Democrats fuel the flames of rage.  In Minnesota, a needless reenactment of 2020!-Posted on The Washington Times-By Scott Walker-On January 29, 2026:

OPINION:

Here we go again. In 2020, we saw the tragic impact of incompetent leaders in Minnesota and Wisconsin. The damage, destruction, and death: It didn’t have to happen. Sadly, we are now seeing it play out again in Minnesota.

Those of us who live in Wisconsin had a front row seat to the riots in Kenosha. Not long after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, a video came out of a police officer firing multiple shots at Jacob Blake.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers put out an outrageous statement about the shooting before reviewing all of the facts and multiple videos. He joined other liberals who issued calls to action.

The story changed dramatically when other videos were posted, and details emerged. Kenosha police had responded to a 911 call from someone who had said Jacob Blake was her boyfriend and that he was not to be on her property. There was an arrest warrant out for Mr. Blake based on charges of third-degree sexual assault, trespassing and disorderly conduct for domestic abuse.

Police officers tried to detain Mr. Blake. They then used tasers on him, but he fought them and got one of them in a headlock. A witness said he heard officers say, “Drop the knife” before they eventually drew their firearms.

Mr. Evers and other liberals didn’t wait for these facts before they spoke out.

A Kenosha News editorial later read: “Evers’ statement on Sunday fueled the fire before any rioters got here. His insufficient response has put a Wisconsin city and its residents in danger. Now he needs to do everything the state can to help Kenosha and protect its citizens.”

Even a newspaper that too often endorsed Democrats for office knew that the Democrat in charge of state government had gone too far. It did not have to be that way. Mr. Evers and other liberals could have called on people to remain calm and review all of the information.

They should have told protesters to trust the justice system. Instead, they eagerly agitators on, with tragic results.

We are seeing this all over again now in Minnesota, where Gov. Tim Walz has encouraged people to go out onto the streets.

Years ago, tensions rose when a police officer shot a man in the Sherman Park neighborhood of Milwaukee. I reached out to church leaders in the area and asked them to help get people off the streets. At the same time, I activated the National Guard and had them waiting in a garage a few minutes from the park in case the church leaders could not regain control. In the end, it worked.

I was no longer the governor when things got out of control in Kenosha, but I still pleaded with people to go home. ’Let local, county, state and federal law enforcement agents get things under control’ was my request at the time. ’Send in the National Guard to restore peace to the community.’ Instead, state and local officials lost control. President Trump had to send in federal agents to regain public safety.

As an aside, I do believe people have a right to carry a firearm — even when they come to a protest. And they certainly have the right to defend themselves when someone threatens them or their family. That said, the situations in Kenosha and now in Minnesota went well beyond peaceful protests and eventually turned into full-scale riots.

The best thing for law-abiding citizens to do under those circumstances is get out of the area and let law enforcement officials do their jobs. Unfortunately, many of the people in Minnesota today are actually trained to undermine the work of federal agents. These are not protesters; they are agitators. Some might even say insurrectionists.

The federal agents who are enforcing the law did not write the law. Those who oppose it should petition members of Congress, not take matters into their own hands.

Personally, I wouldn’t  change the law. If someone came into my home without permission, I would expect them to leave. If they did not, I would call the police and have the person removed from my home. I would not wait until that person committed an even worse crime.

Why should that principle not also apply to our country?

This leads me to believe that it’s not really about the law. Since Donald Trump became president, more than 675,000 people have been deported, and an estimated 2.2 million more have left the country on their own, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. When Barack Obama was president, more than 3 million people were deported from the United States. If this were just about the law, there would have been riots then too.

Sadly, the tensions in Minnesota appear to have been elevated by the actions of liberal politicians like Gov. Walz, who wanted to divert attention from the massive government fraud revealed during the past few months. Their calls signaled to radicals that they should come to Minnesota.

It didn’t have to happen.

So far today, I have managed not to get shot by agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Yesterday, too. And all the days before that.

Want to know my secret?

I don’t harass or physically interfere with federal law enforcement officers while they’re carrying out their duties.

And I certainly don’t do any of that while also introducing a deadly weapon to the mix.

Radical leftists in Minneapolis could take a lesson from that as they aggressively tangle with federal agents attempting to enforce immigration law, but that would mean they wouldn’t get what they’re after.

Because physical confrontation is what the radicals want, and if there is actual violence, so much the better, in their view.

As the world knows, Democrats have been engaged in a prolonged tantrum since the re-election of President Trump in November 2024. They squawk all the time, but they get loudest when Mr. Trump is delivering on his promise to stop illegal immigration.

More specifically, leftists have shown that they’re most enraged when Mr. Trump is deporting illegal aliens already present in the country, the majority of whom have committed other crimes since sneaking across the border.

