It’s a bold move to call for national unity and warn that your opponent is a tyrant while the guy you replaced in a bloodless coup is trashing half of the electorate.
One week before Election Day, Vice President Kamala Harris used her “closing arguments” in D.C. on Tuesday night to feebly argue that she’s the change candidate, that she is democracy and unity, and that former President Donald Trump is despotism and tyranny. She brazenly said as much as her boss, acting President Joe Biden — whose administration has furiously tried to imprison its political enemies — pulled a Hillary Clinton.
“Donald Trump has no character. He doesn’t give a damn about the Latino community. … Just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage. … The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” Biden told NBC News Senior White House Correspondent Gabe Gutierrez.

Biden was taking a shot at Trump’s rally on Sunday at Madison Square Garden, at which insult comedian Tony Hinchcliffe joked about Puerto Rico’s very real trash problem.
“There’s a lot going on. Like, I don’t know if you know this, but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico,” the comedian said in an equal-opportunity dig. Hinchcliffe poked fun at everyone at the Trump rally, but the desperate left, the Harris campaign, and their public-relations operation inside corporate media have made the joke a political talking point tantamount to Trump’s mean tweets.
Biden’s garbage comment was reminiscent of failed Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s speech at a New York City fundraiser less than two months before the 2016 election. In that speech, she said half of Trump’s supporters belong in a “basket of deplorables.”
That didn’t work out so well for the former secretary of state and wife of a former Democrat president and reputed sex offender.
‘We Are Not Going Back’
And Harris’ rant about Trump as a threat to democracy was the tired, old monologue that Americans have heard from a campaign that only exists because Democrat Party elites pushed out doddering Biden in July and anointed Harris as the replacement candidate. So much for the 14 million voters who selected Biden as their nominee. So much for the “defenders of democracy.”
Harris delivered her faux unity speech in front of what the accomplice media was obliged to describe as a “massive crowd” at the Ellipse near the White House. The location was by design, so Harris could pretend to speak soberly at the location where nearly four years ago Trump addressed protesters before the Jan. 6, 2021, riots at the Capitol.
The vice president — between peppy campaign music, vibrant light shows, neon wrist bracelets adorned by attendees, and a generally festive atmosphere — tried and failed to set a somber tone. She wanted Americans to know that Donald Trump is all about sowing fear and division while she delivered a bitterly divisive campaign speech. While Harris interspersed her cackling catchphrases of joy and family, she spent most of the speech painting a fearful and dark picture of America’s future with Trump in the White House.
“It is a choice about whether we have a country rooted in freedom for every American or ruled by chaos and division,” Harris declared.
She again pounded the campaign talking point that Trump will target his political enemies if elected. That, too, has been a bold choice of messaging from a candidate who has dutifully served an administration that has persecuted and prosecuted its No. 1 political opponent and a long line of conservatives.
“The fact that someone disagrees with us does not make them the enemy within,” Harris preached. She should tell that to the many parents Biden’s Department of Justice sought to harass for objecting to far-left public school policies and instruction they disagreed with.
As the vice president again and again colored Trump as a tyrant and dictator in waiting, she insisted that it was “time to stop pointing fingers … and start locking arms.”
She said it was “time for a new generation of leadership in America.” For Americans who have slogged through pocketbook-breaking inflation, a border invasion, and general insecurity driven by the Biden-Harris leftist agenda and its accompanying failures of the past four years, the idea that Harris is the change candidate may be the biggest rhetorical hole the vice president ripped through reality during her “closing arguments.”
“We are not going back,” Harris declared, while asking Americans to return her to the White House, this time as president and leader of the free world.

13 Big Lies in Kamala Harris’ ‘Closing Argument’ in Washington!-Posed on Breitbart.com-By Joel B. Pollak-On October 29, 2024:
Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a long list of old lies in her “closing argument” speech in Washington, DC, on Tuesday night, defying fact-checkers and repeating false claims that had already been debunked during the campaign.

