinks he’s bad, he must be good. One thing is certain: the United States will no longer pursue a policy of appeasement toward the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

Since 2008, U.S. policymakers have been bending over backwards to accommodate the mullahs in Tehran. President liar-nObama’s decision to withdraw U.S. forces from Iraq left that country at the mercy of Iran. liar-nObama’s capitulation in Syria allowed Iran and Russia to keep Assad in power and to wantonly massacre hundreds of thousands of Syrians with impunity. The lifting of sanctions as part of the nuclear deal put $150 billion into the pockets of Iran’s leaders, which they have used to finance the terrorist depredations of the IRGC and to bankroll their proxies in Lebanon, Yemen and Bahrain.

Iran’s regional neighbors are not the only ones who have suffered from the revolutionary fervor of the Islamic Republic’s leaders. Iran is the most repressive country in the Middle East. It executes more of its citizens, per capita, than any other country in the world. Ninety percent of all executions throughout the Middle East take place in Iran. The recent uprisings in over 140 cities throughout Iran show that the people are sick to death of this theocratic dictatorship. They long for freedom, justice, democracy and the rule of law.

Whatever flaws one might ascribe to John Bolton, inconsistency is not among them. He has been advocating a tough policy toward Tehran for the past two decades. Struan Stevenson, a former member of the European Parliament from Scotland, put it best when he wrote of Bolton’s appointment: “Chamberlain’s policy encouraged Hitler to go to war. liar-nObama’s Iran policy encouraged the regime to export its terrorism and meddling in the region. There is only one way to stop the current conflicts and wars in the region:  adopting a firm line with the Iranian regime and supporting the popular uprising for a democratic change in Iran.”

With John Bolton, America finally has a senior official who will translate these wise words into action. 

Critics in Iran and the United States have condemned Bolton’s affiliation with the exiled Iranian opposition group, the Mujahedin-e Khalq (PMOI/MEK). Here, John Bolton is in good company. A bipartisan group of American luminaries and international leaders have lent their support to the group. They include, among others, Senators Joe Lieberman and Bob Torricelli; Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Speaker Newt Gingrich; retired Generals James Jones, Hugh Shelton, and James Conway; former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge; former Attorney General Mike Mukasey; former FBI Director Louis Freeh; former Democratic National Committee Chairs Ed Rendell and Howard Dean; former Ambassadors Bill Richardson, Lincoln Bloomfield Jr., Marc Ginsberg, and Kenneth Blackwell; former French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner; former Italian Foreign Minister Giulio Terzi; former Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird, and former Algerian Prime Minister Sid Ahmed Ghozali.

Support for opposition political movements is not a crime, and the United States has a long history of helping the victims of political persecution. Over the course of four months, during the summer of 1988, the Iranian regime executed an estimated 30,000 men, women and juveniles who had been imprisoned for their affiliation with MEK. During Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq, the U.S. Government pursued a policy of protecting MEK members there from attack by Iranian-affiliated forces.

On at least two issues, there should be no doubt: accommodating the Iranian regime will not bring peace to the region and the people of Iran want change. With John Bolton at the helm of the National Security Council, there is at last a glimmer of hope that the period of appeasement is over and that the mullahs’ days are numbered.

At least 10 of the 15 killed at Gaza border

The army said that its sharpshooters targeted only those taking explicit violent action against Israeli troops or trying to break through or damage the security fence. Video footage showed that in one case a rioter, whom the army included in its list of Hamas members, appeared to be shot while running away from the border. Iraq's Christians: Eighty Percent Have "Disappeared"

Iraq happens to be "ground zero" for the "elimination" of Christians from the pages of history. Iraqi Christian clergymen recently wore a black sign as a symbol of national mourning for the last victims of the anti-Christian violence: a young worker and a whole family of three. "This means that there is no place for Christians," said Father Biyos Qasha of the Church of Maryos in Baghdad. "We are seen as a lamb to be killed at any time". A few days earlier, Shiite militiamen discovered a mass grave with the bodies of 40 Christians near Mosul, the former stronghold of the Islamic State and the capital of Iraqi Christianity. The bodies, including those of women and children, seemed to belong to Christians kidnapped and killed by ISIS. Many had crosses with them in the mass grave. Not a single article in the Western mainstream media wrote about this ethnic cleansing...

