Erdogan's Warning to the US

{ frontpagemag.com } ~ Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the autocratic Islamist president of Turkey, wrote an op-ed article published on Monday by the New York Times... entitled “Turkey’s View of the Crisis With the U.S.” He complained that the United States does not respect “Turkey’s sovereignty” and “Turkish democracy.” He warned that failure to reverse the “trend” of “unilateral actions against Turkey by the United States” will require Turkey “to start looking for new friends and allies.” The fact is, however, that under Erdogan’s leadership, Turkey had already embarked on its own trend away from being a reliable NATO member and friend of the United States well before its recent disputes with the Trump administration. Erdogan’s bill of particulars against U.S. policy set forth in his op-ed column included American support for Kurdish forces in Syria. Although the Syrian Kurds have been fighting effectively against ISIS, Erdogan treats them as terrorists more dangerous than ISIS because they are allied with the Kurds in Turkey seeking autonomy. Erdogan objected to what he considered the U.S.’s failure to adequately condemn the failed coup attempt against Erdogan’s government in 2016. He complained about the U.S.’s rejection of Turkey’s requests to turn over the presumed ring-leader of the coup attempt, Fethullah Gulen, who currently resides in Pennsylvania. Finally, Erdogan expressed defiance over the recent sanctions imposed by the Trump administration in response to the Turkish government’s refusal to free Pastor Andrew Brunson, a U.S. citizen. Erdogan’s complaints are meritless and his warnings are hollow. He has become a tin pot dictator who turned Turkey away from its secular republic institutions towards becoming an Islamist state molded in his image of a revived neo-Ottoman empire...

Defense rests in Paul Manafort case

Before Manafort's lawyers announced they would rest their case, the federal courtroom was sealed off from the public for nearly two hours before reopening around 11:30 a.m, but the reason was not disclosed. Trump Is Not the Reason

the GOP Sputtered in Ohio

{ townhall.com } ~ Last week, Republican Troy Balderson struggled to beat dummycrats-Democrat Danny O'Connor in a House special election in suburban Columbus -- an Ohio district the GOP has held for decades and President Trump won by 11 percentage points two years ago. The race -- still too close to call with a margin of 1,564 votes -- won't be declared until Aug. 24, when all the absentee ballots have been counted.

In March, Republican Rick Saccone lost a special election to dummycrats-Democrat Conor Lamb in Pennsylvania, another district that voted solidly for Trump.

Both Ohio and Pennsylvania represent the new coalition of Trump voters: Rust Belt states that were expected to swing blue in 2016 but in fact went for the unorthodox billionaire who promised to "Make America Great Again."

So why, two years later, is the GOP having so much trouble connecting with these people? Is it Trump? The party establishment?

Ohio Gov. John Kasich said Balderson's weak showing was a referendum on the president. "Voters here sent a message to the Republicans to knock it off," Kasich told CBS News last week. "Stop the chaos, the division, no more of this family separation that we see at the border or taking people's health care away. I think that have -- basically have had enough and they're sending a message to the Republicans, including the Republican in the White House. ... This district is so Republican, there should never even have been an election here. And it was so close and -- in one of the counties that's so solidly Republican -- where a Republican would normally win by 70 percent, it broke basically 50-50."

But Kasich, who hasn't yet ruled out a run for president in 2020, has got the wrong end of the stick. The GOP's problem isn't its president. The problem is its message.

Trump is the sun around which the solar system of American politics operates. You can't outshine him.

And his base is solid. An August survey of validated Trump voters conducted by the Pew American Trends Panel showed that a vast majority of those who supported him in 2016 still hold fond feelings for him and his presidency.

The survey said that 82 percent of those who voted for Trump said they still felt "warmly" toward him as of March, with 62 percent saying they had "very warm" feelings toward him.

dummycrats-Democratic candidates arguably have an easier sell in that they can freely oppose Trump to rally their base.

Republicans, meanwhile, can't just be pro-Trump. They need to thread the needle, reach out to people from educated and upscale suburbs who are possibly put off by the president's rhetoric while continuing to embrace his new populist coalition of blue-collar and non-regular GOP voters. But Dave Myhal, an Ohio-based Republican strategist who lives in Columbus, says bringing together regular Republicans and the irregular populist voter shouldn't be that complicated.

The key isn't national issues. It's local ones.

Infrastructure projects, like bridges and roads and sewer systems, are important to everyone. Addressing how to keep young people in the area appeals to both suburban and rural parents. So does the issue of creating jobs or expanding broadband for rural kids who want to work in farming or manufacturing or small businesses.

"That my party didn't learn how to reach their voters from the Conor Lamb defeat and continued the same practices kind of proves they still don't get it," said Myhal. He says both Saccone and Balderson should have stolen "a page out of Danny O'Connor and Conor Lamb's playbook and run on local issues -- both men did a really good job of doing that."

John Lapp, a Washington-based dummycrats-Democratic strategist, agrees. "For Republicans to have to spend over $4 million to hold a ruby-red House district certainly is a harbinger for their challenge to appeal to voters this fall," he said.

House special elections don't usually predict a party's fate in the midterms. The dummycrats-Democrats lost all their special elections leading up to the 2006 midterms only to flip the House by 30 seats; four years later, the Republicans lost all their special elections going into the 2010 midterms and went on to trounce the dummycrats-Democrats by winning back 63 seats.

"People make way too much out of special elections. It's kind of like preseason football -- it's a good way to work out the kinks of an organization -- but has nothing to do with the regular season," said Lapp. But it's a crucial time to start learning some very important lessons before the 2018 midterms.

Keeping it local is the way you bring the regular Republican suburban voter and the new Trump voter together. It keeps the electorate on the same page and the candidates' message laser-focused, said Myhal.

"It is their common denominator," he said.

To identify with your voters is to be present with your voters. Every Republican House candidate running should be on the ground in their district, discussing local issues and refusing national cookie-cutter ads made by people who have never set foot on their Main Street.

Whether it's the suburban mom or the blue-collar worker, voters will be willing to listen and connect with a candidate who makes them feel part of their community -- and part of something bigger than themselves.

That's why Trump won in 2016 and forged his coalition in the first place.

The move, according to the Israeli diplomats, was similar to the successful effort to have South Africa suspended from the UN during Apartheid. The Palestinians argued that Israel's new Nation-State Law, which enshrines its identity as the "Jewish state," had made it no better than the former South African regime. In fact, the scheme was doomed to failure. In addition to needing a two-thirds majority in the General Assembly which they could possibly achieve, the Palestinians also needed the backing of all five permanent members of the Security Council, including the United States. For most, it goes without saying that such a proposal would be vetoed by US President Donald Trump before the Palestinian representative delivering it could even get half-way across the room...

