We've told you about Calla Walsh, the former staffer for Elizabeth Warren, and her radical views on Islam (she loves it) and America (she hates it). 

Turns out Walsh attended the funeral for Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei, the brutal Islamist dictator who killed tens of thousands of Iranian protesters and oppressed women for years. That doesn't seem to matter to Leftists like Walsh, however, because her desire to destroy America outweighs all concerns.

“Former Dem political darling Calla Walsh attended attended the funeral for slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday, declaring that he was the “greatest anti-imperialist leader” in a propaganda video while covering up in a hijab and traditional garb.

Walsh, 22, who has been previously arrested for antisemitic vandalism in the US, spoke with Iran’s PressTV to talk about her attendance at Khamenei’s funeral over the weekend, where she hailed him as a heroic figure standing up to America and Israel.

“He was a leader to all people of the world who struggle against imperialism, arrogance, against Zionism, against genocide,” she said.

“To me, he was the greatest anti-imperialist leader to have lived during my lifetime.”

It’s the latest extremist turn for Walsh, the daughter of a Boston University English professor and a Harvard writing teacher. She attended prestigious prep schools and was praised in Democratic circles for her activism beginning when she was just 14.”

He saw the murders of tens of thousands of Iranians, but yes, he's against 'genocide.'

“In 2021, she became the youngest delegate at the Democratic Socialists of America’s national convention and left the organization that same year over its “Zionism”. The DSA, the leftmost significant organization in American politics was insufficiently anti-Israel for a 17-year-old from Cambridge. 

By 2022 she’d abandoned electoral politics entirely after breaking with Markey over Israel; by 2023 she identified as a communist. And she has named her own accelerant, and it wasn’t a book or a lecture: “being in the streets” during the 2020 riots “was truly the most radicalizing thing that ever happened to me … I was in the streets realizing, ‘Oh, we have to fight the police.” Anyone designing a counter-radicalization strategy aimed at foreign influence or online jihadist content would have missed her completely, because at this point in the story she hasn’t encountered either.”

While Walsh is one of the most vocal and known Leftists, she's not alone. She's part of a larger system that seeks to radicalize young women and men into socialism with the express goal of destroying America.

President Trump has painted Democratic primaries as targets for communists, but the Communist Party USA dismisses that claim.

The party condemned his “red‑baiting tirades” against the Democratic Socialists of America primary victories in New York, Colorado and the District, labeling his rhetoric a “dangerous escalation of anti‑communist hysteria.”

CPUSA co-Chair Joe Sims contends that no current or hopeful Democratic candidates are communists.

“I don’t know any Democratic candidate for Congress that’s a member of the Communist Party,” he said in a Friday statement. “I’m also unaware of any member of Congress that’s a member, though I wish there were. Hey, that’d be an awful lot of dues money.”

In a social media post on Monday, Mr. Trump labeled D.C. mayoral nominee Janeese Lewis George a “Communist” and promised to block her agenda. Following her recent Democratic primary victory, the president criticized her stands on police and immigration enforcement, stating he would not let the city “be destroyed by a Communist adherent who has no intention to MAKE WASHINGTON GREAT AGAIN!”

Ms. George is affiliated with the Democratic Socialists of America, not the Communist Party USA.

The president also criticized primary victories by Democratic candidates in Colorado and New York, condemning them as “hardcore, godless communists” and describing their popularity as the “greatest threat to our country since its founding.”

The comments came in response to the primary win by democratic socialist Melat Kiros for a Denver congressional seat, a trend that Republicans are making a focal point of midterm messaging.

Mr. Trump also repeatedly referred to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as a “communist lunatic.”

Speaking in Washington at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Policy Conference last week, Mr. Trump declared communism to be the “greatest threat” facing the U.S., even topping the dangers of both world wars, Pearl Harbor and 9/11. He used his address to religious conservatives to warn against what he termed “godless” communist ideologies infiltrating American institutions.

Mr. Sims countered, “Our enemy is not God; it’s capitalism.”

