Climate Change is Not Decimating Bees

The false alarm is based on a February 7 study published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The study, however, is deeply flawed and does not change the very low likelihood of climate change seriously impacting bee populations. After examining the study, titled “Climate change contributes to widespread declines among bumble bees across continents” -- one immediately notices that there is a key issue missing that is not discussed in the paper at all: Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). In non-scientific jargon, CCD occurs when entire hives suddenly experience population crashes. CCD has been called the honeybee’s biggest enemy by scientific researchers. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says: “There have been many theories about the cause of CCD, but the researchers who are leading the effort to find out why are now focused on these factors: Increased losses due to the invasive varroa mite a pest of honeybees. New or emerging diseases such as Israeli Acute Paralysis virus and the gut parasite Nosema. Pesticide poisoning through exposure to pesticides applied to crops or for in-hive insect or mite control. Stress bees experience due to management practices such as transportation to multiple locations across the country for providing pollination services. Changes to the habitat where bees forage. Inadequate forage/poor nutrition. Potential immune-suppressing stress on bees caused by one or a combination of factors identified above.” Needless to say, the many causes of CCD identified above don’t get a single mention in this new study, which cites climate change as the overwhelming “cause” of declining bee populations. The study’s methods are quite dubious. The public option is not an easy fix for health care

{ aei.org } ~ Government insurance advocates who are skeptical of Medicare for All’s prospects are placing their hopes on the “public option” as an easier-to-enact step in the same direction... All of the leading competitors to commie-Bernie Sanders, who remains unyielding in his commitment to single-payer health care, have embraced some version of what socialist-Pete Buttigieg calls “Medicare for all who want it.” In general terms, with a public option, the federal government would run its own health plan in competition with private insurance. But for political and practical reasons, starting up a new public insurance plan is easier said than done. Recent efforts to establish public-option plans on a small scale — in Washington State and Colorado — demonstrate some of the challenges of trying to create a nationwide public offering. In both states, officials were forced to scale back their ambitions because of financial concerns and industry opposition. They retreated from creating genuine public option plans — administered by the government — and chose instead to contract with existing private insurers to run “state-directed” offerings. Leveraging existing private plans avoids the expense and financial risk of replicating the functions of commercial insurance within a state bureaucracy. Mr. socialist-Buttigieg and other candidates associate their public option proposals with Medicare, but those plans would likely have little to do with the actual program — with good reason. The Medicare benefit falls short of what the candidates want to offer to voters. For instance, Medicare beneficiaries are not protected against catastrophic costs. They are not automatically covered for prescription drugs. And Medicare requires beneficiaries to pay substantial sums out of pocket for hospital admissions and other care. A public option would operate alongside existing private plans, with consumers deciding which offering is best for them. That requires fair competition, with the public option subject to the same rules as private insurance. German Court Rejects Attempt
to Enshrine Sharia Law

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ Germany's Federal Constitutional Court has ruled that the constitutionally guaranteed religious freedoms of Muslims can be curtailed if public displays of religiosity... in this case wearing Islamic headscarves in German courtrooms — endanger the ideological and religious neutrality of the state. The court's landmark ruling effectively smashes a backdoor effort to enshrine Sharia law into the German legal system. The case involves a 38-year-old German-Moroccan law student who was born in Frankfurt and customarily wears a headscarf in public. In January 2017, she began legal training in the German state of Hesse, where the law bans any expression of religion in its courtrooms for judges, lawyers and legal trainees. According to the law, legal trainees (rechtsreferendar) are allowed to wear a headscarf — except when they are performing certain official tasks in which they serve as representatives of the judiciary or the state. This means, for instance, that trainee lawyers are not allowed to wear a headscarf when presiding over a hearing, taking evidence or representing the public prosecution office. The complainant filed a lawsuit claiming that the headscarf ban interfered with her right to freedom of religion. She argued that she was being forced to choose between performing the intended tasks or fulfilling a religious clothing requirement that she considers imperative. { thehill.com } ~ Three groups are suing the Trump administration over a plan to allocate an additional $3.8 billion in Department of Defense (DOD) funding for the border wall... "The president is doubling down on his unlawful scheme to raid taxpayer funds for a xenophobic campaign promise that is destroying national treasures, harming the environment, and desecrating tribal lands,” said Dror Ladin, an attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The ACLU, along with the Sierra Club and Southern Border Communities Coalition (SBCC), filed the suit in federal court in California on Friday. DOD notified Congress this month that it would transfer an additional $3.8 billion to be used for the wall. The notice to Congress said that the money would come from weapons programs like the F-35 fighter jet and would go toward the “support of higher priority items.” It said the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) “has identified areas along the southern border of the United States that are being used by individuals, groups, and transnational criminal organizations as drug smuggling corridors, and determined that the construction of additional physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the United States border is necessary in order to impede and deny drug smuggling activities.” The new lawsuit claims that the administration has "acted to circumvent Congress’s exclusive control over appropriations" and that its action "will have devastating effects on the environment." "The Trump administration’s illegal transfer of billions of dollars for wall construction has created a disaster in the borderlands,” said Sierra Club managing attorney Gloria Smith in a statement. “The destruction of cultural sites, Tribal burial grounds, endangered species, protected cacti and water resources shows that Trump will stop at nothing for this wall — not irreplaceable resources nor the Constitution," Smith added. Last year, President Trump declared a national emergency and announced that he would reallocate Defense Department funds to construction of the border wall after Congress did not allocate as much money as he wanted for the project in the federal budget. Following that move, several groups accused the president of overreach. The Sierra Club, ACLU and SBCC previously sued the Trump administration over that decision. { gellerreport.com } ~ A senior official has claimed that the government of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has opened the borders for Syrian asylum seekers and other migrants... and will not prevent anyone from heading to Europe by land or by sea, Reuters reports. The move comes after the Turkish government claims to expect a wave of migrants after around one million people were displaced in Idlib. According to Turkish journalist Ragip Soylu, “Land and sea crossings to Europe would be free to pass for the NEXT 72 HOURS and Turkey will open the borders immediately.” Following the signing of the migrant agreement, brokered in 2015 and came into effect in 2016, between the European Union and Turkey, President Erdogan and his ministers have made repeated threats to open the border. Last year Erdogan made several threats to “open the gates” including a threat in September in which he demanded aid from European countries to build a “security zone” along the border to settle around one million asylum seekers. “Give us logistical support, and we can build houses up to 30 kilometres into the north of Syria,” he said and added, “Either that happens, or we open the gates.” As of September, EU spokeswoman Natasha Bertaud noted that the political bloc had paid Turkey 5.6 billion euros as part of the EU-Turkey migrant pact....

The Politics of a 'Fear Pandemic'
Mark Alexander Democrat Party leaders Sen. Chuck scumbag-Schumer and Rep. liar-Nancy Pelosi are in a quandary. They have to decide which of the headline tragedies today make for better political fodder — do they keep feeding the coronavirus fears, or do they put that on pause and politicize the Milwaukee murders in order to advance their gun-confiscation agenda?
Yes, their political modus operandi is just that causticly crass.
It follows the model perfected by Barack scumbag/liar-nObama and his then-chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, who openly declared, “You don’t ever want a good crisis to go to waste; it’s an opportunity to do things you think you could not do before.” And that is exactly what they did in 2008, when scumbag/liar-nObama used a pandemic of financial fear as his ticket to the presidency. At the time, even Bill scumbag/liar-Clinton admitted that the Democrats were responsible for that crisis because they resisted “efforts by Republicans in the Congress … to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.” scumbag/liar-Clinton himself had loosened up those standards 10 years earlier, with disastrous financial consequences but fortuitous political consequences.
My point is not to relitigate how the Democrats used that “fear pandemic” to ensure scumbag/liar-nObama’s election but to say they are experts at converting tragedy into political triumph. Their current “Hate Trump” platform is constructed on their perennial political foundation of fear, anger, and division.
At this point in the 2020 election cycle, Democrats are scrambling for any “opportunity to do things you think you could not do before” to enable them defeat Donald Trump, especially if they can’t dispense with Bernie Sanders. COVID-19, the scientific term for coronavirus, is providing them an election-year crisis that they won’t let go to waste, especially if it becomes a significant domestic health threat. They see the potential to convert coronavirus into Trump’s “Hurricane Katrina.”
In January, I wrote a comprehensive analysis, “The Flu and You,” putting the potential for a COVID-19 flu pandemic into perspective and offering helpful links on preparedness and response. At that time, the Trump administration was taking significant steps to prevent a viral spread in the U.S.
Monday of this week, reflecting concern about the economic impact of coronavirus, there was a 3.5% equities-market selloff — a bellwether indicator of economic concerns. For the record, there are other factors – equities are likely due a 10-15% correction, and the possibility that commie-Bernie Sanders could somehow win the 2020 presidential election is cause for a lot of concern among businesses and consumers. Responding to the selloff, Nate Jackson provided an update on COVID-19, noting how scumbag-Schumer and liar-Pelosi had their coronavirus crisis/fear machine at full throttle. liar-Pelosi claims the Trump administration’s request for $2.5 billion in funding was “long overdue and completely inadequate.” scumbag-Schumer declared that Trump is “asleep at the wheel.”
On Tuesday, Dr. Nancy Messonnier, an official at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), promoted a panic narrative that ran contrary to the Trump administration’s measured concern and effort to encourage calm. Messonnier, who is the sister of former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein (one of the coup co-conspirators), told Leftmedia reporters that the pandemic potential is “bad” and the “disruption to everyday life may be severe.” She declared, “It’s not so much of a question of if this will happen anymore but rather more of a question of exactly when this will happen.”
Let me be clear: Messonnier could be right. COVID-19 is estimated to be much more lethal than the .1% fatality rate of typical flu bugs, which have killed more than 60,000 Americans in a single year.
But her comments were irresponsible and played right into the Demos’ panic narrative — and another market selloff of 3.2%. The selloff continued into Wednesday and is not over. By undermining consumer and business confidence, and thus the equities markets, Democrats are playing politics with the wealth and job stability of all working Americans and their families. Democrats are quietly high-fiving each other in Capitol Hill cloakrooms, knowing that what is bad for America workers is bad for Trump’s reelection prospects.
Messonnier’s dire warnings necessitated an executive press conference Wednesday evening with President Trump and his key administration officials. In that conference, Trump appointed Vice President Mike Pence and Health Secretary Alex Azar to head the White House coronavirus-containment task force. Trump assured the public, “Whatever happens, we’re totally prepared,” adding the infection rates in the U.S. “may get a little bigger, [or] it may not get bigger at all.”
Of note regarding the “reliability” of reports from China’s communist regime, Trump said that China is containing the epidemic: “If you can count on the reports coming out of China, that spread has gone down.”
For his part, Mike Pence outlined the administration’s response thus far and plans moving forward: “[President Trump] declared a public health emergency. He suspended travel to the United States from China. He initiated quarantine efforts for American citizens returning, and he established the White House Coronavirus Task Force, which has literally met every single day. President Trump has directed me to lead a whole of government approach to address the coronavirus in this country. And I promise you: We will continue to bring the full resources of the federal government to bear to protect the American people… We’re all in this together. This is not the time for partisanship. This president will always put the health and safety of America first.”

US signs historic peace deal with Taliban,
Pompeo strikes cautious tone

{ foxnews.com } ~ The United States signed a historic peace treaty with Taliban militants on Saturday, aimed at ending the 18-year war in Afghanistan... that began after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spoke cautiously in front of Taliban leaders in Doha, Qatar, calling the agreement a “true test” of their commitment to peace. “We will closely watch the Taliban’s compliance with their commitments and calibrate the pace of our withdrawal to their actions. This is how we will ensure that Afghanistan never again serves as a base for international terrorists,” he said. Pompeo’s arrival in Doha, Qatar on Saturday followed reports that, just days earlier, he had informed a conference of U.S. ambassadors at the State Department that he was only attending the signing because President Trump has insisted on his participation, two people present told The Associated Press. “This agreement will mean nothing and today’s good feelings will not last if we don’t take concrete actions on commitments and promises that have been made,” Pompeo said, seemingly directed at his counterparts. Among those in attendance were leaders of the Taliban, who harbored Osama bin Laden and his Al Qaeda network as they plotted, and then celebrated, the hijackings of four airliners that were crashed into lower Manhattan, the Pentagon and a field in western Pennsylvania, killing almost 3,000 people. As part of the agreement, the U.S. is drawing back a number of the approximately 13,000 troops stationed there, although more than 8,000 will remain to ensure certain counter-terrorism conditions are met by the Taliban. Another condition of the agreement calls for the release of 5,000 Taliban members from Afghan-run jails, although it was not clear if the Afghan government will comply with that. A senior administration official told reporters earlier this week that the deal "explicitly mentions al Qaeda" and calls for the Taliban to cut all ties. { thenewamerican.com } ~ Texas, like 47 other states, uses a winner-take-all system in awarding all of its Electoral College votes. That process is constitutional... the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals said in its decision in a case announced on Wednesday. The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) had filed lawsuits across the country, arguing that the present system used in 48 states is unconstitutional, as it violates the concept of one-person, one-vote. But the three judges in the Fifth Circuit disagreed with the plaintiffs' reasoning, which they described as “flawed.” Judge Jerry Smith wrote, “Democratic elections necessarily result in winners and losers. The frustration of losing, however, does not violate the Constitution.” Smith was appointed by President Ronald Reagan, as was Judge W. Eugene Davis, but the third member of the appellate court that made a unanimous ruling, Judge Carl E. Stewart, was tapped by President scumbag/liar-Bill Clinton. The Constitution, in Article II, gives plenary, or full, power to each state’s legislature to determine the method in how their presidential electors are selected. “Each state shall appoint, in such manner as the legislature thereof may direct, a number of electors equal to the whole number of senators and representatives to which the state may be entitled in the Congress,” reads Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution.In other words, were a state legislature to decide to simply appoint their presidential electors, instead of following the popular vote in their state, they could just name the electors themselves. That is exactly what some states did in the early years of the Republic. But as the years passed and a more “democratic” spirit prevailed, state legislatures began to pass laws that stipulated that the winner of the popular vote in their state would get all of its electoral votes. Whereupon, political parties began to run candidates for presidential-elector positions pledged to support the party’s nominee. Technically, then, voters were voting for the electors pledged to support the nominee of a political party, and not for the candidate themselves. Today, Texas law awards all of its electoral votes to the party whose candidate has won the popular vote — or at least a plurality more votes than any other single candidate. Only two states have opted to allocate their electoral votes in a different way — Maine and Nebraska. In those two states, the winner of each congressional district gets one electoral vote, and the winner of the state gets two votes because each state gets two senators, and thus, each state gets an electoral vote for each of those two senators. In 2016, when Republican nominee Donald Trump won the presidential election, Democratic nominee scumbag/liaqr-Hillary Clinton won Maine’s overall popular vote, but lost one of the two congressional districts. In three new surveys, all taken in the last five days, loose lips liar-Biden leads commie-Bernie Sanders by 15 points, 16 points, and 20 points. In two others, he leads by 8 points and 4 points. loose lips liar-Biden's support does not appear to be particularly deep, but that does not really matter if the vote Saturday aligns with the polls. He will win and survive at least for a few days until Super Tuesday. Still, it is striking how tenuous some of loose lips liar-Biden's support in South Carolina appears to be. Yes, some wholeheartedly believe he is a great choice for president. But many others are making calculations, trying to game out the Democratic race and find the magic formula to beat President Trump. They're guessing, hoping, that loose lips liar-Biden might be the one. "It's a strategic vote for me for loose lips liar-Joe because I do not want commie-Bernie to win South Carolina," said Mary DeVey, of Georgetown, after loose lips liar-Biden spoke in this historic coastal town a day after the ugly Democratic debate an hour down the road in Charleston. "I voted for him because I thought he was the best bet to win against Trump," added Janice Coward, of Pawleys Island, who had just cast an early ballot for loose lips liar-Biden. Other voters are conducting their own internal debates. "Policy-wise, from a personal point of view, I would love to see commie-Bernie Sanders be president," said Jeremy Killian, a professor at Coastal Carolina University, in Conway, where loose lips liar-Biden spoke Thursday night. However, if he’s trying to convince people of his good judgment, he didn’t help himself by taking on the Palmetto State’s former governor, Nikki Haley. Jamie Lovegrove, political reporter for The Post and Courier in Charleston, tweeted Wednesday that loose lips liar-Biden questioned Haley’s intelligence during an event in South Carolina while discussing the expansion of Medicaid. “In Georgetown, he appears to start saying she ‘didn’t have the brains’ before stopping himself and changing it to ‘foresight’ because he wants to ‘be polite,'” Lovegrove said. Haley, though, wasted no time in punching back. The former U.N. ambassador fired off a tweet that said, “Hold up Joe. I will put my brain up against yours anytime. Bring it. #GodBlessJoe” Many observers thought it was a knockout. loose lips liar-Biden has had a number of high-profile gaffes during the 2020 campaign, including a claim this week that 150 million Americans have been killed by guns since 2007. Tonight, we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country.” In response, liberals were hysterical, as if Donald “McCarthy” Trump had called for nothing less than a resurrection of the House Committee on Un-American Activities, a reboot of Dr. Fred Schwarz’s Christian Anti-Communism Crusade. I wrote about the hysteria at the time, giving examples from commie-Bernie Sanders to the New York Times. Remember commie-Bernie’s grim expression when Trump said that? The old Trotskyist looked like he was ready to leap from his seat and denounce the president as a capitalist reptile. The Times ran a wimpy piece, “Painting Socialists as Villains, Trump Refreshes a Blueprint.” “President Trump has proved himself adroit at creating villains to serve as his political foils,” whined the Times. “In his State of the Union address on Tuesday, he introduced a new one: socialists.” In the Washington Post, E. J. Dionne fired off a defiant retort, insisting that “Trump’s War on Socialism Will Fail.” “He wants to tar all Democrats as ‘socialists,’ ” Dionne insisted, “and then define socialism as antithetical to American values.” Of course, socialism is antithetical to American values. The cosmic blast likely originated in a supermassive black hole in the Ophiuchus galaxy cluster, some 390 million light years from earth. Galaxy clusters contain hundreds to thousands of galaxies, bound together by gravity, and are some of the largest known structures in the universe. The outburst of energy happened slowly, likely taking place over hundreds of millions of years, and is no longer exploding. It was five times bigger than the previous record holder. It was powerful enough to blast a massive hole in the super-heated gas surrounding the black hole, called the cluster plasma. The cavity in the cluster plasma is the size of 15 Milky Way galaxies, or 1.5 million light years across. “We’ve seen outbursts in the centers of galaxies before but this one is really, really massive,” Prof. Melanie Johnson-Hollitt, of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy in Australia, said in a statement Thursday. “We don’t know why it’s so big.” “People were skeptical because the size of outburst,” she said. “But it really is that. But on Friday, he announced plans -- again -- to nominate Ratcliffe. Appeals court temporarily blocks Trump administration's ‘Remain-in-Mexico’ policy