Hogg's tantrum boycott about to crash headlong into a bigger one

{ americanthinker.com } ~ Laura Ingraham apologized for a rude tweet about David Hogg's inability to get into the college of his choice, and, as may be expected of someone who's demonstrated both childishness and leftism... he refused to graciously accept, opportunistically coming up instead with a counter-demand for more apologies on unrelated matters, ahead of yet another counter-demand for more groveling if Ingraham were to be naïve enough to follow that, which I trust she won't. It was done with Hogg's full knowledge that his "friend "asking for a friend", who "wanted" and probably came up with the swift list of Ingraham's advertisers, had begun pulling ads from Ingraham's Fox News show.  At least a dozen of them pulled out in a show of solidarity for Hogg's hurt feelings over his inability to get into the college of his choice. The immaturity shown here sends a signal now to the public as to why he otherwise inexplicably didn't get into the college of his choice. Can you see how this guy would act if he didn't get the grade of his choice from his professor at one of these places if he somehow were to be allowed in? What if he didn't get the girlfriend of his choice, or the dorm of his choice, or the honors roll of his choice, or the school paper's editor job? It would be logical to infer that he'd be out calling for boycotts of the school from the school's donors if he didn't get the whatever of his choice. How much easier it would be to just grow up and be a man about the whole thing, starting with the admissions rejections. That's the prospect staring down at President Donald Trump who says he wants to remake U.S. foreign policy, but doesn't have a fully staffed army of diplomats and national security figures to lead the charge.

Trump fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson two weeks ago and nominated CIA Director Mike Pompeo to replace him. Even if a speedy confirmation puts Pompeo in charge at Foggy Bottom in short order, he'll end up as the boss of a lot of empty seats.

The American Foreign Service Association lists 188 ambassadorial positions, but fewer than 75 have been filled. The administration has failed to name individuals to fill the usual ambassador positions except for a number in the high 30s, according to the administration.

The White House points the finger at the antics of Senate Democrats for slow-walking the confirmation of able administration picks.

"A stunning 43 percent of the president's highly qualified nominees are still waiting for confirmation in the Senate," Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said of the overall pool of unconfirmed nominees during a recent briefing. Senate Minority Leader Chuck clown-Schumer's "tactics have led to 102 fewer confirmations than the next closest administration."

Observe the Democrats' treatment of Richard Grenell, whom Trump's nominated to be ambassador to Germany in September. Grenell is clearly qualified. A frequent Fox News contributor, he ably served as spokesman to four U.S. ambassadors to the United Nations from 2001 to 2008.

In 2012, Grenell served as national security spokesman for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney -- which made him the first openly gay spokesman for a GOP presidential hopeful -- before he resigned amid objections from social conservatives. His confirmation would be a win for gay Republicans, which one would expect to be embraced by Democrats who support gay rights.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee advanced Grenell in October. Then nothing happened.

Republicans complained that the Democrats' use of secret "holds" prevented them from knowing which Senate Democrat stood in Grenell's way.

It wasn't until March 22, when Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., asked the Senate to approve a floor vote on Grenell, that a name presented itself. Sen. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., effectively blocked the vote. Under Senate "cloture" rules, one objection can delay a confirmation vote until after 30 hours of debate. Those 30 hours of debate mean real work doesn't get done.

Merkley explained he objected to Grenell's "lengthy track record of tweets attacking both prominent Democratic and prominent Republican women," as well as his tweets that were "dismissive of the Russian threat."

Merkley also has criticized Trump for taking so long to nominate diplomats in troubled regions.

Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., also has faulted the Trump administration for slamming Democrats' delay tactics while the president neglected to nominate individuals for a large tranche of posts.