He noted in his Friday statement, “Democratic socialists are just that: democratic, and socialist. They want reforms to relieve suffering. Stop the red‑baiting,” adding that CPUSA seeks a “peaceful path to socialism.”

His CPUSA co-chair, Rossana Cambron, chimed in by saying “MAGA is going to lose the midterms, and Trump’s getting desperate.”

Speaking on the eve of Independence Day at Mount Rushmore, Mr. Trump said there is a “resurgence of the communist menace in our land, including from newcomers to our country who embrace ideas totally opposed to our way of life and our great success.”

His underscoring point: “We’re not going to let this happen.”

OPINION:

Democratic Socialists of America members, fresh off a few primary wins, have been out and about and crowing over their newfound influence, chanting in bars about House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and vowing that he’s “next” on their political hit list. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, meanwhile, went on ABC and said, “I think a democratic socialist can get elected anywhere across this country for any position” — including president of the United States. DSA Co-chair Ashik Siddique said similarly in The Hill: “We want people to be talking proactively about what they would want to see in a presidential campaign.”

Socialists are such a scourge. It’s impossible to be a socialist without also being a liar. It’s also impossible to be a socialist without being a communist-loving, Marxist-embracing, collectivist-worshipping tool of the devil.

Democrats have been lying to the American people about their devilish designs to destroy the Constitution since Barack Obama days, when ye olde pen and phone president openly derided the congressional way and openly dismissed law and order and openly set America as the responsible party for all the world’s ills.

First came the promise to change the foundations of the nation. Then came the apology tour. Then came the eight years of steady, determined destruction of all the foundations. Then came four years of fabricated charges to resist Donald Trump. Then came the Feckless One, also known as the Puppet President, who was played behind the scenes to advance a third term of Obama-esque destruction.

And all along, what did Democrats do? What did the leadership and the led within the Democrat Party do?

They aided and abetted.

They let the anti-America, anti-family, anti-Christian, radical, deranged, fascists of the left run roughshod through the streets, tossing their bricks and screaming about their abortion rights and whacking off their children’s body parts and kicking out police from their communities. They cheered the anti-ICE movement. They defended the antisemitic attacks on college campuses. They turned their blind eyes to crimes committed by illegal immigrants — they went out of their way to have sit-downs and cocktails with deported criminals. They hung rainbow flags from public properties; they hung the rainbow flag from the White House. They mocked all-things-Christian and bowed to all-things-sharia, even while proclaiming support of women’s rights, transgender rights, homosexual rights.

Democrats brought America the DSA because Democrats have been lying for years about their party’s walk toward socialism and communism.

Now the DSA is coming for the Democrats who won’t openly embrace communism. 

That’s called: You get what you deserve.

“Jeffries avoided directly answering questions about socialist candidates and their supporters chanting that he’s ’next’ to face a primary on Thursday,” Fox News wrote of the New York Democrat.

Earlier, Jeffries responded to the same question from MS NOW’s Jen Psaki, with this: “And so, listen, I think at the end of the day, individual districts, the beauty of it, all are made up by a diverse group of people who have a diverse set of perspectives on a wide variety of issues,” he said, The Hill reported.

That’s code for “holy crap, what the bleep is happening!”

Well, what’s happening is the Democrat Party is revealing itself as what it has been for a very long time.

“Establishment Democrats are panicking as voters in their party move sharply to the left,” The Nation wrote.

Yes. Accountability does often breed panic. Longtime Democrat strategist James Carville came out, post-New York primaries, and said of the new batch of open socialists serving in the party, “Let’s negotiate a terms of a schism here. Maybe we can part under some kind of advantageous terms for both of us, but I’m done. And I’m not in that f——— political party.”

He’s leaving the party.

He’s leaving the party he helped create.

He’s leaving without accepting any sort of accountability on the lunatic fringe he allowed to become his party.

Isn’t that just like a Democrat — which is to say, isn’t that just like a socialist-communist-Marxist: liar, inside and out, from beginning to end.