That a great democracy's election systems would still be vulnerable to foul play four election cycles after a meltdown is proof that a fraud-free, error-free, tamper-proof election system is something America's political class just doesn't want us to have. It's scandalous that our election systems are still vulnerable. It should be well nigh impossible to interfere with America's elections. It's disappointing that America's tech gurus haven't come up with systems that secure our elections from tampering and fraud. You'd think they'd be competing with each other to be the first to come up with the most elegant solution. Sad! By pushing for laws that require proof of citizenship to register to vote, Kansas secretary of state Kris Kobach has long been the whipping boy of the political left. One of the candidates who ran on August 7 to replace Kobach is Dennis Taylor. Mr. Taylor had an interesting guest column on July 23 in the Kansas City Star headlined "Three easy steps to securing our election results in Kansas."  Taylor's three easy steps don't deserve much comment. His first step is, "Audit, post-election, the eligibility of voters." Shouldn't eligibility be vetted beforehand, when one registers or when one votes? The second step is, "Back up all votes cast in Kansas with verified paper ballots." Why, so we can have recounts? And his last step: "Constantly verify system security, comprehensively and proactively, to ensure protection of online voter registration data." The Real Reasons Peter Strzok was Fired from the FBI

But, what could have led FBI Deputy Director David Bowdich, to make the decision to overrule OPR? Why didn’t FBI Director Christopher Wray take charge and fire Strzok himself? And more importantly, why would OPR recommend Strzok–who was charged with handling the investigation into alleged collusion between President Trump’s campaign and Russia–only receive a 60-day suspension and demotion? More hot water for No. 2 dummycrats-Dem leader

And now, the No. 2 ranking official of the dummycrats-Democratic National Committee, Rep. scumbag-Keith Ellison, R-Minn., is facing accusations of physically abusing an ex-girlfriend as the party tries to take back the House and Senate in November’s mid-term elections. He’s also a candidate for the state post of attorney general.

The latest allegations surfaced Saturday night from Karen Monahan after her son posted in Facebook that he had seen text messages from scumbag-Ellison threatening his mother with video of the co-chairman of the dummycrats-DNC screaming obscenities at her as he dragged her off to bed by her feet, the Associated Press reported.

“You know you did that to me,” said Monahan.

scumbag-Ellison responded with a brief statement: “I never behaved in this way.”

“My brother and I watched our mom come out of pure hell after getting out of her relationship with scumbag-Keith Ellison,” 25-year-old Austin Monahan said.

Karen Monahan said that what her son posted was the truth.

“What my son said is true,” she posted. “Every statement he made was true.@scumbag-keithellison, you know you did that to me. I have given every opportunity to get help and heal. Even now, u r willing to say my son is lying and have me continue to leak more text and info just so others will believe him.”

scumbag-Ellison insists the video does not exist.

The allegations come days before dummycrats-Democratic voters choose between scumbag-Ellison and other candidates in a Tuesday primary for attorney general.

Earlier on Sunday, scumbag-Ellison’s rivals in the race for attorney general demanded that he respond to the allegations, WCCO-TV reported.

Matt Pelikan and former Minnesota House Speaker Debra Hilstrom called the allegations troubling. Another candidate in the race, former Ramsey County Attorney Tom Foley, said the allegations were serious.

“If there are records and video of his interaction with the victim, those materials also should be turned over to law enforcement for immediate investigation,” he said.

State’s reward for information leading to their “location, arrest, or conviction” has now been doubled — from $5 million to $10 million. The US first indicted the pair in Nov. 1998, after they were implicated in the American embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania several months earlier. Those attacks were al Qaeda’s most devastating prior to 9/11, killing 224 civilians and wounding thousands of others. After 9/11, the two fled to Iran, where their status has been murky at times. The State Department did not offer any information concerning their current activities, nor did Foggy Bottom explain why its reward offer was increased now. But according to an al Qaeda operative in Syria, the two al Qaeda managers were operating inside Iran as of last year. They were even reportedly acting as Ayman al Zawahiri’s chief deputies while living on Iranian soil. In that role, they were asked to weigh in on a fierce disagreement between jihadists in Syria...

Why We Should Oppose Andrew Cuomo 

by Harold Hutchison:  The latest shots in Andrew Cuomo’s war against the National Rifle Association haven’t received much media coverage. But they should be something Americans follow because the Cuomo playbook, if allowed to succeed, will have devastating consequences for the country.

             According to the latest filings from the NRA in its legal action against Cuomo over his weaponization of bank and insurance regulations against the nation’s oldest civil rights group, his blacklisting campaign would “deprive the NRA of basic bank-depository services, corporate insurance coverage, and other financial services essential to the NRA’s corporate existence and its advocacy mission.”
               To put it bluntly, if the NRA is denied access to banking institutions or insurance coverage (whether for events like its Annual Meetings, health insurance for the employees, or even liability coverage), the NRA can’t effectively defend the Second Amendment. It may be unable to take in donations and membership dues, leaving it unable to pay the bills that result from the unfortunate need to defend the Second Amendment against people like Cuomo. That’s precisely the outcome Cuomo wants.
               Cuomo, though, has been defiant in the face of the lawsuit, even though the head of the First Amendment Coalition noted the NRA’s claims are plausible. In recent media appearances, Cuomo has labeled the NRA an extremist group that has “caused carnage” though its opposition to gun-control laws. He called the NRA “the bad guys.” Here’s the problem with Cuomo’s argument — it’s just not true. The blame for shootings and violent crimes lies not with those who didn’t go along with Cuomo’s legislative agenda but with the perpetrators of the crimes.
               The NRA’s actual non-culpability for those malicious shootings aside, the First Amendment protects the right of Americans to speak out against gun-control laws (or on any other issue), to assemble (and to create associations to magnify their voice), and to petition for redress of grievances (including to urge the passage or defeat of legislation). All of which the NRA has done on behalf of its five million members. The fact that many self-proclaimed defenders of the First Amendment are silent in the face of this is appalling.
               In 2014, Cuomo was widely condemned when he declared that pro-life and Second Amendment advocates were among those “not welcome in New York.” Now, he’s acting on that animosity. It seems as if he realizes that he has largely lost the debate on Second Amendment issues, his SAFE Act notwithstanding. In 1999, Cuomo similarly came under fire for his attempts to use civil lawsuits to enact gun control rejected by Congress and state legislatures in the wake of the Columbine massacre.
               Gun-control supporters are moving to silence supporters of the Second Amendment. They’re also carrying out a more ruthless version of Operation Choke Point, with banks demanding that companies discriminating against gun-makers or FFLs who don’t voluntarily relinquish the right to sell legal firearms or related products.
               Cuomo isn’t the only one. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) says he has a list of sites or media outlets he wants banned. We assume there’s an element of “or else” to Murphy’s demand. They may succeed, and thus harm law-abiding citizens, but for dummycrats-Democrats, winning gun control through government abuse is likely to backfire.
               Indeed, the silver lining in the cloud is that this pattern of abuse, combined with the IRS scandal and other government malfeasance, will only convince many more Americans that a tyrannical government is possible, especially if people like Cuomo and Murphy are in charge. Perhaps that will rally voters to stand for Liberty.

The Death Penalty and Catholicism 

by Robin Smith:  On Aug. 2, 2018, the Catholic Church’s Pope Francis declared to the world that the death penalty is never an appropriate punishment. On the same day, the largest Roman Catholic dioceses in Pennsylvania published a list of 71 priests, deacons, and seminarians accused of “substantiated” sexual abuse over the last 70 years.

