coronavirus vaccine in 3 hours

{ foxbusiness.com } ~ An American biotech company says it created a coronavirus vaccine three hours after getting access to the virus' genetic sequence in mid-January... and now scientists are racing to get the vaccine on the market in record time. Inovio Pharmaceuticals is based in Pennsylvania, but scientists in its laboratory in San Diego made the discovery. "We were able to rapidly construct our vaccine in a matter of about three hours once we had the DNA sequence from the virus available because of the power of our DNA medicine platform," Dr. J. Joseph Kim, Inovio's president and CEO, told FOX Business. "Our goal is to start phase one human testing in the U.S. early this summer." China has reported 254 new daily deaths and a spike in new daily virus cases of 15,152, after new methodology was applied in the hardest-hit province of Hubei as to how cases are categorized. Inovio's stock jumped to $5.32 a share a few days after the company announced it was selected to work on a coronavirus vaccine. The American company is partnering with Beijing Advaccine, a Chinese company, to work on the vaccine. Inovio also received $9 million to work on the vaccine from the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, which is backed by billionaire Bill Gates. "We’ve done this many, many times before. The most relevant was building our vaccine against MERS virus, which is a coronavirus in the same family as COVID-19," Kim said. Inovio took a vaccine for Zika virus from construct design to human testing in the U.S. in less than seven months, Kim said. "We’re planning to beat our own record," he said. "Maybe we could do that in close to half that time." Inovio is building a coalition for the "war" against COVID-19 that will require scaling up to thousands upon thousands of doses, Kim said. Another U.S. company, Maryland-based Novavax, is aiming to make a coronavirus vaccine in as little as three months, although such vaccines can take years to develop. The company made an Ebola vaccine in 90 days..

{ lidblog.com } ~ Remember when words mattered? You know what I am talking about! When words had a meaning before they are artificially softened... The days before taxes were called revenue enhancements, before government spending of our hard-earned money was called investments, or when there were terrorists instead of militants. Back then, words mattered. Sure, at times, they may have been harsh sounding like when this Oscar winner is instead of the Oscar goes to. That last one gives the impression that the best picture award is just another meaningless participation trophy; “the 10th place award goes to.” To that matter, as Jerry Seinfeld would say, a silver medal in the Olympics does not designate a winner; it designates the #1 loser, someone who did better than any other loser. The same thing happened with the word sanctuary. The term sanctuary city is a misnomer. Of course, there is also the recent silly transition from illegal Alien to undocumented Alien. If breaking the law by coming into the country illegally is merely undocumented, then a murderer is simply an undocumented executioner, a kidnapper is an undocumented parent. Someone who drives despite the fact their license was suspended an undocumented driver, and a squatter in someone’s building an undocumented resident, etc., etc. Another one of those new-fangled, softened-terms is sanctuary city. That particular term didn’t replace another one like “undocumented alien.” It’s a relatively new term because municipalities used to keep criminal Illegal aliens under lock and key until the feds could come to pick them up. They would let the feds know when a local criminal sentence was going to end and the feds would be able to grab them to serve their federal sentence or if there was no federal sentence, send them back to their home country. Toda cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, NY, Seattle, and others don’t allow their law enforcement to cooperate with ICE and allow illegal aliens, even the criminal ones to go free and back into the general population. Those municipalities call themselves “sanctuary cities.” But they aren’t providing Sanctuary they are aiding and abetting criminals. United States Leads the World
in Cutting CO2 Emissions

{ thenewamerican.com } ~ In yet another blow to the climate-hysteric narrative, a report from the International Energy Agency (IEA) shows that the United States is leading the entire world in cutting carbon-dioxide emissions... The findings shatter the myth that the United States is holding the world back in attempts to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions, which climate alarmists say are the main reason that the Earth is in danger from “global warming.” “The United States saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis — a fall of 140 Mt, or 2.9%, to 4.8 Gt,” the report said. “U.S. emissions are now down almost 1 Gt from their peak in the year 2000, the largest absolute decline by any country over that period.” In the United States, a reduction in the use of coal-fired energy plants along with increased use of natural gas is largely credited for the decrease in emissions. “A 15% reduction in the use of coal for power generation underpinned the decline in overall US emissions in 2019. Coal-fired power plants faced even stronger competition from natural gas-fired generation, with benchmark gas prices an average of 45% lower than 2018 levels. As a result, gas increased its share in electricity generation to a record high of 37%.” So, all that fracking that so-called environmentalists hate is producing cleaner, more efficient fuel with which to power the country. Wealthy, developed Western countries are leading the way in emissions reductions. The European Union, which for this report includes the United Kingdom, saw a five-percent decrease in emissions. Germany lead the way, with its emissions dropping some eight percent to “a level not seen since the 1950s.” With all of that good news on the emissions front, it’s odd that, globally, the report states that emissions remained basically flat. How can this be? It seems that wealthy nations take environmentalism and side issues like climate change more seriously. The good news that Western emissions are falling are offset by the fact that the two most populous countries in the world, China and India, are continuing to rely on fuel that is dirtier and produces more emissions. “Emissions outside advanced economies grew by close to 400 Mt in 2019, with almost 80% of the increase coming from Asia. In this region, coal demand continued to expand, accounting for over 50% of energy use, and is responsible for around 10 Gt of emissions,” according to the report....
The Terrorists Migrating into Europe

