“An estimated 90,000 people living in 350 cities and towns across the country got nearly $400 million in taxpayer-funded crop subsidies last year, says a top environmental watchdog group.

The data was revealed by the Environmental Working Group in conjunction with a Senate Agricultural committee review of farm spending, in light of the deficit reduction and debt ceiling fights in Washington, D.C. Fights over cuts to ethanol subsidies in particular have broken out on Capitol Hill.

The group culled the estimates out of its farm subsidy database, which it says in a statement relies on “millions of new government records” tracking an estimated $222.8 billion in farm subsidies that the federal government has released from 1995 to 2010.

Farm subsidies were launched after the Great Depression to help struggling small farmers plant corn, soybeans, rice, cotton and wheat.

The payments were meant for farmers who actually work the land, not absentee land owners and investors, the group says.

It also points to the “actively engaged” rule adopted in a 2008 bill, that “was designed to ensure that federal payments go only to those who are truly working the land,” the group says in the statement.

But the group says an estimated $394 million in farm subsidies have been given to “absentee land owners and investors living in every major American city."

It adds that "in 2010, 7,767 residents of just five Texas cities – Lubbock, Amarillo, Austin, San Angelo and Corpus Christi – collected $61,748,945 in taxpayer-funded subsidies. Residents of Lubbock booked $24,839,154 in payments, putting it at the top of cities with 100,000+ populations that are home to farm subsidy recipients,” the watchdog group said in a statement.

The group added: “In Spokane, Wash., 1,224 residents cashed $10,580,181 in farm subsidy checks. In New York City, 290 farm subsidy recipients pulled in a total of $800,887, while 203 residents of Miami got $2,472,071. In San Francisco, 179 residents split $1,094,172, while 1,235 residents of Memphis got $4,009,874 and 1,146 people in Denver received $3,394,550. In Arizona, 1,205 residents of Phoenix, Mesa and Scottsdale divvied up $8,173,269 in payments.”

“We are sending handouts to Wall Street investors and absentee landlords instead of working toward creating a safety net for working farm and ranch families,” said EWG Senior Vice-President Craig Cox in a statement. “It’s simply unjustifiable.” Cox manages EWG’s agriculture programs from the organization’s Ames, Iowa, office.

The Dept. of Agriculture’s acting undersecretary, Michael Scuse, has reportedly said that people living in urban areas are entitled to crop subsidies if they are active in agriculture. People are eligible for payments if they provide land, equipment or capital, or labor and management.”

“With great fanfare and elite media sympathy, Jose Antonio Vargas publicly declared himself an “undocumented immigrant” this week.

“Undocumented” my you-know-what. In the felony-friendly pages of The New York Crimes—er, Times—the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist turned illegal-alien activist spilled the beans on all the illegal IDs he amassed over the years. He had documents coming out of his ears.       


The Times featured full-color photos of Vargas’ fake document trove—including a fake passport with a fake name, a fake green card and a Social Security card his grandfather doctored for him at a Kinko’s. He committed perjury repeatedly on federal I-9 employment eligibility forms. In 2002, while pursuing his journalism career goals, an immigration lawyer told him he needed to accept the consequences of his law-breaking and return to his native Philippines.     

Following the rules would have meant a 10-year bar to reentry into America.

Making false claims of citizenship is a felony offense. Document fraud is a felony offense.      


Vargas, who frames himself as a helpless victim, freely chose instead to secure yet more dummy documents. He used a friend’s address to obtain an Oregon driver’s license under false pretenses. It gave him an eight-year golden ticket to travel by car, board trains and airplanes, work at prestigious newspapers, and even gain access to the White House—where crack Secret Service agents allowed him to attend a state dinner using his bogus Social Security number.

At least Vargas tells the truth when he says he’s not alone. Go visit a 7-11 in the D.C. suburbs. Or the countless vendors in MacArthur Park in East L.A. Or any of the 19 cities in 11 states from Massachusetts to Ohio to Kentucky where a massive, Mexico-based “highly sophisticated and violent” fraudulent-document trafficking ring operated until February 2011.

“Undocumented workers” and “undocumented immigrants” have plenty of documents.