{ foxnews.com } ~ A federal appeals court on Friday slapped a temporary halt on the Remain-in-Mexico policy -- one of the most effective Trump administration policies in halting last year’s migrant crisis... dealing a significant blow to the administration's efforts to control the flow of migrants claiming asylum at the southern border. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco ruled in a 2-1 vote to put a hold on the policy -- formally known as the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP). In a separate ruling Friday, the same court also blocked an administration policy that prevents immigrants who crossed the border illegally from then claiming asylum in the U.S. The policy, which was established in January and expanded over the summer amid greater cooperation with Mexico, returns migrants to Mexico as they await their hearings, with courtrooms set up at key border points in places such as Laredo and Brownsville, Texas. Approximately 57,000 people have been returned to Mexico under the policy. The policy essentially ended the process known as “catch-and-release” by which migrants were released into the interior, sometimes for years, until their cases were processed. While critics said MPP was cruel and placed migrants in danger of violence by returning them to the country, it was identified as ending a key “pull factor” in why migrants were flooding the border -- namely that they would be allowed into the interior of the U.S. if they reached the border. Officials said the process meant that cases could be heard in as little as 40-60 days, as opposed to the years it sometimes takes after family units are released into the U.S. Those in favor of the program said that works better for the migrants, as it leaves them in limbo for less time, while also acting as a disincentive for Central American migrants who do not have legitimate asylum claims but might otherwise get into the U.S. by claiming “credible fear” of returning home. Since MPP was expanded, there has been a dramatic drop in migrants coming to the border from the high of April where 144,000 migrants reached the border. “As we continue to build our defense cooperation,” Trump continued, “the United States looks forward to providing India with some of the best and most feared military equipment on the planet.” The arms deal includes the U.S. selling India roughly $3 billion in military helicopters.

This week, the stock market, for one, jumped off a cliff... something it is wont to do when faced with global uncertainty. While nothing about this global health emergency is certain, we can predict with a high degree of confidence some outcomes—good and bad—that will emerge in the weeks ahead. Take the markets. Once they get jittery, they tend to stay jittery—until they don’t. The coronavirus is sure to break out in different parts of the world in the weeks ahead. This will lead to new restrictive measures that will disrupt trade, supply chains, and travel. New rumors will fly on the internet and elsewhere. Public concern will spike alongside them. And politicians will burst forth lots of suggestions about what to do—and what not to do—because, well, they always feel they have to “do something” whenever a big problem is afoot. What is also likely is that concerns may ebb as flu season comes to end. Respiratory diseases like the flu tend to wax and wane with the weather. This one will probably do the same. Of course, the coronavirus will probably be back next flu season. But that’s the next round. We’ll have to see how well the world is prepared for that. Who knows? Perhaps a vaccine will have been developed by then. It is understandable that the latest outbreaks in Italy and Iran have sent ripples of concern around the world. But some recent analysis helped solidify, for me, the need to look into precisely what scumbag/commie-John Brennan was doing in the period between his odd, secretive trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming 1-3 August 2015, and the spring of 2016, when the best-known events of Spygate began to crowd the calendar. The visit to Jackson Hole was the one during which scumbag/commie-Brennan had the opportunity to meet with scumbag/liar-Bill Clinton when they were both in town for a conference sponsored by a billionaire physician and drug developer. There is no direct proof that they met. But there was also no apparent reason for scumbagt/commie-Brennan to participate in the conference, at which he made one appearance on a panel with publisher Steve Forbes. We know from a December 2019 report that John Durham has asked for records of scumbag/commie-Brennan’s activities from the Spygate period, and we can hope that probe is fruitful. Meanwhile, this article will be a relatively brief treatment of three threads running through March 2016 that definitely invite another look at scumbag/commie-Brennan. There is considerably more detail at the links included below. Two of the threads I and others have already developed at length. One is the discovery at the FBI that civilian contractors had improperly had access to “U.S. person information” (USPI) unmasked from communications data being retrieved by FBI analysts, ostensibly for legitimate FBI operations. Will the spread of the disease be President Trump's Katrina or his financial crisis?... Will it be similar to the H1N1 avian flu pandemic in 2009 or will it be politicized like the Ebola outbreak in 2014? Comparisons are tough. After all, the situation is unprecedented. The political consequences of COVID-19 are difficult to predict because of the interplay between a public health emergency and a fractured public narrative. Coronavirus is the first postmodern pandemic. It has the makings of a phenomenon not seen in a century. The Spanish Flu of 1918 infected an estimated one-third of the global population. It had a case fatality rate greater than 2.5 percent—slightly higher than the rate for coronavirus observed in China so far. More than 600,000 people died in the United States of "La Grippe." No one wants to see these numbers repeated. Perhaps they won't be. The malpractice of the Chinese Communists may be responsible for the high fatality rate there. The rate outside its borders, according to the World Health Organization, is lower. And America inhabits a different public health universe than a century ago. Flu vaccines and therapeutics did not exist. Hospitals, the sciences of virology and epidemiology, and medical technology were primitive. Authorities relied on quarantines and appeals for good hygiene. Results were mixed. And disappointing. This is different from the Spanish Flu. Science, medicine, and public health have improved immeasurably. But that is not the only difference. COVID-19 is novel. No one saw it before last December. No one is sure where it came from. And it has spread quickly. Despite record advances in gene sequencing and drug testing, it will be more than a year before a vaccine can be mass produced. The global economy is far more integrated than in the past. And a worldwide broadcast, digital, and social media exist that would have been fanciful to President Wilson. This system distributes misinformation, incentivizes hysteria and partisanship, and expects immaculate performance from the government while ignoring, dismissing, and excusing its own failures. Dr. Will Happer and Genesis Torres of the CO2 Coalition presented cordial scientific summaries of climate realism... while Alex Bozmowski, director of strategy and operations for a self-professed “conservative” group calling itself “republicEN,” responded by viciously attacking the ethics and character of Happer and Torres. The “republicEN” vicious character-assassination tactics, while simultaneously advocating for what may easily be the most damaging tax increase in American history, tells us all we need to know about RepublicEN. As the saying goes, by their deeds you shall know them. Happer opened with a 10-minute presentation explaining how carbon dioxide is not a pollutant. Happer explained that high carbon dioxide levels do not impact human health. He added that higher carbon dioxide levels have been scientifically shown to increase crop yields and global vegetation. CO2’s asserted negative impacts result solely from asserted climate change, yet the evidence shows the balance of impacts from our modestly warming planet has been positive rather than negative. Torres, an aquatic ecologist, spoke next. In a very affable manner, she explained how the oceans are in no danger of becoming acidic. She noted that aquaculture produces maximum fish production at PH levels between 7.0 and 7.9. Current ocean PH levels are 8.2. Even if atmospheric carbon dioxide levels tripled, ocean PH levels would decline only to 7.8, which is in the ideal PH range. Neither Happer nor Torres criticized Bozmowski. Nate Jackson Yesterday, we noted the economic trouble brought about by the deadly coronavirus, and that upheaval continued Tuesday. MarketWatch reports, “The Dow finished Tuesday down nearly 880 points to mark its sharpest-ever two-session slide in point terms, losing about 1,910 points.” The Dow is down 8.4% in just two weeks.
That coincides not just with the coronavirus epidemic and economic interruptions in China but with the rise of Bolshevik commie-Bernie Sanders as the new Democrat front-runner. That’s not a coincidence, but it is another story.
As for the U.S. and the coronavirus, the Centers for Disease Control issued a “strong warning” about it spreading here — a matter, it said, not of “if” but “when.” Naturally, Democrats in last night’s debate used the CDC warning to slam President Donald Trump, or, in Joe Biden’s case, go off on a bizarre rant bragging about his own work on ebola.
With all that in mind, this episode has brought to the forefront another problem with China’s dominance in world markets: the manufacture of pharmaceuticals and supply chains for their ingredients.
According to his recent Senate testimony, Scott Gottlieb, a physician who is also a former Trump administration Food and Drug Administration commissioner, detailed some of our strategic reliance on China for pharmaceuticals: “About 40 percent of generic drugs sold in the U.S. have only a single manufacturer. A significant supply chain disruption could cause shortages for some of many of these products. [In 2019], manufacturing of intermediate or finished goods in China, as well as pharmaceutical source material, accounted for 95 percent of U.S. imports of ibuprofen, 91 percent of U.S. imports of hydrocortisone, 70 percent of U.S. imports of acetaminophen, 40 to 45 percent of U.S. imports of penicillin, and 40 percent of U.S. imports of heparin, according to the Commerce Department. In total, 80 percent of the U.S. supply of antibiotics are made in China.”

This isn’t the free market at work. It’s the result of Beijing’s typical and strategic market manipulation, including underselling global competitors to put them out of business and enable China’s market domination. The U.S. must be equally strategic in thinking through market issues that have national-security implications.
Growing American energy production has moved us toward independence in that sector, providing a buffer particularly for instability in the Middle East. Similarly, we must think through the production and distribution of medicines and medical supplies that are needed to protect our population. Israel Emerges as Issue in California Primary

Among them is a 2001 statement to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that Israel would be "an apartheid state" if it failed to achieve peace with the Palestinians. It also points to Issa's 2006 proposal for the United Nations to redraw Israel's borders, in which he argued that Israel was drawn with "artificial lines" in the first place. "We've drawn artificial lines before, not the least of which is the very creation of the state of Israel, so let's finish drawing that part of the map," Issa told the Washington Post. The new line of attack comes a week before the primary in California's 50th Congressional District, where Issa is attempting a return to the House after retiring his seat in the neighboring 49th District in 2018. The group behind the ad is American Unity PAC, a Republican group that supports pro-gay rights candidates and is supporting Carl DeMaio to be the party's candidate in November. The ad also takes issue with a July 2006 accusation by Issa that Israel was bombing Hezbollah targets in Lebanon "just so they can have a July Fourth fireworks event." Chinese Destroyer Lases U.S. Navy

The laser could not be seen by a human eye but was captured by sensors on the airplane, which is a variant of the Boeing 737 that has been upgraded with sensors and systems to support tracking surface and undersea targets. The incident, which PACFLT called “unsafe and unprofessional,” took place on Feb. 17 and was just announced by the Navy. Weapons-grade lasers could potentially cause serious harm to aircrew and mariners, as well as ship and aircraft systems, PACFLT noted in its statement. The destroyer involved appears to be Hohhot, a Type 052D or Luyang III-class destroyer in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy. This destroyer, pennant number 161, is among the newer Chinese destroyers and entered the fleet last year, according to news reports. Why Russia Wants Lebanon

Russian military and civilian experts openly insisted that now was the time to show Israel that the Kremlin dictated the rules in Syria. Fyodor Lukyanov, chairman of the Presidium of the Council for Foreign and Defense Policy stated: "If Israel were to defy Russia's dominant role, Russia would react and take a stand. This is unlikely to happen because Israel knows Russia defines the rules in Syria." The main Israeli objective in Syria was to prevent weapons transfers from Iran to Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Jerusalem used Lebanese air space to foil such transfers. In November 2018, Lebanese president Michel Aoun asked Moscow to protect Lebanon's air space. Russian media reports that the defense ministry was favorably considering the idea alarmed the Israelis. Earlier, in February 2018, Russian natural gas producer Novatek obtained permission from the Lebanese government to develop natural gas fields in territorial waters in the Mediterranean Sea disputed by Lebanon and Israel. This action signaled that Moscow unambiguously sided with Lebanon and claimed the right to protect its natural gas investments during a military crisis. Local residents counter that the migrants should be transferred to mainland Greece. On February 25, more than 500 locals prevented construction workers from accessing the site of a proposed new migrant camp at Karava Mantamadou on Lesbos. Riot police used tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the crowds. Similar clashes occurred on Chios, a large Greek island located less than 20 kilometers from Turkey, from where tens of thousands of migrants depart each year in hopes of eventually reaching mainland Europe. The new site on Lesbos will be a so-called closed camp that tightly controls access and will replace the current open-access camp at Moria. The closed camps will allow migrants to go out during the day but will require them to be locked in at night. The objective is to control their movements and prevent them from escaping to the mainland. More than 100,000 Indians packed the world’s largest cricket stadium to hear remarks by President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The president announced a $3 billion defense deal with India and added that the two nations are working toward a major trade deal. Referring to mutual defense interests, President Trump said:
Together, we will defend our sovereignty, security, and protect a free and open Indo-Pacific region for our children and for many, many generations to come… The United States and India are also firmly united in our ironclad resolve to defend our citizens from the threat of radical Islamic terrorism.
I know many readers are also concerned about religious-liberty issues in India, and the White House has made it clear that the president will address that issue in private meetings with Modi.
commie-Bernie’s Blowout
Vermont Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders didn’t just win the Nevada caucuses Saturday — it was a blowout. Sanders took 47% of the vote, while loose lips liar-Joe Biden finished a distant second at 20%, followed by socialist-Pete Buttigieg (14%), Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren (10%), Tom Steyer (5%), and Amy Klobuchar (4%). Michael Bloomberg wasn’t on the ballot.
The Democrat establishment is in total meltdown because Sanders is revealing the real agenda of the party’s left-wing base. Today’s Democrat Party is increasingly divided between those who favor open socialism and those who believe hidden socialism is easier to sell.
Most Americans aren’t on board with the socialist agenda, and Democrats are scrambling to stop commie-Sanders at all costs. Many party leaders had hoped that Michael Bloomberg could be “Plan B” if loose lips liar-Biden faltered, but that strategy has been called into question since last week’s disastrous debate performance.
Bloomberg will have an opportunity to redeem himself at tonight’s debate in Charleston, South Carolina. He will be under enormous pressure to prove he’s not a worse debater than loose lips liar-Joe Biden. But he’s not on South Carolina’s primary ballot.
Meanwhile, commie-Sanders has smashed loose lips liar-Biden’s Palmetto State firewall, and Super Tuesday continues to look like it will be a very good day for commie-Sanders.