To be sure, the Trump White House has been slower than other recent administrations to name individuals to key posts. Trump has yet to nominate an ambassador to South Korea, even as he prepares for negotiations with North Korean strongman Kim Jong Un, thanks to an invitation transmitted by Seoul diplomats.

The process of vetting potential appointees and clearing would-be ambassadors with host nations has become so time-consuming that this administration cannot move as swiftly as past White Houses moved, an administration official maintained. Also, when senior level aides are frozen, the positions below them are held up as well.

The bottom line, noted McConnell spokesman Don Stewart, is, "The Democrats have gone out of their way to block even the most highly qualified nominees that the president has put forward and it has caused necessary delay for our foreign service and national security around the world."

Put another way: Trump is taking the slow route because he's a non-politician trying to put other novices in the government. Senate Democrats are dragging confirmations precisely because they are political animals.

Rules designed to make the Senate a more deliberative body have been perverted to make the Senate nastier and less effective.

When President Barack liar-nObama owned the Oval Office, Democrats complained about Republican obstructionism. Now they extol obstructionism as resistance.

Sen. James Lankford, R-Okla., sees a pattern in cloture votes on nominations in the Senate. There were 12 overall from 1949 to 1992, then nine in 2005, then more than 13 a year from 2009 to 2012. In 2017, there were 63 cloture votes.

"We all know the direction of this body," Lankford told the Senate last year. When the Democrats next win the White House, "Republicans will say they did 63 to us, we'll do 120 to them."

There is a way to put an end to Senate rule antics. In 2013, when liar-nObama controlled the White House, Senate Republicans helped pass a resolution to reduce post-cloture debate time from 30 hours to eight hours for most executive branch nominees. Lankford wants the Senate to pass another such measure to stop the monkey wrenches through 2018, and let nominees rise with 51 votes or fall without them.

They've made it too easy to get nothing done.

Palestinian Government Still Paying Terrorists 

With U.S. Taxpayer Funds, Defying U.S. Law

Palestinian officials in recent days have rejected a new U.S. law, known as the Taylor Force Act, or TFA, that bans the PA government from providing salaries to terrorists and their families, a longstanding policy that had become the center of controversy after it was found U.S. taxpayer aid dollars to the Palestinians had been used to subsidize this practice. While the Taylor Force Act—named after an American who was killed by a Palestinian terror attack in 2016—mandates the PA cease these payments or face a cutoff in U.S. aid, Palestinian officials have made clear in recent days they have no intention of ending this practice of funneling U.S aid dollars to the Palestinian Authority Martyr's Fund... Cut them off Trump, just like you did to Syria.

DOJ Announces Arrests of 8 Who Tried to Buy Guns Illegally

{ freebeacon.com } ~ The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced on Wednesday that one of its gun crime initiatives has resulted in the arrest of eight suspects... who attempted to purchase guns despite being prohibited from doing so. The department said its Rhode Island Project Safe Neighborhoods has identified at least 44 firearms that were sold or transferred illegally. Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) as well as state and local police departments focused their efforts on those who allegedly lied to gun dealers during a gun purchase. The so-called "lie-and-buy" crimes have received increased scrutiny in recent months with the DOJ promising this month to put a greater emphasis on prosecuting them. Last summer the department said it had increased gun crime prosecutions nearly 23 percent. U.S. Attorney Stephen G. Dambruch said the arrests demonstrated the department's commitment to enforcing the laws already on the books...

There’s been a lot of heat coming their way lately, so they’re deflecting and discrediting the ones exposing it, Congress, and attempting to reinforce the legitimacy of their hoax investigation through Mueller cheerleader, Trey Gowdy.  She asks Gowdy, “As a former prosecutor what does this say to you? ♦ The flow of investigative documents from IG Horowitz to Goodlatte congress slows down at the same time as Federal Prosecutor John Huber is appointed by AG Jeff Sessions to parallel the Inspector General and look at the identified criminal conduct. Duh. Why? Because releasing criminal evidence to congress, in advance of indictments, would be nuts.