Here are the most egregious of Harris’s false claims:
- Then-President Donald Trump “sent an armed mob to the United States Capitol to overturn the will of the people.” Trump did not send a “mob”; he told his supporters to march “peacefully and patriotically” to the Capitol. Rioters were already there — but they were not “armed” with guns. Only five rioters were ultimately charged with firearms crimes — but they did not use their guns during the riot. Few were “armed” with anything. And many of the protesters believed they were protecting an election, not overturning one, according to a Harvard study.
- “He has an enemies list of people he intends to prosecute.” No such list exists, and Trump has pointed out that despite campaign rhetoric in 2016, he refrained from prosecuting his rival, Hillary Clinton, even though she had arguably broken the law with her misuse of classified information and destruction of government documents.
- “He says that one of his highest priorities is to set free the violent extremists who assaulted those law enforcement officers on January 6.” Trump has never said that he would pardon violent people, or extremists. He has said that he would pardon “many” of the rioters, on a case by case basis, implying that he would pardon non-violent offenders. Notably, Harris herself urged people to bail out rioters arrested during the 2020 riots.
- “Donald Trump intends to use the United States military against American citizens who simply disagree with him.” Trump has never said anything like that. What he said was that he would use “the National Guard, or if really necessary … the military” against “radical left lunatics” who tried to disrupt the election. This is actually a common position among both parties: Democrats deployed the military to protect the Capitol after the riot.
- “I will always tell you the truth.” That is never a good thing for a politician to say, and it is easily disproven. Harris lied to the country about President Joe Biden’s mental state; she also lied about the Charlottesville “very fine people” hoax in the 2024 presidential debate, after being fact-checked about the same claim on live television in the 2020 vice presidential debate. And, of course, she lied in this speech — in the many examples above, and below.
- Trump wants “tax cuts for billionaires and big corporations.” As Breitbart News has demonstrated in many repeated fact checks, the Trump tax cuts of 2017 primarily benefited the middle class, and actually imposed higher taxes on some wealthy households, especially in Democrat-run states. Trump did lower corporate taxes, but with the intent of encouraging companies to invest more at home than abroad, and to create jobs for Americans.
- “He will pay for it with a 20% national sales tax.” Trump has never proposed a “national sales tax” and would certainly oppose one. The term “national sales tax” is how Democrats describe Trump’s tariffs, which could — in theory — raise some prices. But Democrats aren’t opposed to tariffs; the Biden-Harris administration kept the Trump tariffs in place. And those tariffs did not raise prices significantly; inflation kicked in when Biden took office.
- “He tried to cut Medicare and Social Security every year.” This is a claim Breitbart News has fact-checked before — and so has NBC News, which said it “has merit, but it omits some key context.” His budget proposed some Social Security cuts but not Medicare benefit cuts. Ironically, as Breitbart noted, “the Biden-Harris administration has cut Medicare Advantage, which a majority of Medicare beneficiaries use over traditional Medicare.”
- “He would ban abortion nationwide.” Trump has rejected this idea at every opportunity, saying that he believes the issue is best handled by the states, which can choose whatever policy they want. That was the effect of overturning Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs decision. Some liberal states granted abortion until birth. Some conservative states banned it in most circumstances, but in no instance were these “Trump abortion bans,” as Harris claimed.
- Trump would “restrict access to birth control and to IVF.” Again, that is simply false. In fact, Trump has said that he would make government or private insurance policies pay for IVF, which is the opposite of restricting access. When Alabama’s highest court made a decision that resulted in many IVF providers refusing to provide the service, it was Trump who urged the state’s Republican legislature to convene to legalize IVF for hopeful parents.
- Trump “killed” a border security bill. This is another tired Biden-Harris talking point. The administration was well aware that it does not need a new law to enforce border security, but tried to blame Congress for not passing “comprehensive immigration reform.” When one Republican worked with Democrats on a “bipartisan” bill that would have legalized migration at current levels, the rest balked. They did not need Trump to tell them to oppose the idea.
- Trump called soldiers “suckers and losers.” This is an old hoax, cooked up by the left-wing Atlantic and refuted by many, many witnesses, including those (like former National Security Advisor John Bolton) who had broken with Trump politically. Ironically, again, it was Biden and Harris who failed to contact the families of the 13 Americans killed in the Afghanistan pullout, and Harris never apologized for smearing Border Patrol agents as racist.
- Trump “wants to put [people who disagree with him] in jail.” Ambulance sirens were heard at times during Harris’s speech, and they may well have been “irony alerts,” because it is the Biden-Harris Department of Justice that is still trying to put Trump in jail. Harris also spoke on the same day former Trump aide Stephen K. Bannon emerged from prison after serving four months for a contempt of Congress charge widely viewed as bogus.
Harris went on to describe Trump as a “wannabe dictator” and “petty tyrant” in a speech that was as negative as any she has made in the campaign. Her “closing argument” was little more than a partisan attack — and a dishonest one.

President Joe Biden trashed Trump supporters as “garbage” in a rant on Tuesday evening that sparked outrage and sent Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign into damage control mode.
But they were no surprise: not only has he often used violent language toward Trump — he suggested drowning the former president earlier on Tuesday — but Biden has also trashed millions of Trump supporters, to the media’s and the Democrats’ cheers.
This time, finally, it had a cost.

In June 2020, then-candidate Biden told an online town hall moderated by actor Don Cheadle that “There are probably anywhere from 10 to 15 percent of the people out there that are just not very good people.” Given a population of roughly 350 million Americans, Biden was condemning as many as 50 million of his countrymen.
That would amount to two-thirds of the 74 million Americans who voted for Trump in the 2020 presidential election.
Biden reiterated his views as president. In his infamous “Dark Brandon” speech in Philadelphia in 2022, Biden condemned what he called the “MAGA Republicans.” He claimed that they were not the majority of Republicans, but went on to trash them: “MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people.” He called them a “clear and present danger” to the rest of the nation.
Two years later, with half of America lining up behind the movement to Make America Great Again, it is clear that the vast majority of Republicans are, in fact, “MAGA Republicans,” at least for now.

As the Madison Square Garden rally showed — despite the “Nazi” smears — they are also ordinary people, from every walk of life, who love their country, as diverse as New York City.
Biden has never seen that. He said what he meant, and what many Democrats believe.