Part of the reason many Democrats are worried about commie-Bernie Sanders as their party’s nominee is his long history of praising brutal left-wing regimes around the world.
Reflecting the liberal establishment’s anxiety, “60 Minutes” host Anderson Cooper confronted Sanders with some of his past praise for communist dictator Fidel Castro. commie-Sanders told Cooper:
We’re very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba, but, you know, it’s unfair to simply say everything is bad. You know, when Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing?
In response to commie-Sanders’s callous comment, Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted, “It really makes a difference when those you murder at the firing squad can read & write.”
If commie-Sanders wins the nomination, Democrats can kiss Florida goodbye. The state is full of immigrants who fled Castro’s communism and other socialist regimes throughout Latin America.
Bashing Israel Too
When commie-Bernie’s not busy praising communists, he’s bashing Israel. Bolstered by his Nevada victory, commie-Sanders announced that he will not speak to the annual AIPAC conference this year, alleging that AIPAC provides a platform for “bigotry.”
The attack on AIPAC may seem odd at first glance, as commie-Sanders is Jewish. But I think there is a simple explanation. commie-Sanders is anti-Israel. He has key people on his staff who despise Israel, and he has been endorsed by anti-Semites like lowlife-Linda Sarsour, worthless-Ilhan Omar, and worthless-Rashida Tlaib.
But commie-Sanders understands the base of the Democrat Party. Polling shows that while Americans are generally pro-Israel (Christians and Republicans especially so), the base of the Democrat Party — millennials and progressives — are increasingly anti-Israel.
Polling shows the Democrat Party is evenly divided between support for Israel and the Palestinians. All the other candidates in the primary are trying to be even-handed in their approach to the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, dividing up the half of the Democrat vote that still supports Israel.
And while they are splitting up the pro-Israel vote, Sanders has consolidated the half that hates Israel.
The Left Attacks Iconic USA Team
Do you remember the “Miracle on Ice”? I certainly do, and President Trump honored the members of that historic Olympic team at his Las Vegas rally Friday night.
It was a fitting tribute to the team and to the American spirit they represent as the rally occurred on the eve of the 40th anniversary of their historic win over the Soviet Union. Needless to say, the crowd loved it and erupted in chants of “USA! USA! USA!”
But the Internet nearly crashed as enraged leftists went ballistic. Of course, the team released a statement, which read:
To us, this is not about politics or choosing sides. This is about proudly representing the United States of America. Whether your beliefs are Democratic, Republican, Independent, etc. we support that and are proud to represent the USA. It is an honor and privilege!
And there’s the rub. The progressive left that increasingly calls the shots would never invite them! It would never occur to them that the U.S. victory over the USSR carried more significance than a simply hockey game. But more than that, the players’ presence would send too much of a mixed message to their radical base.

Virus Outbreak
The news on the coronavirus over the weekend was disturbingly bad. There are now outbreaks in Italy, Iran, Japan, and South Korea. In some cases, there is no obvious connection to China. In Italy, 20% of those infected are in intensive care.
There is a potential crisis within this crisis. We first mentioned it to you four weeks ago when we brought up the dependence of the United States on medical supplies from China.
In recent decades, China has decided that it was going to dominate the world’s pharmaceutical industry. It started selling ingredients essential to medicines on the world market below market costs to drive many suppliers out of business.
Big multinational drug companies started moving facilities to China so they could have ready access to cheaper ingredients. The last U.S. company manufacturing penicillin shut down in 2004.
The result is that approximately 80% of essential medications now rely on the Chinese supply line. It’s not just medicines. China is one of the main suppliers of surgical masks. Beijing banned the export of those masks. Doctors everywhere are now scrambling.
There were warnings. Investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson covered it extensively. Yet the political establishment before Trump convinced itself that we should be a global marketplace, and free marketeers insisted that everything should be made wherever it is cheapest.
But a great nation must be able to make certain things, even if it costs more, if it wants to be safe. I know the Trump administration is working 24/7 to find solutions. Whatever happens, just remember that it was the sleepwalking of the DC swamp for decades before Trump that got us into this mess. ~The Patriot Post

Israel's Iran confrontation is pointing
the way to the future of war

{ thehill.com } ~ Iran is shipping sophisticated surface-to-air missiles, drones and other missiles to its allies across the Middle East... A seized shipment, revealed by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on Feb. 19, included drone and cruise missile components reportedly linked to an attack on Saudi Arabia’s Abqaiq oil facility last September. To confront the threat, Israel rolled out a new multi-year plan to transform its armed forces’ ability to both fight a multi-front war and to confront Iran. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is trying to do something unique in history by preparing the army for a potential future war that does not look like any before. Often armies end up planning to face enemies of the past, with disastrous results. This was the case with tactics of the U.S. Civil War, or the French army’s static defenses in World War II. Recent conflicts have revealed how technology is transforming the battlefield. This is illustrated in the counter-insurgency campaigns of the kind the U.S. has faced in the Global War on Terror, and inter-state conflicts such as tensions between Iran and other countries in the Middle East. Israel dubs its new plan “Momentum,” and it says the concept is to combine all the elements of its armed forces, including land, sea, air, intelligence and cyber. Using one kind of force, such as just the air force or just infantry, is a relic of the past. That means putting more resources into units at the front, and more capabilities such as drones and even high-energy lasers to confront drone threats. It also means using more accurate precision-guided munitions. In a recent briefing by the IDF, the army characterized this as going into “uncharted territory and leading the way. There is focus throughout the world on what we are doing.” To imagine what the future battlefield might look like, it’s worth looking at a few Israeli technologies. One is called Fire Weaver, which will be integrated into the army in the next several years. It links all the soldiers in an area to a network, sort of like when you play a first-person-shooter video game and see all the other players. It also uses artificial intelligence to optimize which weapon system can be used against threats. For example, if one soldier with an M-16 can’t hit an enemy who is hiding in a building, the system can calculate that a drone or another team on the other side of the village could hit the enemy. The system is supposed to reduce friendly-fire, collateral damage to civilians and give commanders faster intelligence to make decisions. It is a bit like applying management information systems, or efficiency concepts one might find in business, to war....

On Tuesday, Breitbart News fact-checked “mostly false” claims by former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg during the Democrat debate in South Carolina. Bloomberg claimed that Trump had “fired” a pandemic specialist at the White House, and “defunded” the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The implication: Trump was to blame for the spread of coronavirus — even though there have been just over a dozen cases and no fatalities in the U.S. The truth: the pandemic specialist had left voluntarily during a reorganization of the bloated National Security Council (NSC), and the CDC cuts — as the agency wound down its Ebola response — were only proposed, not enacted. The AP confirmed Thursday, in an article titled “AP FACT CHECK: Democrats distort coronavirus readiness,” that much of what Democrats are saying about Trump’s response to the coronavirus challenge is simply not true: Democratic presidential contenders are describing the federal infectious-disease bureaucracy as rudderless and ill-prepared for the coronavirus threat because of budget cuts and ham-handed leadership by President Donald Trump. That’s a distorted picture. For starters, Trump hasn’t succeeded in cutting the budget. He’s proposed cuts but Congress ignored him and increased financing instead. The National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention aren’t suffering from budget cuts that never took effect. Some public health experts say a bigger concern than White House budgets is the steady erosion of a CDC grant program for state and local public health emergency preparedness — the front lines in detecting and battling new disease. Senate Dems Kill Newborn and Preborn Protections
Thomas Gallatin Senate Republicans failed on Tuesday to garner the 60 votes necessary to override a Democrat filibuster of two separate pieces of legislation, both of which sought to protect the most vulnerable among us — preborn and newborn children.
In a vote of 53 for and 44 against, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act failed to advance to debate. The bill would have made abortion illegal after 20 weeks of pregnancy, except in cases risking the mother’s life and for victims of rape and incest (roughly 1% of pregnancies). Bill sponsor Lindsey Graham (R-SC) pointedly noted, “There are only seven countries that allow wholesale abortions at the 20-week period, including China and North Korea. The United States should NOT be in that club.”
The second Senate bill torpedoed by Democrats was the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which would have required an abortion provider to engage in life-saving procedures to “preserve the life and health” of a child born alive after a failed abortive attempt. Ben Sasse (R-NE), a sponsor of the legislation, blasted Democrat resistance. “Nothing in this bill touches abortion access,” Sasse said, adding that it only protects “babies that have already been born.” After only three Democrats crossed the aisle to side with Republicans on the bill, Sasse disgustedly observed, “This body ought to be able to stand 100 to zero against that [infanticide] barbarism.” The three Democrats were Bob Casey (PA), Doug Jones (AL), and Joe Manchin (WV).
Hawaii Democrat Mazie Hirono voted against Sasse’s bill, arguing earlier this month that infanticide was already illegal and that the bill was “a solution to a problem that does not exist.” Yes, “infanticide is indeed illegal in the U.S.” Sasse agreed, “Yet in half of the states, there is no criminalization of walking away from the baby and allowing it to die by exposure. There’s an active-passive distinction and a state-federal distinction, which are both pretty fundamental.”
Predictably, CNN sought to defend Senate Democrats by ridiculously asserting that a “fetus that was born” was not the same as a “newborn baby,” because in the first instance the mother didn’t want the child. In other words, CNN ludicrously claims that a mother’s subjective personal desire rather than objective biological reality is what confers personhood onto a baby. With views this devoid of basic logic, is it any wonder the Left also rejects the biological reality of gender being binary?
On a final note, this all went down in the Senate as three Democrat senators hoping to be president were preparing to debate in South Carolina. None voted on the measures, but it was still exceedingly ironic for Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren to, after repeating her “fired while pregnant” tall tale, slam Michael Bloomberg for allegedly telling a pregnant female employee to “kill it.” Isn’t “kill it” essentially the Democrat platform?

The implosion, and imminent demise of Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential race is epic, but it has now gone beyond funny gaffes and nonsense to outright scary.
While he’s long been the butt of jokes for saying the wrong things at inappropriate times, and rightly so, Biden’s mental state now seems to be descending rapidly into what could be dementia, or some form of it.
For years, he’s had a great deal of trouble remembering where he is at any given time, and just a little more than a week ago, on the day of the New Hampshire primary at a final campaign stop, he actually thought he was in Nevada.
But just a couple of days ago, what I believe to be the true nature of whatever it is that Biden is suffering from became so glaringly clear that even his dwindling numbers of supporters were left wondering about their candidate’s mental state.

we will have coronavirus vaccine'

If all goes as planned, the vaccine could be ready within a few weeks and available in 90 days, according to a release. “Congratulations to MIGAL [The Galilee Research Institute] on this exciting breakthrough,” Akunis said. “I am confident there will be further rapid progress, enabling us to provide a needed response to the grave global COVID-19 threat,” Akunis said, referring to the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. For the past four years, a team of MIGAL scientists has been developing a vaccine against infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), which causes a bronchial disease affecting poultry. The effectiveness of the vaccine has been proven in preclinical trials carried out at the Veterinary Institute. MIGAL is located in the Galilee. “Our basic concept was to develop the technology and not specifically a vaccine for this kind or that kind of virus,” said Dr. Chen Katz, MIGAL’s biotechnology group leader. “The scientific framework for the vaccine is based on a new protein expression vector, which forms and secretes a chimeric soluble protein that delivers the viral antigen into mucosal tissues by self-activated endocytosis, causing the body to form antibodies against the virus. Endocytosis is a cellular process in which substances are brought into a cell by surrounding the material with cell membrane, forming a vesicle containing the ingested material. In preclinical trials, the team demonstrated that the oral vaccination induces high levels of specific anti-IBV antibodies, Katz said. “Let’s call it pure luck,” he said. “We decided to choose coronavirus as a model for our system just as a proof of concept for our technology.” But after scientists sequenced the DNA of the novel coronavirus causing the current worldwide outbreak, the MIGAL researchers examined it and found that the poultry coronavirus has high genetic similarity to the human one, and that it uses the same infection mechanism, which increases the likelihood of achieving an effective human vaccine in a very short period of time, Katz said. “All we need to do is adjust the system to the new sequence,” he said. “We are in the middle of this process, and hopefully in a few weeks we will have the vaccine in our hands. Devin Nunes of California, the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, said in a podcast that aired Tuesday that criminal referrals could be coming for some of those on Mueller’s team. Nunes and other House Republicans believe that some of the investigators may have misled Congress and the courts during the investigation. “We’re now going through these FBI interview memos, and we’re going to be making criminal referrals on the Mueller dossier team, the people that put this Mueller report together,” Nunes told Just The News on its John Solomon Reports podcast. According to Just the News, Nunes was reacting to a story published by the outlet that revealed that an FBI “302” memo had shown former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos had tried to help — not hinder — investigators’ attempts to locate a witness named Joseph Mifsud. Prosecutors had portrayed Papadopoulos as attempting to obstruct the investigation. Nunes said that the new memos from the FBI show “our first evidence of the Mueller team lying to the court. Its a lie. It’s a total lie.” “I always assumed that Papadopoulos probably was helpful. I mean, he’s kind of alluded to that, that he offered to be helpful, but we had never seen the actual 302s,” he said. The Russia investigation was a witch hunt from the day it began — an investigation in search of a crime. Democrats have been working hard to sell their Russia conspiracy theory from the day the president was elected. We have ample evidence that at least two members of Mueller’s team, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page, were terrified at the idea of Trump becoming president. There are text messages that show that they spoke about having an “insurance policy,” which many believe was the Russia collusion accusations....

Former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh, who held elected offices in Baltimore for two decades and was elevated by voters to lead the city following the upheaval of 2015, was sentenced to three years in federal prison Thursday for a fraud scheme involving a children’s book series. Pugh, 69, asked U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow for mercy and apologized in court “to anyone I have offended or hurt through my actions.” […] In handing down the prison sentence, which was to be followed by three years of probation, Chasanow called Pugh’s crime “astounding.”....
NJ City Approves Public Broadcast
of Muslim Call to Prayer — Should It?