Republicans aren’t guilt-free on the growth of DSA!-Posted on The Washington Times-By Cheryl K. Chumley, The Washington Times-On July 6, 2026:

OPINION:

House Speaker Mike Johnson said during a weekend TV news segment that “there are many Mamdanis popping up, running for Congress around the country, and you better be very serious about this” — a reference to the growing list of Democratic Socialists of America-supporting political wannabes who are being cheered by the king of DSA campaigns himself, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

And he’s right.

“This is a serious threat to our whole system of government,” Johnson said.

The question is: Why did Republicans let this happen?

Back when Barack Obama was president, and back when Obama was pushing Obamacare, and back when Republicans were pretending to fight oh-so-hard against the government takeover of America’s fine healthcare system — it was the GOP that actually gave up the fight against healthcare as a personal responsibility and allowed the left to run with the narrative that it’s a human right. By ceding that battle, Republicans actually ceded the war over Obamacare. Once it was accepted into the American consciousness that healthcare was a right, then the argument became one of dollars and cents — not of personal responsibility versus the rightful role of government. Republicans started dickering over costs, not principle.

Healthcare became a right — and Democrats quickly connected the dots to make it a taxpayer-funded right.

Voila. Obamacare took root and spread. Fast-forward to today, and now the arguments in Congress focus on whether young men who earn nearly 140 percent of federal poverty levels ought to be given Medicaid. Republicans can’t seem to reel back the health care giveaways.

My, how the Founding Fathers would have choked on the taxes that go to supporting those who don’t want to take responsibility for their own health.

Republicans did the same with border control.

Years and years and years ago, Republicans decided to set up a Gang of Eight to deal with Democrats’ nonstop cries for more open borders, ceding the idea that America already had in place plenty of border controls — the problem was they weren’t being properly enforced. Send it to a committee, Republicans said. Set up a commission, Republicans decided. That’s called booting the problem down the road, so as to save political face.

Meanwhile, American business owners dug in deep on the opened doors to cheap, cheaper, ever-cheapening labor costs, and even while voting Republican and decrying liberalism, hired more and more illegal immigrants so as to save on payroll — resulting in a depressed pay in certain employment sectors across the nation. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, first quietly, then not-so-quietly, began to campaign for more open borders because — as Americans were told, time and time again — these migrants, these border-crossers, these illegals did the work U.S. citizens refused to do. Not exactly true — but then again, who cared? Businesses boomed, stock markets soared, and 401(k)s blossomed. 

“Ronald Reagan used to warn about communism, he talked about it, but it was a distant threat across the world,’ Johnson said, The Hill reported.

Yes. Former President Ronald Reagan used to talk about government as the enemy of freedom, too. He used to warn that the scariest words in the English language were, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.” Republicans seem to have forgotten that, though.

Too often, the GOP has ceded the battle, which has led to a ceding of the war. 

Too frequently, the GOP has tossed out principle for the cause of political pragmatism — for the cause of selfish personal ambition.

“And now the barbarians are inside the gate,” Johnson said.

And how exactly does he think they got there?

Democrats are driven by a demonic spirit, and their party has fallen on wicked times — so wicked, so evil, so demonic they’ve opened arms wide to embrace antisemitism, abortion, lawlessness and the like.

But America hasn’t ushered in a trend toward socialism and DSA mindset and now, growing Islamist aggression, by military conquest. It’s been a slow heat. It’s been a compromise here, a compromise there. It’s been a political betrayal here, a political betrayal there.

SAVE America Act, anyone?

And Republicans, thy hands are dirtied, too.

Between the Declaration of Independence and the ‘Communist Manifesto,’ only one will prevail. 1776 or 1848; there is no middle ground!-Posted on The Washington Times-By Don Feder-On July 5, 2026:

OPINION:

We have a choice between two conflicting worldviews: one of freedom and dignity, the other of a regimented society based on submission to the ideology of a ruling elite.

One liberates, the other enslaves. One points the way toward a new dawn for humanity, the other toward the dark night of collectivism.