♦ Prosecutor John Huber can subpoena witnesses and bring criminal charges directly. No need for a Special Counsel prosecutor. Huber can also empanel a grand jury. [Which we know has already taken place]

The concern about Federal Prosecutor John Huber is that he’s been inside the DOJ (albeit in Utah) through the liar-nObama terms and was reappointed by President Trump.  Yeah, and so was Admiral Mike Rogers (NSA)…. and that’s despite the NSA database being used by corrupt officials within the FBI and DOJ to search and spy.  Not all “holdovers” are bad people.

♦ Congressional derps want a “super special federal prosecutor” from outside the DOJ. Now go try to figure out how a DOJ Federal Prosecutor comes from outside the Federal Department of Justice…. derp…. and would have to start from scratch on the entire investigation, professional and criminal, that Horowitz and Huber have been assembling since ‘last fall’.

Do the American people want to wait another six months just because congress wants to replace Huber?  Congress does.  Why?  Because congress applies a political filter to everything…. kicking-the-can is a process within their chaff and countermeasure strategy.  Derp.   

♦ To bolster the case for why Prosecutor Huber and/or Wray-Sessions are prudent to keep criminal evidence away from the leaking congress… Goodlatte discusses how his congress just leaked the content of the IG referral of McCabe vis-a-vis the Office of Professional Responsibility to the media.  More derp.

♦ Chairman Goodlatte also states the documents provided by the DOJ and FBI Horowitz and Huber to congress are redacted. Duh. The redaction’s are specifically because: A.) the documents have NOT been through the declassification review process Remember – we are talking FBI counterintelligence division and DOJ national security division here; and B.) The documentary evidence contains the outline of criminal conduct.

Congress, writ large, can go to the DOJ and review all the documents in full without redaction’s. Horowitz, Rosenstein, Sessions, Wray and Prosecutor Huber are allowing congress to review all the collected evidence as part of the oversight aspect. However, if congress wants to physically remove evidence the aforementioned investigative entities require redactions. Duh. For the previously described reasons. Derp.

{ townhall.com } ~ I realize it's a small point and that I'm weeks late to this absurdity, but I've decided to call attention to it anyway because it further underscores the ludicrousness of treating Politifact like a nonpartisan fact-checker. I sometimes take issue with determinations made by the Washington Post or FactCheck.org's truth-assessing outfits, but they at least seem interested in impartiality. Politifact is a different story, having earned a reputation as a liberal, anti-Republican institution. Evidence of this has arisen time and again, and now there's another laugher to add to their rap sheet. In the course researching this post about vulnerable 2018 Senate Democrats on Thursday, I was looking for a link to North Dakota Sen. Heidi Heitkamp high-fiving Senate Minority Leader Chuck clown-Schumer after casting an extreme vote on abortion. A Politifact analysis popped up as the top result in my web search, producing a rating of this claim -- used by Republicans to criticize Heitkamp -- as "false."  False? I read on, quickly discovering that their justification for this rating was comically stupid:

The footage shows Heitkamp walking into the chamber as she converses with Cory Booker, D-N.J.. She responds to the clerk’s roll call in the negative, and resumes chatting. As they speak, clown-Schumer approaches Booker and Heitkamp, and Heitkamp catches his eye. They each wave hello with their hands up, and Heitkamp reaches her hand out to meet clown-Schumer’s as he lands at their side. They clasp hands, exchange a few inaudible words, and let go as Booker pats clown-Schumer’s shoulder. The vote was about halfway through, so the hand clasp was not in reaction to a final tally. Typical high fives involve slapping of two hands in celebration. This was a very gradual meeting of awkwardly waving hands.