The ordinance specifically allows for the Muslim call to prayer (the azan or adhan), church bells, and “other reasonable means of announcing religious meetings between the hours of 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. for duration not to exceed five minutes.” The ordinance will be subjected to two public hearings before becoming law. As a Muslim, I think the Muslim call to prayer can sound quite beautiful. I also live by a church and enjoy hearing the church bells everyday at noon. However, there are four key issues that stand out for me on a public Muslim call to prayer: As much as I’m comfortable with the Muslim call to prayer, do I want to hear this broadcast in public, five times a day, beginning at the crack of dawn and hearing a version that I have no control over? No. Do parents with young children, trying to keep them asleep for as long as possible, want to hear a crack-of-dawn broadcast? No. Does the increasing number of individuals who work remotely from their homes want to have their work day forcefully interrupted with amplified, scheduled intermissions echoing a call to prayer that can last a few minutes? No. In the age of trigger awareness and sensory issues, it’s tone deaf to not realize that some people will be triggered by the more aggressive call to prayer, while others dealing with sensory issues like discomfort from loud noises, will struggle to be in high stimulus environments with calls blasted over a loudspeaker. It’s ordinances like the Muslim call to prayer of Paterson New Jersey that sound very inclusive on the surface level, but there is a layer cake of issues we’re dealing with, not least of all is the motivation for the ordinance... Harold Hutchison: If conservatives and Republicans in the establishment wing — particularly those who are “Never Trumpers” — ever want to understand why nobody listens to them, it really comes down to a single word: Trust. Loyalty, like civility, is a two-way street. In order to have any sort of claim on it, you need to give it.
Leftists who falsely accuse grassroots Patriots of racism, sexism, Islamophobia, being okay with “kids eating crap,” or any host of other dreadful things have long ago forfeited any right to complain about return fire from the Right. For far too long, leftists used those cries to silence criticism. For far too long, so-called “leaders” of the Republican Party failed to defend themselves and the grassroots Patriots who backed them.
Let’s assume that you’re called a child-killing domestic terrorist by some Mike Bloomberg stooge because you oppose an onerous slate of anti-Second Amendment legislation, like that pushed by Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam. Who would you trust to call out that Bloomberg stooge’s lies? Would you count on Fox News commentator Tomi Lahren or would you trust CNN’s Trump-skeptic Amanda Carpenter?
We can’t speak for anyone else, but we’d trust Lahren to have our backs much more readily than Carpenter. Not that we don’t believe that Amanda is a conservative, but Tomi has shown the necessary fight.
In a similar vein, let’s assume that for opposing reparations, you are attacked with phony claims similar to those tossed at rino-John McCain in the 2008 campaign. Who comes to your mind as someone who will defend you (and others) against that defamation? PragerU’s Candace Owens or New York Daily News editorialist Robert A. George?
Once again, we mean no disrespect to Robert, but, in recent months and years, Candace has proven that she will have our backs. Robert is conservative, but he seems to embrace the political doctrine of Republican unilateral political disarmament.
Similarly, if there were claims from the likes of Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren that those opposing new campaign-finance laws on First Amendment grounds were actually pro-corruption, who do you think would be more likely to call out Warren? The Dispatch’s David French or Townhall’s Kurt Schlichter? Most would count on Schlichter to have our backs, despite the yeoman’s work French did exposing the abuses of the “John Doe” laws in Wisconsin in the pages of National Review, his former employer.
It’s not just defending Patriots working at the grassroots level, it’s also about being willing to defend themselves. Paul Ryan is a brilliant economic conservative. He was widely seen as a great hope when he was picked as rino-Mitt Romney’s running mate. He was arguably the politician with some of the best ideas on how to help Social Security and Medicare to keep functioning through the 21st century without bankrupting the country.
Many Patriots defended Ryan’s budgets and plans for entitlement reform, but Ryan seemed unable to defend those who defended him. Worse, when smeared as someone who would push grandma over a cliff, he couldn’t even muster the will to defend himself. At that point, many Patriots understandably questioned whether he was capable of sticking up for them.
The same thing happened when George W. Bush failed to defend himself against clearly phony charges of lying about the justification for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Many Patriots did step up, defending the operation and supporting the mission, but were then left hanging out to dry.
So, when more establishment conservatives are asking why Lahren, Owens, and Schlichter have such a following among Patriots, they need to look in the mirror. Just having a good policy agenda is no longer enough; those who seek to lead conservatives have to earn their trust.
Tomi, Candace, and Kurt have earned trust by fighting leftists. They have stuck up for Patriots at the grassroots. If establishment-types did the same, they might win back some of the trust that they lost over the years.

Yet at the same time, such is cryin’ scumbag-Chuck’s concern for human life that he and his Democrats sustained a filibuster blocking a bill that would protect the lives of newborn infants that survive a botched abortion. Senate Democrats today blocked a request by Republicans to vote on a bill that would stop infanticide and provide medical care and treatment for babies who are born alive after botched abortions. The vote to stop the Democrat filibuster needed 60 votes but Democrats stopped the chamber from getting enough. The Senate voted 56-41 to end the filibuster and allow a debate and vote on the bill itself with Republicans supporting a vote on the anti-infanticide bill and Democrats opposing it. This is the third time Senate Democrats have blocked the bill to stop infanticide as 60 votes are needed to end the filibuster. Democrats whine about children being separated from their families and allegedly kept in cages at the border, and they worry about them catching the coronavirus, but they believe in abortion from conception until birth and even after, beholden as they are to an intolerant left that says “reproductive care” includes leaving a newborn baby on a table until it dies, as Dem. Gov. swcumbag-Ralph Northam, states. In an interview with WTOP Radio on January 30, scumbag-Northam described his support for legalization of late-term abortion -- even as a mother is “dilating,” per state delegate Kathy Tran -- and took the concept further, discussing euthanizing newborn babies even after comforting and “resuscitating” them: When we talk about third-trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of, obviously, the mother, with the consent of the physicians -- more than one physician, by the way… The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mothers.” They would decide if the “comfortable” baby would be killed or not. Now Senate Democrats, including the self-righteous hypocrite Chuck scumbag-Schumer, have reaffirmed that babies that survive an attempt to kill them, babies that survive an abortion, be left to die on a table somewhere without any attempt to save them: During the debate, Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska noted how pro-abortion Democrats refused to stand up and explain why they would block a vote to save babies from infanticide. He said, “I urge my colleagues to picture a baby that’s already been born, that’s outside the womb gasping for air. That’s the only thing that today’s vote is actually about. We’re talking about babies that have already been born. Nothing in this bill touches abortion access.”....

When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program,” commie-Sanders told “60 Minutes” correspondent Anderson Cooper. Such comments demonstrate at the very least a lack of sympathy for the victims of the Castro regime. They are of a piece with something commie-Sanders told an audience at the University of Vermont in 1986: “I remember, for some reason, being very excited when Fidel Castro made the revolution in Cuba. I was a kid and I remember reading that, and it just seemed right and appropriate that poor people were rising up against rather ugly rich people.” All of this gets it backward. Marxists and Marxist sympathizers have always insisted that the ends justify the means, which may account for the contempt for Castro’s victims. But the results of Castro’s Cuba do not justify the savaging of a culture. Let’s first take the comments about the “ugly rich people.” At first blush, one would think he is talking about people like my parents, who were fresh off the University of Havana’s Law School when the revolution triumphed, and who suffered greatly later in the 1960s. But actually, both my parents were elated when the dictator Fulgencio Batista fled on New Year’s Eve, 1958. Like most of their lawyer friends, they enthusiastically backed Castro and his movement. One of the reasons was that they knew Castro from law school. Though they did not approve of his gangsterish ways, he promised elections and said he was not a communist he lied. Democrats have thwarted efforts to fund the building of a border wall. Even when they have given an inch, it has been cloaked in a veil of regulatory burdens that effectively prevent completion of the wall. When President Donald Trump has found money and eased regulatory hurdles to building the border wall, the left has searched for and identified conspiratorially complicit judges to issue orders forbidding building. Those orders have universally been overturned on appeal. Thus, the administration’s efforts continue, only after delays caused by the Democrats and the institutional left. Perspective on Coronavirus
Nate Jackson: As you may have heard, there is global panic about bird flu swine flu ebola coronavirus (COVID-19). We don’t say that to minimize the danger or the very real death toll. In fact, Mark Alexander recently wrote (and has since added updates) about exactly how seriously we should take this outbreak and what people should be prepared to do about it. We do say it to put things in perspective amidst the epidemic of media panic.
To date, there have been more than 2,700 deaths from coronavirus, though 94% of them have been in China’s Hubei province, where the outbreak began. More than 80,000 cases have been confirmed in more than 30 countries, and there have been dozens of deaths (total) in Iran, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Italy, and France. The virus is spreading and serious; it has a long incubation period and may be mutating, but, so far, the mortality rate remains at about 3%. The World Health Organization has not yet declared coronavirus a pandemic.
The economic impact is huge. China alone accounts for roughly a third of global trade, so with many of its factories shut down and a big decline in container traffic, the rest of the world is feeling the pain. The Wall Street Journal warns, “Some economists are predicting that the epidemic could cause China’s GDP to shrink up to 10% year-over-year in the first quarter.” That’s astounding, and if that happens it will impact the United States greatly.
The Journal’s Walter Russell Mead wrote earlier this month, “Given the accumulated costs of decades of state-driven lending, massive malfeasance by local officials in cahoots with local banks, a towering property bubble, and vast industrial overcapacity, China is as ripe as a country can be for a massive economic correction. Even a small initial shock could lead to a massive bonfire of the vanities as all the false values, inflated expectations and misallocated assets implode.” (Chinese officials ejected three Journal reporters after that article because they argued its headline, “China Is the Real Sick Man of Asia,” is racist.)
One major effect of coronavirus for millions of Americans already is the stock market, which dropped 1,000 points (3.5%) Monday on coronavirus fears. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 2% for the year.
“The second-largest economy in the world [China] is completely shut down. People aren’t totally pricing that in,” said Larry Benedict, CEO of The Opportunistic Trader, who forecasts a 10% to 15% correction in stocks. “It seems like there’s much more to come.”
The Trump administration has requested Congress authorize $2.5 billion in emergency funding to fight any outbreak here, and it has already taken actions to monitor travel and protect American citizens. House Speaker liar-Nancy Pelosi responded that President Donald Trump’s request is “long overdue and completely inadequate.” Senate Minority Leader Chuck scumbag-Schumer complained that Trump is “asleep at the wheel.”
Evidently, Trump Derangement Syndrome is also still a threat.

and Palestinians Want?

{ gatestoneinstitute.org } ~ The Palestinians are doing their absolute utmost to ensure that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud Party do not win in Israel's general election on Monday, March 2... The Palestinian Authority (PA) in the West Bank, and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, seem to have endorsed the banner of Netanyahu's political rivals in Israel: "Anyone but Bibi Netanyahu's nickname." The two Palestinian groups perceive Netanyahu as a major threat to their dream of destroying Israel and as someone who has further strengthened Israel's standing in the international arena. In a last-minute, apparently desperate attempt to undermine the current Israeli prime minister's chances of winning another election, the PA has launched a public relations campaign to explain to the Israeli public why they should not vote for Netanyahu. The campaign, orchestrated personally by PA President Mahmoud Abbas, aims to scare Israeli voters by warning them that casting their ballots for Netanyahu would mean the end of the Middle East "peace process" -- a euphemism for Palestinians retaking territory "from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea " -- or, in other words, all of Israel, as set forth in the 1974 Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Phased Plan, which advocates accepting any land one can and then using that as a base from which to acquire the rest. Abbas's latest attempt to scare the Israeli public began earlier this month, when he dispatched 20 Palestinian officials to a meeting with Israeli "peace activists" in Tel Aviv. Organized by a left-wing anti-Netanyahu group called the Israeli Peace Parliament, the meeting was held under the banner: "Two States for Two People" and "No to Annexation." The "annexation" refers to Netanyahu's plan to apply Israeli law to some parts of the West Bank, particularly the Jordan Valley and several Jewish communities. Abbas sent his officials to Tel Aviv for the meeting not to promote peace with Israel, but evidently to convince Israelis not to vote for Netanyahu. That is what one concludes by listening to the statements of the Palestinians who attended the "peace" gathering. These officials included former Palestinian cabinet ministers and parliament members, as well as senior officials of Abbas's ruling Fatah faction. Although the meeting in Tel Aviv was also held under the banner, "Yes to Peace," the Palestinian and Israeli speakers devoted most of their speeches to condemning US President Donald Trump's recently unveiled plan for Middle East peace... Senate Judiciary Calendar Empty as FISA Reauthorization Deadline Approaches

{ theconservativetreehouse.com } ~ Previously Chairman Lindsey Graham promised to hold public hearings on reforms needed to the FISA process prior to any reauthorization vote. However, with two weeks remaining until current FISA authorization expires... the Senate Judiciary Committee has yet to hold a single hearing, and the senate calendar is empty. In November of 2019 buried deep in the congressional budget Continuing Resolution (CR) was a short-term extension to reauthorize the FISA “business records provision”, the “roving wiretap” provision, the “lone wolf” provision, and the more controversial bulk metadata provisions [Call Detail Records (CDR)], all parts of the Patriot Act. As a result of the FISA CR inclusion the terminal deadline was pushed to March 15, 2020. The Senate is scheduled to go back into recess on March 13th. Additionally, the DOJ/FBI response to the FISA court order due February 5th has still not been made public. At a minimum the DOJ/FBI response to the FISA court needs to be made public prior to any reauthorization by congress; and to better understand the scale of the issue, an explanation of the the DOJ/FBI sequestered evidence needs to be made public. Representatives requesting FISA reform prior to renewal include: Mark Meadows, Jim Jordan, Doug Collins, Jody Rice, Devin Nunes and Steve Scalise. Additionally, Senator Mike Lee and Senator Rand Paul are trying to force reform or let the current version expire. However, Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell, along with AG Bill Barr, want a clean FISA renewal without public hearings….

"He has got a certain talent for this," Trump said of Pence during a press briefing Wednesday. "I'm bringing together all the members of the coronavirus tasks force that you have established ... My role will be to bring that team together," Pence told the president. Trump reportedly had been considering bringing in someone from outside the administration to serve as a "coronavirus czar." He clarified at Wednesday's press conference that the vice president "isn't a czar" but that officials would be reporting to him. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar had said earlier in the day that he didn't expect any leadership changes. Appearing alongside Trump at the event, Azar said that he remained the head of the administration's coronavirus task force and that he “couldn’t be more delighted” that the president selected Pence to lead the overall government response. Azar and Pence have known each other for a long time. Trump announced the decision to appoint Pence shortly after he returned from a state visit to India and following a slew of criticism from Democrats, and even some Republicans, who said that an outside official should be tapped to coordinate the different work underway. Lawmakers cited as an example the scumbag/liar-nObama administration's response to Ebola, when the president appointed Ronald Klain, a Democratic strategist, to the role of "Ebola czar." House Democrats spent much of Wednesday tearing into Azar during two back-to-back committee hearings, saying officials weren't adequately prepared to fight the virus and that the administration should be asking for more than the $2.5 billion the White House requested to fight the virus. "True that a majority of Afghan vets want to end the war," Parsi wrote. "But is that true for the leaders of the military? And if so, why 18 years of deception about how the war was going?" Sarah Leah Whitson, the institute's managing director for research and policy, derided Petraeus for delivering "stale outdated talking points" on the war in Iraq, where the general commanded U.S. armed forces, and killing 500,000 people. Whitson on Tuesday night argued that former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein deserved credit for advances in education and literacy during his rein. Another Quincy Institute employee, Eli Clifton, used Petraeus's appearance at the forum as occasion to call out the funding of the Harvard University institution that formerly employed him. "Perhaps a good time to remember that David Petraeus’s work at Harvard’s Belfer Center is underwritten by Thomas Kaplan, who promotes his mining investments as retaining or appreciating in value if there is unrest in the Middle East," Clifton wrote. The number of pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia who attend the event can reach 2 million or more. “Saudi Arabia renews its support for all international measures to limit the spread of this virus, and urges its citizens to exercise caution before traveling to countries experiencing coronavirus outbreaks,” the Saudi Foreign Ministry said in a statement. “We ask God Almighty to spare all humanity from all harm.” As of Thursday there were no confirmed cases of coronavirus within Saudi Arabia but the virus was present in other parts of the Middle East. The Truth Behind Rising Sea Levels
and Global Warming