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ A new report, "What Terrorist Migration Over European Borders Can Teach About American Border Security", by Todd Bensman, a senior national security fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies... describes the extent to which terrorists disguised as migrants have entered the European Union to commit terrorist attacks. Although the study was written primarily for an American audience to prevent the same mistakes from being made on US borders, the study is extremely relevant for the European public -- especially as Germany recently warned of a repeat migration crisis, similar to the one that occurred in 2015. According to Bensman: "Between 2014 and 2017, 13 of the 26 member states lining the so-called Schengen Area's external land borders recorded more than 2.5 million detections of illegal border-crossings along several land and sea routes, an historic, mostly unfettered surge that came to be known as the 'migrant crisis'. The Schengen Area, which generally encompasses the European Union, consists of countries that combined immigration enforcement of a common external border of 27,000 sea miles and 5,500 land miles while removing all interior border controls to facilitate the free movement of goods and people. "During the 2014-2018 migrant crisis, the majority of travelers who crossed the external border and were then able to move unfettered between member nations came from nations in the Middle East, such as Syria and Iraq; South Asia, such as Afghanistan and Pakistan; and Africa, such as Somalia and Eritrea. It first became known that some ISIS terrorist operatives also were in the flows after some of them committed the November 2015 Paris attacks... and then the March 2016 Brussels attacks". According to Bensman "The totality of how migration and terrorism intertwined as a destructive force against Europe, and the continent's response, remains largely unacknowledged, undocumented, and not analyzed". Nor does it get much -- if any -- prolonged attention in European public debates about migration. According to Bensman: "Between January 2014 and January 2018, at least 104 Islamist extremists entered Europe by way of migration over external sea and land borders among more than two million people who crossed external European Union borders. All 104 were killed or arrested in nine European nations after participating either in completed and thwarted attacks, or arrested for illegal involvement with designated terrorist groups..."The majority of the 104 Islamist migrant-terrorists — 75 — were primarily affiliated with ISIS, while 13 were affiliated with Jabhat al Nusra. Others were associated with Ahrar al Sham, the Taliban, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Al-Shabaab, and the Caucasian Emirate. Some had unknown sympathies and some shifted among several groups. Only one was a woman and their average age was 26. Evangelical Support for Trump Still Baffles Media
Thomas Gallatin: It goes without saying that the Democrat Media Complex is no fan of President Donald Trump. As numerous studies have observed, over 90% of the mainstream media’s coverage of Trump and his administration has been negative and often aggressively so. In fact, if one were to take the Leftmedia’s dubious characterization of Trump as the gospel truth, one would be hard pressed in distinguishing him from Adolf Hitler. Then with this over-the-top negative characterization of Trump, anti-Trumpers bash those who voted for him and support him as either unthinking fan boys or motivated by a sinister, immoral, and selfish ambition.
This straw-man tactic has been regularly applied to evangelical Christians in an attempt to shame them for giving 80% of their votes to Trump. The anti-Trump crowd falsely charges that evangelicals made a Faustian bargain when they voted for Trump and that they have made a mockery of their Christian faith.
What these anti-Trumpers conveniently dismiss or ignore is the reality of the massively divergent worldviews between the country’s two largest political parties. Christians are called by Jesus to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. The anti-Trumpers blast Christians for employing that first principle of wisdom in how they voted. The fact of the matter is we are not primarily voting for an individual and his record but rather for the political platform and vision that individual espouses. Does individual character matter? It certainly does, but so does what the individual is proposing for the nation.
In 2016, evangelicals were faced with a difficult decision only because Trump was an individual with well-known moral failures. Yet, as far as Trump’s policy platform was concerned, there was little to object to and much to be encouraged by. So, the vast majority of evangelicals chose the candidate whose policy platform aligned most consistently with their own worldview values. And one of the biggest issues in this value system is the right to life.
With the choice presented to evangelical Americans, they were wise as serpents and made the best choice given the options before them. They recognized the implications of electing Hillary Clinton — her advocacy of abortion and ever-increasing government is a road to greater tyranny and loss of Liberty. A vote for Trump was risky, for it was unknown whether he would actually follow through on what he promised, but he has and by so doing has only strengthened his evangelical support. A good argument can be made that Trump, as deeply flawed and broken as he is, has been uniquely used by God to bring blessing to the country. This is what evangelicals were hoping for when casting their votes in 2016 and almost certainly again in 2020, perhaps in even greater numbers.