The persistent use of these open-borders euphemisms to describe Vargas and countless millions like him is a perfect illumination of the agenda-driven, dominant progressive media.

They’re as activist inside their newsrooms as Vargas is out in the open now.

Bleeding-heart editors were hoaxed by a prominent colleague, exposed to liability, and yet still champion his serial subversion of the law.

San Francisco Chronicle editor Phil Bronstein bragged that he was “duped” by Vargas, but endorses his “subterfuge”because Vargas’ lobbying campaign for the illegal-alien student bailout known as the DREAM Act “just might lubricate the politically tarred-up wheels of government and help craft sane immigration policy.”
 


Who’s insane?

The Vargas deceit is not an object lesson about America’s failure to show compassion. It’s another stark reminder of America’s dangerous failure to learn from 9/11.

Time and again, security experts have warned about how jihadists have exploited lax immigration and ID enforcement.

Driver’s licenses are gateways into the American mainstream. They allow residents to establish an identity and gain a foothold into their communities. They help you open bank accounts, enter secure facilities, board planes, and do things like drive tractor-trailers carrying hazardous materials.      


It’s been nearly 10 years since several of the 19 9/11 hijackers operated in the country using hundreds of illicitly obtained fake driver’s licenses and IDs.

Most states tightened licensing rules, yet Vargas easily obtained a driver’s license not only in Oregon, but more recently in Washington State. He again used a friend’s residence to pass muster. Washington State’s licensing bureaucracy still does not check citizenship.

The man sitting in the White House campaigned to keep driver’s license laws as loose as possible for the open-borders lobby. He appointed illegal-alien lobbyists to top federal immigration positions. His head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement just signed a memo pushing the DREAM Act through by administrative fiat. And the privacy of illegal aliens still trumps national security.   


I ask again: Who’s insane?      


Vargas believes his sob story is an argument for giving up on immigration enforcement and passing a mass amnesty.

It’s a sob story, all right. Homeland security officials across the country should be weeping at the open mockery Vargas and his enablers have made of the law.”

“According to our friends over at HotAir.com, the DREAM Act has been rammed through by an ICE Executive Memo despite its rejection by Congress and the American people twice.

A memo written by ICE Director John Morton and sent to all agents in charge, chief counsel, office directors and special agents, states ICE doesn't have enough resources to deal with illegal immigrants who happen to be students, and therefore, they should have less of a chance of deportation due to the criteria used when making decisions about who will be deported known as "prosecutorial discretion." According the the ICE memo:

“One of ICE's central responsibilities is to enforce the nation's civil immigration laws in coordination with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Citizenship and . Immigration Services(USCIS). ICE, however, has limited resources to remove those illegally in the United States. ICE must prioritize the use of its enforcement personnel, detention space, and removal assets to ensure that the aliens it removes represent, as much as reasonably possible, the agency's enforcement priorities, namely the promotion of national security, border security, public safety, and the integrity ofthe immigration system. These priorities are outlined in the ICE Civil Immigration Enforcement Priorities memorandum of March 2, 2011, which this memonmdum is intended to support.

Because the agency is confronted with more administrative violations than its resources can address, the agency must regularly exercise "prosecutorial discretion" ifit is to prioritize its efforts. In basic terms, prosecutorial discretion is the authority of an agency charged with enforcing a law to decide to what degree to enforce the law against a particular individual. ICE, like anyother law enforcement agency, has prosecutorial discretion and may exercise"it in the ordinary course of enforcement1.

When ICE favorably exercises prosecutorial discretion, it essentially decides not to assert the full scope of the enforcement authority available to the agency in a given case.