             It’s an interesting contrast to discuss the age-old debate about capital punishment for the most heinous crimes while we await evidence of abominable crimes alleged to have been committed within the Catholic Church. While we do, let’s cheer on the justice system to bring every true sexual predator to face a swift trial and punishment, whether in the Church or wherever.
               In the meantime, what about that death penalty? Is it ever fitting? Have crimes become more or less evil or monstrous? Do we expect our governments to address the most atrocious of crimes as a justice system, a legal system, or an institution that appears to selectively apply morality? Acknowledging the moral and religious aspects of this debate, why is the partisan divide over the death penalty growing, with an 18-point increase from 2000 to 2016, according to Gallup? And why does it appear that there’s greater offense to capital punishment for criminals as opposed to other loss of innocent life?
               In America, there are 41 capital crimes — criminal acts punishable by death. Understanding that the taking innocent life is deemed murder, the taking of a life in self-defense has not been considered or punished as murder either in religious teachings or in civil governments. As restitution and justice, society has established that an especially atrocious act of murder may be punished through death precisely because life is so precious, and that the riddance of such evil provides a good.
               Regardless of political stripes, those who adhere to the Christian faith see that God, our Creator, who states in the writings of Paul that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23), did provide a way, a Redeemer, to pay the required debt of sin. That debt is paid for those who take the Name and ways of Jesus Christ through the confession of sin and the repentance, or turning away from, the same. But, problematically, dummycrats-Democrats and the political Left demand that the state and Church never intersect — or, put another way, that the church not encroach on the state’s province. The blame for this falls on their out-of-context use of Thomas Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptists that agreed that a state-sponsored church should be prohibited instead of their misuse to discourage the free exercise of religion. dummycrats-Democrats literally voted God out of their party platform in 2012, but in the case of capital punishment cite the precious nature of life and the power of redemption. Yes, this is the same group who also demand abortion as an essential element of women’s health, viewing an unborn child as a clump of cells, not a life.
               So why would the amoral state spare the life of a convicted criminal sentenced to death, especially in the day of DNA evidence, videographic and technological advances to provide more than circumstantial evidence and the incredibly high bar a death penalty case must reach for execution?
               Even Christ Himself, hanging on the cross on Golgotha’s hill between two criminals sentenced to death promised them eternal life in heaven if they believed. He did not offer a bargain of escape from punishment deemed appropriate by the government for the crimes they had committed.
               To punctuate the magnitude and seriousness of our sin, iniquities, and transgressions, the sinless Son of Man hung on a criminal’s cross in public humiliation to die and pay the penalty of sin for all of Creation. In other words, while there’s redemption and reform available, justice is demanded. And, here are some thoughts that are a bit uncomfortable when citing the Bible, a Holy Father God, and His Son Jesus: The very nature of God in His righteousness demands and guarantees justice, and that very same nature of a Holy God provides mercy and grace as a gift to be received. All of the teachings of God and Christ are to the individual, not governments. While governments can show mercy, the role of a government is to provide structure, order, and authority — see Romans 13.
               In both the religious and civil aspects of society, unlawful behavior carries a penalty. In the first five books of the Bible, the penalty for murder is mentioned and clear: death. Furthermore, the specifics of Genesis 9 to Noah and his family were to reestablish civility after the Great Flood included God’s demand of an accounting for the life of another human being stating, “Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind.”
               From 1976 through July 2018, there have been 1,479 executions for capital crimes in the U.S. Already this year, there have been over 500,000 abortions in America with a report of child abuse made, on average, every 10 seconds. Now, which life do we celebrate?

New York’s Latest Voter Registration Drive Is Simply Criminal

City officials will pick up voter-registration paperwork and absentee ballots straight from the facility for those who have been incarcerated but have not yet been convicted of a felony. It has been estimated that 75% 6,000 of a prison population of roughly 8,000 of the inmates on Rikers are eligible to vote, thanks to this new initiative because they have not yet been convicted for their crimes or remain in jail because they can not afford bail. Tensions Flare in U.S.-Canada Border Dispute Over Island

That area has received significant attention in the past few months, as thousands of asylum seekers from Latin America have poured toward U.S. soil. Surprisingly, however, tensions are also flaring along the U.S.-Canada border, but the issue doesn’t involve illegal immigration. A small, nearly uninhabited island off the coast of Maine has become the site of a minor standoff between the two countries, and it appears to be escalating. “Machias Seal Island is a 20-acre, treeless island teeming with puffins, razorbills, terns, eiders and other seabirds, making it a prime destination for birdwatchers,” reported The Washington Post. Here’s the big problem: “Canada and the United States both claim sovereignty over the island,” the newspaper continued. Why do two major nations care about an almost desolate island? The answer is fishing grounds.                 Next November, Americans can either vote for preserving our founding principles or abet the continuing cultural degradation, promoted as “social justice,” that energizes the American Left. These leftists increasingly embrace outbursts of violence and intimidation they and their increasingly corrupt media allies legitimize by calling it “The Resistance.”
               Anarchy is more like it. Leftist thugs rioted in three American cities in recent days. On Aug. 3 in Providence, Rhode Island, a conservative group calling itself “Resist Marxism” staged a “Providence Freedom Rally” at the Rhode Island State House. It was met by leftist thugs who assaulted the attendees, damaged their equipment, and prevented Rhode Island congressional candidate Daniel Guilmette from speaking.
               On Aug. 4 in Portland, Oregon, hundreds of “alt-right” protesters were attacked by antifa counter protesters throwing rocks and bottles. Four days later, left-wing thugs protesting police brutality at that rally stormed Portland City Hall, assaulting one security guard and fighting with several others.
               On Aug 5 in Berkeley, California, antifa thugs smashed the windows of a Marine Corps recruiting post, damaged 21 city vehicles, tossed explosives at Berkeley Police and Alameda County Sheriff’s Office officers, and clashed with alt-right protesters. Twenty arrests were made and dozens of weapons were confiscated.
               These leftist groups invariably justify their violence with the same assertion: Those who engage in “hate speech” must be silenced, even if it requires breaking the law to do so.
               Thus on Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia, and yesterday in Washington, DC, police maintained a heavy presence to prevent a similar outbreak of violence that occurred in Charlottesville last year. Violence the ACLU says was abided by police ordered to “not intervene until given command to do so.”
               Law enforcement officials’ seeming disinterest in protecting the “wrong” Americans, or allowing the “right” ones to riot, hasn’t been confined to Charlottesville. Police backed off during a 2017 antifa protest in Berkeley, and the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco is allowing a lawsuit to proceed against the San Jose Police Department and the city for allegedly endangering the lives of Trump supporters at a 2016 rally at the McEnery Convention Center. Despite several exits being available, police allegedly directed rally attendees to leave from a single exit where anti-Trump thugs were waiting. And despite Trump supporters being beaten or struck by objects, no one was arrested except three people who assaulted the police.
               All of these incidents pale in comparison to the  machinations of Portland dummycrats-Democrat Mayor Ted Wheeler. For 38 days, a mob was allowed to maintain a makeshift camp from which they emerged to lead protests against ICE and demand the agency’s abolition. Signs were displayed calling ICE employees “Nazis” and “white supremacists.” Vandals wrote the names of staffers on a wall and encouraged others to publish agents’ private info online. One staffer was followed when he went to pick up his daughter, and protesters showed up at his home. Both ICE officials and area locals were harassed, including a 53-year-old disabled resident whose wheelchair was damaged.
               Wheeler’s response? “I do not want the @PortlandPolice to be engaged or sucked into a conflict, particularly from a federal agency that I believe is on the wrong track,” tweeted the mayor, who conveniently doubles as the city’s police commissioner. “If [ICE is] looking for a bailout from this mayor, they are looking in the wrong place.”
               Even when federal police mobilized from out of state moved to reopen the office on June 28, Wheeler remained defiant. “I join those outraged by ICE actions separating parents from their children, and support peaceful protest to give voice to our collective moral conscience,” he asserted in a statement.
               Collective moral conscience? Try government-endorsed thuggery.
               One might think such overt lawlessness would elicit a response by the Department of Justice. Unfortunately, the DOJ is headed by a seemingly comatose Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Thus, as the Left moves seamlessly from law-defying sanctuary cities to consequence-free actions against ICE employees — employees whose 911 calls were deliberately ignored — one is left to conclude similar incidents will be forthcoming.
               And while the nation waits, the “get in their faces”  exhortations of a reliably unhinged Rep. scumbag/mad-Maxine Waters (D-CA) remain the order of the day. On Aug. 6 in Philadelphia, conservatives Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens were harassed by the self-designated “Philly Antifa” while they were attempting to eat breakfast. Despite Owens being a black American, the mob chanted “f—k white supremacy,” and video shows one protester dumping a bottle of water on Kirk, an assault the group justified in a tweet. “Charlie Kirk’s disgusting homophobic, racist, bigoted presence is met by some proper Philadelphia hostility,” it stated.
               Owens and Kirk declined to press charges. That’s a mistake. Those who foment anarchy must be fully held to account, or they will do it again.
               Why has violence directed against conservatives and pro-Trump supporters become acceptable? Ignorance, arrogance, and spinelessness. Nothing speaks to ignorance better than a video of Ivy League students who, at best could only name one or two of the First Amendment’s five guaranteed freedoms — and at worst remain convinced that “offensive” speech can be banned.
               Nothing speaks to arrogance better than the New York Times’ recent hire of overt racist and cop-basher Sarah Jeong, best described by columnist Heather Mac Donald as “an entirely typical product of the contemporary academy,” where students are “inundated by the message that they are either the bearers of white privilege or its victims” as soon as they arrive.
               The Times has made it clear it buys into the contemptible leftist assertion that only whites can be racist because they control the levers of power. “Deplorable” Americans, whose “privilege” consists of working hard every day to make ends meet, might disagree.
               Which brings us to spinelessness. Americans need to ask themselves why a “blue wave” might even be a possibility  when 54% of dummycrats-Democrats support giving illegal aliens the right to vote, party leaders have called for abolishing ICE, and dummycrats-Democrat officials openly embrace socialism and tacitly embrace anti-Semitism.
               In other words, where is the GOP? One gets the disquieting sense Republicans are either rank cynics who believe being the lesser of two really odious evils is good enough to maintain their congressional majority absent an all-out effort to do so, or insufferable hypocrites willing to lose that majority as a “reasonable” trade-off for reinstating the status quo upended by Trump’s America First agenda. And if GOP losses in November enable an impeachment-addicted Democrat Party to upend Trump’s presidency as well?
               You have to break a few nationalist, patriotic eggs to remake a globalist, Ruling Class omelette.