These visions were set forth in two of the most important documents in history, written just 72 years apart: The Declaration of Independence, adopted in 1776, and “The Communist Manifesto,” published in 1848. The struggle, which is going on all around us, is a manifestation of these two mutually exclusive worldviews.

The Declaration reflected the thinking of the most brilliant minds ever assembled in one place. These included merchants, planters, lawyers, inventors, a physician and a member of the clergy. Most were distinguished in their individual fields. They did not need a cause, but they believed in one.

“The Communist Manifesto” was written largely by Karl Marx, a miserable failure, an angry, bitter crank who sought greatness by attacking a system he did not understand. He called for the abolition of capitalism without ever setting foot on a factory floor. He was also a racist and an antisemite.

The Declaration of Independence is only 1,320 words, and most of that is taken up with a list of the Colonists’ grievances against King George III. The preamble, which contains the essence of the document’s political philosophy, is 133 words.

“The Communist Manifesto” is roughly 12,000 words. Later, Marx and his collaborator, Friedrich Engels, expanded on this in “Das Kapital,” a stultifying three-volume work of 2,500 pages. Like “Mein Kampf,” it is best used as a doorstop.

Compare the records of these two worldviews.

The vision of the Founders took America from a colonial backwater to the nation that dominated the 20th century. From our factories and workshops has flowed an endless stream of inventions that have shaped the modern world and eased the burden of humanity, including the incandescent light bulb, airplane, telephone, television, refrigerator, microchip and internet.

Our prosperity lifted all boats. After World War II, we rebuilt the economies of our enemies. Our Constitution served as a model of representative government for emerging nations.

The record of communism is drenched in blood and reeks of human suffering. Since the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, communism has been responsible for 65 million to 100 million deaths worldwide.

Marxism-Leninism has enriched our vocabulary with words and phrases such as gulags, killing fields, planned famines, death camps and purges.

A large part of humanity is trapped in communist countries such as Cuba, China and North Korea. The Berlin Wall was not built to keep West Germans from fleeing to East Germany. Cuba has not taken in 2 million refugees from the United States.

In America, communism, repackaged as democratic socialism, is making alarming inroads. Our largest city and America’s financial hub has a Marxist mayor. Our capital city, the District of Columbia, will soon have one too.

Marxists just won Democratic primaries for two congressional seats in New York, one in Pennsylvania and one in Colorado. One of the winners in New York wants to abolish private property, borders and prisons. At Columbia, she led a pro-Hamas occupation.

History has come down to a life-and-death struggle between Americanism and communism.

Communism is monolithic. Americanism is individualistic. Communism demands obedience. Americanism seeks to persuade. Americanism says rights come from God. Under communism, rights come from the state.

Americanism embraces human nature. Communism fights it at every turn, attempting to pound square pegs into round holes. That is why it fails every time.

Americanism welcomes debate. Communism tries to crush it.

Still, intellectuals flock to its banner. The less someone is in touch with reality, the more communism appeals to them. A sociology major is more susceptible to communism than an engineering student. Intellectuals want to be the commissars of the new order.

I have a fantasy about Karl Marx coming back to life. In it, the prophet of communism looks at the world his ideology created. He looks at the lights of the night sky in South Korea and the darkness in North Korea. He compares the repression in communist China with the freedom in Taiwan.

He surveys the rubble of what was once the Berlin Wall. He looks at the suffering in Cuba. He compares the gross domestic product of the United States and Russia.

After he digests all this, the father of communism says to himself, “Man, what was I thinking?”

Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels weren’t right about much, but they made some astute observations about America while trying to explain its resistance to socialism.

According to Marx’s theory, as the world’s most advanced capitalist country, and one that was industrializing at a rapid clip, the United States was supposed to be closest to the inevitable socialist revolution.

“The country that is more developed industrially shows to the less developed the image of their future,” Marx wrote in Das Kapital.

This meant that “Americans will be the first to usher in a Socialist republic,” a leader of the German Social Democrats said in 1907, one of countless such confident predictions.

If Polymarket had existed at the time — and socialists had been okay with prediction markets — all the Marxists would have bought “yes” shares on a proletarian revolution in the U.S.