Criteria Considered, note the bolded lines:

Factors to Consider When Exercising Prosecutorial Discretion



When weighing whether an exercise of prosecutorial discretion may be warranted for a given alien, ICE officers, agents,and attorneys should consider all relevant factors, including, but not limited to
  


•the agency's civil immigration enforcement priorities;
•the person's length of presence in the United States, with particular consideration given
to presence while in lawful status;


•the circumstances of the person's arrival in the United States and the manner of his or her
entry, particularly if the alien came to the United States as a young child;


•the person's pursuit of education in the United States, with particular consideration given to those who have graduated from a U.S. high school or have successfully pursued or are pursuing a college or advanced degrees at a legitimate institution of higher education in the United States;


•whether the person, or the person's immediate relative,has served in the U.S. military,
reserves, or national guard, with particular consideration given to those who served in
combat;


•the person's criminal history, including arrests, prior convictions, or outstanding arrest
warrants;


•the person's immigration history, including any prior removal, outstanding order of
removal, prior denial o f status, or evidence o f fraud;


•whether the person poses a national security or public safety concern;


•the person's ties and contributions to the community, including family relationships;


•the person's ties to the home country and condition~in the country;


•the person's age, with particular consideration given to minors and the elderly;


•whether the person has a U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse, child, or parent;


•whether the person is the primary caretaker o f a person with a mental or physical
disability, minor, or seriously ill relative;  

•whether the person or the person's spouse is pregnant or nursing;


•whether the person or the person's spouse suffers from severe mental or physical illness;


•whether the person's nationality renders removal unlikely;


•whether the person is likely to be granted temporary or permanent status or other relief
 from removal, including as a relative of a U.S. citizen or permanent resident;

•whether the person is likely to be granted temporary or permanent status or other relief 
from removal, including as an asylum seeker, or a victim of domestic violence, human-trafficking, or other crime; .and


•whether the person is currently cooperating or has cooperated with federal, state or local law enforcement authorities, such as ICE, the U.S Attorneys or Department of Justice, the Department of Labor, or National Labor Relations Board, among others.



This list is not exhaustive and no one factor is determinative. ICE officers, agents, and attorneys should always consider prosecutorial discretion on a case-by-case basis. The decisions should be based on the totality of the circumstances, with the goal of conforming to ICE's enforcement priorities.

There you have it folks. The DREAM Act, rejected by Congress, would have given those in the country illegally, brought here by their parents who broke U.S. immigration law, U.S. citizenship so long as they go to college or join the military. Despite Congressional rejection and the rejection by the American people, the DREAM Act has been enacted by a process of ICE agents deciding who should and should not be deported on a case-by-case basis rather than equally under the law. As usual, Congress doesn't matter and the opinion of the American people doesn't matter to the Obama Administration. If you're here illegally, so long as you go to college or join the military, you're good to go. 

Maybe a better question to ask would be: What criteria actually gets an illegal immigrant deported? Since there seems to be so many exceptions to the breaking the law by entering the U.S. without permission.

This also brings up the question of what exactly the priorities of ICE are if deportations are determined on a case-by-case basis? If the federal government would secure the border to keep more illegal immigrants from entering the country in the first place, ICE wouldn't have to "prioritize" deportations due to a lack of resources. Until the border is secure, the problem is just going to get worse.

Charles Krauthammer while talking with Fox News' Chris Wallace called the move lawless:

“This is outright lawlessness on the part of the administration,” argued syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer on a discussion panel with Fox News’ anchor Chris Wallace. “Whatever the politics of this, we do have a Constitution. And under it, the Legislature, the Congress enacts the laws and the executive executes them. It doesn’t make them up.
 

“The DREAM Act was rejected by Congress,” Krauthammer continued. “It is now being enacted by the executive, despite the express will of the Congress. That is lawless. It may not be an explicit executive order; it’s an implicit one.”

Five hundred years ago common folks were illiterate. Authorities ordered people’s lives. Freedom, as we know it, is a rarity.  Not many are aware of how much modern technology means to freedom.  The revelation only recently came to me, when I decided to set up a Web site of my own on the Internet.

When I want to know anything, I go to Google. From Google’s information, I picked Bluehost for my Internet host. From Bluehost’s information, I picked WordPress for my format.  These popular choices paid off.

My objective was to spread my message.  I named my site mymiraclemessage.com.  It worked. No one had chosen that name.  Comments started appearing to my blogs, such as “I just stumbled on your site but I’m glad I did. I’ll be back.”  Other comments informed me that they were spreading the word.  WordPress requires that I approve before comments appear on my blogs. It was not long until too many comments to read and approve were coming. As of now, I’ve approved of 3,168. There are 6,525 pending my approval.