Following the four-part piece, expanded short articles on each bullet point will continue into November. Exposing Pelosi, Waters, Schumer, and the other leftist leaders of the now Marxist Party is essential in enlightening voters of exactly where the Democrat Party stands. When illuminated in the glaring light of truth, one can only hope long-time Democrats will see the anti-American, hate-filled version of the new party for what it really is; and adjust their votes accordingly.

• Income Redistribution and Barack Obama: Barack Obama laid out his Marxist ideas early on when he said he wanted to spread the wealth around. Accomplishing this goal is largely about convincing the populace of the great unfairness and inadequacies of free enterprise and capitalism. To achieve this, Democrats must create friction between classes, races, genders, and anywhere they can preach victimhood. When people perceive themselves as long-suffering victims, they are easy targets of the unethical, immoral, and oppressive Marxist Democrats. Obama’s social justice plan simply meant tax, spend, and redistribute wealth.

The Democrat Party saw Obama’s election as a mandate to double down on fundamentally changing America into a Marxist state. For the past ten years, socialists, Marxists, and communists have overtly, and with great passion, proclaimed their hatred for America, the Constitution, culture, religion, economic system, and the entire white race. Obama led Democrats from the shadows into proudly proclaiming their allegiance to a despotic revolution. 

• Free Speech: Democrats fight an unending war against free speech and legislate what they call hate speech. Self-defining hate speech automatically allows liberals to control any narrative and determine what is or is not acceptable speech according to their whims. Academia, once the bastion for free speech, transformed higher education and ceded power to violent fascists that transfigured campuses into rioting, firebombing terror zones. America is a free speech zone, nevertheless, colleges and universities arrogantly and illegally, set up confines of free speech zones. Additionally, these fascists use political correctness as a weapon to enforce tyranny and prohibit free speech.

No group in America exhibits more hate-filled; spewing of poisonous vitriol than Democrats. Nonetheless, academics attack and ban conservative speech. Liberals bluster, attack, and lie to hide the fact they have no ideas; only ideology, and talking points. Consequently, they realize that allowing constitutional ideas to germinate and conservative speech to grow, is hazardous to Democrat ideology.       

• Religion: The constitutional right to freely exercise one’s religion is under attack by every leftwing group. Not only buoyed by establishment bias, but actively working against religious groups and individuals, the Democrat Party represents a clear and present danger to religious freedom. These are the tyrants who booed God at their convention.

• Education: Leftists, mostly Democrats, have turned the world's best public education system into a shameful disaster. They destroyed the classic public education system and then hammered Marxist/progressive ideology and propaganda into young, impressionable minds. Social engineering, social justice, multi-culturalism, diversity, and inclusiveness, are bitter toxins the left employs to destroy the mind, heart and spirit of America's youth. Simply stated, children receive the best indoctrination money can buy. Sadly, we encounter the finished product of this brainwashing in every sector of society and institution in the nation.

Unconstitutional interference by the government and a tyrannical grip on education by teacher unions, are the two principal causes for the collapse of the system. Because bad teachers are next to impossible to remove, exceptional teachers must now follow scripted programs mandated by faceless, leftwing government bureaucrats. Adding to the governing body’s idiocy, educators must tolerate stifling union rules, and endure constant interruptions in their classrooms.  Obviously, even the best teachers find it an overwhelming challenge, providing young people with a classical education.  

• Constitution: Marxists Barack Obama and Democrats believe, “The Constitution is a charter of negative liberties,” and a living, breathing, document that should change with the times. That view leads to continuous and deliberate challenging of the Constitution’s meaning by progressive judges, the media, and voters determined to undermine and weaken the entire foundation of the Constitution. Extreme leftist judges at every level of the Judiciary have, over the last few decades, tailored new laws from Marxist cloth, and ignored the words and intent of our Constitution. Nothing in this founding document guarantees outcome and success.  Opportunity is never enough for the left because success without government is liberty; something to which Marxists do not subscribe.    

Democrats have literally lost their minds over the prospect that the days might be numbered when they can depend on the courts to legislate leftwing ideology with the striking of a gavel. President Trump’s Supreme Court nominees believe in the Constitution and law. Additionally, with the replacement by the President of hundred of federal court judges, Democrats cannot conceive living in an America with this kind of freedom from government. They call allowing citizens to make their own decisions, tyranny.

• Energy and Environment: Climate change is a scam of monumental proportions concocted by anti-American globalists and Democrats. The intent is taxing American energy use and spreading our wealth to despots around the globe. A few decades ago these same conmen warned of a coming ice age, then came global warming, and finally as their sizzling lies melted, their swindle morphed into climate change. When the fallacy of the fraud is pointed out, the louder, and more forceful the schemers lie.

Democrats abhor carbon-based anything, and stand against drilling for and transporting oil. Nuclear energy drives them out of their mind, and they want everything powered by unaffordable solar. 