But it became pretty clear that this wasn’t happening, at least not on the schedule that the socialists were expecting. So, Marx and Engels had some explaining to do.

In his stilted terms, Marx remarked how the mobility of American workers kept a dispossessed class from developing: “The wage-worker of today is tomorrow an independent peasant, or artisan, working for himself. He vanishes from the labor-market, but not into the workhouse.”

Engels noted how we never experienced feudalism. Americans, he wrote, “are born conservatives — just because America is so purely bourgeois, so entirely without a feudal past and therefore proud of its purely bourgeois organization.”

Then, there was our prosperity.

“The native American workingman’s standard of living is considerably higher than even that of the British,” Engels observed, “and that alone suffices to place him in the rear for still some time to come.”

Granted, Marx and Engels never met Darializa Avila Chevalier, the socialist congressional candidate in New York City who made favorable references to communism in a since-deleted Twitter account.

She represents a socialist movement that is making a serious bid to take over one of the country’s major political parties and that has some chance to nominate one of its own as the Democratic presidential nominee in 2028.

If this movement succeeds, it will do it by running against the grain of American tradition and mores.

As the late political scientist Seymour Martin Lipset noted in his incisive book, It Didn’t Happen Here: Why Socialism Failed in the United States, left-wing intellectuals long grappled with the question of the failure of socialism in the United States and blamed a cluster of attributes and values that they called “American exceptionalism” (conservatives later adopted the term as a positive descriptor).

Lipset and his co-author, Gary Marks, worked through the explanations for the lack of a significant socialist movement, from the difficulty cracking the two-party system, to the ideologically uncompromising nature of the Socialist Party of America in the early 20th century, to the inability of the Socialist Party and labor movement to work together.

But they found that America’s distinctive culture, with its emphasis on anti-statism and individualism, was most fundamental to the socialist fizzle. Before the Great Depression, even labor organizations in the United States tended to be anti-statist.

This is not to say that there weren’t early-20th-century socialist successes in select cities, especially Milwaukee. The Democratic Socialists of America organization is beginning to duplicate these advances and is in a position to play for bigger stakes, although it will require overcoming inherent resistance in the United States.

In the 1930s, the radical socialist Leon Samson wrote of Americanism as “a solemn assent to a handful of final notions — democracy, liberty, opportunity, to all of which the American adheres rationalistically much as a socialist adheres to his socialism — because it does him good, because it gives him work, because, so he thinks, it guarantees him happiness. Americanism has thus served as a substitute for socialism.”

Bernie Sanders, Zohran Mamdani, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez hope to reverse this dynamic and substitute socialism for Americanism, a project that even Marx and Engels had their doubts about.

My fellow Americans,

On this wonderful occasion of the 250th birthday of the United States of America, we celebrate our history, our heroes, our flag, our freedom, our unyielding spirit, and the promise of even more greatness that lies ahead.

We share a tradition of winning. This is what makes our country unique. We are winners.

This is what it means to be an American. And we knew how to win right from the start.

On the morning of April 19, 1775, hundreds of British soldiers in their bright red coats marched out of Boston to put down the colonial rebellion and arrest the rebel leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock.

The British moved in tight, disciplined columns, shoulder to shoulder, with drums beating and flags flying, just as they had been trained to do so well.

But along their 20-mile route were hundreds of farmers, blacksmiths, and shopkeepers, ordinary men with rifles who fired on their oppressors from behind stone walls and trees, before melting back into the countryside.

The soldiers’ red coats made perfect targets. Their strict discipline and perfect formation became a death sentence against the unyielding spirit of resourceful and determined men defending their liberty.

The Battles of Lexington and Concord marked the beginning of the American Revolutionary War and the dawn of the first light of American freedom that forever stands as a beacon of hope to the world.

Then came the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, when brother fought brother in the bloodiest conflict in our history, the fight to abolish slavery.

You would never have heard of Abraham Lincoln if he had negotiated a deal and avoided the war, but it was not to be.