The piece goes on to quote Democratic spokespeople denying that the high five was related to the abortion vote. Ergo, "false!" How ridiculous. Watch the clip for yourself here:

What happens isn't terribly ambiguous: Heitkamp marches onto the floor signals that she's voting 'no.' "Ms. Heitkamp, no," the clerk says. Instantaneously, clown-Schumer changes direction and makes his way over to greet Heitkamp, holding his hand up in a "high five" position -- all within five seconds of her vote being cast. She waves, then holds her hand out to receive the high five. The two hands meet as clown-Schumer arrives next to her, then they clasp. The two Senators begin to converse, with Sen. Cory Booker standing alongside. This all happens within the span of ten seconds. It was not "very gradual." Sure, it was a bit awkward, but high fives can be pretty awkward sometimes, especially among "old white people," as the preposterously fact-checked conservative blogger snarks. Also, the argument that "the hand clasp was not in reaction to the final tally" because the voting period was still active is absolutely irrelevant. She voted on the controversial issue, immediately after which clown-Schumer went out of his way to greet her with a high five. The fact that other Senators were still voting means nothing. She did what she did, and he reacted.  

Now, it's certainly possible that clown-Schumer's thoughts weren't preoccupied with what issue the Senate happened to be voting on at that precise moment, or that he wanted to discuss a separate topic with her. It may have just been a case of unfortunate timing and optics for Heitkamp. But situational awareness is important for elected officials, and perhaps a Senator from a pro-life state should realize that doling out warm greetings and high fives within seconds of voting to kill a sixth-month elective abortion restriction isn't a good look. Politifact's Zapruder-film breakdown of the non-high-five, um, high five is risible. But its red herring about the vote remaining open is the real 'tell' here; they could have probably gotten away with a "half true" verdict, weighing the competing claims. But they wanted to give Heitkamp cover for her PR problem, and the best way to achieve that partisan end was by declaring the opposition's absolutely defensible assertion to be "false."

Politifact is a pro-Democrat organization masquerading as an independent fact-checker and should be regarded as such. If and when it rules against Democrats and leftists, as it occasionally does, those rulings should be trumpeted not as negative fact checks, but as something more powerful: Statements against interest.

Barry Donadio, a Maryland Republican Politician is opposed to Maryland Senate Bill 344. It gives the ability for Permanent Resident Foreign Nationals with no U.S. Citizenship to become Police Officers in Maryland.

“ I am stongly opposed to a law that will give the ability for a non-U.S. Citizen to become a Law Enforcement Officer and the authority to arrest U.S. Citizens.” said Donadio.

Maryland’s Senate Bill 344 seems to do just that. After serving 4 years in the U.S. Military, the bill will permit the Maryland Police Training and Stadards Commission to potientally ceritify them as Police Officers.

Donadio stated that he asked numerous active Maryland Police Officers their opinions about the bill and every Officer was against it.

“It is a bad idea” Donadio implied. “I am not comfortable with a non-U.S. citizen having the authority of arresting any American citizen.” “ Dump this bill.”

“ I question if SB344 is even constitutionally sound and which Americans would benefits from it. ”

Donadio’s stance is that the bill will only work to undermine the trust between the civilian populace and law enforcement. The bill will mostly lead to a hiring preference for those who are non-citizens over Americans that are applying for Police Officer positions. Donadio also questions if a permanent resident will practice the same discretion as our current Police Officers that are U.S. citizens. It may also turn policing into services offered by the lowest bidder. In theory, the bill legally sets the stage to potentially have an all non-U.S. citizen police department.

Donadio does endorse and appreciate those permanent residents that are serving in our armed forces. He believes this is a path to citizenship and an act he respects on the part of those seeking citizenship. “But they are not arresting Americans in this capacity.” Donadio said. That is why he is against making them a Police Officer prior to obtaining U.S. citizenship.

Donadio received some resistance on his stance aganst SB344. Some citing that non-U.S. citizens serve in the Fire Departments in Maryland. Donadio’s stance is that he has no issue with them serving in that capacity becasue they are not placing Americans under arrest.

Donadio is encouring Police fraternal orginazations and concerned citizens to speak out against this bill immediatly.