“Cap and Trade” became the buzzword, when Obama said, “Under my plan of a ‘cap-and-trade’ system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.” 

• Punishing success and rewarding failure: Marxist Democrats are infamous for punishing industrious Americans for their success and rewarding slothful, unmotivated parasites for failure. Rewarding failure is one of the Democrat party’s legs of support, and extends to the government rewarding corrupt, incompetent bureaucracies.

• Anti-cop: Anti-American, Barack Obama demeaned police at every opportunity. Obama was, by every account, a racist who screamed racism anytime police did their job of arresting black criminals. He believed descendents of slavery should not be punished for crimes. Ironically, innocent blacks were the primary victims of criminals protected by Obama’s umbrella of bigotry.  

• Anti Military: Bill Clinton was no friend of the Military, but traitor Obama cut spending to the point of weakening our Military to pre WWII levels. Never in American history, had a President and political party declared war on the police and the Military. A weak nation is a vulnerable nation, and Obama and his Democrats placed America in an indefensible world position and perilous situation at home. He showed a blatant disregard for law and order and stated openly he wanted to weaken the U.S. on the world stage.

• Taxes: Democrats are always aligned against tax cuts, and never saw a tax increase they didn’t like. Collecting more of our money to buy votes from moochers is an all-consuming activity for Marxists. All-the-while, they hold traditional Middle American taxpayers and voters in contempt when they resist the government’s thieving hand in their pockets.

• Anti-Capitalism: The Democrat Party has engaged in a decades-long war against capitalism, and works tirelessly to bring every business and citizen under federal control. Government-run schools teach children that capitalism is evil, and government is there to care for them. Higher education amplifies the indoctrination against the most successful economic system devised by man. Marxist professors rail against capitalism because it allows the freedom of choice by citizens and consistently empowers the country to lead the world in productivity, prosperity, ease of living, and financial wealth for its inhabitants.

Guilty to Producing Child Pornography

{ justice.gov } ~ An Alexandria man pleaded guilty today to production of child pornography... According to court documents, over at least a two year period, Skydance MacMahon, 44, conspired with an adult in Canada to produce over a thousand sexually explicit images and videos of minor children in Canada. These images and videos were produced at the direction of MacMahon using Skype and hidden cameras. MacMahon distributed these image and video files to other users and consumers of child pornography by providing access to the files on his cloud storage services and also by directly sending the files to other users. In addition to the child pornography images and videos MacMahon himself created, he also received and possessed thousands of images and videos of child pornography. During the time he committed these offenses, MacMahon was a Digital Media Administrator at the Foreign Services Institute of the U.S. Department of State in Arlington. MacMahon pleaded guilty to conspiring to produce child pornography and producing child pornography. He faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years and a maximum penalty of 60 years in prison when sentenced on October 12. Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors...

Social Media Hive Mind Eliminates Jones 

by Nate Jackson:  The social media censors were at it again last week. Facebook deleted four pages operated by provocateur Alex Jones, while Apple, YouTube, Vimeo, and Spotify all scrubbed the Infowars host’s content. Why the sudden crackdown and why this particular target?

             Right up front, we’ll say that Jones falls into the category of what we call 10% substance and 90% fragrance. His conspiracy theories are as legendary as they are loony, and some are downright offensive (like his accusing Sandy Hook victims of being “crisis actors”). He occasionally starts with legitimate stories or concerns, but he often blows them so far out of proportion that they become falsehood. Other times, his rantings are so phony they don’t deserve the time of day. His own lawyer described him as “a performance artist” who’s “playing a character.” That’s his bread and butter.
               But that wasn’t the reason social media thought police gave for their censorship; rather, each platform categorized Jones’s content as “hate speech.” That made for an interesting setup to the hype about the so-called — and grossly misnamed — “alt-right” rallies over the weekend. After all, Jones’s listeners tend to fall on the conservative end of the political spectrum, which Big Tech and the Leftmedia are incessantly endeavoring to cast as uniformly racist bigots. Working in concert, the Leftmedia can now cite as “evidence” the censorship of their allies in Silicon Valley.
               We aren’t arguing that private companies can’t set rules for use of their systems. The First Amendment does not force companies into subserviently providing a platform for any speech. But the tech giants have engaged in a documented pattern of suppressing conservative speech, and they’re using leftist smear machines like the Southern Poverty Law Center to justify it. “Hate speech” = anything leftists don’t like.
               Meanwhile, elected dummycrats-Democrats are cheering them on. “These companies must do more than take down one website,” declared Sen. Chris Murphy (C-CT). “The survival of our democracy depends on it.” Using the government’s power to curtail speech — even advocating it as Murphy does — crosses the First Amendment line. If no one speaks up for Jones, when will they speak up? Or will they be able to?
               Finally, an irony: By literally conspiring to suppress Jones’s speech, these tech giants are bolstering his conspiracy-theory brand and rallying his followers even more to his flag. Or maybe Jones conspired with social media to achieve just that result, and they’re all having a grand laugh.

Flight data recorder, human remains found

The FBI recovered the cockpit voice recorder from aircraft N449QX and the National Transportation Security Board is processing the data. The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office is in possession of the remains. The plane was located and was considered “highly fragmented.” “The wings are off, the fuselage is, I think, kind of positioned upside down,” Debra Eckrote, the Western Pacific regional chief for the National Transportation Safety Board, said. FBI fires Peter Strzok, months after anti-Trump texts revealed

MSM Makes Mountain Out of White Nationalist Molehill 

by Thomas Gallatin:  Leading up to the nothingburger of a white supremacist rally that saw less than two dozen white nationalists show up in Washington, DC, on Sunday, the mainstream media sought to inflate the significance of the event in an attempt to further its long-running “Donald Trump is a racist” narrative. Prior to the event, which was intentionally scheduled to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the Charlottesville riot, Trump issued a statement condemning all racism: “The riots in Charlottesville a year ago resulted in senseless death and division. We must come together as a nation. I condemn all types of racism and acts of violence. Peace to ALL Americans!” That wasn’t good enough for the Leftmedia, which stoked division anyway.

             Also showing up for the poorly named “Unite the Right II” rally — poorly named because it serves the MSM’s conflation of white racism with conservatism — were thousands of counterprotesters who stood shouting down both the white supremacists and Trump. The leftist, violence-seeking agitators known as antifa also showed up clearly prepared for a fight. They screamed chants such as, “Any time, any place, punch a Nazi in the face.” Fortunately, the strong police presence combined with the minuscule size of the white-nationalist contingent proved to thwart their efforts.
               Meanwhile in Charlottesville, hundreds of leftist activists took to the streets to ostensibly protest white nationalism and racism — a protest in which no white supremacists were given permission to rally and none showed up. It became increasingly apparent that protesting the police was also on the menu, as numerous protesters chanted, “Cops and Klan go hand in hand,” while others toted a banner that read, “Behind Every Cop, A Klansman.” The irony was that unlike last year, when police presence was severely limited and much fighting was allowed to occur unchecked, the police presence this year was heavy and clearly aimed at preventing any violence.
               If anything, this past weekend demonstrates just how vacuous is the MSM’s assertion of Trump’s presidency being responsible for stoking latent masses of white racists. The identity politics of promoting and provoking racial grievances is embraced by dummycrats-Democrats and the Left. It is clearly not popular with conservatives and the vast majority of Trump supporters, no matter how much the Leftmedia claims otherwise.