Our young nation faced its greatest test and emerged as a more perfect union.

Through courage, sacrifice and the unshakeable belief that all men are created equal, the United States was forged into one indivisible nation under God.

Our bountiful nation was built by generations of brave patriots who gave everything they had for our freedom and prosperity. They sacrificed their lives in battle; they laid the railroads and highways; they built the skyscrapers; they won two world wars; they dreamed big dreams; and they achieved the impossible, time and again.

In a spirit of generosity and with an expectation of cohesion, generations of Americans welcomed people from all corners of the globe to join them.

We all had winning and cohesion in common — but this is a warning: We must not lose the cohesion.

For the sake of America and the whole world, we must be strong, powerful and honest. We must have fair elections and a free and fair press, which we don’t have right now.

This is the land of Liberty,” President Donald Trump declared in his speech marking the nation’s 250th birthday. He added that it is “the most extraordinary, most exceptional, most incredible nation ever to exist on the face of the earth.”

It was a pretty epic weekend for the nation, with parades, fireworks, and festivals dotting the fruited plain from sea to shining sea. Celebrations and patriotism were everywhere.

Unfortunately, severe weather marred the celebrations in Washington, DC, leading to a two-hour evacuation of the National Mall. The parade through the streets of DC was canceled “due to extreme heat.” Yeah, it’s called “July.”

Nevertheless, the president who loves America so much delivered his speech after a delay. Much like he did in a similar speech on Friday night at Mount Rushmore, the president walked through American history, celebrating our nation’s triumphs and achievements, from Medals of Honor and military greatness to flight and space.

“For 250 years,” he noted, “the United States of America has been the hope, the promise, the light and the glory among all of the nations of the world.” He added, “There is no challenge Americans cannot overcome. There is no place we cannot go. There is no goal we cannot reach. And there is nothing that Americans cannot do.”

One thing he insisted that we do is defeat the communism that is festering in our own country.

“America will never be a communist country. Won’t happen,” he vowed. “Communism is a loser, and it always will be. The communist system is the opposite of the American system, and the communist system has never worked. Our warriors did not fight communism on battlefields across the world only to have that menace rear its ugly head right back here in America. We’re not going to let it happen. We like to stop a threat like that immediately and before it begins. It’s like a cancer. You got to cut it out. You got to cut it out fast.”

Indeed, communism is like cancer. Whereas American free enterprise builds and creates, communism hijacks, consumes, and destroys. Yet when you put smiley faces on it, the way Democratic Socialists do in the modern Democrat Party, it puts a veil over the inevitable Jacobin reign of terror and draws miseducated young people to it like mosquitoes to a zapper.

At Mount Rushmore, Trump inveighed against communism at greater length. “There is now a resurgence of the communist menace in our land, including from newcomers to our country who embrace ideas totally opposed to our way of life and our great success,” he warned. “These are not mere political disagreements like differences over taxes or regulations. Communism is a mortal threat to American Liberty.”

“Communism is the exact opposite of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” he continued. “It’s death, tyranny, and the pursuit of evil.”

The president highlighted the binary choice: “You can be a communist, or you can be a Patriot. You cannot be both.”

That’s exactly right, and if America is to survive another 250 years, it’s going to take strong Patriots standing against the rising tide of Marxism.

Who better to illustrate the choice President Trump presented than Zohran Mamdani? He’s the Muslim socialist who inexplicably now leads the city of New York, 25 years after Islamofascists murdered thousands of Americans at the World Trade Center.

“Never forget,” eh?

Just after Mamdani’s wife, Rama Duwaji, left America to avoid the Fourth in the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, the mayor sat behind a desk once owned by President George Washington, flanked by newly naturalized American citizens who didn’t exactly look thrilled to be here, to deliver a speech rewriting American history as one of darkness and oppression. “American exceptionalism,” he lectured, is little more than “an arena of supremacy” where “monopolies dominate every industry” and “oligarchs buy elections.”