Vijay JayarajOn January 3, 2020, 13 states in the U.S. joined Rhode Island in a lawsuit against oil companies for contributing to climate change and the dangers it poses.
The reason: They believe sea-level rise from climate change threatens their low-lying coastal regions.
An alarmist news site in Honolulu claims, “Warmer air temperatures are causing our oceans to thermally expand and glaciers around the world to melt. This combination leads to global sea level rise.”
However, the real-world situation differs dramatically from these hyped-up, sensationalist claims.
Manmade Global Warming: Not the Primary Driver of Sea-Level Rise
Doomsday proponents suggest that glacial melt induced by global warming can contribute significantly to the rise in sea levels. But a growing number of scientific studies (like this one in 2018) find that manmade global warming is not a primary driver of global sea-level rise.
The reason? Contrary to the media narrative, more factors than glacial melt drive sea-level rise.
Three major sets of natural factors control the rise and fall of sea levels: water temperature and salinity changes (steric), cryosphere/glacial changes (glacio-eustatic), and geological changes in continents and ocean basins (isostatic).
Despite multiple influences on sea levels, some alarmist narratives focus exclusively on glacial melt. Why? To make people panic about melting glaciers in the Arctic and Antarctic.
Moreover, sea-level doomsday reports seldom address sea-level rise in previous centuries and millennia. Avoiding that supports the alarmist narrative, as it portrays the current rise as new and unprecedented.
Sea-Level Rise: Higher and Faster in the Past
A 2014 scientific study did a comprehensive analysis of sea-level measurements from 1,277 tide gauge records since 1807 to estimate trends and acceleration in sea-level rise. In the 20th century, global sea-level rise displayed a linear trend of 1.9 ± 0.3 millimeters (mm) per year.
Sea levels have been much higher in the past and varies regionally.
Whoever has been feeding you false information on unprecedented sea-level rise needs to be redirected to research that documents not only higher sea levels in the past but also more rapid sea-level rise.
Long-term historical analysis of sea-level rise (from around 14,000 BC to the present) in Europe, Australia, Russia, Canada, Eurasia, China, India, Thailand, the Caribbean Islands, Bolivia, and various other places indicates that sea levels were much higher in the past than today.
During the early Holocene (11,719 to 7069 calibrated years before 2019) the sea level rose by 55 to 60 meters and the rate of sea-level rise was 11 to 12 mm/year. In Tahiti, the largest French Polynesian Island in the South Pacific, the sea-level rise was “11.7 mm/year for the period 8950-11,650 before 1950.”
Besides, scientific publications published in the 1980s, before the advent of the global-warming craze, reveal that “many parts of the world provide evidence of higher than present strand lines dating from the late Holocene.”
Is Future Sea-Level Rise a Threat to Islands?
In contrast to the early Holocene period, the global sea-level rise since 1958 has been just around 1.3 to 1.5 mm per year, much lower than the 20th-century average.
We cannot blindly assume that islands will get submerged by future sea-level rise of around 2 mm per year or 0.2 meters (m) per century.
Because even if sea levels around islands or along coastlines go up, the coastal regions may still remain unsubmerged, and might even grow in some cases, due to accretion, i.e., geological changes that increase elevation and extension of landmass by accumulation of sediments, growth of coral, or uplift of the landmass itself.
In order to evaluate the same, scientists conducted studies to analyze the impact of sea-level rise on the Pacific islands — like Tuvalu, Tokelau, and Kiribati — which are often projected by climate alarmists as the first victims of rising sea levels.
The study found out that even with a 0.5 meter and 1 meter rise in the sea level (much higher than the 0.2 meters observed during the entire 20th century), the islands remained unaffected.
The scientists attribute this adaptability to “physical changes in island structure, including both vertical adjustments that influenced island topography and planform movement.” The study concluded that the “islands have the capability to morphodynamically respond to rising sea level through island accretion.”
The impact of relative sea-level rise on any coast can only be discerned after considering the vertical crustal motion, and the accretion of sediments, in the coastal region. The assertions of these scientific studies can also be observed in some islands.
For example, in the Grande Glorieuse Islands, the landmass grew by 7.5 ha (1989–2003) despite an absolute sea-level rise around the island and a 28% erosion of shoreline.
So, it is evident from scientific literature that sea levels have not risen dramatically in the recent past; they have been much higher in the past; and the ongoing rise (and potentially faster ones) poses no problem to the islands and other landmass.
Sadly, the mainstream media and climate activists pay no attention to these peer-reviewed and universally accepted scientific facts about sea levels. ~The Patriot Post

The Trump administration is legally allowed to withhold millions of dollars in federal law enforcement grants from states and other localities that refuse to work with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan ruled Wednesday. The court’s 77-page ruling was provided to the Daily Caller News Foundation. The ruling overturns a lower court’s decision that ordered the Trump administration to release the funds to New York City and other states that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Wednesday’s court ruling dates back to a dispute that began in 2017, after the Justice Department moved to withhold law enforcement grants from sanctuary cities and states that don’t allow ICE officials access to their jails or notify them when an illegal alien is set to be released from their custody. In response to this action, New York City and seven states — Connecticut, New York, Washington, New Jersey, Virginia, Massachusetts and Rhode Island — issued a lawsuit. The Trump administration celebrated Wednesday’s court’s ruling. “Today’s decision rightfully recognizes the lawful authority of the Attorney General to ensure that Department of Justice grant recipients are not at the same time thwarting federal law enforcement priorities,” a DOJ spokesman said in a statement provided to the DCNF. “The grant conditions here require states and cities that receive DOJ grants to share information about criminals in custody.”....

Morales did not identify any of the victims, pending family notifications. "It's a terrible day for Milwaukeeans," Morales said. Mayor Tom Barrett called the shooting a "tragic day for our city, a tragic day for our state." "Six families actually are grieving and will be grieving because of the horrific act of this individual," he said. "Because there were individuals who went to work today just like everybody goes to work, and they thought they were going to go to work, finish their day and return to their families. They didn't and tragically they never will." Molson Coors CEO Gavin Hattersley was at a company conference in Houston when he was made aware of the shooting. He was en route to Milwaukee, authorities said. In a statement, he said: "There are no words to express the deep sadness many of us are feeling right now.""The most important thing is that we support and care for each other," he said. Milwaukee police responded to a "critical incident" at the campus after reports of a shooting just before 2:10 p.m., authorities said. The incident was treated as an active shooter situation. The section, which will be within the DOJ’s Office of Immigration Litigation, will be dedicated to denaturalizing those who had failed to disclose they had been involved in criminal activity on their N-400 form for naturalization. It requires the government to show that citizenship was obtained illegally or "procured by concealment of a material fact or by willful misrepresentation." That form includes questions asking whether an applicant has been involved in genocide and torture among other serious crimes, if they have ever been part of a terrorist or totalitarian organization, if they had been associated with the Nazi government in Germany, and if they have been charged or convicted with a crime or served prison time. Matthew Richardson was allegedly seen by a police officer putting a piece of fabric inside the gas tank of his SUV and attempting to light it on fire with a cigarette lighter. When a Pentagon police officer confronted him, Richardson allegedly told him that he was going to “blow this vehicle” and himself up. The suspect then fled. Law enforcement agencies conducted an extensive search for Richardson before he was arrested at Arlington National Cemetery, where surveillance footage showed him jumping over a fence. Arlington police officers arrived at the Arlington National Cemetery at 11 AM to search for the suspect. Later, Pentagon police, Fort Myer police, and US Park Police joined in the search, according to reports. According to a Justice Department press release, “officers allegedly discovered a cigarette lighter, gloves, and court documents related to Richardson’s arrest on or about February 22 for two counts of felony assault on a law enforcement officer in Arlington County.” “Richardson was arrested yesterday and is charged with maliciously attempting to damage and destroy by means of fire, a vehicle used in and affecting interstate and foreign commerce,” the press release said. “If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.”.

The latest example is from Loch Raven High School in Maryland.
A teacher in an Advanced Placement History class displayed a picture of President Trump above a swastika and the Communist hammer and sickle.
The Fox television affiliate in Baltimore reports that above the picture of the president are the words “Wants to round up a group of people and build a giant wall.” The words “been there” and “done that” appear under the pictures of the swastika and hammer and sickle. A banner on the side reads, “Oh that’s why it sounds so familiar!”
“Educational malfeasance of the highest degree,” state lawmaker Kathy Szeliga wrote on social media.
Parents were rightfully disgusted and outraged that their teenage children had been subjected to leftist propaganda.
“The biggest problem is pushing an agenda on 16-year-olds,” one parent told Fox45. “My understanding is that was just put up and it was left there for everyone to see the whole day.”
Baltimore County Councilman Wade Kach wants to know where the curriculum came from.
“To even imply that our president is in any way a Nazi or a communist is outrageous,” the councilman told the television station. “I just think that it’s irresponsible to post anything like this in a classroom.”
The school district, in a statement released to local media, defended the presentation:
The topics being discussed included World Wars and the attempts by some leaders to limit, or prevent migration, into certain countries. In isolation and out of context with the lesson, the image could be misunderstood. In our Advanced Placement (AP) classes, which are college level courses, we expect and encourage analysis and discussion around historical and current events even if they are considered controversial. This lesson was not intended to make a political statement. If a student has concerns when discussing a controversial issue, schools have the tools to address the concern and support the student.
The school district’s statement is a load of fertilizer, folks. There’s no misunderstanding the teacher’s intent. And there’s no mistaking the teacher’s political statement.
This government-funded propagandist needs to be disciplined, but, more importantly, the brainwashed students need to be deprogrammed.

An acquaintance who works for a big German conglomerate said their supply chain is “a disaster.” Oil is off. European airlines are down 10 to 15 percent as countries close borders to Italy. Iran is overcome, and by all accounts they’ve only recently discovered that the virus is in their backyard. Nine people are dead. If one extrapolates out from other numbers, for every one dead, there are potentially hundreds infected. COVID-19 is in the United States, too, and not just from the quarantined cruise folks. By the CDC rules, only people who have traveled to China or have been in contact with someone who has been there can be tested. The tests the CDC sent out were faulty. The reason the United States has low reported rates of infection is that no one can be tested because only three labs are certified to do the tests. A couple facts that should cause skeptics to sober up: The virus can be spread by someone who is asymptomatic. That means screening for fever is not catching all sick people. (Think chickenpox.) - The virus can survive on surfaces for up to nine days. For contrast, the flu survives two days maximum. - The virus can be spread for weeks after the patient has recovered. - The patient can be reinfected after recovery. - Twenty percent of those who develop symptoms require hospitalization. - Average infection length is three weeks. For those who get sicker, recovery can take six to eight weeks. - Flu has a 0.1 to 0.2 percent mortality rate. This virus: 2-plus percent. 14.8 percent for those over 80 years old, and 8 percent if over 70. While some states have adopted various school choice initiatives in small doses, most have not... This may change after President Donald Trump publicly brought up school choice in his recent State of the Union address, and Republican lawmakers have introduced a series of bills that would increase federal funding for vouchers. If school choice were adopted nationwide on the proposed scale, public education would change significantly, mostly for the better. Using a government-issued voucher, parents would finally have greater freedom in choosing whether to send their children to public school, private school, or a charter school. So many public schools that currently enjoy a monopoly would no longer benefit from automatic funding that comes regardless of their performance; they would have to compete with other schools for students. With public schools no longer the only option for parents who can’t afford anything else, these schools would need to maximize their performance, efficiency, and attractiveness. Above all, however, schools would need to ensure their teachers use high-quality curriculum. Currently, it can be difficult for parents to know what is in the curriculum of a typical public school. After all, there is little reason to be transparent when funding is assured. As Matt Beienburg writes in National Review, this situation has led to schools adopting questionable content that seems to promote an ideological agenda over serious learning. In particular, he mentions the nationwide adoption of the New York Times’ “1619 Project” for history class, along with Seattle’s math ethnic studies framework. Although these represent the more extreme curriculum offerings, most public schools in both red and blue states routinely use left-leaning or “woke” materials while quietly doing away with older materials that encourage American patriotism, Western civilization, and Judeo-Christian values. Trump has said he has four to five candidates he is considering for the cabinet-level post, which has been headed by two acting directors since Dan Coats stepped down last August. Former Director of the National Counterterrorism Center Joseph Maguire served as acting DNI until he resigned earlier this month. Richard Grenell, the U.S. ambassador to Germany, was appointed last week by Trump to serve as acting DNI. Grenell is an outspoken Trump loyalist with a large conservative following on Twitter and also the first openly gay person to serve in a cabinet-level position. The news of Trump considering Hoekstra and Ratcliffe added two more names to a growing list of candidates to fill the position. Late last week it was reported that Trump was considering Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., for the permanent director of National Intelligence job, but Collins told Fox Business Network's Maria Bartiromo on Friday morning that while he's humbled by the possible offer, he is focused on running for Senate and would not accept the job. "This is not a job that interests me, at this time it's not one that I would accept because I'm running a Senate race down here in Georgia," Collins said. Ratcliffe was Trump’s nominee to be DNI last summer, but withdrew from consideration. The top Democrat on Senate Intelligence, Mark Warner of Virginia, has been among those openly critical of Ratcliffe being nominated to serve as DNI. If nominated by Trump, Ratcliffe will likely face a fierce confirmation battle as Democrats argue the former mayor of the small town of Heath had been selected due to his loyalty rather than experience. There's No Rule Democrats Won't Change
for Their Own Convenience

{ americanthinker.com } ~ I experienced deja vu watching the Democrats’ rule change to include Michael Bloomberg into their debates, despite their refusal to change those rules for other Democrats... who hadn’t met the qualifications for inclusion. For nearly twenty years I’ve watched Democrats change the rules to suit their convenience of the moment. For example, those who are old enough will remember the case of Robert Torricelli, the Democrat senator from New Jersey who withdrew from his Senate race because questions about his campaign finance practices were causing him to lose popularity and threaten that his Republican opponent might actually defeat him. However, his withdrawal left the Democrats without a candidate in that race, which in turn endangered their bare 1 seat majority in the Senate. To further complicate matters for the Democrats, the legal deadline to put forward a new candidate had passed. Never fear. The Democrats went to the friendly New Jersey Supreme Court and got a decision that allowed them to call the venerable Frank Lautenberg out of retirement and run in Torricelli’s stead. And, of course, the seat was saved. For the second example we move to the Senate. Many readers will also remember the contretemps over George W. Bush’s nomination of Miquel Estrada to the Washington DC district court in 2001. By all accounts, Estrada was supremely qualified to sit on that bench, but he spelled trouble for the Democrats. For one, he was conservative; for two, he was Latino; and for three, he may have been a White House choice for a future Supreme Court nomination. Thus, at the behest of liberal activists, Democrats, newly in the minority in 2002, would not let Estrada’s nomination come to a vote in the full Senate a vote they would have lost. For the first time in history a nominee to a sub-Supreme Court position had been effectively filibustered. Estrada was filibustered seven times until he finally gave up and went into private practice. The Democrats had again changed the rules. And this rule change continued to advantage them in future fights over Bush’s judicial nominees. In 2005, they used it to block a number of excellent Bush nominees, including Bill Pryor, Priscilla Owen, and Janice Rogers Brown among others. Since, before the Estrada case just mentioned, filibusters had never been used to block lower court judicial nominees, Senate Republicans moved to change Senate rules to forbid the use of filibuster to block lower court nominees....