Is Wrong for America

{ townhall.com } ~ Many dummycrats-Democrats running for state and national elections in November are running on a dummycrats-Democratic Socialism platform. These candidates are following the model pushed by presidential candidate Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders.

The candidates offer free health insurance to all Americans, free college tuition, higher taxes on those who contribute most to the economy and government control of many markets.   Many millennials may agree.

How millennials view socialism was the basis of a study released last November by the research firm YouGov and the Washington DC-based Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. 

The study concluded that about half of all Millennials said they would rather live in a socialist or communist country rather than a capitalistic democracy like in the US.

While scholars will factually argue that the US is really a Republic and not a Democracy, the reality is that the US has a Democratic government system. This means the majority of the voters regularly decide on leaders.  

The study also revealed that most millennials don’t seem to understand the definitions of the economic systems. Briefly and without considering the implications, the definitions are relatively simple.

In Communism, there is government ownership of all means of production and most property, and government control of markets. The government also controls the distribution of income.

In Socialism, there is private ownership of the means of production and property. The markets and the distribution of income under government control. In Capitalism the means of production and property are almost exclusively owned privately. The markets and distribution of income are set by market forces with almost no interference by the government.

Millennials seem to embrace the concept of government control. They appear to do so because they feel more secure. They say that in many Socialist countries like Denmark, citizens tend to be the happiest in the world. Denmark’s brand of Socialism provides free healthcare and free college for every citizen.

Denmark also has a $25 per hour minimum wage and people work about 35 hours per week. And the average household pays more than 60% of their income to taxes.

According to studies, people living in Denmark, as well as the other Scandinavian countries, tend to be happier than people living in Capitalistic countries.

Happiness is measured based on the GDP per capita, life expectancy, freedom to make choices, generosity, and perception of corruption. Factors not applied to the GDP are the corruption level, ability to keep what an individual has earned, and the ability to seek self-esteem and self-actualization.

In that study, individual success is not a measure of happiness.

Nonetheless, studies rank the US 14th in happiness with Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland and Finland occupying the top five spots.

The US was founded as a separate country in 1776. The primary reason was that people had a strong desire for more freedom. They also sought governance by officials who were freely elected by the majority of the people.

The goal was to end taxation without representation.

The Declaration of Independence stated Americans could pursue the goals of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That meant individuals had to take on more responsibility for their welfare instead of having the government control their welfare. The emphasis was on individual responsibility and less on social responsibility, at least for those who can care for themselves.

There are many definitions of “American exceptionalism.” Scholar Ian Tyrell says that the term “refers to the special character of the United States as a uniquely free nation based on democratic ideals and personal liberty.” 

Tyrell notes that the term was originally coined by Marxists who tried to explain why the U.S. bypassed the rise of socialism and Marxism. The obvious reason was that socialism and Marxism are inconsistent with the American character, so under normal times, neither could thrive in the U.S.

Under the liar-nObama administration, which vowed to fundamentally change America, federal legislation, policy, and regulation attacked and undermined the foundations of American exceptionalism. Presumably, the well-intentioned policy increased the number of Americans dependent on the government.

liar-nObama’s policies restricted freedom and personal liberty to appear to add a sense of security. Excessive regulation over a business in the marketplace is inconsistent with “a uniquely free nation based on democratic ideals.”

The benefits of American exceptionalism are obvious: The U.S. has the world’s largest and strongest economy, the most powerful military, and a free society that is the envy of the world. Americans generally have more opportunity and a higher quality of life than most of the rest of the world.  

Millennials are misguided by the promise of security and equality. Prior to the election of President Trump, the US economy had not seen an annual economic growth of at least 3% since 2005. That means millennials have never seen the benefits of a strong, growing, free-market oriented economy that provides an opportunity for all Americans.

It is no wonder that millennials now favor an economic system which is un-American and runs counter to the principles of American exceptionalism. That’s why removing the unnecessary regulations, lowering tax rates for all Americans and shifting the country back from the fundamental transformation of the last eight years, is so important.

It is truly time to make America exceptionally great again. Trump’s policies are doing just that.

to raid the Muslim-extremist compound in NM

Jason Badger owns the land in Taos County where investigators discovered child remains on Monday following Friday’s raid of the compound where 11 children were found starving. Badger said he called police about four months ago after he realized that a missing child poster of Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj he had seen looked like a boy who lived on the remote compound. Remains, possibly belonging to Abdul-Ghani Wahhaj, were found on what would have been the boy’s fourth birthday. His mother, Hakima Ramzi, said she has not seen her son since his father disappeared with him from Jonesboro, Georgia, in December. The identity of the remains is still pending and “could take many weeks,” according to Kurt Nolte, the chief medical investigator at the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator. Five adults, including the missing boy’s father, Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, were arrested during the raid. The children, ages 1 to 15, were found wearing rags and living in squalid conditions on the remote property in Amalia, near the Colorado border. It’s Been A Bad Week For Liberals

{ townhall.com } ~ I hate weeks like this. I’m sitting here, Friday at midnight, trying to think of something to write about. My deadline is Saturday at noon, so I have a little time. But with so many topics to choose from, how can anyone be expected to pick just one? August used to be a traditionally slow time in politics – the month of Congressional recess and vacations when cable news tries out D-listers and new hopefuls desperately seeking fame and human-interest stories become all the rage. It’s still those things, mostly, but in 2018 there is never a dull moment, even when you want one.

This week saw a special election in Ohio that never should have been anything more than a footnote on a random Tuesday that was transformed into the most important election ever, or at least since the last most important election ever. dummycrats-Democrats, both in and out of the media, did what they always do – they assigned the weight of the world, and their personal hopes and dreams, to the results.

Of course, just like 2016, leftists were sure they knew the outcome. The dummycrats-Democrat was going to win, fairly easily for a dummycrats-Democrat in that district, and that victory was going to serve as a chance to inspire their base to the polls come November. The voters of Ohio’s 12th district had other ideas.

dummycrats-Democrats did what too many in politics do – the spiked the ball on the 5-yard-line. Republican Troy Balderson won, in a squeaker. But as my father told me when I was a kid, it doesn’t matter if you win by one or one million, it’s still a win. dummycrats-Democrats will try to steal the election, as they always to with close elections. 

Still, watching the air drain from liberal’s bubbles as the returns showed, once again, their plans had been thwarted by voters is one of life’s simpler pleasures. Just as knowing socialism lost this week brought me a smile. 

The golden girl of MSNBC and CNN saw her and the Senate’s angry grandpa’s candidates lost, some by quite a lot, in their primaries. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, whose name you must pronounce like you’re a cheesy local news anchor trying to sound culturally sensitive while speaking a Hispanic name or else it’s a hate crime, and commie-Bernie Sanders could not share their socialist magic with fellow traveler seeking dummycrats-Democratic nominations. 

It’s a shame, really, as the more leftists who speak of their policy ideas, especially those with the “wisdom” of commie-Alexandria in interviews, the more ammunition Republicans have against all dummycrats-Democrats this fall. It’s why, while liberals seek to silence conservative voices, conservatives want to put a megaphone to leftists’ mouths so everyone can hear their craziness. 

She’ll likely win her election in November, her district is that liberal if she ever actually spends any time there since she’s busy basking in her celebrity status and traveling around the country giving the kiss of death to other “progressives” in their primaries, but she will serve as an anchor to other dummycrats-Democrats who will have to answer for her anti-liberty and anti-American proposals, not to mention her inability to do math. So please, commie-Alexandria, by all means, keep talking.