From the comments, I found that most, if not all, had a product or a service of their own to sell.  Naturally, if they said something I liked, I would approve. They would be exposed.  When they saw that I was receiving a lot of comments, and that their exposure would be greater, we call this free enterprise.  First, I had to offer something generally useful.  Offering it free of charge helped. Were it not for the fact that I’m a disabled World War II veteran the public has been very generous with, I’d have to charge for my service.  We like to give back to those who give.

Besides being free, the content of my message has a positive effect in that it is one-one-one.   Also, my message is not run-of-the-mill.  Many comments inform me that after a great search the poster has finally found a message that answers his or her questions.  In the twilight of my life, I know I’ve learned something valuable that others now know. The reward is immeasurable.

“Rep. Fred Upton tells Newsmax that the Obama administration made the wrong move in releasing 30 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, leaving the nation vulnerable to future crises when that oil could be needed desperately.

The Michigan Republican, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, also says that, instead of imperiling the safety net of reserved oil, the United States should focus on the expansion of energy projects to increase oil production in North America.

In an exclusive interview with Newsmax.TV, Upton, who was first elected in 1986, discussed the decision to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

"Let's face it - it is a bad idea," he declares.

“I can remember the gas lines back in the 1970s,” Upton says. “This [Reserve] was an effort by every administration — Republican and Democrat — to put oil away for when in fact there could be a blockade, there could be some major disruption of oil, so the U.S. could continue to function with the safety net of oil in the tank.

"Using it to offset prices takes that emergency blanket away from us."

A million barrels a day is what they’re going to do to tap this resource. At the same time, we’ve got a number of pieces of legislation or even administrative actions that this administration can take that, in fact, would allow at least that much oil, if not more, to come from drilling off the coast of Alaska, to build a pipeline down from Canada, which means hundreds of thousands of jobs, or increase our production in the Gulf.

“The price of oil has actually gone down over the last couple of weeks. This is not the right signal to send now. It takes away that reserve that we might at some point need down the road.”

The Obama administration has argued that the release of oil is needed to offset the disruption in the oil supply caused by the unrest in Libya.

Upton comments: “The unrest in Libya started last March. It’s almost July. If this was a tool they wanted to use to offset the big spike in gas prices we saw in April and May, it might have been a different story.

“This takes away from the potential down the road of having a reserve to offset a complete disruption from the Middle East.”

Asked whether this makes the country more vulnerable to an oil disruption, Upton responds: “Exactly right. The Strategic Petroleum Reserve was not set up to serve as a price indicator. It was set up for if we actually have a disruption like we had in the 1970s.”

He agrees that this could create a national security problem if the administration decides to extend the release beyond the 30 million barrels.

“The focus ought to be on the expansion of domestic resources,” he tells Newsmax.

“A third of our oil comes from the Gulf and already, because we’ve said no to more permits and plans over the last year, production has actually declined by more than 100,000 barrels a day from what was projected just last fall. That’s not the approach we should be taking.

“We need a policy that begins to send a message to the speculators on Wall Street that we’re going to be serious about domestic production. Why is it that the United States gave Brazil $2 billion to develop their oil resources and yet we’ve said no here? Why is it that we’re not working with Canada, which will be producing more than three or four million barrels a day from oil sand, and we’ve stalled on the application to build a pipeline?

“If we continue to say we may not be interested, Canada is going to turn around and build that pipeline not to the United States but instead to Vancouver, and they’re going to be selling it off to the Chinese.”

Upton adds that bills in the works regarding energy policy could prove useful.

“The bill that we passed out of the Energy and Commerce Committee this week, which would get a decision on this Canadian pipeline, passed with pretty good bipartisan support and that bill is expected on the House floor as early as next month.

“So there are some pretty good prospects I think for trying to increase domestic supply, at least North American supply when you include Canada, which will offset some of the Middle Eastern oil that we continue to import.”

“Like most of the American media, Pinch Sulzberger’s New York Times has ignored the ATF’s Fast and Furious and Gunrunner scandals for months. The fact that one or more Obama Regime members at the Justice Department encouraged other Obama Regime members at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to sell thousands of weapons to illegal straw purchasers for Mexican drug cartels and then assist in transporting the guns across the border…well these just aren’t the sort of stories that grace the Times’ front page.