Gary BauerThursday night, all the evening news broadcasts led with the same story — Russia is meddling in the 2020 elections to reelect Donald Trump. Here we go again.
Evidently, the House Intelligence Committee, led by Rep. swcumbag/liar-Adam Schiff, got a classified briefing about Russian interference in the 2020 election. Sure enough, someone leaked details of the briefing to The New York Times. Any guesses as to who leaked?
Curiously, the briefing took place last week, but we didn’t hear about it until Thursday when polls showed Trump’s ratings were up. What an odd coincidence.
Predictably, Democrats are claiming that this news justifies their impeachment efforts. As you no doubt recall, liar-Pelosi and scumbag/liar-Schiff repeatedly said, “We can’t wait until the election. He’s already working with Russia to steal 2020.” This is nonsense.
Let’s go back to the 2016 election. It was not stolen. Period. President scumbag/liar-nObama assured us that the elections could not be rigged, and we were later told that no votes were altered.
Russia spent $1.25 million a month on social media. In contrast, the Trump and scumbag/liar-Clinton campaigns spent over a $1 billion. But we’re supposed to believe that Russia’s “drop in the bucket” made all the difference.
And what magical thing did Russia do with that money? It ran memes like this one: “scumbag/liar-Hillary is a Satan, and her crimes and lies had proved just how evil she is.”
If scumbag/liar-Hillary’s 30+ years in public life hadn’t already convinced anyone that she was bad news, surely no internet ad would. To believe the minuscule Russian ads cost scumbag/liar-Hillary the election is delusional.
Here’s more proof that Russia wasn’t helping Trump: After the election, Russia sponsored anti-Trump demonstrations all over the country with the theme “Not My President.” Michael Moore and thousands of other leftists poured into a New York rally that was “sponsored” by Vladimir Putin. They were what the Soviets used to call “useful idiots.”
Unfortunately, the real Russian interference is working. Russia is trying to sow chaos and discord. It is trying to create a pre-Civil War atmosphere in America by making half the country doubt our elections and the legitimacy of our president.
Sadly, the left and its media allies are playing right into Putin’s hands.
Look at His Policies
The idea that Russia prefers America First Trump over Comrade Sanders, who honeymooned in the Soviet Union, is laughable. Just compare the president’s policies to those any Democrat president would follow.
Trump has massively increased defense spending. Every Democrat candidate wants to cut it.
Trump’s major theme is that America was great, is great, and he wants to make it even greater.
The Democrat Party base believes America was evil, is evil, and has done nothing but oppress people all over the world.
Trump has successfully pressured NATO allies to boost their defense spending. Putin definitely does not want that.
Iran is a major Russian ally. Trump got us out of scumbag/liar-nObama’s nuclear deal with Iran. Trump’s sanctions are crushing Iran’s economy, and he took out Qassem Soleimani, who regularly went to Russia to meet with Putin.
Trump’s policies have made us the leading energy producer in the world, devastating Russia’s budget. Every Democrat wants to ban fracking and gut the American energy industry.
Trump gave Ukraine lethal weapons that Barack Obama never would.
No One Is Infallible
God bless the men and women who work in our intelligence agencies. They have protected us from many horrors over the decades. They have also been horribly wrong on many occasions.
As we have also seen, the previous administration appears to have weaponized parts of the intelligence community against the president and those who voted for him.
CIA Director George Tenet, a scumbag/liar-Clinton holdover, told President George W. Bush that the intelligence regarding weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was a “slam dunk.” We never found them.
Before that, the intelligence community largely missed the attack on 9/11. With all our best capabilities, we did not see the worst attack on our soil since Pearl Harbor coming our way.
The CIA consistently underestimated the Iranian nuclear program. If it wasn’t for Israeli intelligence, President Trump would not know the true extent of Iran’s cheating.
Just a few months ago, China celebrated the 70th anniversary of the communist takeover of the country. It had a huge military parade in Beijing. U.S. military experts were stunned by what they saw. One official said in response, “We’re no longer in a period of overwhelming American dominance.” How did our intelligence agencies miss that?
My point is simply this: Our intelligences agencies are vital, but they are not infallible.
I believe there are ideologues in those agencies who are being intentionally obtuse in their interpretations of the intelligence. Russia doesn’t care who is elected. Putin is simply trying to damage America with the false narrative that he is deciding our elections.
By the way, there’s not enough space here to remind you of how often over the decades Russia and other nations have managed to infiltrate our intelligence agencies, including at the highest levels.
The Left Is Helping Russia
If you were so filled with anti-American vitriol and wanted to undermine confidence in our constitutional republic, what would you do? Well, you would plant seeds of doubt about America’s basic goodness and institutions.
You would start a narrative that America was founded in 1619, when the first slaves arrived, and not 1776. You would say that America was evil from the start because of slavery.
You would tell the country that the Electoral College was created to suppress minority voters so that America could be ruled by white, rural counties.
You would spread the outrageous lie that our Constitution thought blacks were only partial human beings.
You would tell the country that the Supreme Court, which for decades has done the left’s bidding, is now an illegitimate organization controlled by the radical right, corporate interests, and two justices who harassed women.
You would get multiple states to refuse to cooperate with federal law enforcement agencies trying to remove criminal illegal aliens.
You would constantly berate law enforcement and praise extremists like Colin Kaepernick.
You would tell America’s youth that free-market capitalism is inherently corrupt and Jesus was really a socialist.
In short, if you wanted to undermine the America experiment, you would do what the left is doing every day.
Speaking of 1619…
As we’ve told you, The New York Times has a special project that is being accepted into schools all over the country. It teaches that America was founded in 1619 with the introduction of slavery, and not that the end of slavery began with the beginning of America thanks to the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence.
When The New York Times isn’t busy demonizing our founding, what else is it doing? Well, Friday’s front page of America’s “Paper of Record” was filled with the false narrative that Russia is stealing the 2020 election.
Further in you’ll discover that the “Gray Lady,” as the Times is often called, gave over the editorial page to the Taliban.
Sirajuddin Haqqani, a Taliban leader, who has a $10 million bounty on his head and is responsible for the murder of many Americans and countless Afghanis, is being allowed by the left’s flagship newspaper to tell us what his demands are.

The 23-year-old is based at Camp Carroll near the city of Daegu, where most of the country's coronavirus cases have been clustered, and he visited Camp Walker earlier this week. He is the first U.S. service member to become infected. Health professionals are trying to determine whether or not others have been exposed to COVID-19, U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) said in a statement. "USFK is implementing all appropriate control measures to help control the spread of COVID-19 and remains at risk level 'high' for USFK peninsula-wide as a prudent measure to protect the force," the command said. The news comes as American and South Korean officials are considering restricting joint military exercises over concerns about the virus. U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper and South Korean Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo told reporters on Tuesday that the coronavirus is a threat to the military drills, which are held throughout the year. The U.S. has around 28,500 troops stationed in South Korea, where it maintains a strong presence to deter potential North Korean aggression. On Monday, USFK announced the 61-year-old widow of a U.S. soldier who lives in Daegu tested positive for the virus. The news prompted the command to raise its risk level to high through the peninsula. South Korea’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday that 134 new cases were confirmed in Daegu and another 19 from neighboring towns. South Korean officials reported that 11 people have died so far. South Korea now has a total of 1,146 confirmed coronavirus cases. “This week will be critical in the fight to combat the [...] illness,” Prime Minister Chung Se-kyun said at a meeting in Daegu City Hall. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed that it now expects a large increase in U.S. cases, and urged Americans to prepare for “the expectation that this might be bad.” Nancy Messonnier, the director of the Center DC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said that “it’s not so much of a question of if this will happen in this country any more but a question of when this will happen.” She also warned that “the disruption of daily life might be severe.” The Trump administration has delivered a mixed response on the virus, with U.S. health secretary Alex Azar admitting during a Senate hearing on Tuesday that “we cannot hermetically seal off the United States to a virus . . . and we need to be realistic about that.” Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf added that “we only know that, again, we anticipate those numbers to grow in the U.S.,” but said he could not give an “exact number.” Later in the day, National Economic Council Director Larry Kudlow struck a different tone on CNBC. “We have contained this — I won’t say airtight, but it’s pretty close to airtight,” he said. Stocks plunged for the second consecutive day, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell over 900 points after Tuesday-morning gains. President Trump told reporters in India early Tuesday that he thought “the whole situation will start working out.” There are currently 14 domestic cases confirmed in the country, with an additional three cases among those evacuated from China aboard U.S.-chartered flights, and 40 aboard the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Asia. In 2016, there were 1,178 robberies against children under 18 years of age. In 2019, the number had increased to 2,484. The number of violent crimes where the suspect is a child under 15 years of age has also gone up dramatically: In 2015, there were 6,359 reported violent crimes where the suspect was a child under 15. In 2019, that number had increased to 8,719 reported violent crimes. The crimes involve "Violence to the head, kicks, gun threats, burning with lighters, threats to kill, threats to bomb the school, stabbings with food knives, bites and children who have been scratched, dragged, thrown and locked up by other children". The lowest age of a suspected perpetrator was seven. There has also been an increasing number of girl gangs. One girl was violently assaulted by a gang of five girls who kicked her, beat her and spat at her. The girl said she thought she was going to die. "It's ordinary children who are robbed on their way to and from school, they are called 'whore' and told that they're going to get a Glock in the mouth. I think we are letting the kids down", said regional police chief Carin Götblad. Crimes committed by children under 15 years of age are not investigated by the police; they are left to the social workers. "When we get such cases, we send them to the social workers and then it goes a little under the radar. This is not something we have discussed before," said Götblad, who criticized municipalities for not taking crimes committed by children seriously enough. "I think there is an inherent reflex to ignore it because it's not very nice, but then we who are professionals need to look at this in particular and raise awareness. I am terribly worried about all vulnerable victims of crime," Götblad said. Cuccinelli, who serves as a top member on the Trump administration’s coronavirus task force, said Monday that the origins of the novel virus remain unknown, and while its characteristics suggest it isn’t man-made, he could not completely reject the theory that it was created in a laboratory in China’s Hubei province. “Our colleagues at CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention] and NIH [National Institutes of Health] on the task force have made it very clear that we don’t yet know the origin of this particular virus,” Cuccinelli told Fox News medical correspondent Dr. Marc Siegel on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” “We are not entirely sure how this one started yet,” Cuccinelli continued. “There is a biological facility in the Hubei province that people worry about. But I will say the reading that I have done of medical professionals suggest that the structure of the virus seems unlikely to have been man-made because if it was made to be a threat, you would expect to see certain characteristics that aren’t present.” “Does that mean it rules it out? No, not absolutely,” he said. The coronavirus outbreak began in late 2019 in Wuhan, the capital city of China’s Hubei province. Since then, it has spread to most every corner of the globe. There are now more than 77,600 confirmed cases and 2,663 deaths in China from the novel virus, according to NBC News. The White House is seeking $2.5 billion in emergency funds to fight the coronavirus. The World Health Organization, however, has yet to deem the virus as a pandemic. The coronavirus has killed more people than SARS, another deadly virus that originated in China. Fears of a global pandemic caused the stock market to plunge, with the Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq all falling when the markets opened Monday morning. Doug Collins said when Attorney General William Barr testifies before the House Judiciary Committee next month, the George Republican plans to ask him about the dropped criminal investigation into a top FBI official... "Why like Andrew McCabe was not charged," Collins asked Sunday on Fox News's Sunday Morning Futures. "Someone who is an admitted liar. Someone who was let go from his job. The American people, the average Joe who gets up in the morning and says if I lie to the authorities, if I lie to the police, something is going to happen to me." The Justice Department announced earlier this month that McCabe, the former deputy director of the FBI, would not be charged in an investigation into whether he lied to investigators about a media leak two years ago. "We said at the outset of the criminal investigation, almost two years ago, that if the facts and the law determined the result, no charges would be brought,” federal prosecutors said. “We are pleased that Andrew McCabe and his family can go on with their lives without this cloud hanging over them.” President Trump cried foul, suggesting his longtime confidant Roger Stone, who was sentenced to 40 months in prison for obstruction, witness tampering, and lying to Congress. Trump's allies argue that Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz's report on the Russia investigation, which found at least 17 "significant errors or omissions" in the warrants to monitor onetime Trump campaign adviser Carter Page, is evidence of a so-called deep state that sought to undermine the president. As the Justice Department found that at least two of the four Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act orders were not valid, Republicans such as Collins have vowed to expose what they say is corruption at the highest levels of law enforcement. The CEA detailed that, under former President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, drug prices continued to increase and only started to fall after Trump took the oath of office.The CEA wrote that prescription drug prices fell more than 11 percent and well below general inflation. “In 2018, prescription drug prices even declined in nominal terms over the calendar year for the first time since 1972,” the White House council wrote. The CEA attributed much of this to the president’s signing of the 2017 Drug Competition Action Plan and the 2018 Strategic Policy Roadmap. The CEA said the reforms enhance “choice and price competition in the biopharmaceutical markets.” “We estimate that the results of these actions will save consumers almost 10 percent on retail prescription drugs, which results in an increase of $32 billion per year in the purchasing power of the incomes of Americans including both consumers and producers,” the council added. The president’s progress on reducing the cost of prescription drugs follows as a Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF) poll found that health care is the most important issue for all voters as well as swing voters. Swing voters said that health care was one of the most motivating issues for swing voters to participate in the 2020 presidential election. During the State of the Union address in February, Trump promised to do more to lower prescription drugs and called on Congress to pass Sen. { jpost.com } ~ On Monday, Iranian official Ahmad Amirabadi said there have been up to 50 deaths in Iran from coronavirus. The regime did what it knows how to do best... It sought to silence him and condemn him for spreading the news, claiming that only 12 had died from the virus and that there were only 61 cases in the country. However, for five days Iran has known that there were likely more cases concentrated in the holy city of Qom, where religious pilgrims gather. Iranians have been largely left in the dark since last Wednesday, when two deaths were announced in the Islamic Republic from coronavirus. The regime wanted elections to go well on February 21, so it sought to prevent any news of the virus for days. By Saturday it was too late, and the country moved to shut down schools and universities. But Iranians and other pilgrims who came to Qom and became sick with the virus were already on the move. They flew back to Iraq’s Najaf and via Dubai to Bahrain, as well as arriving in Kuwait and Oman. Iran did not inform its neighbors until it was too late. Last Friday, Turkish government officials were already warning that there might be 750 cases in Iran. Iranian Deputy Health Minister Iraj Hairichi and MP Mahmoud Sadeghi now say they are sick with the virus, and officials admit that many more are sick. New cases in Oman and Bahrain were announced Tuesday – all linked to Iran. Iran has now set the Middle East ablaze with fears of coronavirus. The virus was mostly limited to China until two weeks ago. Then it moved rapidly to Italy and South Korea, where there are thought to be hundreds and 1,000 cases, respectively. But the regime in Tehran purposely hid the numbers of sick....

Britain's NHS Tribalizes Healthcare
Arnold Ahlert: The leading presidential contenders in the Democrat Party all favor eliminating private healthcare insurance by different means, and the machinations they use to get there are about what Democrats are always about: The acquisition and maintenance of power by any means necessary. Equally contemptible? Democrats have long made it clear that anyone who disagrees with any part of their agenda is unworthy of consideration. Those wondering what such a combination would yield in terms of healthcare need wonder no more: Beginning in April, Britain’s National Health Service (NHS) will be able to refuse nonemergency care for “sexist” and “racist” patients.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock, who believes “no act of violence or abuse is minor,” wrote to all NHS staffers, “Being assaulted or abused is not part of the job. Far too often I hear stories that the people you are trying to help lash out. I’ve seen it for myself in A&Es, on night shifts, and on ambulances.”
To implement his new program, Hancock has reached a joint agreement with police and the Crown Prosecution Service. It will grant the police greater powers to investigate and prosecute cases where NHS staffers are presumably victims of a crime. “All assault and hate crimes against NHS staff must be investigated with care, compassion, diligence and commitment,” he declared.
No sane person would argue that healthcare providers must endure people who threaten them with violence or are actually physically abusive. In fact, staff can currently refuse to treat such people. Yet the additional measures are pure pablum aimed at assuaging progressive sensibilities. As Sky News puts it, the new protections will “extend to any harassment, bullying or discrimination, including homophobic, sexist or racist remarks.”
Defined by whom? Some hypersensitive snowflake indoctrinated to believe “white privilege,” gender “fluidity,” “social justice,” or any other manifestation of the “woke agenda” should be part of the criteria for determining who gets treated and who doesn’t?
Apparently so. While a 2019 survey of 569,000 NHS employees revealed that 15% have experienced physical assault, rising to 34% among ambulance staffers, more than one in four stated they had experienced harassment, bullying, or abuse over the past year. “Racism was the most common form of discrimination, but 2019 also saw the highest levels of reported sexism and intolerance of religion and sexuality,” the Daily Mail reports.
“All colleagues in the NHS deserve to work in a safe, caring and compassionate environment,” Hancock insists. “You deserve a working environment that supports your physical and mental health, and helps you be the very best you can be.”
Again, with a large exception for safety, this is utter nonsense. There is no perfect world where patients, already injured, impaired, and/or stressed enough to seek care, will comport themselves solely in a manner that uplifts the entire consumer-provider relationship and helps the provider to be “the very best you can be.”
As for a compassionate and caring environment, who’s kidding whom? In 2008, British medical ethics expert Baroness Warnock asserted that people suffering from dementia are a burden on the NHS and should be allowed to opt for euthanasia, even if they are not in pain.
Four years later, Professor Patrick Pullicino, a consultant neurologist for East Kent Hospitals and professor of clinical neurosciences at the University of Kent, asserted that the “Liverpool Care Pathway,” which provided palliative care for terminally ill patients, was killing off 130,00 people per year, because they were difficult to manage — or to free up beds for other patients.
In 2017, the NHS decided to single out obese people and smokers. Those with a body mass index over 40 were denied nonemergency surgery unless they lost weight. Smokers had to quit for at least eight weeks and then had to be tested to detect the levels of carbon monoxide in their blood to make sure. Also in 2017, the NHS took away the parental rights of Chris Gard and Connie Yates so their gravely ill son, Charlie, could “die with dignity” rather than receive experimental treatment in America.
Thus, while the latest agreement precipitated by Hancock refers to the possibility that NHS staffers may be abused by people in crisis or with neurological conditions who will ostensibly be handled appropriately, the track record of antipathy toward “certain” types of patients — as in those insufficiently attuned to progressive sensibilities — is impossible to ignore.
The group most likely to offend? “Elderly people make up most of the patients in any health care system,” explains columnist Andrea Widburg. “They are also the people least likely to be ‘woke.’ Without malice, they may use old-fashioned phrases that are now considered offensive when referring to women, homosexuality, or race. They probably don’t even have a vocabulary for ‘non-binary’ people.”
Even more to the point, conditions like early onset dementia and Alzheimer’s engender serious changes in behavior, often manifested as hostility. How will those patients be “appropriately handled”? Columnist Paul Joseph Watson illuminates the arc from the present to a highly dystopian future — one that isn’t solely about lack of treatment for the elderly. “First it was deplatforming people from social media websites, then it was deplatforming people from bank accounts and mortgages.” he writes. “Now it’s deplatforming people from hospital treatment. Literally eliminating people’s right to basic health care because of their political or social opinions.”
Right now, when Americans go to a hospital for nonemergency care, they are usually asked to present proof of insurance and/or another from of identification, such as a driver’s license. Will those politicians who champion a system similar or identical to the NHS ultimately require patients to submit access to their social-media accounts as well?
As columnist Laura Hollis explains, “The new NHS rule is intended to protect health care workers from insults and slurs. But it is easy to see how something similar in the United States could be twisted for political advantage, particularly given the widespread tendency in some quarters to treat every political, policy or cultural disagreement as an expression of hate: racism, sexism, homophobia or other bigotry.”
That would be progressive quarters where “microaggressions,” “triggering,” and “implicit bias” are seen as reasonable ways to determine “improper” behavior.
Yet even Hollis somewhat misses the point. In certain professions, putting up with annoying or tough customers is part of the job, and the notion that anyone could err to the side of hypersensitivity with regard to refusing someone healthcare is absurd. Moreover, unlike Britain, we have a First Amendment that allows for free speech, even if — or especially if — it is offensive.
In reality, the NHS is embracing an exclusionary political agenda sold as compassion. That’s not healthcare. It’s tribalism. ~The Patriot Post