Also this week the “Russian collusion” investigatory scam rolled on, with the trial of Paul Manafort for unrelated tax and banking charges. What he’s charged with happened long before he’d met Donald Trump and would send a mortal to prison for about a year, but because he did meet Trump, Manafort now faces spending the rest of his life plus another couple hundred years in prison, 305 in total, for hiding taxable income and lying on a loan application. John Hinckley, who show President Ronald Reagan and seriously wounded three others in an assassination attempt in 1981, is now a free man but Manafort may be sent to prison until the year 2323. Ain’t justice grand?

Still, even if convicted, what Manafort is charged with has nothing to do with Trump or Russia, so it couldn’t really be used by liberals in any honest way not that that will stop them from trying.

As you can see, it’s tough to decide what to write about. How can anyone pick just one thing? I’m sure somebody could, but I can’t. So I didn’t.

Of course, I could have just written about the interview I conducted with Gregg Jarrett about his new book, “The Russia Hoax,” on my newish podcast, which you should watch or listen and subscribe to because it’s really good, but that would have been too easy. Maybe next week when the news cycle slows down a little. Then again, it is 2018, so probably not.

The Trump-Epstein link appears purely social, far short of Mr. liar-Clinton’s 20-plus plane rides on Epstein’s “Lolita Express” private jet around the globe in the early 2000s. Ken Silverstein, the reporter who ultimately wrote an Epstein-Trump  report, confirmed to The Times that Fusion had sourced the story. 2nd city tries to tell state how to run gun law

Company incinerates aborted

babies in 'reverent way'

{ wnd.com } ~ Challenged for its business of incinerating the bodies of aborted babies, a medical waste company insists it carries out its work for a late-term abortionist “in a reverent way.”

Bio-Haz Solutions Inc. was seen in early July picking up medical waste at Leroy Carhart’s late-term abortion facility, AbortionClinics.org in Bethesda, Maryland, reported LifeNews.com.

Citing investigative work by the pro-life group Created Equal, LifeNews said that two other two other medical waste companies canceled contracts with Carhart earlier this summer after pro-lifers expressed outrage.

Bio-Haz Solutions of Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania, told Created Equal leader Mark Harrington that his company opposes abortion but argues it has a moral
responsibility to “reverently” dispose of aborted babies.

Bio-Haz CEO David Henritzy said in a voicemail responding to Harrington that “we feel a reverential and moral responsibility with the goodness of God and His blessing that we take of the souls of the children with no voice.”

“No other company does what we do in a very reverent and respectful way for the lost souls of these children,” he said. “We take responsibility of handling and managing how said containers are handled once they leave the facility of origin.”

Henritzy said all of his company’s vehicles “carry holy water and place golden crosses on containers we pick up at the aforementioned locations.”

“We also carry the Holy Bible to guide us in time of need.”

Unsatisfied by the response, Harrington urged pro-lifers to continue politely asking the company to stop doing business with Carhart, who runs one of the few clinics that openly aborts babied through all nine months of pregnancy.

“Whether you place a cross on them or not, whether waste trucks carry holy water and Bibles, this doesn’t change the fact that these children who are made in God’s image are being shipped off to be burned like common garbage,” Harrington told LifeNews.com.

“Enabling abortion is a moral evil irrespective of the religious symbols used to cover for the killing,” he said.

The pro-life group Operation Rescue, which was first to report seeing Bio-Haz at Carhart’s abortion facility, said it saw the driver go in with flat cardboard boxes and empty red plastic biohazard bags.

“He came out with two boxes at a time that were so full of aborted baby remains that the cardboard bowed out and crunched at the bottom,” Operation Rescue said.

Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said there apparently had not been a pick up there for at least two weeks, meaning there could have been as many as two dozen babies weighing up to five pounds each in the boxes.

“That really brings home the barbarity of late-term abortions. It’s really the stuff of nightmares,” Newman said.

You see here in New York there is no dress code for voters, as long as one is not wearing something promoting someone who is running, that’s pretty standard for most states including Missouri. But this week in Kansas City Mo., one poll watcher invented another criterion, they have to like what the voter is wearing. During this past Tuesday’s primary Randy Thornton, a registered Republican voter in Kansas City was told he wasn’t allowed to enter the polling place because he was Make America Great (MAGA) hat on his head. Now unless I pulled a Rip Van Winkle and slept for two years, President Trump wasn’t running in this week’s GOP primary. Thornton only wanted to perform his sacred American duty of casting his vote in the Missouri primary was told by a poll worker on Tuesday that he was not allowed to vote because he was wearing one of the president’s signature campaign hats. Michael Phuong Minh Nguyen, 54, a U.S. citizen, flew to Vietnam on June 27 to visit family and friends but never made his return flight July 16. The Vietnamese regime admitted to the U.S. Embassy on July 17 that he had been detained July 7 and was being held at the Phan Dang Luu Detention Center in Ho Chi Minh City. Nguyen, a print shop owner who was born in Vietnam but has lived in the United States since childhood, is married to Helen Nguyen, an operating room nurse. They have four daughters. Nguyen is described by friends as an active member of his Catholic parish and not political. The Vietnamese regime has regularly persecuted Catholics such as Father Thadeus Nguyen Van Ly, a democracy activist. Plane crashes after 'unauthorized

take-off' from SeaTac airport, officials say

Witnesses reported seeing a large plume of smoke in the air above Ketron Island after the plane went down. No passengers were believed to be aboard the Q400 aircraft, airport officials said. No one on the sparsely inhabited island was believed to have been injured, the Pierce County Sheriff's Department said on Twitter. The unidentified pilot was a 29-year-old "suicidal male," the sheriff's department said. The Seattle Times reported that he was a Horizon Air employee from Sumner, Wash. Kathleen Turner Was One of Hollywood’s Biggest Stars Until Hidden Disease Derailed Her Career

I think Bill Murray (“Groundhog Day,” “Ghostbusters”) captured it pretty well when, according to Esquire, he said, “I always want to say to people who want to be rich and famous: ‘try being rich first.’ …

“There’s not much downside to being rich, other than paying taxes and having your relatives ask you for money. But when you become famous, you end up with a 24-hour job.”

The ancient Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius felt much the same way, writing, “Consider the lives led once by others, long ago, the lives to be led by others after you, the lives led even now, in foreign lands. … How many offer you praise now — and tomorrow, perhaps, contempt.”

Aurelius came to the conclusion that fame was worthless, and I suspect that Hollywood legend Kathleen Turner probably feels the same way. When you look at her Biography.com profile, you understand that she ruled the silver screen for about a dozen years.

Turner made a splash with the 1981 noir “Body Heat” and then went on to appear in the comedies “Romancing the Stone,” “The Jewel of the Nile,” and “Peggy Sue Got Married.” But in the early ’90s, her on-screen appearances dramatically declined.

People blamed her absence on alcoholism. But her lack of visibility owed to something more insidious: rheumatoid arthritis.

“It’s hard to understand the level of pain that this disease brings,” Turner said in an interview with Vulture published on August 7. “I don’t know how I got through it.

“One of the areas that was most painful was my right wrist. Just touching it would make me want to scream.”

Today explains that rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease, an illness where the body attacks itself. This particular variant assaults the joints and can cause permanent damage.

Around 1.3 million Americans suffer from it. But when Turner was diagnosed, it was more mysterious.