After all, Pinch’s pride and joy isn’t known for reporting that its favorite political party is responsible for the deaths of countless Mexicans and at least two American federal employees.

Sure, back in February the Times wrote, “the Obama administration must awake to the urgent need to combat the illegal trafficking of assault weapons across the border.” But then, the “Paper of Record” probably didn’t know it was the Obama administration itself that was doing the trafficking!

But Pinch has finally broken silence on the scandals, mainly because congressional committees of Senator Charles Grassley and Representative Darrell Issa have used testimony from ATF whistleblowers to publicly barbecue some of his favorite Obama apparatchiks. And that means the Times must ride to the rescue to straighten out the reading public.

So with its usual attention to fact and detail, the Times has reported that the deliberate, Regime-initiated sale of more than 2,000 weapons to known straw purchasers is actually the result of gun ownership being “such an ingrained part of the culture in Arizona…that it is difficult to tell straw purchasers from legal ones without conducting surveillance to determine how the guns [are] being used.”

In other words, it’s really American citizens enjoying their 2^nd amendment rights who are to blame for that little ATF/Justice Department kerfuffle which cost Brian Terry and Jaime Zapata their lives. It was American gun owners who caused the ATF to place thousands of weapons in the hands of Mexican criminals, paved their way across the border and demoralized so many truly dedicated agents at the ATF.

So the next time a gun is sold, remember the ATF can’t tell if the buyer is a law abiding American citizen or a Mexican drug lord.

Then again, maybe the Obama Administration just doesn’t see much difference.

“During a recent speech at the American Constitution Society (ACS), United States Attorney General Eric Holder lauded our American civilian court system as “our most effective terror-fighting weapon.”

Holder’s address, along with his whole attorney general career, reflects a flawed ideology that believes wrapping enemy combatants in the American flag will somehow steer them towards full disclosure.

We are fooling ourselves to believe our enemies aren’t smart enough to use habeas corpus against us — which the Constitution does not extend to non-citizens held outside U.S. boundaries. While the good cop routine might work on some of the more impressionable, the determined fanatics will take advantage of the situation. Sometimes you need a“Jack Bauer” to intervene to make these people sweat.

Holder’s implied moral high ground originates from the assumption that captured enemy combatants will be mistreated – unless they are blanketed by the security of our Constitution.

Holder fails to recognize that our military is bound by the same Constitution, as well as the Geneva Convention.

The last time I checked, those who strayed away from their obligations to constitutional rule of law were duly convicted of crimes. Their actions, along with those of Attorney General Holder, do nothing but undermine the efforts of so many charged with keeping the rest of us safe from the criminals they imprison.

A lack of confidence in the military tribunal system seems to pervade the Justice Department under Holder as service members assigned to Guantanamo Bay do their duty honorably and faithfully, every day.

Case in point is the recent indictment of the two alleged terrorists, Waad Ramadan Alwan and Mohanad Shareef Hammadi, who made their way to Kentucky after they were mistakenly granted refugee status in 2009 – despite being involved in insurgency activities against American troops, in Iraq.

Last month they were indicted for allegedly providing support to al-Qaeda in Iraq, from Kentucky. Alwan was charged with conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction to kill U.S. nationals and attempting to provide material support for terrorists. Hammadi was charged with conspiracy to transfer and possess weapons and with attempting to provide material support to terrorists.

An ABC News May 31, 2011, report disclosed that Alwan told a FBI informant that his “lunch and dinner would be an American soldier” and found that his fingerprints “matched an unexploded IED that U.S. troops recovered” in Iraq in 2005.

Regardless, AG Holder believes these quasi “citizens” should be afforded Constitutional rights rather than having their refugee status revoked and be given a one way ticket to Cuba.

Meanwhile, you can’t throw a rock without hitting someone who thinks the prisoners at Guantanamo spend every day within an inch of their lives, existing in some hellish, Abu Ghraib nightmare.

In reality, Gitmo detainees have quite the gig. Gitmo is a state-of-the-art facility with a $12 million courtroom located on a tropical island where balmy breezes blow. Detainees receive first class medical and dental care, educational opportunities, outdoor recreation, have access to satellite television stations, balanced meals, and have hordes of civil rights lawyers at their disposal.