“We see masked agents terrorizing our streets, eating food cooked by undocumented neighbors before spiriting them away in unmarked vans,” Mamdani declared. “We see a nation whose immense wealth has been built by those with calloused, dirt-streaked hands, those who toil on factory floors and chisel into stone, and we see a nation that has allowed so much of that wealth to be held instead in the soft hands of a precious few.”

He got it exactly backward, saying, “We are told that America is exceptional because we are richer, stronger, more powerful than everyone else.” No, we’re richer and stronger because our foundational principles are exceptional.

“America, if you ask [the powerful],” he groused, “becomes less the more people it welcomes. America, they will tell you, belongs only to those with the right accent or the right shade of skin. The rest of us, they insist, should be grateful for merely being allowed to visit.”

I’ll respond to this slander with a suggestion: How about a one-for-one trade? We keep the World Cup visitors who enthusiastically love America, and, for each one, we send an America-loathing socialist to one of the many socialist countries around the world, where they can dwell in, er, happiness and quit trying to destroy our country.

In short, the contrast here is stark: Trump offers a vision of a strong and prosperous America with enormous potential. Mamdani sees — and, frankly, promises — little but an American dystopia that isn’t much different from the Third World.

I’ll side with Trump on that one, thanks.

“Americans love freedom,” Trump said at Rushmore. “We cherish independence, and we know that we are the heirs to the most beautiful land, the most thrilling story, and the most precious legacy on which the sun has ever shined.” Let’s keep it that way.

I was 28 years old when America celebrated its 200th anniversary. I had been out of the Marine Corps for five years, was married, and was expecting a baby in December. The celebrations were on all the TV networks. I especially remember watching the parade of over 200 historic vessels, including 16 majestic tall ships, sail up the Hudson River in New York City.

There was a second parade in Boston Harbor with 70 tall sailing vessels. That parade was led by the U.S.S. Constitution, “Old Ironsides.” It was 179 years old and led the parade while firing cannons. Seeing the U.S.S. Constitution in person is on my bucket list.

The Vietnam War was in the rearview mirror and pride in America seemed back in vogue, if it was ever gone. We’re a very flexible nation. We bounce back from tragedies, wars, depressions, and natural disasters. Pride, patriotism, and coming together to deal with tragedies and disasters is in America’s DNA. We are also a very generous nation, more than any other country.

Yet it seems the rising tide of socialism hangs over our America 250 celebrations. When asked what the difference is between socialism and communism, I used to answer, “About 10 years!” That’s no longer true. Let’s be honest: Democratic Socialism is Marxism for beginners. DSA (Democratic Socialists of America) candidates are boldly espousing communist goals. If they talk like communists, walk like communists, and wave communist flags, believe them!

Senator Bernie Sanders, who says he’s an independent, honeymooned in the Soviet Union and claims socialist policies, but I’ve always believed he’s a closet communist. Now he seems to be out of the closet! “The Squad” are only about two shades from being communist.

The “red threat” is clearly here and growing. What do we do? Should we be afraid?

Personally, I’m not afraid. I am concerned, but not afraid. I’ve lived too long and traveled to too many places across this great nation to think that this radical ideology is going to take root across the fruited plain. As Elisha prayed in II Kings 6:17-20, “‘O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.’ So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”

There are always more of us than of the enemy. There are far more normal, God-fearing, Patriotic Americans than radical communist agitators. Americans have not lost enough of their senses to be taken in by the hate, greed, and envy of the communist agitators.

You may ask, “How can you say that?”

When our Founding Fathers drafted the Declaration of Independence, they were strengthened by their faith in God. Most of them were Christian. They knew true freedom came from our relationship with Jesus Christ. The Apostle John said it best:

“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ‘If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’ They answered him, ‘We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, "You will become free”?’ Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.’“ (John 8:31-36, emphasis added)

All throughout that incredible document, God-breathed principles were clearly laid out. The Founders knew that our rights come from God, not government. If government gives you rights, it can also take away those rights. Regardless of what Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, who apparently is ignorant of our founding document, says, our rights do not come from government.

Next week I’ll give more evidence of why we should not fear that the scourge of communism will take over our nation.