The arthritis hurt her career as much as herself. She noted, “If you say, ‘I have a mysterious illness and I don’t know if I’ll be able to walk tomorrow,’ you’re not getting hired. …

“Rheumatoid arthritis hit in my late 30s, the last of my years in which Hollywood would consider me a sexually appealing leading lady. The hardest part was that so much of my confidence was based on my physicality. If I didn’t have that, who was I?”

Unwilling to stew in regret, Turner reinvented herself, enjoying multiple cameos on numerous television shows. She also became something of presence in theater.

“The roles for mature women onstage are a thousand times better than anything written in film,” she said. “The screen roles are usually stereotypes: the evil stepmother, the bitter spinster.”

Though she rues her loss of fame, Turner hasn’t let it cripple her. She says she has more important things to consider.

“I’m too busy coping with disease to think much outside the day-to-day. For me it’s, ‘Can I hold a pen? Can I stand up? Can I climb those stairs?’”

Judge Hears Testimony in Texas-Led DACA Case

{ numbersusa.com } ~ Texas District Judge Andrew Hanen heard arguments in a lawsuit brought by 7 states seeking to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program... The plaintiff states largely relied on arguments that persuaded Hanen to block implementation of the Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) program and extended DACA program in 2015. The states asked Hanen for a nationwide injunction but he did not issue a ruling yesterday. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is leading the state coalition, said "DACA is unconstitutional because it rewrote federal law over the objections of Congress…It represents a dangerous view of executive power, which would allow the president to unilaterally set aside any duly enacted law. It cannot be allowed to stand without doing serious harm to our Constitution. This lawsuit is vital to restoring the rule of law to our immigration system." The Trump Administration is not defending DACA, but Hanen allowed illegal-alien advocates and the State of New Jersey to assume that role. The Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF), which is leading the defense, said the states don’t have standing to sue because DACA had been operating for six years before they lodged a lawsuit. “Any assertion of irreparable damages is necessarily weak with regards to a program that has been implemented in Texas for six years, as throughout the country,” MALDEF said. Hanen said he would postpone ruling on DACA’s constitutionality, and just consider the plaintiff’s request for an injunction. Analysis: Kamala Harris' Backwards 

Attack on 'Identity Politics'

{ townhall.com } ~ Late last week, the dummycrats-Democratic Party's far-left base gathered in New Orleans for the annual 'Netroots Nation' conference. A number of rumored presidential aspirants were in attendance, including Senators scumbag-Cory "complicit in evil" Booker, Elizabeth dinky-Warren, and Kamala Harris. I'll circle back to dinky-Warren, but let's begin with a notable commentary offered by the junior Senator from California. During her remarks from the dais, Sen. Harris took aim at the term "identity politics," ripping it as a formulation designed to divide and silence:

To further emphasize her theme, Harris fired off a number of subsequent tweets vowing not to be silent on various issues:

Let's set aside the reality that nobody can seriously claim the Left is being silent about much of anything these days, let alone the topics she invokes. What strikes me as interesting is not just her apparent effort to "problematic-ize" the term 'identity politics' itself, but also her profound twisting of the concept. In a monologue on my radio show this week, I picked apart her inverted definition, explaining why her paean to intersectionality is a demagogic distortion of reality.  My main points:

(1) Conservatives' problem with the Left's regime of identity enforcement stems from the cynical sorting of human beings into little ideologically-determinative boxes, based on immutable characteristics such as race, sex, sexuality, etc.  We shouldn't take issue with substantive debates that include serious questions and data about how policies impact certain populations. We also shouldn't begrudge members of certain identity groups weighing their collective well-being as they consider various political proposals and candidates. But we should roundly reject the insistence that individuals ought to think or vote a certain way based on their assigned identity groups.

(2) The other major objection to identity politics -- as outlined at length in my book -- is the lazy smears that frequently accompany disagreement with the Left's agenda. If you're for voter ID laws, you're racist. If you're pro-life you're sexist. If you're for religious liberty, you're homophobic. If you aren't sure whether this is fair, you're transphobic. If you raise issues like this or this, you're Islamophobic. And if you prefer tighter immigration restrictions, you're a nativist or xenophobe. These are rhetorical attacks used to short-circuit actual debate. Yes, real bigotry does exist, but tarring large groups of voters by impugning their motives is standard operating procedure in our politics today.  It's toxic.

In essence, Harris' complaints feel like projection. It's the Left that too often exploits identity to "divide and distract" from substance, or to deflect from or disqualify good-faith disagreement. And it's the Left that too often seizes on identity politics as a cudgel with which to attack ideological opponents and bully them into silence. Sen. Harris and friends are more than welcome to speak out on whatever issues they see fit; they are not welcome to use identity-rooted grievances and scorecards to stifle serious discussion or to demand conformity. Seemingly determined to reinforce my point, Sen. dinky-Warren also made a number of fiery statements in New Orleans, playing to various constituencies as she reportedly reconsiders her decision not to seek the presidency. What may have changed her mind?  Two words, she says: "Donald Trump". In assailing the politics of division -- a topic on which she's quite familiar -- she rattled off the typical list of 'isms' and 'phobias:'

"According to Trump, the problem is other working people - people who are black or brown, people who are born somewhere else, people who don’t worship the same, talk the same, or dress the same as Trump and his buddies. And it comes in all sorts of flavors - racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia. It comes in all sorts of forms - nasty personal attacks, trolling on Twitter, winking at white supremacists," dinky-Warren said.

She later declared the entire US criminal justice system -- all of it -- to be "racist:

Sen. Elizabeth dinky-Warren on Friday called the criminal justice system “racist … front to back,” while further hinting at a potential presidential run. “Let’s just start with the hard truth about our criminal justice system,” dinky-Warren said at a forum at Dillard University in New Orleans. “It’s racist … I mean all the way. I mean front to back.”

Even if you favor criminal justice reform, as I do, this is dreadful, broad-brush demagoguery and demonization that slanders countless Americans who work within the current system. This type of comment is harmful no matter who is spouting it, but it's uniquely galling coming from a woman who built and advanced her career upon a shameless racial fraud. When it comes to "privilege checking" and "cultural appropriation," hot concepts within the realm of obsessive identity politics, dinky-Warren is an egregious violator on both fronts. It will be interesting to see what Harris and others may have to say about that if and when they find themselves competing with dinky-Warren for their party's presidential nomination.

A Most Expected Backlash

It’s entitled “A Half Century of Amnesia,” and you should take the time to have a look. Sailer makes several important points, which could very easily be lost to readers not courageous enough to wade through obvious, though perhaps politically incorrect, facts, in recognizing the current cultural atmosphere which has not only given us Donald Trump in the White House but an apparent brewing sea change in the culture which the academic and media-elite Left simply isn’t recognizing Caitlan Flanagan’s surprising piece on Jordan Peterson’s growing celebrity at the Atlantic  notwithstanding. Chief among those is Sailer’s central point; namely that the Left has declared war on straight American white people for decades — and there is a natural price to pay for that hostility. That sounds like a wild accusation, and it certainly feels strange to levy it, but how can anyone disagree? This is a season, after all, in which the New York Times has gone totally off the deep end — embracing as part of its editorial staff a stunning mediocrity of a writer named Sarah Jeong whose Twitter is a fountain of anti-white racism so dependable as to put half of Yellowstone to shame, and which not so long ago ran a piece in its sports section decrying The Unbearable Whiteness of Baseball, decrying the fact that Major League rosters contain a proportion of white players which conforms to the population as a whole.