It should be noted that actionable information was gathered from Gitmo that aided in Osama bin Laden’s capture, and whether we like it or not, Gitmo is a necessary evil that was built to protect American citizens from the evil ones who reside there.

Civil rights groups whine about abuse concerns for the detainees, yet sit in silence when the real abuse is suffered by our own military – at the hands of the detainees. Former US Marine and Department of Defense contractor Rajai Hakki described the abuse taking place at Gitmo in a May 31, 2011, Huffington Post article,“The Other Side of Guantanamo.” Hakki describes the horror of guards having “urine and feces thrown in their faces,” others being bitten and spat upon, and black guards were recipients of “racist and demeaning” words. Hakki also witnessed detainees injuring themselves in order to make false torture claims.

At some point, Attorney General Holder must be held liable for decisions he’s made that favor America’s enemies over American citizens. His resignation would be a reasonable step in that direction.”

My today's title is Glenn Beck's thought, only my thought is quite different than Glenn’s.  Whatever works.  Glenn is informative, but behind the curve.

I've been retired and government entitled 23 years. I was productive 38 years.  The ratio of work to retirement, tells us why America is going bankrupt. The system is whacko, a political nightmare. We are living in the past and nobody can do a thing about it. Unbelievable! The least I can do is to let taxpayers know what years of retirement contemplation have done.  Better that we look within for our answers. I'm repeating what Jesus advised, at least the way I read the scriptures.  The choice is yours.  Listen to your own heart, or the recognized authorities and face the grim consequences.

America's Constitution was written by men who professed a belief in natural law and nature's god, which Glenn interprets as the judo-Christian belief. I don’t think so. Yesterday, Glenn spoke of an authoritarian past that would make Hitler look like a rookie.  He told his vast audience that two days before Columbus set sail, Spain purged itself of Jews. I wondered why he didn't mention the Holy Catholic Church’s Inquisition, which was in full swing, the authoritarian idea that out of fear of the consequences you will do as ordered.  Christians believe we are born in sin and until we confess and ask for God’s grace we are assured of eternal damnation. It’s a money maker. The authorities sell indulgences. Glenn informed us about Genghis Kahn. He killed a whole town to let the next town know what to expect. It worked so well that people many generations later still remembered, no matter what, to let authority have its way.  When Christ was crucified everyone at least tacitly agreed it was the right thing to do.  Jesus said before the cock crowed his disciples would deny him three times.   

My transition began when I was age 49, when I was at rock bottom.  My Christian belief had held me captive. When Glenn was at rock bottom he reunited with his Mormon faith. When I was at rock bottom I studied America’s Constitution and felt that voices of the past were speaking to me. I had a bigger than life calling.  I don’t confine my belief in God to religious doctrines or dogmas.  I believe like the author of The Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, in natural law and nature’s god, without reference to supernatural revelation.  I believe that God is in everyone at birth; we are not born in sin.  There is no need to confess.  God loves us all. We should not fear eternal damnation.  My way of thinking allowed me to depart my old life and enter an unknown fate without fear.  I was free to rediscover myself, my real self. Enter “natural man, the enemy of god.”  At one point, I was locked out of my home, thanks to the IRS.  Faith in myself stopped me from caving in. In the end, I won big.  Did Glenn look to his Mormon faith when he pulled himself up from the depths of despair, or did he believe in himself and God?  Let Glenn believe what he wants.  Let me believe what I want. Both of us succeeded.

Glenn is highly concerned over the fate of Israel. Toward the end of the Old Testament, Habakkuk cried out to the Lord. “Oh Lord, how long shall I cry and thou will not hear! even cry out to thee of violence, and thou will not save!”  Habakkuk’s cry was the story of the Jewish religion, the story even to this very day.  That story ended with the coming of Jesus with his idea of a God of love—by no means authoritarian.  Jesus gave us the kingdom of God, an empowering internal God.  One can look within, find his own answers. That’s exactly what I did.  I listened to voices of the past, those who had experienced the suffering of the authoritarian world Glenn talked about. They were my spiritual guides.