This uncontrollable anger showed itself again on Jan. 24, when 37-year-old Alex Pretti tried to forcefully obstruct ICE operations, a poor decision that instantly led to bedlam. As Pretti physically grappled with officers, they discovered he was armed with a handgun. During the melee, as he was disarmed by the agents, he was also shot to death.

An investigation is ongoing, but the left’s allies in the news media quickly lauded Pretti as a peace-loving intensive care unit nurse who only wanted to help people.

But just as quickly, a new video emerged from 11 days earlier, showing Pretti quite obviously instigating a tense altercation of just the same sort that would soon end his life. Less than two weeks before he was shot during a similar frenzied scene, he belligerently and violently scuffled with ICE, spat at officers and kicked a taillight out of their vehicle.

In the newly surfaced video, Pretti can be clearly heard to scream at ICE officers, “Pepper spray, b——!” and “Assault me, mother———!” mere inches from their faces.

This is not a peaceful protester. This is someone who believes there is value to his cause if things turn violent.

As was true in the skirmish that led to his death, Pretti had a 9-millimeter handgun tucked into his waistband during this incident as well. While it may be legal for him to carry the weapon at most times (with a concealed carry permit and identification), it is beyond stupid to do so while spoiling for a fight with law enforcement officers.

And once he was engaged in the potentially felonious act of interfering with federal agents doing their duties, his right to carry probably went out the window.

It’s no mystery why this street thuggery — the eternal embodiment of leftist rage — is erupting where it is. It’s because the elected officials there have encouraged it from the beginning.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who seems lab-created to possess all the left’s most harmful attributes, described his city as having been “invaded” and placed “under siege.”

“Get the f—- out of Minneapolis,” Mr. Frey said publicly to ICE, signaling that he was aligned with the boiling tempers in the streets.

Two-term Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee, declared that the feds were engaged in an “organized campaign of brutality” and used a rare primetime televised address to urge people to mix it up with ICE and capture it on video.

This, coincidentally, helped Mr. Walz divert attention from the ongoing scandal of massive fraud in his state’s “safety net” programs, which led him to withdraw from his reelection campaign.

These elected Democrats urged leftists to battle federal officers, and the results are plain. The Department of Homeland Security reports a 1,300% increase in assaults on ICE officers and an 8,000% increase in death threats.

Mind you, this is already the third time this year that things boiled over around Minneapolis. One agent shot and killed a woman when she rammed him with her SUV, and another had to shoot a suspect in the leg after being attacked with a shovel.

Think about it this way: ICE is removing illegal aliens from communities in states from coast to coast, but it’s only meeting with organized resistance in Minnesota, where one of the leaders is former Vice President Kamala Harris’ former running mate, embroiled in his own scandal. That’s how you know this whole thing is one big political operation to the left.

And to the radicals, of course, violence in the streets isn’t a drawback — it’s a feature.

Sen. Kennedy Demolishes Tim Walz and the Anti-ICE Crew As Only He Can!-Posted on RedState-By Nick Arama-On January 31, 2026:

We've had months of obstruction and violence from anti-ICE agitators. 

Just last night, they were attacking federal agents and pelting them with things like water bottles in Los Angeles. This clearly wasn't a "protest." It was an assault. 

This is what the Democrats have incited, and continue to incite. You even had Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43) there. She was interviewed as she was leaving and had the temerity to say she didn't see any violence. 

Meanwhile, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who has helped to incite the anti-ICE fervor, was wildly dropping words referencing the Civil War, and President Donald Trump had to put him in his place. Walz doesn't want to go there; it wouldn't end well. 

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) was on Sean Hannity's show on Friday night. He finished Walz and the anti-ICE agitators in his typical humorous way.

Number one, Governor Tim Walz—whatever he says, believe the opposite. I’m sorry, the man learned to lie before he learned to talk. He’s just a less masculine version of Hillary Clinton.

That was hilarious, and it killed Hannity. 

Kennedy continued: 

Number two, unless you have a history of disappointing your parents, you know that illegal immigration is illegal. And the Democrats are always telling us nobody is above the law—well, how come people who are in our country illegally are above the law?

Now that's a great question. The answer is because they have Democrats like Tim Walz ever at the ready to defend them, putting them first, before the American people. You never hear them demanding that people "say the name" of the people killed by illegal aliens, but they will go out into the street to prevent picking up criminal illegal aliens. 

Kennedy said the agitators don't have the right to interfere with law enforcement operations or act violently, which he observed was also just "deep dish stupid." "You can get hurt!" he said. He noted how federal agents and police will generally leave them alone unless they do "illegal stuff." That's really the bottom line. People have been hurt and died because the Democrats pushed this, not caring about the results of their propaganda. 

Then Kennedy called on Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) to bring a bill to the floor to get rid of sanctuary cities. That's what they really need to do, because then they can end a lot of this nonsense that leads to problems from folks like Walz. It would greatly facilitate the process. Get that on the floor and get it done.