How Trump can Save Rural Health Care

{ americanthinker.com } ~ In the lead-up to the 2020 presidential election, America is coming to terms with a grim reality: thanks in large part to the federal government’s destructive, centrally planned healthcare initiatives, the healthcare industry is deteriorating rapidly... The system doesn’t have the resources to address the United States’ growing medical needs -- and nowhere is this more acutely felt than in rural America. A December Fox News report highlighted how fixing the rural healthcare crisis has become a top campaign issue for many states. Since 2005, over 160 rural hospitals have closed their doors, and no less than 430 more are at risk of shutting down. Coupled with the looming doctor shortage, the shuttering of rural-based hospitals presents a difficult problem for the 46 million Americans living in low-population-density areas. President Trump has been ahead of the curve on this issue. His office isn’t merely parading slogans and empty promises; for the last three years and counting, it has been working to combat this issue. Whether the administration is updating Medicare payment policies to advance rural medical innovation or easing regulations for rural providers, it has done a great deal to expand healthcare access throughout the American heartland. The residents of critical electoral states like Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Texas have taken note. The Democrat nominees have taken note as well. In an attempt to cut into the president’s rural voting base, candidates such as socialist-Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar have drummed up some noise by trotting out their own “solutions” to this crisis. Their pie-in-the-sky plans won’t mean much to these voters -- not when they already have a proven ally in the White House. However, if the Trump White House makes any mistakes on this issue, it will allow them to pounce and steal away some support. And unfortunately, if implemented, a well-intentioned but harmful new measure from Trump’s Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) can do just that. CMS recently proposed policy, called the Medical Fiscal Accountability Regulation (MFAR), intended to reform Medicaid. At issue are the federal matching funds Washington, D.C. provides to the states for the entitlement program -- a policy that has unintentionally led to the states ballooning their Medicaid budgets, thereby costing the federal government a considerable amount of money....

This all began last Friday when Sotomayor, who was nominated by President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama in 2009, issued a blistering dissent after a ruling in the case of Wolf v. Cook County. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of allowing the Trump administration to enforce its “public charge” immigration restriction, lifting a pair of preliminary injunctions issued by federal judges. The “Public Charge” rule states that legal immigrants are less likely to secure permanent residency in the U.S. if they have used any forms of welfare in the past, such as food stamps or other taxpayer-funded housing programs. The rule, announced by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services in August, defines a “public charge” as an immigrant who received one or more designated benefits for more than 12 months within a 36-month period. The 5-4 split vote divided the court’s conservatives and liberals, and Sotomayor took a take a cheap shot at her conservative colleagues. She wrote in her dissent, “It is hard to say what is more troubling: that the Government would seek this extraordinary relief seemingly as a matter of course, or that the Court would grant it.”....

The court upheld the Trump administration’s June 2019 declaration that taxpayer-funded clinics must stop referring women for abortions or be stripped of their Title X funding. Judge Sandra Ikuta wrote Monday’s majority opinion, stating that “there is no ‘gag’ on nondirective abortion counseling.” The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) followed the decision in June by alerting clinics that it would enforce the administration’s ban. Planned Parenthood withdrew from the Title X federal family planning program, thereby forgoing about $60 million a year, in August 2019 rather than comply with this decision. The rules, which advance President Donald Trump’s promise to stop funding businesses that perform abortions, require that organizations that perform abortions and make abortion referrals will have to do so in separate buildings from those that receive Title X federal funds. “Today’s ruling is a vindication of President Trump’s pro-life policies and a victory for the American people,” Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement, adding that abortion is not family planning and that “a strong majority of Americans” oppose taxpayer-funded abortions. “President Trump’s Protect Life Rule honors their will and the plain language of the Title X statute by stopping the funneling of Title X taxpayer dollars to the abortion industry, without reducing family planning funding by a dime,” Dannenfelser added. “We thank President Trump and HHS Secretary Alex Azar for their strong pro-life leadership and look forward to the end of further frivolous litigation by the abortion lobby.”....

Unable to get funding from the government, Sinclair purchased with his own money Bletchley Park in Buckinghamshire. This would be the site of the most spectacular cryptographic breakthroughs in history, made possible in part by the engineering of the world’s first programmable electronic digital computer. In September of 1938, Neville Chamberlain returned from Munich to announce that he had achieved “peace in our time.” Alexander Denniston, operational head of GCCS, was skeptical. Deinniston, who had led the team that decrypted the Zimmermann Telegram, set out to recruit prospective cryptologists. He dined at the high tables of most of the Oxford and Cambridge colleges and identified the most brilliant and creative problem-solvers among the young dons and students. GCCS sleuths were mostly former scholars in the humanities, but Denniston recruited mathematicians, linguists, engineers, and others. Some were keen chess players; several were accomplished musicians. Many were eccentric. There seemed to be a correlation The story of Bletchley Park has often been told, sometimes as in the films Enigma and The Imitation Game with a great deal of creative license. German ciphers were encrypted by the Enigma machine. This electromagnetic device used as many as 8 rotors to encode and decode German text. The settings were changed daily at midnight. Using a model of the machine build by the Polish Cypher Bureau and smuggled out of the country, Alan Turing’s team first broke a code in January 1940. But the operation was enormously time consuming. Even a 3-rotor Enigma could produce nearly 159 quintillion (million million million) different settings. A new machine had to be created to accelerate the process. The first device was the electromechanical “bombe,” the second, the famous Colossus, the first digital computer, operational in February 1944. Ultra, the intelligence generated by Bletchley Park, was invaluable in winning the war. Without it, the conflict might have claimed hundreds of thousands of additional lives and ended with the dropping of an atomic bomb on Berlin, or with the meeting of Soviet and American troops on the Rhine. Historians have argued for worse outcomes, including the failure of the Normandy invasion. After returning to the classroom in 1979 to teach history, one of the first assignments I gave was for students to find someone 70 years old or older and ask a series of questions. Interview subjects would have been born in 1909 or earlier and, if they lived in New England, would almost certainly have known people who died in that plague. Its American epicenter was Fort Devens in central Massachusetts.
It was called "Camp Devens" then.
About 850 soldiers died there in 1918 after it spread from Commonwealth Pier in Boston where the first recorded outbreak seems to have occurred according to the New England Historical Society. The American version of the epidemic eventually killed 675,000 Americans and perhaps 100 million worldwide. Even more surprising was that the most vulnerable demographic was young adults — about 10% died globally.

What’s Really Driving the Homelessness Crisis

There are now an estimated 166,752 people on the streets in California, Oregon, and Washington... and sensational stories of human despair and the return of medieval diseases have captured the public imagination. Even President Donald Trump has tweeted about the “very bad and dangerous conditions” in San Francisco and warned that leaders must take action “to clean up these hazardous waste and homeless sites before the whole city rots away.” There has been remarkably little clarity, however, on the key question: What’s really driving the homelessness crisis in West Coast cities? For the past decade, progressive political leaders, activists, and media organizations have insisted that housing costs are the primary cause of homelessness. There is some truth to that: It’s obvious that in the largest West Coast cities, where a one-bedroom apartment rents for at least $2,000 a month, it’s more difficult for low-income individuals to afford stable housing. However, as an emerging body of evidence shows, homelessness in America’s West Coast cities—particularly unsheltered homelessness—is not driven primarily by high housing costs, but rather by three interrelated phenomena: addiction, mental illness, and permissive public policies. In cities such as Los Angeles, Seattle, and San Francisco, residents have complained about rampant public drug consumption, psychotic episodes, and millions of used hypodermic needles that have been discarded on city streets. Still, despite the obvious visible evidence, progressive political leaders have insisted on the fiction that addiction and mental illness are only a small part of the homelessness crisis. Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan insists that only “1 in 4” of the homeless struggle with drugs and alcohol, while Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti does not even list addiction as one of the major causes of homelessness on his official website. However, as the Los Angeles Times has demonstrated in a recent investigation, “mental illness and substance abuse … are much more pervasive in Los Angeles County’s homeless population than officials have previously reported.”....

the Bold Leadership?

{ spectator.org } ~ Until now, most international bodies have remained cautiously optimistic regarding the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), refusing to take hard measures necessary to prevent the spread of the disease... This hesitancy is understandable, given that the Western world has not experienced a major pandemic since the outbreak of HIV/AIDS in the 1980s and given world leaders’ desire to maintain solidarity with those countries hit hardest by the outbreak. As a military officer, I can also appreciate their desire to maintain calm. Calm people are rational people, and calm people mean calm markets and civil order. Still, it seems likely that there are more factors at play constraining action. As the virus continues to spread and casualties mount, it is becoming increasingly obvious that what the world needs is neither Pollyannaism nor cowardly political calculations, but decisive leaders willing to make tough decisions to prevent greater future problems. Paralysis does no one favors in the long run. To most casual observers, the lack of common sense was on display as early as mid-January, when, despite revelations that the virus was airborne, that patients could spread the disease before demonstrating symptoms, and that it had already jumped from China to neighboring Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, and Japan, the World Health Organization (WHO) refused to declare a global health emergency for several more weeks it finally did so on January 30. This not only downplayed the problem, but delayed the delivery of resources to infected areas and postponed the gathering of experts to study the problem and issue recommendations.To date, the WHO has still not declared the situation a pandemic, despite the number of cases reaching almost 80,000 and affecting 37 countries in all six WHO regions, with hot spots as widespread as South Korea, Iran, and Italy. The WHO also has sought to downplay the seriousness of the virus by reporting a mortality rate of 2.5 percent. This, however, fails to consider the “lag effect” by comparing the number of deaths to the number of total cases, rather than comparing deaths to recoveries. These numbers also assume that countries are reporting accurate data, a big assumption that local reporters and netizens in face-saving countries like China and Iran have called into question. More accurate counting reveals that close to 22 percent of patients experience “serious or critical” symptoms, and 9 percent of resolved cases have led to death. In a world of almost eight billion people, a 9-percent mortality rate could mean deaths well into the hundreds of millions, eclipsing the 1918 Spanish influenza’s 20 to 50 million. When countries like Australia and the U.S. instituted sensible travel restrictions to and from China, the WHO criticized these measures and advised that they be lifted. Counterintuitively, it went so far as to argue that such travel restrictions would actually promote the spread of the disease rather than slow it. The European Union has likewise failed to institute travel restrictions, taking a hands-off approach by allowing individual member states to institute their own restrictions. What the New Self-Reliance Rule
Means for Immigrants

Yet when the Department of Homeland Security proposed taking self-reliance into account in weighing applications for green cards or immigration visas, liberals condemned the proposal as harsh and sued to block the proposed rule from taking effect. Initially, they won court injunctions in several jurisdictions. Now, however, all have been dismissed. And so, the Inadmissibility on Public Charge Grounds rule took effect nationwide Monday. If you think that means poor immigrants must now abandon all hope of entering the U.S. or becoming permanent residents, think again. The left has tremendously overblown the scope of this rule. The rule defines a “public charge” as one who receives one or more designated public benefits for more than 12 months, in the aggregate, within any 36-month period such that, for example, receipt of two benefits in one month counts as two months. The rule defines “public benefit” to include any federal, state, local, or tribal cash benefits for income maintenance including Social Security, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, General Assistance, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, most forms of Medicaid, Section 8 Housing/Rental Assistance, and public housing. A senior Iranian official has already threatened to strike Israel if America were to respond militarily to any Iranian retaliation for the death of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the chief of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force, and the driving force behind Iran’s network of proxy armies such as Hezbollah. "If the US takes any action after our military response, we will level Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground," said Mohsen Rezayee, Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council and a former IRGC commander, according to Iran’s Fars News Agency. The council advises Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and also has legislative powers. Ironically, that would be the sort of strategy employed by Iran’s former number one enemy, Saddam Hussein. During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, Saddam fired 39 Scud ballistic missiles at Israel, in an attempt to provoke Israel into attacking Iraq and thus splitting the U.S.-led coalition of European and Arab states. The attempt nearly succeeded: Israel was barely dissuaded by U.S. pressure from retaliating. Iran’s rhetoric suggests that the main target of its ire is the U.S. But to borrow the language of the Bible, attacking Israel would offer Iran both a blessing and a curse. Tehran has a plethora of lethal options that could be employed against its arch-nemesis. Its proxy Hezbollah in Lebanon could conduct small ground raids into northern Israel, or even unleash some of its estimated 150,000 Iranian-supplied rockets though at the risk of triggering a full-scale Israel-Lebanon war that could drag in Iran and perhaps the United States.There is also Hamas in Gaza, no stranger to rocketing Israeli towns and which has recently reconciled with Iran after a split over the Syrian conflict. More important, there is Syria, which has become an Iranian firebase on Israel’s border, with thousands of Iranian troops and advisers, plus a sizeable contingent of Hezbollah and other non-Syrian Shia troops propping up the Syrian regime. These forces can hit Israeli troops and settlements in the Golan Heights. Free Markets ... Really
Robin Smith: A new group is causing a bit of a stir among talkingheads, columnists, and policy wonks on the Right. American Compass, a new organization set to supposedly reclaim the conservative mantle of capitalism that aims to serve all Americans from the supposed wild west of libertarian free markets, announced its founding last week. It features folks associated with Sens. Marco Rubio and rino-Mitt Romney, along with the Heritage Foundation’s PAC and Hillsdale College, among other notable policy wells.
The group’s argument is simply that the economy under President Donald Trump is being run by free-market fundamentalism and is leaving many behind.
Yet to accept the premise of the American Compass folks, one would have to believe that federal, state, and local governments are pretty much hands-off in their approach to markets. Clearly, that’s just not so. Governments at all three levels routinely pick winners and losers, which always ends up yielding more regulation. That in turn creates imbalance and the redistribution of wealth, which permits bad behavior among individuals who, in completely free markets, would instead stand responsible for behavior and choices.
Sounding a great deal like social justice lite, American Compass Executive Director Oren Cass declares, “Conservative economics will take seriously the effects of social and market forces on each other. It will concern itself with the pernicious effects that the high level of economic inequality can have on the social fabric, the market’s functioning and people’s well-being.”
Instead of focusing on this new group that will get big money, write papers, and posit a new intellectual approach to markets, what if conservatives just addressed the perverted incentives and the constructs of a market that still picks winners and losers?
Let’s take a look.
A growing number of Americans are not embracing socialism because of the failure of capitalism or the mythically unfettered free market. Socialism is popularized in theory because much of America’s economy is influenced by corporatism and cronyism posing as capitalism.
Socialism is an economy of wealth redistribution void of merit or responsibility with concentrated power in the hands of the governing elite overseeing said redistribution. Cronyism is a framework of business where success results from government picking winners and losers with targeted tax breaks or protection laws that either prohibit competition or assist in erecting barriers to competition. Corporatism merges aspects of capitalism and socialism without the complete destruction of private-property rights, but it essentially protects big companies from free-market forces for some identified “public good” that typically serves the well-connected interests of the governing elite over the consumer or other competing interests.
It is not “free-market capitalism” to allow banking, health systems, big tech, and all things big to find protections from competition and distortions of market forces under the premise of a “public good” when the government selectivity protects certain interests and not the power of the individual consumer.
Critics of capitalism are angered with misbehaving capitalists. Bad actors give any effort, cause, or endeavor a bad name. The greedy, the immoral, and the corrupt who operate behind the guise of free markets but are predatory or exploitive give capitalism a bad name. Hence, laws and regulations are put in place to deal with the bad actors and, thus, change the market influence and forces. As William F. Buckley Jr. often quoted, “The trouble with socialism is socialism. The trouble with capitalism is capitalists.” The solution isn’t to fight the straw man of supposedly unfettered markets.

The Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a federal agency did not have the authority to issue a special-use permit for pipeline construction under the Appalachian Trail. The government and energy companies responsible for the project warn that the ruling effectively turns the trail into a barrier that walls off the East Coast from resource-rich lands in the interior of the country. "There is no basis in any federal statute to conclude that Congress intended to convert the Appalachian Trail into a 2,200-mile barrier separating critical natural resources from the Eastern Seaboard," the energy companies told the justices in legal briefs. The project at issue Monday is called the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. Developers say the pipeline is necessary to meet both soaring energy demands and public interest in clean-burning fuel. If constructed, the pipeline would carry natural gas approximately 600 miles from Harrison County, W.Va., to Virginia and North Carolina. The pipeline crosses beneath the Appalachian Trail southwest of Charlottesville, Va., in the George Washington National Forest (GWNF). The legal question in Monday's case is highly technical, asking which agency is in charge of the trail. The U.S. Forest Service issued a special-use permit to construct the pipeline under the trail pursuant to its jurisdiction over the GWNF. The Fourth Circuit said that permit is invalid, citing a 1968 law that gives the National Park Service (NPS) administrative authority over the trail. Pipelines cannot be built across national parklands without an act of Congress....

A firearm was found near his body and the car. The statement makes clear there has been no determination of suicide yet, contrary to incorrect readings of the initial statement released Saturday that described the scene as an apparent suicide but noted the investigation was active and ongoing. On February 22, 2020 the Amador County Sheriff’s Office released initial details regarding Philip Haney being found deceased in our jurisdiction. Mr. Haney was located in a park and ride open area immediately adjacent to State Highway 16 near State Highway 124. Highway 16 is a busy state highway and used as a main travel route to and from Sacramento. The location is less than 3 miles from where he was living. Currently we have scheduled a forensic autopsy to be performed by forensic pathologists from the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Additionally we have reached out to our law enforcement partners in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to assist in analyzing documents, phone records and a lap top that were recovered from the scene and Mr. Haney’s RV. We are currently in possession of his vehicle, the firearm located at the scene, and his RV and we will be requesting evidence processing assistance from the FBI on those items as well. Unfortunately, there was misinformation immediately being put out that we have determined Mr. Haney’s death to be a suicide. This is not the case. Leftmedia, Not Russians, Biggest Threat to U.S. Elections
Thomas Gallatin: The Russians are at it again, seeking to interfere in U.S. elections. We’re shocked — shocked. The Russians have been playing this game for generations now. That this is considered pressing headline news only serves to highlight the gross bias prevalent within the mainstream media.
Case in point: Following last week’s intelligence briefing before the House Intelligence Committee, in which lawmakers were notified of Moscow’s continuing efforts to interfere in our nation’s electoral process, the mainstream media’s headlines declared that Russia favors President Donald Trump in 2020. “It’s 2016 all over again,” declared leftist political pundits and Democrats as they dusted off the false narrative that Trump’s victory was due to Russian interference.
Once again, there is no evidence that our nation’s actual election process was compromised, rigged, or manipulated by the Russians or anyone else. The interference being breathlessly reported is largely that of a disinformation campaign waged mostly online via social media. While serious, it only becomes problematic when Americans lose trust in those ostensibly tasked with objectively reporting the news.
On Friday, a new headline hit declaring that the Russians are working to boost Bernie Sanders’s campaign. The news was based on the leak of a classified briefing Sanders received a month ago in which he was notified by U.S. intelligence officials that Russians were actively engaged in an effort to support his campaign, evidently in a similar fashion to that of Trump’s. There is little doubt that the Russians are doing exactly that, especially given that, ideologically, they have much more in common with Bolshevik Bernie’s policy platform than Trump’s.
The problem, however, is the obviously timed leak to the media. Responding to the news, Sanders alluded to this, stating, “I’ll let you guess, about one day before the Nevada caucuses, why do you think it came out?” In any case, Sanders disavowed any Russian help, insisting, “I don’t care, frankly, who [Vladimir] Putin wants to be president. My message to Putin is clear: ‘Stay out of American elections, and as president I will make sure that you do.’”
Trump also blasted the media report, declaring, “MSDNC (Comcast Slime), CNN and others of the Fake Media, have now added Crazy commie-Bernie to the list of Russian Sympathizers, along with Tulsi Gabbard & Jill Stein (of the Green Party), both agents of Russia, they say. But now they report President Putin wants Bernie (or me) to win.” He then observed, “The reason for this is that the Do Nothing Democrats, using disinformation Hoax number 7, don’t want commie-Bernie Sanders to get the Democrat Nomination, and they figure this would be very bad for his chances. It’s all rigged, again, against Crazy commie-Bernie Sanders!”
The problem is not the MSM reporting on Russian efforts to interfere; it’s that the MSM plays along with Moscow’s false narrative suggesting that the Russians’ objective is seeing a certain individual win the election, i.e. Trump or commie-Sanders. The real objective of Russia’s disinformation campaign is to sow distrust in America’s electoral system, with the aim of further dividing our nation and weakening our government. Would Putin prefer a feckless Democrat such as Sanders to Trump? Most definitely, but his greater and longer-term goal is permanently disabling Americans’ trust in our electoral system. ~The Patriot Post

Germany’s DAX was down over 4%, and Italy’s sole stock market, the Borsa Italiana, closed 5.43% down from its prior closing. Italy confirmed its fifth death from the virus earlier on Monday. World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Monday that the outbreak has the potential to become a pandemic. “We must focus on containment while doing everything we can to prepare for a potential pandemic,” Ghebreyesus said in France via a public broadcast service. He added that there are nearly 80,000 confirmed cases in 28 countries of the disease. Over 2,600 worldwide have died from the virus. Officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday said an additional 18 people in the United States have been infected by the virus, bringing the total to 53 in the U.S. China's top legislative body on Monday postponed its annual meeting of parliament because of the coronavirus. The FBI Is Investigating Massive Embezzlement
of Border Patrol Union Funds

{ propublica.org } ~ The FBI is investigating the disappearance of some $500,000 from the coffers of the powerful union representing the country’s roughly 20,000 Border Patrol agents... said the organization’s national president, Brandon Judd. Judd said the probe is focused on identifying the individuals responsible for siphoning the money from the bank accounts of the union’s El Paso branch in recent years. “We know the FBI is looking at it,” said Judd, head of the National Border Patrol Council, which has forged a close alliance with President Donald Trump. Under the Trump administration, the Border Patrol, a once obscure federal agency, has been thrust into the center of a rancorous debate over immigration policy, facing intense criticism over the squalid conditions in the agency’s overcrowded detention facilities, a string of migrant deaths and revelations that some 9,500 current and former agents were part of a private Facebook group that included vulgar and misogynistic content. Equally troubling has been evidence of ongoing lawlessness in the agency’s ranks. Over the past five years, hundreds of Border Patrol agents have been arrested on charges ranging from drunken driving to murder, causing alarm among congressional leaders, law enforcement experts and the Border Patrol’s own advisory board, which in 2016 warned that criminal misconduct by agents could undermine the agency’s ability to secure the borders. The unfolding financial scandal in the El Paso sector, one of the busiest and most important in the country, is likely to raise fresh questions about the integrity of the agents tasked with policing the southern border. Staffed and run largely by active-duty agents, the El Paso local represents the interests of more than 1,400 Border Patrol employees stationed across west Texas and New Mexico.Rumors that the local’s coffers had been looted through a long-running embezzlement scheme had been circulating through the ranks of the Border Patrol since 2018, after a change in the leadership of the local. But it wasn’t until last November that Judd told a gathering of concerned agents in El Paso exactly how much money was missing. According to an audio recording obtained by ProPublica, Judd told the agents that forensic auditors hired by the union had discovered “$352,389.31 that was misappropriated. They also found that there was another $150,035.65 that was not properly paid to the IRS in tax money. Coupled with reports of dead bodies and local folklore about the bird, their appearance is causing a sense of dread for those who see the hordes of feathered beasts. Many of the videos popping up recently were recorded near the city of Wuhan, where the deadly COVID-19 virus first originated months ago. Although the clips are taken from all around Hubei province, they all show an unsettling amount of crows ominously wheeling overhead. One video reportedly from Hanchuan, a city next to Wuhan, shows an entire murder of crows darkening the sky as they fly in all directions. Nearby trees can be seen crowded with the black birds. Another video supposedly taken from nearby Jingzhou shows a large group of the birds circling overhead as if waiting for a feast. According to The Epoch Times, one answer for the odd phenomenon was hinted at on Chinese social media. “The crow is an eater of carrion. The elderly say that crows seem to anticipate death because they can smell it, even before a person dies,” the user wrote. “In other words, they can smell the odor of a dying person; but we humans cannot. The legal basis for removing scumbag-Soros is quite clear. The Holtzman Amendment states that "Any alien… under the direction of, or in association with... (II) any government in any area occupied by the military forces of the Nazi government of Germany, (III) any government established with the assistance or cooperation of the Nazi government of Germany, or (IV) any government which was an ally of the Nazi government of Germany, ordered, incited, assisted, or otherwise participated in the persecution of any person because of race, religion, national origin, or political opinion is inadmissible." It provides grounds for deportation even retroactively. On 60 Minutes, scumbag-Soros had admitted working with a Hungarian Nazi collaborator to confiscate Jewish property. While he and his flacks have since tried to spin that admission, the interview is quite clear. “My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson, went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from the Jews," Steve Kroft asked the radical billionaire. “Yes, that’s right. { propublica.org } ~ One night in 2009, Madelaine Sattlefield lifted an 80-pound tray of letters carefully sorted by Missouri ZIP code. She had done this task thousands of times in nine years, but on this night... her arm seared with pain and went limp by her side. The tray crashed and sent envelopes cascading around her. She could barely move but immediately worried about what an injury might mean for her job. “Anxiety had kicked in. I was like, what are they going to say, what are they going to do?” Sattlefield said. Within months, the U.S. Postal Service fired her, one of about 44,000 employees who were either fired or left their jobs under pressure over five years in a program that “targeted” employees with work-related injuries, according to the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. A commission ruling on the class action complaint also found that the Postal Service discriminated against an additional 15,130 injured workers by changing their work duties or accommodations, and unlawfully disclosed the private medical information of injured workers across the country. Now, more than a decade later, despite the ruling, the Postal Service is still fighting the class-action complaint. It has refused to settle, stating in its latest financial report that the case’s outcome could have a “material impact” on the agency. The EEOC plans to go case by case through about 28,000 claims, and the Postal Service is contesting each worker’s allegations, which could drag out the process for years. To dispute many of the claims, the Postal Service is arguing that the workers aren’t providing sufficient proof that they actually had disabilities or were harmed by the program. “They never say die,” said Robbie Dix, head of the EEOC’s federal appellate program. In 48 years with the EEOC, the agency tasked with enforcing employment discrimination laws, Dix said he can’t recall another federal agency systematically targeting so many disabled workers. Their class action is among the largest the thinly staffed EEOC — which normally gets about 8,000 federal hearings requests each year — has handled. The Postal Service ended its program targeting employees with disabilities in 2011, but years afterward, many workers are still dealing with its consequences. Some, like Sattlefield, had permanent disabilities. Many say they suffered financial and emotional harm. Exactly how much USPS could owe the workers is unknown. The Democrats' Predicament

David LimbaughMany have noted the dilemma the socialists — er, I mean the Democrats — are in over the prospect of Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders winning their nomination. If nominated, they’re running a socialist. If not, their base will be out of sorts.
It’s time for a reckoning. The Democratic Party is going to have to be honest with itself — and the American voters — sooner or later. It is already mostly socialist. But is it ready to embrace the label?
While a majority of Democrats now have a favorable view of socialism (just think about that for a second), a majority of Americans do not, though the gap is shrinking thanks to liberal academia, Hollywood and Democratic propaganda.
Democrats always go left during primaries and pretend to be moderate during the general election campaign. But radical leftism now controls their party, and they have little plausible deniability.
If Sen. Elizabeth dinky/liar-Warren is the nominee, which seems unlikely, we’ll see the media conspiring with her to deceive voters about her socialism. With policies sometimes to the left of commie-Sanders, she still hasn’t owned up to the label.
If commie-Sanders, a card-carrying socialist, is the nominee, there’ll be no point in the media denying it — and commie-Sanders probably won’t either, though crazier things have happened than a proud socialist temporarily shedding his Marxist cap to win the presidency and push the nation further toward socialism.
There’s an arguable parallel between the 2016 Republicans and the 2020 Democrats in that each had a broad range of candidates. And if Sanders is nominated, each will have chosen an unorthodox candidate, but one whom the base can enthusiastically endorse.
The similarities end there. While the left repeats with mind-numbing monotony that the Republicans just keep moving further to the right, that’s really not true. Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, our conservative policies have finally lined up with our rhetoric, but our rhetoric — our agenda — hasn’t become appreciably more conservative since former President Ronald Reagan.
Yes, I’m aware that our never-Trump friends on the right will descend into spasms over my remark that Trump is governing conservatively, but most (not all) of those self-described “principled conservatives” are too busy cavorting with Democrats to be taken seriously. I’ll concede that Trump appears to have strayed from conservative orthodoxy on trade, but even there he’s more of a horse trader than a protectionist. He’s willing to take risks to secure better deals, but this isn’t ideological for him; it’s business, which is who he is and what he’s about.
If Bernie loses, Democrats will have to convince their hopping-mad base that they were forced to settle on a racist-sounding gazillionaire whose tax returns and emoluments clause issues will bite them in the rear — or some other lackluster candidate who will still be light-years better than the evil Donald Trump. Anyone but Trump.
If commie-Bernie wins, Democrats will have bigger problems. It’s not just that commie-Bernie’s an avowed socialist. It’s the economy, stupid! It’s the improved standard of living and rising employment across the board, especially for minorities. It’s the astounding stock market. It’s Trump’s bullishness on America, and America is, in fact, stronger again. It’s that Trump has fulfilled his promises. It’s that Trump and his exceptionally united Republican Party have, by delivering solutions, robbed Democrats of their talking points.
All they’ll have left is identity politics, which means exaggerating race problems, manufacturing gender problems and engaging in all out thermonuclear class warfare. But every bit of that message is pessimistic. No hope and change on the horizon. All the Democrats have is negativity — complaining about Trump, and whining about unfairness and alleged inequalities.
But given that all income groups are improving and race relations are better than under former President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, Democrats will have trouble winning the swing states with only negativity. It doesn’t really matter how much is owned by these evil liberal capitalist billionaires — Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, etc. If people’s lives are better — and they are — class envy won’t be nearly as seductive.
With Democrats always having a built-in electoral vote advantage, Republicans should never be smug about an upcoming election. But we should be optimistic, and we have objective reasons to be. By almost all measures, America is doing better under President Trump. Four more years! ~The Patriot Post