Glenn’s reward has been great. My reward has been great.  What I believe saved me was the “Higher Law,” the background of American constitutional law.  Glenn is a Mormon. I’m a secular humanist, without reference to supernatural revelation.  I’m for human values that place  the individual in the driver’s seat, the bane of authorities of all stripes.   

Glenn has his list of books to read, I have mine. With respect to Jesus’ statement in the Lord’s Prayer, in earth as it is in heaven, I offer Cosmos and Psyche by Richard Tarnas.  On the back cover we read, “Richard Tarnas demonstrates the existence of an astonishingly consistent correspondence between the planetary alignments and the archetypal patterns of human history and biography.”  He’s talking about those voices from the past I’ve above mentioned.  “Based on 30 years of meticulous research, this brilliant book points to a radical change in our understanding of the cosmos, shining new light and on our own critical age. It opens a new cosmic horizon that reunites science and religion, intellect and soul, modern reason and ancient wisdom.”  

With respect to the reunification of science and religion, In The Physics of Consciousness: The Quantum Mind and the Meaning of Life by Evan Harris Walker, we read, under “A God for Tomorrow,” “it has only been with the advent of quantum theory that we have discovered proof that we exist as something more than pieces of matter.” Glenn never offers or supports the books I read. Scientific proof of God and the reuniting of science and religion is not in Glenn’s scope of knowledge.  He’s not up to speed.

“In the development of quantum theory, the observer emerges as a co-equal in the foundry of creation. . . The tests of Bell’s theorem have shown us that objective reality as it has been conceived is not the true fabric of reality.  The observer interacts with matter. Consciousness, the substance of this newfound reality that defines the observer, has fundamental existence.  It is the quantum mind that is the basic reality.”

For the first time, science has used its instruments to fit existence into the overall tapestry of reality, and to understand mind as including conscious experience and will.  Faith is not blind faith. “In my father’s house there are many mansions.”  The progressive order of the universe leaves us with increasing purpose. The religious are reactive, as are liberals with their senseless ideas of progressive government. For the past century, believing she is invincible, America has been living in progressive La La Land. Time to grow up.

“In a front page story about a major FBI terrorism investigation, The Washington Post has reported that the targets include “Chicagoans who crossed paths with Obama when he was a young state senator and some who have been active in labor unions that supported his political rise.” The implication is that the trail could lead to the White House.

This is an unusual investigation that does not primarily involve Islamists. Instead, it is focused on elements of the old international communist networks that many people mistakenly thought had faded away with the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Those under investigation are suspected of providing support to foreign terrorist organizations such as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in the Middle East, a Marxist group. The Post called them “Colombian and Palestinian groups designated by the U.S. government as terrorists.”

The investigations came into public view last September when the FBI raided the homes of several “activists,” as the Post called them. Some lived in Chicago.

One of the targets, Tom Burke, was a union organizer for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). He was so confident he would get a fair shake from the Post that he provided the paper with a photo of himself shaking hands with Barack Obama.

The other apparent intention was to send a message to the President and Attorney General Eric Holder that any investigation of Burke might lead to Obama.

The Post suggested that investigations of labor union activists might jeopardize their support for Obama’s 2012 presidential run.

Indeed, it could therefore threaten his re-election bid, if investigations determine that the activists did more than “cross paths” with the President.

Deep inside the article, in the 29^th paragraph, we find out that some of the “activists” are associated with a group known as the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), a Marxist-Leninist organization. Burke is a member of the FRSO, which the Post admitted was “far left.”

The obvious question is why Obama, as a state senator in Illinois, would ever have “crossed paths” with such people.

The answer goes beyond just union support for the candidate. The “far-left” networks that include the FRSO, the Communist Party USA, the New American Movement, and the Democratic Socialists of America backed and even spawned Obama’s political career.

Don’t forget that Weather Underground leaders Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn hosted a fundraiser for his first run for political office.

The same networks also backed CIA Director Leon Panetta’s career when he was a congressman from Santa Cruz, California. This helps explain why Obama would pick Panetta, with no intelligence background, to run the intelligence agency. They are cut from the same cloth.

Nevertheless, on Tuesday, the Senate voted 100-0 in favor of Panetta’s nomination as Secretary of Defense. It was a classic case of “head in the sand” politics, ignoring not only Panetta’s long-time relationship with Communist Party member Hugh DeLacy but his record as a congressman in undercutting then-President Reagan’s pro-defense policies at every turn.

Obama and Panetta were players in the “progressive” community, which since the days of Henry Wallace, presidential candidate of the Progressive Party, has had a red tint. Obama had his own communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, a Communist Party member under FBI investigation for 19 years, while Panetta gave DeLacy, who had traveled to China to meet with Soviet and Chinese intelligence agents, sensitive reports on U.S. military matters. Any notion that Panetta had no awareness of DeLacy’s Communist affiliation was obliterated when Panetta in 1983 inserted a tribute to DeLacy into the Congressional Record, praising his resistance to “McCarthyism.”

Former FBI agent Max Noel once told me that the Bureau used to investigate candidates for federal employment by analyzing Character, Associates, Reputation, and Loyalty to the United States. The first letters in those words make up the acronym CARL. By the standard of “A”—Associates—Panetta flunks. But so does Obama.

Another sensitive case involves Huma Abedin, a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and wife of disgraced Rep. Anthony Weiner.  Walid Shoebat and Ben Barrack have reported that Arab newspapers have revealed that Huma Abedin’s mother is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, a group whose goal is to subvert Western civilization. Jamie Glazov of Front Page Magazine asks Robert Spencer, “There is a remote possibility that Abedin is actually being deceptive in her marriage to Weiner to follow Muslim Brotherhood instructions and to infiltrate the U.S. government, correct?” Spencer replies, “Certainly. That is a very real possibility, and it should be investigated. But the only ones who have the means to do so are mainstream media journalists who are either clueless or complicit.”

It may also be the case that the FBI never investigated Abedin’s background.

As the FBI does not vet presidential candidates for national security purposes, we know there would have been no FBI investigation into Obama’s own background, associations, loyalty, and overall fitness for office. The FBI only probes those being considered for some federal positions under the president. They should have therefore investigated Panetta. But there is no indication that he was ever properly vetted. Now he is confirmed as Secretary of Defense because conservative Republican Senators were apparently afraid of being accused of McCarthyism for questioning his past associations.

On the other hand, the “progressives” are raising hell with Obama and want him to rein in the FBI. They want to further emasculate the agency charged with ferretting out subversives and terrorist support networks.

As the Post noted, “nine members of Congress have written letters to the administration” complaining about the FBI probe of Burke and other activists. The Post even noted that another one of the targets of the investigation, a union organizer named Tracy Molm, managed to arrange a meeting with Holder himself.

One of these congressional members is Muslim Rep. Keith Ellison, the foremost critic of Rep. Peter King’s hearings into radical Islam in America. “Shortly after the raids,” Ellison said, “I made inquiries to the FBI field office for more information. FBI Special Agent Boelter confirmed that an investigation was ongoing. He informed me that due to the pending nature of the investigation, he was prohibited from sharing any further information. However he gave me assurance that the purpose of the searches and service of subpoenas was not to punish or to suppress protected First Amendment activity.”

Pro-Marxist activist Medea Benjamin has said she managed to have a few words with Holder as well to complain about the probes. She is with the Code Pink group that travels to Gaza to meet with the terrorist group Hamas. She is also a staunch ally of Adam Kokesh, the “Russia Today” TV star who openly admits that he functions as a paid Russian agent of the Vladimir Putin regime.

Holder is receptive to this kind of appeal because of his friendship with Obama and record as Deputy Attorney General in the Clinton Administration for facilitating pardons and clemency for terrorists from the Puerto Rican FALN and Weather Underground. It is this record that puts the current investigations by the FBI in serious jeopardy.

The Post article has to be seen as a signal to Holder from those around Obama that he must act quickly to close down these investigations before they get too close for comfort to the Oval Office.

First, however, he has to make sure that the congressional investigations don’t get too close to Holder himself. It won’t look good for the Attorney General to be personally implicated in knowledge of the federal gunrunning schemes now under Congressional investigation that provided weapons to Mexican narco-terrorist cartels. The evidence already shows that federal authorities let guns fall into the hands of known criminals.”
